" Why the hell did you do that?" I yelled for the millionth time at Jungwoo, who just shrugged still looking crestfallen.

He looked so upset, and all of sudden I felt a little sad for him. A little.

"I didn't know you liked him that much." Jungwoo muttered, avoiding my eyes.

I huffed.

"What kind of best friend are you if you didn't who my crush was?" I muttered, ignoring the sadness growing in me.

I turned around and began walking away, when all of a sudden he caught my arm and turned me towards him.

"What?" I asked.

"Look, I'm sorry. But there is this new cafe which has come up beside the park and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me...." his voice trailed off.

I wrenched my hands out of his grip and folded my arm under my chest and glared at him.

It saddened me to to hurt such a soft person, but he had hurt me more.

"What makes you think I want to go anywhere with you now, Jungwoo?" I asked.

He looked utterly downcast now.

I was beginning to feel like a terrible person now.

"I was hoping, I could make it up to you. You do love donuts a lot. And I've heard that the cafe has rather special food items. So I was hoping, if I bought you a donut, I could be forgiven."

He had his ways.

He always did.

He managed to get away with whatever it was.

All he had to was make that puppy face and everything I owned was his.

I wiggled my fingers at him.

"You better let me eat more than one."

"So this cafe's name is...." I asked, waiting for Jungwoo to reply.

I looked around. It wasn't that big but the place was swarming with people. Still, it was warm and cosy, and the smell of the cakes and drinks were making me really hungry.

"Cafe Resonance." Jungwoo said, smiling at me his usual bright smile.

Seeing Jungwoo smile again made me feel like a stone had been liften off my chest.

"Come one, I got you the Dowoonuts." Jungwoo said, motioning to an empty table beside the windows.

The cafe overlooked the Han river, making it an ideal spot for everyone.

"The what?" I asked, looking at the warm chocolate donuts, ready to swallow them all.

"The Duwoonuts. Each food in this cafe has a different name. And rumour says.." his expression dropped to dead seriousness.

I leaned in closer, ready to swallow whatever idiotic thing he was going to say me.

".....That you fall in love with the person who serves you this."

I sat back.

"Are you trying to jinx me?"

Jungwoo smiled his serenade smile.

"I don't think you'll fall in love with me. I didn't serve you. I think you'll fall in love with the waiter over there." he said, pointing to someone behind me.

I turned back and nodded my head.

"Not bad." I said, looking at the handsome young man, who had an maddening but infectious grin on his face.

I turned back to Jungwoo. "So, tell me why you did that." I demanded him.

He sighed.

He picked something from his Duwoonut and observed it.

"You won't believe me if I said you."

"Why don't you try me?" I asked, picking up my own Duwoonut.

"Look, I know you like Yuta, but he has bad rumours going on about him. I've heard them from some people. Like he's a heartbreaker and what not."

I looked sadly at my Dowoonut ."But he was being so nice to me. And he asked me out so poiltely. And I was going to say yes and you pulled me away. I want to be loved too, Jungwoo."

I saw his jaws working hard.

"If I say I love you, will you love me back?" he asked.

I gently patted his hand and gave him a soft smile.

"I already love you. No need of that." I said, and sank my teeth into the Duwoonut.

I felt the taste explode in my mouth.

The warmth, the sweetness, the chocolate, everything was so perfect.

I felt insides warm up with every bite of the Duwoonut.

"Do you like it?" Jungwoo asked, peering at me through the top of his Dowoonut.

I grinned at him with my chocolate sauce covered lips.

"I loved it! This- this is the best donut in the world! We should come here more often!" I exclaimed.

Jungwoo grinned at me, looking genuinely happy.

All of a sudden, I felt my heart flutter.

I immediately looked away.

What was wrong with me?

We walked side by side beside the Han river, our shoulders gently brushing each other's.

There were a lot of other couples walking around us and for some reason, I was getting this mad urge to grab Jungwoo's hand in mine.

"So." I said itching for more warmth from him.

"So?" Jungwoo asked.

It was a cold and rather windy day and I could feel the goosebumps all over my arm under my thin jacket.

"I'm cold." I stated.

Jungwoo turned towards me, looking concerened.

"Do you need my jacket?" He asked, already taking it off.

"I-" I began but he had already placed in on my shoulders.

He gave me another heart fluttering smile, gently grabbed my hand and began walking.

Far down the road, I saw a couple sitting on the bench.

The woman's head rested on the man's shoulder while he held her close. They both looked so warm and snuggly together that I had a mad urge to snuggle into Jungwoo.

All of a sudden I stopped, realisation dawning on me.

Jungwoo too stopped and turned towards me, concern etched on his face.

Maybe it was the way the wind blew his hair, or maybe it was just the look of concern for me plastered on his beautiful delicate face, but I knew I was in love.

I knew I was in love from the way my body ached to be touched by him.

I knew I was in love from the way my heart fluttered every time he smiled at me.

I knew I was in love because I cried when he cried, I laughed when he laughed and I smiled when he smiled.

I loved his laughter, I loved his smile, I loved his tears, I loved the very existence of him.

"I'm in love." I whispered.

He tilted his head in confusion, his cuteness making my heart flutter once more.

"What?" He asked, coming a bit closer.

I stepped in closer until I could feel his breath hit my face.

"I said," I whispered, "I'm in love. With you."

He stared at me with an open mouth.

Then slowly, he leaned in until our foreheads were touching each other's.

"Well," he began, "it so happens that even I'm in love with you." he whispered back.

And then he leaned in more and pressed his lips against mine.

My eyes fluttered close, as a feeling of warmth spread all across my body.

I wrapped my arms around him and he wrapped his around my waist, pulling me in closer.

Finally, we broke the kiss to catch our breaths.

I felt myself smile as he leaned in once more to brush his lips against mine.

"Do you think it was the Duwoonuts?" he asked.

I laughed lightly.

"I think its just us."

I am a young writer and I go by the pen name Ivor Jerome. This is a blog dedicated to my current works-in-progress and any updates I may have about them. I’ll be showing off cover art, book blurbs, special teasers, and anything else that springs to mind.

At the moment, I am performing major edits on my first real novel: They Are But a Breath. Set in a mythical desert land called Siddam, it tells the story of three brothers, the first a solider, the second a prophet, and the third only a child, dealing with the abuses of their father while also experiencing the strange call of a nearly forgotten deity. As their lives crash back into each other after years of separation, they each are given choices that will not only affect their lives, but perhaps their very souls as well.

The Mythic Trilogy:

Mythic, Cataclysmica, and Deify are what I call a “Small Fantasy.” It is a world based on the intersection between Germanic and Greco-Roman Folklore, but although the setting is large and rich, the story will be small (I was never interested in large wars or political intrigue). It features a young woman named Ganymede (yes, I know that is originally a boy’s name) who is in possession of a book of fairy tales so old and tattered that its cover is missing---but worse of all, so is the ending. She sets out on a quest with her little donkey to find out the ending to the story. Along the way she meets Uthor, the youngest son of the King, who agrees to help her find the missing pages if she will use her knowledge of history and mythology to solve the mystery of a string of temple and museum robberies. But, of course, things are always more than what they seem...

N+A=J, Azor Ahai, and Dawn

Look, before you go and crucify me for presenting and actually believing this theory, just hear me out. I’m not here to convince you or bash on your theory, so please don’t do that with mine.

These are just my opinions and while proof for R+L is stronger and is probably what will happen in the books, I do think that people are missing out on the awesome potential for N+A.

This is not an attempt to prove it. There are people with more dedication and more time on their hands who have tried. I’m only here to discuss why I like this theory from a narrative standpoint better than R+L=J

TLDR: Jon is Azor Ahai and making him a Dayne gives him access to Dawn, cool warg magic, and the potential to be the Sword of the Morning, which I think is pretty sick.

So let’s go!

1. Jon Snow’s Narrative Arc

Jon Snow is arguably the main character of ASOIAF, with Bran and Daenerys joining him as other main protagonists of the series. And it’s no secret why.

All three have very distinct, very important relationships to Magic.

Daenerys has her dragons, Bran is the Three-Eyed Crow, and Jon Snow’s whole storyline is about preparing for the next Long Night. The war against the Others.

It’s been that way since the beginning. We get small bits and pieces of it here and there but once Othar attacks Mormont it’s finally revealed to us and Jon that there are bigger things beyond the wall than wildlings. And we know that this is a complete surprise to Mormont and the other men of the Night’s Watch.

We also know that there is little written about the Others in Westeros at all, seeing as Sam isn’t able to find much on them when he travels to the Citadel.

This leads to the Great Ranging which leads to the Battle of the Fist of the First Men, which leads to the mutiny, which leads to Jon betraying the wildings which leads to the Battle at the Wall, which eventually gets him elected Lord Commander.

My point being, Jon’s storyline at this point has been spent 100% in the North surrounded by magic. There is no indication of him going south, no indication of politics beyond strategy and Stannis, no indication of him doing anything except planning for a battle against the Others and trying to save as many people as possible.

IN FACT! The reason he gets shanked is because he momentarily forgets his duty and puts the same people he promised to save in danger.

Up until Jon gets the pink letter, he never thinks about going south, but then “Arya” is in trouble and he puts NW and wildling men at risk. That is why he gets stabbed, that’s why they say “For the Watch”

Because in doing so he not only forgets his vows, but also the cause the men had pledged themselves to.

Now, all of this next bit is speculation based on what I personally think is going to happen and why I think Jon being Ashara’s son makes for a better narrative.

We know several plot points need to be resolved regarding Jon. I personally think he warged in Ghost, and then Melisandre will give him the last kiss as a priestess of r’hllor, which resurrects him like Beric Dondarrion.

Now, interesting thing here. The last kiss is a common funeral rite for the religion of the R’hllor and there’s another name for it as well.

The last kiss is a rite practiced by the red priests of R'hllor. When a follower of the Lord of Light dies, priests fill their mouths with fire and breathe flame into the deceased, as they believe that fire cleanses and is a bright gift. Harwin and Thoros of the brotherhood without banners refer to it as the kiss of life. (Wiki of Ice and Fire)

So, a kiss of life that is related to fire, that’s interesting. You know what else is interesting?

The exact circumstances of Jon’s death. It’s very different than what happened in the show. The show scene was quoted as being “a bad guy killing a good guy” while the books made it much more morally grey.

The most interesting part of Jon’s death, however, is Bowen Marsh sticking the dagger in Jon. He’s not only the first person to deal a mortal blow, but GRRM describes in detail how much Marsh is weeping, and how tragic this end really is.

Hmmmm, is it just me or is this starting to sound familar?

Flames, saltwater, wow this is really starting to remind me of something, but I can’t quite put my finger on it....

*stares into the camera like I’m on the office*

He’s being set up to be reborn amidst salt and smoke!

And now we get to my main part of the theory (took us long enough) but before that happens I need to make one thing very clear.

The Prince that Was Promised and Azor Ahai are NOT the same person.

Yes, Melisandre refers to them interchangeably, but no offense, she’s wrong...like a lot.

And while we know that Rhaegar knew about TPTWP, it was highly unlikely he knew about the Others, because as stated above, there is little to no information about them in Westeros and they haven’t been seen since the Long Night. So I really don’t have any idea why Rhaegar would think his son was destined to destroy beings that didn’t exist.

He got the details of TPTWP from Valyrian scrolls, and based on the info we have, Valyrians never interacted with the Others.

Azor Ahai on the other hand, is prophecized to directly battle with “the Great Other” which Mel connects to the Others (although this isn’t confirmed). On top of this, here are the two prophecies of Azor Ahai and TPTWP

TPTWP

born of Aerys and Rhaella’s line

born of salt and smoke

prophecised by a bleeding star

has a song of ice and fire

“the dragon must have three heads”

will deliver the world from darkness

will wake dragons from stone

Obviously this is exclusive to Targaryens, and Rhaegar was even thought to be the Prince that was Promised, but I think this applies to Daenerys or Aegon more than Jon even with R+L.

Especially considering Rhaegar used the song of ice and fire line on Aegon before even thinking of Lyanna.

Azor Ahai:

will show up after a long summer

born or reborn amidst salt and smoke

born or reborn after “stars bleed” and “the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world”

will draw forth a burning sword named Lightbringer

will ultimately fight against the Great Other

There’s no mention of dragons, songs, or anything else that most people use to interchange the two. Now the reason I bring this up is because if Jon turns out to be the son of Ned and Ashara, then he not only has a claim to Winterfell through Robb’s will, but he also can claim Dawn, the Dayne’s ancestral sword.

Dawn is a unique sword in the fact that its not made of Valyrian Steel but it’s just as sharp. It’s blade is described as “pale milkglass” and it’s a two-handed greatsword wielded by the Sword of the Morning. It was forged from the heart of a falling star and is the entire origin for House Dayne. It’s even said to glow.

The intesting thing about it? Only a Dayne can wield it.

It’s not passed down from father to son like most Valyrian Steel swords, but is instead given to the knight most worthy of possessing it.

GRRM has always emphasized the importance of Swords, especially Valyrian Steel swords. But I think what’s so interesting about Dawn is that we get its history in the very first book, and Arthur and Ashara Dayne are some of the only named Dornish characters we get from that time period.

(Also, just a fun fact, George has said that if he could wield a sword it would be Dawn, so do with that what you will)

I think that Dawn is Lightbringer, and the fact that George hasn’t given much information about the Daynes (a relatively minor house) when asked, makes me think that they play a much bigger part in the endgame than we think.

They have ties to the First Men, which means they were around during the first Long Night and the Battle for the Dawn. This also means that they potentially have the same warging abilities the Starks do, which would only be heightened if they were joined.

(I have so many theories on the First Men and magic, but that would take longer to get into than this.)

So, if Jon were to be the son of Ned and Ashara, then he could become the Sword of the Morning, which provides interesting imagery when you place it next to “The Long Night”.

It also would create one of my favorite parallels. Ned Stark heads to Starfall to return Dawn to Ashara after killing her brother, The Sword of the Morning. Jon Snow/Stark heads to Starfall to claim Dawn after being declared the Sword of the Morning and Ashara’s son.

Tbh, I just love this theory because magic! And heartbreaking parallels.

In conclusion, ASOIAF is messy and complicated and won’t be solved with a perfect parentage reveal. I think this one is interesting and while I think R+L=J will be what’s revealed (tbh I don’t mind it as long as they don’t romanticize it), I think there’s just as great a story if Jon really is the bastard of Ned and Ashara Dayne.

Memories at Christmas - Lucifer Fanfic Secret Santa Gift

My Secret Santa was @unicorn-vibes-99 ! I hope you like it! :)

Lucifer was so over Christmas. Don’t get him wrong, he loved the idea of gifts and spending time with people he actually liked, he just hated that whole all about DAD part. I mean the man already had his followers worshiping him year round, did he really need a whole season? Besides His actual birthday would be about July 17th on the Earth calendar. So that is why, when asked what fun things he would be doing for Christmas by one favorite, female detective, Lucifer’s reply was, “Bah Humbug I say. Who needs that silly old holiday? Now Valentine’s day is really where it’s at!”

Chloe shook her head. Of course the man who had “God” Dad issues would take offence to the happy season. “Oh come on Lucifer, it’s not that bad! There’s parties with friends, giving the people you love gifts, being cozy around the fire?” She gave him a half grin, “But before we can properly celebrate we have to finish this case.” She grabbed her coat and as they walked out to the car Chloe filled Lucifer in on the case.

Unknown to Chloe as they were walking away, Lucifer wasn’t listening to a single thing she said. His mind was stuck on something she had said way before. “Giving the people you can actually stand gifts, wild parties, and cuddling by a fire.” Well maybe not her exact words but most of the main idea was there. If he got the detective a gift she liked, well then clearly that would mean actually fun, Adult, partying ending in a night of bliss. Lucifer was over the moon. Was his Detective finally opening up for him? Letting loose? Well he was not going to let this chance pass him. Determined, Lucifer mind raced with ideas as they finally arrived at the crime scene.

As they passed the police line, Ella greeted them with a smile. “Merry Christmas guys! Well, maybe not so merry for this poor guys.” She grimaced with a chuckle. “Meet Jacob Marley. A wealthy business partner to Accounting Credit Firm. Sign show foul play. Strangled to death by this Christmas decoration chain.

She was cut off by Lucifer, “AHA! Christmas! See Detective? If this poor man had not celebrated Christmas, he would probably still be alive.”

Chloe rolled her eyes and waved her hand dismissively. “Any Witnesses or suspects yet?”

Ella gave a quick nod, “A couple people saw him last night, we found them from the security cameras and called them in. A couple of people asking for charity donations, Jacob’s nephew, and his business partner John Albert. They’re all over there if you want to question them.” Chloe nodded her thanks and started heading over when Lucifer called out to her.

“Ah- I’ll be there in just a second detective! I just need to uh ask Miss Lopez over here a quick… hmm private! Yes. Private question.” Both girls gave Lucifer a weird look but used to his antics, Chloe rolled her eyes and walked on. Now that the Detective was gone Lucifer grinned. “SO! Miss Lopez you know female things, mostly and you’re rather close to the Detective yes?”

Ella Smirked at him, “yes? I like to think Chloe and I are close, why?”

Lucifer checked to make sure they were out of earshot before asking, “I’m rather stuck on what to get the detective for the holidays. Do you have any clues on something she would love? Normally I would just ask what she desires but that doesn’t work on her. Maybe some expensive jewelry, or a car?”

Ella raised an eyebrow at him, “Oh come on Lucifer, as much as Chloe would like those things, Christmas is about giving from the heart! She doesn’t care about how much money a gift costs, she cares about the thought behind it. Hey! An experience is always a fun gift and it can come from the heart! What about volunteering together at a soup kitchen?”

Lucifer wrinkled his nose in disgust. “If I wanted to bring the Detective somewhere with less class than she deserves, then I would bring her to Detective douchebag's house. You’re no help.” With that he walked after the detective who was currently interviewing the deceased man’s nephew.

“I just popped over to invite him to our family dinner. I mean he never comes, but he was family so even if he stood us up every single year, no one deserves to be alone on Christmas.” The nephew, Fred Clifford seemed distraught as he mournfully informed Chloe on why he was there the day before.

“Inviting the old man even after he turned you down over and over again? That must have really hurt, unless it was something else you were after hm?” Lucifer grinned popping in, “Your uncle over there was a very wealthy man and after all Christmas is a very expensive time of year, so tell me, what was it that you truly desired?”

“I… I..” Fred studdered then finished suddenly, “I wanted us to be a family again.” Suddenly snapping out of Lucifer’s gaze. “I just wanted us to be together again and for him to be happy.” Fred mumbled lowering his gaze.

Lucifer and Chloe shared a look. The nephew was clearly not busy plotting murder for the holidays. Chloe nodded her head and replied, “I’m sorry for your loss, thank you for your time and we’ll be in contact if we have any further questions.

“Well that was a waste of time.” Lucifer grumbled as they headed over to their final witness, the victim’s business partner John Albert.

“Well at least we know it’s not him. They donation collectors just said the victim wrote him a check for zero dollars, laughed, then slammed the door shut. After insulting the victim more the collector told me he went to the next house and the neighbors confirmed this with a different officer.”

“Hmm, might be an easy case then with only one visitor left.” Lucifer commented. He grinned. Perfect. Solve the case quickly and he could start looking for gifts for the Detective. Everything would work out perfectly. He grinned as they reached their final witness

“Hell-” Chloe tried to say before being rudely cut off.

“I’m not saying a THING until my lawyer gets here.” John Albert grumbled looking snidely at the pair.

Lucifer rolled his eyes. “Well that’s not reason to be so cross.” He humphed.

The old man laughed crossly and waggled his finger at Lucifer, “Christmas is a bunch of nonsense. All people do is spend money they don’t have to get more things they don’t need. It’s a bunch of greedy nonsense if you ask me!”

“AH! Now that IS something we can agree on! But besides that we can agree that you murdered your partner. Case closed let’s go Detective.”

“You have no proof.” John argued looking smug. “You can’t pin anything on me! I know how this works! Christmas is a big joke just like you two!”

Chloe held up a hand as Lucifer was about to argue back, “What were you doing here last night? The cameras pin you here within the time of the murder.”

“Working a deal of course! Jacob had some nonsense in his head about selling his part of the business and giving it to his nephew. I talked him out of that nonsense and left! Now I won’t say anything else until my lawyer gets here!”

Chloe pulled Lucifer aside. “Maybe John didn’t like the thought of possibly losing money to Jacob’s nephew so he killed him so he could keep the entire business?” Lucifer nodded. Seemed simple enough. “I’ll go get a warrant to look at his records.” Meet back at the station in an hour?” Lucifer nodded and they split ways.

Lucifer took a cab to a high end mall. As he walked the stores he frowned thinking of what Miss Lopez had said and shook his head. If The Detective didn’t want an expensive gift, and he refused to make her do some lowly servitude job, what could he get her? Lucifer paused as he looked into a music shop. He froze when his eyes landed on a small children’s piano as memories flooded back to him.

It was back when he was but a fledgling of an angle, long before humanity was created. Dad had picked him up told him he had a surprise for him. It had been his first piano about the size of the one he saw in the shop. Lucifer had played that piano until he had gotten an adult one. But that was all back before Dad had betrayed him and everything had fallen apart.

Lucifer blinked several times coming out of that memory. He hummed in thought. He had almost forgotten that memory of happier, joyful times. He then thought back to the third witness from their case. Lucifer’s frown deepened. Just because he didn’t want to celebrate his father did not mean he had to become a self centered curmudgeon like John Albert. With a nod and his determination renewed, Lucifer prowled the storefronts for the perfect gift.

Finally he decided on two gifts. The first was clearly the favorite. It was a Glass centerpiece that was lavashed in jewels and gold, something one might find in a millionaire's house. The second, Lucifer got only because of Ella’s words about coming from “the heart” It was a small framed photo of Lucifer, Chloe, and Trixie from their game night. Lucifer secretly smiled every time he saw it and embarrassed wondered if he should even bother giving it. The frame wasn’t flashy or big. The photo wasn’t classy nor eye catching. Nevertheless, Lucifer dutifully wrapped it along with the centerpiece and was about to head to the station when his phone buzzed. Chloe had texted him stating, “Forget about the warrant, found DNA on Victim belonging to John Albert, plus destroyed camera in neighbor’s trash that Ella found that has video of the murder. Meet at John’s house for arrest. 5847 Sunride AVE. NW”

With a chuckle Lucifer headed out holding onto his two gifts for Chloe. He arrived late as Chloe’s car was already there. Lucifer shrugged and started to head in when suddenly -

B A N G!

“WAIT NO-!”

CRASH!

The door Lucifer was about to go through had slammed open and John Albert himself was trying to escape. Unfortunately, He had slammed right into Lucifer making him drop and break the expensive centerpiece. With a rage, Lucifer grabbed the man and picked him up.

“You owe me several hundred dollars and the perfect Christmas gift!” Lucifer growled

“Lucifer! You got him! Easy. I’ll cuff him.” Chloe grinned putting her gun away and grabbing the cuffs. She quickly put him in the back of her car while Lucifer glumly threw the broken present away. “Ready to go?” She asked him confused as he looked miserably as a small square package.

“Er… I wanted to give this to you Detective.. Sorry I know it’s not a very good gift..” He frowned and held out the teal package. Curiously, Chloe took it and slowly opened it.

“Oh Lucifer!” He looked up and instead of disappointment on her face she glowed with a huge smile on her face, “I love it! Thank you!”

“You… you love it?” Lucifer asked incredulously.

“Yes!” Chloe laughed, “And I’m sure Trixie will too! Why don’t you come over tonight and join us for some hot coco and Christmas movies?” She asked

“Well… It’s not the adult party I was hoping for…” Lucifer grinned, “But It’ll have to do. Come on Detective! This murderer isn’t going to bring himself to jail! We have hot coco to drink!” With that he hurried into the car. Maybe this whole Christmas thing wouldn’t be so bad after all.

I just need to talk about yesterday

It straight up sucked. So damn much happened at work.

I am so fucking angry about this. Why? Because she made me feel like shit in front of the whole office! “You should have paid attention to the work order!” I... I literally did. It said black and white where I’m supposed to look... “Didn’t you see the highlights?!” Yes... but why didn’t you highlight the top where it said red numbers?! “I lost money on this job!” Well, bitch, you should have priced it in color.

I was fuming afterwards. And then when I started cutting printed jobs, I noticed a huge discrepancy from the top and bottom of the page. Turns out the new girl doesn’t know how to use InDesign templates correctly. But you know what? My quick thinking and problem solving skills saved the entire job from having to be reprinted. And what did I get for that? NOTHING!

Whatever...

And then came my lunch break. I was sitting at my desk going through emails on my phone and Bitchass asks the new girl, “If I asked you to drop what you were working on and do something else, would you have a problem with that?” And I’m just like WTF?! Are you seriously making a dig at me and my ADHD?!

I’m absolutely flabbergasted at this point. There’s more to it that I can’t remember exactly but that was the gist. I was literally speechless. Like, what are you trying to say? Are you implying that I can’t do that? Are you trying to make me look bad? I just can’t even right now.

Anyway, the rest of the day passes and I finally get off work. I head home to change into something more fun because I’m going to a lecture that evening with the branch manager of the NWS. This is the guy you wanna get to know because he’s responsible for financing projects and research. Of course I wanna get to know him and hear his lecture!

It starts off funny enough. He’s got some great anecdotes about college and grad school and starting at the NWS as a programmer. But then towards the end of the lecture he begins talking about how his bosses have always had his back and how they’ve been so encouraging and helpful and it really hit me harder than I expected.

Coming off the day I had, my entire mental state shifted. I went from being excited to feeling absolutely worthless. It was the absolute worst depression attack I’ve ever experienced. There was a point during questions where I damn near burst into tears.

Instead of going out, which was one of my other reasons for going to the lecture, I hightailed out of the hall and headed back to my car, tearing up as I walked through the parking lot until I was safely inside my vehicle.

And then came the torrent of tears and all the terrible thoughts that kept racing through my head.

And that’s how I ended up ditching my own post birthday celebration with friends I hadn’t seen in a while and pretty much letting Weather Dad down.

I bawled my eyes out after receiving those texts because I felt like such a failure. I cried so hard last night that I was still sniffing when I woke up this morning and had a massive headache.

I feel like I lost a part of myself last night. I feel like I let everyone down, especially me. I felt like I didn’t deserve going out and enjoying myself because I had failed in so many ways that day, what was one more failure? Besides, I knew I was just going to sit off in a corner by myself and be completely ignored while I wallowed. So, what was the point in going out?

I went home and broke there, alone, with just Mocha to keep me company. I’m still hurting. I’ll probably be hurting for a long time to come. I don’t want to saddle anyone else with this hurt so I’m just going to keep it to myself. Yes, it’ll spill out here as a way to cope while I wait to see what happens with my insurance and if I’ll be able to afford a therapist again. I don’t expect anyone to read this. It’s mostly just for me as a way of keeping track of my depression.

I won’t lie, though. After yesterday, the suicidal thought came back with a vengeance. They were on my mind when I woke up this morning. They’re still on my mind now. They’re not as bad, but they linger in everything I do. But you know they’re bad enough when they stay with you even after your sister brings home a new puppy. I’ll post about him later, though. It’s not the right time now.

Stellar story and excellent end to a wonderful series! Tension mounted as Neo and Kendrick faced off against a wicked foe as the team pulled together to solve problems dealing with Mosaic, mercenaries, assassins and two young children in need of a home. There is an intriguing introduction for spinoff series that will follow I can hardly wait!

What I liked:

* Neo: Attractive, intelligent, computer hacker, rough childhood, protective, caring, perfect with Kendrick.

* Kendrick: Charming, ivy league graduate, computer guru, charming, great family, patient, knows what he wants, perfect for Neo.

* Dorian & Ray: difficult backstory, lethal, PTSD, survivors, perfect together, given an opportunity to be a family…I liked them.

* Wavy Bollinger & Ian DeRose’s meet cute – looking forward to their story in the new series.

* Theo & Savannah: tough, resilient, survived a horrific ordeal, orphans, found a safe place to land.

* Catching up with some of the team members and their close almost familial ties

* That the team prevailed in tough situations.

* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:

* Those working for Mosaic

* Having to wait for the next book in the nw series.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 Recap Pt.2

WARNINGS: SPOILERS; not a D@€n€r¥$ fan; Jonsa shipper.

3.- Back on Eastwatch Gendry is bitching to Beric and Thoros for their betrayal, and The Hound tells him to shut the fuck up (god the Hound is such a #mood character) and honestly I get a bit confused round here cuz so much stuff happens on Eastwatch I don’t even remember the order of this two conversations:

Tormund attempts to talk to the Hound, it’s hillarious, and you know what? They talk about Brienne, someone they have in common, #yes I am very salty Arya hasn’t been mentioned at all.

Beric and Jon have a conversation, again very intresting cuz Beric says Jon doesn’t look like Ned at all (for real you going there Beric?) and he must look like his mom (wasn’t he the one Stark children that looked the most like Ned??? The show confuses me greatly) just so we could be reminded again that indeed Jon looks like Lyanna and that *looks at smudged writing on my hand* Ragger Targpycola is his sperm donnor, thus he is a Targ. Also we get Jon saying he is going through all this bullshit dumbass hunt for the North (pls keep this in mind I beg you) Beric says he is doing this not for any King or Queen to sit on a throne (curioser and curioser) he is doing it for life, Jon quotes his vows of the NW, and they have this very intresting convo about life and the inevitabiliy of death.

I find very intresting Beric once again remind us of the little importance of titles and thrones right now, and Jon quoting his NW vows plus that Mance reminder he got from Tormund, well well I can see where this is going.

Also Beric knows about Jon’s resurrection but D the supposed Love of his life epic wuv story owo doesn’t, also Jon doesn’t seemed bothered by Beric knowing, and they both talk about what a cryptic asshole is R'hollor.

Yeah so The Hound guides them to the mountain with the arrow shaped top (yeah you know the one he saw in his insta vision) but they have to cross a frozen lake (the ice is not so thick) and a giant ass Wight bear is coming towards them, actually I found this whole thing so boring? The bear looked really fake (guess all that budget went to dragons) and really the whole purpose of this is to create fake tension and sense of danger, I couldn’t even get worried about any of the Suicide Squad, Thoros got injured but again he is one very minor character not that popular with the audience so we can kiss this drunken red priest goodbye.

Yeah so after this absolute bullshit they atract the attention of the WW building a fire, and ambush them (this FUCKING plan y'all) they very predictably are getting their assess handed to them by the wights til Jon kills the WW and the wights drop dead on the spot (k I take it back this is the CW, only in the V@mpir€ Di@ri€$ such convinient stuff happens) shit hits the metaphorical fan when an entire army of the death is matching towards our brave (and dumb) heroes.

Gendry being the fastest runner is sent back to Eastwatch to send for help while the Hound struggles to capture the only wight that very conviniently didn’t turn to dust when they killed the WW (I never thought to get a dumber storyline than the Jaime and Bronn rescue Myrcella from Dorne with no plan whatsoever but here we are) and how??? Like this would have been easily solved by bringing horses, or you know a damned raven!!! Jon already did an expedition beyond the wall! He was the goddamned Lord Commander and didn’t he for a moment consider they might need this stuff for a Wight hunt???? Deus ex machina in it’s finest. Also Gendry told us at the beginning of the damn episode it was the first time he has seen snow, he doesn’t know the territory how is he getting back to Eastwatch??? This makes even less sense by the minute I just can take seriously any of this stuff thus I can’t get emotionally involved and be seriously scared or worried for Suicide Squad.

Yeah so part of the lake cracks under the weight of thousands of animated corpses and dumb wight hunters, and they are left on a circule of ice surrounded by wights, that I shit you not are waiting for the lake to freeze again so they can attack, I just– fuck it!

4.-Back on WF (oh fuck me) Sansa is on Arya’s chambers, I guess she is looking for something that gives her an idea as to who is exactly this person her little sister became, when she finds the bag of faces, Sansa is (rightfully) horrified, Arya enters the room talking all cryptically but Sansa is not up for this mindgames, dammit not with her family! And asks directly what they are, Arya gives her an answer and a vague threat of taking Sansa’s face, whyyyyyy dude??? Another big trigger for Sansa, her abuser flyed people alive, hell she flyed that nice granny that tried to help Sansa, I know Arya doesn’t know, and I am not comparing her with Ramsey, but fuck what is it with the let’s play a game as all this fucked up mind games, if this is a ploy I have no doubt Sansa will forgive Arya, and Arya is gonna feel terrible when she finds out all that Sansa went through, but D&D are truly doing some great disservice to Arya, so this game as a lot of people realized is the Faces Game, Arya has already said her lie and gave Sansa the dagger.

Sansa confirms my suspicion in this whole secret ploy of playing LF by going to him, and pretends to trust him with what Arya is doing (only a fool would trust LF) without mentioning the dagger and he suggests maybe Brienne can take care of Arya if things go that far.

And also the only reason she cares about the Northern Lords finding out about the letter is that she doesn’t want Jon loosing his army, holy fuck she really loves him, even LF must know for he is not trying to undermine Jon in any way.

This is the only possitive thing that has come from this stuff.

5.- Gendry arrives at Eastwatch and tells them to send a raven to D. Meanwhile she is chilling on DS with Tyrion, she’s frustrated by all this stupid heroic man like Jorah, Daario and this Jon Snow.

Tyrion frowns and point out at all this man are in Love with her (LMAO where?????) cuz all those longing looks are not to form an alliance (dude you’d be surprised)

Speculation time! Isn’t this super super wierd? I mean with Jorah we get all this big gestures in her name and stares, same with Daario who always softened with her and smiled a lot, but Jon??? excuse me but there are no fucking scenes to support Tyrion’s claim. And I think Tyrion knows, remember last episode’s farwell, yes the one where Jon doesn’t turn around cuz he doesn’t give a fuck, Jorah did turn around and D was giving full heart eyes, you know who saw all of this? Tyrion, he even gets a close up. Dude but why would he pushed this idea on D’s mind, oh I don’t know maybe to MAKE HER LISTEN, she listened to Daario about the fighting pits, and Tyrion has seen first hand (that don’t be more of the same speech) that Jon is good and maybe his influence could be good on D.

D says Jon is not in love with her but her expression tells me she really believes he is, oh my god her self absortion knows no bounds. Dude why would he be??? Also that gross ass comment about Jon being too short in front of Tyrion wow dude way to be insensitive.

Anyway they are discusing startegies for the upcoming reunion with Cersei, and gods D is super annoying, she is blaming Tyrion for his plans while simultaneously asking him for a plan like??? And what are *you* gonna do girl? What are *you* proposing? Just ride your dragon into KL and call yourself queen? That’s your strategy for everything sorry if I am skeptical about your supposed greatness. Very easy to point fingers at people when you are doing nothing but wait for their plans to benefit you.

Tyrion still tries to explain why having people fear you is not a good thing for a ruler that supposedly wants to break the wheel, when she the D compares herself with Aegon the Conqueror (damn I am getting good at analysing this stuff) I was like ???? She thinks being a conqueror is a good thing? How??? She is so narrow minded is painful to watch and hear. Tyrion is just as horrified, excuse the hell outta me but why are y'all having to talk her out of burning people and destroying places/resources, how is anyone like that worthy of the power and responsabilities that come with ruling?? and D gets fucking paranoid (so we begin to emmulate daddy dearest aren’t we) and says Tyrion doesn’t want to destroy his family, excuse the fuck out of me but she knows Tyrion was being persecuted for his father and nephew’s murder, she knows Cersei hates him cuz he told her and I can just feel sorry for Tyrion, he believed and admired this woman so much (tho he is also to blame for letting himself be dazzled by the pretty speeches and dragons) and now he is really getting to know her

Tyrion implies he wants to form a good strategy so she don’t lose her temper and…

“I never lose my temper” she said while losing her temper.“

He is like ummm the Tarlys? And she is trying to justify herself mother of god what is wrong with her? Even Tyrion says what she did was completely unnecessary.

He wants to talk about important stuff like how she plans to go about breaking the wheel, cuz he is smart enough to know they are not easy quick changes and it could take more than a lifetime for her to change the world, how is her legacy gonna live on after she is dead, you know this is pretty important stuff she should be concerned about (this stuff about family and legacy has been touched upon since this season first episode on the Jaime/Cersei scene) but she retorts with the fact that she is struggling with infertility and that if Tyrion has maybe disscused her death with Jaime? Tyrion explains how concerned he was about her well being during the Loot Train attack and she is awful really, she is completely delusional about Tyrion trying to betray her, but I also think it would be good to talk about the succession once she is queen so I give her that.

I seriously think Tyrion is gonna dump her anytime now.

I think you're being a little too hard on dany. Yeah, she hasn't had exactly the best tenure as queen, she's made lots of mistakes, but when you think about it, it's not entirely her fault. 1) she hasn't had the education that say, jon, tyrion or robb had, she was never supposed to be queen, for most of her life, the only things she knew about westeros were things viserys told her, which was likely very biased and not 100% accurate, she was on the run most of her life and then sold at 13 -

-to a man she doesn’t know. 2) during her tenure we can’t say she has had the wisest, brightest counseling, the best is probably barristan and it’s not saying much, barristan is a knight, not a ruler. This is why i can’t wait for her to meet tyrion, he would be the best adviser she could ever have, if then, with his cousel, she still fails, then maybe we can talk about her not being fit to rule. The context she’s in is also very different from anything she knows, from the free cities to what -little she knows about westeros, and she can’t really trust most of the local advisers… i don’t think many people would do better than her in this situation. Also jon is also a flawed ruler, I like him a lot better the dany, but he’s had a better education then her and isn’t ruling in a context he isn’t familiar with. Besides we like him as a ruler bc we are inside his mind, we know what he thinks, why he does what he does, we see him as pragmatic, open minded, and we love him for that, but -but where he fails is communicating his plans to his subordinates, not only bowen marsh & co, even his friends (those he doesn’t send away, another mistake!! the saying goes keep your friends close, your enemies closer, he forgot the first part), to them he’s betraying the watch by allowing the freefolk south the wall, if he only could communicate, maybe he wouldn’t be dead now… I do believe he’ll get better, learn from his mistakes, but so will dany. I’m not criticising, just discussing, i -hope you’re not offended :)) sorry for the long ask

anyway on to it: I’ll admit I’m probably a bit biased about dany in the sense that like, premise: I don’t hate her or anything and I think she’s fairly okay and I did like her povs up until asos, and then the ones in adwd were imo in dire need of an editor bringing an axe to them and I found them so boring that I probably don’t remember half of what happened so like, my opinions on dany are probably not as reliable as my opinions on theon or robb or jaime or people I’m actually interested in and whose povs I re-read more than once, but.

I agree that she hasn’t had an education in that sense, but thing is: these people we’re mentioning are all kids (never mind that the adults don’t do much better but still) and out of them, jon is the only one who’s managed to hold his own except for his PA problem because he sucks at communicating (that’s why he and robb would have been an a+ team haha) and the thing with dany is that… like… I don’t know how the hell to put it, but she has too many good intentions and too badly done executions.

like, it’s one of the few parts I remember clearly from adwd because I couldn’t stop thinking what the hell, but basically: you’ve been wanting to go to westeros since book one, you get a guy giving you an entire fleet and an alliance with dorne if you marry him and you tell him no while thinking if you had looked like your hot friend with you I might have said yes? like, the thing is that if you want to *rule* you can’t let yourself be ruled by that kind of thing. and fine, she’s a teenager so it’s normal that she wants to bang the hot guy or has the hots for daario and so on, but if you want to be a queen or a ruler then you… have to set it aside? in the show they made her do it (at least) and maybe in the book she’s getting there but fact is, there isn’t one thing she got right in mereen and her entire mindset of approaching ruling imo is completely flawed.

and I mean, robb was fucked the moment he won at the whispering wood because if tywin lannister is planning your demise treacherously then you’re a dead man walking if he doesn’t die first but his worst mistakes were made out of consequences of impulsive decisions he took in a bad emotional moment (losing the frey alliance because he slept with jeyne because theon betrayed him and so on) and he did have the education. the reason I think jon’s the one with the best tenure out of the three (because his achilles’s heel is that he’s an introvert with bad communication issues mainly) is that he’s the only one who has - until now - managed to keep emotions and duty separate and even when he didn’t he did it later (ie he could have just defected and have all the red haired children in the world with ygritte but he didn’t), and when ruling he can separate his needs from what he has to do (which is why stannis likes him or at least one of the reasons why). and even if he’s too hard on himself (DON’T SHUT YOUR FRIENDS OUT JON) if you don’t count his miscommunication issues you know he’s pragmatic, he can weigh bad vs good consequences and that’s why I think that jon/dany if it happens will happen because it’s ultimately the best tactical choice and he’s gonna do it but without necessarily enjoying it. like, we’re also in dany’s head during adwd and in his and imo there was a really stark difference (hahahahaha puns!) in between how he approached ruling and how she did. and fine, he had the advantage of doing it somewhere he knew, but I really doubt jon got the exact same education as robb when it came to becoming lord of winterfell (and robb had an education for that, not for kingship, and he said it - I’m trying to do the best I can but idk what the fuck I’m doing) and he basically’s going out of WHAT WOULD MY FATHER HAVE DONE + WHAT HAVE PEOPLE TAUGHT ME ON THE WALL which imo is not all necessarily healthy (like, kill the boy and let the man be born has good sides and bad sides…) and with that he still managed to find a way to replenish the ranks, find food for winter, solve their financial woes, find allies against the white walkers and if he could have managed his PA and done some cultural integration his plan was to end the war with the wildlings too which has been a thing since forever? like, he’s flawed but eventually he’s the only one out of all the teenagers in a ruling position in westeros who was going somewhere and who had a vision he knew how to act on and who wasn’t putting feelings over needs, and on top of that the battle with the wildlings was basically him organizing the entire defenses and behaving like a seasoned commander at what, fifteen? sixteen? robb was probably better at that ngl and it shows they did have the same education there, but he did all of that without dragons and with an understaffed NW. and where did he fuck up? when he broke down and said he was going to winterfell to find arya.

as in, when it got personal. the one time that started the revolt was the one time he put feelings over needs. except that he did it once, dany’s done that for the entirety of her tenure while instead when she was khaleesing she was actually doing a lot better than average because I mean since she’s not an asshole she treats her warriors with respect and not as if they’re disposable slaves and she’s entirely more compassionate than the average. like, for a khaleesi she’s really really really good, as a ruler she’s really not as much and it’s personality-driven too. same as I think jon would be a terrible khal but is a very good ruler/defender. and when I say that imo dany’s better off khaleesing in essos it’s not because I don’t like her, it’s because I honestly think she’d do more good and do better with that lifestyle than on the iron throne. also because she’s there to deconstruct the whole ‘CONQUEROR WHO COMES FROM OUTSIDE AND MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER’ type and idk if she gets on the throne in westeros it’s really too obvious and not at all a deconstruction unless both she and jon hate it, so *shrug*.

I mean, obviously both will learn from their mistakes and there’ll be character development - I don’t think that hers necessarily means becoming a good ruler because until she learns to distinguish feelings and needs and to be less emotion-driven (and until she learns that she’s not always right just because she’s daenerys targaryen and the blood of the dragon) she won’t get there. hopefully tyrion’s counseling might get her there, but my point is that jon already has the right priorities sorted and he has a personality/way of thinking that lends itself to that job, dany imo doesn’t.

but that’s me obviously. also again I’m not a dany expert and like, I don’t hate her but my opinions on dany are what they are, don’t expect the same level of me having thought it through as my opinions re characters I actually care about xD

Rule the Waves 2 Review : Does it Still Rule?

It’s June, 1944. A line of French battleships screens a motley collection of carriers, escort carriers, and destroyers. The sun is about to rise as flight crews prepare to attack a target in Sardinia. Our fighters are inferior to the Monarchist Italians, but our bombers are glorious. The signal is sent, and waves launch…

Rule the Waves 2 is a early-mid 20th century naval combat simulator/ship designer/bureaucrat game. Have you ever wanted to play as Jackie Fisher? Designing new fleets, tactics, all the while fighting off political demands? Balancing a budget, starting wars to get more money, torpedo’ing civil reforms? Then this is your game.

The first Rule the Waves was a surprise hit. It built upon a basic simulation layer (the lackluster Steam and Iron) with an entirely unique strategic layer. RtW1 broke ground into an entirely new area unlike anything else out there. From 1900 to about 1925 you got to control the great worlds navies and steer them through a changing era.

It’s like a cake. A base layer of chocolate cake is good. But add frosting and man, you’ve got a tasty creation. A subtle layering of flavors can make a basic dessert into a masterpiece. But get too wild or stray too far and you no longer have a tasty condiment but a mess of flavors.

The TLDR

Let’s cut to the belt armor here. RTW2 is a fun game. But it’s also a mess. It’s plagued by errors, crashes, bad design, complete lack of UI beyond Microsoft Excel, but through it all somehow maintains a quaint charm. The devs and publishers have screwed up PR in so many ways they make the Battlefront guys look civil and professional.

First let’s look at what it gets right. It gets a lot of things right. The ship designer, an afterthought of common derision in 4X games, is fun here. Not only fun but a place where a choice in the early game can have a long life into the 50’s.

As your technology progresses you’ll unlock better turrets, weight savings, speed, so a ship from 1945 is much more powerful than the same tonnage from 1915. You always walk the cutting edge between budgetary needs and military desires.

That is the core of the beauty here. Tradeoffs. Do you act belligerently for more funding, and tension, or play civil and stretch out a few more months till war? You always need more money. Tension is about the only way to get more.

The major change to RTW2 is aircraft. This is a game for the carrier age. While the Dreadnaught was king in 1918, the aircraft carrier reins supreme in 1940 on. Force projection really becomes amazing. You send your carriers to the extent of the range and strike, hoping that the enemy hasn’t done the same to you.

When it works right, it works exceptionally well. The horror of seeing 20 torpedo bombers appearing on your fleet is priceless. You definitely feel like a Nimitz or a Yamamato.

As each turn progresses you may get a political choice, you may see research progress, or even see a ship or sub completed. Depending on the budget you can design, build, train, allocate, shift about, or just click next turn.

Once you enter a war you’ll get missions. You may accept or decline them (as may the opponent). These range from convoy defense to bombardment to fleet engagements. Declining them costs victory points. The battles themselves are real time with acceleration.

The battles, for the most part, feel pretty good. The control setup is rather obscure and can be a pain for large fleets. One must be careful to not accept a mission with your forces deep inside hostile waters, and this can be a real pain depending on the theater.

Aircraft, the core of this release, are almost an abstraction. Yes, kind of visible in a weirdly obscure way, but they are functional. Little red dots signify air groups, slightly larger ones airships.

The AI is competent. It behaves like you’d expect and can surprise you with a destroyer rush. Sometimes missions end with no contact, but that’s OK, usually someone is going to Davy Jones’s Locker. Or wherever airplanes go when they crash into the water.

The process to launch them though is a pain. Unlike gunships that open fire on their own, you must give strike orders to your strike aircraft. Then the little icons fly off and eventually you get a pop up announcing a strike. You may get a few hits and they recover.

It is very satisfying to see things like airships and parasite fighters moving about of their own volition. Seeing AI strikes come and go is really exciting, even if you usually have zero control over the units. This is both historical, and in some cases absolutely not.

More than once I entered a war thinking I was predator only to discover that my battlecruisers lacked punch, or my planes were out ranged. Now I was on a defensive footing attempting to draw out the hostiles. The nature of the world map made this challenging as you don’t get to choose the engagements.

The Ugly

Which brings us to the bad. I’m tempering this as this is a small team (one man?).

Aircraft, the main theme of this game, are both land and naval based. You as the player can control the naval based aircraft. Determining the details of land based aircraft, beyond a checkbox, is out of your control. Which leads to the Thunderdome.

The Thunderdome is what happens when every airbase you have launches strikes along with every airbase the enemy has. For me this has been the Mediterranean. Aircraft don’t begin in the air, no assets are pre-deployed, every single plane launches at mission start. Often with hilarious outcomes.

But the utter lack of coordination can be maddening. Planes bomb airfields, hundreds of aircraft are destroyed, all the in the span of a day. By the next mission everything seems to be fine and beyond a VP loss doesn’t seem to make much matter. On top of it the game halts every time the Thunderdome progresses so it can take an hour of just pushing next while having no control.

It’s neat to see the first time but then becomes rapidly stale. Much of this could be abstracted and simulated away and the player would be none the wiser. About the only time it could have an impact is when land based air units directly come hunting.

Among the most glaring issues is the war system. The world will only go to war against you. Multiple nations may attack you, but they will never attack each other. Now a nation may ally with you and appear in a limited fashion, but you never get to dogpile into an AI war.

Confederates? Really?

Another odd choice is including the Confederates States of America as a “what if” but not including the Ottomans, a historical figure that at least could have had an interesting navy. Countless other “minor” powers would have made for more engaging gameplay on a limited scale. Let me play a Spain or Sweden with a more limited scope.

Supposedly SAM’s and AAM’s are coming in a future update but I’m not sure it’ll add much other than a layer of abstraction rather like the bombs or torpedo’s.

The homegrown DRM is another oddity worth mentioning. You purchase the game, run it, generate a Site code and a MID string. Then you send the codes to an email address. Then you wait for an individual to respond back with your serial number. You get a 3 day grace period in case said individual is busy.

The DRM Conundrum

My concern is for the future. What if NWS ceases to exist? This software is tied to one machine and is now non-transferable. Instead of DRM free or even on Steam, I have to deal with a generic GoDaddy webstore tied into some sort of manual key generation. These are all problems that have been solved, NWS attempting to go it alone is just odd.

I’ve seen enough games where the servers go dead, the phone-home mechanic dies, or someone just screws up, and I’m stuck with a dead game. The potential for that occurring here is real. This game is viable only as long as someone with an @Yahoo.com email address continues to service it.

I’ve run into numerous bugs, crashes, errors, and general pop ups about floating point difficulties and other such gibberish. The game functions and I’m willing to wait for a patch or two for flawless execution.

Ship design can be frustrating when you try to make a ship and it just tells you it’s an illegal design without telling you exactly why it’s illegal. Same with overseas holdings, you need a certain amount of tonnage on foreign station but the mechanic doesn’t feel fun or engaging.

Even with the oddities, quirks, poor UI, and downright strange design choices, the game is fun. It’s an enjoyable romp in a whole new genre of game. NWS has laid groundwork in a particularly new and unique way that I hope others capitalize on. Rule the Tanks? Rule the Jets? Rule the Rockets?

The game could benefit from a simulator/auto-resolve in the vein of what TortugaPower made. Sometimes I don’t want to fight another cruiser battle.

It’s just waiting for a ridiculous mod of crazy tech like dual hull catamaran battleships with a carrier deck on top. Airships with guided missiles. Look at the crazy stuff you can make in Aurora 4X, but do it here. There’s so much potential, but I only see the game moving ahead in the current vein. I’m not sure NWS has the resources to create a title much beyond this one.

All in all, it’s worth the money. It lacks the quaint focus of the previous title and the expanded scope brings problems. A patch or two will hopefully subdue the nasty bugs and smooth out the gameplay. If you’re into the era definitely give it a go.

Spend Quality Time Off at the Breakout Edmonton West Escape Room

Edmonton, Alberta – Breakout Edmonton Escape Room provides people a unique and fun way to interact with others. Established in 2014, they offer anyone an alternative way to spend their free time, challenging anyone to put their wits and persistence to good use and employ the proper teamwork to win the game. The Real Life Escape Game is located at both the East and West side of Edmonton. People can visit their Breakout Edmonton West – Escape room where four escape rooms are available for use.

A lot of people have taken up the challenge, and most have cherished the experience. That includes one customer who treasured the time off. “I think the escape room was well done and it was an enjoyable experience.”

Edmonton Escape Rooms – Breakout is one of the best ways to enjoy free time in the digital age. Players are given 60-minutes to complete each of the nine uniquely designed theme rooms. The first thing that a player needs to do is select a room and collaborate with a team. Each room is designed to house a certain number of players; each tasked to band their wits together to solve a series of puzzles to escape the room within a specified time limit.
