I have a couple for these! For The Old Guard, I was really not into Book of Nile at first, but now I kinda love the idea. Them having a slow burn romance and learning to grow together??? That’s a vibe.

And for my darling Crows, I didn’t (platonically) know how to fit Matthias into the group for a very long time. This is less something that other people changed my mind on, and more just me digging around in my own little brain. Now, Jesper and Matthias are a couple of my favourite buddies! And Matthias, Jesper and Wylan as buddies. I mostly just think that Matthias Helvar is criminally underrated in the fandom, and I hope we get a spin-off/season 3– just to see all the crows together, if for no other reason.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.

Andy and Bookerrrrrr. It’s a no for me. I think he’s been in and out of infatuation with her multiple times, but it’s a headcanon, not a ship to me.

And anything having to do with Kuwei. I don’t understand the hate he gets, but I also don’t really care about him (that sounds mean— I can sympathise with him as a character, and appreciate the role he serves throughout the books, I’m just not interested in fandomising him at all). He is a plot device that I continually forget about, and when I am reminded of his existence, especially through a pairing, I’m confused and blindsided. I wish I could enjoy/appreciate him more, but unlike the crows, who I can see as young twenty-somethings, Kuwei is firmly planted in “young teenager” energy. He’s un-shippable to me.

GIVE ME COLM FAHEY. GIVE ME ALL THE COLM FAHEY. IF YOU DONT, I WILL DO IT MYSELF AND YOULL ALL BE FLOODED WITH MY BACKSTORY AND MY AUS AND MY SUPER REPETITIVE “KETTERDAM LIFE REVEAL” STORIES.

Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?

Ummm. I don’t really know. I feel like the second season of good omens applies— I haven’t seen the second season, and have little interest in watching it, but I see my mutuals having a grand time with it. And that’s fun!

In a similar vein, Sandman! And more specifically Dreamling! I love this pairing, but have never watched the show because Tom Sturridge makes my eating disorder very loud. But I LOVE the idea of Dream and Hob Gadling, and I still read fic and see it on my dash a bunch.

Also Red, White, and Royal Blue. It was cute, and I enjoyed watching it, but there’s A LOT I really didn’t like about it, and I enjoy it much more for its potential as an au template (👀 I am Looking at You, my friend👀). For fake countries/kingdoms, and different characters. I love how much a lot of my mutuals enjoy it, though, and I see it on my dash a lot! And I’m always happy for us queers to have a frothy and fun little romcom.

That is a very easy question my friend. You see, I don't have beef with the 12 yo, I have beef with her crazy inovoters 🤷‍♀️. Personally I wanted a 50/50 became I don't think either a guilty (it might make her worst) or innocent (it reinforces her cult beliefs) verdict will help her in the long run. But after seeing people started name-calling and bashing everybody who DEARS have a different opinion than them and vote her guilty, saying you're a horrible person, saying you don't care about neurodivergent people and victims of abuse, wishing on people they never speak with abuse victims because they made a joke about her being guilty 💀 (this literally happened to a friend of mine WHO IS ACTUALLY A VICTIM OF DOMESTIC ABUSE HERSELF together with her mother and sister) etc. I got really pissed off. So in conclusion, I started spite voting, it's that simple 🤷‍♀️

Still thinking about the conversation I had with my roommate’s bf like two weeks ago where he said he was scared of furries but also didn’t even know enough about furries to know they were called furries I had to figure out wtf he was talking about. The urge to become a full blown furry now. Despite having all the makings of a furry I for some reason have never ended up enthusiastically becoming one despite my best efforts. Well. With spite as my motivator here we are. Where are the furry artists, I’m commissioning both my tentative ideas for my fursonas. I’m inviting all my friends who are furries over and we’re gonna work on making fursuits. Lmfao my mom was getting on me abt not having enough to do this upcoming semester so I decided ah okay I'll add another class. And that's perfectly fine. But the one I picked results in the majority of my schedule being generally unaffected and still lax, but my Thursday being absolutely fucked.

For reference, on every other day I'd spend like less than four hours in class/commuting(anywhere from zero hours to almost four), but Thursday, its almost 9 hours combined 😭 which is like fine with me, but I think ill despise thursdays after this, AND MY BIRTHDAY IS ON A THURSDAY :(

WIP Game

Ooh, I love this one. I need to get back to it. Maybe I'll make it my holiday fic of the year 😆 It's basically an AU where Sam and Bucky both used to star in the same sitcom. Bucky retired from acting years before Sam due to an injury that took his arm. Sam recently retired from acting after a long run on the sitcom because he wanted to help his sister run the family business. They meet again when Sam returns home after years apart and rekindle flames that were cut short when Bucky left LA.

Here's an excerpt:

BEFORE

“Hey. Don’t I know you from somewhere?”

Sam blinked. The man looked like he was growing out his hair. His stubble looked new. He was… he was going to be the musician neighbor, right?

“Did I see you during the auditions?” asked Sam as he shook the man’s hand.

There was a roughness to those hands that felt more than just some practice on an acoustic guitar. There was something more to this. Something much more than just the audition.

“Yeah, but – I feel like I’ve seen you around before,” said the man, and Sam was about to shut whatever bullshit this man was going to say down but then the man lit up and blurted, “Wilson Family Seafood! I worked on your boat every summer during high school. You were in my sister’s grade – Becca Barnes.”

Sam gaped.

“Bucky Barnes?” asked Sam, a little stunned.

Sam remembered him vaguely. Bucky had been older by a few years. A little intimidating despite his kind nature and goofy disposition. Maybe it was because he was a little older. Maybe it was because Bucky always seemed to be walking around shirtless on the boat during the hot Delacroix summers.

“Didn’t your sister blow up one of the chemistry classrooms?” added Sam.

Bucky laughed.

“She got a few chemicals mixed up,” said Bucky like he had to tell this to a million people, “Also, it didn’t blow up. She just… gently singed the room.”

Sam couldn’t help but grin, giggled a bit.

“Gently singed, eh?” said Sam.

“Okay, maybe a little more than singed, but nobody got hurt,” said Bucky, “You got the big role, right?”

“Anthony? Yeah. I’m Anthony,” said Sam.

Sam couldn’t help but let some of the giddiness show. Not for this. How could he? This was his first big break. The lead in a sitcom. He had moved out to Los Angeles eight months ago, and now he had landed a gig on a show. As the lead, no less.

“You deserved it. I heard a little bit of your audition and it was…” Bucky said before they both realized they were still holding each other’s hand…

Bucky gently let go.

“You’re probably too good for this show, Sam,” Bucky said.

Was that a bit of blush coloring Bucky's cheeks?

Sam shrugged.

“I’m pretty new to all of this,” said Sam, a little self-conscious, “Maybe I’ll do something else, but I don’t know. I like this show. The pilot’s smarter than it seems. I’m really impressed with some of the more subtle jokes.”

“You’re right. The double talk in the teaser was really what made me excited about the pilot script,” said Bucky, “I love how all of the jokes built up throughout the episode. It makes the button at the end hilarious.”

Bucky smiled at Sam. Big and soft and kind. Bucky stood there for a while, just staring. At Sam. Sam raised an eyebrow.

“What?” asked Sam, feeling his own cheeks heat up.

“Sorry, it’s just – I’ve been out here for over a year, and it’s… it’s a lot different out here,” said Bucky, “It’s nice to have a familiar face around.”

Sam understood the feeling.

“No,” said Sam, “I get it. It’s… It’s nice to see you too.”

Trying not to remember the agony of the mending, or the way Zelda had fought them all tooth and nail—tears streaming down her face, voice vaulting, red all over her hands and her clothes—when they’d tried to evict them as soon as the bleeding had been stemmed. Trying not to remember the way she’d let her guard down and nestled into his neck that first night, when she thought he’d finally drifted off under the influence of the elixir, and cried herself to sleep. It wasn’t working. He kept drifting to the Mire, to those great bones protruding up out of the ground like a lot of teeth. If those harpoons had struck true instead of maiming him—if Zelda hadn’t bargained for his life—surely there would have been no one to carry him off to join the others. What would’ve happened to him then? Would his bones have become another Mire, ancient and whispering his story for a few hundred years until dragons faded into fairytales? Or would the ocean have eaten him? Carried him off in bits and pieces and dragged him to the seafloor to be cleaned off by crabs and urchins, and then forgotten entirely? He wasn’t sure why that bothered him. After going to such great lengths to hide himself, he thought the image of a world that no longer believed in dragons would’ve been a welcome one. And thank you again! I hope to - although, because I have to work tomorrow night, I ended up having to celebrate my birthday on Sunday afternoon instead. I’m so excited! I cannot wait to spend Sunday afternoon with ‘you-know-who’!! (I plan on beating him in a couple games🤭)

But it has been a wonderful lead-up to my birthday! We actually just got back from Pennsylvania after seeing Sight & Sound Theatre’s production of David! It was the first time I’ve been outta state and stayed in a hotel in years and the first time I’ve ever seen a live performance like that. It was amazing, I can’t even describe it! And then being that it was about my favorite person from the Bible? Ugh!

Oooooo I love this 😂 I am not an expert by any means, but I’d probably say red camellias, Jasmine, Syrian mallow (hibiscus), and coral roses.

Red camellias translate to “you are the flame of my heart”, which is think suits them (and their fucking in front of the fireplace) quite well. Jasmine means sensuality, and has the added benefit of being Yusuf’s favorite. Syrian mallow means to be “consumed by love”, and coral/orange roses which signify intense desire and passion.

Yusuf will get the message.
