i'm gonna go dc themed for this one (when it applies) thanks for the ask archie!!

also, as a disclaimer, it's stuff i personally dislike for whatever reason. i've filtered tags and blocked the majority of people who say/talk about these things, but occasionally posts do escape through my filters bc a lot of the shit i'm annoyed by with DC are SUPER common among the fandom (which is partially why im annoyed)

the character everyone gets wrong

BATMAN. god. not even the actual writers can write a batman i can tolerate. there are like. maybe five(?) fanfic authors whose batman takes i actually enjoy? the others are so hit or miss. i barely even browse the tags anymore it's too much emotional effort to filter through the fics that are left even if i use stringent filters

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

that clark/bruce can't have a dad bod or be pudgy or be fat. like there are SO many artists who draw them in these ways, and also? Strength isn't defined by how dehydrated you are when you flex? you need fat to pad out the muscles, or else you're going to REALLY hurt after working out so much. yes, even clark. besides, the soft look is sweet. i like it a lot. i know i draw them a bit more on the 'hunk' side, but i will defend the dad bod/chubby/fat bruce and clark truthers to my death

10. worst part of fanon

the sheer number of people who try to heteronormify a literal gay pairing

no actually it's two things: clark being nothing more than an idiot (he's allowed his himbo moments but he's also very competent!!) and bruce being... abusive? verbally or physically?? there's like two sides of fanon bruce that i strongly hate: the bordering on abusive bruces and the bruces who are aggressively baby-ified. both are. not fun. a certain amount of pathetic is fine in a man, whatever, i love rene and he's a super pathetic man, but there's like there's a point when it stops being 'ah yeah just a sad little man' and starts being 'the author is REALLY piling shit onto him and putting ALL the responsibility on the other character to fix him'.

11. number of fandom-related words you've filtered

ok depends on fandom but for DC? like. four? i think. no wait five, although the fifth is like sometimes hit or miss bc there ARE a lot of major character deaths (and undeaths) in canon and like i don't really care as long as it's not permanent?

but i filter a/b/o (and related tags), mpreg, incest, and rape. all are self explanatory, but just filtering the first two ALONE absolutely guts the fic count and i stare at the fic counter the way you might watch a horror protagonist just barely get away from the killer without realizing it. am i saying the fandom has rank-ass taste? yes. actually. who knew so many people had a kink for bioessentialism?

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

in THIS big of a fandom i feel like there isn't a lot that people ignore? like there's something for everybody, and i mean everybody. although i do feel like a disproportionate number of people prefer batman and the batfam over superman and the superfam and im really sad about that bc people automatically write them off as 'good is boring', and the canon writers often do the same. which like. guys. cmon. it's not 'boring' to put your entire (superpowered) might into uprooting the deeply entrenched weeds of oppressive systems in the world and looking forward to a brighter future. that's why we fight?? isn't it? so we can have a better tomorrow??? superman isn't boring at all, happiness and hope isn't boring. hope and happiness find meaning in knowing that they are not the default, that we have to work hard and struggle for it!! anyways. i do follow some people who talk about this so it's not entirely ignored, but like in the wider ship spaces i do NOT see enough people talking about this specific element of superman. i think they all just think he's hot. which i agree with. but i ALSO think he's cool and interesting and more than just his appearance.

Alright everybody today we're losing it over 3 things:

Pastel Jughead

Jughead & his many lady friends

SO HERE'S THE THING- IM CRYING, JUST, - JUG. JUG ALWAYS WANTING TO WEAR PRETTY PASTEL THINGS BUT HE COULD NEVER BC IT WOULD MAKE FP LOOK BAD, THEN BC he doesn't want to put a burden on fp. From a painfully young age, he knew they weren't well off, so yes, hand me downs would suffice, no worries.

There's also that lingering, possessive fear digging through his hopes, that maybe it won't matter, that people won't care, but-

but then he remembers Kevin getting slammed for wearing lip gloss on the playground, or how Archie stopped writing his songs with glitter pens after some douchebag made fun of him.

Or how Jason loved playing dolls and match dresses with Cheryl until he was stopped. And he's just- there's gentle advisory to hide all of that, and so he does?

But then they grow up, and Riverdale, at least in some places, does too. So when Betty kindly offers him some clothes to try on, offers to teach him how to do make up, Val, Polly and Veronica fast on call, having their little fashion shows, it felt... free.

SO, ns jug and ss sweet pea who met through fangs, whom jug found battered up behind the movie theater and took him home to patch up, and it was infatuation at first sight.

Sweet Pea is bold and confident and makes gold feel lesser and he loves the blush preening, bashful but fervid across Jug's face, illuminating the freckles he's found himself counting more than once, and he says he'd like to see it more often.

So Friday. Jug better be ready.

And so - so Jug IS, invites Sweet Pea to his room until he goes to tame his brother Archie, his sister Cheryl (bc in a perfect world Fred adopted Cheryl ok don't tale that from me) and Papa, " protective cave people. You know."

And sweet pea just watches him, a ball of indigant fluffy bed hair, hopping down the stairs.

" You can't ruin this for me! This guy is so sweet and smart and cool, why aren't we talking about Archie's unrelenting habbit of bringing a new girl over every week. I don't want to shame anyone but its really mean I'm the only one targeted!" And he snorts.

This dork will make such a good boyfriend, yes, he can already see it, boyfriend to husband to maybe possibly father of his children.

But he's not thinking too fast. No.

It's just- Jug is a good boy, starry eyed bright, sea water calming and tranquil, makes you want to drown, and sweet pea would. He doesn't know how something that pure goes hand in hand with all the dark he's wearing. A dark he doesn't even enjoy, by the look on his face.

But then. Then sweet pea sees. Pretty pink clothes, shirts and sweaters and skirts, pastel everything, some on the bed, some on the bean bag, and his insides freeze over. They look awfully close in resemblance with the other ball of pastel, sunlight forrest green that creep him out. And Sweet Pea assumes the worst.

Just- Jug coming back, excited, saying that he actually convinced Fred to let him ride on a motorcycle, but sees the dark on sweet pea 's face, watches fingers casually tear his pretty fabrics apart, then fling it at jug and jug- he's he's so upset, water pooling around his eyes, " w- why?"

" why? Cause you're fucking disgusting. THIS is disgusting," gesturing to the mess and rags of Jug's precious things, sliced by a talented blade, precise, masterful, gleeful. " God, I'm so glad I didn't let you touch me. You've got to be one of the sickest fuckers I've ever met. WHY would you bring me here, knowing I'd find out?"

Lips trembling, shaking like fluttering petals blew by wind, Jug, shame eaten, mortification boiling him from the inside out, " I- I didn't think you'd- you'd care."

There's betrayel, soft but noticeable, because he TRUSTED sweet pea, trusted Fangs' promises of their youthful viewpoints, how they're progressive even with their slightly traditional tracks.

Sweet Pea, floored, scoffs, like Jug is spewing some of the most offensive words he's heard in a lifetime, and shakes his head. " Northsiders are something else. Crazy fuckers, the lot of you. Dont look for me, or that pretty face of yours won't stay pretty for long"

He carries that bravado with him out the door, but as soon as he reaches his truck, Sweet Pea cries, you know he does, because there goes his heart, broke open by another northsider with too much time on their hands and not enough life in their hearts.

Meanwhile, Jug is cleaning his room, sobbing quietly, because the boy he likes hates his pretty clothes and thinks Jug is disgusting.

there's nothing Cheryl does better than revenge.

She watches Jug, shoulder to shoulder with a paired of concerned amber eyes, angry, wrathful, as her baby brother gently packs the clothes into a bag, shoulders trembling as if he's carrying so much weight on them Atlas would bow.

Watches him, head down, little trash bag filled with the same things that nerd was so bright eyed with excitement at just a few months ago, and knocks on Betty's door.

He apologizes, Cheryl knows, because of the loving, fond crease between Betty's brow, when Jug would apologize for seemingly nothing and shed say "why"? With her face alone.

She spots the blankness taking over as she opens that bag, slowly, eyes not changing once her and Cheryl lock eyes.

" Fetch my phone, Archie. This is a Code Red."

So here Jug is, under his fluffy blankets, cuddlin and hugging FP's serpent jacket, hoping a gentle hand would materialize out of thin air and brush through his tangle of curls.

When suddenly, it's yanked, and he makes a sad sound of dejection, upset because he wants to SNUGGLE and forget that he's but a mere goldfish in this bitch of a world but surprise surprise, lady friends.

Lady friends holding hair brushes and cosmetics, clothes of all kinds, all comforting, mischievous storms.

Jug whines, low in his throat, uses the leathers as shield. The bed shifts under multiple weights, but he can recognize them all- the soft, private gentleness Cheryl secures only for him, now more tender than ever through his curls.

Betty's ginger squeezes around his thigh, Val, feline agility, perfect grace snuggling around him.

Ethel's timid but strong pat on his shoulder, accompanied by Ronnie's playful tickle to his sides, sending him in a shriek that he needed. They're all there, all pieces of his heart that he'll never forget. " wh- what are we doing?"

" Revenge, dear hobo. Revenge. You know the best way to get it?"

" ...Success?"

" yes. And the best way to kill?" When he doesn't responded, Cheryl's eyes thunder. " Beauty."

Okay so we all know who your top ships are... who are your unpopular ships? Or obscure ships? What characters from what series do you think about often in either good or bad ways? Who is a character that you hate that others love? If you could rewrite a story or part of a book, what would it be and what would you do differently?

Ok I am digging through my brain right now bc if I’m not able to hyperfixate on something then I tend to forget I even liked it. Ok buckle in bc this is gonna be long af. YOU ASKED FOR THIS, REG.

I’m putting a readmore so as not to torture my followers lol

Thinking about Veronica Mars. About Veronica/Logan. Do they have a ship name?? But I love that show and i was THERE for them. They were kind of a surprise ship for me, in that when they got together I was like, wait, WHAT? Like I was totally caught off guard. But there first kiss is, like, sooo romantic to me haha. It’s my fave scene in the show. But Logan is suck a prick sometimes. And they break up like every five minutes. And every season Logan gets accused of murder which of course he ends up not being the murderer. And they get back together eventually and I’m like really? But deep down I am rooting for them lol. I really enjoyed the new season of Veronica Mars that came out last year, actually. The ending made me SO SAD THO.

I also used to watch Supergirl and I thought Kara and Mon-El were adorable. He was very Carswell Thorne-esque, RH, I *think* you would like him. I never watched past season 3(?) though, and he shoots off into space and I never caught up so a few months ago I actually googled what happens and [spoiler] he ends up marrying someone else in the future or something so I was like, ok I’m not investing any more time in this show lol. (Also I had to google Mon-El’s name just now bc i forgot which is a bad look BUT I WAS REALLY RIDE OR DIE FOR THEM FOR A WHILE lol). Also I loved Martian Manhunter in this show, he was my favorite character. But the CGI for him was awful, omg. He had practical makeup at first, they should have just stuck with that.

Speaking of Martian Manhunter, I also used to watch Young Justice and loved Miss Martian/Superboy. Am I basic??? lol oop. But I love basic love stories. Anyway, I thought they were super cute. In season 3 though they’re kind of on the rocks. I haven’t watched season 4. I also loved Artemis/Wally West, but of course that had to end tragically.

Also, let’s talk about Nightcrawler. Allow me to set the scene. Little Kat is 13 and just rediscovered the cartoon she saw a few times as a kid called X-Men: Evolution. And thus, a weird obsession with the German, blue demon boy began. I loved Kurt Wagner. In the cartoon he starts a relationship with Amanda Sefton and I thought they were a-dor-a-ble. She accepted him for who he was, and they had a really nice healthy relationship. A lot of ppl shipped him with Kitty too which i am honestly all for idec I JUST WANT THE BLUE BOI TO BE HAPPY.

Can we talk about A:TLA too??? Like, obviously Zutara, amiright? Power couple. Like, Kataang is.. fine, but its probably my least favorite part about the ending, haha. Also, consider: Tokka. Toph is bae and can get anyone she wants, and she clearly had kind of a crush on Sokka and I think they could have been awesome. It actually kills me that they never say who Lin and Suyin’s father is in LoK. I had a whole theory that it was that kid The Duke from Jet’s band based on like 2 scenes from the series. There’s a tumblr post I made about it somewhere in the ether lol.

I also just remembered Tahnorra (Tahno/Korra) from Legend of Korra. It’s hard for me to explain this one. It’s a weird combination of being hyperfixated on the first season of the show when it came out, and I think I stumbled upon some fic or something???? And I thought Tahno was hot or something??? And FUN FACT, he was voice by Rami Malek BEFORE HE WAS COOL. So like before Rami really got big I knew who he was. He also basically played the Avatar in Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 and I thought that connection was hilarious. It was kind of a problematic crack pairing but there was one author in particular whom i follow to this day hoping she’ll update her Tahnorra fics…. *sigh*

Okay one last ship…. I used to be ride or die for Outlaw Queen in Once Upon a Time (aka Regina/Robin Hood). Like, before TLC, I had a personal tumblr renaissance for that ship alone. My only existing published fanfic is for that ship. Taylor Swift’s 1989 came out that year and I related every dang song to that ship. I loved Regina so much and I just wanted her to be happy. That show is a dumpster fire, though, and spat all over my hopes and dreams. *sigh*

Also, lightning round for obscure pairings I ship and/or never talk about:

Frank Castle/Karen Page (The Punisher) ok this one isnt that obscure but I never talk about it… but the pining, oh god the pining

Jaime Lannister/Brienne of Tarth (GoT) THEIR 5 SECONDS TOGETHER ARE THE ONLY WORTHY PART OF SEASON 8. everything after that never happened

I already listed Roy Mustang/Riza Hawkeye (FMAB) as a top pairing previously but I feel the need to mention it again bc it was for real my OG OTP… LIKE U WANNA TALK ABOUT PINING…. *sobs*

Percy/Annabeth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) This used to be my fave book series and i loved how their relationship developed over the course of the books

Neville Longbottom/Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) ok can we TALK ABOUT THIS??? They were both badass misfits and they were perfect for each other. But noooo JKR has to announce they marry some nobodies…. this is the only change the last movie did right

Midna/Link (Zelda: Twilight Princess) I honestly have no explanation for this lol

Qui-gon Jinn and Shmi (Star Wars) CAN U IMAGINE if anakin had a proper father figure and didnt have to abandon his mother to slavery

Obi-wan/Satine…. (Star Wars: The clone Wars) we know whats up

OK, to answer some of your other questions: character I hate that others love. HMMMM…….

This one seems too easy/obvious but Professor Snape? Like obviously there’s already a ton of discourse surrounding this but he was gross, mistreated his students for years, committed atrocities, couldn’t get over his high school crush, and we’re supposed to believe he’s a hero in the end and HARRY WOULD NAME HIS SON AFTER HIM….. uh no. “Always” is gross.

I’ve literally been wracking my brain for days and I can’t think of any more characters for this. OK I did some googling and I remembered some LOL.

Ross from friends…. I literally can’t stand him. He’s so entitled and just the worst. He tries to act like he’s the nice, sensitive guy, but really he is so full of himself. Joey on the other hand is portrayed as a womanizer but is actually super sweet and I love him

Archie from Riverdale… I have only seen the first 1.5 seasons ish but he is the worst…. we’re supposed to believe he’s some easygoing musically gifted football player but instead he manages to pull off being bland as heck and actually kind of a terrible garbage person

Nick from chilling adventures of Sabrina. I hate characters that are like hitting on the main character even though she has a bf and are like dark and broody and sexy blah blah blah…. I liked Harvey way better. I never finished season 2 tho

Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time? Idk she was fine she just got old after a while

If you could rewrite a story or part of a book, what would it be and what would you do differently?

HM. First, Harry would name his son Remus Rebeus Potter LOL. Ok but real talk there was a headcanon floating around forever ago that Harry should have become a professor at Hogwarts instead of an auror and I am 100% on board

Ok, ok….. what abouuuttt…… OK, is star wars when Han and Leia get together. I like them as a couple, but the entire first half of the movie Han is being such an ass. And when they kiss the first time, he’s being SOOO creepy. It’s like so quintessentially 80s romance. and HERE’S THE THING. They actually filmed (or maybe just wrote?) a version of that scene that WASNT CREEPY. And i’m like WHY DIDNT YOU USE THAT?!? So I like to pretend that’s the version that actually happened.

This part is way harder than the shipping portion. If I think of anything else i’l dm you. I HOPE YOU ENJOY READING THIS NOVEL LENGTH POST OF ME RAMBLING ABOUT MY FIXATIONS OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS. If anyone actually read this far, you deserve a cup of hot chocolate and a blanket

(i’m gonna put this under a read more bc it got way longer than i intended it too and you didn’t even ask for descriptions i’m just incapable of being concise ever sorry! i bolded the titles so you don’t have to read it all)

okay so it depends what characters you care about, bc my answers would be different based on who your faves are, so these are my faves to rewatch (but will probs be super biased towards my fave characters)! obvs i’m not saying watch all of them (unless you want to) but i’ve included reasons why i like them so you can decide based on what you enjoy.

holby (i’ve only watched from s16 with a little of s15 and s6 so it’s gonna start there):

intuition (16x11)- dom’s first episode back after his guest stint, and adele’s first ep! this is the first episode i watched when i started watching holby properly bc i was impatient and wanted to get to the dom scenes so i haven’t watched most of the s16 episodes before it but i would probably say watch 16x10 as well bc that’s when jac gives birth and this ep has a lot of scenes about her and emma.

prince among men (16x16)- raf’s first ep in which he’s v v iconic and also i love dom, zosia and arthur and frustrated mentor sacha and there’s that woman who’s like in love with a mummy until she finds out it was a female mummy. also jac and emma!!

one small step (16x42)- again i LOVE the keller trio, this is the first ep where they really bond even if it’s over a super traumatic experience w zosia. and connie crosses over for the first time since she joined casualty, which i rlly liked.

star of wonder (17x10)- a really important episode for zosia’s character and her bipolar sl! also i like christmas episodes

the ides of march (17x32)- another big ep for zosia and the one where she decides to move to darwin

beautiful (17x45)- dom taking a level students on a tour of the hospital and bonding w one of them and quoting that christina aguilera song... i love him

at first i was afraid (17x50)- dom and arthur roadtrip! the karaoke scene! frieda as a patient! elliot’s exit ft some really nice scenes w him and jac!

left behind (18x05)- i just really like all three storylines, i’ve rewatched the mo and wiliam sl a few times just bc i like mo and this ep is the last one of that sl and it’s my fave of them, and you can watch it as a standalone if you already know what’s happened in the eps beforehand.

blue christmas (18x11)- the only one i’ve seen where jac’s past is rlly talked about bc it’s the one where fran reveals they know each other. apart from that it is just a nice christmas ep and i really like all the other storylines going on.

young hearts, run free (18x13)- the ep where dom arthur and morven have to do some scavenger hunt thing in the woods!! and dom has a chicken called henriketta!! that’s reason enough to watch it 500 times tbh

one under (18x21)- for some reason arthur’s patient sl haunts me, but i think it is a rlly good (but sad) ep for arthur as he comes to terms with his cancer test

it tolls for thee (18x31)- arthur and morven’s wedding and i love them

i’ll walk you home (18x35)- arthur’s last ep (as not a figment of someone’s imagination) and it’s devastating but the episode is so so well done and i watch it whenever i need to cry

another day in paradise, parts one and two (18x38 and 18x39)- i just really like all the different storylines in these eps, the patient sl is like. wild and there’s focus on jac being a mother and dom’s grief and sacha and essie i just rlly like them

protect and serve (18x47)- this is the one after the helicopter crash in casualty so i always watch it after watching that one. it’s a good episode that focuses more on the characters than the storylines and i love the crossovers too.

i do, i do, i do (19x13)- an episode in which a main character’s daughter dies has absolutely no right being as funny as this, but the derwood/inga wedding is so so funny and also rlly sweet at the end and the contrast with the elinor storyline is wild (and also something i wish holby would do more often bc recently they’ve done like three depressing storylines in one ep)

the hard way home (19x35)- tbh the main reason i’ve rewatched this ep so much is for dofty which obvs i don’t care about anymore, but it’s also a really good ep just for dom w his steroid addiction and the anniversary of arthur’s death. and it’s damon’s first ep and i miss him

group animal, parts one and two (19x61 and 19x62)- the shooting eps which i also watch when i wanna feel sad, but also they are just really good episodes in general

also the last two eps of s19 after the shooting bc i’m incapable of not watching the aftermath

i haven’t rewatched any s20 or s21 eps except when giffing so i can’t rlly recommend any there

casualty (for some of these just pretend that lofty never existed on holby and his character was never destroyed):

next of kin, parts one and two (26x15 and 26x16)- the second ep is more exciting but you need the first one for context, it’s just classic high stakes drama, the entire ed was on fire bc they stopped filming in bristol so they were like yeah let’s completely destroy the set! and it’s ruth and jay’s last episodes.

duty of care (26x17)- also high stakes drama, tom’s first episode and the first ep filmed in cardiff. there’s a poisonous gas leak AND an explosion.

love is (26x23)- danny dyer did more acting in this one (1) episode than he has his entire career on eastenders i swear. i didn’t expect to get so emo about it.

the ‘ricochet’ eps (26x25, 26x26, 26x27)- casualty didn’t hold back with these eps. they’re v good eps (s26 has some of casualty’s best episodes imo) but a LOT about gang violence and a trigger warning for rape in the second one.

zero sum game (26x39)- fletch’s first episode! i mainly like it bc of that but it’s also fun to see how much lloyd hates him at first.

the #holbyriot eps (26x41 and 26x42)- definitely some of the most tense episodes casualty’s ever done, back when they cared about social issues like police brutality.

rabbits in headlights (27x17)- the first episode for robyn, jamie and aoife (and ally but she leaves the next ep). i love seeing how far robyn in particular has come, and i loved jamie and aoife as well and seeing them as tiny dumbass students is fun.

unsilenced (27x31)- the fgm storyline, again when casualty used to care about social issues. it’s really well-written, i think.

once there was a way home, parts one and two (28x01 and 28x02)- this is ramin’s first appearance and i love him and jamie and the way jamie basically risked his entire job to help him. the first one is also rita’s first ep!

carrot not stick (28x35)- this one has a patient from 28x33 in, but you don’t need to have rewatched that one to get the gist. lofty and dixie take said patient to visit his dying mother and they go to the beach. they sing dolly parton. lofty steals a puppy. it’s just a really nice episode imo

born lucky (29x05)- this is a sad one, but i really like the relationships between the staff in this one, and i think it was a good final episode for jeff.

entrenched (29x09)- casualty said football fans don’t deserve rights and also lofty makes some points about the futility of war. michael spence is in this episode!

deadfall (29x10), the road not taken (29x26), holby sin city (29x39)- i’m grouping these together bc they’re all the ‘holby noir’ standalone episodes and if you wanna watch one ep and not have to worry about the long running storylines, they work. they’re also completely insane and v fun imo. the road not taken is my fave.

a child’s heart, parts one and two (30x01 and 30x02)- i’m not a fan of it focusing so much on charlie’s life story, but i love episodes just after a crisis and especially when one of the team is in danger bc you really see how much the staff all care about each other. these eps also have the start of louise’s storyline where she switches from a receptionist to a nurse.

high tide (30x27)- lofty’s last episode, jez’s first, and it’s also a really good episode for cal and ethan. and although i don’t really care about any of them except jez anymore, i still think this is a good episode to rewatch just to see like. them as characters.

too old for this shift (31x01)- this is the feature length episode so like. it might not be ideal to rewatch but again it’s the helicopter crash episode, so you really see the staff pull together which i love, and there are appearances from jac and fletch, and video calls from people who have left the show. like i said, it goes with protect and serve on holby so i usually rewatch those together.

mobile (31x27)- i literally just rewatched this episode last night which is why i’m thinking about it, but it’s a really good ep and it’s the one where robyn gives birth and her scenes with david are so well acted. they also link all three stories in some way to mobile phones which i thought was cool.

5 days (31x28)- i love robyn so i really love this episode. there’s a lot of character development imo, from being in denial and optimistic to realising how bad charlotte’s situation is and struggling to cope, to accepting how it is and being there for her as a mother.

one (31x44)- the plot is okay, it’s not something i’d be particularly interested to rewatch apart from the fact it’s filmed in one shot which makes it fun to rewatch.

32x19- max’s last episode and we find out a lot about him! and ofc there’s the zoe and max reunion and i just really like max in this episode.

32x21- bea’s first ep and i love her, also really shows how much a real ed has to cope with and has alicia start the anonymous blog which is v iconic of her.

i haven’t really rewatched any eps that aired after this specifically for one ep (i’ve rewatched every episode jade and marty and archie have been in but i don’t always care about the eps themselves)

what inspired you to take on this muse/these muses : HONESTLY a big factor is knowing my friends write characters who will make interesting dynamics with these muses. but omg i have so many muses and they’re inspired by so many things. sometimes it’s simply wanting a sibling for a character, but often times these ocs are characters i’ve been writing for a long time, or are just repurposed ocs from various eras of my rp’ing.

favorite types of threads : YO! i love all types of threads! i love really long threads where we really dig into the grittiness of our characters (my plots with @fiinalgiirls comes to mind)! oh god after last time i really did think i was done but i must have unlocked some new level of hell because here we go, here we go, lost boys hcs PART 3!!!!

so ummmmm michael... is sort of dumb.

like, ok, specifically??? i think he’s got a higher than average emotional intelligence, but he’s just one of those kids who’s bad at school. there’s some hints of this in the movie: when michael is telling sam that he can’t tell lucy about the vampirism thing, sam’s line is that it’s “not like getting a D in school, mike!”, implying that hiding that kind of thing is something the two of them have been over before, and a deleted subplot has him repeatedly insisting to lucy that he’s going to drop out of school to get a job and help her pay for things.

tbh i think he’s got that classic “child of divorce” thing going on. he feels like a burden on sparse resources and can’t stand the thought of wasting his days in school, where he doesn’t even want to be. he wants to help his mom! he gets a job for he so he can do that! what a good, sweet boy!!!

hmmm. dyslexic michael, anyone? like, i was going to say that he was particularly vexed by math & science, but the more i think about it, the more i’m leaning toward him maybe just being disinterested in those subjects, even though they’re the ones he’s better at, while english and history (but particularly english) really piss him off because studying takes so goddamn long.

so he gets like, C+/B- in math and science, consistent C- in history, and wavers C- to D+ or even lower in english.

he’s so polite to his teachers that they help him when they can though, especially because they know he’s trying so hard, but he’s just not entirely gifted at this sort of stuff.

the worst is when he has to keep his grades up to stay eligible for sports--that pressure just makes everything seem so much worse.

i think michael plays some of everything. he’s like, some kind of guard on the football team, not particularly their star player or anything, but i think he’s also got a starter position on the basketball team, and he is the star pitcher on the baseball team.

physical stuff just comes easier to him than academic stuff, you know?

his high school girlfriend was a cheerleader, but they weren’t that serious. she was a kind of preppy girl, a little vapid, and it felt to michael like they only really dated because they were supposed to. breaking up with her kind of led to michael’s attraction to star; he saw her on the boardwalk and she looked like she dressed for herself and she was outwardly enjoying her time at the concert--plus, you know, she’s really pretty.

he hates to admit it, but michael’s favorite classes in school were the home ec classes that his guidance counselor suggested he take. he took shop first, which was okay, but really, what he liked to do the most was the cooking and sewing shit. when he joins the lost boys, he kind of “takes over” these roles from star (who had been pressured into acting the mother for all these assholes who could be her great grandfathers, easily), and it turns out that he’s a lot better at that stuff than she is.

guess he was always kind of training to be david’s bitch after all.

the guys stop ribbing on him once he shows them how he can fix their clothes and shit, though. goddamn assholes.

michael’s main circle of friends in highschool was made up of other jocks, and like with his girlfriend, they weren’t super close. he often got excluded from stuff because he would insist he couldn’t do something or other on account of his mom needing him home that night, or he would get pissed at them for making fun of sam.

michael said family comes first, fuckers!

he did drink and smoke and shit like that back in phoenix when he knew he wouldn’t be missed at home, though. he’s not a goody two shoes, really, he just didn’t want to make things harder than they were for his mom.

one day he did come home drunk, and he’ll never forget how upset lucy looked. he still doesn’t feel like he’s made that up to her. ouch.

one of the guys michael hung out with, probably the closest michael had to a “best friend” was a dude named declan who he’d known since elementary school. declan as the only one of the jock guys who didn’t really hold it against him when he’d skip out on stuff, and the only one he ever even thought about telling the divorce shit to, although in the end, he chickened out of actually doing it.

like i said, they weren’t best friends or anything, but they could have been, y’know?

one of the less nice dudes in his group (probs one michael got in fights with often) started dating michael’s girlfriend about a week after he moved. michael wasn’t really pissed by the time he found out about that; he had way bigger problems to worry about by then.

there was a guy that michael saw around who was kind of a beatnik loner outcast and almost definitely a fag. he liked shakespeare and oscar wilde and probably drew pretty things in the margins of his notebook, and the guys that michael hung out with trashed on him pretty much constantly. michael himself, however, had kind of a thing for the guy: he thought he was cool and would ask when he could to see what he was working on.

you know how michael acted around star at the very beginning of their association? that’s pretty much how he was around this dude. local bi disaster is bi.

the guy (i was going to say fuck it and name him after the guy who i’m sort of basing him on from peggy sue got married, but guess what my fucking luck is, that dude’s name is michael. jfc. let’s call him charlie) thought michael was just there to make fun of him like the others did, but he eventually, he might have come around to trusting that mike really was just interested in his art.

maybe they made out or something before charlie eventually pushed back against him because he didn’t want to get fucking murdered by michael’s friends for making him queer if they got caught

michael always felt like he should have pushed harder to have some sort of relationship with charlie, but once he moves to santa carla, there’s no use in thinking about it anymore.

unlike michael, sam did have a close circle of friends at school, even though he wasn’t as classically “popular” as his brother.

it was probs this reason that made him take the move a lot harder than his brother did.

sam, also unlike michael, was/is really good at school. he’s super skilled at memorizing dates & facts (just look at him rattle off semi-obscure superman trivia lol), and pretty talented at writing to boot. he doesn’t like math as much, but if he works at it, it comes to him pretty quickly.

gifted kid perks™

being that everything came easy to sam, and that he didn’t do any sports like michael did, he had a lot of downtime to read books and comics, keep up w/ pop culture, and hang out with his nerdy friends who liked to do the same. he was even in a d&d group

his character was an elf rogue.

it’s about gay rights

re: sports, it’s not that sam couldn’t be athletic, just that he didn’t ever really want to be. he used to do little league to be like michael and as a concession to his father, but really, he was always put in the outfield, and at the end of the day he would just rather read or watch tv than stand out in the hot sun playing this game he didn’t care about.

when they were little, michael trained himself to get better at reading so that he could read stuff to sam when their parents were fighting or their mom was away. he remembered how his parents (in better times) had read to him, and he knew it made sam feel better, so he put aside his difficulties and discomfort to read to his brother before bed.

the easiest things to read for him were comic books (he had some batmans and supermans and even a few wonder womans, although it wasn’t all superhero stuff. he also had richie rich and, of course, archies), which kind of sparked sam’s love for them--they were something he shared with his brother. <3

i’m thinking sam’s nerd club was the prototypical “mostly boys who never talked to a girl in their lives” type thing, but at the same time i’d like to imagine that at least one of them had a pretty brash (and nerdy) sister who pushed her way into the club, winning their respect by doing what sam did to frog brothers, only with star wars lore.

also, i’m kind of picturing a shy girl from their school who sam takes under his wing when she’s getting bullied, only to find out that she’s really into that stuff too.

she’s part of their d&d campaign; she plays a badass orc barbarian woman and consistently has the best luck with the dice.

the girl is almost definitely a lesbian, but sam asks her to homecoming and stuff like that so that they’ll both have dates; they’re basically each other’s beards.

Gay Rights.

one of the only ways michael could ever really relate to his dad was when they played baseball and the dad taught him Sports™ things, so sam not being at all interested in that stuff made him kind of a disappointment. even still (or maybe for that reason), michael was always the mama’s boy, while sam spent a long time desperate for his dad’s approval.

maybe bc michael and lucy tried really hard to protect him from just how shitty their dad really was, to be honest.

speaking of michael and sam’s dad, i’ve been doing a lot of thinking about him, and now i’ve got Opinions.

contrary to what i guess is the general fandom consensus (at least from what i’ve seen? but my scope might not be that big regarding this character, so if i’m wrong, i’m wrong lol) regarding the dad, i can’t see him being particularly abusive physically.

however, given how sweet and agreeable lucy is, i get a sense that there must have been something REALLY insurmountable in their relationship to make her decide that divorce was the only option. the way i see it, michael and sam’s father started as one of those anti-establishment punks who eventually grew up and just... snapped back the other way entirely to end up as the establishment himself.

main justification for this is that scene w/ michael and star; he doesn’t just refer to his mother being an ex-hippie, he refers to his folks. plus, i mean, there must have been something about the man that endeared him to lucy, right?

so, over the course of their marriage, the guy goes from being a radical dreamer type with maybe some kind punk rock aspirations to being like.... reagan’s “moral majority.”

he starts totally stomping down his old dreams and, in the process, mocking lucy for holding onto anything from their past (you know how she told sam part of the reason she divorced him was that “he never believed in the closet monster”? that was a symptom tbh). i imagine that this, in itself, was soul crushing, but what was really the last straw was when he started in on michael and sam: getting mad and telling michael that he wasn’t going to make it in the MLB and that he had to get his shitty grades up if he wanted to amount to anything (only making him hate school even more lbr), and openly disliking sam’s rejection of sports and stuff in favor of his comic books and MTV.

before the end, i think michael got in a lot of fights with his dad when he’d make passive-aggressive comments at sam for not being enough of a man.

who made you the fucking authority on that, huh?

if he was ever actually physically violent with anyone, it was probably michael during these fights, or mayyyybe even lucy when she’d step in.

eventually, something just tips lucy’s goddamn scales, and she snaps and goes out right then and there to file for divorce. they never saw the point in signing a prenup or anything back then, y’know, so without really fighting for it, lucy wasn’t going to get anything in the divorce.

she doesn’t. they leave arizona with just about the clothes on their backs.

if anyone actually fought against the divorce proceedings, honestly i think it was the dad. he had this idea of his respectable nuclear family, and, even though he was basically an emotionally neglectful POS to his sons, he hated the idea of his wallstreet suit-type coworkers coming to know that his home life was anything less than perfect.

as a last ditch effort, he probably tried to win lucy back at the very last minute, even twisting her arm in an attempt to get her to stay for the boys’ sake, but he clearly no longer knows what attracted her to him in the first place, and the “effort” just makes her sad.

in her mind, she’s already gone by then, you know?

finally, he just ives up and signs the divorce papers. for a hot second it really fucks him up; he goes in to work unshaven and haggard, he’s back to eating like a bachelor, his heart isn’t in what he’s doing. this isn’t about grief over losing his family, though, is the shitty thing. not really. instead, he’s just dealing with uncertainty over how to remake his image.

unfortunately, that’s about as much karma as their dad gets. by the time lucy, sam, and michael are gone for good, he finds it’s easiest to just pretend that they never happened. lucy didn’t demand it, but he sends the occasional bare bones childcare check in the mail and feels like he’s the goddamn father of the year or something, and meanwhile, he remarries a woman that’s both younger and more conservative than lucy, sooner or later fathering a son with her.

lucy isn’t cruel; she doesn’t want the boys to be totally cut off from their father, and even though they both pretty clearly sided with her in the divorce she offers him visitation rights and partial custody (saying that they could stay with him at least every summer and for whatever other holidays he wanted), but he mostly rejects this.

when the boys try to call him to ask, he gives them a noncommittal answer about them maybe visiting next summer, after they’ve all gotten settled in.

they pretty much stop calling after that.

remember how i said michael has an above-average emotional intelligence? he’s definitely the one who helps lucy through the divorce the most. he picks up on the signals she sends about when she needs help and when she needs space, and chides sam for pushing her too hard every now and then.

sam, on the other hand, is definitely a good kid who cares about his mom a lot, but he’s a little more selfish and has a harder time acting like he’s got no problem leaving phoenix for her. the only real fights the two of them get into before all the vampire mess are centered around sam not being sympathetic enough to lucy and michael getting onto him for it.

i think that their dad might end up being a much better father and husband for his new family, and when the eventually visit him long enough to realize this, michael and sam... aren’t sure what to think.

like, they’re glad he’s not repeating the same mistakes he made before, but it’s not fair, is it? to see your little half-brother get the father you always wanted but never got.

their new stepmom is a sweet lady, though. she really does want to try and welcome sam and michael into the family. sam, michael, and their dad all try, but in the end they find it uncomfortable, and the boys know it’s just a facade on all sides to make her happy.

everyone is a little bit relieved when the boys just give up and go back to santa carla.

when michael meets the lost boys (& subsequently learns about dwayne’s past with jasper and, you know, the total boner david has for him, and oh yeah, the fact that these guys are kind of universally gay asf), his only experience with gay shit had been his closeted fumbling with charlie and like, negative stereotypes from media, so he’s kind of amazed by these totally queer dudes who just... take no shit.

like, he gets challenged to a motorcycle race and their leader doesn’t back down at all from the fight michael tries to incite, they take him back to drink and hang out in a semi-nasty man cave. these dudes aren’t what he expects from fags at all (they’re not sissies, and that’s kind of the end of his knowledge about the gay community at that time lol), and he just doesn’t... know what to think about them.

he kind of wants to be them.

like, you know how immediately after seeing them for the first time, michael buys himself a leather jacket and goes to get his ear pierced? there’s a reason for that, babes!

in other news, michael is a cancer and there’s nothing y’all can do about it.

i mean, i have Evidence behind my theory but also i’m just right.

but like, going back to that scene with michael and star again, when he’s introducing himself, you know how he tells her that he was nearly named moonbeam or moonchild or something like that? well, another name for cancers that i’ve seen is moonchildren, after the way cancer is ruled by the moon (and bc the term “cancer” itself has some... other connotations).

he broke up with ronnie via the notion that he needs to step back as far away as possible from the lodges. he still loves / cares about her so much & wants to support her / be friends, but it’s a scary time for him. he needs to disaffiliate w lodge industries, & get back to his roots ! he’ll focus on being her friend, & honestly, that’s what they both need right now.

speaking of roots, archie has been spending A LOT of time w betty ! they’re next door neighbors / best friends, so naturally, he’s going to her with a lot of his fears. when he can’t sleep at night ??? he calls her. when he's tryin not to be alone ??? he calls her. various other issues ?? u guessed it. all her. she’s become his literal girl friday, & it’s inevitably making him think about her a ton ?? while he’s at it, he’s been pondering their kiss, & is allowing himself to recognize the immense feelings he’s had for her. even tho he KNOWS he’ll never be good enough for her, he’s finally willing to let himself try to be. he doesn’t want to hurt her again, though, so he’ll walk on egg shells until she’s ready !

miscellaneous fun facts / late night musings

obviously he’s primarily riverdale based, but as an avid reader of the comics, i’m inclined to throw some of his personality from those in as well ! this means arch is ? i guess more so in touch w his emotions ? like,,, he is in the show, but in the comics it’s just. deeper. i dunno. he’s an emotional lil boy. fav comic moment is when he tried to call himself an albatross but accidentally said albacore. tragic. :(

there’s no single, widely accepted star sign for him, so i’ve decided to make my archie a pisces ! seeing as i myself am one & a lot of the charas i draw inspo from are ( ie. ron weasley ), i only feel like it’s fitting. defense: arch is extremely sensitive / emotional. he has a huge heart, he’s the ~creative~ type, he’s idealistic, loyal, patient, genuine & hella romantic. & finally ?? the 1985 birthday issue for archie states that his birthday’s is in march !

in his earlier high school days i think he focuses his relationships a lot on lust rather than love ( grundy, val & even ronnie to an extent ). he’s v quick to say i love you & a lot of his relationships are v sexually based. i think as he grows up tho he’s kinda realizing the importance of like ? love > lust. this does not in the slightest invalidate his relationships ( besides grundy bc that shit is fucked up. he was so manipulated & it was mentally awful for him. gross. ), i think it’s just the fine line of Who He Was vs Who He’s Becoming. maturity at it’s finest, my dudes.

archie andrews is an INCREDIBLY physical guy !! meaning he’s gonna hold your hand, put an arm around you, hug you, etc ... it’s just a show of him caring !

while post arrest has him scared & trying to back off everything ... it’s only a matter of time before arch starts plotting to take down hiram with the rest of the gang. he just ... needs some time. betty needs time. veronica needs time. & jug ? he’s kinda got his hands full w the serpents, so ... we’ll table that, for now ! ( aka: i’ll explore this more when we finally get a hiram !! )

Not Wrong Just Different

Request: “Hello! 💜 could you possibly do a jughead x Reader where he comforts his girlfriend when she feels insecure about being asexual? Maybe the others are talking about their own relationships and what they do, and she gets worried jug will get mad or leave bc shes ace? Thank you 💜 I've been feeling a bit uncomfortable being ace myself lately :/ 💜💜” - anon Pairing: Jughead / Reader Word Count: 2,942 Warnings: some sex talk, and a lot of crying (sorry, i’m a cancer and i projected)

You sat in a booth at Pop’s with your friends, having significantly less fun than usual. The night was meant to be a sort of triple date. Archie and Betty, Veronica and Reggie, and you and Jughead. It had been going well until Reggie left. That’s when Veronica started to talk about how great he was in bed.

“He’s a bit of a ditz, but what he lacks upstairs he makes up for downstairs.” She said coyly. And you laughed, you had a sense of humor and it’s not that you minded a little sex talk. But then it just continued. “What about your Archie?” Veronica winked at Betty who seemed startled. “Are all jocks the same?”

“Oh.” Betty said, a little hesitantly, scanning Archies face. “Well, lets just say music isn’t his only talent.” She joked with a wide smile. Archies eyebrows went up but he didn’t look mad. You tried to smile at this, but no one except Jughead noticed when you didn’t laugh. You bit your lip and pushed around the fries on your plate.

“Well, for being the good girl next door, you sure do some things that are pretty bad.” Archie said, wrapping his arm around Betty tighter, who giggled. And uhg, really? They were just gonna, say this? In public and everything? You rolled your eyes and gazed out the window, trying to ignore the nervousness in your stomach. Jugheads arm creeped up the back of the booth around you. He brought his hand in to rub your shoulder and gave you an, ‘are you okay’ look. You rolled your eyes and shrugged. Veronica was busy ranting in a low voice about what you girls should make your boys do, which distracted everyone for a minute.

“Hey.” Jughead leaned in to you, speaking in a quiet voice. “Do you wanna get out of here?” He asked, despite just being delivered a second round of food. You shook your head at him and smiled.

“No, I’m fine.” You only half lied. “They’ll move on, plus I haven’t even had a milkshake yet.” You tried to joke. Jughead gave a reassuring smile.

“Okay, just so you’re okay.” He said, slowly returning to his burger. And you did really believe that they would move on. They had in the past, but the longer this conversation drew on the more worried you got. You tried to look like you were listening though, laughing along and nodding, trying not to raise suspicion or worse, become a target of a question.

After ten minutes had passed you sort of gave up and were staring at the table while Africa by Toto played in your head. You just stared at the weird pattern while Joseph Williams crooned about rain. Whatever Archie was saying about Betty's hands was drowned out, and you just couldn’t fake interested anymore. In fact it was getting to you. It wasn’t fun and you couldn’t pretend like it was. You looked up at Jughead, about to give him the, ‘let's blow this joint’ signal. But then the waitress came by again. Everyone toned it down as she asked if anyone would like anything else. You all nodded and placed your orders for milkshakes. Jughead got one for you to split, which sweetened the deal of staying in the booth for a little longer. Once the waitress left the conversation stayed relatively PG. You were actually able to partake in the debate of whether strawberry, chocolate or vanilla shakes were best. Maybe this would work out.

“What about, banana?” Asked Veronica, laughing a little. And your hopes were shattered right out of the gate. You rolled your eyes and let out a sigh as the conversation turned back to sex. Maybe you should have made that milkshake to go. It’s not that you didn’t love Jughead, but, you just didn’t think you needed to do those things to prove you loved him. He never complained, and you’d both talked it through and he seemed fine. You still cuddled and kissed him, just, never really anything more. Sure you’d had your own personal qualms with it, but it never really seemed like a big problem until now. Jughead wasn’t really participating in the conversation that much either, but, would he want to be?

Everyone grew quiet when the waitress returned and handed everyone their shakes. You all thanked her and she gave a smile as she walked away. You couldn’t help but sigh in relief as everyone stopped talking for a minute and sipped their shakes. You were hoping the conversation would finally move in a different direction. One that you were interested in and didn’t have to beat yourself up over.

“What about you, (y/n). You’ve been pretty silent this whole time.” Betty broke the silence. “Got any good stories about Jughead?” She asked.

“Uh..” You said, shaking your head a little and trying to think of what to say.

“Yeah.” Archie chimed in. “Does he give good Jug-head?” He asked, and everyone roared with laughter. You had to smile at that but it didn’t make the nervousness go away. You tried to laugh it off and hoped they would understand.

“I mean, I just kinda don’t feel like talking about it.” You shrugged, moving the straw in your shake around.

“Oh.” Veronica cooed. “I’m sure you could spare just one detail about your escapades.” She gave a look and took a drink of her milkshake. It was quiet for a minute and you felt a blush rise on your cheeks as you tried to come up with something. The pressure was choking you.

“Hey guys, can we uh, just talk about something else?” Jughead asked, saving you. “It’s been like 20 minutes, and I’m still trying to eat and everything.” He gestured to his burger and glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. You gave a quick smile and tapped his thigh in thanks.

“Oh come on.” Said Veronica. “And that’s like you’re fifth burger Juggie.” She rolled her eyes.

“Third.” Mumbled Jughead, defensively.

“Whatever.” Betty chimed in, rolling her eyes. “V and I gave some stories, we embarrassed Archie, now it’s your guys turn to fess up. Tell us something.” Betty teased. You and Jughead looked at each other with widening eyes. Neither of you had anything to say. Literally, you’d never done anything, so you had nothing to say. You couldn’t even think of anything to make up.

“They probably do some real kinky stuff.” Veronica broke the silence and your eyes shot to her. She smiled at you playfully, like she didn’t understand the hell you were going through right now. And to be honest you know she didn’t. “It’s okay, I’ll tell you what Reggie lets me do with my fingers if you tell us something.” She wiggled her fingers in the air a little and you looked away.

“Uh.” Jughead vocalized, looking desperately at you but you were looking down at your hands. “Well, we uh. We don’t really do much to be honest. I just, kinda don’t want to talk about it.” He tried to deflect the question and wrapped his arm around you a little more. You felt awful that you and Jughead had no stories to offer.

“What?” Archie chimed in. “Come on guys, just give us something. I mean, you’ve been dating for how long? You have to have at least one interesting story.” Betty and Veronica agreed. All three of them talked over each other a little to prove the point.

“We don’t. We just don’t have any stories.” You said weakly. They all looked at you with various shocked and frustrated expressions.

“Are you? Saying you guys have never fucked?” Archie asked. He sounded like an ass but you knew he didn’t mean it like that. None of them had any idea.

“Knock it off.” Jughead said, glaring at Archie.

“Look, Jug, we’re just curious. We’ve all said something but you guys-” Veronica started but was cut off.

“I just, never get horny and neither does she?” Jughead interrupted, maybe a little too loud. He sighed and in a softer voice added. “You have no idea how much depression fucks up your labito. And with her, I don’t know if it’s depression, and honestly I don’t care. If she doesn’t want to do anything then neither do I, and that’s just fine.” He said, looking at you and rubbing your shoulder. You tried to look at him, but your vision was blurry with the threat of tears.

“Jughead, it’s fine.” You said, voice breaking a little.

“No, I mean, we can-” He offered but you cut him off.

“I said it’s fine.” You pushed past him and out of the booth. You rubbed your eyes as you walked out the door and into the night. You walked past Jugheads car to the end of the parking lot. You stopped when you were standing in grass. There you were far enough out so that you could still see them but you knew they couldn’t see you. You turned and looked over your shoulder into the window where your previous booth was.

Betty and Veronica looked apologetic, both making hand gestures and talking over each other. Archie sat silent, eyes a little wide and slouched back in the booth. Your vision grew misty with tears so it was hard to make out details. You could tell by Jugheads actions as he stood up that he was angry. Then he looked calmer and just shook his head. You could see Veronica and Betty stop talking. Jughead said something as he got out his wallet. He tossed some money on the table and started walking out. You turned back around, facing the road and watching a car go by that muffled the sound of the door opening to Pop’s. Tears were streaming down your face faster than you could wipe them away. You huffed and rubbed your eyes, mourning what little makeup you had on.

“(Y/n).” Jughead called from across the parking lot. You stood still, trying to hold back more tears. “Hey. They said they were really sorry.” He said as he slowly came up to you. You heard his feet scrape on the ground as he inched closer until he was just behind you. “They had no idea, I told them it wasn’t their fault. They said they’d avoid the topic in the future.” He finally shuffled up next to you and gently placed a hand on your shoulder. “They feel awful.” Jughead said softly. You turned to him, tears spilling out of your eyes.

“I’m sorry.” You sobbed. He pulled you into a hug and held you tight. He held you as you shook. He was steady and just slowly rubbed a hand across your back.

“No, I’m sorry.” Jughead spoke under his breath. “I’m sorry for what happened in there, I shouldn’t have let them get that far. And I’m sorry you feel like this. I wish I could help…” He faded off and kissed the top of your head. You let out a shaky sigh as you felt the tears start to slow down.

“You are helping.” You said, leaning back a little to look at him. You could almost see his heart breaking in his eyes as he looked over you. He brought his hands up to your face and dried your cheeks with his sleeves. Then he leaned in and pressed a kiss to your forehead.

“There’s nothing wrong with the way you are, (y/n).” Jughead whispered. You felt tears well up again and he pulled you back into a hug as they spilled over your cheeks.

You leaned against him for a few minutes as you let it out. Jughead held you and patted your back as you sobbed against his chest. Why were you like this. You cried until you caught your breath and then you stood still. When you pulled back you saw how tearstained Jugheads shirt was. You looked up at him to apologize but he just shook his head in a ‘don’t worry about it’ kind of way.

“C’mon.” He rubbed your shoulders and started to turn a little. “Let’s just sit in my car and talk, okay?” You nodded and let him guide you across the parking lot to his car. Jughead opened the door to the passenger's seat and let you climb in. He closed it behind you and walked to his own door. You sat there in silence, and the minute it took him to join you in the car felt like an hour. Your eyes were still wet and your cheeks felt hot. You were embarrassed. About a lot of things. Not being able to participate in the conversation, running out crying, not being able to give Jughead those experiences. Your thoughts were cut off by Jughead entering the car and closing the door after himself. He was quiet for a minute as he moved around a little, getting comfortable, but not really.

“So, you want to talk about this?” Jughead asked, looking at you. You could feel his green eyes on you but you couldn’t bring yourself to look up at him. You slowly nodded your head yes and chewed at your lip. You knew you had to talk but you just couldn’t say anything right now. Jughead was silent, giving you time to work up what you had to say. You wish you could have stopped the tear that rolled down your cheek. But you just sighed at it. Jughead placed a hand on your cheek, wiping the tear away with his thumb. His hand was warm and familiar and despite this horrible feeling you were more at ease.

“I’m sorry you have to put up with me.” You finally said, looking at him. You nestled your face into Jugheads hand and closed your eyes.

“Hey.” Jughead cooed. You opened your eyes to watch him speak. “I never have to put up with you. You not wanting to do stuff doesn’t bother me.” You knew he was trying to be honest but you couldn’t help all the doubt you had.

“I-I just, I’m afraid I can’t give you what you want.” You spoke under your breath. Jughead gave you a sad look and ran his thumb across your cheekbone.

“And what do you think I want?” He asked, his voice was sympathetic. You shook your head and took in a breath.

“What they were talking about in there. What they want. What every single teenage boy I’ve ever met wants.” You sighed. Jughead had never pushed you, you never had any reason to believe that’s all he wanted. But still…

“That’s not what I want, (y/n). I want you.” Jughead said, letting his hand slide from your cheek under your chin to bring your face up. You looked into his eyes and found nothing but sincerity. “I want to be with you and make you happy. I don’t care about sex. Hell, I’m probably somewhere in the ace spectrum myself. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is just that you’re happy and comfortable.” He pulled his hand away from your face and adjusted himself so he was fully facing you.

“You make me comfortable, Jughead.” You moved to mirror him. “I just, I get so worried. I’m worried I frustrate you. Or that one day you’ll want to do something I just can’t do.” You shook your head. Jughead bit his lip and looked down for a second but quickly back up to you.

“I’ll be honest. You have no idea how relieved I was that you didn’t complain about me not making a move after we’d been dating for a whole month. And I was even more relieved that you never made a move.” He smiled and you could tell he was telling the truth. “I’ve just, gone out with girls who’ve ran their hands up my thighs after the first date. And there’s nothing wrong with that at all it’s just, not for me.” He shrugged. “I never want to do stuff like that. And I don’t think I ever will. I like that we just hold hands and fall asleep on the couch. I like that there’s no pressure with you. I like that we can put on sweatpants and watch Titanic and when that one part comes on we can go get more snacks and not sit there and be expected to do something. I love all of those things, okay, and I love you. I love what we have, (y/n).” Jughead leaned in a little and looked into your eyes.

You felt tears welling up again, but they were different. Happy. Jughead didn’t know that though and started to look worried. You couldn’t help but start laughing. Jughead smiled and joined you in your nearly hysterical laughter. Tears filled up his eyes as well and you were both crying. He leaned in to hug you and you sobbed on each others shoulders for a moment.

“I love you.” You said, moving back slightly and wiping the tears from Jugheads face. He pressed his lips to yours for a second before returning the favor.

“I love you, too.” He said, cupping your face in his hands. Jughead rested his forehead against yours. “Don’t ever doubt that, (y/n).” He pressed another kiss to your lips before leaning back. He left on hand on your cheek and placed the other on his steering wheel. Things were finally still in a peaceful way as he smiled at you for a minute. “Let's get you home.”

♦ * ⋅ ⋆ — looks like「the ROSE COLORED GLASS」or as most would call HIM, OLIVER ELKS, has just enrolled at gmu! some would say the NINETEEN year old looks a lot like ASHTON IRWIN. truthfully, they can be AWKWARD, but also WHIMSICAL. more than anything though, i wanna know WHAT MADE HIM SO OPTIMISTIC? i heard HIS GRANDPARENTS RAISED HIM WITH LOVE AND TOO MANY FAIRYTALES. i also heard that they sometimes KNIT SWEATERS FOR DOGS. wonder if i have any classes with ‘em. [cismale]

alright below i’m just going to throw around a bit of info about oliver !! nothing too complicated (or interesting lmao), but oliver is a recently revived muse of mine so i apologise if everything isn’t sorted out yet. :) okay now to the fact mobile

oliver is of a dying breed, the chivalrous gentleman. defs a boy-next-door type, he was raised with impeccable manners and respect and with too much empathy bottled up in one human tbh

this is partly due to oliver just being a sensitive person to begin with, but also bc of the traumas of his childhood

tw: death & bullying - oliver was always the smallest kid in class, had a weird last name, and an easy target for bullies. he was bullied constantly, to which his parents constantly reaffirmed him and told him they loved him always. but still, he got picked on a lot. things only got worse when his parents passed away when he was 7 years old in a tragic accident caused by a gas leak. oliver lived with his grandparents after that on the outside of town.

the events from above didn’t harden him, they softened him ??? like, his mind became nearly expunged of everything negative and retained an optimistic outlook of the world (sometimes, to a fault). he can be a lil too trusting or naive, but his intentions are always pure. the bad things that happen sorta just fly right over his head now. most of the time this is a blessing, but sometimes it’s hard to be real with him bc he’s too busy just trying to put a positive spin on something that should be accepted for what it is y’know?

relating to the above, a lot of insecurities and harrows from his childhood have gone unresolved bc he just refuses to talk about it,,, like, if something’s not good, he just won’t acknowledge it. it’s part of the reason he’s taken to drinking a lil too much, and partying more than he should (part of this was bc he was late in his teenage rebellion, also due to the fact he just finds them,,, fun. he loves being happy and watching others being happy too).

also fun facts oliver’s dad was australian and so when he was 15, he spent a summer with his australian family bc he hadn’t seen them since his parents’ funeral basicaly and he kinda nevilled ™/archied ™… he went over as this tiny morsel of a kid and returned not only bigger physically, but his features had filled out more and his ears sat right and his teeth suited his face and basically… he got hot. but the best thing that happened to him over that summer was he finally became a lil more confident !!

he’s also a pure ROMANTIC. he watched too much disney as a kid and both his parents and grandparents had the most touching love stories. oliver has always wanted this. bc of this he has a tendency to ‘catch feels’ waaaay too quickly, but he’s not here for any of that ‘netflix and chill’ stuff. he panics when it comes to that sort of thing tbh, it’s actually sorta adorable lmao.

on that note, his sexuality has been something he hasn’t actively thought about, and he doesn’t like to label himself. he could fall in love with anyone really, it all depends on what type of person they are to oliver and such. but yeah, it’s not something he talks about v often, if at all. he’s not a labels sort of person

he’s a psych major at gmu bc he wants to spend his life helping people (would have been a doctor or vet, however he’s scared of operations and things of that nature). he works part time at a pet store, lugging dog food and the like. he has a pet fish, but not an actual pet, which is something he laments on every day.

he takes photos of everything. he’s obsessed with capturing every moment, and bc of this, his instagram is LIT (and yours would be too, he’d happily spend 30 mins helping you getting that perfect shot). he also loves the outdoors and plays a lot of sports, however he competed in swimming carnivals since he was a kid. (he also plays guitar on the dl, but that’s not common knowledge)

don’t feed this man sugar, he’ll be hyped for days

as oliver grew up with his grandparents (who are quite a bit older bc oliver’s parents had him later in life via ivf), he has a lot of quirks he’s inherited from them. he literally loves knitting ?? it’s such a calming thing for him, and he’d happily knit you a scarf or something if you asked. he’s also quite a good gardener and sometimes he may just wear a flower behind his ear or whatever and like agiuhagsdaf he’s my sunbeam

he kinda wants to travel and see the world, but he needs to stay for his family ??

this boy has 19 years of baggage manifested inside him. it takes a lot to get him angry, but if you happen to be the lucky one that does,,, oh boy. oh boy.
