I feel like when I’m reading or watching something, for me to like a hero, they have to
1) have ambition about anything
2) not be annoying
3) not excuse their shitty behaviour with their shitty childhood
4) not be so self-righteous they don’t see their own flaws
For these reasons I hate with a burning passion Jace Herondale, Clary Fairchild, Eli Ever, Tiberius “Cal” Calore VIII, Dean Winchester, and Legend/Dante Santos
Jace is constantly doing something shitty in every book and people don’t care and they just put up with it for some reason. In CoG he belittles Clary because he wants to push her away but keeps coming back to her. He also keeps coming onto Clary when he thought she was his sister and said that cursed sentence in CoG that I need to bleach from my brain. I know if he said that shit to me I would’ve punched him in his stupid face cuz who does he think he is? He mocks the werewolves after they lost a child in their pack, he’s just awful to Alec at times, he doesn’t seem to understand there are consequences to his actions and just does shit because he wants to. He had the emotional maturity of a dried up pinecone.
Clary also does so much shit and people don’t call her out because she’s the protagonist and she just lets Jace do whatever to her because he’s hot. Girl please get a grip. She slut shames Izzy because apparently women aren’t allowed to have a sex life or wear revealing clothing 😒 girl you kissed someone you thought was YOUR BROTHER!! She dated Simon to get over Jace and then kissed Jace in the Seelie Court, and repeatedly thought about Jace in a romantic sense WHILE she thought they were SIBLINGS! I can’t.
Eli is so self-righteous, annoying and hypocritical. He uses God and religion as an excuse to kill innocent people which is just disgusting. Like I get that he thinks being an EO changed a person because Victor became different but he is an EO himself and he just takes it on himself to murder innocent people for simply existing.
Cal has no desire to do anything, at least up to the beginning of King’s Cage he doesn’t (where I currently am). He knows how poorly the Reds are being treated and he doesn’t want to change anything because (and I’m paraphrasing) there would be outrage among the Silvers and a war would break out. Bitch you are already at war! He’s the reason why so many innocent young Reds have lost their lives fighting in a war they have no say in. He sees the Scarlet Guard killing Silvers and he doesn’t try to stop them. He sulks and whines but doesn’t take any real action, which he could if he actually wanted to. He stalks around the camp like Mare’s dog and thinks he’s better than everyone.
Dean Winchester is an abusive asshole. He locked Sam in the cellar when he was addicted to demon blood when he knew the withdrawal could kill him. He shit on Sam for being manipulated. He’s made horrible perverted jokes about women, might I remind y’all of the high school episode (he was at least 26 at the time). He guilted Sam for leaving him in Hell and Purgatory when he did THE EXACT SAME THING when Same went to the cage. He threatened Kaia, a teenager at gun point for his own selfish purposes. He abused Jack til the very end, yelling that he wasn’t family when Jack had sacrificed his soul and life for the Winchesters, and made Jack hate himself for being born. He was shitty to Cas in so many seasons and didn’t care that Cas just went through seeing his son die and wasn’t able to save him. He violated Sam’s body by tricking him into letting Gadreel in which led to the death of Kevin and had the audacity to think he was wronged.
Dante is shit. Julian, his brother, lived with him for centuries, followed him wherever he went and loved him unconditionally. All Julian asked was for Dante to love him back, which he never did. When Julian finally found someone who loved him, Dante made fun of him. And then in the next book he gives up his immortality for Tella, a girl he has known for literal months at most. He didn’t love his brother, who has been with him since the beginning, enough to give up his immortality but he loved this random girl he has known for a couple months at most to give it all up?? Tella should’ve left him in the dust just like she did Jacks and went off on adventures by herself and met someone that wasn’t a twat.

castles crumbling is honestly so cal calore coded it kills me
hehe I don't know why this idea makes me giggle? I've always seen I'll Be Good for him or The Scientist by Coldplay (especially in war storm when he's apart from Mare and is preparing for the coronation), or even better yet, I will die on the hill of Lifeline by Illenium for him. Castle Crumbling is so on the nose for him that it makes me giggle i guess. But I suppose you're right.

low-cal vegan versatile zucchini boats!
This whole HUGE dish of flavorful veggies is only 204 calories! I made this dish for “dinner,” but ended up eating it for 4 separate meals throughout the next 2 days, making EACH SERVING ONLY 51 CAL!!!
I used what I already had at home, but have noted substitutions/additions below the recipe!
INGREDIENTS
2 small fresh carrots (114 g) -- 39 cal
1 tsp soy sauce, low sodium preferred -- 3 cal
about 1/2 large bell pepper (I had red and yellow) (112 g) -- 31 cal
about 1/4 large onion (I used yellow) (28 g) -- 11 cal
1 medium zucchini, prepared as noted below (165 g) -- 28 cal
56 g low sodium canned black beans, lightly mashed if desired -- 79 cal
2 tbs chunky salsa -- 10 cal (varies wildly among brands)
1/4 tsp nutritional yeast -- 3 cal
cumin/paprika/garlic powder/chili powder to taste -- 0 cal (usually)
PART 1: making carrot “meat”
heat up skillet on stove with a splash of water in it. wash & finely dice carrots
when skillet is hot, add carrots, soy sauce, cumin, and garlic powder. cook, stirring occasionally, until carrots are soft. it should only take a few minutes of stirring.
place carrots in separate bowl. return skillet (along with any leftover juices) to the hot stove
PART 2: preparing the veg
cut bell pepper and onion to desired size (I coarsely diced mine because I like the pieces a bit small)
add veggies (and more spice if needed) into the hot skillet. stir and cook for a few minutes, until veggies are starting to go soft and the onion has gotten slightly clear. if mix is too dry, add a dash of water
PART 3: zucch prep and assembly
chop off both ends of the zucchini, and cut longways into as many thick strips as possible (I managed to get 3)
with a spoon, dig out the top middle of each slice to create little boats :)
place zucchini boats in oven-safe nonstick pan, and fill with vegetables, carrots, and black beans (SEE NOTE)
top the boats with chunky salsa and nutritional yeast before baking at 350 F until the zucchini turns soft. pull from the oven & enjoy!
NOTE: I overestimated how much of each veggie I needed, so each boat includes far less than 1/3 of each ingredient. I split the beans evenly among all 3, though I only ended up using about 1/4 of the bell pepper, onion, and carrots. Everything that couldn’t fit into the boats, I just sprinkled between them and cooked with them. These spare veggies ended up being a whole other meal for me the next day, so I recommend doing that if you find yourself with extras!
ALTERNATIVES/EXTRAS/SUBS:
nutritional yeast is a staple in vegan cooking for adding a cheesy taste to otherwise cheeseless foods! I love it, but it isn’t available or enjoyed by everyone. feel free to leave it out or add another vegan/low cal cheese option instead
most spices are low/no calorie, but the sodium content can be shocking. make sure to watch how much salty spice you add!
I used black beans because they are some of my faves, but pretty much any cooked bean would work well with this recipe
topping this meal with more sauces can add some interest to the dish, especially if you’re eating it for leftovers. one of my go-to additions is combining hot sauce and tahini, it adds a creamy nutty flavor that compliments the spice well (and makes you thirsty... drink water, y’all!) tahini is a bit high-calorie in larger amounts, but a quick drizzle over your dish adds only about 15-20 cal
like I mentioned in the intro, I used what I had. you should too! if you have jalapenos instead of bell peppers, try throwing them in! even make the boats out of a yellow squash rather than a zucch! add fun spices or hot sauces, tofu, diced tomatoes, whatever you feel like! get resourceful!
[I’m posting this in hopes that it will help those who feel as if they should not eat. I want everyone to take care of themselves, and this is a low calorie (therefore perceived as “safer”) way to get in some much needed nourishment into a lacking diet. I am not pro anything except recovery.]

hey my dear rq stan friends, i just wanted to say some words here about some issues i saw lately in this fandom. please don't judge me, because this is a public space and everyone is free to say whatever they want and i don't have intentions to hurt or offend anyone, just trying to say things from my pov as a lot of people here are doing ;)
first of them, the "ship war";
mareven couldn’t be more abusive, i mean... seriously?? i don’t wanna judge anyone, you guys could ship a rock and a cup of tea and i’ll be like “good for you buddy”. but when it turns to something abusive, there’s a little problem...
i guess you guys are against those couples which the men hits the women and all that, right? and why mareven would be diferent? LOOK AT THE WAY HE TREATED HER IN KC! he basically put a collar to have ‘control’ over her, he used mental abuse in her during GS, those letters? the dead baby? yeah....
so y’all should look at these abusive relationships before wanting it to happen, what if it happens to a friend of yours? i hope it doesn’t come to that point, bc i’m sure you guys wouldn’t let it happen, right?
now i’ll say some things about the hate on cal;
i saw some ppl here saying that he is a racist, and i mean.... if he really was that, do you think he would fall in love with a girl that is a red? he would obviously be mean to her and say that she is inferior or all of the other things that an actual racist says, and i’m sure he would leave or kill the scarlet guard as soon as he could. but guess what, he helped them, he trained them and they’re alive, or at least some of them.
cal isn’t perfect, he made mistakes as EVERYONE in the series, he is a human being like them and basically like us too. we all make mistakes, but we should look at those who really regret their mistakes and wants to change and do better.
now let’s go back to maven;
he already made and still makes mistakes and cruel things, but i saw some people saying it's not his fault and that it was all because of elara and bla bla bla.
ok when i read about the control elara had over him, i was a little sad for him, that wasn’t a healthy mom and son relationship. but i mean... all his actions in KC were HIS OWN ideas, elara wasn’t there to control him and make him do all those things anymore, and i have to say he is little bit (or maybe a lot) of a psycho too, he’s a wonderful villain, i must admit it, but let him as the bad guy only, at this point of the story he has no reasons to be good (and he was never good from the start, it was all a lie to make mare join his side, remember?)
and if cal is racist, wtf is maven then?
i am a cal stan who respect everyone who likes maven, but i can’t accept an abusive relationship or someone who tries to make everything upside down to turn a bad person into a good one with no actual good actions coming from them. so don't try to make maven seem less evil than he is when he already said himself that he knows what he's done and doesn't regret it.
no need to hate on anyone, vaveyard is an grown up woman and she definitely knows what she’s doing and what is best for her story, so please respect if you want to be respected. [i like maven ok?]

why are you anti cal but not anti maven ?
bECAUSE-
Because I’m tired of him being constantly praised. And I think it’s more about Cal stans than Cal.
It all started with this post. ginnys just said her OPINION. Opinion about praising Cal and defending his flaws. And what did the stans do? ATTACKED HER AND DEFENDED CAL. Just look at the notes. “Leave my poor baby Cal he’s perfection”, “Leave my baby alone. He is an angel baby.” Seriously? It just proves ginnys’ point.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to offend anyone, so please stay calm. I just want to show you how does this situation look like for a person who doesn’t like Cal. Majority of rq blogs on tumblr are run by Cal stans. But it doesn’t mean they are the only ones in the fandom. There’s A LOT people who like Maven more than Cal. They just aren’t that active. And do you know why is so? Because at some point, Cal stans started behaving like they are superior in the fandom. Some of them even automatically assume that being in rq fandom = liking Cal and shipping MareCal. (seriously, it happened to me a few times) It’s like… they can freely voice their opinions, saying how much they dislike Maven and Mareven, but NOW, when WE started doing exactly the same (but on a smaller scale) they are livid???? They are like “everyone is entitled to their opinion!! Except if you are hating on Cal. Then you are just stupid. Stupid as fuck. Fuck you. And shut up.” And if someone is going to explain this behaviour to me with an argument that Maven is a villain and Cal is a good guy, so it’s a normal and human to say shit about the bad guy and defend the good one, I’m gonna roll my eyes SO hard. Because Cal has his flaws too and I have right to point them out, the same as we point out Maven’s.
It’s not a secret that I’ve never liked Cal. And yes, his crimes and flaws aren’t as bad as Maven’s, we’ve never denied that. We’ve also never said that we condone or justify his actions, or that we support abuse. N e v e r. We know he has done problematic things and we acknowledge his mistakes (even though they sometimes felt totally OOC - I talked about it with various people and they all agreed on that, but it’s a topic for a different rant). BUT we also know that Maven didn’t choose to be this way. Meanwhile Cal stans are apologists who try to brush his mistakes under the rug. OFC NOT EVERY CAL STAN IS BAD. Nulla regula sine exceptione, right? So please, don’t hate on me, I just shared how does it look like for people who do not enjoy Cal.
And why not Maven? I think the answer is above and in this post. No one ever points out the good things Maven has done and he has actually done a fair amount of good things. I’d even say that he is the most underappreciated charcter EVER. And Cal is the most overappreciated character ever. Because majority of rq fandom kinda acts like Cal and Maven’s dad, putting Cal high on a pedestal and leaving Maven to rot beneath his shadow. And it makeS ME SICK. Not only me.
So… to sum up, the purpose of an anti cal movement was to rise awareness of his flaws and of US, people who don’t like “the prince charming” and want to freely share our opinions. Because we’VE GOT RIGHT TO DO SO.
