You know how I love offbeat properties and I found this seller's For-Sale-By-Owner ad on Zillow. He started building the home in 1969, in Eureka, California, and it's been under construction for 43 years! It's a French ornamented cathedral Gothic, with all custom ornaments, molds and scaffolding techniques. This mansion is based on Newport, Rhode Island style and spirit from the 19th Century.
Tumblr media
This is what it's supposed to look like - The Vision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, in 43 yrs., this is what he's done so far. He's asking $4.5M. Now, he has been living in it, so you can live in the finished part. The house is being sold furnished, and what furnishings! Read what he wrote about them below:
Tumblr media
"Also for sale here are 1500 sq. ft of the ultimate grade palatial antique Italian marquetry, veneer and solid wood furniture, ranging from console tables and mirrors; 10 different sizes of round antique tables, up to a 12' x 6' museum-piece dining table, various rare cabinets, marquetry, upholstered chairs, couches, china and other cabinets, solid gold (plated) grandfather clock and two huge antique chandeliers, all worth over $300k on the market now and arguably TWICE that!"
Tumblr media
This outer door is amazing.
Tumblr media
Here's a gargoyle and other ornamentation that still has to go on the house.
Tumblr media
But, look at this - it says the exterior designs are ready for installation "when the lawsuit is over." So, the property is involved in a lawsuit, too? (Check the blog - I found the lawsuit papers and posted it.)
Tumblr media
There's so much stuff here.
Tumblr media
This room is done. It must be a ballroom. I don't know what to make of all this. This looks like the Romanoff's place.
Tumblr media
This must be a music room. There's a harpsicord and a harp in here.
Tumblr media
Look at these walls. He says the walls are hand done- are these the actual walls?
Tumblr media
The walls are hand painted according to the description.
Tumblr media
Here's a mantel waiting to be installed.
Tumblr media
This is going to be the kitchen.
Tumblr media
The gold double sink.
Tumblr media
I don't know if this is an old picture of the original inspiration for this home, but it's definitely a representation of the home itself.
Tumblr media
This is an amazing fireplace.
Tumblr media
Another beautiful fireplace.
Tumblr media
He's using the bedroom, but it's not finished.
Tumblr media
I'm disappointed in this bathroom. Maybe it's just temporary?
Tumblr media
He has a lot of photos of the furniture and these are really primo antiques. So, this would be one of the dining rooms.
Tumblr media
This looks like a brand new bedroom set. Looks like a furniture store that used to be near me called Roma Furniture.
Tumblr media
The chandelier in the ballroom that he says is included in the sale.
Tumblr media
One of the sitting rooms.
Tumblr media
Nice inlaid table.
Tumblr media
There's a lot of furniture. If you want to see it all, click on the link b/c he's posted 100 photos. But, I'm very confused.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The property measures 6 acres and there are "massive fall color and rose gardens, 20,000 plantings, plus 10,000 daffodil, iris, lily, etc. Bulbs are spread over 6 acres, still there mostly, alive and colorful. Plus, hundreds of valuable landscaping sculptures are included."

The Ring
Pairing: Han Jisung x Reader (ft. Kim Seungmin) Ghost AU; Possession AU Genre: Fluff Words: 1451 Warnings: suggestive content; strong language

“Don’t tell me you’re actually gonna buy something from here. This place is low-key creeping me out, Jisung.” Seungmin eyed the slightly-older boy with judgment. They’d been exploring one of their tour cities and had come across an antique shop. It was littered with dolls and other children’s toys—all of which Seungmin felt like were staring him down. There was also vintage furniture and electronics. The cameras did sort of pique Seungmin’s interest, but he already had a really nice modern camera. Besides, this store was really starting to freak him out.
Why did all the dolls have to be so scary?
“Just let me look through some of the jewelry… These rings are cool, and they’re so high-quality.” Jisung reasoned, never able to say no to a new piece of jewelry.
“Yeah, ‘cause you totally need another ring to add to your collection. You definitely don’t have over a hundred rings that you’ve never even worn because you always wear the same ones.” Regardless, Seungmin left to let Jisung pick out rings, deciding to go further into the store to escape the many glass eyes.
Jisung was trying to narrow down his choices between three rings when he suddenly spotted one that he hadn’t seen before. He put the other three back and walked over to the cashier’s glass desk.
“Um… Excuse me?” He called for the attention of the owner and then pointed towards the ring. “How much for that ring?” The old lady walked over, peered into the glass, and then looked up to Jisung with a wary look. She eyed him for a moment, almost as though considering something.
“It’s about five dollars, but are you sure about that one? It’s quite old…” But Jisung thought it looked nice, and he had a good feeling about that one. It really stuck out to him.
“Yes ma’am, thank you.” He insisted, pulling his wallet out to pay. When she began to package it, he told her he was fine wearing it out.
🎃
Despite Seungmin’s claims—which were not entirely baseless, Jisung did have a shit-ton of rings back home he never wears—Jisung wore his new addition almost daily. So much so that he started growing a weird attachment to it in some of the other’s eyes.
He cleaned it often, even polished it sometimes. Though, he never took it to performances in fear of it getting stolen or lost; instead, when he wasn’t wearing it, it had a special home on his nightstand.
One morning he woke up, reached out to put his ring on, and came up empty handed. He did a double-take when he didn’t feel his new favorite ring anywhere near its usual spot. He looked all around his nightstand, underneath his bed, and tore his blankets off in case he accidentally fell asleep wearing it.
Nothing. He could not find it anywhere. As he re-made his bed, he tried to remember if there was anywhere else he may have left it. He checked the bathroom sink, just to be sure, but he was ninety-nine percent sure he had put it on his nightstand, just like he did every night.
Then he took to checking his roommates' fingers. None of them were wearing it, so he asked if any of them took it without asking first.
And then he began to panic. He wondered if he had carelessly taken it to a performance or shoot and left it behind. When he went back to his room to try and think more, there it sat right where he always put it. The things all around it were still a mess from his hasteful search earlier, but it sat perfect and pretty in its proper position. Strange.
🎃
Jisung elected not to take it on tour with him. After somehow misplacing it, he didn’t want to risk actually losing it in travels. He packed some of his other rings to accompany him to Japan instead and left his favorite ring to wait for him on his nightstand as usual.
What he didn’t expect to return to, was a woman sitting comfortably in the middle of his bed as though she lived there. He wasn’t sure how exactly she got in either since he locks his room every time they leave, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to stick around to ask her.
Instead, he rushed to get Chan, explaining that somehow a sasaeng must have gotten in and was currently sitting in his room. When they returned with a manager that lived in the building, the woman was gone. The only thing that was different was his favorite ring sitting in the center of his bed rather than the nightstand.
🎃
The other members were still convinced it had been a sasaeng, and she must’ve snuck out somehow. When Jisung brought up the fact that nothing was missing and the only thing that had moved was his ring, they claimed she was likely planning on taking it since Stays knew it was his favorite. He was commonly seen wearing it in selfies and livestreams, so it wouldn’t be that far fetched of an explanation.
Jisung was not convinced. He wasn’t unaware of his quick attachment to the ring. And he knows that he never forgets to put it on his nightstand at night. The newest incident was just the cherry on top.
But what kind of ghost possesses a ring? A house, sure. A mirror, believable. A doll, seen thousands of times. But a ring? Jisung needed to know why, and why it… she chose him.
🎃
He didn’t have to wait long. The next night he woke from a rather peaceful sleep to the sounds of shuffling around his room. When he peeked his eyes open, the same woman was rifling through his drawers.
“Um… hello?” He whispered out, scared to disturb the quiet atmosphere of his room and not wanting to wake his other members. “Are– Do you live inside my ring?” He asked, but he got his answer when he noticed his ring was once again missing from its place.
“Well, technically it’s my ring, but you bought it so… yes.” She responded, putting the clothes she was holding back in the drawer and closing it.
“What are you looking for?” He decided to ask first, too nervous to ask the other questions on his mind yet. She shrugged and moved closer to his half-sitting, half-lying figure. “Why are you in the ring?” He tried asking next.
“Like I said… It's my ring.” He thought she was going to stop there but then her features softened, and she spoke up again. “It was my fiancé’s ring… but he passed away before we could marry. We believed in reincarnation, and I wanted to see him in his next life, so here I am.” Jisung felt his heart break at the story, though not yet outweighing the anxiety of having a supernatural being in his room.
“So… why me? You’re the reason I noticed the ring in that shop I assume… and the reason I’m so attached.” The woman smiled slightly, but shook her head.
“I can’t make you do anything. It’s all on your own volition. Jisung, is it?” She waited for confirmation, and when he nodded, she continued. “Jisung, do you recognize me at all?” He studied her features for a moment.
“You were in my room the other day when we all got back from Japan.” He said, not knowing any other answer to give. She snorted a bit, before it settled into a smirk.
“I’ve manifested this form more than just that time. But do you recognize me?” She asked again; and again, Jisung analyzed her, trying to pick up on any familiarities. Eventually, he shook his head, and it seemed like the woman’s face fell slightly. He wanted to ask her about it, but decided he might not be ready for whatever answer she gave.
“So, can you feel and see when you’re inside the ring too, or only in this form?” He decided to ask instead. The woman seemed to consider his question. Her face lit up in amusement, and Jisung assumed she was remembering something.
“The short answer is yes, I can sort of feel things when I’m inside the ring.”
“And the long answer?” Curious, he couldn’t help but ask. Her lips twitched with a humored smirk.
“The long answer… Maybe don’t masturbate with the ring on, Ji.” His face flushed with embarrassment and he moved to hide underneath his covers. “Trust me, you have nothing to be embarrassed about that for.” She teased and he felt like his entire body lit on fire all at once.

antique store near me that i go in occassionally to torture myself because they specialize in restored historical furniture that is like, within the furniture budget of an Average Middle Class Person (i assume) as in comparable price tags would get you overpriced particle board garbage from those surface level fancy modern furniture stores but still completely out of my grasp within this lifetime

further thoughts on old sewing machines
I've read the replies and comments on the thing I reblogged about sewing machines and planned obsolescence / "they don't make 'em like they used to." You know me, I have more words to offer, and the basis here is the people saying "damn, I want one", "wow, how can I get one for reasonable?" and "you can get parts?" Read on...
First, let me show you what my friend sent me yesterday in a text. She was so jazzed that she wanted me to see it, and she doesn't even know I run a blog like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So here you see a White trundle sewing machine from the late 1910s to early 1920s. You can also see that it was either taken very good care of or completely restored, or both, and you have little doubt in looking at the first picture that it'll put together a prom dress or hem your cuffs at a moment's notice, and this isn't just a museum piece. In the below, I'm not just talking about the big ol' centagenarians, I mean pre-1990 Singers and everything inbetween.
You ask: Where can I find a hardy old sewing machine? The obvious answer of antique stores aside, you can find them in thrifts. Not necessarily Goodwill because they're capitalists who have tried to get away from furniture and heavy stuff, but most of the others have them and I warn you that you may have to cut a bitch (or be cut) if one shows up at Deseret Industries. I wish I still had the photo of the time a now-departed St. Vincent de Paul near me had TWO different White models on the floor, each for less than what some people pay for Starbucks in a week, and my memory says that if they didn't spin like a top right that second a couple hours with household products and maybe a Google search plus shipping time would have these things in a functional state your great-grandmother would approve of. It's a regular thing that I go into thrifts and there's a sewing machine case on a low shelf near the electronics that is older than your mother and twice as reliable.
You ask: How much will this set me back? Depends upon where you're shopping. Obviously antique stores will have them for more than thrifts, and sometimes you find them at estate sales (again, expect to cut a bitch) for either an antique price or a "take it away" solid price. Consider it a great day if you spend $10-$25 to get this off someone's shelf and out of someone's life.
You ask: Repairs and maintenance, what about that? I don't know a lot about the mechanics but the older they are, the simpler they get. Resources are out there on how to fix problems (books and YouTube videos) and obtain parts, and professionals exist who live to do both. You probably know someone who has machine sewed for decades; you could ask them for insight on how to get things back into shape. People in comments on that post named some sources for replacement parts after others said they were stymied by trying to find the doodad they needed.
You didn't ask: You seem to have some passion about this despite not being a sewing machine owner or user. What machines did you grow up with? My sainted grandmother had a 1960s Singer 401A. (Photos are NOT of her machine, I nabbed them from teh interweb.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My mother still has and uses periodically her 1970s Singer 758. (Again, not my photo and I haven't seen hers out when I've visited lately.)

YOU HAVE A OLIVER GRAHAM SKYRIM AU!! (I know nothing about Skyrim)
I DO!! For the past like 2 months I've done next to nothing other than playing Skyrim and learning about Skyrim but I have the 2 of them on my mind constantly so Of Course I put them in Skyrim!!
I'll explain the AU in a second under the cut, but before that, to get the basics out of the way - Skyrim is a game in the Elder Scrolls franchise where the main character, you know, runs around, kills dragons, and does quests for the people of Skyrim. It's also very fun and I love it. It's also far too big to properly explain in a single paragraph so I'll try to provide context as I go.
Now, I don't think either of them would take on the role of the main characters, so with the AU I mostly tried to focus on what they'd do/be like in Skyrim, as just normal NPCs. And the first thing I wanted to decide was Where to put them on the map. Said map, for context:
Tumblr media
Let's start with Graham for now. In the AU he was born and grew up in Solitude (the city in the North, on the left side of the map). His parents owned a general goods store there, but seeing as there's already a different one in the city, business was,, slow, so they took orders from other cities as well. At some point, they both set out to transport a bigger order to Markath (The city in the West), but... well. The roads around Markath are particularly dangerous, and they didn't even make it to the city before they were attacked. This is this AU's version of them dying in a car accident on the M1 near Sheffield.
At their insistence, Graham stayed behind to watch the shop, so he was still safe within the city's walls and inherited the place. He tried to keep it open for a while, but eventually struck a deal with the other shop owner - he closes down his store and in exchange, he will get permanently hired in hers. She'd be his boss, but he'd still have a job and the business should get easier to keep afloat.
Solitude is also one of the 2 cities with a college available - the bard's college, and just like in mag 003, he takes a few classes there to kill the time and broaden his mind. Is he a bard? No. Does he know a couple of songs now? Yeah :]
I also found a very fun way of translating his passion for interesting antique furniture into Skyrim! He's one of those people who looove learning about the Dwemer. The Dwemer/Dwarves were a race of elves that was Incredibly advanced, they had huge underground cities, technology, all that... but then hundreds if not thousands of years before Skyrim takes place, they just,, poof! Disappeared! And after all that time, their robots still work while the rest of the world is running around with swords (and magic), so a LOT of people are trying to learn more about their technology, inventions, culture, etc.
And Graham is one of those people. Show him a chunk of Solid Dwemer Metal and he will buy it from you no matter the cost. He also wanted to move to Markath one day, seeing as the city was built on Top of a Dwemer ruin... but well, after what happened to his parents, he's less eager.
One last thing I want to say about him is just his general armor/weapon preference: He strikes me as your average heavy armor one-handed sword user, but he also dabbles in magic a bit. Now, magic is kinda frowned upon by a lot of people in Skyrim, so he's not Loud about it, but he does know a fair few restoration spells. That extra bit of health can be really helpful and all, you know?
Now, onto Oliver!
Oliver doesn't live in Solitude. In fact, he's never visited it, even! He grew up in Dawnstar (North city, middle of the map), and I think he Might've briefly moved to Winterhold to attend a semester or so in the Mage's College, but he quickly moved back home. I also think he might've been on his way to joining the Jarl's court (the Jarl is basically the head of the city and they have a court, which usually has a Stuart (handles finances), court wizard (handles magic stuff), but a few extra people too, depending on the city), however, with how Messy everything's been lately, he just had to take a solid step back.
You see, Dawnstar is a smaller city. Hell, they don't even have a general goods store! There's a caravan that sets up camp by the town every couple days/weeks, so they can still get their supplies, but it's all very limited. Not to mention, something's been Off in Dawnstar lately. All of the residents have been plagued by horrible nightmares. Nightmares of death and alike, that may or may not have something to do with a powerful entity affecting their memories.
Which, you know. Fits Oliver, doesn't it? Nightmares, death, powerful Thing responsible for them, as well as patchy memory? Best part is, This Is Literally In The Game. This Is What's Happening In Dawnstar At The Start Of The Game. I'm sure you can see why I put Oliver in this city rather than any bigger one, right? :]
Now, regardless of whether I'll end up deciding he's been to the Mage's College or not, he does know a fair couple of spells as well - mostly Illusion ones but I think I can let him know a Destruction Spell or two - maybe Flames? Just like Graham, he doesn't talk about using magic much to make sure other people don't look at him differently, but he's quite proficient with his magic regardless.
Other than that, he prefers light armor over heavy armor, and uses bows rather than melee weapons. He just hates being in the heat of the battle, is all. And the distance is safer! Of course, if push comes to shove, he probably has a dagger and it's also possible to use Destruction magic up close, so he's not entirely defenceless... just less likely to come out of it unscathed.
Like I mentioned, with everything happening in Dawnstar he ended up taking a step back from trying to earn his place in the Jarl's court, and doesn't exactly have a job per-se anymore, he just helps around? Runs errands for people if needed, and helps out the old lady at the alchemy store by looking for ingredients for her outside the city as well.
Now with all that background information out of the way (tears in my eyes there is so much of this), the proper plot:
The Caravan that usually sets camp by Dawnstar was attacked by bandits on their way. They weren't killed or anything, but lost quite a few of their goods, so they don't have much to offer. Since the town relies on their supplies and is running quite low, the Jarl decides not to wait until they're back with more supplies and sends Oliver to the nearest town that can provide everything they need - Solitude.
The issue is, going from Dawnstar to Solitude through the official roads takes 2-3 days, depending on your pace and the amount of stops you take, and they need supplies ASAP, so instead of backtracking South and going through Morthal, Oliver decides to head straight West - through the marsh. It makes the journey take a bit over a day, but the marsh is also full of things that want to murder you.
I actually walked that path in the game just to see, and I ran into a dozen Mudcrabs (not strong but camouflage well), a troll (very dangerous) and even a bug-creature that poisons you. I had to resort to running most of the way, and it all ends in having to cross a very strong river. Which is to say, Oliver makes it to Solitude in a day, but Good Lord does he nearly die like 5 times on the way.
He gets a bit lucky, though, because as he jumped into the river to get away from the things chasing him, extinguishing his torch in the process, Graham just so happened to be outside of the city walls and spotted the light going out. And yeah, Graham's not a fan of leaving the city, but he also gets worried about travellers easily, so he decides to go down to the river bank to see what happened.
He uses his restoration magic to heal Oliver back up, or at least keep him stable in spite of being poisoned, and then helps him to the town and the tavern/inn. They get to know each other a bit over some food and then part ways.
The next day, Oliver does what he's been sent to do - goes shopping. He spends most of the gold he was given at the general goods store, and is very surprised to find out that Graham actually works there! They chat for a bit and Oliver explains he'll probably be heading back to Dawnstar now that he bought everything the city needs, and, well...
Even if he's not heading to Markath, the roads can be dangerous and riddled with bandits, and Graham really likes Oliver's company already, so,, he offers to escort him there! Watch his back and all! As well as make sure he sticks to the proper path instead of cutting corners and trying his luck in the marsh again.
They get even closer during their 2-day journey, and it just so happens that Apparently There Are Some Dwemer Ruins By The Road To Dawnstar???? Between that, and Oliver himself, Graham starts considering moving a bit closer to Dawnstar. Not into it, at Oliver's insistence, seeing as that would mean the nightmares would get to him as well, but somewhere close :]
I think he and Oliver will eventually open a general goods store + Tavern/Inn between Dawnstar and Morthal, seeing as neither of the cities have a general goods store and making it into an Inn as well makes travelling there for supplies safer (you can stay the night if you head out too late to make it back before dusk). And yeah, they'll probably go somewhere from there :]
"Unrelated" fun fact, you can get gay married in Skyrim!
If you have any questions re:the au or just like skyrim in general feel free to ask me i am. "normal" about both of them. as evidenced by the length of this post. I just checked and this is 1.7k words. Good lord.

Manners
“Oh right, Spud, remember to pick up two bottles of sherry or gin or something of the like from the store to bring to Alec’s” said Ralph as he slipped into his shoes. “And something to eat as well. I won’t be off until after the shops close tonight.” He stood by the door, quickly surveying the room and himself in a final check —for keys, wallet, papers left behind —before picking up his brief case and umbrella.
“I didn’t realize we had to bring the drinks ourselves,” said Laurie as he leaned in for his kiss. “Thought it was a bit of free.”
Ralph laughed and placed a spare hand on one side of Laurie’s face, stroking it gently. “I gather it was a spontaneous invitation from Sandy last time for you, but usually it is one bottle and one meal per person.”
“I hadn’t realized….I thought…..” Laurie blushed as he remembered his eagerness to barge into the party, in search of Lanyon, which must have been quite obvious and apparent to all at the party but himself.
“Alec and Sandy may be doctors,” Ralph continued, chuckling as he watched Laurie turn a light shade of pink, ever charmed by Spud’s red-head complexion, “but they don’t get paid much while they’re still in training. I don’t think even Alec would have us back again if we show up and eat them out of house and home.”
Laurie lifted Ralph’s hand from his face and entwined their fingers. “Alright. Is there anything in particular they’d like? I remember Sandy is quite found of Brussel sprouts, but it’s really not the season for those right now.”
“I usually bring sandwiches. But if you want, you can bring them veg and Alec will find a way to cook it.”
Laurie gave Ralph’s hand —it was his bad one —a little peck, one on each knuckle, before letting it go. “We’ll see what’s left once it’s my turn in the queue.”
He made a face that conveyed good humored resignation, which was received with a knowing sigh.
“I was also planning to give Theo a jar of the marmalade my mother sent me when I see him at the party,” he continued, changing the topic slightly, as he recalled the tentative guest list that Alec had shared with him. “To thank him for helping us with the table. Do you that’ll be enough?”
Theo Summer was surprisingly skilled in carpentry, having spent his adolescent summers in his grandmother’s old and decrepit country manor, fixing up some of the antiques she could no longer afford to have professionally fixed but was stubbornly unwilling to sell off. He’d offered his skills to them last month when he heard about their broken dinning table. The waiting lists for new utility furniture were three months long. After Ralph’s failed attempt at restoring the old thing to a usable condition, Laurie had resigned himself to the prospect of eating on a rug on the floor like in those images he’d seen in travel books about the Near East.
“I think it’s a good idea, Spud. I almost forgot. Thank you for remembering.” He pressed another light kiss to Laurie’s lips, and turned to go. “Let them know I’ll arrive after seven. Goodbye.”
*
There were no pre-made sandwiches left in the store by the time Laurie got in. Perhaps he shouldn’t have had that tea before setting out for the shops. He looked over at the vegetable aisle. There were a few sad pieces of spring greens, some overly ripe tomatoes, and soft cucumbers that did not pass the “squish” test. But further down the aisle were peas, lots of them, and they were fresh. And so Laurie left the grocer’s with a large bag of peas, three tomatoes (once he’d mashed them and made them into paste, no one would be able to tell that they’d likely just started going bad, he told himself), one cucumber (it was soft but smelled alright, he thought) a few packs of powered milk, and four tins of spam, because they still had some meat rations left for this month. The peas and cucumber would make a great salad for Alec’s party, and the jammed tomatoes and tinned spam would last him and Ralph a while.
He found better luck in the off-licence. There was mead from the local farms, which Alec adored, and some whiskey for Sandy.
The shopping rounds took up most of the morning, which left Laurie the rest of the afternoon to pour over his job applications, put final touches on letters of introduction, and start reading another book that his Oxford buddy —Raymond —had sent him last week.
At half past five, he walked up the stairs to Alec and Sandy’s flat, confidently this time, and with much more ease thanks to months of physical therapy and his boot. Unlike last time, he had a very good idea of who he’d meet at the top of the staircase and what they’d say and do behind those doors. I come bearing gifts of food and wine, he thought, ready to do his part in the preparations. He would be waiting for Ralph’s arrival, like last time, but with the knowledge that it would be sometime after seven. And like last time, he wouldn’t expect to partake in the dancing or much of the gossip, but there was always the casual conversation with Alec as he helped in the kitchen, the friendly exchanges with Sandy as he accepted his offers of food and drink. And Laurie found himself looking forward to greeting the few acquaintances he hadn’t seen in a while: Eddie who’d just returned from being stationed up north, Philip who always brought in good tips about black market meat and chocolate, Theo who doesn’t say much but nods at the right places, and even Toto now that he’s stopped seeing Bunny and no longer brought him to Alec’s parties.
At the top of the staircase, Laurie knocked firmly on the wooden door. He was here to see his friends.

I did a really really bad job sleeping last night. After being so exhausted all day I was hoping I could go to sleep at a normal time but not. 3am. It was not a fun night. I had a horribly runny nose and a burning throat and I was just so uncomfortable. I could only breathe if I was sitting up. I was just having a pretty bad time. I tried reading for a while. And that helped a little but I was just not having fun. I did get to sleep eventually but it was a horrible struggle.
I woke up at 9 and felt. Fine. Not amazing. It felt like I was swallowing glass but mentally I was alright. I was looking forward to hanging out with Jess.
She was having a tough morning and thought she might be running late. But that was fine with me. I got washed and dressed and then wasn't sure what to do because I didn't know if she was ready to go yet.
So I made the decision to go wait on the car for a minute. And then I left. She would only be s few minutes behind me and it all worked out.
It was a pretty nice drive to Havre De Grace. I thought I hadn't been there before but it turned out it was near the decoy duck museum James took me to years ago. But this town was so cute.
I parked and read an article and then Jess was pulling in a few cars away from me. I was so happy to see her.
We would go to the vintage cafe. And at first it was nice and quiet but it would pretty quickly get incredibly loud for such a small space. I still really enjoyed our conversations and it was fun.
She got an omelet and I got a grilled cheese. We shared our potatoes (home fries and french fries). And it was a nice cheap little meal.
When we finished we would head down the street to one of the antique malls. There were a handful in this town which is very cool and gives us a good reason to come back.
This place was huge. And I had so much fun looking around. It is always interesting seeing how many of the same thing you fine, and how many weird things you find.
We also just had good funds today. Jess collects a specific type of basket. Or rather a specific brand. And she was looking for a larger one. She would find it, plus two medium sized ones. She also got a very cool candle holder. I would find some presious lilly of the valley wall hooks that will be perfect for the bathroom in the new house.
I would also find a little Boyd's bear panda. And a beautiful pressed flower bracelet. I wasn't sure I was going to actually get the bracelet but me and Jess were being really good about checking comp prices for everything on eBay and this bracelet was going to $110 so I was getting an amazing deal. And I love it. It's the state flower too so I love that.
We were having a lot of fun. Laughing at weird stuff. Like the double toilet bathroom. And just being silly and having a good time.
Once we were done there we paid and went to drop the bags off at the car. Then across the street to a retro reproduction and dead stock/pyrex store. She got a very cool pyrex shirt and I liked that people are using circuit machines to put Pyrex patterns on cups. I didn't find one I love but it's going on the wishlist for sure.
We decided we were antiqued out but we wanted to go to good will still. We would have to drive 15 minutes to go there. Which was fine except a big truck was parked behind me unloaded and I was kind of trapped. I was able to maneuver out, with no thanks to some guy making illegal moves to get the parking spot next to me. But I got out and was able to follow Jess to Aberdeen .
This wasn't an amazing goodwill. But Jess found a sweet jacket. I was a little horrified by some of the prices. Like $50 for a shitty scratched up skateboard. But it was still fun to look around.
We saw there was a restore across the street so we went to look there next. A very good selection but mostly just for ideas for us. Jess says she has most of the furniture she needs now. So it will be me searching for things once we move.
We didn't find the accordion wall hooks she was looking for but that's alright. She would find some online later.
We hugged and said goodbye. And we both headed home. I was getting tired.
The drive home kind of sucked. Some traffic but I just started feeling very very bad. Like head cold bad. Like I'm feeling very sick bad. It was kind I got hit with a brick wall. I desperately wanted to be home.
When I got back here I was excited to see I had a package. I had ordered new Minnetonka boots. And they are great and will keep my feet nice and warm.
After putting things away I got changed into my sweatsuit and laid down. I did not let myself sleep. I want to sleep tonight at a normal time. So I kept myself awake. And was just kind of miserable and not feeling well.
I waited for James to come home.
When they got back they babied me a bit. And would make sure I was alright before doing their short podcast episode for the night. And then they went to go and get us pizza. I got mine with broccoli. We don't really want to be eating out so much but we have no oven and no stove and it's very annoying. We have reached out to Tina and hopefully she solves this quick.
I had a few documents I had to send to the mortgage people. So that took some of my focus. And eventually I took a bath and scrolled on my phone which is not the safest but I was careful.
And now I am just. So tired. And very uncomfortable. I'm going to take a NyQuil and hopefully I can sleep and be well tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath because I think I have a cold. But I will try my best to take care of myself.
I hope you all sleep well tonight. I love you all. Goodnight!

Quali-tea Competition
Fandom: World’s Beyond Number
Characters: Ame, Suvi and Ursulon
Tags: coffee shop au(but there’s tea in it), silly times
Ame has some new menu choices in mind. Suvi is not having it. How on earth to resolve this?
Read it on Ao3 here!
Fic under the cut:
“Just. Try it.”
“No.” Suvi dropped the word from her mouth, as a simple, firm fact. Her expression was neutral, but there was an intensity behind her eyes. There was no backing down, no give. Her arms were crossed, and she shifted her weight slightly as if to brace herself.
Ame propped her arms on the table, squinting and leaning forward. Suvi knew she could circumvent Ame’s pushing for a time, but it had just expired. “Just. One.”
“No.”
“Suvi-!”
“Ame!”
“Guys!” Eursulon tipped his chair back upright, rubbing his temples. “You’ve been doing this for an hour.”
“I agree, it’s unreasonable not to consider one drink,” said Ame, looking first to him and then back at Suvi, pointedly holding up a finger. “C’mon, please?”
Suvi didn’t even glance at the wide variety of teas on two hastily shoved together dining tables before her, boxes thoughtfully sorted by color, flavor and effect. Her tone slipped, and she dropped the cool exterior to put a slight whine at the end of her words. “No! You know I hate it. It is bad garbage water. You know this.”
“Maaybe you just haven’t found one you’ve liked yet,” Ame retorted. “You’ve really only had green-”
“And! This is a coffee place,” Suvi interjected, motioning to the shop behind her. “Why on earth would we sell this? People come here for the good shit.”
“Grandma Wren thinks so,” grumbled Ame, folding her own arms and heaving a sigh. The two were locked in a standoff in the empty Witch’s Brew Café, a delightful, warm space filled with antique furniture and framed pressed flowers on the cedar wood walls. Delicate lights were strung along the beams, and it was filled with the smell of coffee, herbs, and the delicious pastries in the display case. Suvi and Ame wore blue and red aprons respectively, where Eursulon got to wear green. He was still wearing his glamor, but Suvi could tell he was scratching one of his furry tufts near his ears, blowing a raspberry in slight annoyance and boredom. It had been…a slow day so far, and Ame had decided to offer up the new product samples for them to try.
“Not. Gonna. Happen.”
“But-”
“Nope.”
“Suvi-”
“Mm-mm.” Suvi darted behind the counter, grabbing the mop from the corner. “We have much more pressing responsibilities.”
“Suvi, my esteemed colleague and friend,” said Eurselon, standing up from his chair. “There is no one here.”
“And?”
Eursulon chuckled through his words, which stopped as Suvi shoved it into his hand. “It’s on the list, gotta get it done.”
“That’s only a suggestion-”
“No no,” said Ame, a sudden shift entering her tone. “Suvi is right, we do need to keep up with the store.”
Suvi raised her eyebrows. “I am- of course I am.” She stood up a little straighter. “We can get it done in like, ten minutes.”
“Well, you could probably do it faster. I mean, we’ve all seen you work - quick, clean, beautifully efficient.” Ame was nodding along, her eyes glancing between her friends as her eyes began to light up mischievously. “I think you could outsweep the whole block, honestly-”
“Where is this going?” Suvi said suspiciously.
“With your obvious skills,” said Ame, gesturing at Suvi, “You could obviously beast us in a competition.”
Eursulon opened his mouth, eyes furrowed. “Us? I don’t-”
“You are using my competitiveness against me.” Suvi’s eyes narrowed. “I- It’s working. Why?”
“We each take half of the store, with us taking the bathrooms. If you win, I will handle every single basic cappuccino customer that comes in, asking for very specific specifications, which I know you hate, for a month.” Ame leaned over the counter, which was proving difficult due to her height. She managed to keep a smile off her face. “And if I win, you have to try my choice of tea, right now, and drink the entire thing.”
“Done.” Should I have agreed to that? Suvi raced forwards immediately, grabbing a broom and heading to the front to begin sweeping furiously. She saw that Ame and Eursulon were stumbling over each other, sorting different materials, and smirked. Nahh, I got this.
Immediately she was so in the zone everything else fell away. She swept with precise, sharp movements, wiped counters rapidly in large circles. She even beat Team Ame to the punch for the mop bucket, moving in clear strokes across the floor. She stood filled with pride at her work, mop in hand, and turned to announce her victory. That was until she saw that the two of them had one, already cleared their side and the bathrooms(minus mopping), and two, she forgot about a vitally important step. Her gaze turned to the tall, floor to ceiling windows, and she done knew she had fucked up.
Ame ran past her, cheerily snatching the mop from her hands. “I’ll take that!” It snapped Suvi back to reality, and she raced to grab the cloth and spray bottle, and oh fuck where’s the ladder-?
“Done!” Eursulon lifted Ame onto his shoulders, who pumped her fists in the air with a look of triumph. Suvi couldn’t find the words, her shoulders slumping. “Team Tea-Time wins!”
“Do not despair, sister,” said Eursulon teasingly, letting Ame drop down and placing a hand on her shoulder. “It will be over quickly and painlessly.”
“You. You did this to me,” said Suvi darkly, although there was no real fight behind it. “I-you hate cleaning!”
“Ahh, but I hated sitting and listening to you two bicker endlessly more.” His smile turned into a yawn as he stretched. “Now I can go back to enjoying a peaceful afternoon.”
“Un-believeable.” Suvi defeatedly plopped in her chair, hearing Ame start the kettle. “I think you’ve killed me. I think I’ve just died. Am I here? Can you see me?”
It seemed like forever, but soon Ame returned with a steaming cup of amber liquid, set gently on a little plate. Suvi had to admit, it smelled…actually okay? There seemed to be a sharp mixture of spices, and a few berries that had been thrown in. If it had been coffee, she would have been salivating. “I present to you, Ame’s Blend.”
“Ame’s Blend?” she said, looking up at her friend standing with her hands behind her back. “Are you going to be sad if I hate it?”
“No no, if you don’t like it you don’t like it.” Ame gave a small, earnest smile. “I just want you to try it. And finish, according to the rules.
“Yeah…the rules.” Suvi let out a sigh, and amusement crept into her features. She also was touched that Ame wanted to make her something special, and if she was being honest, looking at her genuine and open expression she couldn’t have ever said she hated it. She turned her gaze back to the tea and stared it down, trying not to pull a face. She tentatively raised it to her lips, taking a sip.
Suvi never forgave her for making it taste good. She would never convert to tea, espresso was her one true love. But just for a moment, a split second, Suvi told Ame, to her friend’s delight, that she was right.

I dreamt. we were camping in the woods in cabins but one of the buildings was like a furniture store inside but still had that log cabin look and we were supposed to pick out one (1) thing for it yo furnish our cabin (like animal crossing pocket camp except not) and while I was browsing (there were some seal plushies and lamps I was interested in, one of the lamps was like… fish… like a standing floor lamp that had two rods that ended shaped like fish but where the head would’ve been were the lights) I saw. a bear. and I was like OH SHIT & it started coming near me and I was like OH SHIT!!!! so at first I ran but then I was like wait no I’m not supposed to run and I’m especially not supposed to turn my back on it so I tried waving my arms and yelling but then ANOTHER bear showed up and at first I thought it was the mother but I realized it was too small but I still started running and screaming for help (this is still in the furniture store) and then someone did show up and since we were both yelling and screaming the bears got intimidated. Since I was freaked out I jumped onto the person’s back 1) so we could look bigger, but mostly 2) I was So So Scared and wanted to be carried. Then we chased the bears out (we were joined by sister and another person) and found out there was a closed door in the fence so we opened it and drove them through it and closed the fence (now that I’m awake I don’t think it was a bear safe fence, it was just one of those normal wire fences) and we were like ‘phew’ and debriefing each other and how the bears couldve gotten in since the fence wasn’t open and then. a car drive through the fence. it came from our side and drove right through and left a big hole in the fence and there were fence pieces everywhere. and sister or one of the two people who joined was like ‘well. [event at nearby building outside the campground] starts at 1. looks like they made it.’ and another person was like ‘guess that’s how the bears got in’ I was like. THE BEARS. we have to fix this fence if we tie the pieces back to the fence we can at least cover the holes. and then sister (who was holding a parasol? like an antique looking one with hooked handle, a lacquered bamboo look) was basically like no no we should rest we’re worn out, we won’t be able to do it as well, it’s like I like hearing you sing but I haven’t asked you to sing because I knew you were tired :) and I was like aww thanks :) THE FUCKING BEARS??? but we couldn’t fix the fence so we left, but two other people joined our group (?). one of them was a guy with a hyperrealistic bear cub… thing. pushie? figurine? Hand puppet? He used it to give me ice cream mochi. he said it was for the bear traps he and the other guy was setting up and at first I felt relieved but when I saw the trap it was like. bear cub facsimile in one of those clear plastic gift bags and stuck to a tree. and internally I was like well I *guess* it could be a distraction to bait the bear to a certain area to get them into position for the actual trap. but I was starting to get skeptical about his bear trapping qualification. anyway I should get back to reading golden kamuy

That's how it sounds (Part 2)
Part 1
For @chaotic-multidimension
Here's the second part! And at least it will have a third one :D:D:D Hope you like it!
Taka grabbed the light brown parka and the scarf from the hanger next to his desk and sheathed himself in them. It was only the first days of November, but Katsuya sometimes had the impression that his soulmate had been born with a broken thermostat. It didn't matter if it was the middle of summer, Taka's hands were always freezing.
"Are you going to need help with Hoshida-san from the antique shop?" Taka asked before crossing the threshold. "Teru had the day off today if you need him."
"I haven't seen him in days and Hoshida-san always appreciates the company."
"I thought he would have retired by now. At this rate, that man will manage to bury us all. Do you know what he bought this time?"
Katsuya couldn't help but smile as he watched Taka rummage through his pockets while checking to make sure he didn't leave anything behind. If Taka was never going to let anything happen to him, it was that any mishap could catch him off guard.
"Some furniture from the Taisho Era, a low table, a set of inkwells, a chest of drawers, and some ceramic figurines. He wants us to take a look at them, make sure there's nothing unusual with them before he starts restoring them."
"I guess once was enough. The last thing he needs is another curse because of an evil spirit's grudge. If you need me, call."
"The salt thing we've long since assumed didn't work, I think." Katsuya smiled, hugging his boyfriend. "I think Teru and I are enough for that. Now scram or you'll be late for your ten o'clock appointment."
"Ha-ha. Very funny." Taka replied sarcastically. "One of these days you'll miss having me around. I think I've always managed quite well."
Katsuya frowned remembering the dozen times things could have ended horribly wrong for Taka had it not been for Katsuya's intervention or one of the kids. Katsuya knew he had no right to ask him to quit, but it wasn't the first time he wished Taka had chosen any other business.
And then he never would have found him.
It wasn't like Katsuya needed Taka to change but sometimes he would have preferred Taka to held himself in a little more esteem. No matter how much time passed, too many times Taka was still last on his list of priorities.
"You tell me if they're going to want to come over for dinner later. We could go to the ramen shop. It's been ages since we've been there."
"Shigeo should finish up at school soon. Let's see what Teru says." Katsuya dismissed him with a kiss on the lips. "Get out of here now, go on."
"That's how you show you love me!" Taka raised his arms, feigning indignation. "I'm leaving now!"
Katsuya stared at the door for a moment and shook his head, returning to his desk. There was still a while until the time he had arranged to meet Hoshida-san.
Taka was still worrying too much. It had been years since Katsuya had encountered a spirit strong enough to be a problem when they could always count on Shigeo if anything happened.
-------
Hoshida-san's antique shop was located in a small alley near the station. The store looked old, with an oak door and gold lettering on the glass. The storefront was so full of trinkets that it was impossible to pay attention to anything.
Katsuya didn't bother to knock before opening the door. The small bell jingled over the old song playing from the radio above the small counter. The inside of the shop wasn't much better, with antique furniture crowded against the walls and shelves and more shelves filled with what to most people couldn't be more than junk.
Katsuya loved Hoshida-san's store, cramped and dark. The smell of varnish, old paper and dust was the only thing that could be noticed upon entering. Among the hundred or so treasures, Hoshida-san had some little gems like tin robots from the fifties, Mazinger Z stickers and Gunplas from the '79 anime. Over time, Katsuya had learned to enjoy the outdoors and open spaces, but after so many years of being a hikikomori, places like that still gave him a sense of calm that he found in few other places.
"Reigen didn't come with you?" Hoshida-san asked as soon as he appeared behind the beaded curtain leading to the back room. "It's always nice to see you two together."
The man, almost eighty years old, walked with a stooped gait. His skin wrinkled like parchment barely showed his small black eyes, hidden under thick white eyebrows.
"Hoshida-san!" Katsuya looked longingly at one of the Gunplas before setting it back down on the shelf before turning around with a small bow. "There's new stuff, I'm not imagining it am I? It's been years since I've seen one of these."
Katsuya patted the cardboard box of one of the first runs of Gunplas that had been released. The figure wasn't particularly large or impressive compared to some of the ones back home but it was still a collector's item. Katsuya looked at it again one last time before erasing it from his mind. If he came home with a new model, no matter how special it was, the one that was going to end up going out the window was him.
The street door opened again, the bell interrupting the conversation. Teru appeared, pausing on the threshold still catching his breath.
"Am I late?" he asked pulling himself upright after giving himself a minute to take a deep breath. Katsuya smiled as he realized he was wearing the Hagemon t-shirt they had given him for his last birthday. "The subway stopped for like twenty minutes and I was starting to think I was never going to make it."
Teru stilled suddenly, his gaze riveted on the far corner of the small store.
"You noticed it too," Katsuya said as soon as he saw Teru's reaction.
The presence was faint, but enough to raise the hair on the back of his neck. The energy felt so sad against his skin. For a moment, Katsuya couldn't help but think of Taka. When Katsuya was still a kid, the song in his head hadn't felt so different.

Love old conversions, like this former 1913 bank building in Cragford, Alabama. It has 3bds, 4ba., and is listed for $349K.
Tumblr media
They have the porch looking a little messy, but they’ve got some great carved rocking chairs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I must say that the living room is cozy- look at the brick wall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very nicely done- they used metal panels to form rooms. Gives it a nice industrial vibe. However, I don’t know what possessed them to put a bed in the kitchen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love that the kitchen looks like a workshop. Interesting- they used industrial furniture.
Tumblr media
This is cute- two glass doors make a separating wall.
Tumblr media
Definitely loft vibes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like it. Well done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main bd. looks a little like a furniture store display. I don’t know why they’ve got half a gray carpet and half red.
Tumblr media
A full bath and laundry area.
Tumblr media
Very nice.
Tumblr media
They didn’t do such a great job on the bedrooms, though. This is a kid’s cluttered room and the “walls” are only curtains. Not lovin’ this.
Tumblr media
Not terribly attractive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This room has its own entrance with a small foyer and office area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Listed as a single family residence makes me wonder why there’s a whole ‘nother kitchen here. I’m confused now.
Tumblr media
Looks like a family room or kids hangout space.
Tumblr media
The 2nd bathroom.
Tumblr media
And a large kids room. I don’t like the bedroom setups.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This bd. also has its own entrance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t know, this looks like a 2nd residence. I’m thinking that Zillow’s confused, too.
Tumblr media
Nice bath on this side.
Tumblr media
Oh, look, a loft. This looks like 2 apts., Zillow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, you couldn’t call this a yard.
Tumblr media
Looks kinda cute, whatever it is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, it’s like a business - antiques and bait (ewww).
Tumblr media
There’s more than one building, so it has potential for a home and a business.
Tumblr media
The area is very spread out, if you don’t like to be near neighbors.

i know this is such a strange question to ask and im actually sorry im asking this because of how stupid and useless this question is but i dont know who to ask. i havent changed my room like paint it or get new furniture for it since i was 6 , i live with a disabled mother who can only stand/walk for like 20 minutes and i couldnt do it by myself so ive never been able to change my room. i have the option to change it now and i have a large budget to do this. im going to paint my bathroom and my bedroom and buy a new bed, decor, desk all that stuff but i dont know if i should do my room to look very similar to violet’s or just do a very basic “modern” room ( obviously i couldnt do it exactly like violets considering her room decor is from more than a decade ago ). i really couldnt change it after i make this choice id have to repaint, buy all new furniture etc and i cannot make up my mind it is literally tearing me up as i cant even answer where i want to eat for dinner 😭. with a room like violets i would have my absolute dream room but my friends would make fun of me, it would be slightly more expensive and im so worried ill change my mind like what if i dont base my whole personality on violet anymore?? and with the plain room i wouldnt love it and it would be very boring but i wouldnt get made fun of and i would be able to add more in it ( tv, vanity etc) i just dont know what to do because thats a lot of money to spend to want to change it in a year or two no matter what style room i choose . im so sorry for asking this ridiculously stupid question!
This isn't a stupid question whatsoever and there is no need to apologize! You definitely came to the right place because I love design and being economical.
First of all, if your friends belittle you for your tastes they are lousy friends. When they do that shut them down. Tell them to stop because it makes you feel bad or simply give them the silent treatment. The latter I usually use and it works.
Secondly, you need to remember you don't have to get everything at once. It is like building any collection; it takes time and patience.
I think Violet's bedroom paint color is neutral and can go with just about anything. I wouldn't go with a darker paint color because your environment affects your mood. It will be like a cave. While white or grey works well I think it is overdone and resembles a hotel lobby.
In order not to break the bank with capturing Violet's aesthetic, you need to look in the right places. A large amount of her furniture was found in antique thrift stores. Find thrift stores or markets near you. They will be significantly cheaper than Etsy or Poshmark. You can also try out Ebay, Poshmark, or Facebook Marketplace. Make sure the seller is well rated, though.
But I have to address something important; you mention basing your whole personality on Violet, I discourage that because you will lose your own identity in the process. Additionally Violet herself would promote staying true to yourself and not changing for anyone.
Now I have a few questions because I really want to help you:
how big is your room and do you know the dimensions?
would you like me to post pictures of Violet esque bedrooms?
would you also like me to post links to stuff (dupes and exact furniture)?

So, as some of you may know, I moved countries. I now live in a big city, and it's all very exciting for me to explore, since I lived my whole life in a tiny town with practically nothing to do.
While I was exploring I found an art store, and when I went in, I almost wanted to cry out of joy. It has EVERYTHING, from resin to pigments, glass paint and a place to custom order a canvas!!! There are things there it took me years to find, because they're so rare. And to top it all, it's extremely cheap!
So after I saw all of that I went back the next day knowing what project I want to start.
Since I live in student accomodations, I'm not allowed to mess with the furniture that came with the room (obviously), but I do have a bookshelf and a cabinet (both are like dark wood and from Ikea), and to those I can do whatever I want...so... I thought I could paint some stuff on them. So I bought paimt for wood and varnish (along with some other misc supplies like a scrapper and sponges, dirt cheap stuff but things I couldn't find in the store back in my hometown).
I than realized I haven't practiced painting in months, and also maybe I shouldn't jump straight to the hardest part (without a plan either). But then I saw an ugly wooden box that I used to transport my more fragile supplies, so I decided to test the waters with it.
As for my inspiration, I started looking at antique furniture (idk if it's considered antique when it's a few centuries old, but whatever). Than I remembered I recently saw some Ceangăi furniture that are beautifully painted.
For the cabinet and bookshelf, I decided that I would go with a celestial and nature themes respectivly, so I combined them for the box. It has mostly stars, with flowers on the sides.
Now, I talked about this in my other blog, but I think I never mentioned it here, but I'm half Ceangăi (chan-gei). I'll shortly explain what even that means, because I'm positive excatly 0 of my followers ever heard of them.
So the Ceangăi are a group of Hungarians that live in closed villages in Romania, and they have lived separatly for at least the last 500 years. The reason they stayed separated is because they were catholic, and the rest of Romania was orthodox (still is mostly) so they couldn't marry outside of the village. In that way they're similar to the Jewish villages that used to be in Romania (which is where my other half is from btw). The Ceangăi culture is unique in a few aspects- first of all they have their own dialect of Hungarian, and (this is the coolest part) it hasn't changed much in the last 500 years. So while Hungarian has evolved in Hungary and changed, the Ceangăi still speak like they used to 500 years ago. They essesially preserved the language for hundreds of years! Another unique features are their textile work, their painted furniture, and their songs. Unfortunatly, the culture is dying, and about 5000 people know the dialect, mostly older folk, that will die out in the near future.
Sometimes I can't help but feel guilty about that.
ANYWAYS so the elements I took from the Ceangăi paintings are the borders (little half circles) on the edges of the lid, the star on the front, and the flowers on the sides (which I saw repeating in many furniture, unlike the other elements). I couldn't help but feel a bit connected to them, painting the same things in the same manner...
I learned a lot on how the paints work, and also how long this stuff takes (the box took me 4 hours, including a gesso layer, which is basically a base coat for paints). Tomorrow I'll add varnish and start on the bookshelf.
I think I rambled enough lmao. I didn't think I had that much to say...
