"It's hatching season!
My rescued fighting rooster is there to help! He's rescued from Hawaii and has helped me keep quail and baby chickens warm for two years! Never has hurt anyone. 🥰😍 He's also an indoor rooster due to severe leg and keel trauma. He doesn't wear a diaper at night. He has his own bed. Lol
I raise chickens and quail as pets so they're raised in doors. :)
*how I got him! I used to live in Hawaii and cock fighting is really bad there.. I saw him with what appeared to be his intestines hanging out. I jumped a fence, grabbed him, jumped back over and ran before anyone could see me. Lol. I run a rescue for roosters out of Hawaii with a lot of other rehabbers. After a ton of medical care and flying him to Illinois.. Here he is, helping me raise quail and chickens as pets. :)"

Just goes to show that ex fighting roosters even with trauma can make wonderful pets. This handsome boy isn't an outlier it actually isnt uncommon for ex fighters be gentle household companions as long as they aren't housed with other roosters!

Astarion can count on one hand the number of things he remembers from his life before, and most of those are so fuzzy that he’s not sure if they’re real or if he only imagined them, but he’s fairly sure he had a cat. A big long haired fluffy thing, just as spoiled and high maintenance as Astarion was. He doesn’t know what happened to it, but hopes someone took it in after he disappeared.
He’s always had a soft spot for cats, but never let himself get attached to any of the strays he met on his nightly hunts. He was too afraid Cazador would find out about his friend and force him to eat it. It never happened, but Cazador loved crushing every tiny bit of happiness Astarion ever scrounged up, so it was probably a reasonable fear.
It was still a while after killing Cazador that he felt comfortable letting a stray cat rub on his legs and scratch it behind the ears, and if he got a tiny bit choked up when it started purring at him, well, no one needs to know that.

The Animorphs went through so many disgusting experiences. How jaded must they have been when the time came for them to dissect frogs in science class?
Cassie: would be surprisingly zen about the whole thing. If anyone asked why she was so chill with this waste of life, she'd point out that the frogs had longer and higher-quality lives than any of the chickens in the nuggets served in the cafeteria. Plus, this is hardly her first (or hundredth) time seeing a dead animal, given her dad's job.
Jake: would be sitting next to Cassie in silence, handing her the scalpel and accepting the liver and lungs from her as needed. Wouldn't be paying any attention at all to the unit.
Rachel: would be fascinated, and would ask all kinds of unhinged questions. So that's why when you stab someone in the lower abdomen they bleed out of the nose, and oh the way that you can kill someone by driving skull fragments into the brain makes so much more sense now! Rachel's lab partner is edging away down the bench by the time she's finished delightedly noting down on the worksheet that you could probably kill a frog — or a hypothetical 6'-tall frog who was shooting at you — just by removing one of its limbs with sufficient force.
Marco: would be doing that thing where he's quietly disturbed, and loudly making jokes to cover for it. He'd be imitating Kermit with the dead frog as a mock puppet, using a bad French accent to critique the meat quality, kissing his frog on the mouth and then wailing "Prince Charming nooooo!" when this has no effect, and generally making himself a giant nuisance. He can't suppress the obnoxiousness reflex, and anyway... it's just a little guy. It didn't ask for this. What a way to go out, gassed and then pinned to a board in 40 different pieces. And he's definitely not thinking about that thing Cassie said about the chicken, no siree.
Tobias: would like to note that he had no idea those were frogs meant for a science class. Has every intention of suing the school for the massive stomachache he got from swallowing so much formaldehyde.

@tinydancer-39 Not to worry! The experiments were only done on the quills themselves and not on any living hedgehog. (They were taken from an already deceased hedgehog that they did not kill.) I would not have posted that if any animals were getting hurt. I love hedgehogs, and would not post anything regarding animal cruelty.

Is there any backstory for Labriel as for now?
Were their parents/guardians some sort of mad scientists aswell? Or are they just evil for the sake of it?
They’ve always been a bit. Deranged, even before Mandela BioTech was founded. Their parents were fine I’m thinking, but they still got. A weird mentality of being obsessed with fate and being a perfectionist. Not necessarily a bad person at that point.
Went to college for a medical degree, and actually met Amanda there. They both had an interest in biomechanics and the medical field as a whole, so they were able to get along due to that. Somewhere around this time they meet Dave, and become friends.
I’m gonna say around 1981, MBT was founded, being made to manufacture pharmaceuticals and try and advance the medical field. However, things took a turn for the worse when Gabriel started using animal test subjects without much sympathy for them. Their mental decline started, and in around 1992, Gabriel. Snapped.
They decided to make a mutating agent to test on themself, being obsessed with the idea of “perfection” and desperately wanting to be so. Dave tried to prevent them from performing the tests but it was already too late at that point. Their mental state has plummeted, and they decided to start human testing. First on the son of an employee, Adam Murray, and then on Cesar Torres after Adam escaped.

OC Ship Dynamics I Think People Would Enjoy PT. 2
Daughter of an ex-dictator trying to make amends for her father's actions, and the cyborg anti-villain murder bot sent to kill her father.
Same as above, but now there's Jacob!
Girl who cannot STAND being outside in the sun for more than 5 minutes, and girl who continues to drag her to beaches for hours regardless.
Two mentor characters trying to teach the same protagonist the same lessons, but are unaware of the other also being the mentor character.
Guy trying to figure out how to fit in better with humans, and his sister's best friend who throws goat blood on him every time.
Just a superhero team, nothing's going on here! What do you mean they've been a polycule this whole time?
Rogue who's secretly a lord, and is really honestly not that bad, and his Redemption Paladin parole officer/bodyguard/roommate who is shit at being a Paladin and is also an idiot.
Guide to the afterlife, and literally the first person ever to acknowledge that he's lonely and ask to be friends.
Girl who purposefully dresses up like neapolitan ice cream and her girlfriend who is lactose intolerant.
Guy with overly complicated first name & Guy who gave him a nickname that 1) does not relate to his name at all 2) has no connection to anything he does 3) is just another normal name 4) everyone immediately started using to the point that nobody knows his first name, and everyone thinks it's this stupid nickname.

I am so disappointed with children these these days, all they do is play video games and photo apps
Why don't kids torture animals or hit each other with sticks or summon demons anymore?
I hate technology

help my sibling just turned on the tv to watch football and went “holy crap the Baltimore Ravens are KILLING the dolphins” and I
assumed they meant this literally
had vivid aftg flashbacks
got hit with x2000 psychic damage at the mental image of the Ravens (exy team) charging onto the field and just… hitting beached dolphins (the animal) with their exy sticks
also Baltimore was in the name so Lola and Nathan were there, watching with sick satisfaction
this then changed into the Ravens (exy team) just going around ambushing and destroying football teams for their own pleasure
anyways this is what aftg did to me 9.5/10 series love it so much wouldn’t recommend it to anyone how’s your day going?

So if a video is going around wherein a vet or animal husbandman is helping a hurt animal
and the response in the notes is people claiming that the video is not cute because the animal is in distress from having been hurt
and that reblogging the video is an act of cruelty or violence itself because "I don't want to see hurt animals on my dash,"
that itself is the same attitude we see when it comes to humans and humanity--that what's best for suffering people is for them to suffer Elsewhere (in the margins of society, out of sight and out of mind), and that what's best for the non-suffering is to never know how to help.
The logic that person who filmed the suffering in the first place is wrong for it also follows that same track; the suffering happened regardless. Making a teachable moment out of a shitty one is one way to reduce harm, even if it can't erase all of it.
Choosing not to observe suffering does not make you virtuous, it makes you ignorant. The strongest weapon we have against suffering is not ignorance, but knowledge about how to counteract it. The information in the video serves a practical and education function.
No one is required to watch the video, but it's equally true that no one is required to not reblog it, either. Curate your dash better first, then come to terms with the fact that shit happens whether you pay attention to it or not.

group therapy wasn't particularly helpful for me in the intended way, but I do think about those people a lot. a small town partial-hospitalization program is such a weird cross section of humanity. I was one of the only people who was there voluntarily (at my therapist's suggestion)- most people were court ordered to be there, or it was part of a another more extensive program for them. one guy asked me out on a date (i declined). one lady, instead of looking for guidance on her actual life, posed a lot of questions and moral dilemmas from reality TV and soap operas. I less-than tactfully informed her that Dr Phil is not in fact a real doctor. someone was recounting a graphic story about a relative committing animal abuse (not in a therapy discussion just casually chatting like it was a little anecdote). And when I expressed that I didn't want to hear about it, these two boomers, on god, said essentially "people get all worked up about animals but no one cares about veterans 🙄😤 it's so stupid" like. hello ???????????
I guess my point is it really puts things in perspective

All about BECs!
hi everyone!
so, for my AU (hotguy versus cuteguy) there’s a pretty huge bit of lore that would require lots of exposition to describe. so, to save myself the trouble of slowly revealing all the lore/having to explain everything, i’m just going to talk about it in one post.
quick warning before we move forward: I discuss unethical experimentation on sentient beings (animals/humans, including children), self-experimentation, and possibly medical malpractice. it will all be under the cut. stay safe, everyone 💕.
What is a BEC?
BEC stands for Biologically Enhanced Creature. in more specific terms, it’s a humanoid entity that has been genetically modified with animal parts.
Why do they exist?
in the early 1940s, species’ such as the Avian Watcher, Shapeshifter, Spirit, etc. were viewed as mythical/legendary. when their existence was confirmed to be true, scientists began to study their DNA to figure out why they evolved in such a way. with this information, they tried to replicate that with human DNA. thus began an era of scientific discovery and cruelty.
Can only humans be turned into BECs?
nope! in the 1960s, these scientists began to experiment on young animals as well. before the term BEC was coined, they were called Biologically Enhanced Humans, but the term was changed after research expanded to animals as well.
Anything else you want to share that you couldn’t figure out a category for?
yes!
less humanoid BECs are mostly looked down on. this mostly has to do with religion and conceptual ‘humanity’.
terms for humans/non-BEC creatures are also used in certain circumstances. these terms are ‘NEC’ (non-enhanced creature) and ‘PEC’ (paranormally enhanced creature).
a ‘traditional’ BEC is seen as a human with specific animal traits. like a person with dog/cat ears and a tail, bug antennae and wings, et cetera. this is considered a status symbol.
there are certain programs to sign your children up for BEC experimentation. behind the scenes, animals are often tested to see what is and isn’t safe.
cyborg =/= BEC.
What are the species’ of the characters in this AU?
Scar, BDubs, Stress, and Mumbo are human.
Grian and Jimmy are avian watchers.
Etho, Iskall, and Tango are shifters. Etho and Iskall are general shapeshifters, Tango is a Fire spirit shifter.
Ren, Doc, Cleo, Joel, and Lizzie are all BECs. Ren, Joel, and Lizzie are considered ‘traditional’ BECs.
Impulse and Skizz are both imps. Impulse, however, experimented on himself so he could have cyborg parts.
this post may update.
thank you for reading! if anything needs to be tagged, let me know.

2. thoughts on veganism?
i am not a vegan because i struggle to feed myself on a good day as it is with no added dietary restrictions (thank you, garbage body and diet culture childhood) but if you are a vegan i love and support you. i definitely think there are a lot of problems with the meat/dairy industry in this country. i don’t think it’s inherently bad to eat meat (like in a vacuum where animals were treated well/killed humanely for meat i wouldn’t have a problem with it) but let’s just say if/when lab grown meat becomes a thing i will definitely eat that over the current selection.
4. mythical creature you think/believe is real?
i honestly am not a huge mythical creature person.
