Man I'm actually glad people are waking up to the fact this show is going to be a dumpster fire for whoever they cast as Hermione
You know none of them bitches are going to defend her from HP fans being shifty about her being black, or being anti-slavery

image id: picture of JKR from the the Onion with text reading
“would you tell us about a time you were personally victimised by a trans person?“ JKR: “yes I remember like it was yesterday, you see, I was advocating for their total annihilation and then a few of them said some mean words to me on the internet“ end id
the onion is choosing violence and I am here for it *few hours later*
I read the article here and my god fucking hell the sound I made reading this bit was not human
“Do you feel at all guilty to have disappointed some fans with your views?”
J.K. Rowling: “Hell no. Look, I wrote those books for kids 20 years ago. If you’re still into that shit, you’re a fuckin’ loser.”
in conclusion this tweet puts it best
Tumblr media
image id: twitter screen shot from anna phylaxis reading “god I hope JK is vain enough to sue the Onion, I want to see that legal battle as badly as the Onion clearly also wants to see it“/ tweet two “her litigiousness, her obvious willingness to launch a lawsuit she would so clearly lose, makes her such an irresistible target for satire“

what is HP and why would you not like fans of them to interact with you. is it like HP lovecraft or
HP: Harry Potter
jkr holds extremely harmful beliefs as a terf and i refuse to have her fans associating with me by following this blog. she's also a hack writer with terrible worlbuilding and a terrible magic system and problematic content. i refuse to associate with anything to do with her, including any of her works.
so yeah i don't want hp fans following this blog because they saw "wizard" and decided to associate it against my will with their piece of shit terf

When I'm watching the owl house, I can't help but compare it to Harry Potter.
Of course there are a few intentional parallels and references to Harry Potter in the owl house but mainly because the owl house does what I wish Harry Potter would have done.
We know that show pointed out just how ridiculous quddich as a game is. But more than that it introduced another sport and had three main characters actually play and enjoy it. Over the years looking back at Harry Potter, I've started seeing the massive cracks in the world building. The problem with quidditch isn't just that it's a ridiculous game but that it's the only game. You wanna play sports but you don't like the one single sport that exists in your world? Well then you can't play sports, too bad. And in Hogwarts only twenty eight people in the entire school could take part in this sports. Seven per house. If your house already have seven players then you might never get to play a sport in all of your years at attending school. It's also very dependent on equipment. If you have more money, or if you are Harry Potter who has the money and people gift him expensive brooms on top of that, then of course you will be better at it than others.
Harry liked this sports so that's all that matters. All the Weasley siblings liked this one sport and even made it on the team. So we don't realise, or at least I didn't realise while reading the books as a kid that students at Hogwarts don't really have that many options.
Now in the owl house we see some of our main characters, founding a club for an underrated sports and it served as an incredible bonding and learning experience for some of them. But more importantly I love seeing Willow recognising things she is good at and something she has an interest in and pursuing that. And she had the option to do that because the characters in owl house have options.
Harry Potter is still dividing 10-11 year old children into for categories. The protagonists, the smart ones, the evils ones and miscellaneous. It felt like Hogwarts would stop with this system at the end of the series but they don't. Not only does Hogwarts puts a label on ten years old but they strictly keeps them seperate. They are not allowed to enter each other password protected dorms, they play against each other and they complete against each other. They only every interact with people who are similar to them, this system keeps on reinforcing the same ideas and the same beliefs on the children. Unless of course you are Harry Potter and you tell the hat to put you in the protagonists house. Sucks for everyone else who didn't knew who they were at the age of ten.
In the owl house, the logical conclusion felt like the abolition of the coven system and that's exactly what happened at Hexide. But even before that, Willow was allowed to change her track. We see these kids presented with this options, and we know that the system before was wrong.
There are so many magical creatures in the owl house and they they all coexist. That in itself makes the setting feel more inclusive.
When I was reading Harry Potter for the first time, the name Parvati Patil stood out to me. I read the Marathi translation of Harry Potter. There are a lot of great books in Marathi but unfortunately there really aren't any fantasy books for kids in Marathi so reading Harry Potter felt really great. And having a character named Parvati Patil felt even more amazing because that character isn't just Indian, she's Marathi. So every once in a while when that character was mentioned I could imagine that Hogwarts had a place for me.
But at the end of the day, Parvati didn't really do anything. In every scene you could replace her with with any random character and it wouldn't have changed everything. So at the end of the day, Parvati Patil become just a name on paper. She didn't really mean anything. She and her sister are so forgattable that so many people genuinely believe Cho was the only Asia character in Harry Potter.
Diversity is more than just existant of non cishet white characters. The owl house feels inclusive. The characters in it look different, act different, feel different and yet they all belong in Hexide. The school wasn't perfect but making changes to improve, to make the environment better for their students. Hexide made room for a person born without magic and the world of the owl house allowed a person born without magic to figure out a way to do magic. Something that can never happen in Harry Potter.
In Harry Potter, the magic races still remain divided and you will never be welcome at Hogwarts unless you born with magic. In Harry Potter, diversity or rather inclusion is limited to a few unremarkable words on paper that most people will easily forget.
The second I heard that the Titan trappers have hunted a species to extinction, something didn't feel right. So it feels nice when it was revealed that these people are in the wrong. It feels nice to know that the witches in this world are coming to realise the whole system in their world is flawed and not just the person in charge. That so many people were already in the opposition.
The youtuber Shaun made an excellent video on this topic and I really recommend watching it. But in short, the world of Harry Potter didn't really change. Their system is still flawed, the only difference is a literal magic Nazi is not running it anymore. The nice people are running it. And as long as the nice people are running it nothing bad can happen.
And so because of this and in addition the bullshit JK spews, over the years Harry Potter has stopped being magical to me. Hogwarts don't feel like a place that would have room for me. The world of Harry Potter doesn't feel welcoming.
It's also the reason why it feels great that a show like the owl house actually get it right.

So, remember that novel I'm writing out of pure, unbridled spite? You can now read it for free on Royal Road! First three chapters are up, featuring:
A soft bisexual mage who likes to draw animals
An absolutely chaotic trans musician who discovered that his singing can heal wounds
A bounty hunter with a magic rifle that knows only one (1) spell
And an infinite library that makes you forget who you are the deeper you go (to be introduced later!)
New updates every Thursday!
And, as always:
Fuck J. K. Rowling

Friendly reminder that death of the author doesn’t work when the author is still very much alive and very vocal and influential amongst hate groups. The noise we make amongst ourselves will eventually be heard in parliament and anti-trans rhetoric can and will lead to anti-trans legislation. The more support we give to powerful bigots, directly or indirectly, the easier it will become for the powers that govern our existence to ignore and commit hate crimes against vulnerable people. Peace and love and rubber glove ✌🏽 ❤️ 🧤

it’s not even about transphobia. it’s antisemitic too. just like the series itself. i wouldn’t expect a pole to care about Jewish lives so it’s not surprising your blatant disregard. but it does mean despite your little moral tirade you’re still an asshole.
A small post for anti-semitic rumors that were also talked about and about which people also write (because there's always something someone won't like. I won't say exactly about HL because I don't spoil the plot but JKR was accused of it. Like, goblins as small and mean creatures with pointed ears and noses have been depicted since the 12th century, it is worth noting that, unlike the Jews. Goblins in HP were never imprisoned, on the contrary, in the wizarding world they had the same rights (except maybe using a wand, but they could do magic without it) and openly they ran the biggest bank, they made up the entire financial economy in this world, and wizards didn't like them because they were just greedy, there was no propaganda. As far as I know, in HL they are supposed to be the bad guys, but let's be honest, there will always be some bad guys. If it was a wizard they would be repetitive, if it was a house elf they would be racist and if it was magical creatures they would be cruel to them. Anti-Semitism was and is a serious problem, but it seems to me that there is no need to give in to the stereotype in this matter, because for me comparing goblins to Jews is just one of these stereotypical behaviors. Besides we need to learn to distinguish the author from his work, we need to learn what is the truth and what is the media clinginess that allows you to write a lot of best-selling articles. You can only see how many such articles there are, without any specifics, but with very "catchy" headlines.

I think of that time when Vladimir Putin compared himself to J K Rowling because they were both victims of cancel culture.
Can you imagine Stalin comparing himself to Enid Blyton?

bestie why are you still posting harry potter in the year of our lord 2022?
just because the author is a gross TERF doesn't mean i don't still find happiness in harry potter? harry potter is a wonderful universe filled with beautiful interesting characters who i grew up with.
just a shame it's the creation of a abysmal creature who doesn't respect women. i just forget she created it tbh. makes life easier.

Hey you, Feminazi! You love Dana Terrace, yet hate Joanne Rowling, right? Well, let me explain you the differences between them. Terrace is a hateful Nazi pedophile who included an uncensored lesbian sex scene between two 14 year olds in her show, and whined like a bitch when Disney rightfully cancelled it for that. She also promotes genocide against anyone who is male, white, cisgender, and heterosexual. Meanwhile, Rowling is a wonderful and powerful woman who supports and stands up for everyone, made an amazing book series that many people still love, and doesn’t care that people will endlessly shit on cis straight white people as long as she shows her loving care and support towards them. Stop wasting your time with your ignorance.

oh my godddd you’re not even a cryptoterf you’re fully out huh
if you would spend any amount of time on my blog and see what kind of actual political posts i make and reblog you’d know i’m nothing close to a terf. i support trans women fully, done so my entire life, and i don’t appreciate any accusations against this.
yes i talk about harry potter sometimes but i do not support j k rowling which i’ve clarified before. i was even interviewed for an article where i talked about death of the author related to rowling and hp and criticized transphobic aspects of her writing. you don’t get more on the record than that!

My besties and sis wanted to pirate The Secrets of Dumbledore a few days ago so we did even though I felt lowkey uncomfortable the whole time and if anything stuck with me about the atrocious writing these are 2:
Queenie's villainess arch. We left her in CoG a supporter of Grindy, she comes back in SoD and she doesn't trust him as much as before. When did this happen? What caused it? Why don't we have a little more insight? Nope, she just needs to have a reason to go back to the good side and marry her boo. Briefest and blandest villain arch ever, never even did anything bad, only babysat Credence. Having been a Alison fan long before FB was a light in JKR's terfy little eyes, I say they fucking did her dirty.
The Qilin bowing to Albus. They really put that scene in. As if Albus is anything close to pure-hearted. Totally flabbergasted. Threw a fit, and almost a pillow at my bff's tv. So then my other bff tells me how this was probably done to enforce the "good-bad/black-white" narrative and ofc Dumbledore needs to be seen as one of the good guys, which... Yes she's right. But sooo disappointing.
Seems like JKR is not satisfied with how much she has let fans worldwide down, and has to find new ways everyday. Please let this woman end her career, I've had quite enough.

Me realizing that the new Harry Potter game is somehow WORSE than that pay-to-win freemium trash Hogwarts Mystery
Tumblr media
I mean, fuck it. At least that freemium game isn’t disgustingly anti-Semitic. Neither is good, but...a blood libel plotline designed by an alt-righter will make ANY competing game look good by comparison.
