Sam and Dr. Philips examined each of the women’s bodies. Carved into their limbs were runes consistent with the ones Rowena described. She said she was sending an expert who lived in the area but the boys hadn’t made contact yet.
“The other agent who was just here asked the same questions. Don’t you guys talk to each other?” Dr. Philips covered the bodies. Some of the women he knew personally.
“Different departments. You said he was just here? How long ago?”
“She. Her name is Diana Luna. She’s down at the evidence locker. All the women had the same necklace. She went to check it out.”
Sam thanked the doctor and set off to find you. First he called Dean. “Looks like Rowena’s story checks out. Her expert was just here. The bodies were marked with runes and all of their tongues cut out. And, get this, they all had the same necklace. Maybe a coven?”
“Of course. Of course it’s witches, Sam. Look, don’t go far. I’m on my way.” Sam was sitting on a bus bench reading coroner's reports when you approached him. Due to the nature of the case, Rowena insisted the elder Winchester carry out the task at hand. “Use Sam as bait.” she instructed.
“Agent Cornell? I’m agent Luna from the Lansing office.” You extended your hand. “Director Macleod sent me.”
“Yeah, I bet she did. Bring me up to speed.”
“Sure. I’ve got what you’re looking for right here.” You blew a very potent powder in his face knocking him out. You put the lankier Winchester into your truck and sped back to your house. Getting his dead weight up the stairs was a task but you did it. “Sweet dreams, Sam.”
Dean searched the entire town square for Sam with no luck. He tried his phone again and it was going directly to voicemail. Sam could hold his own against any witch but Dean was still worried. As he unlocked the door to the Impala, he heard you call his name over his shoulder and turned his head to see who was speaking. You blew the dream dust into his face rendering him unconscious.
He was heavier than he looked. You shoved him into the back seat and pried the keys from his hand. Baby growled angrily when she started but you had her purring for you in no time. You drove him back to your house and dragged him inside where you intended to tie him up. Rowena coached you on all their tricks. You took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and divested him if anything sharp. With his wrists and ankles bound in a pretty decent slip knot you splashed his face with water to wake him.
“Morning, handsome.” he smirked as you wiped his face.
“Big mistake, sweetheart. I’m guessing you’re the one we’re looking for.”
“Pretty and dumb. Rowena was right and you would be guessing wrong. Her name is Teresa Wilson. She came seeking asylum with our coven a few months ago. Said her whole order was obliterated. Turns out, she wasn’t exactly who she said she was.”
His face split into a cocky grin, “They never are. What do you want with me?”
“You need to help me find her. Rowena gave me a locator spell. When I cast the spell, I’ll need your fancy bullets. Problem is…”
He laughed heartily, “Problem is you can’t touch ‘em, am I right, sweetheart?”
“You would be correct.”
“And what’s in it for me?”
You took a step back just out of his reach just in case, “If you help me I’ll let your brother live.”
He strained against the ropes veins bulging in his forearms. “If you touch one hair on his head I’ll rip you apart myself. You hear me, witch?”
Your nails dug sharp into the meat of his cheeks so he would look at you. “Relax, baby. Your brother is safe. He’s asleep upstairs dreaming of puppies and rainbows as we speak. But if you don’t help me, he’ll never wake up. And, Dean, when I kill someone, it sticks. No resurrections for Sammy this time.”
You’ve never seen a human man snarl before. It was pretty cute. Rowena warned you not to be mesmerized by his sweet face and his Disney Princess eyes but you couldn’t help it. The man looked like he would, in fact, rip you apart. And, Hecate help you, you wished he would. You traced a finger along his sharp stubble covered jaw. His eyes turned up to look into yours, throwing daggers at you. “Anyone ever tell you how cute you are when you’re angry?”
“All the time. Get to the spell so I can take my brother out of here.” he growled.
“It’s not time. If I untie you, are you gonna be a good boy or do I have to hit you with my knock out dust again?” You couldn’t take your eyes off of his perfect lips smiling at you.
“Sure, mommy, I’ll be a real good boy.”
You knelt in front of him and parted his knees slightly to undo the first knot. “Such a smart ass.” He growled low in his throat when you peered at him through your lashes. His dick grew painfully hard against his jeans as you slid your hand up his legs to maintain balance. Of course you noticed though he tried to squeeze his thighs together to hide his arousal. “Do you like me like this, Dean?”
Of course he did. You were just his type. A little bratty but you had a good heart. Rowena told them about you. The little warrior for the Grand Council. They constantly sent you to do their dirty work and you did so without question like a good soldier. No wonder Rowena paired the two of you. You were the female version of him. “Like what?” His voice was low and dripping with need.
“On my knees for you. Looks like you do.” You winked at him but he looked away embarrassed.
It had been a long time since he felt a woman wrapped hot around him. Everything in him wanted to follow your siren song and happily crash. He couldn’t do it. This story always ended bloody. “You couldn’t handle it, sweetheart.” He peered down at the bulge in his pants. So did you. Your core heated at the thought.
“Is that a dare or a double dare?.” He spread his legs and licked his lips inviting you to take what you wanted. You shook it off and focused on the task at hand. “Well in any case, I made you dinner. Pot roast, potatoes, peas and carrots. Eat if you want.”
It did smell amazing. His stomach growled remembering that all he had was coffee this morning. The living room and kitchen were well lit and warm. He felt at peace in this place. More so than the bunker where it could sometimes feel clinical and cold. “You got a pretty nice place here. You all alone?”
A sly smile played on your lips, “Just me.” You sat the plate down in front of him with a cold beer and a bottle opener. The oven timer dinged and, when you opened the door, the aroma of cinnamon and spice wafted through the air.
“That pie?” He sounded choked up.
“Apple. I have an orchard in the back. Rowena filled me in on how to keep you happy.” You sit it on the windowsill to cool while you ate. “I can’t have you bashing me over the head and running off before we kill this bitch.”
He shoveled a fork full of potatoes and gravy into his mouth humming in appreciation. “Why me? You had Sam here. He’s much better at this witch stuff than I am. Why drag me out here?”
“You’re more reliable when making difficult decisions. You’re what I need. Another beer?” He nodded breathing in the soft floral scent that wafted off of your skin as you moved.
You didn’t offer any further information and Dean thought that was probably for the best. If he got in his head about the situation he would lose his nerve and that can’t happen. That’s how people die. As of late, Sam has had a lot on his mind. Dean would have to shoulder this burden. At least Sammy was getting some rest.
The two of you shared a comfortable silence only marred by silverware hitting ceramic. “Well that was delicious. Thank you….umm…I don’t think I caught your name.”
“I didn’t give it to you. I’m Y/N. But I wouldn’t mind if you kept calling me sweetheart. Pie?”
Dean's heart beat hard in his chest at the thought of calling you sweetheart “Maybe a little. So when do we do this thing?”
“Eat your pie then meet me outside. I have to prepare.” You slipped out the back door down a dimly lit path to your cauldron. You threw in the mandrake and tobacco. Last was the chicken that you had to slaughter. You grabbed a hen from her coop and stabbed her with your athame. It made a terrible sound which sent Dean flying through the back door ready to fight.
“What the hell was that?”
“Chicken.” You allowed the rest of its blood to drain and discarded the carcass. “periisti. lates. Ego te quaero. I vestrum adprehendet vos.” You chanted over and over until a glowing beacon appeared. “We have to follow it.” The orb circled the two of you then floated towards the Impala. You retrieved his keys from your pocket and started off for the car.
“Whoa whoa whoa. What are you doing?”
“Following the orb.” He grabbed your arm as you started to slide into the driver’s seat.
“No one drives my baby but me. You sit shotgun.” He impatiently waited for you to scoot over. When you reached for the radio he slapped your hand away. “Are you serious?!”
“What? There were other decades besides the 70’s.” He bit his lip and flared his nostrils letting out an unsettling growl. “Driver picks the music.”
“You are a child. Just drive. The spell won’t last forever” you huffed.
“So, just you huh? No boyfriend? Girlfriend?” You didn’t answer keeping your eyes trained on the orb. “Yeah me neither. Maybe later we can grab a drink.”
“My god. Can you keep it in your pants until we’re done? It took a left!”
He sped up taking off after it, “I see it. So that’s not a no.” That was all the invitation he needed. The truth was you would have given it up the moment those green eyes stared into your soul.
“It’s not a no. Let’s focus.”
Baby ate up miles of dirt road before reaching the highway. A couple of miles ahead the orb sped for an exit into town. You were led to the motel where the boys were staying. The door to their room was wide open and there Teresa stood bathed in the light of the orb. You bid it a job well done and sent it on its way.
Teresa, caught off guard, quickly muttered a spell pinning Dean to the wall, sending the gun skittering away. You faced each other down while Dean struggled. “She’s a kid!” he groaned in pain.
“I’m nineteen thank you. You don’t have to do this Y/N. Come on. We’re sisters. We share the same DNA. Let’s take them on together.” Tears welled in your eyes. You may have been blood but you weren’t sisters. She grew up far out of the Grand Council’s reach while you were their trained lap dog.
“Only half little sister. You’re hopped up on enough stolen magic to power the entire city. The Grand Council sent me to take you down. Adiuro te in nomine Hecate. Adiuro te in nomine Dianae. Tuae vires cum luna decrescant.” you chanted. She fought back but the binding spell was powerful. She didn’t have enough magic to hold Dean and fight you so she let him go. When he regained composure, he dove for the gun.
Without warning, Teresa gained the upper hand. She held out her arm and used all of her might to pull you towards her. Blood stained tears fell from your eyes as you struggled to breath. With every last ounce of strength you had you doubled down on the binding spell long enough to hold her so that Dean could put her down. The blast of the shot filled the small motel room filling your ears with a high pitched whining. You collapsed onto the floor where Dean scooped you into his arms.
“Hey, Y/N. Wake up. Stay with me. Shit.” He carried you to the car and gingerly set you down next to him. The drive back to your house felt long. When he got you inside he placed you on the couch and called Rowena.
“Is it done then?” she asked in her thick Scottish brogue.
“Yeah but your girl’s unconscious. She’s breathing but she used a lot of magic. A lot. I don’t think you’ll be calling on her anytime soon.”
“Keep her warm, Dean. I’ll be there soon.” The line went dead. He sat on the floor in front of you and brushed your hair from your eyes.
“Sweetheart, you need to wake up. We were supposed to grab that drink, remember?” He pressed his lips to your temple lingering there for a moment when he heard Rowena’s laugh trill behind him.
“I should add matchmaker to my long list of talents. Out of the way, Dean. I’ll get your girl fixed right up.” She patted his hand and pushed him aside.
His face flushes hot burning all the way to his ears. ”She’s not my girl.”
“Of course. Now, what seems to be the trouble, dear?” She placed her hands on your head. Her eyes glowed as she spoke over you. Your lashes began to flutter and you woke up. “There she is. Good as new.” You and Dean exchanged a look. “That appears to be my cue to go check on Samuel.”
“Thank you, Rowena.” your voice was hoarse barely above a whisper.
“Not at all, dear.”
Dean pulled you into his lap rocking you gently, “You scared the hell out of me, sweetheart.”
“I had to stop her. She hurt too many people.” You felt guilty for ending her but even guiltier for letting her go as far as she did. Guiltier still for not pushing harder to be in her life. “It was my fault.”
“Hey, no it wasn’t. What? You think you should have been a better big sister? You didn’t lead her down this path, Y/N.” You rested your head on his shoulder “All these years and all the stupid fucked up shit Sam and I did, I blamed myself. I took on that burden. Alone. It’s a lonely awful place to be. I’m begging don’t do that to yourself.” He held your face in his hands forcing you to look at him. He wanted to kiss you. You would have let him if he leaned in. Instead he brought you back down to his chest just to hold you. He saw so much of himself in you. You were headstrong and self righteous but your intentions were altruistic.
You melted into his arms so lost in him that you didn’t hear Sam and Rowena slip out. Dean offered his brother only a small nod to let him know you were ok. He had several texts from Eileen anyway. Happy to see his brother didn’t have to spend another night alone, he went back to the bunker.
You sat in silence for a while when you started yawning. “Shit. What time is it?”
“After midnight. I should get outta here.” You untangled yourself from his grasp but didn’t stand. His hands stayed respectfully at the small of your back. You locked eyes with him. Your core tingled as he brushed errant hair from your forehead.
“Or you could stay. We haven’t had our drink yet. Though, you don’t need to get me drunk, handsome.” You kissed his jaw and down his neck working your way to his collarbone. A soft moan escaped his lips when you nipped at his neck. “I mean you enjoyed me on my knees and all.”
“As pretty as you looked,” his voice was low and gravelly, “And, I mean you looked gorgeous. We really shouldn’t.”
You genuinely pouted your lips backing off of your ministrations, “Why not? I want to. And you clearly want to. You’re a fucking legend, Dean. Show me just how legendary you are.”
He arched a brow at you and smirked in the way that only Dean Winchester does. “Flattery will get you everywhere, sweetheart.” Finally his lips were on yours. The force of his kiss took your breath away. It wasn’t predatory or greedy. It was slow and sensuous bordering on hunger. His whole body was hungry for you. Dean Winchester was hungry constantly looking for something to fill the hole inside him. For the moment, that was you. He felt like he was floating and was suddenly very warm. If he stopped kissing you he knew he would just stop breathing. He couldn’t bare the thought.
“What are you doing to me?” His chest heaved. “I feel like I’m on fire.” Surely this must be a spell or enchantment. He pulled you back in for more but this time his hands strayed from your back. They traveled to your hips then under the hem of your shirt to feel your flesh warm against him. He had to feel you. To be inside of you. Deft fingers unbuttoned your jeans. Without breaking the kiss he stroked your clothed core working up a rhythm that flooded you with arousal.
“Touch me, Dean. Please” you cried. Pushing your panties aside his fingers explored your dripping pussy. His pace is maddening. Your hips snapped fucking back hard. “Fuck, Dean. So good. I need your cock. Want you to split ne open.”
“You’ve got a filthy mouth, Princess. Come for me and I’ll give you what you want.” And so you gushed around him moaning like a witch on fire. When your heart slowed to a normal rhythm you stripped naked. Before he could get undressed he took a moment to kiss and touch every inch of you. If this was only for tonight he wanted to savor you. “God you’re beautiful.”
“So are you.” You pulled him up and undressed him, never once breaking eye contact. His cock was red and weeping just aching to be touched.
On your knees in front of him you took the whole burning thing in your mouth. To Dean, you were the most stunning creature to exist. You swirled your tongue around the head while you hollowed your cheeks sucking him in deeper still.
“You’re doing so well, sweetheart. Fuck that feels good.” His hands grasped the back of your head keeping you steady while he fucked your face. It started feeling too good like he would blow his load in your mouth. He had to feel your sweet cunt. “Let me feel you, baby. Fuck I need you.” You pulled off with a pop and climed into his lap. Both of you whimpered when you sank onto his length. The stretch was exquisite. Your pussy held him so tight. You ground your clit over his pubic bone while he fucked into you with a brutal pace. “You feel so good. M’not gonna last. Come for me, baby. I need it.” Your twat fluttered around him, milking him for all he was worth. You kissed once more fighting to hang on to the last tendrils of tenderness and warmth that you could.
“Stay. Please. Just for tonight” you whispered.
He tightened his grip on you. “Of course, sweetheart. All night.”
He hated to leave you but the sun rose like a beacon calling him away. If he didn’t leave then, he wouldn’t have ever left. Last time he stuck around and fell in love, he had to learn the hard way that he could never have this. Maybe he would call you the next time he swung through town. Maybe you’d spit in his face for bailing. He brushed the hair off your forehead and kissed your temple. “Bye, sweetheart.”
You woke when you heard the Impala roaring to life in your driveway. He left a square of paper with a phone number scrawled in pencil “I’ll always answer. -DW” You put on your robe, went down to your cauldron and threw it in with a few bundles of sage and some witch hazel to sever any feelings. On the next full moon, you’d do a cord cutting to make sure it sticks.
“See you around, handsome.” In his eleven hour drive back to the bunker, any feelings that you have would slowly fade. The two of you would go back to being too afraid to feel and far too afraid to fall in love. Dean wouldn’t hear from you again. He wouldn’t really remember where you lived. But, every time he drove through Michigan, he’d feel a twinge in his chest. And, no matter how many rituals you did, you’d feel him too.

Golden Boy meets grey girl
Summary: Dating Captain America was a dream until it wasn’t…
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, Sam Wilson, James Bucky Barnes, Wanda Maximoff
Warnings: angst, a hint of fluff, breakup, heartbreak, pregnant reader
You are dating Steve Rogers, Captain America, the golden boy, so nothing can go wrong…right? False...everything can go wrong, and this is where our story ends…or rather begins?
“How can you be pregnant?” Steve asks raising his voice.
“Seriously? Well, when a boy and a girl Steve; aren’t you too old to ask me this kind of question?” You retort.
“I mean you are on the pill.”
“Yes, and I told you my doctor gave me the advice to not do it with you without condoms as your freaking genetic…whatever could trick the pill and obviously it did exactly what I said. You fucked me bare after the party Rogers! Don’t blame me…I thought you would be happy…”
“Happy? We are working for the Avengers. Risking our life and you want to have a baby?”
“What? Since when am I an Avenger? I’m always in my office, Steve. I’m not in danger and you are almost indestructible. So, what’s the real problem? Months ago, you told me you want to have a family. You looked after every child and now I’m pregnant you want what – an abortion?” You sniff.
“I never said this.”
“But you thought about it. I can see it all over your face. I wish I never listened to Tony or Nat…I knew…Forget it!” Running out of your shared room you want nothing more than have a break.
How could your surprise end like this? Hours ago, you were so happy and now he doesn’t want the baby.
----
“You can stay as long as you want to,” Wanda says but you shake your head.
“Wand, I can’t stay any longer. I have to talk to Steve about…”
“The baby?” She asks.
“You know?”
“I can sense a new life inside of you.”
“I see. Can you keep it to yourself for a while, till Steve and I talked things out? And please tell no one we had a fight.”
“I swear.”
----
“I’m sorry, Y/N. Please let me tell you how sorry.” Steve says and you sit down onto the bed.
“I didn’t want to yell either. I was just so disappointed. I thought you would be happy, obviously, I was wrong. You don’t want this, me…our baby.”
“I want you, okay. Just let me get used to the thought I’m going to be a father. In a few days, I’ll tell everyone about the baby.” Steve says and you want to believe his words.
----
Three months later…
“Y/N, can we talk?” Tony asks standing in front of your and Steve’s room.
“Sure. Is it because I was sick the last week? I already made progress in catching up with my paperwork.
“Honestly, you don’t have to worry about this any longer. You see we do not need your help anymore.” Tony says and you feel like someone slapped your face.
“Wait, what? You mean I’m fired? Why…? Does Steve know?”
“Look...god that’s hard to tell you…it was his idea. You should move into an apartment or house too. The Avengers Tower is kinda not a safe place for a civilian like you.”
“You never said this before. None of you ever called me like that! I saved all of your asses more than once with my knowledge now you are telling me you not just fired me you want me to leave my home and the man I love too?”
“Sorry. It’s for the best…”
“Is it because of the baby? Is Steve afraid something could happen to our child?” You ask and Tony’s eyes widen.
“Baby? You are pregnant?”
“OH…he didn’t tell anyone…right?”
“Shit, I’m so sorry. He said you two want to part ways and that you need a new job…house. I already prepared everything. I didn’t know a thing about a baby, Y/N.”
“Part ways…I see. He wasn’t even man enough to break up with me on his own. Captain America sends his Daddy to kick me out. Tell me is she prettier than me?”
“Prettier?”
“Don’t act like he doesn’t find someone better. I knew it was a mistake listening to you and Nat. Go out with Steve he’s so into you. He only talks about you. Steve is a gentleman…Gentleman my ass! He fucked me like an animal that night and knocked me up, now he’s getting me fired and kicks me out of my home. Gentleman, huh? I got no money, no home and on top of all, I’m pregnant by Captain America. Means every evil creep will try to go after me but moving out of the save Avengers headquarter will keep me safe for sure, Tony.” You spat.
“Y/N, I really didn’t know you’re pregnant. Don’t worry about money or a safe home. I’ll arrange everything for you, and I’ll have a serious conversation with Captain Asshole for sure!”
“Don’t waste your time, Tony. I believe you, okay. I was never good enough, I guess. He was my first everything you know…I thought he appreciated that I was only his…I was wrong. I’m going to pack my things right now. Can someone help me and order a cab? I got no car, so I need to get my stuff to my aunt this way.”
“I’ll drive you. Bucky and Sam can help you with your things. I’ll ask Wanda and Nat to help you with packing. I’m truly sorry, of course, you will keep your job.”
“No. Thanks…I don’t want it anymore. I’ll just go back to my old job at the FBI headquarter. They are calling me for months by now. My old boss will be happy to have me back.”
“Steve got no clue what he lost today…” Tony curses.
“He knows and he doesn’t care, obviously I’m not even worth it to break up with me personally.”
----
“Steve didn’t say a word?” Nat asks.
“Not a single word. I know he wasn’t too happy about my pregnancy, but this is cruel.”
“I should smash him into a wall and break all his bones.” Wanda curses. “I’m losing my best friend!”
“Don’t do that…you are a team…the Avengers…I’m no one to none of you. Just a grey office mouse running around with papers…”
“Papers which saved our asses more than once!” Bucky mutters.
“You will find someone for my job soon. I’m replaceable James.”
“James? Not Bucky?” He asks.
“Bucky is for friends…I’m just…I was just Steve’s girl.”
“Don’t be silly. You are a friend.” Sam says and you shrug.
“Thanks for the try, boys. I appreciate your effort but just drop the act. When I’m out of this door I’m long forgotten.” You say taking your purse and jacket to leave the tower.
----
Around three months later…
“He never called or came around?” Wanda asks.
Shaking your head, you place one hand onto your swollen belly. “I’m no one…told you all so.”
“But we all come around and he’s not able to visit his pregnant girl? That’s low, man. Fuck that’s more than low…this is bullshit!” Sam curses and you chuckle.
“Don’t worry…I’ll live. Made it three months without him. Will make it eighteen years to raise my kids.”
“Kids? Wait…more than one?” Bucky asks.
“Twins. Didn’t Wanda tell you so?”
“You said I shall not tell anyone!”
“Right…I forgot about it. Yeah, Bucky I’m having twins. A Boy and a girl.”
“Doubled the luck! But also doubled diapers to get changed.” Nat chuckles.
“Hmm…My aunt will help me. She had five kids so she’s good in stuff like this…”
“We can help too…not with the diapers…eek…but babysitting and stuff.”
“That’s nice, Nat. Thanks but I do not need a babysitter. I’m working from home and all my friends are here right now…”
“What about dating?” Sam asks.
“You think anyone wants the ex of Captain America? Every guy will ask why I was not good enough for the golden boy.”
“Nonsense!” Bucky says.
“It’s true…two weeks ago a guy flirted with me even seeing I’m pregnant. We talked for a while. He was nice, I was not really interested but talking to him didn’t hurt anyone. After some time, he started staring at me and then his eyes widen.”
“He acknowledged you as Cap’s ex?” Nat asks.
“Yep. The next question was why Steve broke up with me. As I couldn’t answer his question, because I got no clue he excused himself to the restrooms and never came back.”
“So, Cap plays cock-block even after breaking up with you?” Sam mutters.
“I didn’t intend on having sex with that guy, Sam.”
“Still this is shit…and unfair! You didn’t do anything wrong. We heard you telling him to use a condom.” Nat blurs out and your eyes widen.
“You heard?” You gasp turning crimson.
“Babe, the whole tower heard you two going at it…” Nat chuckles and you hide your face in your hands.
“Nothing to be ashamed of, doll. What about coming to Tony’s party next weekend?” Bucky suggests.
“I don’t want to see him.”
“Tony?” Sam asks.
“She means Steve, you idiot!” Nat snarls.
“I know that just tried to lighten the mood with some Stark hate…”
“That’s not Tony’s fault…you all know that. He didn’t know about the baby. Tony offered me a room and to keep my job, but I just had to leave.”
“He didn’t tell us so.”
“Sam, he is not the enemy…culprit…whatever. Tony is a good man, a playboy, and a perv sometimes but deep down inside a good guy, with a good heart. He installed Jarvis in my aunt’s house and helped us renovate it…well he sent someone to do it. The house is saver than a fortress thanks to Tony.
----
Watching you and his friends from afar Steve’s heart aches. He wishes he could just run to you and hold you in his arms but right now it would mean death to you…
----
“You sure it’s safe now?” Steve asks.
“Rogers, I told you we found everyone thanks to your great undercover work but at what cost.” Tony sighs.
“I had no other choice. They threatened her. I had to stop them to protect my child and the woman I love.”
“The woman you love suffers for three months thanks to your lies! You should’ve told us about the Hydra cell within the FBI! Hell, she wanted to start working for them again. You would’ve pushed her right into their arms!”
“Do you think I don’t know that Tony! My heart missed a beat after you told me so! I took down her former boss to make sure she can’t seduce Y/N to come back. If you excuse me now I’m going to go to my girl and beg for forgiveness…”
“Go down on your knees. Don’t forget flowers…but no cactus! If she throws it at you roses or tulips won’t hurt.” Tony chuckles shaking his head. ”How about chocolate or a good fuck?”
“No, swear words, Tony,” Steve warns and Tony starts cackling.
“Seriously? This concerns you the most. Get the girl or I’ll get her. She’s one hell of a woman!”
“I know…and she’s mine…”
----
Sitting on your front porch you close your eyes to enjoy the warm sun on your face. When someone steals your sun by towering over you your eyes snap open.
“What do you want?” You snap.
“Let me explain…you see…I love you.” Steve stammers.
“Sure, that’s the reason you kicked me out of our home and your life. You were not man enough to tell me I’m not good enough for you or that you don’t want my babies. I’m just the grey girl no one wants. Why should the golden boy want me?”
“Baby?”
“Go and leave me alone. Do whatever you did for the last three months, with whomever you did it…” You sob.
“I was on a mission…alone. I took down a Hydra cell within the FBI. They threatened you and my baby. They had some spies within the tower too. I had to take them down, but those monsters had to believe I broke up with you, that you mean nothing to me. The guy in the café was one of them. When you started to cry he knew it was true.”
“He was one of them…he was so close…he had his hand on my bump…” You sob.
“You’re safe now. I took them down with Buck and Vision.”
“Did Bucky know?”
“He was the only one. I told Tony last week. I swear the others had no clue. Bucky visited you all the time to make sure you are save and to report to me on the babies.”
“Your hair is longer…” You say.
“Had to look a bit more…dangerous.” Steve chuckles.
“I like the beard too…”
“I’m so sorry for not telling you but I tried to protect you. I was always close by, just like Buck. Can I touch the bump?”
Sniffing you lift your shirt so Steve can gently place one hand onto your belly. A tear slips down his cheek when one of the babies kicks him.
“Strong little guy.”
“Both are more than strong…I guess their daddy gave them some special gene’s.”
“Will you come home with me?”
“First you need to survive my aunt, she’s a human lie detector. Also, you have to explain why you weren’t happy after I told you I’m pregnant.”
“I was happy, beyond happy but I already started my mission and I knew they would go after you even more. I tried to fake a breakup, but they saw us together, so I had to make it looks real…I’m sorry…Look I have flowers.”
Looking at the dead flowers in his hands you start laughing. “Did you strangle the poor tulips?”
“I guess my grip was too tight…I should’ve bought the cactus.”
“Nah…it’s fine…god…I haven’t laughed like that for a while.”
Helping you get up Steve looks down at you. Blue eyes focused on your lips he tilts his head. Taking too long for your taste you stand on tiptoes to press your lips to his. Giggling you feel his beard scratching your skin while you move fingers through his long hair.
“Am I forgiven?”
“No…but I think we make progress. You will have to make up a lot to me, Rogers.”
“I’ll do anything. I have chocolate too and Tony suggested something else…”
“Tony did? What could…oh…that pervert!” You mutter but Steve's eyes darken, and you feel your heart beating faster.
“My aunt ain’t home for at least two more hours…”
“Then let your golden boy make it up to you…Do you want me to shave the bear first?”
“No way! You will keep it just like the hair!” You mutter dragging him into your house.
“I guess this means you like my new style…”
Pressing your lips to his answers Steve’s question. His arms move around you to hold you tight as he wanted for the last three months.
He finally has his grey girl back…

Mission: Kitten
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Word Count: 2,508
Warnings: VERY brief mention of animal abuse
Summary: You fall in love with a kitten from the shelter you volunteer at. After meeting him, Bucky does too, he just takes his sweet time to admit it. FLUFF
*This is my first fic I’ve ever written so if it’s bad, I’m sorry. Don’t be afraid to leave constructive criticism or even prompts in my inbox! TY<3*
You got in your car with your new cat, Finnigan. After years of volunteering at the local animal shelter, you’re surprised you’ve made it this long without taking at least one of the animals you take care of home. Part of the reason was that your boyfriend, Bucky had made the “no pets” rule. It wasn’t that he didn’t like animals or was allergic, he was just worried that your lifestyles wouldn’t make allowances for such adorable little balls of fur. After all, he was an Avenger and you worked for S.H,I.E.L.D, so your lives were a little unpredictable. But this little guy stole your heart the minute you saw him. He’s just over six months old with long black and white fur. His missing eye and smushed face are just to die for. You set Finnigan’s, or Finny’s for short, carrier in your passenger seat and began to make the drive home.
“Oh Finny”, you say to the carrier to your right, “I’m sure he’ll love you... don’t be nervous... are you nervous?”
Of course he isn’t nervous you think to yourself He’s a cat! You’re the one who’s nervous [Y/N]
The rest of the ride home was you rehearsing how tonight would go
“Hey Buck... You know I love you very much.. right” no
“Hey babe... don’t be mad at me BUT” oh no, he’s definitely gonna be mad
“Hey buck... iknowyousaidnopetsbutthisoneisspecialandicouldn’tsaynosopleasecanwekeephim” Well, at least it’s straight to the point.
You pull into the driveway before you were done planning the scenario in your head.
“looks like I’m winging it” you mutter under your breath.
You get out of the car and take Finny’s carrier in one hand and fling your bag over your shoulder with the other. You were just about to open the door, but Bucky beat you to it.
“Hey doll, how was the shelter today?” a soft voice asks as he pulls you into a hug.
“Oh ya know, it was.... great just.....great” you reply, trying to conceal Finnigan’s carrier behind your legs.
“Oh? Is Everything ok? Here.. let me take your bags for you” He takes your purse from your shoulder and then reaches for the carrier. “Um Doll, what’s that?”
Shoot. Uhhhh cover it up
“Bucky.. that’s my purse... I take that with me everywhere... It has my phone, wallet, keys..”
“I mean... what’s... why is that plastic case meowing?”
Buckyyyyy this wasn’t part of the plan
“Look, Buck.. I know you had told me no pets, but this little guy... I just.. couldn’t say no to him. He hasn’t left me alone since we brought him in” You say as you lift Finnigan out of his carrier. “I mean, c’mon look at his little face! And his fluffy fur!!”
“[Y/N], I told you, we can’t have a pet. We can’t take care of a pet! Maybe if you brought home something smaller like a fish, it would’ve been fine! But a cat? Where is he gonna sleep? What does he eat? What if he makes a mess of our place?” He looks at your falling expression, “what if we have to go on a mission all of a sudden?”
“Bucky, It’d be YOU going on a mission, remember? I’m the brains, you’re the muscle.”
“Doll....”
“Please Buck, please?”
As hard as he’s tried, Bucky Barnes could never say no to you.
You notice Bucky deep in thought, after a few seconds and your puppy dog eyes looking directly at him, he finally declares, “Fine, I suppose he could stay. For a little bit at least”
“YAY! Bucky, thank you so much!!!” You throw your arms around him, leaving almost no room for poor Finny. You don’t realize this until you hear a faint squeak come from between your bodies. “Sorry Finny, I’m just so happy you’re finally home”
You bring your purse and Finny inside, leaving Bucky to take the carrier.
“I just want you to know this is TEMPORARY” You hear Bucky’s voice call from behind. “what are we going to do with him?”
“Well, he’ll need a bed, food, a water dish... a litter box” you reply.
“And where exactly will we get these things from?”
“Well, if you don’t mind staying here, I can run to the store and-”
The door opens and Sam Wilson enters.
“Hey guys I was just wondering if- well who is this??” Sam asks when Finnigan starts rubbing his ankles, a cats way of asking for attention.
“That’s Finnigan” you answer as Sam picks him up, “I was actually just on my way out to pick up some supplies for him”
“You were?” Bucky asks
“Well, yes unless you would like to go and I’ll stay with the cat?”
“So you’re telling me you just brought this cat home on a whim five minutes ago and now you want to leave me alone with it?”
“Do you need someone to watch him?” Sam interjects, holding and petting Finn while Finny purrs away in his arms. “Because... if you do.. I really don’t mind”
“You’re a bird, Sam, aren’t you supposed to be AFRAID of cats?” Bucky retorts.
“Nah, not this one dude. What’s he gonna do? Snuggle me to death?” Sam answers and Finnigan mews in agreement.
“Tell ya what, [Y/N], Sam and I will stay with the cat while you go out and get him some things. Ok?” Bucky offers. He’s volunteering to watch him, that’s a good sign, right?
“Sounds good” you say, grabbing the keys to you car off the shelf, “See you guys later. Please don’t wreck anything OR HIM while I’m gone”
The door closes. Sam and Bucky make their way to the furniture that’s set up in the loft.
“So when did you decide to adopt a cat? I always thought you hated animals!” Sam questions while lounging in the large armchair and placing his feet on the coffee table.
“Sam- it-it’s not that I hate animals, it’s just... having such an unpredictable lifestyle...”
“Buck, I’m sure it’ll be fine. It’s not like [Y/N] goes on these missions too. Sure being a Shield agent can be unpredictable at times, but if worse comes to worst, you could always hire a sitter” Sam attempts to calm his nerves.
“A sitter.. for a cat? Sam c’mon don’t you think that’s a little much?”
“Nah man, people do that all the time!”
“Ok fine, but what if he breaks stuff, or worse, gets hurt? I swear I’ll never hear the end of it!”
“Bucky, he’s a kitten, look man, he’s already asleep” they both glance down at Sam’s lap where a sleepy Finnigan lays contentedly.
“Maybe for now”
“Having a pet may not exactly be easy but be thankful it’s a cat. She could’ve come home with a tarantula... or another exotic animal, one of those 14 foot long snakes” Sam laughs.
“At least those guys stay in their enclosure”
It seemed like nothing was ever going to make Bucky ok with the idea of having a cat. No matter how hard Sam tried to talk to him, it would always come back to “but what if we get called on a mission?” “what if he ruins our house?” “his fur is gonna get everywhere it’s gonna be so messy!”
The door opens and you enter with an armful of Petsmart bags. Finnigan’s little ears perk up in his sleepy state. Once he realizes what’s going on, he jumps off of Sam’s lap and runs over to greet his new mother.
“Hi Finny baby!!!” You baby talk to the kitten, “I’m back and I have some food, a bed and some toys for you sweetie!! Are you excited?” Finny meows back and Bucky shakes his head.
“It’s gonna be ok, man” Sam reassures him.
You don’t waste any time in setting up the kittens living area. You set his food and water dishes down on a mat on the tile floor of the kitchen, his bed right near the furniture in the loft and unpack a wand with some ribbons attached for him to play with. You drag the ribbon across the floor and watch as Finnigan scrambles to catch it. Sam laughs, Bucky does too but as soon as he knows you’ve noticed, he goes back to being unamused.
“Oh! And one more thing!” you say, pulling a teal blue collar with reflective stars on it out of it’s packaging, “I got you a collar and will be ordering tags just in case you get lost!” you put the collar around Finny’s neck.
“You got him a collar? [Y/N], you know we can’t keep him right? We are only taking care of him until we find him a family that wants him”
“Bucky... please” you beg.
“[Y/N] no, I told you this is only temporary. He’s cute and all but we really can’t have him running around making a mess of things and getting his fur everywhere!”
You decide that having Finny home with you for now is good enough, at least Bucky let the cat inside... which is more than you thought he’d do.
“Hey guys, it was fun hanging but it is getting pretty late. I’m gonna head back home. If you guys, or Finny, need anything, you know where I’m at” Sam gives Finny one last pat on the head before closing your door.
In all the excitement, you really didn’t realize just how quickly time moves. You glance at the clock, 12:01 am. It’s definitely time to call it a night. Bucky makes his way to your shared room while you pick Finny up and give him a kiss goodnight.
“It’s ok Finny, we’ll convince him sooner or later” you promise to the kitten while setting him in his bed. He purrs and drifts off to sleep. You head off to bed as well.
You wake up the next morning and find Finnigan(by some miracle) right where you had left him. You start brewing the coffee, throw some bagels in the toaster and then go to sit with your new baby.
“Good morning Finny” you greet him. He nuzzles his little face against your hand and you start petting him. “How’d you sleep little guy? You must have really slept huh? Cause I found you right where I left you last night. I thought kittens like to cause mischief while their parents were asleep but not you sweetheart, you’re an angel” you continue to have this one sided conversation with the kitten until you hear the toaster go off. You stand up to take the bagels out but Bucky beats you to it.
“It’s ok doll, I’ll get them, you can keep talking” A small smile forms on Bucky’s face which he immediately wipes away when he sees you’ve noticed. You stand up anyway to go greet him with a kiss.
“Morning baby, how’d you sleep?” you ask
“I slept all right darlin, howabout you?”
“All right as well”
“Do you want cream cheese or butter on your bagel?”
“Cream cheese please!”
“What time are you going to the shelter today, doll?”
“I was going to head out as soon as we finished breakfast. We just got in this litter of kittens, 4 of them found in a plastic bag on the side of the highway, mother nowhere to be seen”
“Okay doll, does that mean I’m watching Finnigan?” Bucky asks while pouring two mugs of coffee.
“If you don’t mind”
“So am I just going to be left with the cat every day?”
“Not everyday Buck, besides. He’s so cute! How can you be mad about spending time with a face like that?”
“Not mad, doll.” he pauses, “and I suppose I could watch him today”
“Thank you”
You finish up breakfast and quickly get ready. You give Bucky and Finny a kiss goodbye and then head to your car. The day went by so slow. All you wanted to do was be home to spend time with your furbaby, but you also realized there were other animals that needed caring for. You went through your daily routine of cleaning the cats crates, playing with them, making sure they all had food and water, and brushing them as well. Especially the long haired cats. They always required a little extra care because of their easily tangled coats. You and another girl you worked with took the dogs for a walk and cleaned their crates. Caring for 40+ animals daily was a lot of work but well worth the gross and tired feeling at the end of the day.  By the time the end of the day arrived, you were ready to be home.
You pulled in the driveway and opened the door to a seemingly empty house.
“Bucky? Finny? Anyone here?” you called, hoping there would be an answer.
“In here doll” you heard a call from the bedroom.
“Please tell me you have the cat as well”
“I do” Bucky replied, and you relaxed.
“I’m gonna take a shower, Buck would you mind getting dinner started?” you ask.
“That would be a question for Finnigan”
“Bucky what are you talking about?”
You open the bedroom door to find Bucky laying on the bed with Finnigan sprawled out across his legs, both of them were clearly comfortable, ESPECIALLY Finnigan. You could hear his purrs all the way to the door. You smile and shake your head.
“I thought you didn’t like him” you tease.
“It wasn’t that I didn’t like him, it’s just that I was scared to be responsible for another life when mine is so unpredictable. But [Y/N], he hasn’t left my side all day and just has the cutest little voice. And look at him! He’s so fluffy and his little face with his missing eye! How can you not absolutely be in love?”
“Bucky, this is what I’ve been trying to show you! So...”
“What, doll?”
“Can he stay”
“Of course”
Nothing made you happier than hearing that. You loved Bucky with your whole heart and seeing him fall in love with that kitten made you love him even more. You place a quick kiss on his lips before saying “Thank you”. He wraps his strong arm around you and pulls you into his chest. He kisses your forehead as you nuzzle into him further. Finnigan walks up to rub his face against yours and licks your nose delicately before laying beside you. Everything is perfect. You’re with the love of your life, and Finny is yours and Bucky’s forever. This little family is all you could’ve asked for and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I love you” you tell Bucky
“I love you” he replies, “And Finnigan too” patting the almost asleep kitten on the head.
“I’m so lucky” you mumble, so tired you can barely speak.
Bucky grins and holds you closer.
“Go to sleep doll, you’ve had a long day”
And so you do, you drift off to sleep in his arms with your kitten right beside you.

Quarantine Prompts | Six Prompt: Your character gets a text message from an unknown number saying, “Meet me outside. Now.” Challenge: It happens either very early in the morning or very late in the evening.
“Mhm, and God Bless Daddy Casey too, you’re right,” Stone smiled, listening as Jolie finished saying her nighttime prayers, “We can’t forget about him. He’s the best cook, huh?” Stone stood up and kissed Jayden on the cheek, she slept in the top bunk, and then gave Jolie a kiss on the top of her head before flipping off their lights, “Goodnight, my girls. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Night daddy!” They hummed in unison.
The Castle girls, minus Rainey, were asleep, and so were the Berry kids. Rainey always liked staying up just a little bit later with Casey, and he was the one who put her to sleep. It just had to be him. Some of Stone and Casey’s kids worked better with one of them or the other, and that was okay. It didn’t offend Stone, not even a little bit.
Playing some Animal Crossing and waiting for Casey to come to bed, Stone finally fell asleep. He knew Casey would be up soon. Sometimes, his blue-eyed babe fell asleep on the couch, and that was alright. Stone didn’t mind having space in the bed to spread out. He never had a big bed growing up so now that he did it was paradise.
At 3:38 AM, Stone stirred. He wouldn’t have noticed the time if it wasn’t for the glowing light of his iPhone that buzzed repeatedly. Panicked, he picked it up. After Koby’s death, Stone was always worried he would get another horrific call from Nora’s house. This time, everything was good. Well, somewhat good.
A new text dinged “Meet me outside. Now.” and though every fiber of his being wanted to stay curled in bed, Stone got up.
As he had expected, Stone had fallen asleep on the couch, and Stone quietly put on a black raincoat before carefully opening his front door. A figure stood far off in the dark, and a familiar, custom blue Range Rover blocked the bottom of the driveway. Felix Wilson. He was one of Stone’s old clients, and the only person in the world who would drive a car so obnoxiously colored. He was around fifty, had a wife and two sons and was closeted. When he was with Stone he liked to be dominated, and he always smelled like awful cologne and cigars. Just the sight of his car sent Stone into a panic, his breathing accelerating. What was he doing here?
“Felix,” Stone tried to keep his tone light, but failed, “What the hell are you doing here?”  He approached him quickly, “Ah, baby. You look as beefed up as I remember. How are you?”  “...What the hell are you doing here?”  “I came to see you. I watch your Youtube videos. I could tell which house this was.”
I watch your Youtube videos. Stone’s heart sank and he instantly thought of his family within the walls of their home. Him and Casey had been in talks about getting a better security system, and right then he wished they’d decided on one sooner.  “Felix....” Stone glanced back at the house, “My kids and fiancè are inside. This isn’t the time.”  “I got a flight leaving in the morning, baby, it has to be.” His penis already looked erect through his khakis.  “It’s not,” Stone’s fists were balled up uncomfortably tight, “I think you should leave. I retired from the club scene a long time ago.”  “Baby, come on,” Felix was so close, Stone got a whiff of him,”I want you. I want you inside of me, baby.” “No. You can’t have me!” “Yeah?” It was as if a flip had switched, “Then why should anyone?”
Before he could tell what was happening, Felix attacked Stone. Though Stone was taller in stature, the surprise worked in Felix’s favor and Stone was instantly on his knees, a hard punch landing straight to his left jaw. He tried to fight back, socking a couple of punches in Felix’s abdomen, but the older man didn’t falter. Next, the pain that Stone felt didn’t quite feel real at first.  He was jacked up on enough adrenaline to keep him awake for days, and so he wasn’t sure if that was masking it, or if his primal instinct to survive had taken over. Either way, one moment he was on his knees trying to fight, and the next, he was flopping on his back, a stab wound to the neck seeping blood from his body as quickly as his heart beat.
Stone could hear Felix’s Range Rover speed off. It was so loud, he was sure the neighbors even heard, and then, “Babe?” He heard Casey’s voice and his feet racing down the driveway, “Babe! Stone!” Casey approached him, but Stone was too weak to speak, “Stay with me, stay with me!” And then everything faded to darkness.

10 reasons why fall is the best season for adventures
Cool, crisp air. Shorter days. Fireplace cranking, Hot toddy’s flowing. The crunch of fallen leaves underfoot.
There’s no question that fall is the season of cozy. Dare I say hygge?
Even the die-hard lovers of spring, summer and winter can admit there’s just that strange, mysterious factor that make everyone feel warm and happy when they transition into the season of color.
I know better than anyone how tempting it is to go into hibernation mode in autumn. An East Coast girl at heart, these colorful months are in my blood, even since I moved to New Zealand and have come to accept fall in April – which let’s be honest, is still kinda weird.
I love snuggling up next to the fire with a good book, content with spending a day baking and writing, and of course, thinking. But I love even more wandering outside beneath yellow leaves, and the smell of fire in the air.
I know it’s tempting to put on your long johns and start the Christmas music in October but don’t be too quick to skip this magical season all together. Fall is my favorite time of the year and is arguably the best season for adventure, even if it arrived very late this year.
Step aside summer and winter, we’ve got a new favorite adventure season in town.
1. The perfect weather
Congratulations, you’ve made it through the sweltering summer.
You’ve endured endless nights of restlessness because it’s frankly too damn hot to be comfortable. You’ve survived the bug bites, the ugly ass sun hats, the hair that sticks to your sweaty forehead making looking presentable almost impossible. You’ve done it!
Welcome to fall where you’ll be greeted with the perfect temperatures. All those hikes you decided to abandon because it was too hot? Now’s the perfect time to do them.
You’ll be comfortable and cool and maybe you’ll even get to wear more than the absolute bare minimum for layers. Throw on that cute beanie you’ve kept in storage.
You’ll be just cool enough to keep the sweating to a minimum so you can get those summit views easier and more comfortably.
Nothing beats Central Otago in autumn
My house in Wanaka is decked out in Wilson & Dorset New Zealand sheepskins
Two Paddocks, my favorite local winery, looks stunning in the fall
2. All the pretty colors, obviously
Anyone who pretends to be unfazed by the radiant light show that nature puts on every autumn is, quite frankly, full of shit.
It is spectacular when the leaves change, heralding fall, no questions asked.
Golds, reds, oranges, I love them all. As soon as the leaves begin to change, my heart soars and I want to be out and about amongst the colors as much as I can.
Nature is literally changing its whole color scheme from bright green to earthy browns, yellows, reds, purples. Seeing an entire landscape explode into a totally different shade than a month ago?
That’s magic.
It’s like seeing a mountain on fire without any of the danger. Yes please, can nature look like this all the time??
3. No more crazy crowds
Good news! Summer vacations are over.
Those crying, screaming kids disrupting your peaceful nature time are back in school.
For some reason, people are spending their weekend watching football which is great because that means you get nature all to yourself. Take advantage of the quiet trails while everyone else is gorging on cheese dip and pumpkin spiced lattes.
Just avoid those heavy Instagram autumn spots, can’t guarantee those won’t be busy.
I kept my portable Lotus Belle Air Beam Bud set up all through the autumn in Wanaka
Onesies by the fire, am I right?
4. You get to wear all of the clothes and be all cozy
Summer wardrobes suck.
Everything is exposed all of the time and after few weeks of sweating through your outfit every day, you begin to miss the beauty of an autumn wardrobe.
When on a summer hike, you can only take off so much but in fall, it’s time to layer up, baby! Leggings, thick socks, leather boots, long-sleeves, hoodies, jackets and beanies.
Fall wardrobes have so much opportunity, so much diversity.
I live in this Patagonia flannel top come autumn
Danner boots are my favorite adventure boots when I’m on the road
5. Explore the mountains before they’re covered in snow
You may already be frothing for winter and a season on the skis but don’t forget that when the snow comes, a lot of the alpine will generally be off limits.
This is your last chance to get high without the complications of ski gear and avalanche knowledge.
In fall, the peaks may get a small dusting of snow but it’s still accessible and plus, a light dusting paired with a fiery mountain landscape is the stuff photographers drool over. Enjoy those peaks. You might not see them again for another six months.
A light but high quality puffer jacket is essential for hikes in the autumn
6. Vinyard harvest
Living near wine regions around the world, I have because highly aware of autumn because of the harvest. Come vintage time, all hands are on deck and these beautiful bits of land truly come alive as everyone works to bring in the grapes before the frosts of winter descend.
A true art form that I’ll never understand, what I do get it is the wild harvest parties that happen at the end, that I often end up at!
So much fun.
7. It’s totally fine to end a hike with hot cider and a hearty meal
Roasted veggies, hearty stews, mashed potatoes. Fall is the season of comfort food.
No one wants to end their hot summery hike with a big roast dinner and a hot apple cider. No thanks.
In Autumn? Definitely! You can reward yourself after your adventure with a hot, comforting meal fit for kings.
8. Shorter days means you get to see more sunrises and sunsets
Fall is great for lovers of sleep.
It’s darker longer which means that pesky sun won’t wake you up until much, much later. You even get an extra hour of sleep when the clock rolls back. For those of us who love sleep to an unhealthy degree, seeing a sunrise in the summer is brutally painful. Waiting up at 5:30am just to be prepped for morning golden hour? Sounds good in theory but never works quite like I want it to.
In Fall? No problem. Go ahead and give yourself a sleep in. You’ll get your beauty rest, have time to make a coffee and still make golden hour. Nice!
Planning an autumn hike when the days are shorter means that you need to be extra prepared with gear. I always throw in a headlamp if I’m going on a day hike and always carry more layers than I think I’ll need in case the weather really turns. You gotta be prepared for it all.
9. Wildlife viewing can be amazing
Grab your binoculars!
Bird are migrating, salmon are spawning, elk are bugling, the high alpine animals are slowly making their way down the mountain as the temperatures drop. Bears are scrounging up the last of the berries before heading off for hibernation and squirrels are busy gathering and stashing nuts for the winter.
For those who want to get a glimpse of these elusive animals, autumn is your chance! But be careful, wildlife can be especially aggressive this time of year so keep your distance and resist all temptation to get a selfie with wild animals.
If you’re hiking in bear territory, it’s always a good idea to carry a bell and bear spray, just in case.
10. Get cabin cozy
And last but not least, my favorite thing to do in autumn is spend time out away from the cities cozied away in a cute cabin.
From the smells of the first wood fires to the crunchy leaves under your feet as you walk through the woods, there is something so nostalgic and lovely about getting away for a few days to a cabin somewhere. Airbnb is usually my go-to for looking for little cabins to get away to. Do you have any faves to share?
Spill – do love fall as much as me? What’s your favorite autumn adventure?
