After my son left it behind, Derek towed it in, thinking it was probably beyond repair. But then he opened up the hood and he pulled off all the duck tape Stiles had stuck on it. And he managed to fix it. That Jeep, no matter what’s been done to it, it just keeps running. He could never figure out why it wouldn’t break down and stay down.
And I don’t think he ever realized that that’s exactly the way we saw him. I have never seen anyone take that kind of punishment that Derek Hale took, and kept taking, in order to protect the people he loved.

once and again by bleep0bleep
(1/1 I 1,101 I General)
The problem with the multiverse, is that there are infinite possibilities. Stiles is tired. He’s been at this for a long, long time. It took years to master the power to traverse universes, and Stiles is putting a lot of faith in that he’ll find Derek again– a year of his life per shot, as is.
The (less) Broken Road by theroguesgambit
(1/1 I 4,012 I Teen I Sterek)
Stiles and Derek find themselves in an alternate reality where Derek's still an Alpha, many of their lost friends are alive and well, and their alternate selves are apparently in a serious, long-term relationship.
With each other.
...Weird, right?

“Who are you? What are you doing? How are you doing? What is going on? Put me down!”
The man holding him let out a small chuckle, but didn’t release him until they were back on the cliff.
Where the Kappas were.
And he did, in fact, try and put Stiles down.
Stiles clung to the man tightly, arms around his neck and legs twisted so he could keep himself raised off the ground.
“Ah, not now, not now! Put me down where there aren’t any Kappas!”
Double Trouble by scatterglory
(11/11 I 8,191 I Mature I Sterek)
The Dereks face off across the small clearing he’d been running through, and Stiles realizes with a sick, sinking sensation that he’s not actually seeing double.
This or That, But Not Both by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella)
(1/1 I 8,829 I Teen I Sterek)
“You can’t have everything.” The man held up both hands. “Your family,” he said, lifting his right hand and lowering his left, “or your boyfriend,” he switched them around, lifting his left and lowering his right. “Balance. You can have this,” he motioned around the room, “or that.” He pointed to his left and space seemed to break apart, a portal opening and showing Stiles, sitting at his desk with one hand pulling at his hair, the other flipping pages in a book.
“This, or that, but not both,” the Jumper said.
Five Days and a New Moon by LadyDrace
(1/1 I 13,614 I Teen I Sterek)
Stiles gets a visit from himself from a parallel universe. In which he was born a girl. And had a kid. Which he's now stuck taking care of for a few days.
Great.
Oddly, though, Derek seems totally happy babysitting.

Worlds Apart by exclamation
(14/14 I 32,131 I Explicit I Sterek)
Nothing exciting ever happens in Beacon Hills... until Stiles appears to get a stalker. A strange guy is breaking into his house, watching him at lacrosse practice and grabbing him outside of the school. This guy claims that he's a werewolf who knows Stiles in another world... and he needs Stiles' help to figure out what happened to him.
Agreeing to help a werewolf research parallel worlds is one thing... hiding it from his dad is another.

Standing next to not-Derek – whoa, holding not-Derek’s hand? – is someone who looks remarkably like Stiles. Is Stiles, a slightly-altered replica, just like this guy both is and isn't Derek.
It’s not like looking into a mirror – one, because looking into a mirror actually makes some kind of sense, and two, because not-Stiles looks older too, mid twenties maybe. And the tips of his short, spiky hair are dark purple, and he’s got a lip ring and he’s shirtless and covered in tattoos and what the holy hell?
“Time travel?" He's sufficiently freaked. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he hears his dad laughing.
“Not exactly,” not-Derek says, and shit, even his voice sounds exactly the same, disconcertingly gentle. He gestures behind him, and Stiles looks over his shoulder, where behind him, scattered across the porch and in the front yard, are more…Dereks and more Stileses.
Fourteen total, including the two at the door, he notes distantly, eyes feeling like they’re about to pop out of his head from bulging so hard.
Seven other Dereks. Seven other Stileses.
Seven Derek and Stiles pairs.

And Derek just stood there, staring at Stiles like he was a ghost.
“Dude, I know it’s been a while but you don’t have to look at me like you’re that surprised I’m hung over in the woods. It’s practically a tradition at this point.”
“Stiles?” Derek whispered, the name falling from his lips like a punch to the gut. Stiles watched, confused, as Derek took a deep breath in and took a shaky step forward then back again. “You’re not- you can’t be. Who are you?”

(3/3 I 63,206 I Teen I Sterek)
In which Stiles goes along with one of Derek’s plans and ends up in an alternate universe as a result. He should’ve known better. He did know better, actually, and that means he has no one to blame but himself.
“Laura wants to lure the kid in with food and kindness and make a pet of him, like a feral cat. Derek wants to have him arrested for stalking. They’re at an impasse. (And the rest of the family is staying emphatically out of it in a way that suggests bets have been placed.)”

Hii hope everything is going well. I have a recent apetite for a fanfic where stiles is best friends with cora or a sister or brother of derek and derek is the best friends older brother and stiles has a crush and all maybe. Happy ending pretty please.

Derek was scowling again—seriously, did he want wrinkles?—but he just reached into one of the bags and pulled out a burger, checking what was written on the foil in sharpie before handing it over to Stiles.

Or the one where Stiles Stilinski moves to Beacon Hills from New York City and immediately befriends Scott McHale. Scott tells Stiles he's an only child--except he really, really isn't. So how was Stiles supposed to know Derek From The Jungle is actually Derek McHale, Scott's older brother that he kept secret for a reason?

The Teen Wolf fanspace would be a perfect case study for the Mandella Effect. How fandom works to build false narratives to create false memories among a collective when a story doesn't cater specifically to [their] white interests.
On, god, I am really quite willing to trawl through the history of this show's audience sewage responses just to build a paper around it.
Tumblr media
Well, I'll tell you one thing: you won't have a problem finding evidence for your thesis!
After you sent me this ask, I read up on the Mandela Effect, and I have to admit I tried to resist applying it to the Teen Wolf fanspace at first, because there's something dissatisfying to me about looking at my experience through that lens. Intentional misrepresentation can be rejected and countered, but with subconscious misrepresentation, the task becomes so much more difficult. In other words, it's easier to dodge a bullet than an avalanche. In the end though, the result is the same.
My discomfort arises even more as I examine the Teen Wolf fandom through that lens, because you can see examples of the effect consistently. Scenes, characterizations, and flat-out lampshading must vanish completely from the fandom's memories in order for their experience to conform to their peer-reinforced expectations. No example demonstrates this more than the way fandom treats Master Plan (2x12).
Do you know how many times I have had to explain to other individuals in the fandom, both new and old, that Scott's plan was never to make Derek bite Gerard. It was Gerard's plan for Derek to bite him, and we know this. In the episode itself, Gerard crows that science doesn't have a cure for cancer, but the supernatural does. Scott figured out that Gerard had cancer, but Scott didn't know that Gerard planned to make Scott be the one to physically force Derek to do it. Scott didn't know that Gerard could sense Jackson's location and that Gerard would show up at the warehouse. Scott certainly didn't know that Gerard would put Jackson's claws to Allison's throat in order to extort him into doing it. Do you know how I know this? Because the show carefully lampshaded every single thing I just said.
Scott's plan was to poison Gerard so he couldn't get the bite, so he wouldn't kill Derek and be able to become Alpha. That's why he switched out the mountain ash. If he had wanted to simply kill Gerard, as many people have pointed out, why not just switch out the pills for actual poison?
But the fandom forgets everything in that scene beyond the fact that Scott made Derek bite Gerard. They forget the logical conclusion that if Scott had died in Raving (2x08), Gerard would have simply found someone else to make Derek bite him. They forget the reality that Allison -- someone who was far more important to Scott than the man who had stepped on his throat to prove a point, had kidnapped and threatened his best friend Stiles, and had sent his classmates to murder Lydia in his freaking bedroom -- was in mortal danger every moment Scott's hands were on Derek.
But the Mandela effect doesn't stop with Scott. Think about Allison herself at the end of Season 2. She's suddenly a "b*tch" because she hunted down Erica and Boyd. Make no mistake, she shouldn't have gone about it in the way that she did, which Chris Argent rightfully pointed that out. Fandom correctly remembers that this was due to an overreaction to the death of her mother and the manipulation of her evil grandfather, but then they treat Erica, Boyd, and Isaac as if they were innocent victims of prejudice, instead of the people who had chosen to hurt her boyfriend Scott, hurt her friend Stiles (who was her friend, not Derek's and not the beta trio's), and try to murder her best friend Lydia. That doesn't include the fact that she had been personally threatened by Erica and physically attacked by Isaac, or that Derek had accepted Peter -- the man who ripped out her aunt's throat and tried to kill her repeatedly -- back into his pack and was working with him. But two entire seasons' worth of violence and attempted murder simply vanishes in order to facilitate the fandom's judgment of Allison's behavior in the last three episodes of Season 2.
I've put it down to racism and misogyny -- and it is! -- but I have to suspect that it isn't a deliberate decision to forget about all the things Teen Wolf did to lay out the story. It's been encouraged and repeated often enough that it's taken on a life of its own in fandom, and now participants aren't even obligated to take what little they've seen into account. Why should they? It's like it never happened.

Please please please tell me more about ace sterek exploration 🥺
one of my favorite WIPs that i still swear i'm gonna finish someday!!!!!
human college AU where Derek is ace and decides he wants to explore his sexuality a little to figure out if he's sex repulsed and what his boundaries are through experimentation, and he gets a recommendation from Erica for Stiles, an experienced and sex-loving classmate that she can vouch for as being a really good respectful guy who won't be a dick about it.
Derek Hale stood in the hallway, hands in the pockets of his standard leather jacket, looking a little out of place in a shitty apartment building when Stiles was used to only seeing him in class. His head was down, but he looked up when Stiles said his name. He did not, however, volunteer anything. Stiles slumped against his door jamb. “What are you, uh…what are you doing here?” It didn’t register until after he had said it that asking like that might be rude. It was also a fair question, though, so Stiles let it stand. He had been acquainted with Derek for the better part of three years, since they had always had a lot of classes in the same buildings, but they weren’t really pals. Definitely not close enough for Derek showing up at his apartment after dinner time to not be weird. He wouldn’t have thought Derek even knew where he lived. Derek shifted on his feet. “I wanted to ask you something.” “If it’s about the reading for Professor Ito, I can email it to you,” Stiles offered, scratching his head. “A lot of people were having trouble with the PDF download earlier, according to Kira. She thinks they got the problem fixed, but if it still isn’t working for you—” “I want you to have sex with me.” Stiles got halfway through his next word before that statement processed in his brain, and then his mouth stopped functioning properly. His ears too, possibly, because that could not be what Derek had actually said. After a few painful seconds, he managed a weak, “Pardon?” Derek’s face looked downright angry, what with the eyebrows and the manfully clenching jaw, but the tips of his ears were pink and his glare seemed to have settled somewhere around Stiles’ knees. “I said I—” He cut himself off with a shake of his head. “I heard that you have a lot of…” “...sex?” Stiles put in helpfully when it seemed like Derek had lost track of that particular word. Derek’s ears only got redder. “Yes, that. And I need to… Well, I want to…” “...to have sex,” Stiles filled in again. “With me?” Derek nodded. He still looked mad, but Stiles thought that might just be his incredibly uncomfortable face.
[...]
Stiles was going to have to wing it, which he could totally do. As Derek had pointed out, Stiles had had a lot of sex in the last couple of years. He had a very healthy appetite, and he had grown into himself enough to be reasonably attractive to many of his peers. A couple of hookups a week kept him satisfied and able to focus better on his studies, and it also meant that he had plenty of experience with partners of varying tastes and preferences. Derek would be just one more. Besides, Stiles couldn’t say that he wasn’t looking forward to the chance to get all up on that, even if it got cut short. Derek was a flawless specimen of manly beauty and Stiles was not immune to his surly charms. In fact, Stiles was pretty sure that he had made a pass at Derek a few years ago, back when they had both been in the same Rhetoric and Composition class. He’d been rejected, as he had anticipated—though apparently not for the reason he’d assumed at the time—but he’d had to at least try. And now, here he was, making plans to have sex with Derek Hale. Or to attempt sex with Derek Hale, more like. There was no guarantee of how this would go. It was entirely possible that they could get two minutes in and Derek would call the whole thing off. Which would be perfectly fine and a good thing, really, because it would mean that Derek had figured out what he had come to Stiles to figure out. But if Derek didn’t call it off, then Stiles was going to make damn sure he had the best introduction to sex that anyone could ever have. He was going to rock Derek’s world, if Derek was okay with that. He hoped Derek was okay with that. He also hoped that Derek didn’t care if his carpet was vacuumed or not, because he was pretty sure his vacuum had been broken for like four months and no amount of hitting it was making it work again. Stiles wasn’t intending to sex Derek up on the floor of his living room, so it would probably be fine, but he was stress cleaning, so sue him.
[...]
“Is this okay?” Stiles’ voice came out lower and softer than he’d intended, but that was just because they were so close together. It didn’t make sense to be loud, he told himself. Derek licked his lips, eyes flicking up to Stiles’ and then darting away again. “I already said green, didn’t I?” “Doesn’t mean I’m not going to ask again,” Stiles said. “I’m going to keep asking, Derek. And I’m always going to listen to your answer.” Derek’s eyes met his and held them. They only fluttered closed when they were close enough to bump noses. Stiles kept the kiss simple at first. Just a press of lips, then another. He lingered over it long enough for Derek to press back experimentally, like he was testing out how this all worked. It was strangely sweet. Stiles gave him a little more, leading him in the push and pull of it, and when Stiles pulled back a bit, he found Derek with an adorable look of concentration on his face. “How’s it going so far?” he asked. “It’s…” Derek’s eyelashes fanned out across his cheeks in an inky sweep. “…weird.” “Good weird or bad weird?” “Not bad.” Stiles huffed a laugh. “Does that mean you want to keep going? Hit me with a color, dude.” Derek pinched his leg and ignored Stiles’ yelp to say, “Don’t call me ‘dude’.” Stiles contemplated snatching the throw pillow from the floor and laying into him—the most surefire way to win a pillow fight, after all, was to be in possession of the only pillow in the room—but he was on a mission and he would not be distracted. “Color.” Derek rolled his eyes. “Green.” “Okay, then, so come back here and let me kiss you again!”
and of course they're gonna develop feelings along the way, and Stiles is gonna angst about it cuz this is a Business Arrangement obviously and this isn't what Derek came to him for and he's taking advantage and whatnot, cuz that's how these things work, we know how it goes XD

yours to tame [peter/stiles]
The sweetest @bxdcubes prompted me with:
“How about: "I didn't know where to go" and Person A knocking late at Person B's door. Ship of your choice :D”
My ship of choice is of course Steter, because... Yeah, I cannot leave. Hope you will enjoy, dear heart!
Read here on AO3 or under the cut!
It’s been a few years since Stiles even thought about anyone from Beacon Hills.
Even his own father doesn’t cross his mind often - all the memories are tinted with a bittersweet taste of betrayal.
Stiles doesn’t think of his father or anyone from his childhood - no, that’s not true. He sometimes talks with Kira and Cora - they both settled down somewhere near the river in the forest, happy and carefree, and together.
Love is a beautiful look on them.
He sometimes hears from Chris, who lost Isaac somewhere along the years. Stiles didn’t care and didn’t ask, still doesn’t. It’s always Chris reaching out, cajoling out answers and promises of taking care of himself from Stiles. Caring.
He doesn’t know why the older man cares so much, but it feels nice. Even if still heavy with misplaced guilt.
The point is, Stiles has made a clear cut between his life before (Beacon Hills and ruin, and pain, and death, and I’m sorry, I didn’t mean…) and after (evening calls with Chris and once-a-month brunches with Cora and Kira).
The point is, Stiles built a life. He dragged himself from hell and rebuilt himself into a man that he could proudly show off.
He doesn’t need his past knocking at his door in the middle of the night.
Too bad that Peter Hale never did anything that Stiles expected.
To be honest, Peter doesn’t actually manage to knock on the door before they’re thrown wide open.
Stiles’ wards (take that Deaton, you piece of enigmatic shit!) warned him some time before of someone approaching - he’s warded the area of his cozy, little house to hell and back with different ‘sensitivity’ levels in different distances from the center of his home.
He knows when someone is just passing through and when it’s someone unfamiliar.
He infused some of his memories of people in the wards (there’s a reason he's not afraid of Scott ever coming over) and they recognized Peter.
Stiles wants to laugh - loud and hysterical, just like him - as his wards don’t recognize him as a threat.
Looking at the man in front of him - haggard and dirty, clearly exhausted and on the run - Stiles still understands, knows he’s a threat.
Just maybe not to him.
“I’m…” Peter doesn’t even blink, unfazed by how Stiles knew he was there.
For all Stiles is aware, Peter probably knows everything about him. Keeping tabs.
“Hello, Peter,” Stiles leans on his wooden bat - one of many beautifully created weapons that he infused with a mix of wolfsbane and mistletoe, spells carved in the base - and smiles widely.
Peter eyes the weapon - admires the magically preserved calla lilies braided around the wood, intertwined with too sharp barbed wire - and something like pride flickers in his eyes.
“I had nowhere to go,” he says after a beat of silence, gaze steady as he talks to Stiles. He doesn’t submit, but he shows his respect. It doesn’t get Stiles, not at all. “I didn’t know where else to go.”
Stiles looks at him and makes himself really look. He dismisses the proud tilt of Peter’s head and the nervous tick in his jaw.
He takes in the shadows under his eyes and the weariness that comes only with many sleepless nights. He takes in the worn out clothes and shoes - they’re far from stylish or even comfortable. They’re practical, probably grabbed from someone and not chosen with Peter in mind.
Stiles makes himself really see Peter and decides.
“You shouldn’t know where to go, actually,” he watches as Peter’s eyes flick to the left - a small tell of shame? worry? something that Peter lets him see. “Did Chris rat me out?”
Another emotion passes through Hale’s face - this one quicker, darker, possessive.
“Cora, actually. She mellowed out.”
“Kira has that effect on her,” Stiles nods and waits.
Peter runs a hand through his short, dirty hair and grimaces. He looks like he doesn’t know how to proceed and Stiles remembers the determined expression in his crazy eyes from years before.
Oh, how they broke you.
“Come in,” he says finally, when Peter struggles for words
Stiles expected a monologue, how lucky he was that Peter found him and can share his expertise.
He didn’t expect another broken soul - so, so similar.
“Let me help,” Stiles offers and it’s… stupid and dangerous, and his self-preservation instinct screams at him for being so naive. For letting himself get sucked in this again.
He’s always had a weakness for broken things.
Peter fits his collection to a tee.
(Later, Peter will ask why Stiles let him in.
“I was looking in the mirror,” Stiles will answer him, a whisper only between the two of them. Caught dangerously between them.
Peter will shiver against Stiles, pressed between an armrest and Stiles’ body. He will lean against the younger man and let himself relax. Stiles will run his fingers through Peter’s hair - now wet, and clean, and soft - and let his hand slide towards the other man’s neck. He will watch Peter and wait for his move.
Peter will smirk - a soft, cherished wisp of a smile - against Stiles’ skin and burrow himself closer. Burrow himself deeper in Stiles’ heart like he never left, like they haven’t had years between them.
“I missed you, clever boy,” Peter will whisper back and something heavy will lift from Stiles’ chest.
Later, Stiles will stand in front of Peter in all his dangerous glory, at the edge of his their territory. He will shield Peter from them - his body a perfect and enough protection - and watch the hunters writhe on the ground.
He will feel Peter’s hands on his waist - heavy and possessive, and branding - and his kiss on the back of his neck - soft and sweet, and shy.
Later, Stiles will watch the bodies of his Peter’s enemies disappear in the mud, taken by hungry vines and even hungrier spirits, and he will wonder if he’s being used again.
Later, Stiles will watch Peter and wait, and wait for the other shoe to drop. He will wait for Peter to get bored, get confirmation that he’s now safe, no longer hunted. He will wait for Peter to grab his stuff and disappear into the night - dramatic and typical Peter.
Stiles will wait for all of it for a month, two. After three, he just gets a reminder.
After nine months, Peter will drag him outside on the porch. After nine months, Peter will drop to his knees and present Stiles with an enchanted bracelet with pressed lilies of the valley.
The calla lilies in Stiles’ - and Peter’s - garden will bloom.
Later.)

teen wolf has what we call a soft magic system. it's rules aren't wholly defined and rigid so there is a lot of interpretation and wiggle room for the writers.
think of how star wars handles the force over how harry potter's magic has specific rules and boundaries.
there is something of explanation though and it lies with duecalion.
duecalion explains to theo in the beast of beacon hills:
"that's the secret to taking power. pain. take their pain, take their life, take their power. It's all or nothing. you take until there's nothing more to give. that's where you find the spark of power. and then, you take that as well. pain, life, power. in that order and only that order."
we see theo put this into practice with his pack and it's because of this liam even thinks to bring him back in 6a but his time in hell stripped of all that extra power just as peter's resurrection left him weaker than an omega.
power has a cost but there is power in taking it from someone else, from taking their life and energy. this is something we see many times throughout the show actually.
it's the driving principle behind the alpha pack. selfishly they killed their pack members which enhanced their own powers and than by following duecalion they enhanced his power.
it's why they wanted derek to kill boyd and isaac so badly. taking their power would make derek more powerful and therefore increase their power if he joined them.
we see this when derek mercy kills paige and why his eyes changed color. he absorbed a lot of her pain and than her life energy which therefore gave him more power.
incidentally this is probably why there's a stigma to blue eyes within the supernatural community which peter hints at when he is trying to manipulate stiles and cora in visionary:
"taking an innocent life takes something from you as well... a bit of your soul. darkening it, dimming the once brilliant golden yellow to a cold, steel blue."
fandom took this too literally. there is no morality involved in how power transference works but it's part of the mythos in the supernatural community.
when derek heals cora and his alpha spark is consumed in the process duecalion's words are still the idea behind what occurred. he takes on her pain and she took his excess power to heal herself beyond what a beta could do.
peter explains it in alpha pact:
"it's that spark of power that makes you an alpha. when you take her pain, she draws on the power that provides you with those special gifts: the power that heightens your senses, your strength; the power that transforms your body. as an alpha, you have that bit of extra-- that spark intensifies the color of your eyes from a bright yellow into a searing red."
this the entire reason peter killed laura in the first place and he explained that in wolf's bane:
"yes, becoming an alpha, taking that from laura pushed me over a plateau in the healing process."
remember the speech the nogitsune gives scott in letharia vulpina?
"you should have done your reading, scott. see, a nogitsune feeds off chaos, strife, and pain. this morning, you took it from isaac, then you took it from coach, and then from a dying deputy. all that pain... you took it all. now, give it to me."
even jennifer gains power from killing and death. she commits sacrifices to gain specific kinds of power which parallels her to duecalion and the alphas. she is not any better than they are despite believing her cause righteous.
as a true alpha scott's spark cannot be stolen. like, peter couldn't just take it by killing scott because that spark is unique to scott specifically. it's incompatible with nearly anyone else except for those who were created by that spark which would only be liam and hayden.
and we know that even in the teen wolf universe they are still beholden to law of conversation of energy so energy cannot be created or destroyed. it has to go somewhere.
so say in season 4, if peter had killed scott than either scott's alpha spark merely dies with him or liam inherits it. than peter kills liam to take the spark.
the same for theo in season 5. he cannot take scott's power so he engineers liam killing scott and than he would kill liam for it.
never mind that theo isn't an actual supernatural creature but one created by the dread doctors so it's unclear if he could take the power anyway but i am digressing and it's all fucking convoluted but here we are.
like, we know corinne wanted to kill malia to try to regain the power she believed stolen from her when malia was born. instead malia pulled a reverse uno by using belasko's claws on her.
inheritance seems to be the most peaceful way power 1. remains in families and 2. transfers as a whole.
when talia had laura, derek and cora they inherited a piece of her spark which made them born wolves. when talia died the alpha spark went to laura but since laura was murdered by peter the line of inheritance was interrupted.
now there's a nebulous little thing of scott being dead for like 15 minutes and liam didn't become an alpha and this is where the soft magic system comes into play.
go with the story. sometimes you just have to accept things for the sake of the story over getting a concrete answer.
also this is why frayed is hilarious in retrospect. they all think derek died but none of them take a moment and realize that neither isaac or boyd have become alphas because none of these idiots know how things work quite yet.
the brain cell was calling but no one was home.
i will acknowledge they also didn't know if someone just didn't come along and finished derek off while he lay there dying but i think my line of thinking is funnier.
but for example say derek died in season 2 when peter resurrected himself. something which came close to happening. than derek's alpha spark would probably go to isaac who was his first created beta.
it's the reason scott didn't become alpha upon peter's death. derek killed peter taking that energy and became the alpha thereby breaking the line of inheritance.
therefore one can become an alpha by inheritance which is likely how the hale pack maintained it's power and is the most peaceful, by killing which is common but frowned upon and by changing their own spark via willpower extremely rare.
tl;dr pain is the secret sauce in the teen wolf universe.

well now that it's been a couple days since i watched the teen wolf movie and i've sufficiently forgotten 90% of it, i think it's time i told you all what i liked/disliked about it
1. jackson whittemore
he was just so fucking funny, like why was he even there?? did they give colton a script or did they just give him a recap of everything he missed in the show before simply throwing him on set and going "good luck."
i loved him though. it really feels like he's more comfortable in himself now. when he came back in s6, he wasn't as bitter but he still felt quite stiff. now he's comfortable in his sexuality and his place in the world, and he's no longer trying too hard. love that for him. his friendship with lydia also means a lot to me. i originally thought they were gonna put them back together, but i adore them as snarky besties.
also i'm glad they didn't break him and ethan up. we got our lgbtq+ scraps, guys!!
2. peter hale
hasn't changed a bit and i love it. his entrance was iconic and so fitting for his character. the tension between him and chris was obvious (perhaps because of melissa?) and i love how they still have an air of mystery when it comes to him. no one truly knows if he's on the good side or the bad.
also i can confidently say that peter crawling on the floor in human form, sniffing, was the absolute highlight of the movie.
3. eli hale
he was a great addition to the cast. i loved his relationship with derek, but him as a character really refreshed the film and gave us some wholesome but funny moments.
also we all know he's basically a stiles mini-me, so it was nice to have someone there to fill what the film would've been missing because of stiles' absense without full-out replacing him.
4. jr borne
his acting in the movie was absolutely outstanding. i was in shock. he was already amazing in the show but he's outdone himself. i really felt his emotions through the screen. literal chills. what a powerful performance!
5. the hellhound
i'm so glad they gave parrish an important role in the film. the hellhound was one of my favourite supernatural creatures from the show, so it was great to see ryan kelley shine once more.
6. coach finstock
he also has not changed a single bit and it's really refreshing to see. they didn't try to shoehorn him into the story too much. he simply played the part he always has, and made us laugh doing it.
7. the jeep
when they said the jeep would be featured in the film, i didn't think they meant they would try and stick it in every scene possible. i love it.
as a sterek shipper, i love the idea of eli nicking the jeep because he knows derek has some complicated feelings towards it. i won't do a sterek section on this list because i don't know whether i'm happy or mad about it, but this was an interesting addition to the film.
8. melissa had a crossbow
she had a crossbow. it's about fucking time.
now what i disliked:
1. the misuse of key characters
why were liam and mason used as side characters?? why did they barely speak, they're best friends?? why did they introduce hikari and not bother actually giving her a personality outside of being a kitsune?? i have too many thoughts on all of this, but it pissed me off.
2. just general confusion
they didn't specify if melissa and chris were still together or not. no explanation on why scott and malia split up. how did parrish and malia get together? who is eli's mum? why did liam have the nogitsune? why did scott and allison adopt eli?
also where has all the chemistry between the cast gone?? shelley especially felt so awkward with everyone. it's like they're not friends anymore, which i know isn't true.
3. the nudity and swearing
i could've gone my whole life without seeing allison, parrish and malia's bare asses. also the swearing was great, but they all felt like year 7's when they did it.
4. the returns
as someone who didn't really care for allison, her return was just annoying. out of all the characters they could've brought back, allison is the one they definitely should've left alone. hers was a major death in the show, and the start of a lot of character development for scott and chris. they should've come up with a different story not involving allison or the nogitsune. you know they only brought her back so that scallison fans can have their endgame.
and adrian harris?? what?? why?? he didn't even do anything of purpose in the film. what was the actual point in bringing him back??
5. derek's death
i'm not even gonna touch this. but i'm fuming.

Back to You
Part 4: She’s Not You
AN: jack fucked up lmao
Request? No
Warnings: almost smut and rude security
Word Count:
Tumblr media
The last few days have been peaceful between Jack and Aspen. They’ve been inseparable, spending as much time together as they could before Jack went to Dallas. They were reuniting in LA since Jack is also performing at that Jingle Ball and because Aspen had a Christmas movie coming out on Hulu the week before Christmas. Originally there wasn't gonna be any premiere or promo since it didn't have a theatrical release. But the movie producers changed their minds, taking advantage of the fact that Aspen was a hot topic. The producers arranged a screening in Los Angeles the day before Jack performed at Jingle Ball.
The movie was about a girl who moved to New York coming back to her hometown and bumping into her ex, played by Dylan O'Brien. One of the main plot points was they had to fake-date to not ruin Aspen's character's reputation after someone caught them in a compromising position. They were a stubborn pair, too oblivious that they still loved each other and that their actions were real and not fake. Plot wise the movie was on the verge of being a lifetime movie, but many reviewers praised Aspen and Dylan's chemistry and acting.
Funny enough, Jack actually visited her in Vancouver, where the movie was filmed, for a week back in early February. He joked that he had to meet the other white guy that owned her heart when they were in high school. When he met Dylan O’Brien he did not waste a second and told Dylan about how he almost learned lacrosse to get at Aspen because she was obsessed with Stiles from Teen Wolf. Dylan joked that he just had to make the team because Stiles was benched most of the time. Aspen’s sisters also visited her but that’s because they wanted to meet Dylan. The three sisters were able to not fight for one hour whenever the show was on.
A loud alarm startled the couple awake. Aspen pushed Jack's arm off her waist, but he circled it tighter around her.
"Jack," she giggled.
"Let it ring." He mumbled into neck.
"If I don't turn it off, it'll automatically snooze and ring in five minutes." Aspen explained.
"Fine," Jack let go.
Aspen reached for her phone and shut off the alarm. She placed it back on her nightstand and got under the blankets. She laid on her side and felt Jack get behind her. He kissed her bare shoulder and pulled her to his chest. It didn't take long for Jack to get handsy, so Aspen laid on her back, giving him better access. His large hand cupped her breasts, gently tugging her nipples. It went down to the waistband of her Calvin Klein panties.
"Can I touch your pussy, Aspen?" Jack whispered in her ear, running his thumb over the waistband.
Aspen nodded eagerly.
"Pen, use your words." He said, calling her by the nickname he gave her years ago.
"Please touch me, Jack."
He responded by kissing her. He hovered over her and deepened their kiss. She shifted around so her legs were more open for him to move more comfortably. They continued to kiss as their hips kept moving in sync with each other. Jack pulled away and made his way down her neck.
'Boss Bitch' began to ring, it was Aspen's designated ringtone for Sage. Jack pulled away and let her answer it. He watched her make her way to the bathroom while buttoning up one of his shirts that she kept. Just as he laid back, his phone began to ring. He dug through his pants and found it. It was Neelam.
"'Llo?" He answered.
"Who the fuck is Avery?" She yelled, skipping the pleasantries.
"I don't know." Jack said, confused as hell.
"Really? Because she's some girl claiming that she was at the Atlanta show and you took her to a hotel."
Before he could answer Neelam, Aspen opened the door.
"You fucking liar!"
"Aspen, let me explain–" He said, hanging up on Neelam.
“What is there to explain? I was fucking there or did you forget that you flew me out to Atlanta to see you and let me stay at your apartment after your show. While I waited for you to get back you were fucking some girl?" Her voice cracked. "You fucking lied to me! You said I was the last person you’ve been with. You–”
“We didn’t have sex.” he cut her off. “We barely made it to the hotel before I asked her to leave.”
“But you planned on having sex with her!” she yelled.
“Because she wasn’t you!” Jack yelled, catching her off guard. “From the moment I saw you, I fucking knew you were going to fuck me up. I just didn’t know that it was going to be this bad.” he chuckled to himself. “For years I’ve tried to forget you, I really fucking tried Aspen. No matter what I do, everything circled back to you. Your whole being is permanently engraved in my mind. Your laugh, that obnoxious annoyed look you do when you don’t want to laugh at my jokes, the way your body reacts to me when I make love to you. As fucked up as our situation is, I’m glad we’re together. I know this is where I’m supposed to be. With you.”
Aspen stood stunned, unable to fully comprehend what he just said. Because it seemed like he was confessing his feelings towards her, but that…that shouldn’t be happening. It was too much for her right now. She reasoned that he did this to distract and confuse her. She’s supposed to be upset that he lied to her about the girl.
Jack took a step forward, but she took one back.
“Aspen,” he said in a heartbreakingly low voice.
“Jack, don’t do this.” she hugged herself, feeling a few stray tears roll down her eyes.
“Please,”
“I’ll see you in LA, Jack.”
*
Jack hadn’t heard a word from Aspen since he left for Dallas. He didn't blame her. It was shitty of him to sneak out of a party he was hosting in his home to meet up with some random girl he spotted at his concert because he wanted to get over Aspen. Even worse that he didn't go through with it and went home to Aspen and slept with her. Technically they didn't have sex either, they shared his bed because a few of their friends were also staying at his place for his show.
He felt even worse because Aspen was the one who had to clear up the rumors about him and the woman. She had posted a photo dump of her with their friends and in the middle slide she put a video of her backstage at his Atlanta show, making fun of him for his outfit from that night, calling him a Shaggy and Fred Jones mutant. The slide after was a picture of them that Urban took where he was hugging her from behind back at his place during the kickback he hosted after the show. Their fans quickly agreed that the woman was lying because she didn't provide any evidence that she was with Jack after the show, only that she was at the concert.
He was now in LA, dreading to see her. He entered the suite he's supposed to share with Aspen and set his things in the walk-in closet. There were three Ralph Lauren garment bags hanging. He gathered that it was what they were going to wear for the movie premiere later today. ‘J. Harlow’ was written on two of the tags. Being the curious person Jack was, he opened the first one. Inside was a custom black suit with a black shirt and black tie. Behind the suit was the other garment bag with his name. He opened it, revealing black leather varsity jacket with ‘Louisville’ etched out in a suede like material.
‘A. Peña-Moretti’ was written on the other tag. He deduced that that must be Aspen’s since it had her last names written. He was about to open Aspen’s garment bag to see her gown when he heard the suite lock unlock. He zipped up the other bags and poked his head out of the bedroom just as Rubí entered.
“My cousin sent me to get her an outfit change. She's riding with Clay to meet with Dylan for her last interview.” she said, as Jack stepped aside. She grabbed two other garment bags that were draped on the chairs and turned to him, asking “When did you get here?”
“Five minutes ago.” he said, laying on the bed.
“You didn’t peek in the garment bags did you?” Rubí eyed him suspiciously.
“No.” he shook his head, lying to her.
“Okay because your fake girlfriend would beat my ass. Your Christmas present is in one of them.” she said. “You know what let me take it with me because I know you’re nosy as fuck.”
“I’m not nosy,” he said defensively.
“I’m not gonna argue with you, but you are. I'm gonna drop your present in my room then order an Uber to where Aspen is." She said, typing away on her phone.
"I got a car, let me take you." Jack said, getting up from the bed. He put on his sneakers. Before she could say something, he said, "Don't argue with me, let's go."
Wordlessly, Rubí handed him the garment bags and led him to her suite next door to theirs. Jack awkwardly stood outside the suite, waiting for her to come out. A few minutes later Jack was pulling out of the parking lot, listening to the directions Rubí was giving him.
“So, how's Aspen doing?” he finally asked after a few moments of silence.
“I say this with love, but I'm not getting involved in whatever mess you guys have going on this time.” Rubí said, not looking up from her phone. “It's exhausting and if I wanted to hear people talk about their issues, I would have studied to be a therapist.”
“Well, damn.” he muttered to himself.
The rest of the drive was quiet, save for when Rubí was telling him directions. They pulled up to a studio half an hour later.
“Thanks for the ride.” Rubí said, getting out of the car.
“No, worries.” Jack shrugged. He watched the studio entrance, hoping that Aspen came out. “I'm gonna get some food. Do y'all want something?”
“If you want. Text me where you go and I'll ask Aspen.” She leaned against the car door.
“Alright.” he nodded as he texted his brother to come if he wanted to get food with him.
Clay came out a minute later. He was grinning from ear to ear. “Dude, fucking guess what!” he said excitedly.
“What?” Jack asked.
“I met Margot Robbie!” his younger brother said.
“No you didn't.” he laughed in disbelief.
“I fucking swear. Rubí was there. She was doing this like sit-down with Aspen. She even mentioned you and 'Side Piece'.” Clay explained.
“Yeah, she called him adorable.” Rubí nodded, backing him up.
“Penny took a picture of us.” He showed his older brother the picture of him with the iconic actress
“You look goofy as hell man,” Jack frowned.
Clay stuck his tongue out. “You’re just jealous I met her before you did.”
Jack ignored his brother. He was quiet for a second. Then he unbuckled himself and got out of the car. “I gotta talk to Aspen.”
“Jack, I don’t think–”
Before Rubí could finish what she was going to say, Jack was already in the building. He went towards the dressing room with Aspen’s name on the plaque and knocked. He wiped the sweat off his hands and took a deep breath.
“Rubí, I–Jack.” Aspen said.
“Hey, can we talk? I know you’re busy, but if I don’t get this out now…”
“Come in.” she moved aside for him to go into her dressing room.”
A quiet bark came from the couch. Jack turned his head and spotted a puppy rottweiler wrapped up in the blanket he got Aspen in the
“You got a dog?” he asked her.
“No, I did the buzzfeed puppy interview and they said I could play with him while they finished cleaning and all that.” Aspen explained, picking up the puppy and kissing his head. “His collar says Billy but he responds to Pablo, so I’m calling him Pablito.”
Jack knelt in front of them and stretched his hand out to the puppy. It sniffed his hand hesitantly, but then it nuzzled its head against his hand. Jack gave the puppy a few head scratches, but then it pulled away and laid its head on Aspen’s lap. He looked at Aspen and smiled to himself.
For as long as he knew Aspen, he’s known she wanted a dog.
Her dad, Vincente, was allergic to dogs, so her family never got on growing up. Her sisters once dog-sat for their neighbor while they went on vacation to make sure their dad was actually allergic. He was and they had to take care of their neighbors’ dog at her house. When Aspen moved to LA, she was too busy to take care of one with school and her acting. On top of that, her apartments in LA and Louisville had a no pets rule.
“What was it that you needed to talk about with me?” Aspen asked Jack while scratching Pablito’s tummy.
“About what happened a few days ago…”
“You don’t have to explain yourself, Jack.” she began. “You were in your every right to do whatever you want with whoever. I would just appreciate a heads up so we don’t look stupid and people make comments. We have a contract to fulfill which is why I think we should just stick to that. Us getting involved outside of what we’re obligated to do contractually will just complicate things.”
“Oh.” Jack said, softly.
“Yeah, like, why complicate this. We’re only going to be doing this until May.” she said.
There was a knock coming from the dressing room. Jack let out a shaky breath and nodded.
“Come in.” Aspen said.
“Hi, the shelter people want the puppy back.” one of the production assistants said, nodding their head towards Pablito.
“I’ll take him. I have to get going.” Jack offered. He saw how Aspen teared up. He knew she was going to be a crying mess.
“Bye buddy.” she whispered, trying her best to keep it together. “You’re a good boy and whoever adopts you is going to have the best puppy.”
“C’mon, bro.” Jack said, scooping up the puppy.
He followed the assistant to where the truck where the dog shelter was transferring all the puppies back to the shelter. Pablito whined when Jack handed him back to one of the volunteers. Its cries got louder when it was placed in the kennel with the other puppies.
Jack found himself asking, “Is there a way for me to adopt the dog right now? Or do I go to the shelter and do everything there?”
*
The night before was Aspen's movie premiere and it was a huge success. She and Jack made their red carpet debut. They took a few pictures before Jack got out of the red carpet so Aspen could have the spotlight and answer some questions. She took pictures with the rest of the cast. Someone even got a video of Jack taking pictures of Aspen while she walked the red carpet and he went from white boy of the month to IG boyfriend status. He even posted a picture of him and Aspen 'throwing up the 'L'' to his IG story. They left soon after and went to have dinner at a diner. And now they were at the Kia Forum for Jack's performance.
For the most part her and Jack acted normal around each other. There was obvious tension between them that other’s picked up on, but no one questioned them about it. His team didn’t say anything when Aspen wanted to go watch Jack from the audience because that’s usually where she watched him from.
That being said, she didn’t like the view from where she was standing and decided to backstage with the others. Jack was going on in a few minutes so she had to book it. She was in such a hurry to get to the other side that she didn’t see this freakishly tall figure and ended up bumping into the tall body and fell.
“Shit, sorry.” she said, dusting herself off.
“Hi, I’m Yung Gravy.” the tall person said.
Aspen gave him a forced smile. She knew about him. Before he went through his milf era with that one tiktoker’s mom, he was fixated on her. He pulled a Jack and wrote a song about her called ‘Aspen Peña’. Though unlike her fake boyfriend’s, this guy’s song wasn’t as catchy. In Aspen’s opinion it was a bit weird, so she was thankful that he moved on to older women. She also didn’t like that he only included one of  her last names when she used both.
“Hi, I, uh, gotta get going.” she said, bending down to pick up her Bottega Veneta mini cassette bag, gathering the few things that fell out since it didn’t have a flap or a zipper.
She made a face at the guy and walked away from him. She finally made it to the entrance and rummaged through her bag to find her ‘artist’s guest pass’ that Jack’s manager gave her. But then she remembered she was on a list because they asked her how she spelled her last name. His team explained that there was an incident with Pitbull and a fan back in Texas so the IHEARTRADIO people were increasing their security. They told her that when she showed her pass that the security would need to see her ID to make sure she’s on a list.
“No pass, no entry.” the security told her in a condescending tone.
“I lost my pass, but I’m on the list.” Aspen said, pointing to the clipboard.
The security sighed, “Name.”
“Aspen Peña-Moretti.” she said, pulling out her wallet to get her ID.
“Not on the list.” he said, not even glancing down at his clipboard.
“My boyfriend is Jck Har–”
“Do you know how many times people like you have said that to me today? A lot. I’m not gonna fall for some bullshit excuse like that. You don’t have a pass please step aside before I get someone else to escort you out of the premises.” he talked down to her like she was scum.
His demeanor changed when two tall blondes approached him, flashing a pass. He didn’t ask for their names to make sure they’re on a list, nor did he question why they only had one pass. He just let them go through.
Aspen sighed in frustration. ‘Tyler Herro’ started playing through the speakers, letting her know Jack’s set had already started. She pulled out her phone and texted everyone that was with Jack in hopes they could get her another pass or come and get her, vouching for her. But one one responded. It wasn’t until Jack called Lil Nas X to come join him on stage to perform ‘Industry Baby’ and made everyone cheer for Nas, thanking him for joining him on stage and the crowd for being amazing that Clay replied. He apologized profusely explaining that they couldn’t have their phones with the ringer on and that with the speakers being so loud he couldn’t feel his phone vibrate. He told her that he told Jack what happened with the security and that it would be resolved immediately.
Another security approached the one that was rude to Aspen. She didn’t hear what he told him, but he did hear Jack’s name. Clay came by a few minutes later and waved at her. The new security let her through without any hesitation.
As Aspen and Clay entered the trailer, they heard Jack's yelling. The two blondes that went in were sitting on a couch.
"Who the fuck are these people?" He yelled at the security guard that didn't let Aspen through.
"I don't…" he trailed off.
"You don't what? I didn't fucking hear you." Jack snapped.
"I don't know sir." He mumbled.
"So you're admitting to me that you let strangers into my trailer? As far as I’m aware your fucking job is to make sure random people don’t come into my fucking trailer and to make sure that people that are allowed to come in do! Why the fuck was my girlfriend not allowed in? She was on your fucking list!” Jack was livid. He was bright red and the vein on his neck was ready to explode.
“I’m sorry Mr. Har–”
“Don’t apologize to me. Apologize to my girlfriend. You humiliated her, not me. If you properly did your job, none of this would have happened.” he said. He turned to his team, nodding his head at the blondes and the security guard. “Get them out of my sight.”
*
Back at their hotel suite, Jack and Aspen haven’t spoken a word after what happened in his trailer. The security guard left and while Jack changed out of what he wore on stage, his team made the women sign NDAs so they wouldn’t go out and talk about how Jack yelled at a security guard.
Aspen was in her pj’s scrolling through the tv and waiting for room service as Jack showered. His team went out to dinner, but he wasn’t in the mood to go out and neither was Aspen.
There was a knock coming from the suite’s main door. Aspen got out of bed and grabbed her wallet.
“Room service.” the hotel worker said when she opened the door.
“Thank you so much, just leave it here.” she pointed at the table. She handed them a fifty as a tip and closed the door when they left.
Jack was coming out of the bathroom, drying his curls with a towel in only his boxers. “Was that the food?” he asked her.
“Yeah.” she nodded, averting her eyes from his boxer-briefs, but she watched him from one of the mirrors get a t-shirt and sweatpants from his suitcase.
Aspen really regretted telling Jack that they shouldn’t be doing anything physical anymore. She was still hurt about the whole situation with the woman from the Atlanta show, but obviously she couldn’t tell him that. At the end of the day it was for the best.
They both ate in silence with Bob’s Burgers playing in the background. When they finished eating, Jack took their plates and left them out for them to get picked up. Aspen took advantage and went to the bathroom to get ready for bed. She came out in one of Jack’s sweats that had their high school’s soccer logo on the side of the left thigh and cropped ribbed cami.
She got in bed just as Jack went to the bathroom to do his nighttime routine. He came out a few minutes later and settled in bed. He turned off the light and
“Aspen?” Jack said quietly, rolling onto his side to face her.
“Yeah?” she answered.
“I’m sorry for what the security did to you. You didn’t deserve it.” he said, tentatively reaching for her hand.
“Thanks, and thank you for defending me. You didn’t have to, but I appreciate it.” Aspen said.

They stayed quiet for a few moments, taking each other in. Jack was about to lean in for a kiss, but Aspen rolled to her back.

Somewhere after the movie
There were many things Lydia got from her little trip back to Beacon Hills, but the most important of them all was a lesson.
A lesson in holding on to the things and the people we love because it might be too late if we don’t.
It was hard to be back, especially after the past year. To go back on those streets, the same places and with the same people she grew up with… well, almost.
The most important person wasn’t there.
She knew that she was to blame for that, that maybe he didn’t want to go knowing that she’ll be there. She also knew how hard he worked, so maybe he just got caught up with a case and couldn’t find the time to drive down.
Either way, Stiles wasn’t there. And it felt wrong.
It felt wrong to be detectives without him, to tie a red string on a board and not have him fussing over it, tying it around his fingers anxiously as he tried to figure it out.
But that was her fault, too. It was she who left, her who put a stop to what they had because she was scared. Scared of a nightmare that felt too real not to pay it any mind. And, after her record, she didn’t want to risk it. Not when it came to Stiles. She lost him so many times already.
“Are you okay, Lyd?” Jackson asks. It’s been nice to have him around. The whole bringing-Allison-back thing was hard enough, she needed a support system if her usual one was gone.
She’s glad at least that worked out, and maybe it was seeing Scott and her best friend get back together as if no time had passed, or maybe it was the fact that she had to catch Allison up with everything she missed the past fifteen years, and the memory lane wasn’t a fun ride to go down.
“You don’t look surprised,” Lydia asked her best friend after she finished the re-cap of her story.
“About Stiles? How could I?” Allison laughed. “Lyds, you kept denying it but I could see it from a mile away. Besides, I do remember that kiss. Even with everything that was going on, you two… you were meant to be.”
The words still play in her head now as Jackson waves his hand in front of her.
“Sorry, what were you saying?” Lydia asks, turning to face him. He just rolls his eyes in annoyance. He really became a totally different person after he left Beacon Hills, but Lydia thinks he likes it better like this, funnily enough.
“You need to talk to him,” Jackson blurts out.
“Talk to who?” She frowns.
“Oh, come on, you’re the smartest woman in the world, I’m pretty sure you can figure that one out.”
“I—I can’t, Jackson. I can’t go back. I don’t even know if he still—“
“This is Stiles we’re talking about. The guy’s been in love since… what, eighth grade?”
“Third, actually—“
“Even better! Trust me, he’s not… he’s still in love with you. It would be stupid of him not to.”
“I just don’t think it’s fair. After all, it was me who left without a warning,” she sighs.
“Fine, then wait until the next supernatural crisis hits and we can all come back here and make it awkward like Malia and Scott! What the fuck happened between those two, anyway?”
“Beats me…” Lydia says.
“I’m just saying, I think you should call him. Or show up at his doorstep and tell him what happened. He’d do that for you.”
And Jackson is right about that, Stiles would do that for her. He’d do anything for her. Once, after they moved to San Francisco, her bosses were being dicks and not giving her enough credit and he actually conducted an investigation that got them in trouble for neglecting their workers.
“I’ll see what I do, but thanks for coming and… for everything else,” she hugs him. It’s time for him to catch his plane back to London.
“Of course, but remember—“
“No word of this to Ethan. Got it,” she chuckles. “Have a safe flight!”
“Call him!” Is the last thing he says before he closes the door and heads inside the airport. Lydia sighs and holds the steering wheel harder, thinking.
When she closes her eyes, he sees the dream again, so clearly, so vividly, Stiles on the floor, glass shattered all around him, and the car on fire. He’s not breathing, and all Lydia can do is scream, but nobody hears her.
She shakes her head and starts driving back to San Francisco. It’s gonna be a long ride, but she hopes that she’s made a decision by the end of it.
(…)
There are few things Lydia missed about using her powers again, but the random blackouts weren’t one of them.
That’s the only possible reason she can think of as to why she’s parked her car in front of Stiles’ apartment. Or maybe it was just muscle memory.
Or both.
Call him.
“Fuck it.” She says and she gets out of the car, trying to make herself look presentable as if Stiles hadn’t seen her at her worst. As if he hadn’t loved her even when she was locked up in an asylum, with her head drilled open.
As she heads to the door, her heart starts to beat way too quickly for comfort.
Maybe this is a horrible idea. Perhaps she should’ve called. What if he’s not home? What if he’s got someone over? She probably should’ve texted first to make sure he didn’t hate her.
“Lydia?”
She doesn’t even get to ring the doorbell.
But, of course, he must’ve felt the red string of fate pulling as she got closer.
“Hi,” her voice barely comes out, which is funny for a Banshee. “I—“
“Oh, my God,” he drops the bags he was carrying and walks to her to hug her so tightly she can barely breathe. “You’re okay, thank God.”
She doesn’t know what to say, how to act. It takes her a few seconds to hug him back, too startled. But this is the place she belongs in: his arms.
“Scott texted and… I didn’t know you’d be going back, too. Beacon Hills was—“
“It was Allison, of course, I went back,” Lydia says. “It was… weird being there without you, you know? We all missed you, I missed you.”
“Did you?” He asks, and Lydia knows that he has every right to be defensive, but she doesn’t want him to be.
“Of course, I did. I—“ she sighs. “Listen, can we talk? Upstairs, maybe? Or if you don’t want to, I can come back another day or we can meet up somewhere else that doesn’t feel so personal, or you can tell me to get the fuck out and—“
“I would never do that,” he says, and it hurts that Lydia knows. Even when she’s hurt him so many times, he still wouldn’t. “Let me—I was on my way to take out the trash, so let me do that and then you can come up, sure.”
“Cool, yeah, sure, do you need any help with that?” She asks, pointing at the bags, but he shakes his head, smiling slightly.
“Wouldn’t want you to stain those boots. They’re your favorite, aren’t they? Or maybe you got a new favorite pair now.”
“I don’t,” she says, maybe a bit too quickly. The fact that he remembers makes something warm burn inside her. The same fire that’s been burning for over fifteen years and didn’t die even when they were apart.
She watches him go down the stairs to the bins down the street and come back with his checkered pajama bottoms and a plain white t-shirt that Lydia knows he loves to sleep in.
It feels like nothing has changed except it has. Many things have changed. Dead people aren’t dead anymore and people who weren’t dead before, are.
“Alright, let’s go?” He asks once he gets back to her, and she just shyly nods before she follows him inside.
She knows the way to his apartment by heart, and could probably get there with her eyes closed if she wanted to, but she enjoys the sight of him. His hair is a bit longer, much like it was when they were in high school.
She feels like she just jumped on a time machine and they’re back to the days when discovering dead bodies around their town was the norm. Well, he still kind of does, but he always said it wasn’t as fun without the rest of the pack.
“Welcome. I’m sorry about the mess, I wasn’t really… expecting anyone,” he chuckles, scratching the back of his neck as he moves to the side to allow Lydia to walk in.
The fact that it still looks exactly the same as the last time she was here gives her a bit of whiplash. Only the pictures of them two are gone, but Lydia doesn’t blame him for that.
At least the ones of the whole pack are still there.
“It’s okay, I’m used to your mess,” she smiles a bit, hoping it wasn’t too much for her to say.
“Yeah, after hanging out in my teenage bedroom, I’d say you’re good,” he chuckles as well and closes the door behind her.
It’s a bit awkward as they sit on the couch in silence, and Lydia is starting to second-guess coming here in the first place.
“What did you want to talk about?” He eventually asks, and Lydia is surprised that she founds herself at a loss for words. That’s never happened before.
“I… These few days have been very intense. Going back there, seeing all the people from our past… Allison coming back and losing Derek was very hard. It showed me the importance of not holding anything back because it might be too late.” She looks down at her hands as she starts fidgeting with her fingers nervously. She always does that.
“Hey, Lyd? It’s alright,” he reaches over and holds her hand the same way he always did. The same way he used to unwrap the colored strings they used for their detective maps, the same way he did when he put a ring on her finger. A ring she left behind when she left.
“Is it, though? Don’t you hate me even a little bit?” She asks, now turning to look at him. “Because, trust me, I do. I hate myself. I hate myself for leaving you like that, but I didn’t have a choice,” she says. “I— I’m sorry that I left like that, so suddenly and without explaining. I couldn’t—“
“Do you want to explain it now?” He asks, as gentle as usual, just as patient.
“I had a nightmare one night… we were driving somewhere and suddenly, it all turned black, there was a crack on the window, and you… you were on the floor, surrounded by glass and I couldn’t move. I couldn’t reach you, but you weren’t breathing.” She gulps. “And I know that I’ve had nightmares before, we both have, but—It kept happening, every night I dreamed the same thing until the point where I didn’t know if it was a dream or if it was a premonition.”
“Well, I’m not dead, am I?” He asks.
“You’re not, because I left. I was there in the dream, so I thought that… if I left, then—“
“You have to be kidding me,” he says, standing up. “Lydia Martin, you—“
“I couldn’t lose you, okay? Not like that! I—I couldn’t face you dying, Stiles. I’m sorry, I know it was selfish, but I just—I couldn’t be the reason why you died.”
“So losing me anyway was the best idea you had? Why didn’t you tell me?!”
“Because I was scared! I was terrified of triggering it, so I just—“ she sighs. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come. I had no business stirring up the past like that, you—you never deserved it.” She stands up and starts to head for the door.
“Hey, hey, hold on, I never said that,” he reaches out to stop her, grabbing her arm. “I’m just saying… Lydia, I’ve been in love with you since the third grade. Even when you barely acknowledged my existence, I loved you. Did you really think that I stopped?”
“You should have,” Lydia says with a bitter laugh.
“Yeah, well, I also should have stayed home that night that Scott got bitten, I should have studied more for my exams instead of going around the woods every night, and I should have made sure to keep my Jeep in top-tier condition so it wouldn’t keep breaking, I should have done many things, but we all know I never was too good at doing what I should, was I?” He says, a smile on his face. “So, tell me, Lydia, why did you actually come here? Just to tell me that? So that I could… find closure and move on?”
“I came because I missed you. Because being back in Beacon Hills without you felt wrong and made me realize how much I wished that I’d stayed. How much I regretted letting that nightmare drive me away from the only thing that I’ve ever had. You—You’re the love of my life, Stiles. And every second I’ve spent without you has been torture.”
“I’d say we’ve both been tortured enough in the past, haven’t we?” And with a swift pull, Lydia finds herself colliding against his chest. “Let’s stop that,” he says before he presses their lips together.
And even though she’s been back in Beacon Hills, this is her true Homecoming. She wraps her arms around Stiles’ neck and deepens the kiss, making up for all the time they lost.
“I love you so much,” she whispers against his lips, feeling her own tears rolling down her face.
“And I love you,” Stiles says back with a smile. “Next time you have a nightmare, tell me about it instead of taking off in the middle of the night, yeah?”
“I’ll try. If I don’t, come find me.”
“Alright, deal.” And he kisses her again, and again, and again, for all the times he couldn’t, for all the nights he wished she was still in her arms, for all the minutes of the day he’s spent thinking about her since he left.
And, when they find their way back to bed, Stiles gets a box out of his bedside table and hands it to her.
“You kept it?” Lydia’s eyes open wide when she sees the ring.
“Always kept hoping you’d come back,” he admits, sliding the ring on her finger and kissing it after. “I’m glad I was right.”
“I am, too.”
And the world might still be a freaky place with werewolves, banshees, kitsunes, nogitsunes, dark druids, and people coming back from the dead, but in their little bubble, it’s just them.
It’s always been just them.

Scott McCall Week 2023: Day 7, dealers choice
|| for @scottappreciation event
|| talking to Alison — posted on my ao3 | 900+ word count
|| tags : grief/mourning, mentions of past alison/scott & alison’s death, set between s5e8 & s5e9
Scott trudges his way down the stairs of his house, they feel longer than they ever have, going on for hours until his socked feet finally hit the bottom. The hardwood is cold and smooth, it’s easier to move on it, to slide towards the couch. Melissa’s sitting peacefully reading a book and while normally Scott would go over to the kitchen or turn the Tv on before joining her, he skips all that.
“Hey sweetheart.” The cushions are soft and comfortable as they always have been, it’s the same couch the McCalls have had since Scott was born. He hums to his mother as his back sinks into the back of the couch.
“I heard you talking upstairs, was it Stiles?” She’s probably thinking back to freshman and sophomore year when they’d talk nonstop for hours on end every day even if they had just seen each other at school. That was before things got so complicated and so many people moved in and out of Scott’s life.
“I was talking to Alison.” He can hear how his mothers breath hitches ever so slightly and she sets her book down. It’s almost been a full year since Alison died, nobody has talked to Scott about her, they all walk on egg shells and skitter around the topic. He knows why, and most days he appreciates it, but not today. Today he wishes Chris was here to talk to about her and look at old photos and laugh about old story’s, but he’s not here and neither is Isaac, who would’ve been Scott’s second choice to talk about Alison with. Despite all the relationship overlap they experienced, Scott knows that’d never stop Isaac from letting Scott ramble about his late girlfriend.
“You were?” Melissa asks hesitantly, Scott nods. He’s so tired lately, between the asthma coming back, Deaton being missing, the whole pack feeling distant, the ever growing fear that the dread doctors will show back up, Scott’s drained of all his energy and only growing more and more weak as the days pass.
“I miss her.” It’s so much more than that. He could write a million words about how he longs for Alison to be back, how even after they broke up he never stopped loving her, how he wakes up almost nightly to the image of her bleeding out in his lap.
“I know Scott, I know.” Melissa’s arms wrap around Scott’s shoulders from the side and her head leans against him, it’s a motherly hug, one that always seems to come out when Alison is involved. Their first break because her family was trying to kill him, again when Alison was being controlled by her grandfather, when they really broke up, when he found out Isaac and Alison were dating, when she died, after her funeral, and any other time after that when Alison’s brought up. He’s used to the feeling of this hug, it’s safe and familiar, but it doesn’t fix the ever growing empty space in Scott’s chest.
“I lied to you.” His chest heaves under the long breath he lets out, fingers twitching on the couch incase he has to grab the inhaler tucked into his sweatpants pocket. Melissa’s head pulls back just enough for her to look at him, she gives a quizzing expression before he continues.
“I told you that I’m my own anchor now, that I have been since me and Alison broke up. I lied. I was for a little while, but then she…” he can’t get the words out, still, “and now she’s my anchor again.” Scott’s mouth feels dry and scratchy when the words finish.
“Oh baby…” There’s nothing else for Melissa to say, Scott knows that too, knows her breath hitch and her side hug and her lack of words, he knows a lot. He can’t blame his mother for being at a lack of words, he wouldn’t know what to say either.
“Things were better when she was here, I miss her, I want her back.” It was never perfect when Alison was alive, far from it actually, but it was better. Scott at least had someone he could rely on, really rely on, even when Gerard was dictating what Alison did, she was there for Scott in certain ways. He needs that right now, someone in his corner.
“I’m so sorry Scott, I know it’s hard.” He nods to his mother’s gentle voice because he knows, this is all she can think to say. There is no training on what to say when your sixteen year old son had his girlfriend die in his arms because of supernatural creatures.
“I think I’m going to take ride down to the cemetery.” Technically Chris had Alison cremated so he could take her with him wherever he went, but he still bought a plot in the Beacon Hills cemetery for the kids to go visit, and to leave respect to her. Scott goes there more times than he tells anyone, he talks to her there, brings her flowers, candy, letters, updates her on all the supernatural things going on in the town, on the latest “normal people drama” as they used to call it when she was still brushing her hands through Scott’s hair in her bedroom. He thinks tonight he’ll pick up some of her favorite candy before heading over, she’d smile at him if he could see her face. He misses that smile.

Heya guys! ya'll are awesome by the way :) I'm pretty sure this hasn't been asked yet, but could you find some Sterek fics where either Stiles or Derek wear glasses and the other finds it really attractive, please? :D
Sure!

A Bite by FairyNiamh
(1/1 I 408 I Teen)
It was only a cake, how bad could a bite be?
Eye of the Beholder by TricksterShi
(1/1 I 3,941 I Teen)
"When was the last time you had an eye exam?"
A simple question leads to some lingering body issues Stiles has to wrestle with but, in the end, Derek proves Stiles has nothing to worry about when it comes to what he looks like through Derek's eyes.
First Date (Queer Your Coffee, Part Two) by alisvolatpropiis
(1/1 I 4,791 I Explicit)
“Holy fuck,” Derek whispers when finally sees Stiles’ cock. It’s gorgeous, long and thick with a big head, which is pierced, the tip shiny and wet. He should have expected it really, the piercing, a prince albert he thinks it’s called, not sure because he’s never seen one, never knew how fucking hot it could be. There are two balls just like the ones in Stiles’ tongue, one nestled in his pretty little slit, the other tucked under the crown of his head, joined by a slightly curved bar under the skin. Derek swallows hard and his mouth fills with hot saliva, one hand going to his own cock, shoving his boxer briefs down his thighs in a rush. He wants to stroke himself, but the thought of that piercing on his tongue, against his throat, fuck, in his ass, has him dangerously close to coming untouched, so he grips the base hard instead, staving it off.
Stiles purrs. “See something you like, big guy?”
Stiles Stilinski, Boyfriend Extraordinaire by MereLoup
(4/4 I 14,429 I General)
“Beacon County Sheriff's Department, this is deputy Mahealani speaking.”
“Oh thank god!”
“Stiles?”
“I, uh, I need some advice.”
“Advice?”
“Yeah. So, hypothetically, say you met your boyfriend’s mother and sister for the first time ever. Completely by accident. In the grocery store. And they convinced you to help them make a dinner to surprise aforementioned boyfriend when he got home after work. What would you do?”
Danny paused, and then, “Stiles, you don’t have a boyfriend.”
“That’s not the point! And I said hypothetically.”
“Stiles...what are you doing right now?”
***
Stiles never imagined he’d be in Derek’s kitchen cooking a surprise dinner with Derek’s family while they waited for Derek to get home from work.
Partly because their visit was a complete surprise.
But mostly because Stiles didn’t have a boyfriend.
Or even know who Derek was.
But he’d already come this far and Papa didn’t raise no quitter!
no aphrodisiac like loneliness by thepsychicclam
(1/1 I 19,705 I Explicit)
Stiles is 27 now, with a master’s degree and a career and a house and a serious boyfriend and a life in San Francisco that doesn't include Derek. But then Stiles unexpectedly shows back up in Beacon Hills, and Derek would recognize that scent anywhere.
Falling down like dominoes by allofspace
(7/7 I 21,666 I Teen)
Stiles has just started a new job, uprooting his life (new city, new apartment) to finally put his degree to good use. Aside from the hot brooding guy who refuses to smile at him, and his creepy cubicle-mate, the people are great, especially his new BFF Allison. Scott may or may not be taking their separation horribly.
10 Things I Hate (love) About You by catsteww
(1/1 I 31,153 I Teen)
When Kate Argent hires Stiles to date Derek and get paid for it, Stiles obviously agrees and sets out to win his heart. Except Stiles wasn't expecting Derek to actually have layers underneath his tough exterior, and he certainly wasn't expecting to develop pesky little feelings for him. And everything gets a little messed up along the way.
Lightly based on the movie.
If You Wanna Be My Roomie (Lover) by orphan_account
(23/23 I 65,056 I Explicit)
Realistically, Stiles knew that the local University's popularity and commonality meant that many members of his graduating high school class would be starting the Fall 2016 semester alongside him, but he never expected his longtime crush to be one of them. Even more so, he never expected said crush to be assigned as his roommate...oh boy.
I Wish He Was Mine, He's Really Divine by yodasyoyo
(24/24 I 87,706 I Teen)
Derek has been pining for Stiles Stilinski for years. He never thought he'd actually be in with a chance, but all that's about to change.
OR: Very slow build Sterek, with nerd!Derek, sort of badboy!Stiles, plenty of pining and a Kira/Derek friendship for the ages.

I started watching TW season one again (the only one I actually watched so far 😂) and once again I'm just amused by the plotholes and discrepancies and things they show or say once and never refer to or use again, as well as the technical side of camera shots and cgi - and I'm only in episode 5 so that's a record if you ask me. (Nevermind that me picking at threads already started with eposiode 1 😂)
Disclaimer: As I said I've never watched that much of the actual series even if I steal the characters to write! Also I'm definitely biased due to the fandom, wiki entries I read and so on. So take all this with a grain of salt! It's mostly stuff I was amused by so if I have it wrong - well. I have it wrong, I guess.
Anyway. On to my observations: (this got long, so I hid them under the readmore)
Sorry to all the people who like scott, but... he's so boring <.< WHY is that guy the main character? EVERYONE else would be more interesting just from a storytelling point of view! Give me Finnstock, Danny, the Sherrif, or any of the other main cast and just get rid of Scott as main POV <.< please.
It's so funny that they tried to make it some kind of horror tv show. I actually recognize classical horror movie scenes, camera shots that should invoke a certain fear or surprise but they somehow manage to put it in such a context that I laugh because I recognize what they want to do and it just doesn't work. Might be a me-problem because I like watching horror films, but... it's still very sad.
Stiles says he once had a boa. I asked the internet and it told me boas in zoos can get about 28 years old... Stiles is 16. Stiles... Stiles, what did you do with your boa?... STILES....
The scene where Stiles and Scott talk through video chat (and is that AOL? Those were AOL-icons... was AOL still alive in 2011? <.<) and Derek stands behind Scott... it's just... why did Scott stare at the screen instead of turning around? Nevermind that he read what Stiles was writing out loud and that Stiles's message was written in such large letters that probably anybody standing 5 miles away could have read it - nevermind the guy Stiles thought was standing behind Scott. Also: why did Derek just... stand there. Especially once he was sure he'd been seen...? I know that's also one of the Horror-esque scenes I mentioned but the timing of it all was so bad! (also also: Scott is just stupid <.<)
They use this weird alternative 'sight' for werewolves in the beginning (the scenes colored in red) and it feels like they use that in the first few episodes and never again after that <.<
Another weird scene: The game where Scott wolfs out and Jackson stays back and finds Scott's glove with holes where Scotts claws came out. I just... have so many questions... 1) Why did Jackson stay back after not only his own WINNING team but also the audience, the enemy team, coach finnstock and ANYONE ELSE who was probably assigned to clean up the field? He even was still in his own lacrosse gear so he stood back to take up a glove a person who'd cleaned up the field should have taken with them?... 2) Why the fuck was Derek staring at him? <.<... or rather, why was he staring at him for so long so Jackson even looked at him? Did Derek even see the whole game? Why did he let Jackson see him? It's not like he tried to scare him into staying silent, for that his staring wasn't nearly scary enough <.<... it's just... another weird composition. Especially since Jackson and Derek have nothing to do with each other <.<...
Scotts dream where he killed Allison in the bus that mimicked how Peter/the Alpha killed the bus driver. Even though later it comes out that he was there and tried to keep the Alpha from killing the guy, this dream is just one instance where they try to 'show' Scott's 'connection' with the Alpha. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the connection he has with Peter is the one and only time we see such a connection between an Alpha and a Beta, I think. I mean the whole "I dream of things the Alpha did" and the whole not remembering/blacking out due to instincts and Alpha?
Also, Scott was apparently was hurt/slashed by the Alpha's claws. How come that wound was healed the next morning? I thought wounds caused by an Alpha heal slower? <.< or is that a fandom thing? <.<
I want to hug Derek. Hard. Poor boy drives to a town he got traumatized in to help his sister/Alpha where she ALSO gets killed and all those stupid teenies do is blame him for her death, for their problems and for anything else the new Alpha did - especially the other killings - so he gets locked up by the Sherrif and when he gets out that stupid pup has the gall to search him out just to - again - blame him for all of his problems and even for the death of his sister and the bus driver <.<...
On that note: I think Derek said he came to find his sister/meet his sister. To me it sounded in that moment as if he hadn't known she was dead when he arrived and that confuses me...
Also: shouldn't he also have a connection/pack bond with the Alpha if he wants to or not? Or does a pack just fall apart when the old Alpha dies until they've submitted to the new one? <.< And doesn't that mean that Derek's currently a packless Omega? <.<...
Aaand there's another horror film track shot classic that sends the camera from Derek and Scott to the outside of the Hale house where the Alpha is waiting/his eyes are glowing in the dark. ... So why didn't the Alpha go to them? Or did he just... sit there and stare at the house until Scott leaves? If the Alpha runs on instinct why didn't he try to get to Scott or Derek - especially after Scott left - when he is trying to get Scott and Derek to accept being part of his pack? <.<...
Kate drives into town without stopping and the Alpha attacks here somewhere in town. Close enough to Scotts home that he sees her shortly after she shoots her shotgun twice when the shots were what woke him up. 1) did the Alpha smell her through her car and the fumes? <.< 2) did he just stumble over her car while running through the town?? <.<... 3) if not, did he follow her from the outside into town? why didn't he attack her there instead of somewhere quieter? <.<...
I'm still confused by the whole Derek clawed Jackson in the neck and it did something to Jackson-stuff. Especially because Derek's not an Alpha yet <.<...
And finally just a quote from Derek that amused me for potential fanfic reasons when Scott asks why Derek can't just track the Alpha as a human: "Beause his human scent could be entirely different" <.<

Lol @ the people saying you're "bringing race into fandom". Transports me right back to 11th grade English when our teacher (instead of sacrificing us to the Nemeton) tried to teach us about analyzing race in popular media texts like Disney movies, and everyone in the class (bar myself and like 3 other people who had brains) started going on about how the critics she was having us read/watch were "bringing race into it". Like come on. This is grade school level theory. Read a book, people.
Tumblr media
You want to know how I know that race is involved in the Sterek fandom?
Isaac Lahey.
(Before anyone gets upset, I appreciate Isaac's character as much as I appreciate Derek's and Stiles's characters, which is quite a bit.)
Let's review. Isaac is indeed abused and terrorized by his father, the same way Scott is abused and terrorized by Peter. Isaac threatens Stiles and bullies Stiles and Jackson far more than Scott "mistreats" Stiles and Jackson. He makes fun of Stiles and refuses to listen to him. Isaac resists Derek's teaching, to the point that Derek hurts him to teach him a lesson (the same way Derek hurts Scott to teach him a lesson). Isaac dates a hunter, Allison, and follows her through the woods and sneaks into her house. Isaac learns from Alan Deaton. Isaac refuses to be a part of the Hale Pack, like Scott does, but unlike Scott, he originally agreed to take the Bite and join the pack. In the end, he leaves Beacon Hills with Chris Argent, an actual hunter without a single word to either his alpha or his former-alpha.
So where the hell are all the Bad Friend Isaac stories?
I mean, if the nearly two-thousand tagged Bad Friend Scott Stories and the ten times as many stories that write Scott as a Bad Friend but don't label it are a result of Scott's on-screen behavior, then shouldn't there be at least a thousand stories that deal with Isaac in the same way? I would confidently estimate that there are less than a hundred. I can say with less confidence that there are less than fifty. There are even less that turn him into an antagonist or even a villain who must be punished, deprived of freedom, or murdered. I doubt you would break ten.
So what's the deal? If this has nothing to do with race and Sterek stories just require a bad-friend antagonist or an ineffectual villain, then it stands to reason that Isaac would sometimes fill that role, doesn't it?
Of course, their answer is that they don't like Scott, and I agree they have a right not to like Scott. But the funny thing is they won't -- they can't -- explain why they don't like Scott. It can't be because he acts as a selfless hero, because so do Derek and Stiles. It can't be because he says mean things to Derek, because they don't have any problem liking Isaac or Peter or Stiles. It can't be because he never listens to Stiles, because since when does any character always listen to Stiles? It can't be because he's in a problematic heterosexual relationship, because they don't have any problem with Isaac's or Derek's or Stiles's problematic heterosexual relationships.
And so on and so forth.
It's not just because he's the lead protagonist, because Scott being the Teen Wolf offers no obstacle at all to a Sterek relationship. He canonically loved both Stiles and Derek, and they loved him in return. But what Scott being the lead protagonist proves an obstacle for is either Stiles or Derek actually being the lead protagonist. The show was built around a Latino character and not the two white characters that this fandom has conjured a whole relationship about.
It's not -- nor has it ever been -- about what happened on the screen that causes people to dislike Scott. It's been about what didn't happen on the screen. Derek and Stiles had nearly ten times the amount of pre-canon flashbacks than Scott did, but that's not enough. You never saw Scott taking a few days or weeks off to contemplate his place in the world while sad classical music played in the background, but that's not enough. Melissa and Deaton always told Scott how he could be a better werewolf instead of getting his parking tickets erased or told that the easiest way to forgive himself is to forgive someone who didn't do anything to him, but that's not enough. Scott never got to beat Derek up because his decisions in Season 2 ruined his relationship with Allison, not the way Stiles got to hit Scott for his father getting hurt, but that's not enough. For as much as these white male characters received in terms of story, they still weren't the lead protagonist, and this creates the only explanation for the profound animosity which they exhibit toward Scott, one which they will claim the right to have but also feel they never ever have to explain. In addition, there is only one thing, no matter how much they can't say, that we must always remember.
BUT IT'S NOT RACISM.

100 Fics for A 100 Followers😍 (61-70)
When the Dust Has Settled by halcyon1993 - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 92446, sterek)
After Gerard’s defeat, no one is sure where they stand. Stiles is angry at Scott and doesn’t know why his head is suddenly filled with thoughts of Derek Hale. Derek doesn’t know why Scott’s betrayal isn’t as painful as the prospect of Stiles being in on it. As they ignore their developing feelings for each other, a freshly resurrected Peter Hale schemes to get them together. No one ever said he’d go easy on them, though. After all, where would be the fun in that?
Love Runs Wild by DevilDoll - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 9494, sterek)
"You've got a hickey on the back of your neck!" A Neckz 'n Throats story.
You Smell Like Mine by bleep0bleep, marguerite_26 - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 13420, sterek)
People talk about the alpha instinct, an alpha's head being swayed by a nice-smelling omega, or the desire to drop everything and show off. Derek's never felt any of that. He's just not that kind of alpha.
Then he meets Stiles.
Sex Pollen by BeniMaiko - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 3103, sterek)
The sex pollen almost makes them do it, and then it does.
Gorgeous by Asterekmess (Livinginfictions) - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 6390, sterek)
Derek didn’t actually notice anything strange until the middle of the pack’s second year, but once he realized how many layers of clothing Stiles wore all the time, he couldn't stop noticing it. Curiosity and worry ate away at him every time the weather turned warm, until he felt he had to do something about it.
Lemon & Ginger by kaistrex (weishen) - (Rating: T, Words: 2520, sterek)
“Is—Is he my—” The word dies in his throat.
“How did you not know?” Laura screeches and Derek feels his hackles rise, defensive.
“Wha—Bu—But he smells good to everyone!”
“Not that good,” Cora scoffs.
“Yeah, not good enough to hump him over it.”
“I didn’t hump—”
“You kinda did,” Stiles agrees, scratching at the back of his head. “Though I can’t say I minded.”
-
A new tea shop has opened in Beacon Hills, and Laura drags Derek along so he can try the incredible, memory-evoking drinks for himself. He’s soon going back for more, but is it because of the tea, or the owner?
The Walls Are Breathing In by secondstar - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 41879, sterek)
Nothing could go wrong. It was just supposed to be a safe trip to the Nemeton. But this is Beacon Hills and things are rarely that simple. Welcome to the life of Stiles Stilinski.
Or, that time that Stiles accidentally became a sorcerer against his will.
Howl by midnitekween - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 116731, sterek)
A wolf pack is surprisingly a lot like a mafia family...
To See With Eyes Unclouded by mikkimouse - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 47770, sterek)
Cursed by a dying god, Derek seeks help from the great wolf Satomi. She lifts the curse with a Bite, but Derek can never leave the forest, lest the curse return.
Taken in by Satomi's small pack, Derek finds himself learning more about the forest and navigating an antagonistic relationship with Stiles, Satomi's only human child.
But darkness encroaches at their borders as the humans of Irontown delve deeper into the forest in their quest for iron, and the bad blood between the wolves and the humans threatens to breach the point of no return.
And Derek may well be the only one who can pull them back from the brink.
I Believe You by kits_lightning - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 747, sterek)
What if the Sheriff was the parent that Stiles lost and his mother never got sick?
This is based pretty much at the beginning Season 1 of the show.

my top 10 favorite steter fics
okay so steter is like, my favorite teen wolf ship, so i totally have more than 10. sorry, not sorry. i have 130 bookmarked steter fics 🥲 READ THE TAGS WHEN YOU CLICK!! if you have one that’s not on this list, feel free to leave a comment! i’ll read pretty much anything i can get my hands on
1. As Gunpowder Needs War
author: laisserais
description
AU where Stiles's life follows a very different path, but he still runs into Peter Hale. He's seventeen when he's convicted of murder and sent to an adult prison. Guess who his new roommate is.
my opinion: I’ve recced this fic so many times to so many people. prison au’s have me in a chokehold, and i especially love this one. i’ve read it so many times, and if you’re into prison au’s, i can guarantee it doesn’t get much better than this.
2. Breathing You In
author: lavenderlotion
description
“Good morning, kiddo,” his dad said, and the words hurt.
All Stiles wanted to do was step forward and let his dad hug him, allow his father to give him comfort. His father's hugs had always been all-encompassing, the way he would fold himself around Stiles and hold him as tightly as he could.
Stiles stepped around him, careful not to let foreign skin touch anything that was special to him.
Anything he loved.
my opinion: this fic means the world to me. I'm not sure if it's on any of my other rec lists, but it absolutely should be. I don't even have words to describe it. it's one of those I just HAVE to reread every time I come across it
3. Do You Like to Hurt? (Then Hurt Me) (locked)
author: taylorpotato
description
Stiles shows up at Peter's apartment, drunk and horny. Peter almost does the right thing—before it all deteriorates into a voyeuristic power game and Stiles has a mind-shattering orgasm. Things snowball from there. Takes place after Season Three (with consequent canon divergence).
my opinion: omg any post nogitsune steter is my SHIT. there's nothing better. and this one scratches that itch SO well.
4. All We Have Left
author: Arvak
description
It's the anniversary of Laura's death and Peter's no where to be seen. Stiles tells Derek, but Sourwolf doesn't quite share his concerns. Finally, he gets a call late at night. Turns out, Peter's not missing - he's passed out over a toilet in a club, doped up on an unidentified drug, completely incapacitated and vulnerable. And, possibly strangest of all, Stiles is Peter's emergency contact...
The things Peter tells him while he's drugged up and sad make his heart ache. And, eventually, change his entire life.
---
"What happened?" Stiles asked quietly, devastation wracking his body. Looking down at Peter right now was like looking into a dirty hole in the ground and seeing this little puppy in there, messy and matted and malnourished and trapped, looking up at you with shame and exhaustion and pleading for you to save him.
A tear slipped down Peter's face and Stiles felt like he just got punched in the stomach. "Help me." That's all he said. Two simple words, and Stiles' entire world crumbled down around him, leaving only one thing left: this stubborn werewolf sitting in a disgusting bathroom in one of the sketchiest clubs in town, asking for his help.
my opinion: Peter in this fic is just everything to me. I love when Stiles is the one that has to take care of Peter just because I like a little human Peter now and then
5. Baby Whisperer
author: twothumbsandnostakeincanon (somanyofthekids)
description
“What. Is that.”
Scott looked up at him, apprehensive.
“Her name’s Lily.”
Stiles stared at the fuzzy head peeking out of the papoose.
“Her. Her name. That is a real live human baby. Oh my God-”
“Actually I don’t know if she’s human?” Scott said with a confused frown. “Becca didn’t say.”
“Who the fuck is Becca?!”
my opinion: OH MY GOD??? obviously we know that anything by twothumbsandnostakeincanon is gonna be good, but i come back to this fic so often. domestic steter with a kid? sign me tf up.
6. Vengeance Looks Good On You, Sweetheart
author: cywscross
description
Just because Scott refuses to see the Argents for what they truly are - prejudiced serial killers sitting proudly on a mountain of innocent corpses - doesn't mean Stiles will. It's about time someone did something about the Argent Empire anyway, and what a coincidence - summer vacation is just around the corner.
--
Or, the one where Gerard Argent kidnapped the wrong fucking person to torture. Stiles has never subscribed to the policy of forgiving and forgetting anyway, not when razing the problem to the ground and salting the earth for good measure has always been a far better solution in the long run.
He doesn't expect to have company.
my opinion: ALPHA STILES ALPHA STILES ALPHA STILES!!!! Alpha Stiles is my FAVORITE trope. by far. can't get enough of it. And this fic does it fantastically. I love morally grey stiles.
7. Written in Red
author: gryvon
description
Peter had given up hope of ever finding his soulmate until the red string on his finger leads him to a four-year-old. He's going to Hell. Or jail. Or both.
my opinion: I just love Peter's relationship with the adults in this fic. it makes me so happy when everyone lives and isn't an asshole. there's so many great things about it - I've read it 29 times according to ao3.
8. Dastardly by Design
author: gryvon
description
Peter thinks Stiles is in love with Derek. Peter is wrong.
my opinion: this fic has 3000 kudos and it needs a million more. everyone say thank you gryvon for the spectacular porn (and feelings ofc)
9. The Pack Makes the Alpha
author: iCheat
description
The Alpha pack are gone but they've left behind an abundance of Alpha's and no solid pack in Beacon Hills. Peter is the first Beta to align himself. Of course he chose the fifth option.
my opinion: again, Alpha Stiles!!! there's nothing better. I've always been a sucker for Stiles taking care of his Pack. if there was 100k more of this I'd read it
10. (baby) maybe that matters more
author: lavenderlotion
description
“Well, well, well,” drawls a familiar voice that Stiles hadn’t even considered he might ever hear again. “The token pack human, left all alone?”
my opinion: THIS ONE ISNT COMPLETED! BEWARE! I don't often read uncompleted fanfiction but lord this one just sucks you in. "taking care of stiles after Gerard beats him" is the BEST teenwolf trope. I've come back to it so many times because it's just that good.
and that's all for today folks! I hope you enjoy these as much as I did! I'll be doing more fic recs in the future so follow for more <3
