“I can show you everything”
You wanted to be shown everything once, you were so eager to go everywhere and memorize every detail. And there was one person who you wanted to travel everywhere with
Satori Tendou
You were captivated by him, thoughts of him fogged your mind daily and you could barely focus. You knew he was the one for you that day you first started as a manager and he offered you candy, along with asking if you read manga. His smile when you said yes and accepted his snack made you melt on the inside, you practically started floating when he sat next to you and started talking about character complexes and powers. You listened to him for hours that day, you secretly wished he had invited you over so he could talk to you more. You went to sleep that night reminiscing over every word, every sentence, every laugh you both shared.
Were you really that head over heels after one day?
As the days went by you and Tendou grew closer, becoming best friends within weeks. Yet the sparkle in your eyes when he smiled and laughed never faded, the warm feeling from being with him remained with you only growing stronger. You always fell too easily which left you vulnerable to getting hurt, yet with him you wanted to open yourself up completely hoping he would do the same. Months turned into years and before you knew it, You guys were graduating. Everything went by so fast you would believe you blinked and suddenly became a third year, now you were laying in the grass behind the dorms stargazing with your bestfriend who you had unironically fallen in love with. Have you told him how you felt? Nope
“Do you know what paradise is?”, Tendou stared up at the sky the slight light from the lights nearby illuminating his face and causing his eyes to sparkle
“Something or someone you find comfort in, Something you’re so addicted to just doing it or being around it brings you unimaginable joy. You can’t and won’t imagine ever leaving it or stopping it voluntarily” You sighed and looked over at him, gazing into his red eyes, “Why do you ask?”
He laughed and closed his eyes, breathing deeply “This is my paradise...I don’t think I’m ready to leave..” He opened his eyes and smiled, “But you know, This is a part of growing up right?”
“Ugh..” You huff and sit up, “What the hell is growing up anyways?”
Tendou sat up and shifted closer, leaning in so his nose could almost touch yours, “You aren’t old enough to understand”
Your face flushed a deep pink, he was so close to your face if you accidentally moved closer your lips would meet. You smiled at him and burst out laughing, laughing so hard you had to lay back down and hold your stomach. He laughed too, laying next to you and continuing to point out constellations like nothing had happened. What did he even mean “You aren’t old enough to understand”, he was only one year older than you so what did he mean?
Did you really want to know?
You never really understood the term “growing up”, deep down you wanted to stay a a kid forever. You knew that growing up brought unwanted pain and stress and even trauma, if you weren’t stressed with college enough you also had to deal with paying for bills on your studio apartment and making money from the cafe you worked at. And to make it all worse your best friend, the guy you were lovesick for was moving across the country to pursue his dreams
In Paris
You always asked why Paris, didn’t he want to go pro in volleyball? Wasn’t that his paradise? You knew you wanted the best for him but deep down you didn’t want the love of your life to move across the country, you knew you would both lose communication with eachother, you knew he would forget about you and you didn’t want to bear that pain. Yet he didn’t want to listen, he left to paris and exactly what you predicted happened. You started off calling him every day along with texting him, sending him pictures of what you did in everyday life. You didn’t have many friends so you often found yourself waiting for his reply, you knew his job was time consuming but impatience still got the best of you. Hours without a reply turned into days, the realization that you had lost your love ate at your soul. You found yourself skipping meals, and slacking off in school. You knew it was unhealthy and that you needed to stay strong but you couldn’t, his laugh and smile lingered in your dreams. You missed him dearly, but still couldn’t get the confidence to dial his number. One day you couldn’t take it and booked a flight out to Paris, you thought at the moment it would be the best option.
You never even left the hotel
You paced around the room, the TV playing in the background. You knew the chocolate shop he worked at and had a way of transportation but couldn’t bring yourself to go, what if he didn’t remember you? What if he had someone else? You tried to talk yourself up, motivating yourself to press the button
“God damn Y/N just-” You were cut off by a breaking news report, Your gaze switched from your hands to the TV. You squinted at the screen as it showed a report of a young male involved in a car collision, you didn’t even know what the instinct was but you ran out your hotel room down to the lobby, you busted through the entrance and started to run to the hospital the news report specified, tears welled up in your eyes as you ran praying that it was just a mistake. You prayed that the male in critical condition wasn’t who you thought it was, you stumbled and bumped into people as you ran saying a quick “I’m sorry” and keeping your pace. You arrived at the hospital and bust through the doors, running up to the desk
“Please miss, Who was the man involved in the car collision? The one in critical condition?” Tears pricked at your eyes as you stared at the woman in front of you expectantly
“Oh, at first we labeled him a John Doe but after further inspection we have confirmed the mans name is...Satori Tendou, We really shouldn’t give out this info but you seem like a family member or-”
The nurse continued on but you couldn’t hear, everything went silent as if you had just became deaf, Your knees felt weak and threatened to give out. It couldn’t be him, You shook your head and covered your ears despite the fact you couldn’t hear anything, everything started to swirl together like a fever dream. Thats right, it was just a dream, This wasn’t happening. You were gonna wake up from this crazy situation and go see your bestfriend, You were gonna finally see your best friend and he was going to be alive and healthy. Everything was going to be just fine, This was just a sick nightmare thats it
“Excuse me, this is his room. I’m sorry but he has about 20 mins left to live, he can hear but can’t move or respond to anything...I’m sorry”
The doctor patted your back and left the room, gently closing the door to avoid startling you. You hadn’t spoken a word since the news was given to you and of course, you didn’t take it well. You broke down completely, the nurses had to escort you to a room and try to calm you down
But even now you felt nothing but numbness
You stared at Tendous body blankly, gazing at all the tubes coming out of him, the beeping of the heart monitor and pumping of the life support machine kept the room from being completely silent. You felt tears well up into your eyes again and this time you didn’t fight them, you slowly walked towards his bed and gently touched his face. You could feel his face flinch and heard a wimper escape from his body, you let out a quiet sob and placed your hand over your mouth. You remembered how the doctor said he could hear you and feel everything
Feel Everything
He could probably feel the tubes and they were probably painful, He probably didn’t think that life was worth so much pain.
“Tendou...” Your voice cracked and you sniffed, “I’m so sorry...I should have been there..for you” You sighed and sat down in a chair, leaning on the bed “Did I ever tell you about my paradise? Well unlike you...My paradise was a person, They were super funny and their smile could brighten anyones day” You smiled at the last part, unknowingly laying your head on the bed, “They had am amazing laugh too...It was so contagious I learned to memorize it, whenever I was around them...I felt like I was complete. I felt like I had a life worth living when they were around, I loved them..letting them go was the hardest thing, but at least they were safe and happy...” You started to choke up, tears streaming down your face, “You’re my paradise Tendou...I’m in love with you and I want to stay here forever if It means I’ll be with you”. You looked up at the monitor noticing how it was slowing down, You didn’t know much about medicine and medical things but you knew that wasn’t a good sign. You gently grabbed his cold hand and squeezed it, you blinked through tears and opened your mouth. You didn’t know what to say until the monitor started to rapidly beep, fear shot through your body causing your tears to flow faster and your body to shake. You broke your gaze from the monitor and looked at Tendou, his skin was pale and you could barely see his face through all the tubes
“I would have never thought...I would have to say goodbye to my paradise so soon. I love you Satori, I’m sorry I was too late”

Ambush
Pairing: Montgomery Scott x Nicole Scott
Word Count: 1.5k
Summary: Nic and the boys ambush Scotty with some fun
Tag List: @dancing-with-skeletons @selfshipfeelings @heavenshipped @hyperionshipping
A/N: This is my first time writing for Scotty, please be nice
In James’s room, he, his brother and their friend Demora were having a fun time playing Starfleet. Demora was the captain as she sat on top of a stool and gave ‘orders’ to the various stuffed animals Thomas had brought in from his room.
Downstairs in the living room, Hikaru and his husband, Ben, were talking to Nic and Scotty as the four of them finished up some dessert. The Sulu’s we’re giving the couple advice on raising a daughter, something Nic and Scotty were both grateful for. Suddenly Nic started to stand, or at least tried to, and Scotty jumped to help her up.
“Let me take these for you guys,” she said as she leaned down to take the barren plates with only crumbs of vanilla cake left over.
Scotty quickly took the plates from her. “I got these, love, go sit and rest.”
“Can I at least use the bathroom, or do you wanna do that for me too?” she joked, already heading for the stairs.
Hikaru and Ben stood from the couch. “It’s getting late anyways. Can you send Demora down? We’ll need to leave soon.” Hikaru said.
“Of course,” Nic nodded and headed up the stairs. She stopped in the doorway to James’s bedroom. “Demora, your dads said it’s time to go.”
Demora and the boys frowned. “Five more minutes mum?” James asked.
“I’m sorry boy, but it’s getting late.” Nic told them sadly. “She can come over next weekend if her dads are okay with it.”
“Okay,” the kids sighed. Demora stood up and headed for the bedroom door.
“Bye James, bye Tommy,” she waved at them from the doorway. “Bye Mrs. Scott.”
“Bye Demora, have a wonderful night,” Nic told her as she watched the 7 year old run down the stairs.
Nic headed for the bathroom, and when she stepped out into her and Scotty’s room she spotted something on their dresser. She smirked to herself, an idea coming to her.
“Hey boys,” Nic smiled as she stepped into James’s room. The boys smiled up at their mom as she pulled the toy phasers Scotty had made a few months ago from behind her back. “Do you wanna help me mess with your dad?” Their grins matched hers as they nodded and she handed the phasers to them. “Be quiet and follow my lead. We’re gonna ambush him.” She whispered to them. Nic pulled her own fake phaser out of her sweater pocket and crept down the stairs, James and Thomas following behind her quietly.
She was halfway down the stairs when she called out to her husband. “Honey, have they left?”
“They have!” Scotty called to her as he continued to wash the dishes. Nic shushed her sons as the three of them quietly stepped down the stairs and prepared their attack. “They’re taking Demora to see that new kids movie, the one the boys wanna see.” They reached the bottom of the stairs and snuck farther down the hallway that led to the living room. “Maybe we can go take the boys to see it after school–”
Before Scotty could finish his sentence, Nic and their sons rushed from their hiding spot. They pointed the phasers at him and they lit up, a fake pew pew noise emanating from the toys.
“For the Federation!” James shouted.
“Eat phaser, Klingon scum!” Thomas shouted along with him.
Scotty jumped at the sudden ambush but grinned and shook his head when he realized what they were doing. “Get over here you three,” he said, quickly rushing towards them.
“Boys run!” Nic let out a laugh and shot the fake phaser in Scotty’s direction as James and Thomas ran behind the couch. She followed, although much slower in her current condition. The three shot the fake phasers at Scotty as he chased them, and they wound between the couch and coffee table, heading for the hallway that connects to the stairs.
“Gotcha!” Scotty grabbed onto Nic’s waist and held her close as the boys paused at the entrance to the hallway.
“Mum!” They exclaimed.
“Go on without me!” She told them, feigning distress.
They nodded and rushed up the stairs as they left her. Nic laughed as Scotty pulled her until her back was pressed against his chest. He pressed a kiss to her head.
“You’re sneaky,” he mumbled into her hair. “We’re supposed to be a team, you betrayed me!”
“All’s fair in love and war,” she teased. “But what are you gonna do to me? I’m your prisoner now.”
He chuckled and Nic felt it reverberate into her back. She felt her heart flutter and cursed to herself silently; his laugh always had an effect on her. “I have a few ideas,” he teased in response.
Nic couldn’t help the smirk on her face. “I was counting on it. Boys!”
James and Thomas erupted from the hallway with their phasers and foam dart guns that Kirk had gotten them to make up for taking their dad on the five year mission. While the fake phasers were harmless toys the boys used to play Starfleet, the foam darts became the bane of Scotty’s existence as they never failed to leave welts wherever the darts hit. The boys ran out with black marker on their cheeks and the best war cries they could muster as they fired darts at their father. As quickly as they appeared, the boys ran back to the stairs in a retreat.
“Oh now ye’ve done it,” Scotty said, taking the phaser from Nic’s hand and chasing the boys up the stairs.
She stood there unable to control her laughter as she watched her husband run after their sons. “Don’t worry boys, backup is coming!” She called between fits of laughter. She reached over and grabbed the toy phaser Scotty kept hidden behind the couch cushions for ambushes like these. Nic followed up the stairs as quickly as she could.
Two hours had gone by and the boys were still insisting on playing Starfleet. Nic bowed out of the game after a half hour, unable to keep up with the boys and Scotty. She had fun watching the boys run through the house while Scotty chased them. It was the best way to tire out them and her husband.
Scotty hid in the hallway with his back against the wall, phaser in hand. The boys had hidden behind the couch with the dart guns and it was currently a stand off. Scotty peaked past the corner and didn’t see the boys with their heads poked up. They must be waiting for him to strike first.
“Alright boys, ye’ve won! I surrender,” Scotty told them. He slowly crept into the living room, putting his hands up in a fake surrender. When they didn’t respond, Scotty gripped the phaser a little tighter. He quietly stepped over to the couch, and when he looked at the back of it he was caught by surprise. Thomas and James sat against the back of the couch, leaning against each other asleep. Apparently the standoff lasted longer than he thought it had. Scotty gently took the dart guns from their hands and put them on the couch along with the phaser.
He let out a groan as he picked up both of his sons and carried them upstairs. Neither of them woke up as he placed them in their beds. As soon as Scotty stepped into the hallway, he stretched his back out and let out a groan. Those boys weren’t as small as they used to be. Once he was done stretching, Scotty headed to the bedroom he and Nic shared. She sat in bed already in her pajamas, reading something on her tablet. Tearing her eyes away from the news article she had been reading, Nic smiled up at him as he grabbed a shirt to change into. Scotty silently changed into his night clothes before pulling back the covers and falling into bed beside her.
“The boys are in bed,” he told her quietly.
“An hour earlier than normal. I’m impressed. They really tired themselves out,” she hummed softly and went back to reading her article.
Scotty stifled a yawn. “They tired me out too. I’m not as young as I used to be.”
Nic laughed softly. “Let’s hope our daughter isn’t as much of a handful as her brothers.”
He smiled and put a hand on her stomach. “She’ll be a wee angel, I can already tell.”
“We’ll find out soon. Five weeks until she’s due and then we’ll be outnumbered.” Nic opened a novel she had saved on her tablet. “I was thinking we should take the boys–” when she looked over at Scotty to tell him her idea, she chuckled. He had fallen asleep so quickly. “We can talk about it in the morning,” she whispered. Nic reached over and dimmed the light of her bedside lamp and began to read her novel while her husband snored softly beside her.

Hello again, I am sorry for the awkward messages. I hope that you started to look forward to my asks as much as I look forward to your answers. I felt so motivated with your last answers. I hope that does not make you go soft on me in your judgement. Let me tell you that your guessing is right about Dr Ethan but you have to wait a little bit to know how it was. Here is the new part:
I remember I jumped of my bed as soon as I woke up to find Dr Ethan. I wanted to talk to my parents so much that I almost forgot about my burnt hand. After being forced to eat my breakfast by the nurses, I slipped away looking for Dr Ethan whom I found in his office. I shyly entered: Dr Ethan? He gave me the same kind smile: Hana…Good morning! I remember I hugged my favorite book that he gave me: good morning! Can I call mommy please? He got up from his chair. He approached me quietly then held my hand: Hana, let’s go to your favorite place in the garden, shall we? I shouted: NO! I want to ca… He interrupted me with a quiet yet strict tone: I need to tell you something first. Once again, I gave in to his wish and I let me lead me to my spot in the small garden: Dr Ethan, I miss them, I almost died yesterday, I want them to know. He caught my shoulders firmly yet softly: Hana, Listen to me! I was taken by the seriousness in his eyes and voice while he continued: I tried to contact your parents already…and I learned that they got divorced 2 weeks ago. I repeated after him in confusion: Div..orced? He repeated quietly: Do you know what it means? I bit my lip for a moment: it is a bad thing right? I read in one of the books you gave me that it means family is no more together right? He nodded: you parents were getting ready for divorce even before sending you here; they didn’t want you to know because of how bad you were back then. I asked again: Is it because of me? He replied immediately: no no Hana, things are more complicated than that, but the reason why I am telling you this is that you are not going to live with them anymore. I could not respond this time….My brain stopped functioning for a few seconds. The 10 years old me could only think of one thing. Why? As if he heard my thoughts: As far as I understood, it was an arranged marriage Hana, Mom and Dad didn’t get along very well but they tried as much as they could for your sake; after you were sent here, they could not try any longer. I kept listening quietly as he continued: I have been trying to contact them for weeks even before yesterday’s incident because I think you no longer need to be here. I managed to find your father’s contact information and …. I looked at him expectantly as he said: You will be living with your grandfather from now on. I answered as fast as I could: I don’t have grandfather…I never met any. He expected my answer: I know; He is an archeologist; he is always traveling because of his job, that’s why he never managed to meet you. I protested: I am 10 years old! How could he be busy for 10 years? And why do I have to live with him? Is it because mom and dad hate me? He interrupted me: Hana, Your parents made a choice. They chose their lives, their happiness over yours. It is your turn now to make your choice, either you remain here forgotten or you grab this chance for a new life and a new beginning. It was a hard moment for a 10 years old girl who just learned that her parents went separate ways; it was a tough choice to make when the only option I had was someone I never met. Something in the strict look and firm tone of Dr.Ethan reminded later whenever I remember this moment with how fate is. Cruel in its ways yet merciful when everything unfolds manipulating at first yet honest when everything is eventually revealed. On that day, I learned the second lesson that will remain in my mind for as long as I live One day, whoever you meet will leave you for whatever reason they have and you can only accept it and live with it.
Everything happened too fast for me to recall, Grandpa came later that day. I remember that he kept smiling at me while talking to Dr Ethan about the needed procedures to take me in. I didn’t care to listen to what they said. I was busy reading the short message Dr Ethan left to me in the last present he gave me. “A see you later present” he said.
And remember dear stranger that everything happens on a date. Not a moment earlier or a moment late. One day your path will lead you to the house of fate. And there, I will see you again behind the timeless gate. I kept reading it over and over while looking at him hoping for an explanation but he never cared to do it. All he did was to smile and give me a mysterious wink before he goes to meet my new found relative. He was kinder than I imagined him to be, he kept talking about the places he visited, the things he discovered, the different people he met from everywhere in the world, he even managed to make me smile couple of times before I blurt out the question that I could no longer hold inside me: Why did my parents leave me to you Mr Parker?
He stopped talking for a few seconds then said: Call me grandpa, Hana.
When I noticed how he was looking at me waiting for me to do it, I had to do it: Yes, Grandpa.
He continued: Your father was the one who decided to get married and live far away from me and he was the one who decided to end everything too, one day I will tell be able to explain more but until then I want you to know that I need you in my life as much as you need me so let me give you all the love I have for you sweet Hana and I hope you can give this talkative old man the love your parents could never appreciate. I didn’t notice that my tears started to fall already until he dried my cheeks with his rough big hand: Hey Hana?
Yes, Grandpa?
He smiled even more and said: Do you like Ice cream?
And for the first time in my life, I felt that maybe I still have a chance to be accepted and loved as I have always wished. That's it for this time, It is the part where the backstory or the structure of the character's actions is built and I wanted to make it as clear as possible. I hope my writing style didn't bore you. I want to apologize for staying as anon since I am planning for a long fiction that might be considered by some, re-writing attack on titan which will put unnecessary pressure on me and might lead to unpleasant comments. Thank you so much for your time, I really look forward to what you think.
again, sorry for the late answer, i was a very busy bee this morning, but! i read your story just before going to sleep last night and, oh! i liked it so much! i'm so excited to see what will happen to hange (or, well, hana!) next!
and i dunno why, but i kinda got a series of unfortunate events vibe? you know, the part where baudelaires were sent to their uncle montgomery! the grandpa kinda reminds me of him haha
anyways, i love where this is going and can't wait for more!

Six Baudelaires AU, Part Two {AO3} {Masterlist} {Part One}
Chapter Nine → in which the Baudelaires are given Fashion Lessons
“I really think you’ll like your new guardians.”
The Baudelaires gave each other incredulous and doubtful looks. They were, once again, piled into the back of Mr Poe’s car, on their way to a new guardian. Lilac was holding Sunny very tight, and Nick was holding Solitude even tighter. Solitude kept muttering that he really didn’t need to, but he ignored her. Klaus was leaning against Nick’s arm, trying to keep from crying into his shoulder and not succeeding very well. Violet sat against the window, staring at the streets as Poe jabbered on.
“Your new guardians live very close to your original house- right here in the city!”
“Then why didn’t they take us in before?” Lilac asked.
“I don’t know, I didn’t find it polite to ask.” Poe said. “Ah, here we are.”
He parked his car beside a tall, looming building. There were so many tall, thick trees and huge buildings that almost all light was blocked out.
“This is 667 Dark Avenue.” Poe said. “Now, I’m sure you must be nervous, considering your last few guardians-”
“We’re not nervous.” Violet said. “We’re too anxious to be nervous.”
“We’re anxious about Count Olaf.” Klaus said, his voice a little shaky. “He’s still got the Quagmires.”
“Oh, don’t worry about Count Olaf.” Poe said. “He won’t find you here, the Squalors have assured me of that. And as for your friends, the Quagmire twins will be found soon.”
“They’re triplets.” Lilac said sharply.
“No, the death of their brother changes their birth identity.” Poe said. “Anyway, if you look around town, you’ll see many police cars and wanted posters. There is a citywide manhunt for Count Olaf, which will last until we find the twins.”
“Triplets.” Nick said.
“I’ve recently been promoted,” Poe continued on, “To the bank’s Vice President in Charge of Orphan Affairs. So I’m also in charge of the Quagmires as well as you three. Every update on the manhunt gets reported to me, and every lead. In fact, after I drop you off, I’m going on a helicopter ride to a mountain peak where the Quagmires have been spotted.”
“They’re not in the mountains, they’re with Count Olaf.” Klaus said. “And Count Olaf will follow us.”
“Don’t contradict your elders, Klaus. Now, let’s get you inside.”
Poe stepped out of the car, and Lilac shot her siblings a sympathetic glance before also climbing out.
“Now, I believe the door is… this way?” Poe called, as everyone climbed out.
“It’s this way!” came an unfamiliar voice. A man stepped forwards, wearing a pinstripe suit with very long sleeves and a long hat. “Don’t worry, people often find it hard to find the door. That’s why they hired a doorman. You’re looking for 667 Dark Avenue?”
“Yes.” Poe nodded. “I have an appointment with Mr and Ms Squalor, to bring them the Baudelaires.”
“Oh, yes, they told me you were coming.” said the doorman. “Right this way. Come in.”
The doorman opened the door, and the Baudelaires and Poe stepped into a building that was just as dark, with only a few candles lighting the floor.
“It’s very dark in here.” Lilac said, sounding appreciative.
“Yes.” the doorman said. “Right now, dark is in.”
“In what?” Solitude asked, cocking her head to the side.
“Just in.” the doorman explained. “Around here, people decide whether something is in- stylish and appealing- or out- not that. It changes all the time. Just a couple of weeks ago, light was in, and you had to wear sunglasses all the time.”
“That’s very interesting! I’ll have to tell my wife.” Poe said. “In the meantime, where is the elevator? The Squalors live in the penthouse apartment, and I don’t want to walk all the way to the top floor.”
“The elevator won’t be of any use to you.”
“Oh, is it out of order?” Lilac asked. “I’d be happy to repair it for you. I’m good at repairing things.”
“That’s a very kind and unusual offer.” said the doorman. “But the elevator isn’t out of order. It’s just out. Stairs are in.”
The doorman pulled a flashlight from his pocket, shining it onto a large, spiral staircase, which had candles placed on every six or seventh step.
“How many floors does it go up?” Nick asked.
“Either forty-eight or eighty-four.”
“Goodness! I don’t have that much time.” Poe said. “Children, tell Mr and Ms Squalor that I send my regards.”
“Sure.” Violet sighed. “See you later, Mr Poe.”
“Please find the Quagmires soon.” Klaus said.
Mr Poe waved goodbye, and the siblings slowly started up the staircase. Nick still held tight to Soli, and Lilac held tight to Sunny.
It was a very long and very dark walk. Lilac and Violet switched who was carrying Sunny, sometimes handing her to Klaus, as Nick stubbornly refused to release Solitude, who took Babbitt out of her pocket and petted them for a long while.
“Guess you like this, don’t you, Li?” Nick muttered. “It’s weird goth shit.”
“I actually do like it.” Lilac said. “But I’d enjoy it more if Isadora and Duncan were here.”
“Duncan would love to do a report on everything that’s in and out.” Klaus sighed.
“And Isadora would have a lot of poetry material.” Violet added.
“Pirt,” Sunny said, which meant, “And we’d all be together.”
They fell silent again, and then quietly, Lilac started to sing. She sang a song that was normally played very loud and energetic, but she gave it a slower melody, quietly soothing Sunny as they walked up and up the large staircase. It was a song about how everybody’s looking for something, and as they walked, listening to Lilac’s soft voice, they all really hoped that whoever was looking for the Quagmires would find them quickly.
When they finally reached the top of the staircase, exhausted, Nick said, “Well. Glad we’re all well exercised.”
“Not now, Nick. I’m too tired to bitch with you.” Violet groaned.
Klaus glanced around the outside of the penthouse. One candle was in the corner of the landing, showcasing two pairs of sliding elevator doors, and one large door that led to their temporary home.
“To think,” he said, “If we’d used the elevator, we’d be here in a few moments.”
“Elevators aren’t in.” Nick said, in a mocking voice.
“Tired feet are in.” Klaus giggled slightly.
“Making kids exercise is in.”
“Candles are in.”
“Lilac’s goth shit is in.”
“Oh, stop.” Lilac said, placing Sunny on the ground. “Let’s knock on the door. Hopefully our guardians are home.”
But before she could knock, the door flew open, and a tall man in a pinstripe suit said, “Ah! I thought I heard someone approaching! You must be the Baudelaires!”
“Hello, Mr Squalor!” Lilac said. “I’m Lilac Baudelaire, and these are my siblings, Violet, Nick, Klaus, Solitude and Sunny.”
“Solitude, put the frog away.” Nick whispered, and Solitude stealthily shoved Babbitt into her pocket.
“Goodness, you sound out of breath!” Mr Squalor said. “I know two things that can help with that. First, you can save your breath and call me ‘Jerome’ instead of ‘Mr Squalor,’ and second, I can fix you a nice cold martini.”
“Martini?” Sunny asked, as Jerome held open the door for them to walk inside.
“Isn’t that alcoholic?” Klaus asked.
“How much can we have?” Nick asked.
They walked into a very dimly lit entryway, that seemed to be in black-and-white- though that might have been the lack of light.
“Usually they are,” Jerome said, “But right now, alcoholic martinis are out, and aqueous martinis are in.”
“What’s an aqueous martini?” Violet asked.
“It’s cold water in a fancy glass with an olive.” Jerome said. He walked them into a room that might have been a kitchen, and pulled out several small glasses he’d already prepared.
“We’ve never had aqueous martinis,” Violet said, “But we’ll try them.”
“Ah, you’re very adventurous!” Jerome said. “Just like your mother. We were friends a ways back. We hiked up Mount Fraught with some friends- gosh, it must have been twenty years ago-”
“Was one of those friends Monty Montgomery?” Nick asked.
“Or Josephine Anwhistle?” Lilac asked.
“Hmm? Oh, no, just the Snickets and that Markson boy.”
Lilac narrowed her eyes. “Who?”
“You were really friends with Mom?” Nick asked.
“Oh, yes.” Jerome nodded. “It’s been a few years, but as soon as I heard about the fire I wanted to adopt you. Unfortunately, that was impossible.”
They then heard a very loud voice say, “Orphans were out then! But now they’re in!”
The Baudelaires turned to see a tall woman enter, also dressed in a pinstripe suit. She had long fingernails, polished so they shone even in the dim light.
“Good evening.” she said.
“It’s mid-morning, my dear.” Jerome said.
“I am Esme Gigi Genevieve Squalor, the city’s sixth most important financial advisor.” she announced, strutting in and taking an aqueous martini from the plate. “Even though I’m unbelievably wealthy, you may call me Esme. I’ll learn your names later. I’m very happy you’re here, because orphans are in, and when everyone hears that I have six real live orphans, they’ll be sick with jealousy, won’t they, Jerome?”
“I hope not.” Jerome said. “I don’t like to hear of anybody getting sick.”
“Well, children, come with us to the closest living room,” Esme said, “And we’ll tell you all about your new life.”
As she walked, Klaus ran to catch up to her. “We’re very glad you’re interested in orphans,” he said, “Because we have two more orphans we’d like to find soon.”
“Ah, yes, the Quagmires. Terrible what happened to them. We were told all about it.” Esme said. “Don’t you worry, as soon as they’re found, you’ll live with them.”
“Do you really mean it?” Violet asked, eyes lighting up.
“Of course.” Esme nodded. “Always good to have a few spares laying around.”
The Baudelaires glanced at each other as they entered a huge room, covered in fancy furniture and facing a tall, unlit fireplace. There were curtains taped over several windows, to let a little light in as possible.
“I think I like your home,” Lilac said, sitting on the edge of a couch and placing Sunny beside her. “I’m very glad that dark is in.”
“I’m glad to hear it!” Esme said. “Good of you orphans to have some fashion sense.”
Violet sat beside Lilac, followed by Nick and Klaus, the former of whom placed Solitude firmly on his lap.
“Alright,” Jerome said, as he made sure each child was given a martini, “Let’s see. If you ever get lost, remember that your new address is 667 Dark Avenue in the penthouse apartment.”
“Jerome, don’t tell them silly things like that.” Esme said, waving her hand. “Children, here’s the important things. Dark is in. Light is out. Stairs are in. Elevators are out. Pinstripe suits are in. Those horrible things you’re wearing are out.”
“What Esme means,” Jerome said, “Is that we want you to feel as comfortable here as possible.”
“That’s very nice of you.” Violet said, sipping her aqueous martini and trying not to pull a face.
“Frog?” Solitude asked, looking up.
“What my sister means,” Nick said, “Is that she’s wondering if herpetology is in.”
“Well, we’ll have to check the library.” Esme said.
“You have a library?” Klaus asked.
“Yes!” Esme said. “It’s a collection of everything that’s in!”
“Which reminds me, you can have your pick of bedrooms!” Jerome said. “We have seventy-one, so you can-”
A phone rang against the wall, and Esme rushed over, grabbing it and speaking fast. “Squalor residence. Yes, this is Ms Squalor. Yes. Yes. Yes? Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!” She hung up and then whipped back around. “Fantastic news! It’s what we were just talking about!”
“The Quagmires have been found?” Klaus asked.
“Oh, no, don’t be silly.” Esme said. “Jerome, children, listen to me- dark is out! Regular light is in!”
“Well, it’ll be a relief to get some light around this place.” Jerome said. “Children, help me open the shades and you can get a look at the view from up here.”
“I’ll turn on the lamps and then run in panicky circles!”  Esme said. “Quickly, before anybody sees that this apartment is still dark!”
She raced off, and Jerome showed the Baudelaires to the windows. They flung open the curtains, looking down at the spectacular view; they were so high up, all the cars dashing across the street looked like ants.
“It’s beautiful.” Violet said.
“High up.” Solitude muttered, clinging to Nick slightly.
“Jerome,” Klaus said, a little sadly, “I can see our old neighborhood from here.”
“Yes, you can see everything.” Jerome said. “Look, those are the orange juice factories. And that’s my favorite restaurant. And look down there! They’re already cutting down the trees that made the street dark.”
“Of course they’re cutting them down!” Esme said, running back into the room. “Regular light is in!”
“Now, children,” Jerome said, “Why don’t we find you rooms, and get you all set? I’ll even get you your pinstripe suits!”
“Thank you.” Lilac said. Then, she added, “We’re happy that orphans are in.”
None of them asked what would happen when orphans were out.

The shape of you. Kind of Harringrove Modern Au
I honestly don’t know how to call this so I borrow the title from Ed Sheeran. Anyway the day before yesterday I wake up with this idea, I didn’t post it that day because I’m awful administrating my time and I got distracted easily.
For the sake of this plot, you need to have this information for reference. So according to this page Joe and Dacre's measurements are:
Joe Keery: 74 kg = 163 lbs / 1,80 cm =5 ft 11 inches Dacre Montgomery : 77 kg = 170 lbs / 1,78 cm = 5 ft 10 inches 12 Kg = 26 lbs
Note: I found interesting that in numbers there isn’t much difference between them.
Note two: I found hilarious that in the page the distinctive features Joe are: long hair and boy next door appearance.
I don’t know much about gym or diets, just basic stuff. You can leave a comment if I make a mistake.
• The day that Steve got the invitation for Nancy and Jonathan’s wedding he knew that he got a problem. Don’t take him wrong he cares and is happy for them, but it’s been a long time (years) since he last saw them and…he isn’t exactly the same.
• After graduating and start working with his father learning the basics, you know from the bottom, it was easy to stay in contact with the kids and everyone since he still stayed on his parent's house, but after moving out to be close to the branch office in Chicago he maintained contact mostly by phone.
• He thought he was going to hate working from his father but the work was actually pretty nice, apparently his people skills and quick thinking were an important asset in that line of work, for once he didn’t feel like lacking.
Also, he had Edna, his secretary, that woman still conserved her wit at her sixties, sharp as a knife. She helped him and compensate his youth and the bad judgments that come with it sometimes.
• Something that he learned that school didn’t teach him was that sometimes it was more important how you do things than what you do, in other words, it didn’t matter if you knew what were you doing or not, always be confident. One thing that seems to work was inviting investors or close deals by paying a dinner in a good restaurant or drinks in a bar.
• So it was inevitable to gain some weight, he worked in an office and when he didn’t he was too exhausted to work out, he wanted to relax a bit, watch T.V and eat Chinese, ok? Also, he didn’t gain so much just 26 lbs.
It wasn’t a big deal but still he didn’t want to be the one to look like he left himself go (you know the one that people talk at his back in high school reunions), it was stupid but he has pride and he’ll be damn if he became the first one of the group.
• He couldn’t decline not only it would be rude and coward on his part, but also because Jonathan requested to be one of his best men. (To be honest, in my mind I imagine Nancy being the one to do the request but at the same time and for plot reasons, I don’t see him as a bridesmaid (It would be funny, not going to lie))
• He had like four months to lose the extra weight which he couldn’t do alone, so he subscribe to a gym that was a bit far from his apartment but it was the best according to the nephew of Edna and if she says it was good then it was good.
• It was the first time going to a gym, especially one where he didn’t know anyone so he was kind of nervous and for the sweet way the receptionist treat him, he wasn’t doing a good job trying to no let it show. They took his measures, weight and his body mass.
The instructor that was assigned to him was some Billy Hargrove, he will help him not only to lose weight but gain some confidence.
• Holy shit. He just saw who was going to be his instructor and he was so fucked up, it would be a miracle for him to end this session without an erection. The guy was beautiful, stunning blue eyes, short blond hair a bit curly in the front, strong jaw and a body to die for. Damn.
• Now he understood what they said he will help him with his confidence, the guy not only exudes sex appeal but also charisma, he knew that he was just being nice but it was hard not to be flustered with was coming out of his mouth.
The instructions were simple he was going to get married to cardio and weightlifting, also he needed to reduce his carbohydrates intake, he couldn’t eat more than his body could burn. The good thing is that he wasn’t going to die of hunger, his calories intake should be between 3.000 -7.000.
• That’s how his journey started, his diet changed drastically, no more takeouts, fried foods, always drinking water, his only snacks between meal were veggies and nuts. If it weren’t for Edna he wouldn’t have lasted, she always makes sure that he didn’t cheat or forget to eat at a time. It was a shame that she couldn’t help him with his crush of Billy, he couldn’t have nothing with the guy since it was against the policy of the gym but one could dream, and how did he dream.
After Nancy he dated some girls and mess around with some guys, nothing serious but its been a while since the last time he had sex, God he was just 25 and already live the life of a fifty-year-old salaryman.
• By the third month, he loses all the extra weight and he really feels good, he forgot how good it felt to run in the morning and wake up full of energy. Now that he reached his goal it was up to him to maintain and keep the hard work. He was going to miss Billy though, he could ask him out now but he didn’t want to leave the wrong impression and be one of those people.
• He got his chance in a coffee shop and found him sitting alone at a table, he went to say hi, one thing leads to another and in the end, he got his number.
• He didn’t want to disturb him at work so he tries to send texts during his lunch break or after work, in one memorable occasion, he sends him a text in the morning, in his defense he was excited that morning he discovered that he has abs! He couldn’t remember having it in high school, he needed to share the news so he sends a photo to Billy.
• His relation at work was better, his new energy made the load of work easy to handle, he smiled more thanks to Billy, everyone in the office could see the changes especially after buying new clothes and getting a haircut.
People were giving him and trying to get his attention, but Steve was oblivious to it, could it be that he only has eyes for Billy or the fact that he got used to not attract the attention of anyone in the office, that now he couldn’t see more than friendliness in the approach of the same people that a few months ago didn’t mind him.
• He goes to New York a week earlier so they can take his measures for the smoking, a brief tour of where was going to be the wedding and practice the do’s and don’t’s. It was nice to see everyone again, especially the “kids” but he couldn’t stop thinking of Billy. He wished that he were here with him.
• The wedding was beautiful, the reception, the food, he danced with Nancy, Mrs. Wheeler and Mrs. Byers and some cousins and still the only thing that came to his mind was the blond.
• The first thing that he did at his return was to ask him out, which was the correct thing to do apparently Billy was dying to do the same, according to Billy he didn’t take the step for how disinterested Steve seemed at his advances. To Steve seeing Billy flirt in the coffee shop and the stares he attracted, make him believe that he didn’t have a chance.
He was surprised to find that he did have a chance from the first day, the things that really matter didn’t change with more or less weight (Billy’s words), it was sweet until he mentioned his dick and perky ass, he almost redeems himself complementing his eyes, almost. The apology sex was more than enough.
The other version of this Au was that Billy and Steve met before in high school, everything would be the same except that Billy would tease the shit out of Steve in the gym.
