I know I've been pretty scarce for a bit, other than some reblogs, but I'm gonna hop back in to tease about one of my WIPs a little bit.

[Ems] “Observant. Maybe you’re not just a pretty face, then.”

[Echo] “We have the same face, Fives.”

[Echo] (Big sigh and eye roll)
[Ems] "Is he always like this?"
[Echo] "Always. But don’t worry, he tends to grow on you... like a fungus."
[Ems laughs]
[Fives] "Hey!- A sexy fungus!”
[Ems] “Since you boys have been so charming, maybe you can help me. I’m looking for Captain Rex, of the 501st. I’ve been told I’ll be reporting to him.”
[Echo] “You’re looking for Rex?”
[Fives] “He’s our Captain…”
[Ems] “That’s right. I’ve been assigned to his command. Under GAIHTC.” [pause] “You have no idea what I’m talking about, do you?”
[Echo] “I didn’t think it had gone into effect yet, actually.”
[Fives glances at Echo like Care to Explain?? And Echo responds with a later nod.]
[Fives] “Uh– Right. Follow me. I’ll take you to him.”

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?
This narrative line from one of Cody's chapters:
At least in that, he somehow promised a victory. For were they not the victors, then those brethren fallen on the accursed world of Umbara… may never be retrieved and left instead to rot away in hollow, shallow, open graves.
19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs.
LITTLE TROOPERS, 212th Chapter 1:
Just as the Admiral predicted, there were bumps and bruises, scratches and minor cuts. Some had fallen and hurt their heads, and unfortunately, two had taken a tumble from a height high enough that left them with broken bones, but nothing that wouldn’t heal.
However, one by one… the Littles were found, until each was accounted for. No one was lost. No one was left behind. No one had been forgotten. No one was left to wail in the dark, all alone.
From end to end, they filled the barracks, ran the droids and the sailors ragged. But bellies were filled as best they could; the smallest, still needed formula milk, and there simply wasn’t enough to go around. Shivering little bodies were covered in blankets, and held by nearly every available arm. Echoes of laughter mixed with the sharp spikes of truly distressed wails, or the exhausted cries that came only with endless tears.
The Negotiator was a warship; though she still had Her sailors, those had once been Her soldiers. With only a few supplies to provide aid to the expected collateral victims in the war, she had hardly enough for how much the 212th now needed for its own. Everything the soldiers had ever been issued, had available to meet their needs, was now too wrong for the Tinies and the Littles; there were no more soldiers in Her hull.
Only twenty-minutes ago, the first Red Star relief ships had docked. The first hands reached out to offer help, to offer aid, to offer comfort, and to offer more arms to be filled.
Exhausted sailors pushed themselves to the brink of collapse, motivated by how desperately they needed the supplies unloaded—more than they needed rest, these children needed the diapers, blankets, solid foods, formula, toys, and clothes…
Worlds from near-by systems, Republic, Neutral, and even Confederate answered the call; the hails for mercy.
They were babies, after all.

Rex's Duvet

One day there arrives a package on Rex's desk, a fairly big one, that has nice things written all over it, like: You are loved or happy birthday or other things that could be connected to a lifeday. It carries a note written on the same flimsi paper..
Dear Rex,
We heard you still have nobody to bunk with. We don't want you to be alone but we cannot just buy you a bunk partner, instead we threw a little together and bought this for you. It should keep the cold away and help you feel hugged and loved by us from afar. It's almost as good as a pile and it's warm and comfortable and creates a comfortable and soft cocoon around your body, when you sleep. It's absolutely worth all the money in the world.

The package holds a "duvet", as it says, a blanket filled with some sort of stuffing material. It's big and super soft ans Rex immediately loves it. And now it's his, and his alone and nobody can take it from him because they gifted it to him. He sees the envious looks of the torrent when he enters the barracks with it and spreads it on his bunk (he's a captain he ain't got his own room only commanders do). He gives the other blanket to Fives and Echo who are very grateful for that little present.
The first night after the Citadel nobody in Torrent is allowed to get sleep. Not that anybody is willingly keeping them awake on purpose, but it is Fives who breaks under grief and loss, curled up in Echo's bunk, restless in his sleep, mumbling and screaming things into the oblivion of nightmares. He is the only one who sleeps that night. And when he wakes up he starts crying uncontrollably. It sounds ugly, he doesn't even try to hide it, and nobody knows what to do. Until Rex finally slips out of his top bunk and quietly to the floor then gathers up his duvet and crosses the room towards his ARC trooper.
"Fives, hey", he whispers, gently touching Fives' shaking shoulder, "I got something for you." He spreads the duvet over the crying mess that Fives is and tucks him in warmly, pressing the covers around him like a protective shell. Fives hand snakes out of their warm confinement and grab at Rex's. "Please stay", he pleads and sobs heartbreakingly loud. For a moment Rex hesitates - it has been a while since he bunked with someone and he's not sure if Fives would actually want that - but then, slowly, he climbs into the bed and wraps his arms around Fives' wrapped up shoulders. He places a small kiss on his burning forehead and buries his fingers in dark locks. "You're not alone, Fiv'ika, I won't go anywhere."
He tucks Fives' head under his chin and holds him close as he cries himself back to sleep. On the bunk next to them lies Tup, eyes wide awake and watches them with a blank expression. He doesn't move, nor blinks, for a moment Rex thought he might be dead. Above Tup lays Hardcase, one arm hanging over the edge of his bunk, he is staring as well, just less creepy, since he actually seems very tired and blinks a lot as though to keep himself awake. When Rex turns he see's Dogma on the top and Jesse on the lower bunk, Jesse doesn't even try to sleep, he is upright and reading on his datapad, not giving them any attention while Dogma has his head laid down on his folded arms ands watches them with a curious expression. Rex doesn't know what exactly to think of it. But reminds himself to ask them later.
When he does they ask if they all need to loose someone close to them to try out the curious blanket at least once. He tells them they were always allowed to ask, they just never did.
And the following nights there id always someone at his bunk looking a him with pleading eyes. Sometimes Rex just hands the blanket over - and feels terribly cold and left alone that night - sometimes he quietly denies to recover from the coldness the past night. And sometimes he just lifts the edge of the blanket and invites them in, soon his bed becomes crowded. There is always someone around to sleep by his side and he is not going to lie, he actually loves that. He feels more accepted within the rows of his men and less lonely and sometimes, before sleep, they even have small conversations and Rex learns a lot about them just by that. Jesse, for example, is a tiny little spoon. He curls up with his back against Rex's chest and draws his arms tight around his waist. He likes it when Rex presses his face into his neck and breathes over his shoulder. Hardcase is a rough bunk partner, he moves rather a lot and he faces Rex, smushing his face into his pecs. He doesn't speak before sleeping. Tup is his absolute favorite. He likes to be the big spoon and he does it magnificently as well hiding Rex in big arms and keeping him safe and warm, he talks quietly, gently rubbing his fingertips over Rex's face to relax his tense muscles, Rex feels himself always a little disappointed when it's someone else. Kix likes to massage his muscles which always leaves Rex a little flustered because, damn, he's got such a touch kink, or he is like a stone, spreads himself ontop of him and immediately falls asleep giving Rex no possibility to goddamn move an inch. But at least he doesn't snore, like Dogma who's actually quite cuddly but loud. Nights with Dogma are heavenly comfortable and awfully sleepless, thus rather productive on his paperwork.
And then there is Fives. Fucking moodboard Fives. Sometimes he's excited and likes to talk Rex into sleep. Sometimes he curls himself around Rex and falls asleep immediately and sometimes he's touchy and even somewhat invading personal space, roaming his hands all over Rex body shamelessly. Rex doesn't mind. He loves the attention and gladly lets Fives fuck him into the mattress without a single protest.
There is hardly ever a time when he is alone in his bed from now on. He doesn't know if it is an arrangement among the troopers themselves but they circle quite perfectly, always 6 troopers in a row, the seventh night he is alone, then there are another 6. This keeps going until it's the first one again.
Thus: at some point Rex knows when to keep oil under his pillow for Kix and Fives, or when to grab himself a datapad to work on for Dogma and Hardcase, or when to meditate before bed to calm himself down for Tup and Jesse, he just wants to cuddle.
There are times when he asks them to change the cycle, when he's in the early nights but gets terribly horny he let's Dogma and Fives switch places on their schedule and instead of doing paperwork fucks his ARC trooper. Or when he desperately needs to wind down he asks for Tup instead of Kix. Or when he needs to get shit done but got bullied into bed he demands for Dogma's presence. It's a quiet agreement they have, and nobody ever dares question the Captain's orders.

He was on his knees, wrists tied behind his back, against a wall of what it seems a military base, barely aware of his surroundings.
“ARC Trooper Fives you were found guilty of treason, how do you declare yourself?” it was Dogma voice who shouted all over again.
This can’t be happening, not again, it wasn’t right...they killed Krell, they escaped Umbara...they did everything right.
What if it never happened? What if it was happening now?
But why did he remembers it all?
“How do you declare yourself?” Dogma repeated.
“Not guilty, the only treason here has been accomplished by the General..” he only answered.
It was his voice but he felt like he didn’t speak at all..how?
Flashes of blurred images passed in front of him, his brothers, ready to fire at him as soon as the order was given. But he couldn’t recognize anyone, it was like there was a fog before his eyes. Actually, he didn’t see much at all around him, everything was going too fast.
It was wrong, it wasn’t like this...
“Ready...aim...” another brother said, but he couldn’t figure out who he was.
He heard a sequence of clicks he knew too well.
“No, everything’s wrong...stop..” he shouted but, this time, no sound came out.
“Fire!”
He instinctively closed his eyes, turning his face to the side. This was it, it was the end, his life finally ending. Even if he often thought about how he would die one day, this surely wasn’t the best way to leave the galaxy forever.
Few minutes passed and everything felt the same, there were no more voices around him and he suddenly felt cold. He slowly opened his eyes again and saw the horror in front of him, something that not even all the battles they had faced could prepare him for. There were bodies everywhere, he was the only one alive...he was alone.
No...no, this isn’t real, not again...- he thought.
He felt his hands finally free again but he couldn’t move, frozen in fear. Fear of being alone, fear that this slaughter was his fault entirely..and guilt. The guilt of not being dead with his brother, with his family.
Death would have been a blessing if the outcome was this..- he said to himself.
Still on his knees, face in his hands, crying...
What did I do...I’m so sorry..I’m sorry...I’m sorr.....he repeated still crying.
I’m sorry...
....
Fives...
Fives, wake up...
Fives...
Everyone’s dead, but suddenly a voice echoed in his head, it wasn’t his..yet he couldn’t recognize it.
Fives...wake the kriff up...
Few seconds later Fives jerked up in his bunk, Jesse’s face above him with a concerned look.
“Finally! ‘r you ok, brother? You were shouting..” Jesse asked then.
“I...I don’t know...” that was all Fives could answer him.
“Here...” Jesse said, passing him a tissue..” you were crying too, do you want to talk about it?” he added, sitting on his brother’s bed.
Jesse knew, deep down, what was happening. He and Fives were held at gunpoint back on Umbara and he, like Fives, still had nightmares. He was just better at hiding them.
“Was i?...i’m.. I’m sorry I wake you up..” Fives apologized, looking away ashamed.
“Don’t worry ‘bout that, wasn’t sleeping much anyway...” Jesse replied, a serene tone in his voice.
Fives knew his brother was lying, it was evident that Jesse was tired but didn’t say anything, right now he felt grateful for the help he was receiving.
“Well, since neither of us could sleep, come..” Jesse stated, standing up and offering his hand to Fives ..” a bit of fresh air might do you good..”
“Yeah...maybe...” Fives only said.
The frightening sense of guilt and fear, for now, at least, had disappeared. The nightmares about the mission, about his brothers, on the other hand, would return...even though he didn't know when.

Alright then, this was long-ish (for a drabble) ...and i didn’t expect it to be..but i’m not complaining. There will be errors here and there because it was written on the spot, without the usual beta reader...
And yes i wrote an happy ending...sort of..
