endearment and something they'd appreciate.

warnings: playful themes, fluff, pre-established relationships, some unintentional, mutual pining.

wooo guess you haven't seen me write gemshin in a while ;) take this with a grain of salt, since I am gonna be temporarily busy finishing out reqs (majority are twst) and I'd like to give this before I basically disappear for a few lolll

+ I'm also nearing the end of the school year and i really need to catch up :')

✦ diluc ragnvindr.

it's.. sort of unintentional. it's most unlikely to see diluc willingly sugaring up his words, though it's more out of character of him to actually do so. but his attentiveness to you alone greatly contrasts the ones compared to other patrons. not that he gave them much attention anyways but, just enough for a bartender at the very least. not too much, not too less. just like how he wants it to be.

the way he seems to be rather aloof. you'd mistake his actions of wiping a glass of wine with a rag while you ramble on as intentional ignorace, he isn't even looking at you so what else could you do but sink in your seat and quiet down with embarrassment? you fiddle with the rim of your (drink) suddenly feeling completely ashamed. who were you to think he'd even spare an ear in your direction when he's so.. out of your caliber?

"why the sullen face? aren't you going to continue?" his voice hums suddenly. and you nearly snap your neck from how fast it turned to his direction. he raises a brow at your startled behavior. "what's wrong?" you shake your head and embrace the feeling of actually being seen for once. sure you are literally being seen at this moment but you guess it's a figure of speech of sorts.

most people you actually had the confidence to crawl out of your shell and show more of yourself ended up zoning out from how much boredom they had on their face. (you could admit it made you wince, from either embarrassment for yourself or a flash of hurt over your eyes.) and once they depart with the empty promises of meeting up soon, you'd feel lonely though you have quite a few freinds. they had a life after all, they don't have the time in all of tevyat to listen to your exclaims.

but diluc.

diluc out of all people listened to you, be it for the random burst of happiness you quite literally almost screamed out of possibly winning something. diluc who's the top bachelor of mondstadt, the owner of a wine industry, a former captain of KOF. you couldn't even bare to think about his packed schedule and yet he still has the time to scrutiny about your day. even going as far as mentioning a detail you've forgotten yourself days later.

to him on the other hand.. he supposes he appreciates your inquiries and casual attitude with him you'd probably question as to why but he's never really had a normal conversation with anyone, not seen as an equal but rather a celebrity. so the fact your asking about his day yourself is surprising itself. some customers had the rare kindness but he can't exactly count them more than 5.

but he's a bartender. he's strictly just there to serve, not someone a person could consult with, the wine shall comfort them with the promise of temporarily drifting them away from reality for a night, not him. sure he'd engage in casual talk but most of his interactions were just through polite smiles and silent gestures.

it's... refreshing to say the least. call him sappy or whatever but he really enjoys the look of blithe in your eyes when he's with you. he supposes he could stick around and grace you with his presence and in turn, you shall grace him with yours. nothing less, nothing more. unless you have a possible change in feelings, of course. a fair deal, no?

✦ kaeya alberich.

in all honesty. he's a tough one to crack through, but that's probably already clear. from the rumors swirling around mondstadt, you could only agree with various ones. some either sounding to bizarre to be true or clearly made up. the tavern mood is usually more light hearted with less customers under the divine gaze of the sun. but it quickly switches when the moon starts to ascend. most of those transverse to the tavern in hopes of getting comforted with the taste of alcohol and blanket of stars.

kaeya never really knew himself anymore. folks claim some absurd things about him that he would beg to differ but then a moment of silence is all it takes for him to doubt it. these people sees him in a different perspective than himself, with his foolish true self being exposed so carelessly when he's in the tavern, something he can't see with the alcohol blocking his conscience. he supposes he could give them the benefit of the doubt.

after all they've seen a side of him that even he couldn't.

kaeya is no doubt someone dangerous, with the way he's able to dance so freely with his words. hoards of men and women could he swooning under his suggestive stare and flirty remarks but he always backs out before anything gets to serious since he's simply like that; too closed off and afraid.

god, he's so stupid. his humor is no doubt rather broken sometimes, so cursed that you can't help but fall under his stupid charm and laugh. and kaeya doesn't even try to hide the stupid grin on his face when you wheeze and slap his arm helplessly. he's being stupid, always when you're around. so much that his attitude contrasts the smart mouthed captain of cavalr. but he can't help but appreciate how much you've taken from him. wasn't his heart already enough? now you've got him basically turning his back on the facade he built so hard just so he can hear your laugh again.

can't you see? he's basically betraying himself to please you.

but if you asked him. kaeya would tell you, "just be yourself." and for once he's being serious. be stupid with him. get drunk on alcohol with him, if you don't like alcohol then do stupid shit with him, because when he's with you he feels like he just found a part of himself that he's been looking for so long. and for that he knows something about him, something that he's so sure about. and that is the love he feels.

✦ tartaglia.

teasing you. that's it, that's the whole part for him. I'm joking, I guess it would qualify as one of his traits but he's usually so straight forward that you can't even tell the borderline of honesty and flirtatious. some bystander that doesn't know tartaglia to begin with would definitely mistake it as shameless flirting (unlikely with his global wide status) but those who do would question his ulterior motives immediately.

at first he wasn't really interested in you. only looking for something to temporarily cure his boredom. and you just happened to be the first person that stuck out to him ..somehow.. remember to thank him, alright? ;).

he approaches you one day, casually seating himself across your table and you nearly shit your pants when tartaglia out of all people grins at you innocently, or so he thinks. it looks malicious on many people's end, including you. as if he didn't intrude on your table, tartaglia starts a conversation that went by way too fast than you realized.

which was because you actually found yourself easing into the conversation. even going as far as boldly stating your opinions on various topics, which he'd wink and remark and say that he likes the attitude. many people pass by your table with a terrified hurry, and some are too snoopy too ignore the fact that a harbinger, one that literally drowned liyue harbor (not that the public knows) was sitting next to you, and the funny thing was. that you both actually looked like a wholesome pair.

something he'd appreciate is someone that would connect with his family. not so surprising right? since he's a family man and all but you know what is? the fact that your pre-relationship progressed so far, that it actually crossed the border of acquaintances itself is a suprise to him and you. you'd thought he'd be so much ruthless from how evil the people described him to you.

there's nothing more refreshing than coming home and seeing all his siblings passed out on a bed, all wearing a variety of animal themed pajamas. which he concludes to be a sleepover that he wasn't invited to. >:( he frowns while dramatically pulling out a narwhal costume and sneakily placing himself next to you. hell bent on shuffling closer, he just hopes his siblings won't be menaces to block his advances.

✦ zhongli.

I can confidently say that despite his attitude it's relatively hard to catch zhongli's attention. from all the years he's been living, all the other people going on with their lives had started to become a quick blur. only a few were the ones he'd connected through and remembered in his memory.

but if you did somehow get closer to the man who's so close yet so far then you'd be gifted the privilege of his perceptient nature. you can talk to him about anything. be it actually finding the real cor lapis in that guy's shop, or perhaps an interesting encounter with another. throughout your rambling zhongli never tears his eyes away from you. nodding and humming occasionally as he continues to offer you his full attention.

you'd be suprised because the look in his eyes is surprisingly quite raw and intense, if you look closer maybe you'd find something else glimmering behind his eyes. (which I will leave you to interpret). similar to diluc he'd randomly remember something from a conversation days ago, maybe like ordering you a drink with a connection to your favorite flavors.

maybe if you look closer you'd notice he treats you differently than the others. a detail often overlooked from how subtle he was.

anyhow. if anything, zhongli would appreciate something domestic. when thinking of him the word just popped up naturally so I thought, fuck this why not? maybe there's a hundred other words to describe him better but I can't get the scene of walking with him in the morning where the skies are painted orange. you just continue forward, doing your thing. occasionally peering at shops as all he sees is nothing but you.

he doesn't bump into anyone from how good he'd memorized the layout of the harbor even when he isn't even looking in front of him. he doesn't falter either when you turn to look at him, catching him red handed and instead continuing to watch you with fond eyes.

this scene, you, this whole thing is absolutely perfect. perfectly domestic in his case and it brings a homely sense.

✦ xiao.

in a sense. xiao in general is too far away to connect with mortality, hence. why he doesn't seem to realize your intentions are indeed to befriend him, or the times you give him qingxin as romantic. and instead sees it as some: useless, trivial thing. he doesn't understand absolutely anything about courting, both in modern or ancient time.

but just like in any fics. xiao would be forced to put up with your presence, at first he thought you were a constant thorn in the side. since he basically sees you everyday he starts to grow used to your presence and just sits on top on the inn waiting for you to call for him like usual. but as the moon rises and sleeps once again, there isn't a call for his name.

protection is something that comes with xiao as a whole. excluding his non-verbal pledge of loyalty, if you do end up making him appreciate you then congrats! you have a yaksha that is willing to come immediately without a word if you call his name for no reason, maybe you're in the middle of something and you're bored.

but if theres ever a single, terrified sound that comes out of you he hears it. and I tell you, he comes by the MOMENT you release that short gasp and gripping his polearm while looking around sharply. he looks at you on top of a counter, shrinking away from a small, innocent rat. (he sighs and shakes off the immense, previous concern while casually picking it up and just throwing it outside.)

basically = xiao + loyalty comes in a two in one package and you're extremely lucky to have received it.

just your presence is enough. mainly to assure him that you are indeed, alive, breathing and well. cause he really won't know how to live by anymore if you end up perishing as well. don't ever mind xiao's cold words or dismissal for you cause even if he does acknowledge you. he will still attempt to push you away, in fear that his karma will harm you as well. xiao would rather have you hate him instead of suffering because of him.
