Archie is a good bird. A pretty bird. He knows this very well. He keeps his feathers preened, makes sure they’re puffed up, his wings spread and flapping despite how he’s more of a runner. Archie sings, deep bellowing calls from the depths of his throat as he moves, step by step, a complicated dance of attraction. With him moves the wind, gentle breezes that ruffle his feathers and swings his tail to the unheard beat.

“Archie. . .” Emmet mutters, a hand to his pinking face. “I do not think she wants to mate.”

Archie and the brand new Archeops toy both ignore him. Regret bubbles in a low ball of frustration below his ribs, but Emmet just sighs. He supposes he should’ve expected this. Archie has been doing mating calls to every other bird he could find. It’s no surprise he’s trying to court the newest toy of the Gear Station line, made life sized with its own hat to match Emmet’s.

Archie gives another warble, saddling up to the toy. Despite its lack of movement, breathing, or blinking, the bird continues its dance in a more intimate setting. The calls drop in volume, and Emmet bites back a groan, turning on his heel to leave his Archeops alone with his new toy.

Only to find Galvantula slowly cocooning her matching toy, delighted hunger dancing in her many eyes.

Emmet spends the night with Ingo.

the inside job is so real bc nate and eliot meet archie and they are on the absolute same page that it is on SIGHT with him

literally the only reason he didn’t end up with like broken knees in a damp, dark back alley somewhere is because they know that despite parker’s messed up relationship with him, it would make her sad
