STAND UP. 2. at this point you can count the people who like sasuke on the fingers of one hand like WHO is gonna start a war over him… naruto out there moving a war against a whole country by himself over his bf ok you go girl i guess. after this it gets even worse like gaara has to go up to him and be like SASUKE DOWSNT CARE ABOUT YOU. HE DOES NOT WANT YOU. and naruto just slaps his hand away in front of his family like rude?????? ignoring anything it is hilariouuusssss and then sai is like sorry. sakura lied to you they are actually off to kill sasuke and naruto gets a panic attack so severe he passes out. like i am not joking it was so bad his friends tried to kill sasuke behind his back. and then naruto escapes bedriddenment (is that a word?) after passing out from his panic attack to run and make sure NOBODY kills sasuke. like he’s on a RUSH leaping those trees he’s a boy on a mission. then after he gets there he’s like kakashi DO NOT TOUCH HIM. they launch themselves at each other bla bla gay monologues did you see what was in my heart and then. and then naruto is like. wait sasuke. and sasuke waits like sorry that’s such a little thing but it’s so funny to me like sasuke was just acting a lil murderous crazy manic wtv but naruto told him to wait and he waits. ok good boyfriend. anyways moving on naruto is like do you get it sasuke. if we fight again we will BOTH DIE! Sasunaru Vampire au

Sasuke knows what it's like to starve. A byproduct of being a homeless orphan at the ripe old age of 12. He knows how it can feel like the lining of one's stomach has been scrubbed raw by a dull knife. How it burned and knotted and had bile crawling inch by inch up a person's throat. How that hollow burn would spread to every limb to weigh it down till lifting a finger felt like a task even Atlas couldn't carry. Walking was to feel like a marionette with frayed strings and worst of all was how at some point even the thought of food felt vile.

Being blood-starved seems to more or less feel the same. Or at least he assumed it would continue to be. It's been 9 days since he's been turned and 8 days since he's fed and he's yet to enter the stage of being too weak to move or walk so he likes to think he's doing quite well. Though he doesn't intend to ever feed at all so this slow pace towards his decided demise is just torture. He'd step into the sun himself but Naruto is watching him like a hawk in the daytime so there's no chance of attempting any form of suicide. Still, he knows from experience that lying down can make it feel worse so when he wakes at dusk after passing out a nap he steps out of his room to try and walk around the apartment for a bit before halting by the doorway to the living room, where he see's Naruto on the couch scouring over a very thick book on the coffee table with a cup and a knife placed on either side of it.

"Naruto, what are you doing?"

The blonde doesn't even bother raising his head, "Reading Anatomy."

Sasuke narrows his eyes, "Why?"

Naruto flips the page, "Trying to figure out which vein is the best to cut open to fill a cup of blood without making too much of a mess."

"What?!"

"Well, since you won't feed on me I figured maybe you'd feel better about drinking blood out of a cup. That or I could just force-feed it to you"

"I am never going to let you force-feed me blood," the Uchiha bit out hotly. Gritting his teeth when the blonde just replies with a shrug.

"I was going to do it the next time you passed out," Naruto finally raises his head, "Ya know, like how the last time you passed out it was for 3 whole days and by the fourth I thought you were going to die. Again."

His friend nonchalantly says it all but the memory of it makes Sasuke shrink back with guilt. Remembering how when he finally woke up it was to his best friend sobbing and whimpering his name by the edge of his bed.

"Naruto- ", he starts but his friend has already turned back to the book.

"Shut up. I'm reading," he snaps and Sasuke sighs.

"Naruto, I don't want this to be our new norm"

It's the blonde's turn to sigh and he raises his gaze but this time there is a softness in his cerulean blues, "Sasuke whatever norm we had before is already gone. I don't know about you but whatever new norm I’m going make now is going to include both of us."

"Naruto you still have a life outside of me! As a hunte-"

"No," Naruto cuts in, the edge of his words sharp, "That's not what I am anymore. If being a hunter means leaving you behind or hunting you down, then I'm not a part of that anymore. Sasuke even if you did somehow manage to leave me behind do you really think I'm just gonna go back to that? I can never go back to the life we had and I don't want to if it doesn't include you. So you can either make this-" he gestured to the book, knife, and cup, "-easy or I'm gonna have to get messy."

Naruto stares at him. Unwavering. Unflinching. Sasuke knows with complete and utter certainty that his best friend would follow him through the 7 rings of hell if he had to. His friend who'd been by his side when his parents died and when his brother disappeared. The little boy who'd split moldy bread in half with him on days when there was nothing else to eat and still do it with a smile. The teenager who followed after him when he joined the Hunters Guild because 'If anyone’s going to be your partner it's going to be me!'. The person who saw him get bit and chose to ignore almost a decade's worth of training and experience to drag him back to their home. Who sat outside his room for 2 days waiting for him to finish his change, hearing every wretched scream and howl of agony, and still immediately coming in after to hold him when he cried.

Fighting Naruto when he's made up his mind was a losing battle and he can't help but feel guilty at how the thought made something warm inside float him out of orbit.

It shouldn't be this easy but Naruto always had a way of making it so.

Finally, he approached the table and closed the book with a loud thump.

"We're going to make some rules first," he warns. Eyebrow raised when Naruto leaned back against the backrest with palpable relief.

"Thank God. I had no idea what I was doing"

here are some things that I couldn’t really understand but gave meaning to anyway. I scoured through the whole doujin with my pathetic japanese and can’t understand or see what the babies’ names are, sorry.

from right to left, my explanation on my incompetent attempt at translating this one page of this doujin:

panel 1, baby naruto: before you give me shit, baby naruto calls naruto kaachan (母ちゃん) which is closer to mommy.

panel 1, baby naruto: he said something about octopus (tako ・タコ), and naruto in the next panel has a sausage with one end cut with a knife to make it look like an octopus

panel 1, baby sasuke: he says something about Kani-san (カニさん), which means crab. so this is me guessing he’s asking for crab in his bento.

panel 4, sasuke: he’s asking naruto if he’ll make it on time because they still have the drop off the kids at the nursery, but i had to shorten/give meaning and keep the words few enough to fit in the bubble

panel 4, naruto: he actually says “no more time?” in the raw, I think, but that doesn’t make sense translated literally.

panel 5, sasuke: the text near his face, i’m not sure what it actually means, but he’s sort of saying that baby sasuke wants to imitate baby naruto and wants the “up.” I think.

edit * panel 5, sasuke’s bubble: he says let’s not get in naruto’s way, but I sort of gave meaning that he’s cooking so the kids shouldn’t bother him.

panel 6, baby sasuke: he literally says, “Daddy! Do that!” idk what the fuck that means but sasuke probably knows what it means. However! The kanji is different. baby sasuke says chichiue (父上) which is a more formal “father.” But I put in daddy because baby naruto calls sasuke in another page touchan (父ちゃん) which means daddy.

panel 6, sasuke: in the raw sasuke says something about having to change clothes, so I think he still has to change the babies’ clothes before they can go out.

panel 7, baby sasuke: the sfx above baby sasuke, is sooo weird idk what it means so i just put swing there.

panel 7, baby naruto: it’s not an sfx but it says “ore mo!” which means “Me too!” but why would a baby use “ore” huhu babies refer to themselves in third person. would’ve loved to see the baby say his own name.

panel 8, babies: it says “kyaaa” which means they’re having fun being swung around by their strong daddy.

panel 8, sasuke: There’s kanji and katakana down in the lower left where Sasuke is getting frustrated with the kids being naughty when they’re running late to the nursery, and cannot for the life of me read it.

anyhoo I hope you enjoy staring at jounin!sasunaru being domestic and raising their babies together. Naruto is gorgeous and I love his long hair. Sasuke is just as handsome and I miss this hair on him so bad. in the doujin they’re very responsible parents, even though they didn’t really plan on the children in the first place, and sasuke sort of didn’t want them. **edit: they do however, raise them into good young boys and capable genin, and they love them very much.

So I recently I got back into my teen obsession: Naruto. I took the chance to read the manga again with new eyes, and started doodling many fix it ideas until one day Naruto came out with fox ears and all this AU came to life.

Right now (as I post the end of the chunin exams) I have all the way to the Pein Arc planned. I also know how I want to end the AU already. Drawing it all is what will take time. (June edit: I've finished planning it and I'm about to start post shippuden soon!)

If you've read what I have out, by now you realize I change a lot of things and as the story goes forward there'll be more and more changes. A big one is: There won't be the war arc in NaruFox. If you want to know how I'll include something from this part in the AU, I probably won't.

I plan to have NO ships in the NaruFox. Not even my personal favorites. Yes, because I’m too old for ship wars, but mostly because that’s just not my focus for the AU. I am totally fine with you tagging the posts you find cute as the ships you like and see, but officially there won't be any romance.

Naruto ships that felt canon to me: SasuNaru, InoSaku, KakaGai, ShikaTema.

So, how was Naruto?

ok im using this ask as my full review post. it was simultaneously tear-your-hair-out garbage and world-alteringly incredible. would i recommend watching it? NO. am i glad i spent two weeks doing basically nothing other than watching it? yes. idk how much detail i went into initially about why i wanted to watch it to begin with, but (and im not SUPER sure how accurate this is) from my perspective the impact that naruto has had on fandom culture seems absolutely MASSIVE, and i HAD to experience it for myself because of that. sasunaru was absolutely a large part of that, considering they are something of the poster child of shipping rival leads (especially in anime fanbases), so even though i knew that they would be shipped together regardless of how much they actually cared for each other in canon, the MASSIVE popularity and the tiny snippets of them that i'd seen made me kind of crazy desperate to see how real it was.

the strongest aspect of the series is ABSOLUTELY naruto and sasuke, and sasuke and itachi. really what i loved most about naruto was that the author pulled NO punches in demonstrating how deep these characters love for one another actually ran. this isnt extrapolation or exaggeration when i say that i have NEVER in all my days seen "love that ruins" like how these characters love each other.

naruto on his own isnt a WILDLY unique character. without watching the show you could guess what sort of person he is and probably be right. BUT his biggest strengths def come in how he interacts with other people, and his endless dedication to sasuke is a PRIMARY example of that. one by one, EVERYBODY is giving up on sasuke. hes doing terrible things, no one has seen him, they just catch wind of the awful things he's done, but naruto still REFUSES to let him go. and it is TEARING him to pieces. he's losing sleep over it for YEARS. he grovels in the snow for sasuke's honor, he dreams about him he cries over him all his friends turn on him over sasuke and he fucking refuses to accept that sasuke's too far gone. sasuke is desperate to forget the bond he had with naruto , his one and only friend (direct quote), not just because he feels like the weakness of having that bond is holding him back but also because he doesn't feel like he deserves it. he doesnt GET why naruto loves him so much and its making him crazy. he's desperate to make him stop, even if that means killing him just to be alone again, to bear the hate of the world alone so that the world can find peace in his place. they love each other so so so deeply and understand one another like no one else could ever dream to, and i've never seen such unfiltered devotion in my LIFE.

the lore of the series itself is quite muddy and overcomplicated, particularly everything relating to historical conflicts. the specifics of itachi's story, to me, are kind of contrived and feel sort of like the author himself didnt know exactly what itachi's real motivation was going to be when he initially wrote him killing all the uchiha. the lore dumps are dense and dreadful to wade through. i personally deeply hate the idea of sasuke and naruto being the reincarnated souls of two brothers who've been at each others throats for lifetimes grappling for their own ideas of peace. now part of this is because i do not think sasuke and naruto's relationship is particularly brotherly, but mostly its because i hate the idea that STILL their lives are being dictated by fate and the reason that they care for each other so deeply is because their souls are tied by a cosmic bond instead of because they are two people who chose to care for one another independently.

i personally feel there is a valuable simplicity to just. these two love each other, and their story is reflected by the past relationships between madara and the first hokage whos name i forget, and also by two guys before them, and it has created a cycle that repeatedly fails but maybe the strength of the bonds that have been built by naruto and sasuke and the people close to them can finally break free of that. like things can reflect the past, and i think that means more than it actually BEING the past. this is def an opinion that i dont expect to be widely agreed upon because i know complex lore and prophecies and shit ARE popular, but i personally feel that the complexity of everything with kaguya and her sons and the sage of six paths couldve been watered down and made for a stronger story. CHOOSING to live how you are means so so much more than living that way because fate dictates that you do. and i know there was an element of self determination in sasuke and naruto being able to break free of that cycle, but the fact that they were in it to begin with was because of reborn souls and shit. which i dont like.

along with the lore dumps dragging on, fights can also drag on like craaaaazy. not even just fights that are very plot significant (im fine with those being long, fights between naruto and sasuke are beautifully animated and i could watch them for hours), but literally just random ass conflicts with minor villains and minor characters take for fucking ever and its exhausting. like there is a lot of shit that we didnt need.

and obviously. the series is DEEPLY sexist. worst ive seen in a LONG time. the shoehorned romance made me want to scream, it is genuinely demeaning watching hinata and sakura pine after naruto and sasuke. i dont think ALL the girl characters suck (i do actually like sakura even though her crush on sasuke makes me want to kill someone, tsunade is genuinely one of my fave characters, i think temari is really cool and fun, i wish we'd gotten more of tenten), but it is POTENTLY obvious that kishimoto doesnt see women as people and it makes a LOT of scenes DEEPLY painful to watch. ive talked about this quite extensively so i won't rehash it all here but it is BAD. i was honestly surprised by how little the girls are sexualized, but he makes up for that by only having three personality traits that girls are allowed to have. and one of those is "obsessed with naruto or sasuke to the point of it being a health concern."

TL;DR, naruto has very strong character relationships and themes of how love can make you stronger but also ruin you, but the lore is terribly muddy and the way its presented makes a lot of it very boring. kishimoto hates women so much its insane. ive been changed on a fundamental level. every m/m rivals ship that has come after this is a sorry attempt to recreate sasunaru whether the people shipping those characters realize it or not

they both think the other person is The Coolest Guy Ever except it manifests quite differently between them

the one time ren dies before death loses all meaning yoh, because he's the best, immediately drops out of the plot tournament he's wanted to be in since he was 4 to get an 11 year old cult leader to resurrect him (keep up people) and it's very wholesome in a depressing kinda way. he would do that for most people but it's especially funny because of how pissed ren gets about his no-homo destined rival giving up his dreams to raise him from the dead without his consent

they're just so silly the dynamic of incredible mutual trust with this one sided insane rivalry is so fun and I love them so much

so sorry for the late, late response! so many things to do, and it got forgotten. i am a mess most of the time, dear anon. I'm sorry!

but let's see what i can do for you and this lovely prompt! Sasuke realized a long time ago that he always preferred to fight Naruto. In any circumstance. It is a weird self-admission, but not unfounded. weirdly enough, they always fit when they clash. So distinct from the coordination of them fighting side-to-side, yet so similar in the core feeling of it. Naruto's fist colliding with his feels as gratifying as a combined jutsu cracking against an opponent's face. He's always reveled in it. The sharp grin painted on his lips is a testimony of it; the pleasure of having Naruto taking and reciprocating his attacks.

But now, something else nudges at the pits of his adrenaline-fueled mind. Something overlapping his focus for a win. It makes him confused, if slightly, in the way it wavers his attention. Because this is not a case of getting lost in your thoughts about some other matter while you're on the verge of getting pummeled. Not at all.

His whole attention keeps getting whisked away by Naruto. Simply Naruto.

They're both shirtless under the powerful sun of summer, sweat dripping off them with every jerky, forceful movement. And he never had a problem with it. Never. But now all his Sharingan can take in is the way droplets fall like entire rivers on Naruto's golden skin, making it glimmer more than it needed to; some falling into his mouth as he parts it again again. How the dips of his abs flutter with every heavy breath, with his every little grunt when Sasuke succeeds to lend a pretty substantial hit on him. His muscles tremble with the contained force living and buzzing in his body, his hair is a wet mess of light blond curls.

And Sasuke wants to tug at them sharply. Get a handful of it and make Naruto kneel-

Their forearms clash, shockwave stinging, stomping his thoughts to a halt, and Naruto grasps at Sasuke's bicep, mean and tight, gritting between his teeth. "Focus. Focus on me, you asshole. Fight harder."

That's the problem, Sasuke thinks with a newfound scowl, Sharingan flaring like mad, because the way Naruto's creases his face, all sharp lines and feral intensity when he fights - it shouldn't make him this alluring. The blue in his eyes is still there, yet his pupil is slitted. A hazard to come. I'm focusing too fucking much on you.

Sasuke exhales strongly, kicks up a knee into that hard abdomen, only for Naruto to jump back and give him a suspicious glare. They both take each other in for a moment, before Sasuke lets out a hard tsk and bolts towards the blond, fists clenching, bone-cracking.

They collide yet again, making the ground crack this time, and it gets such a tempting, wild grin out of Naruto, all fangs and pliant satisfaction from having Sasuke's entire intensity put on him.

Sasuke is temporarily left with no air in his lungs, staring at him. At all of him.

Oh. Oh.

Oh, no.

Strong fingers take hold of his neck, and drive him straight into the ground. Sasuke coughs, feels his back ache, but more so his heart because it flutters, the damn traitor, when Naruto makes a familiar home on top of him - knees bent, ass almost on his abdomen, and panting form hovering victoriously. He's still keeping a hand around his throat, flexing it ever so slightly to tell him stay put.

"I won," Naruto heaves out, breathless. An almost purr. Sasuke's chest stutters, and he can't help but stare, wide-eyed and self-aware of the fact that he wants. Naruto takes notice, of course he does, and frowns, fingers loosening. "What's wrong? Sasuke?"

Don't say my name like that. Fuck. Gritting his teeth, he puts all his trembling force into sitting up, so swiftly that Naruto fumbles and falls on his ass between Sasuke's legs with a confused, soft sound. He looks up at the Uchiha, so lost and wide, and it almost makes him lose his mind.

Sasuke swallows, narrows his crimson eyes, and grasps meanly at Naruto's tense jaw, bringing his face closer to his.

"Next time you're going to be the one under me," he whispers, restraint cracking, fingers buzzing when Naruto's bare chest does a small, but visible tumble at the words.

But that's the thing about Naruto, isn't it? Even when he's clearly affected, in whatever way, he just loves the challenge. He loves provoking Sasuke. Loves driving him mad.

And Sasuke just realized that he loves him, this wicked, mischievous little shit that seems to lean more into Sasuke's hard grasp, flutter his blond eyelashes, and curl his lips into delightful goading.

"I'd like to see you try," Naruto says back, just as softly, as hoarsely.

Sasuke smirks in disbelief, and does just that.

SHFSHFH HOPE IT WAS GOOD? idk i just wrote it on the spot, with nothing in mind. my detail-manic ass would have like to build a whole one-shot with different scenes and with lots and lots of feelings and a bit of slow burn and some more sexual tension that eventually explodes into the void and BAM, smut. BUT. but, i already have a one-shot in the works about Naruto realizing some good, sexually-frustrating things in the middle of sparring with dear Sas, and so i will explore more there!

I have been obsessed with fic ever since. If I recall, the Google search I used was even "Naruto fan stories" or something similar.

Hey welcome back! No worries dude, I'm surprised that you'd want a list from me specifically!

This is kind of a huge question! I wouldn't say I have many favourites of all-time. Above all I enjoy seeing deep emotional connections between characters, and if they have canon interactions like that then I'll enjoy it platonic or otherwise if I feel there's romantic undertones! Since you're specifically asking for romance though, I can talk about the more recent ones I got into lately!

Believe it or not, I didn't really ship anyone in Death Note until last year LOL. I never participated in this fandom before! Maybe because I was too young when I first watched it to enjoy the nuance of L and Light's dynamic. They've skyrocketed to fave territory obviously! I'd even go as far to say that shipping lawlight adds another layer of appreciation for the series!

I think the most bizarre one I got into was (and evidently still is based on recent events) definitely hijack! I never ship crossovers, like it fundamentally breaks my rule about canon connection but HERE WE ARE. Where did it come from??? They won't ever even TALK. The rotbtd fandom has something in the water, lemme tell ya. (Actually I very much could go on a long ramble about how much I love Jack and Hiccup separately and together but not right now, I'm embarrassed lol) ((I also shipped other characters in this crossover, who am I kidding))

Oldest one is by far SasuNaru and I think that one speaks for itself lol.

i read this raw naruto dj without reading the tags cos hey the cover looks interesting enough and it looks all cute and why not? it's an adult, hokage!naruto with chibi versions of boruto and sasuke being sweet with him. i can read SOME japanese. like, the very basics with a very little bit of every day kanji.

so manga starts off cute. boruto's entering a rooom, waking up naruto who is oversleeping. he keeps on bothering him and telling him to wake up and he needs his bento prepared since he'll be late for training.

naruto wakes up, thinking hinata and himawari had already seen boruto off for the day, so when he sees boruto still at home, he tells him he thought he'd already left.

so boruto is like, "are you still sleepy? i need my bento, mom!"

another child enters his room who says "boruto's right we need our lunches, usuratonkachi"

to which naruto says "sasuke!" and it's literally the 12 year old sasuke in front of him. "i'm your mother, you don't call me names like usuratonkachi. that's disrespectful!"

so im like. am i having a stroke?? sure i'm ok with boruto calling naruto mom in a dj cos why the fuck not if that's what the author wants right?? but then im like. how the fuck is naruto sasuke's mom?? what about hinata?? and himawari?? who were illustrated just now?? that was a dream or something??

and then naruto's like ‘oh, right. i'm sasuke and naruto's mom.’ and then the page displays naruto in an apron preparing breakfast and sasuke and boruto's bento.

after handing them their bento, boruto says "we're going now, mom!"

to which naruto says "have a good day!"

and that's as far as my kanji will take me because in the next scenes where there's A LOT of kanji i can't read, naruto is at the hokage's office and shikamaru is worried about him because naruto is sort of acting weird, then naruto finds out jiraiya is still alive and he calls for him and he cries since y'know, he knew he died and they catch up and stuff.

in the next pages i can understand again lol

and then by some miracle naruto isn't doing overtime and is home before the kids get home. he's already preparing dinner since he's drawn with an apron on.

so boruto says "we're home" and sasuke says "i'm hungry"

and naruto's inner monologue says, "sasuke and boruto are my children. and i'm the happiest mom in the world"

after dinner while fixing up some laundry naruto catches the children running around naked and roughhousing on their way to the bathroom (it's not uncommon to bathe together). so naruto admonishes them that they're getting too old to be running around naked.

so boruto says "mom! take a bath with us!"

there are a lot of kanji i dont understand anymore in the next pages, but naruto is having a wash outside the tub since boruto and sasuke are in the hot water. (it's practice to wash and scrub yourself first and wash off the soap before getting in the hot water to soak because the soak is shared with other people)

so around here boruto asks about naruto's arm/prosthetic. then boruto and sasuke offer to scrub naruto's back.

after scrubbing naruto's back, little sasuke reaches for naruto's dick to wash that too but naruto kinda freaks out and sort of yells "no!" and naruto returns to scrubbing himself.

after the bath and after getting dressed in pajamas, naruto climbs in bed to see boruto who wants to sleep in bed with him.

and then later when boruto and naruto are settled, sasuke comes in and climbs over naruto, pinning him down.

naruto says "sasuke what do you think you're doing?"

and sasuke says "what we've always done, naruto" (he calls naruto just by his name in the entire dj, he doesn't once call him mom)

AND THEN THIS IS WHERE I SHOULD HAVE READ THOSE FUCKING TAGS??

and then young 12 year old sasuke is fucking his mother. then naruto thinks "we do this? always?" and naruto just lets it happen. sasuke fucks him from behind, face down on the bed. then later, naruto is on his knees up right, while sasuke is still behind him holding his hands to his back.

boruto says he wants to fuck his mom too, but sasuke says he's too young, which means sasuke might be the older brother (i think somewhere there it says boruto is 10). sasuke now switches their positions. naruto is on his back, sasuke is still fucking him and boruto is kissing him.

in next page, naruto is waking up the next morning to hearing an adult sasuke's voice. he thinks he's back to reality because sasuke is grown up.

sasuke says "are you tired? do you need to sleep in today?"

then he hears boruto's voice. "dad! you woke me up!"

naruto wakes and sits up, naked, and adult sasuke, whom boruto called dad says, "i'm home, naruto. were the boys good?"

which means this is adult sasuke, is a separate person from the sasuke the child. their child. boruto and sasuke jr, are naruto and sasuke sr's children.

and i dont know if this implies or not that sasuke sr knows his children are fucking their mom, because i’m not sure if i read it right when sasuke sr says “were the boys/sons good” because i don’t know if it might have meant “were the boys/sons good to you?” instead.

and then it ends with naruto wondering if everything is a dream.

i swear to god. what the fuck. i don't know what to do with this information hahahahahha

i’m not sure if i’m ok or not 😵😖😰

also edit because additional thoughts. i think the dj might have been a dream, because if naruto married sasuke and is the mom, then his name changes to uchiha naruto, if i take into consideration gender roles and how families are registered in japan, naruto will have to be registered as a husband/wife to sasuke. and then boruto will have to be named uchiha boruto, since he’s a child of an uchiha put in the uchiha registry. then technically since naruto and boruto are uchihas, they should be wearing the uchiha crest. however, boruto and naruto still wear the uzumaki crest, and sasuke jr. is wearing the uchiha crest. but! it could still be the choice of the author to let naruto and boruto wear the uzumaki crest.

Naruhina anon again - Yeah I agree with your points, as the manga goes on Hinata just gets treated so horribly. SHES AWESOME and she should have gotten more time and care, but such is life I guess and we always have fanworks. As for sasunaru, the only reason I never got into it was cuz I think Naruto is too good for Sasuke

I am literally laughing here!! Naruto being too good for Sasuke is exactly how I felt through half of the series, then at one point I had to accept that they just deserve each other.

as a resident Naruto Blogger i need to be honest like FULLY honest

i quit reading the manga around chapter... 500ish, like things get fuzzy after sakura’s fake confession but i know i got past that

so i spent years reading and rereading chapters 1-500ish

and then i went cold fucking turkey for YEARS, like all of college, and then someone told me naruto was ENDING so i speed read 500-700

and i dont think i ever... read... those chapters again (outside of the last sasunaru fight) and tbh when i was reading and rereading 1-500 it was like... 90% for sasuke

so i actually have like... very little memory/understanding of obito’s Whole Deal (outside of any flashbacks kakashi might’ve had prior), i do not remember why the fuck the kaguya thing happened, i tried reading a fic last week and found out (for what feels like the first time) that kakashi lost his sharingan and was flabbergasted...

there is a whole... 200 chapter arc where literally the only details i am like... semi confident about are just... sasunaru moments

which IS the pitfall of reading content just for shipping but also... it’s naruto what else was i gonna read for

but also maybe... once i finish hxh... and maybe read yyh... and finish blue period................. i’ll reread naruto for REAL for real

I haven’t watched Nart in ages tbh but I do follow people who have and I vaguely remember a minor discourse over sasunaru/narusasu/whocareswhosthetop being a Bad Ship™? Is it a problematique and toxique ship? I honestly can’t recall. I kinda shipped it as a teen tbh so I’m kinda shocked as I am the wokest anon on tumblr. I know you're biased and that's why I ask. Let's be biased together.

Oh, honey, that discourse was not minor. It was like a decade long war I did not engage in. Lots of people who shipped Sasusaku and Naruhina claimed that shipping SNS was a "mutually abusive" relationship and that you are morally bad for shipping it.

When I think... I think that misses the point? And the context of WHY it's being shipped.

Sasuke and Naruto's relationship is not healthy. But the point is that... it wasn't ever allowed to be. The well was fucking poisoned.

Their story is a tragedy.

It's about children who weren't taught love or communication but that problems are solved with violence and desperately, DESPERATELY hoping they can learn, together, to put feelings to words and to stop begging for each other with fists and jutsu and to finally be able to say what they have been feeling for years and years of aching.

It's about the intricate rituals that let them touch each other but only if it hurts. The entire shinobi system is built around breaking down kids so they can only ever crave pain and the fight. You watch them fight and you want them to heal instead.

Sasuke and Naruto's relationship is wanting them to better each other but being aware of all of the things standing in their way--Konoha's lies, Orochimaru's poisoning seal, the trauma... the fear.

Shipping Sasuke and Naruto is wanting better for them, always. It’s realizing their entire lives are crafted around violence and wanting them to find peace in each other.

They're different than the "abusive" ships where the "abuse" is hot or "fun to explore because “it’s dark." Their story is just... a tragedy that you hope finds a happier ending. Where the catharsis isn't death or more sadness but rather that they are able to overcome their fatal flaws instead.

So much of the "toxic" shipping people like me rail against reaffirm things like misogyny, racism, power imbalances, pedophilia, incest but Sasunaru skirts around all of that.

Sasuke and Naruto are equals, two sides of the same sad coin, who do not have power over each other to abuse. They just have all that rage and fear and hope. Their entire bond is defined by feeling so much fucking love and empathy that it scares them away (or in Sasuke's case, makes him think he has to kill Naruto... but he's never able to).

They idealize each other while also having painfully grounded understandings of the other's flaws, so you watch them think too highly of the other, then too lowly, and you want them to find that happy middle.

You don't enjoy the violence, you mourn the lost opportunity. You see them fight and ache knowing they don't have to, that they were forced to by powers far greater than their own.

Their circumstances are so, so removed from like... what people try to shame them for?

And I get why many people wouldn't be comfortable shipping them but it's just like... not what people think it is.

You're not reading Valley of the End Part 2 and enjoying the violence and thinking that's what makes them a good ship. It's not like Killing Eve or whatever where one stabs the other and that's their weird way of flirting or whatever.

Their violence is painful and terrible and it hurts you, it hurts them, it's something you want them to never do again. And it’s something you know they don't actually want to do but feel they HAVE to.

And the appeal of it is the idea that you can be profoundly fucked up by life and still have someone who wants to be with you, even when it's difficult, even when you push them away. Its just taken to an extreme because it's a story about child soldiers, so it's not as easy to do a 1:1 comparison to real life but like... that's all it is. It can't really be paralleled to real life violence. It’s just a sad story a lot of us have felt we have lived on some sad symbolic level when we’ve been afraid of being loved or felt like we didn’t deserve it.

me banging on kishimotos door at 2am: why did you make sakura’s bangs as a child a symbol of her lack of self-confidence and then have ino help her overcome it BUT then give sakura bangs again during the war arc when she was reunited with sasuke and clearly made to be self-conscious and feel inferior in the face of him and naruto?? why did you literally put the symbol of discomfort back into her design around sasuke - her love interest - when it blatantly contrasts the safety and confidence she gains around ino who helps her overcome that obstacle??? which one sounds more romantic?? which one sound more healthy??
