LITERALLY LIFE CHANGING i feel like a new man...... so so good thank you for asking!!!
#going to use this as an excuse to talk abt it ramble in the tags bc the stakes are low on here and i need to get it out of my system#absolutely no obligation for anyone to read this but#best night of my life ? i think#and definitely the best gig of my life bc it felt like so much more than just a concert. and how can any other gig compare to THAT#we had to travel up and stayed over night etc etc so it was a big thing bc of that but more so bc ITS MCR#very much part of the generation that was too young to see them when they were around and then they split#so i never thought i would get to experience this in my life#and they obviously mean so much to me / i've never stopped being emo / they're my fellow freaks#i always think about the time i was watching black parade is dead and my mum was like 'this is good bc you'll never be able to see them'#BUT THEN....#took a decade but WE DID SEE THEM WE HAVE SEEN THEM#we've seen gerard before and frank twice so its not even like a 'omg they're real' moment but it was still just. so overwhelming#(in the best way possible)#they started w foundations and it took about a minute before i started crying lol#and just continued to do so on and off for their entire set (2 hours!)#i just kept thinking abt how monumental it was to be seeing them and hearing these songs live#and hearing a whole stadium full of people singing along too. god#there's this video someone outside of the venue took where you can hear everyone singing along to wttbp and like. fuck man#my chemical romance#i just felt so appreciative and emotional i've never lived in the moment quite like that day and im trying really hard to carry on doing#that now and just living day to day#sounds so stupid but i don't care it genuinely made me want to be a better person and not want to wallow in my depression 24/7#the line in foundations when gerard says 'you must fix your heart and you must build an altar where it rests'#maybe i don't have to kill myself. maybe life can just be trivial and these small joys are enough. maybe

nothing else matters / eddie munson imagine
A/N: I can't stop thinking about Nothing Else Matters being Eddie's song with his partner so..here we are lol.
You and Eddie had been together for around 5 years now, and when Metallica announced their Wherever We May Roam tour where they were playing in Evansville, a few towns over - Eddie leapt at the chance to buy you guys tickets as an anniversary present.
You were counting down the days and just couldn’t wait. You had both booked holiday from your jobs. A few of Eddie’s friends were coming too - but separately.
-
When the day rolled around, Eddie was full of anxiety. You had agreed to drive so he could relax and calm down on the way. You had spent hours the night before making up a cassette full of your favourite Metallica tracks.
The whole car journey, Eddie was fidgeting, playing with his rings or hair. You eventually placed your hand on his thigh to stop it shaking up and down. “Hey, it’s okay. We’re gonna have an amazing time tonight!” You say with a grin. He smiles at you and nods, grabbing his sunglasses out of the glove compartment, placing them on and starting to dramatically sing along to your tape.
That changes when Nothing Else Matters comes on - your song. He goes deadly silent and starts biting at his nails again. You frown, looking over at him. “What’s wrong? You good?” You ask, raising an eyebrow at him. He just shrugs in response, causing you to groan in response, completely oblivious to why he would be feeling so anxious.
Eventually you pull into the parking lot of the venue. “So, I’ve got a load of cash on me to basically buy out the merchandise? I was thinking if they have a flag we could get it and put it up in our apartment?” You say with a smile, undoing your seatbelt and turning the engine off.
Eddie glances at you with a grin and nods. “Sounds perfect.” He smiles and gets out of the car, pulling his jeans up, grabbing the tickets out of his jacket pocket. The two of you walk over to the merchandise stand, hand in hand.  You walk away with every t-shirt, a few patches, the flag and a couple of glasses for your apartment. You quickly run them back to the car and head over to entry.
You had standing tickets, and were able to get fairly close to the barrier - finding Eddie’s friends already camped there. As a group you took it in turns to buy the drinks until the concert begun.
As the opening notes to Enter Sandman begun, everyone around you collectively lost their shit. You grabbed onto Eddie’s hands tightly and begun jumping up and down, headbanging and singing at the top of your lungs. Eddie is gripping your hands just as tightly, singing along loudly too.
As a group, the guys all look after you, ensuring nobody fucks with you. You’re just so overwhelmed with the environment, you don’t even really notice just how anxious and clammy Eddie is.
Twelve songs and little solos pass and the intro to Nothing Else Matters begins. You immediately get goosebumps, grabbing your lighter out of your pocket and joining the entire stadium with swaying them along to the music. As soon as James begins to sing, you immediately start crying - nothing beats hearing YOUR song live. After this song was released, Eddie spent weeks learning it on guitar to play for you. The two of you sung this together a lot.
When the small guitar solo begun, Eddie stepped away from you, all of the people around you stepping back too, giving you guys space. Eddie got down on one knee, looking up at you, tears in his eyes. “Y/N, will you marry me?” He asks, having to yell to get you to hear him, tears starting to spill down his cheeks. You immediately almost fall to the floor in shock, sobbing even more. “Oh my fucking God…” You yell back, nodding like crazy. “YES I will marry you!” You cry.  Eddie immediately gets up, placing the ring on your finger, pulling you in for a massive kiss.
When you guys pull apart, the entire group around you is cheering and pouring beer on you guys in celebration. You just laugh in response, kissing Eddie again. Eddie grins against your lips, before lifting you up and pulling you up onto his shoulders.
You immediately grin and start waving your hand around for everyone around you to see, cackling as you do so. James actually notices you waving your hand around and the glint of your ring just after his solo at the end of the song. “Hey, looks like we’ve got an engagement in the crowd!” He shouts into the microphone, earning a massive roar from the entire crowd. “Congratulations guys!” He yells, throwing a pick of his and a pick from Kirk towards you. No one around you tries to lunge for it, just allowing you to grab it. You catch it and blow the band a kiss. You look down at Eddie, who can barely believe his eyes. They immediately break into For Whom the Bell Tolls, which causes you to lose your shit yet again.
The rest of the night is a massive blur for you, you can’t believe it. You’re engaged, and to the love of your life, Eddie Munson. It happened your favourite bands’ concert and they noticed you. You’re almost in a complete and utter state of shock.
After the concert ends, the two of you linger behind everyone, waiting for it to empty out before attempting to leave. Eddie picks you up and puts you on his back, giving you a piggyback out, sensing your legs are probably aching. His are too but you are far more important to him.
When you reach the car, he opens the passenger door for you, letting you hop off his back and get in. He grabs a blanket from the backseat and wraps it around you before putting your seatbelt on for you. He gets into the drivers seat and puts his seatbelt on. “I love you so much.” You mumble sleepily. Eddie grins at you, leaning over and kissing your forehead. “I love you too.” He smiles.
After an hour or so, you end up back at your apartment. Eddie lets you wake up properly first before you guys head up to your apartment. He picks you up bridal style, a huge grin on his face. You have the bag of merchandise resting on top of you. Eddie unlocks the door, kicking it open and then shut behind the two of you. You throw the merchandise down on your sofa. “I can’t believe you want to marry me.” You say, running your thumb across his cheeks. Eddie can’t help but roll his eyes in response. “Don’t be silly. I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else.” He smiles, pulling you in for a gentle kiss.

Yesterday, Sunday, I went to The Eras Tour. I was supposed to go on friday but it got cancelled, so my concert ended up being the last one in Argentina; and by the way, this was my first concert ever,
This was the most magical and exciting experience of my life. I don't even know what to say, but I'm so so happy we made Taylor feel so loved and we showed the power of our crowd to her.
Tumblr media
I will talk about this concert, one. era. at a time.
Before the concert began, I talked with the girl who was on the seat next to me; she was so nice! I gave her bracelets. We talked about our favourite albums, which surprise songs we wanted... that was so relieving for me, since I am so so SO shy and I was feeling so nervous.
1. Lover
It's been a long time coming for sure. I was already screaming the songs, I was tearing up, I couldn't believe I was there. It all felt like a dream... It was funny to sing "You Need To Calm Down", when I was the one who needed to calm down!! hahaha.  When Lover started, I felt the need to hug someone and I NEVER hug people; that's the power Taylor has.
2. Fearless
Oh god. This era was when my mind started going "this can't be happening. oh my god. this is awesome. i need to contact little me and tell her what's going on. oh my god oh my god.". I grew up more with Red and 1989, but there were songs from Fearless (debut and speak now, too) that I've been listening to forever (& always). You Belong With me is one of them. There was a thing Spotify made last year, it was like a time capsule of songs, one of the questions was "which song would you want to hear live this year?", and I chose "You Belong With Me".        It happened.        My mind remembers the music video, hating the cheerleader, loving the nerd, the story this song tells will always warm my heart.
3. Evermore
This era was so chaotic and fun and it felt like I was watching a movie!! I mean, Tolerate It and Willow? AHHHHHHHHHH. Before Champagne Problems, Taylor said that it took her a while (yeah haha) to come to Argentina and she's never going to make that mistake again. So possibly for her next tour she'll come here again and I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. reputation
EVERYONE WAS SCREAMING "VA A REPUTAAAAAAR!! AAAAAAAAAAHhh!!". I got to experience the "1, 2, 3, let's go bitch" in person!! and I listened to the high notes in Ready For It? and Don't Blame Me live!!!!!!!!! AND Look What You Made Me Do live was HEALING. IT WAS A HEALING EXPERIENCE, it just hit so hard!!! GOOOOOD.
5. Speak Now
Ah ah ah, Ah ah ah. I WAS ENCHANTED TO MEET YOU, TAYLOR. Seeing her in that gorgeous dress, singing Enchanted: it was a fairytale. And I cried my eyes out during Long Live. SOMEDAY, WE WILL BE REMEMBERED.
6. Red
I remember this album (the original version) was the latest album Taylor had released when I found out about her and her music. So hearing these songs live was magical. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22! Also, honourable mention to Taylor's dancer who screamed "¡ni en pedo!" the three nights. I LOVED THAT. I Knew You Were Trouble is an ICONIC Taylor Swift song and I'm so happy I got to experience it. And of course, All Too Well... the whole stadium was red. All the bracelets were burning red. Everyone screamed "fuck the patriarchy!". I'll remember this all too well.
7. folklore
"So we have brought the folklore cabin to Argentina, haven't we?". folklore is another album that feels like a movie, or a book; when you see Taylor laying down and singing "you meet some woman on the internet and take, her, home..." you forget you're in the stadium full of people for a second. Betty! oh god! I will never forgive James for what he did to you. I'm sorry I sing along to every line of his apology. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD and that transition, from August to Illicit Affairs- AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Illicit Affairs is my second favourite song on folklore (after mirrorball). DON'T. CALL. ME. KID. DON'T. CALL. ME. BABY.
8. 1989
I stayed out too late last night and I loved every second of it. I danced a lot during the 1989 era and it was so so fun. I adore the Bad Blood coreography; and the fact that there was FIRE during this song. AHHHHHH. I could feel the heat!! It was awesome!!!
SURPRISE SONGS
Was this even real? I still can't believe it. She sang BETTER THAN REVENGE. I thought she'd never EVER sing this song again. Better Than Revenge is the song I play in my bedroom so loud that if someone screams in another room, I wouldn't hear them. It's one of my favourite songs. I could have never guessed this was going to be my surprise song, however, I am MORE than happy that it was.
Then, "Slut!". This was such a clever combination, I mean, Better than Revenge + Slut? It's so great. I remember when I first listened to Slut, it felt so nostalgic (well, probably because it was written 10 years ago haha). Taylor's voice was magical.
instagram
9. Midnights
And finally, Midnights. I started to feel a bit sad because I knew that the show was about to end now, but I decided to give it my all and 'be the loudest woman this town has ever seen'. Lavender Haze, Anti-Hero, Midnight Rain, Vigilante Shit, Bejeweled, Mastermind, Karma... every song was phenomenal. I love how she made the decision to end the show with Karma, such a fun song to leave us dancing and wanting more. Thank you, Taylor Swift. I love you. !!

Taehyung Scenario: I hope fate allows us to meet again
Okay y’all, so I had this dream about Taehyung last night and I can’t get it out of my head so here is the result of it. I hope you enjoy <3 Feels good to be back into writing again I missed it.
Tumblr media
“Goodbye Army! We purple you! We always purple you!” The fireworks were ringing out into the night air, painting the sky in hues of pink and gold. Mikrokosmos was playing in the background and you could hear army singing along to the ending. You hadn’t realized you were crying, hit with the emotions of it all until Taehyung looked at you and mouthed “Don't cry!” You wipe the tears away from your eyes and smile at him warmly. He gives you a wave before moving on down the stage and saying his goodbyes to the other army. You were so engrossed in the firework display that you didn’t even notice when they had left the stage until the music started fading out out and the stadium lights came back on.
Special thanks to the biggest love, Army. You see displayed on the screen and instantly the tears are forming again. You weren’t ready for the night to be over, you weren’t ready to say goodbye. Those hours you spent at the concert, surrounded by fans and BTS were the happiest moments of your life. You switched your army bomb over to the purple shade and refused to turn it off as you were walking out of the venue. You saw countless fans laughing, so happy to finally have seen their idols in person. But you also saw just as many that were so overwhelmed with emotions and were crying just like you. It made you feel less alone.
When you walked out of the venue you were suddenly hit with a wave of people and cars, causing you to feel anxious. You didn’t feel like fighting your way through a sea of people and knew you’d be stuck in traffic for hours. Plus you weren’t ready to go home yet, having the feeling that when you did finally get into your car and you were met with nothing but silence it would just be a reminder that the night really was over.
You walked to a section of the stadium outside where there seemed to not be as many people and just sat on the walkway, skimming through your phone and looking through all the photos and videos, smiling and laughing happily to yourself. You don’t realize how much time has passed until you notice how quiet it is. Almost all of the people are gone, you can see others in the distance but where you are right now is completely secluded. The video on your phone continues playing and you realize it is their ending ments. When you listen to Taehyung happily speaking to army you feel yourself tearing up again. What the hell is wrong with me?! You think. You look up and see black vans driving across the parking lot in front of you, Could they be in there? You ask yourself. You smile and wave anyway and see one of the vans come to a stop. Shit, what if it’s not them am I about to be kidnapped? You start to panic until you see a familiar figure step out of the car and walk towards you. Even though he’s wearing a mask you’d recognize those warm brown eyes anywhere.
*********************************
“Hyung! The concert was amazing! Did you see all our beautiful army? And oh my gosh that one fan was crying she was so sweet I just wanted to hug her.” Taehyung was talking animatedly with Hoseok in the back seat of the van as they were driving out into the parking lot.
“I saw that Tae. That was nice of you to comfort her I am sure she appreciated it very much and won’t ever forget your kindness.” He smiles to himself and happens to glance out of the window and sees a purple light not too far away. His heart is full with fondness at seeing a fan still here, finding comfort in the color purple and holding her army bomb close. That’s when he looks up to your face and recognizes you as the fan from earlier. Your eyes are puffy and he can tell you are still crying. He swears your eyes meet for a second even though he knows you can’t see him. When you wave he is instantly hit with an intense feeling of butterflies in his stomach.
“Wait stop the car!”
“Tae? What’s going on? Did you forget something?” The driver immediately stops and looks at him with a confused look on his face.
“Umm.. you guys go back to the hotel I want to do something real quick.” Taehyung opens the van door and is immediately yanked back by Hoseok.
“Tae what do you think you’re doing?!”
“She’s still here. And she’s still crying hyung.” He points at you and he sees the look of shock on your face.
“Tae, lots of fans cry after our show. Hell even we cry after almost every single one it’s a very emotional time.”
“I know that Hobi but I can’t just leave her there. You guys go back. The driver can come back for me later.” Leaving no room for argument he leaps out of the van and slams the door and starts walking towards you.
*********************************
Kim Taehyung is walking towards me. Oh god he’s taken his mask off he’s smiling at me. What the fuck do I do?! You’re internally panicking and don’t even fully register what is happening until you feel his leg brush against yours as he sits down next to you.
“I thought I told you not to cry. Ah look at you, your eyes are all red and irritated and your cheeks are puffy.” He reaches out and pokes your cheek and you can’t help the smile that breaks out onto your face. Taehyung smiles warmly back at you. “Much better. You should smile more it’s pretty.”
“Um.. I’m sorry. I get really emotional sometimes and I just have to cry to get it out. Today was a really happy day for me and I just got overwhelmed.” You refuse to address the fact that Taehyung just called your smile pretty otherwise you will surely go into cardiac arrest.
“Did you enjoy the show?”
“Did I-...? Of course I did are you kidding! You guys were amazing holy shit I-” You slap your hand over your mouth and Taehyung can see the blush spreading over your cheeks. “Sorry!” He laughs and you feel goosebumps forming on your arms at the sound of it.
“It’s okay. I’m glad you had fun. Which song was your favorite?”
“Well, Mikrokosmos was my favorite song but now I don’t know if I am going to be able to listen to it without sobbing because it’s just going to make me miss this so much. And what the heck was that singularity performance I thought you loved Army why are you trying to kill us?” He laughs loudly and you feel an arm wrap around your shoulder and look at him to find his eyes looking at you fondly. You look away, unable to handle the intensity of his gaze on you.
“Hey, don’t be sad about it! Just remember all of the happy memories instead. I know it’s hard to say goodbye but, you made a lot good memories here today.”
“Especially this one.” You cover your mouth again and he chuckles at you. “Sorry I am trying really hard to act normally but part of me thinks I am delusional and just imagining this right now because what the fuck? Kim Taehyung is sitting here talking to me on the sidewalk like we’ve been best friends for years.” At that he starts laughing whole heartedly and you love seeing his eyes crinkle up at the corners, you decide then that you never would get tired of being the cause of that joy on his face.
“You’re funny you know? So tell me about you! What’s your name? Where are you from? I want to know about you.” You two both fall into conversation with each other easily, telling him all about you and he is genuinely interested in what you say. His eyes are constantly locked with yours, and he asks you questions when he’s curious about something. Without realizing it over an hour has passed and you see the same black van pulling up in front of the two of you. You look at him and see his face fall.
“I guess I have to leave now..” He’s reluctant to go, lacing his fingers with yours and looking at you trying to convey the sincerity in his eyes. “I feel so lucky to have met you. You are such a warm and kind hearted person and you made me laugh more than I have in a while. So thank you for that.” He brings your hand up to his lips and lightly places a kiss to the back of it. He gives your hand a tight squeeze before letting go.
“I should be thanking you Tae. You didn’t have to comfort me but you did and I will be so grateful for that. I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life. You truly are an angel.” He gets up from the sidewalk but before getting into the van he turns around and looks at you with a sad smile on his face.
“Goodbye y/n. I hope fate allows us to meet again.”
“Me too Tae, me too.”

let me be there
Prompt: Music. Prompt from this generator.
No one ever taught Chris how to sing, not properly. He just sort of picked it up. One minute he was humming along with the car radio and the next, he was shuffle-stepping his way across the stage in community theater. Funny how that works.
It’s not like his parents are tone deaf; his mom sang in the church choir, for instance, long after she stopped believing in God. Or the Church’s version of the All Mighty, anyway. And his dad still air-guitars his way through traffic, jamming along behind the steering wheel in the early AM Boston rush.
But neither of them is a singer , neither of them thinks in scales and verses and rhymes. Where Chris got that from, nobody’s sure; but what he does with it, the life he’s made himself from it, there’s no mistaking that it’s all him.
*****
He meets Seb in the Dakotas, one of them, on the back end of a national tour. He’s not playing stadiums yet, just good-sized clubs, nothing crazy. His EP went viral and his LP’s rock solid on the charts; he’s making a name for himself, is Chris. He’s right there on the doorstep of big fame.
Seb doesn’t know any of that, doesn’t have the faintest idea who he is or what he’s doing in Pierre, why he’s standing in the back of an honest-to-god honky tonk on the far side of town. Chris had needed some air after his show, needed some time to himself, and a tour bus full of stir crazy claustrophobes offered...not that. They weren’t due to leave until four, though, and it was only quarter to one and so Chris had taken off in a taxi, asked the driver, a rough and tangle dude in a creased cowboy hat, to drive to whatever bar was his favorite and have a drink or six on Chris.
Which was how he’d come to be leaning against the bar at the back of The Dry Well, beaming up at the stage, watching a couple of local guitar pokes go to town on some Hank and some Johnny, a little Merle Haggard and Crystal Gayle.
The place had the sleepy feel of overnight coming, of one beer too many, of cigarette smoke caught by the open windows and tugged out into the dark. And dark it was, too, all around; The Dry Well was a sentinel, a kind of stalwart, standing between human and prairie, between civilization, such as it was, and the long flat plans lulled to sleep by the wind.
Chris was on his second whiskey, straight, and he wasn’t smoking only because Rob, his base player, had stomped on his one and only last pack.Tsk tsk, Rob had said the night before, grinning, grinding the Marlboro Reds under his boot. No smoke till Brooklyn, kiddo. Them’s the rules. And you wrote ‘em.
One more week and he’d be home free, could drag down as much as he liked, but goddamn if he wasn’t impatient, if he wasn’t dying to feel that featherweight in his fingers, see the flare of flame each time he drew breath.
God, he thinks, throwing back the last of the Jack, the last few dates are always the worst. Ready to be home but still thrilled to be loved every night, to have his own words sung back at him by crowds of people he’ll never know but who’ve memorized lines he wrote when his heart was breaking; when he was on top of the world; when he was in a pit of his own making. Maybe it should be terrifying, to hear himself stripped down every night, to feel people sing out what once was his most tender marrow, but for Chris, it’s exhilarating even now, after two months’ worth of shows.
He’ll be home for three weeks and then they’ll be out again, gone, off to Europe and Asia and a few dates in South America--his first international swing. It’s hard for him to believe it, to picture it, he and the band standing on stages in Tokyo and Prague and Buenos Aires, watching people stand up and sing along.
He gulps a little and sets down his glass. Bites back the jitters. That’s the plan, anyway. Who knows if it’ll actually go down that way?
Scarlett, his drummer, is certain it will. Mackie, his piano man, isn’t quite so optimistic.
And Chris? He scrubs a hand over his eyes, breathes in hard to pick up some smoke. He’s not sure yet. They’ll just have to wait and see.
There’s a tap on his shoulder. “Hey,” somebody says behind him. “You’re dry. Want another?”
Chris half-turns his head, expecting to see the blond bartender from earlier--all muscle and teeth and surfer-boy charm--but it’s a dark-haired guy with sharp blue eyes and a quirked eyebrow instead. His surprise must show on his face, even in the gloom, because the guy laughs a little, shaking his head.
“No, you’re not hallucinating,” the guy says. “Chris went off shift ten minutes ago. Had a date. I’m a soft touch; told him I’d clean up tonight.”
“That was nice of you.”
A shrug. “He worked late for me last week. I owed him. Anyway, he’s a damn good bartender and they’re not easy to find in this town.” He grins, a slow slide that takes up his whole face. “Not easy to keep, anyway.”
Chris blinks. “Oh. So, this is your bar?”
The guy pats the counter, gives a cute, scrunched-up smirk. “It is.”
“Oh,” Chris says again. Something about the man makes him feel itchy, kind of pleasantly nervous. Or maybe that’s just the empty stomach booze. “It’s, ah. Uh huh.”
Blue eyes sets his elbows on the bar and leans over a little like he’s sharing a secret, lowers his voice below now Skynard-shaped din. “You still haven’t answered my question, man.”
“What?”
The guy points. “You want another round or not? That glass of yours is looking awful lonely.”
“Honestly?” Chris says, because it’s that kind of o’clock in the morning. “I would kill for a cig.”
That smile again, like warm caramel. “Technically, this is a no smoking bar.”
Now it’s Chris’ turn to throw up an eyebrow. “Dude, come on. Seriously? This place is like a dragon’s lair.”
“Technically. I said technically .” The man pats his pockets, then reaches under the bar. “As in, everybody else breaking the rules is one thing. Me, upstanding owner that I am? I know better than that.” He comes up with a soft pack and a lighter, nods towards the back door. “Come outside with me and protect my reputation.”
Outside, the night is cool and still, the first hints of winter creeping up over the plains. It’s dark beyond the dull streetlight, the last sigil between the bar and what feels like the wild, and Chris tips back against the building for that first hot glorious drag.
“Been awhile?” Blue eyes is looking at him, clearly entertained.
Chris’ eyes are watering and his lungs feel like sandpaper. God, it’s fantastic. “What makes you say that?” he chokes out.
The guy looks away and lifts his own to his lips, take a short pull. “You sounded like you were kissing somebody you hadn’t seen in a long, long time.”
Chris laughs, the long of the night, the whiskey, the heady furl of tobacco too much to let that shit go. “You’ve been listening to too much old country, man, spitting out corny shit like that.”
“Seb,” the man says. “‘You’ve been listening to too much old country, Seb.”
“Yeah,” Chris says, waving his ash away, “that. And I’m Chris.”
Seb takes his outstretched hand, shakes it, and Chris squeezes back. “Nice to meet you, Chris.”
“You, too.”
They smoke in silence for a while, the thrum of the music inside neatly boxed up behind them. If Chris listens close enough, reaches back with his hand, he can feel the notes vibrating, the drunken edge of the song leaking through. But he doesn’t want to hear music right now, doesn’t want to think about songs; he just wants to be right here with Seb, right now.
And Seb seems good with that, too.
“Can I ask you something?” Chris asks after a while, as the filter approaches.
“Yeah. Sure.”
“Aren’t you a little young to own a place like this?”
“Believe it or not,” Seb deadpans, “I am over 21.”
Chris laughs. “Not what I meant, now. Come on.”
Seb chuckles, too. “You mean, I’m too young to run an old fogies bar?”
“I mean, yeah. Pretty much. Don’t get me wrong, I do like it. A lot. I just”--Chris gestures with his cig, a drag of fire between them--“can’t help but notice that you’re like 30 years younger than most of your patrons.”
Seb shrugs, easy. “It was my mom’s place, truth be told. I kind of grew up here. Haven’t had the heart to change it, that’s all.”
“Oh, geez. Your, uh, mom, did she--?”
“No! No, man. Heh! No. She’s fine.” Seb gives him a grin. “Just got tired of it, that’s all. The hurly and the burly of it, you know. The grind. She lives on the other side of the city, near the college. Alive and well, I promise. She comes in sometimes when she’s bored, gets tired of running around the garden or whatever.” A sharp kick of his cig, a short flare towards the asphalt. “I mean, she doesn’t actually garden. Would probably be happier if she did. She’s the kind of person who needs like six hobbies, you know? Just to keep herself out of her head.”
“Ah,” Chris says. “Yeah, yeah. I get that.”
“What about you? What do you do?”
“Me?” A rush of blush up Chris’ throat, a sudden, unexpected sort of shy. “I, ah. I kind of sing.”
“Oh, cool. As a like a job or a hobby, or--?”
“A, um, a job.” He has the weird urge to hide his face in his hand.
“Wow.” Seb turns to face him, one shoulder edged into brick. “That’s pretty damn impressive. You must be good.”
“Got a good band,” Chris says, like he always does during interviews or press events when people pay him a compliment. “Believe me, that goes a long way.”
“Sure, but I’m talking about you. Great band ain’t worth shit if the front man can’t sing.” Seb jerks his thumb at the wall. “Trust me. I know.”
“I’m”--Chris takes one last hit and toss the filter on the ground, grinds it under his heel--“I do all right, I guess.”
Seb laughs. “I’m not gonna ask you to prove it, don’t worry.”
“I didn’t think that you were.” A pause. “Ok, I hoped that you wouldn’t. Was hoping real hard.”
“Are you from here? You don’t sound like you are.”
“No, from back east. Boston.”
“So you’re here for a gig?” It isn’t really a question.
“Yeah.”
It’s quiet for a minute; even the noise inside settles. It’s just them, for a moment, and the waning hours of the night.
Seb’s fingers find the edge of his shirt, a hint of warmth against his arm. “Are you gonna get back out this way, you figure?”
The weight of those fingers makes Chris’ lids heavy, heavy. Heavier still. “Not for a while, no. Maybe next year, I don’t know. Kind of depends on how things go.”
“Things?”
“The record. Depends on how the record does over time. It’s doing pretty good now, it’s just--yeah. It depends.”
Sebastian squeezes his wrist, sears his skin somehow through his clothes. “You always undersell yourself like this, Chris?”
“Like what?”
“I’m guessing you don’t when you’re on stage. I bet you fucking glow under the lights, huh? Don’t you, babe?”
Chris shivers and twists his arm until their hands catch, until their palms are pressed together, their fingers folded. “Can I ask you something, Seb?”
“Sure you can.”
“Would you kiss me?”
“If you want.”
Chris tugs him closer. “Would you take me home, or somewhere? I’ve only got a couple of hours. Maybe less.”
Seb makes a soft, hurt sound, the kind that sinks between Chris’ hips, the kind that makes his whole body alight. “Yeah, I can do that.”
“Would you--?”
Seb smiles, stretches it up and over Chris’ chin. “Whatever the question is, babe, the answer is yes.”
“But,” Chris says, grinning back, his arm snaking around Seb’s neck. “I thought you had to close tonight.”
A snort and a smooch, messy on Chris’ throat, silly and wet. “You let me worry about that,” Seb says. “Huh? This is my goddamn bar.”
Chris dips his head and they’re kissing, hot and stupidly tender, out there in the dark, out there under the stars.
*****
Later, when he's tucked up in his bunk on the bus, he stays awake past sunrise; watches the light creep up the streets, devour the rough, brown fields, settle up high in the sky.
"Hey," Rob says, popping up over the edge, his chin cutting into the mattress. "Where were you? I thought Scar was gonna send out the dogs."
"Just needed some time alone. You know."
"Uh huh." A beat. "Well. Nice to see you smiling, anyway."
Chris turns his head. "What? I smile, man."
Rob's mouth twitches. "Sure you do, kiddo. But it's been a long time since I've seen you smile like that."
You can call me, Seb had murmured, his lips nudging Chris' ear. If you want to.
You'd better believe it.
And you can come back any time you want. A kiss, firm and breathtaking. By which I mean, you'd better.
He'd taken Seb's face in his hands and leaned back, grinned up into those mid-July eyes. How does three weeks sound?
Oh, good. So goddamn good. I mean, two days would be better. An hour, come to think of it, best, but--
Chris had laughed, made Seb taste it, licked that smug little smirk off his face.
"Yeah," Rob says now, poking Chris in the shoulder. "Exactly. Like that."
He hops down, scuttles off, and Chris turns to the window, a line of notes running wild inside his head, and he falls asleep with them on the tips of his fingers, dreams of a stadium crowded with people singing Seb--Sebastian's--name.

Get to know me tag!
Tagged by: the lovely @writtenwhalien 💗
When is your birthday?
March 31st
What is your favorite color?
Purple, it's always been purple.
What’s your lucky number?
I don't have any. Honestly, I haven't had any good luck. I don't want to sound pessimistic but that's what I get from life thus far 😅 (Hopefully, it'll change at some point!)
Do you have any pets?
No, but I wish I had but my parents were never too keen on having animals in the apartment.
How tall are you?
5'3
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Around 5-6, I think...
Favorite song?
Well I love listening to a lot of music, it's been my number #1 hobby since forever but I'll name 5 songs that I can't press the skip button; What A Feeling by One Direction, Scary Love by The Neighborhood, Don't You Know by James Young, Dark In My Imagination by Of Verona & Hollywood's Bleeding by Post Malone.
Favorite movie?
Seriously, too many to name. I'm a film geek – my number #2 hobby since forever as well. I enjoy watching from Marvel & DC to Titanic & The Notebook. I'd say I'm a sucker for action, adventure, sci-fi, horror, crime & old school romance genres. But lately, I'm into tv-shows a bit more (obvsly!) I also love cartoons & animes.
What would be your ideal partner?
Someone who's honest but respectful, calm, casual, expressive, understanding and down to earth. They should have some of the same positive qualities as me, but also different enough so that they can balance my negative traits. In other words, anyone who can deal with me, lol.
Do you want children?
Children freak me out to be honest, because having kids is a huge responsibility but they always say I'll be probably wanting later. So I guess I do, but only when I'll feel ready & mature enough.
Have you gotten in trouble with the law?
No, and I don't want to.
What color socks are you wearing?
I'm not wearing any socks right now. I mean, it's 39°C degrees in my city (y'all wouldn't want to either)
Bath or shower?
For me it's definitely showers.
Favorite type of music?
C'mon?! How can someone have only one favorite type of music? I love hearing literally anything as long as it speaks to me.
How many pillows do you sleep with?
Two
Which position do you sleep in?
On my stomach with my head to one side and my arms wrapped around the pillow. Yep, I'm a pillow-hugger.
What don’t you like when you’re sleeping?
When someone turns on the bedroom light.
What do you have for breakfast?
A cup of whole milk with chocolate flavored powder (ever heard of Nesquik? 😋)
Have you ever tried archery?
No, I haven't but I'd like to.
Favorite fruit?
Strawberries, bananas, peaches, tangerines, pineapples, red apples and wine grapes.
Favorite swear word?
Asshole, fuck, or holy shit, but in my native language (greek people can relate) It's not that these are my favorite words but the most used ones. My bad, I know.
Do you have any scars?
No, but that's weird because I fall all the time 😂
Are you a good liar?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Make your theories...
What’s your personality type?
Protagonist ENFJ–A
What’s your favorite type of girl?
All of them, female empowerment!
Left or right handed?
Left handed
Favorite food?
Anything that's unhealthy for sure, lol 😂 I also like creamy pasta with mushrooms and lots of cheesy food 😋😍
Are you clean or messy?
Clean, clean, clean!
Favorite foreign food?
My all time favorite will always be turkish cheese manti kulak.
How long does it take for you to get ready?
10-15 mins for everyday casual looks and 30-35 mins if full face makeup gets included.
Most used phrase?
Oh my god, for sure (but mostly in greek)
Are you a good singer?
I'd say I have a good voice but not something special or professional. I used to sing in my elementary school choir for five years and when I was finishing school I was chosen by my music teacher as one of the top 7 voices in the choir to sing in a stadium along with the other 6 members in a national concert in honor of a famous greek composer.
Do you sing to yourself?
All the time, duh!
Biggest fear?
Being lonely, failing in life, death.
Do you like long or short hair?
Not too long, not too short. Something in between.
Are you into gossips?
Not really, I avoid gossiping unless they've done something really bad. But I usually prefer judging them right in their face.
Extrovert or introvert?
I'm an extroverted introvert (if that makes sense, lmao) It really depends on who's around me. If I feel comfortable with the people I associate with, then I'll tell them the story of my life. But if I feel awkward or an outsider I'll share absolutely nothing with them. If someone needs my help, though, I'm always there to help.
Favorite school subject?
All kinds of arts.
What makes you nervous?
I have no idea because there are times that I feel nervous about things that last time I was completely fine dealing with.
Who was your first real crush?
A classmate from elementary school. Our parents used to hang out a lot when we were kids and called each other in-laws for fun just because we were always announcing that we were going to get married when we would grow up 😂
How many piercings do you have?
First ear piercings, I'm a bit scared for more tbh.
How fast can you run?
I don't know, but definitely not too fast.
What makes you angry?
When people I don't even know tell me what to do, when someone's not educated enough about something and thinks only he's opinion is right. And when people are talking trash about me behind me back.
Do you like your own name?
Well, it's good.
What are your weaknesses?
I've only had one weakness before, my weight. That's because I'm underweight and I was born this way. Lots of people every so often made me feel bad about it and sometimes they made me feel like I'm sick. Now, I don't give a shit.
What are your strengths?
One thing I'm grateful for is my natural resilience, it's helped me a lot with life difficulties.
What is the color of your bedspread?
Light grey
Color of your room?
Salmon pink
It took me forever, omg. But it was fun! 🥰

Hufflepuff!Joshua and Slytherin!Jihoon Hogwarts Headcanons
HUFFLEPUFF!JOSHUA:
Literally the sweetest boi, I cri
When he was put in Hufflepuff no one was surprised because he spent the whole train ride there being his gentlemanly self
Helping people with their luggage if he saw them struggling or having a hard time carrying their things
Holding doors for everyone- the ladies and  gentlemen
Because let’s be real- Joshua Hong don’t care about your gender he just wants you to be happy and comfortable
The lady with the snack cart rolls around to his section of the train and asks if he wants to buy anything
And he’s like “oh no thank you, but hi what’s your name”
Cue Joshua befriending the lady and learning her life story and the names of her 6 kids
The lady is like “can I give an award to your parents for raising you to be this way”
And Joshua is like !!! “My parents are great I’ll tell you why!”
He tells the lady everything about his family and is so happy and  enthusiastic and the woman is almost in tears she’s so touched
She’s all “if you need anYTHinG don’t hesitate to find me”
She low key leaves him a bunch of snacks without charging him
And he’s like “oh she must’ve left these, how nice” and shares with the other students around him and adfghjk  can you tell I love Joshua Hong because I do like who doesn’t
I stg it’s impossible not to love him
BUT ANYWAY
FLASH TF FORWARD
You know he’s one of the Prefects for Hufflepuff because like who else is more qualified? Soonyoung? No ma'am. Not unless we want a dance party every time people are trying to study in the commons room.
Is really helpful and caring over the younger students and if he sees they’re getting frustrated/sad/homesick, he’ll just go full out dorky and get them to laugh
Student: *is sad*
Joshua: “Wanna see how high I can sing?” *SCREAMS*
Student: *not breathing enough because of how hard they’re laughing*
If anyone questions his prefect method of handling things (which is usually in a casual and memey way) he’s just responds like “well it’s a good thing they didn’t make you prefect, you obviously have no idea what you’re doing”
*air horn noise x1000* KILL EM JOSH
if he’s really worn out or just generally feeling down after a long day, he’ll go to his bed and slide his guitar out from the space under his bed frame and play really relaxing and beautiful melodies and sing along
And EVERYONE KNOWS JOSHUA DOES THIS BC IF YOU HEARD THIS ANGEL DO MUSIC THINGS WOULD YOU KEEP QUIET? nope
So if someone hears Joshua playing in his dorm room from the commons room it’ll be a chorus of shuffling and whispers of “he’s playing again! Everyone hush and listen!” Until everyone literally stops what they’re doing to listen to his beautiful voice and rhythmic guitar playing.
Joshua wonders why he finds most of the Hufflepuff kids asleep in the commons room the next morning like “how did you all manage to fall asleep here?? Why wouldn’t you go to bed?”
And Seungkwan and Hoshi are all “wELL yOU know these couches are so comfy ahaha”
And Joshua is just like “ …k good to know”
Everyone knows that if Joshua is ever up late playing pretty music it’s because he’s feeling down so they make like an organized system so that the next day, everyone is nice to him and only good things happen.
Someone’s clumsy owl is flying straight for Joshua? Hoshi jumps and grabs it out of the air and then runs tf away so Joshua doesn’t notice anything happened.
Some jerk looks like they’re about to start a fight with him? Seungkwan “accidentally” drops a vial of newts urine on the jerk.
Seungkwan: *hair flips* “hmm… sorry bout that” *walks away*
Joshua: “??? Are you okay? Let me help you”
Joshua would literally help the guy clean himself up OBLIVIOUS TO THE GUY’S ILL INTENTIONS TOWARDS HIM and the guy would be like “WHY DID I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS ANGEL, I MUST PROTECT HIM”
And this is how everyone comes to love Joshua
Because how can you not?
ALSO
Joshua was talking with some random Hufflepuff kiddo about Naruto and a pureblood Hufflepuff walked by and was like “wtf is a naruto”
And joshua was like “bro its an anime how do you not know this”
And then the pureblood kid was like “wait what is anime?”
Joshua immediately calls for a Hufflepuff house meeting
“Okay guys it’s come to my attention that some of us aren’t aware of a certain reALLY awESoME thing called anime so we’re gonna have a marathon of a handful of them. I chose Fairytail, One Piece, and Haikyuu for tonight, let’s do it!”
Half the kids are like “hECK YES”, and the other half are like “??? If it makes Joshua happy then sure I’ll stay”
Some kid: “what about Yuri On Ice??”
Joshua: “what ABOUT Yuri On Ice?”
Another kid: “wait doesn’t Jeonghan kind of look like Victor?”
Joshua: “omg, you’re right. no one tell him about it but let’s Photoshop his face onto Victor and fill his dorm with copies of it”
The kids: “Joshua aren’t you supposed to be nice”
Joshua: “I’m nice to you now hush Natsu is about to breathe fire”
A couple of days later Ravenclaw!Jeonghan (at this point in time his hair is dyed silver and is longer like in the Mansae era) storms up to the Hufflepuff dorms with hands full of crumpled Victor posters, demanding to see Joshua
Joshua is just like “oh it must’ve been one of your ravenclaw kids, us Hufflepuffs know not to start trouble”
Jeonghan: “what do you mean you don’t start trouble, you have Seungkwan and Soonyoung in your house”
Seungkwan: “LISTEN VICTOR GO BACK TO YOUR DORM”
Jeonghan dyed his hair black and cut it shorter the next day
All the Hufflepuffs were snickering and Joshua was like “doN’t make fun of him”
Joshua: “hey Jeonghan nice hair” *knowing smirk*
Moral of the story, everyone just wants this memey boy to be happy and loved, and he definitely is. Even by Jeonghan.
SLYTHERIN!JIHOON
Don’t make fun of his height unless you want to be hexed.
Literally the other Slytherins call him “Prince of Hexing”
He really likes hexes the best because they’re worse than jinxes but not at bad as curses
They’re just the right amount of “don’t fuck with me, I dare you”
Is also a prefect like Joshua,  but more because he’s really smart and good at handling situations that require leadership (like who could be the leader of a subunit with memes like Seungkwan and DK and not be a good leader smh)
The other houses are like “woah this guy is hardcore”
But his Slytherin kids know he’s a softie :)))
Jihoon: “hey quit running in the hallway, who do you think you are”
Actual translation of his emotions: “don’t run in the hall because someone’s gonna get hurt and I’ll be upset if you guys are in pain”
He’s soft. But disguises it well.
NO ONE TELLS HIM THAT HE’S SOFT UNLESS THEY WANNA BE HEXED THOUGH
Unless you’re like already good friends with him and just picking fun at each other and are like “aww you’re a cutie, ya know”
Jihoon’s cheeks will flush brighter than a tomato
Also the sleeves of his robes are a lil too long for his arms so he has constant sweater paws and it’s the cutest thing
I’m not saying that he has a prank war with Gryffindor!Seungcheol but that’s exactly what I’m saying
All the stereotypical negativity between Slytherins and Gryffindors has been channeled into pranking each other.
For the most part it’s Slytherins Jihoon, Jun, Minghao, and Chan vs. Gryffindors Seungcheol, Vernon, and Mingyu.
This war was initiated in the dining hall on one fine day *ba dum tss*
Seungcheol may or may not have slipped a love potion into Jihoon’s drink (literally just for shits and giggles like he had no real reason to, he just wanted to see what would happen)
the next person to go talk to Jihoon was Hufflepuff!Soonyoung
Let’s just say that after a very accidentally romantic conversation between the two, that Soonyoung still has a crush on him lol (who wouldn’t)
Soonyoung: “SEUNGCHEOL THANK YOU”
Seungcheol: “??? You’re welcome?”
Meanwhile Jun, Minghao, and Chan who were at the Slytherin table at the time never let Jihoon live it down
So Jihoon is like “alright revenge time”
So he plans to hex Seungcheol because like. that’s just what he does, he’s Prince of Hexes.
He goes to the stadium one day because he left his bag behind when he was leaving quidditch practice (his position on the team is beater) and was like “oh God my homework is in there, what if it rains???”
What a cute studious boy
But yeah he’s getting his bag from the stands and thought that no one else was in the stadium but there he is. Choi Seungcheol. Out on his broom practicing (He’s the captain of the Griffindor quidditch team).
Jihoon is like “welp it’s now or never”
But he finds himself hesitating.
he realizes that if he hexes Seungcheol, the role model for the Gryffindor kids, how is that going to reflect on their opinion of Slytherin kids?
And Jihoon does NOT want anyone fucking around with his kids.
So instead of putting a painful hex on Seungcheol, he turns Seungcheol’s originally black hair, very very pink.
And he just leaves the stadium.
Seungcheol meanwhile has no idea that this has happened, because he’s intensely practicing and there’s no mirrors around because it’s a stadium
He only finds out when he walks into the Gryffindor commons room, vry tired from practice, and goes up to his dorm which he shares with Mingyu.
Mingyu sees him and loSES IT
He can’t even say why he’s laughing because he’s laughing so hard
Seungcheol is literally about to throw hands when Mingyu just shoves a hand-held mirror in his face
Seungcheol stops moving and just thinks really hard.
And he knows that it was Jihoon. he knows in his sOUL that it was Jihoon.
Mingyu is like “its okay man do you want me to fix it?”
But Seungcheol is like “no. let’s have the rest of the school see what he did”
Mingyu: “pffft okay, princess bubblegum”
Seungcheol: “right back at you, Cheeto”
Mingyu: :/
ANYWAY BACK TO JIHOON
The next day in the dining hall (because yes this is a high school, it’s just for magic and stuff, so like all high school dramas/movies, shit is gonna go down in the caf)
Seungcheol walks right up the Jihoon who’s sitting at the Slytherin table and is like “like my hair? ;)))”
Jihoon is like “yeah, it really suits you”
And Seungcheol
My boy, Seungcheol
We know how he gets a lil reckless when he’s competitive
So Seungcheol says “I’m surprised you could even see the color from all the way down there”
Before Jihoon can stand up or react or do anything, Seungcheol’s pink hair is covered in an apple pie
An apple pie that Slytherin!Minghao just happened to be taking to Jun who was sat further down the table
Jun: *yelling at Minghao in Chinese* “omg my freaking pie!!”
Minghao: *yelling back in Chinese* “it was fOR A GOOD CAUSE”
Seungcheol is just standing there. And on the inside he’s thinking “fair move, Slytherin”
And he just turns and gives Mingyu and Vernon a certain look full of determination and a lil bit of craziness tbh
They know what Seungcheol wants them to do
Cue Mingyu’s look of horror and Vernon’s biggest smile
Vernon stands on the Gryffindor table and yells loud enough for everyone to hear:
"FOOD FIGHT!!”
And metaphorically speaking, shit hits the fan. Literally speaking, Minghao is immediately pied in the face by Jun.
Minghao: *still yelling in Chinese* “WE’RE ON THE SAME SIDE”
No but for real everyone in Gryffindor and Slytherin are throwing food across the cafeteria at each other.
And you know how in the dining hall there’s just four really long tables, one for each house? Well the Slytherin and Gryffindor tables are the outside tables.
Which means they are throwing food OVER the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff tables. and a lot of food begins to hit these two houses too
Jeonghan and Joshua just make eye contact and nod and then everyone is in this fight
It lasts for about fifteen minutes until the professors can get it under control
When the professors ask who started it, everyone knows about Seungcheol and Jihoon’s feud, so the finger is pointed at them.
While sitting in Dumbledore’s study, its dead silent but Jihoon and Seungcheol are shooting glances at each other every couple of seconds
Until they finally make eye contact and bust out laughing
“did you see Seungkwan get knocked out of his chair because Vernon threw a whole chicken at him?”
“Of course but did you see the look on Jeonghan’s face when Wonwoo smeared peanut butter into his hair?”
Dumbledore walks in and is like “I see you don’t regret your actions, but you’ve made a special bond with one another, so I’ll let you off the hook this time around”
Seungcheol: “wow, really?”
Dumbledore: “lol no, you two get to clean up the whole dining hall, without using magic. But that’ll give you two more time to get to know one another and realize you’re more similar than you think”
So Jihoon and Seungcheol spend the whole night cleaning, but they also talk the whole time, too.
By the end of the night it’s like they’ve know each other their entire lives.
The next day, Jihoon sees Seungcheol in the dining hall and smiles at him and everyone is like “…what. Jihoon just smiled at someone. and it was seuNGCHeoL. Are they friends now?”
But everyone just goes along with it and no one holds any grudges.
Except for Minghao @Jun lmao

Highlights from my concert experience
Ok, so none of the people who agreed to a photograph gave permission to be posted online--I had already asked for a photo, I figured asking to post online would be a bit much. BUT what I can do is describe some of the stuff I saw:
* I got to the venue at 4:30; the concert started at 7:30, but I had no idea what to do in Chicago for three hours. Just as well, cause there was already a good little line/mob forming outside the gates when I got there. * No less than 3 people with blue hair--two were dyed, one was a wig (2D cosplay). * So many Gorillaz shirts everywhere! Humanz cover shirts, yes, but there was stuff from phase one, even (I saw a shirt with the Rock the House single cover on it). These are some long time fans, I thought to myself, and smiled. * Someone in full sailor garb, like 2D--captain's hat, red striped shirt, yunno. * Someone in Noodle's basketball shirt from the Dare video. * Once I got in the gates, it got better. I got two photos of two different women in Noodle's cat mask from phase 3, the mob at the gear stall was NUTS. Side note: if I didn't have to worry about public transport home, you bet your ass I would have shelled out more than $35 bucks for a tee shirt or sweat shirt (highest one was a Murdoc sweatshirt, $65. The 2D shirt I wanted was $55). Got a pic of a man with a "Gem Dayz" Steven Universe album cover shirt--he was with one of the Noodle mask women. * Once the concert actually started...my god. The ENERGY in the air...I have never felt anything quite like it. They started with Ascension, and the whole place EXPLODED into the lyrics. Thousands of voices all singing at once, it was COSMIC. Most every song after that was like that, actually, my throat still kinda hurts from screaming along. * I squealed--like a frickin balloon losing air--when they started playing El Mañana, because the music video was playing on the screen behind them. That was my first Gorillaz video, you know. The one that started it all...kind of. I liked the music before I knew the backstory. * One of the last songs they played was Clint Eastwood. If you've never heard an entire stadium of people lose their collective shit at a few opening notes on a melodica, well, I frankly have no words to describe it to you. * Damon Albarn, between songs, took the time to tell us how much he loved Chicago. And also to look at the full moon, because we were in an outdoor stadium and I guess he likes the moon. That's my favorite part, because I too must point out the moon every time I see it (I did, actually, before the show started). * Del The Funkee Homosapien HIMSELF came out to rap his parts in Clint Eastwood--I'm told this is a rare occurrence, so that was neat. * During the Andromeda chorus, the screen showed silhouettes of the cartoon band throughout the phases--I could almost hear "How Far We've Come" playing in my head. * Honestly, I thought the concert was ending about fifty different times, because every song they performed, they performed strong enough to end on. Every song could have been a mini concert, it was that good.
If I had the time and money, I'd do it all again a hundred times over. Literally nothing but time and money could make it any more of a perfect day.

i don’t sleep and i can’t follow directions
I don’t take credit for these questions.
How many concerts have you been to? I’ve lost count. Dozens.
Have you been to any festivals? Warped Tour, three times.
Which artist/band have you seen the most live?  The Summer Set, four times. First concert you went to?  Clay Walker and Lorrie Morgan, 1994. Last concert you went to? Goo Goo Dolls at Darien Lake last year. We always try to go to the Buffalo shows since they’re from there and it’s the closest venue to our hometown. What is your next concert? As of right now, All Time Low in Pittsburgh July 25. It’s the day before my birthday so Dave got us VIP tickets. And I bought one for my sister.
Which artists/bands would you love to see live?  There are too many to name. A lot I’ve seen before. But my biggest one is Paramore. The farthest you’ve traveled to go to a concert?  Six hours. Four to get back home to pick up Dave’s brother and then another two from there to Darien Lake.
Best opening act you’ve seen? The first time I saw Set it Off they were opening for Every Avenue, and I fell in love with them immediately. And I love love loved Austin Gibbs when he opened for The Maine.   Worst opening act you’ve seen? They weren’t bad, per say, but I wasn’t really into Chester French when we saw GGD and the Spill Canvas.
Have you met any bands/artists at a concert?  Louden Swain. What’s one thing you have to bring to a concert?  Camera. What’s the most you’ve paid for a ticket?  I think the last time I saw Alabama with my sister and her husband they were over a hundred apiece but my ticket was a birthday gift. Most I’ve ever paid was probably around $60. Best concert you’ve been to? Alabama both times, Goo Goo Dolls & Spill Canvas in 2010, and Every Avenue in 2012.   Worst concert you’ve been to?  I’ve never been to a bad one. Have you been in a social media post an artist posted after a show?  Probbbbably not. Funniest concert memory? This doesn’t have anything to do with the concert itself, but at Every Avenue my friend Tyler told me my hair looked voluptuous when he meant voluminous and we still laugh about it five years later.   Do you buy your tickets as soon as they go on sale, after, or the day of? Whenever I can.   Have you ever been noticed by an artist at a concert?  YES Alex and Jeremy from Mayday Parade both pointed at me when I was like two feet away from them.
Have you met any internet friends at a concert?  No but at Pittcon last year I made friends with the couple sitting next to me during Louden Swain and we still talk on twitter sometimes. Which concert that you’ve been to has had the best stage setup/production? Keith Urban for sure. Have you ever caught a guitar pick, drumstick, got a setlist, etc.? I got a guitar pick during Boys Like Girls a long time ago but I don’t know where it is. Favorite concert venue?  Darien Lake. Least favorite concert venue? Actually I’m not a fan of the First Niagara Center in Buffalo. Too big.
Which do you prefer: indoor or outdoor concerts?  Outdoor unless it’s like a bar. Which do you prefer: clubs, theaters, arenas, or stadiums?  Clubs I guess. Does Darien Lake count as a stadium?  Have you ever missed school or work to go to a concert? I’ve taken off work but I had paid vacation time.   Have you ever been surprised with tickets from someone?  Yep. My family got me Keith Urban tickets for my 16th birthday. And for both Pittcon and the upcoming ATL show Dave surprised me. He just sent me screenshots of the order confirmations lol
Who do you enjoy going to concerts with?  Anyone. I live for concerts. General admission or seated concerts? Both. Have you been to multiple dates for one tour?  No but I would if I had the disposable income. Have you been to concerts 2 or more days in a row? Nope. Have you ever received free tickets from a contest or an artist’s crew? Nah, they were either birthday gifts or I bought them myself. Luckily my birthday falls right in the middle of prime concert season. Have you been front row and/or back row for a concert?  I’ve been right up to the stage at GA shows, never been way in the back. Have you ever gotten sick, bruised, or broken a bone after a concert? No I just always lose my voice from singing/screaming. Have you ever had surprise guests at a concert you attended?  Not really, but it was awesome when Jason Lancaster came out to sing Miserable at Best with Mayday Parade even though he was touring with Go Radio at the time.  Did you start listening to an opening act after you saw them in concert?  SET IT OFF!!! What’s the latest you’ve got home from a concert?  Jeez, like 3 or 4am I think. When is the earliest you’ve arrived to a venue for a concert? A couple hours before. Have you seen your favorite artist in concert?  Yes, several of them. Keith Urban three times, Goo Goo Dolls three times, and Alabama twice. This year will be my second time seeing All Time Low. Longest you’ve waited in line for a concert?  Like an hour maybe. Lines usually move along pretty quickly were I come from. Have you ever attended a concert alone? No, half the fun of going is being with friends. I have, however, broken off from my group at Warped if we wanted to see different bands that were playing at the same time.
What’s the best part of a concert in your opinion?  Uh, everything? The music, the energy, the memories, the beer. It’s the only, literally ONLY, time I ever feel comfortable being around a huge crowd because we’re all there for the same thing and just totally feeling it all. It’s amazing.
Have you ever heard/seen an artist soundcheck before their show?  At Warped you kinda have to because everything moves so fast. What’s the biggest venue you’ve been to a concert at?  I mean the setup for Warped is pretty big but idk if it’s as big as First Niagara. What’s the smallest venue you’ve been to a concert at?  Bars for local bands. And yes, I believe they count. Have you ever had side stage seats?  No but I’ve been at a couple standing room shows where I got pretty damn close. Which venue have you been to the most concerts at?  Darien Lake. Do you post a lot about a concert you’ve attended on social media or very little?  Maybe a few posts each, unless it’s like a huge deal for me to have been there, then I’ll go nuts. Has a concert or tour you were planning on going to got cancelled?  Nope.
Have you seen a band in concert before a member left the band / they broke up?  Many. The best was Every Avenue on their last tour. Favorite song you’ve heard live?  It’s always Name. It’s not even my favorite GGD song but to hear it live is so much different. I get like legit emotional. Have you ever seen an artist/band play an album in full? No. I would have killed to see the Black Parade tour. Which artist would you refuse to see in concert?  Beyonce because she’s overrated as hell and probably super expensive. What’s the craziest thing a fan has done at a concert you’ve been to?  When I saw Breathe Carolina there was a dude in a gorilla costume and two other guys dressed like bananas and they crowdsurfed the whole time. It was hilarious. Which venue(s) would you love to go to for a concert?  CBGB, obviously, even though it’s gone and I have no other reason or desire to ever go to New York.  Have you ever been to a concert at a venue that no longer exists?  Mohawk Place in Buffalo closed not long after I was there for Set it Off/Every Avenue but they’re open again now. Have you ever lost something/got something stolen at a concert? I had an earring ripped out by a crowdsurfer once. Have people made fun of you or laughed because of how you were acting at a concert?  I doubt it. Everybody does crazy shit at shows. Have you ever been kicked out of a concert?  No. Has an artist thrown or spit water on you?  God yes, it’s awesome. Have you ever seen a security guard dance to a song at a concert?  Usually the most they’ll do is like stand there with their arms crossed and bob their head. Have you seen any acts you don’t like at a concert?  Not necessarily don’t like, just maybe openers that I’d never heard of but wasn’t feeling too much. Have you ever passed out or thrown up at a concert?  Definitely haven’t passed out. I almost threw up at Warped one year because it was so ridiculously hot though. Have you seen any artists in concerts that you don’t like anymore? I don’t think so. Once I like somebody I pretty much like them for life.

The EXO’rDium in Manila Day 2
After 1 year and 1 month, the kings are back in Manila!! Exo’rDium in Manila! The boys are back with 2 nights concert. Dated February 25, 2017 for the first day and February 26, 2017 for the second day. It was held at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao. And guess who's freaking excited? Phixo!! Me!! EVERYBODY!!
Last year, I was in the Lowerbox B, day 2. This year, after so much "Kakuripotan" and “Iponing”,(Thank you 13th month and freelancer.ph!) I was able to purchase the VIP Seated Ticket! Costy? Yes! A LOT! But that was just some of the things that I did for them, even I can't believe it.
And so the nights of the concert came! Sadly, as in SUPER SAD AND FRUSTRATING, Zhang Yixing/Lay won't be able to attend the concerts again. It really broke my poor fangirl heart. I thought that I'll be able to see my love this time but no. Reason, the producer said it's because of his other commitments. Just goes to show how hard working my baby is! However, my guess would be because of some 'politics'. One thing is for sure, It's not his fault! Stop blaming him guys! Let's just wait for the right time that we'll be able to witness his handsomeness in person.
Going back to the concert. I really tried my best not to spazz what's happening from day 1. I promised not to open twitter but then again, I failed. hehe I really got hyped with all those videos uploaded. Guess what, the morning of Feb 26, 2017 my mom saw me smiling right after I woke up. I did it unconsciously. hehehe
My friend whom I met at last year's concert, Raine, also came with me this time. Due to traffic and slow walking people, it's already 4:30 when I got in the venue. Raine, got there first. When we got inside, the coliseum is almost full already! And the stage is sooooo much closer than I thought!! *But my phone camera make it seem like its far. Sorry. hehehe
Tumblr media
The concert started at exactly 5:30 pm. I sooo love the opening VCR!! They crowd got soo hyped up!! The opening VCR seemed like it lasted for 10 mins. It's soo cool. I got the "W" feeling after I saw the comic book effects on the video.
And so the concert began!! Wooooohhh!! It's only the first song but I already got tired. I shouted as much as my lungs can take! It's not just me but everyone inside. I couldn't even hear their voices because of the screams!
I didn't get to take a picture of the very first part because I forgot to when I saw them. I don't know what to do first, to capture the moment or to watch the moment. The result:
Tumblr media
SAARRREEEHHHH!!
When I finally got to see them clearly, I automatically counted the members present. I know. I know. I just wish that Lay would surprise us that night. Whatever!
The first set of songs include the remix versions of MAMA, Monster and WOLF. I love the remix versions especially the monster because of Baekhyun’s solo dance! PH EXO-Ls cheered for him all through out that part! (Byun Baekhyun!!  Byun Baekhyun!! Byun Baekhyun!!)
Here are some of the shots I took from the first set of songs. I didn’t took a lot because I’m busy fangirling. hahaha
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MENT TIME!! As usual, the screams were sooooooo freaking loud!! The members introduced themselves in english. It was so fun hearing them speak in english. They were all so excited with the concert! Chen and Kai looked so hot because of their sweat. They were all so hot nowadays!!
However, Baekhyun saw some fans got injured on the standing side. He said on his ment that when another fan got injured, they'll stop the concert. NO!! They asked everyone in the standing area to take a step backwards. Thankfully, they followed them nicely and they didn't need to ask them again.
When it's Suho's time to speak,  he was working so hard to finish his ment in english and in the middle of his speech, he paused for a short time. The crowd cheered for him louder! He's so cute! He even took a bow after the screams.
Now it's the second set of songs!! The sexy songs! LOL. They were supposed to have a rain on stage but they didn't push it through, maybe because of the space. The second stage includes White Noise, Thunder, Playboy and the most anticipated Artificial Love! But the stage is still full of their sexy body waves and godly voices.
Here are some snaps!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kai needs to stop winking and doing a finger heart while he’s covered with sweat. It’s a fangirl’s death!
BUT! Here's the highlight of the second set of songs. The Artificial Love crane Dance!! Woop Woop!! I managed to take a video of Baekhyun in this dance. Here it is:
youtube
Sorry for my voice. As you can hear all I got to say is ‘Oh My god’! hihihi Don't need any explanation.
VCR TIME!
I couldn't forget this VCR! It's because the very first frame is Lay's face! He's so cute! He's so handsome! He's such a boyfriend material! I love seeing them having fun by themselves. I wish they also have a time to party like that by themselves. Just having a lot of fun together.
The sang Unfair with this cute stage set up.
Tumblr media
They are wearing all white and their skin is so white so the result from my camera:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jamming Time! Chanyeol is in charge of the guitar. That curly haired giant was so hyper playing with his guitar that Suho needs to stop him for them to start. Cute! The first song they sang is the good old Hawak Kamay by Yeng Constantino. After a few lines, Suho reminisced the time when they forst sing this song. It was 4 years ago from the DKFC concert. Just about their debut year. They promised to sing a new Filipino Song when they come back next year.
Chanyeol played the acoustic versions of their songs (My Lady, My Turn to Cry, Moonlight, Call Me Baby, Love,Love,Love and Lady Luck) and just like the whole time, PH Exo-Ls sang along with them. I don't care if I got the lyrics wrong, as long as there is melody. HAHAHA! They even let us sing some parts alone. Here are some of the snaps.
Tumblr media
They sang What If during this part (but I’m not pretty much sure).
Tumblr media
When they were singing, the background shows their serious faces. I didn't forget to take a photo of Lay with the rest of the members. I take a photo everytime he appears on screen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are some of the snaps of the next stages which includes Tender Love and Love Me Right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Vocal Line, D.O., Chen, Baekhyun and Suho were left to sing in the middle of the stage.  They sang One and Only and Stronger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chen's voice is so lovely. He's slowly climbing up on my already ruined bias list. My heart still flatters when I hear them sing live. It's surreal.
Fun Time! Haha. The VCR for their next stage is adorable. The VCR where their heads were huge. All of them are so cute that I wanted to make them into a keychain. Hahaha But D.O. role is the cutest. He's a sleepy head!
Here’s some pics of them with their cutie cutie costumes.
Tumblr media
Cutie little Baekhyun dropped his little red hat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn’t get to take too much picture with this stage because this was the time when I stared at their faces one by one. They all look like an angel. Especially Chanyeol, who all throughout this stage is so hyper! He keeps on shuffling and running around each member. I wonder how can they be so cute and handsome and hot, all at the same time.
For the next VCR, the first frame showed ChanBaek riding a motorcycle going to the stadium. While the other members are preparing for the concert. I remember a shot of Lay while sleeping, Kai while having his hair blow dried and the beagle line being beagles.
I thought that all they’ll do for the whole VCR but hey! There’s more! The VCR prepared by the Dance Line! (Kai, Sehun, Lay). I didn’t got to take a full video because I wasn’t prepared. Here’s some part from the VCR. I started capturing on Lay’s part. I remember this performance during one of the awards night last 2016.
youtube
After that, the next set of stages are the, as I call it, “Handsome Stages”. All their stages for their songs like Overdose, Transformer and Lightsaber! Here are some snaps:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I managed to take a video for the last part of their performance for Lightsaber.
youtube
Time for their ment! And this ment is the longest! The only members left were Suho, Chen, Kai and D.O. Chanyeol, Xiumin, Baekhyun and Sehun went backstage to change costumes. They were all wearing just plain black shirt in which they all look hot. (like all the time)
This time, Suho revealed that a lot of them were injured from the first day of concert. He said it was a secret but he also said that they were all healed by how much crazy(in a good way) PH fans are.
Here are some tiny bits that I remember from what they said. D.O. said that he discovered new Filipino food that he likes, ‘Lechon Manok’. He said he didn’t have a chance to taste the pork but he will the next time they come back. Suho also enumearte which places in the PH he wants to visit and it includes Boracay etc. (haha can’t remember). He also asked Kai about what places in the PH he thinks is popular and guess what Jongin said. “Yeogiyo” (This place) (this place is now the most popular).
The leader-nim noticed the fanproject a while ago and he asked for a sample banner. He asked some fans on the standing area for a copy. Like what happened last concert, he held it up and showed it to the members. He also asked us what does the alibata written means. Even though they can’t understand what we’re saying (Imagine thousand of fans explaining at the same time, how would you understand a thing?). They just concluded that it means I Love You. Which is quite right because the alibata written in it is “Iniirog Kita, Bes”.
This time, Baekhyun, Chanyeol Xiumin and Sehun were left on stage while the other went backstage. Baekhyun kept on talking about how crazy PH EXO-Ls are. He once again asked us to stomp our feet and so the whole coliseum sounded like a whole battalion running from somewhere. They were amazed about how passionate we are.
The fans chanted “PHIXO” after that. We are expecting for him to remember us from the concert last year. He named us “PHIXO” last concert after seeing some fans dance from the standing area. Again, they didn’t got to understand what we’re saying. Gladly, after several minutes of chanting, Baekhyun finally understood. “Ahh, Phixo! Philippine EXO!” Finally guys! Finally!!
Now it’s time to party!! Sehun, Xiumin and Chanyeol thought us on how we’ll respond with their next song. “Katchi Katchi Hae!” (Do It Together).
Tumblr media
Chanyeol asked us to stand up and just get crazy! You know it’s about to get really crazy! The song is not yet commercially released and it’s just exclusive for the EXO’rDium Concerts! It’s just like Drop That but with a different feels! The Rap Line nailed it! Everybody was on their feet, jumping cheering and getting crazy!
After that Chanyeol had his solo stage with his Electric Guitar skills!
Tumblr media
Soon after, the members went out to party with us! Chen, why do you have to show up wearing a muscle tee? Don’t you know how much hot you are with your biceps?! But thank you for showing it, though.
LET’S PARTY!! The fans partied with their songs like Full Moon, Drop That, Let Out The Beast, Lucky and Remix version of Run. Imagine partying with the boys! It’s really unforgettable and we didn’t even feel tired after all!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We finally got time to relax for a bit when they went off stage. It was also several minutes and we seemed to miss them already. We started chanting “E-X-O!”
It’s now the ENCORE STAGE which means the concert is about to end. NO!!! The boys came back wearing their white baseball jersey shirts! They sang Cloud 9, Growl and Lucky one!
I love seeing them goof around while playing with the toys on stage. The one that caught their attention is the moving puppy stuffed toy. Xiumin even played with it while performing. Chen placed it on the side when they were going to dance.
Tumblr media
They’re in the middle of their performance but see how Chen and Xiumin look at the little moving puppy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here you can see Baekhyun lying on stage. In which Chanyeol also did after their Tender Love stage.
Tumblr media
For these songs, they were just roaming around the stage to get close and wave to the fans. The fans threw some stuffed toys on stage and the stage became messy! Hahaha For Lucky One here’s a video a Suho getting all hyped up dancing alone! Our funny Leader everyone. And you can also see how ChanBaek danced together at the back.
youtube
Here’s how they ended their stage for Lucky one. One of my favorite pictures I’ve taken.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, time for the last MENT! NOOOOOOOO!!!!
How time flies when you’re having too much fun! All of them said their thanks to us. Suho asked us to anticipate their comeback here next year! YES! YES! YES! Kai said that their 2 day concert in the PH will be unforgettable for him and the members as well.
Baekhyun said that all of them really got crazy that night. Proof? He just sang “I Believe I can Fly” while wearing a pink butterfly wings and a cute white hat. Chanyeol played so well while wearing an Iron man Mask and he pretended to fly and run around the stage. Suho also said that when all of their fan gather in one place he can easily locate where the PH EXO-Ls are. YEP YEP YEP![Filipino fans are one of the best crowd you’ll ever see in the world! And that’s a fact, even Steve Harvey from the Ms. Universe will agree! Hahaha]
The leadernim really got curious about the banner and he maybe asked the Filipino staff backstage about it and for the last time all of the members shouted “Iniirog Kita, Bes. Manila!” We all got Bes-zoned. hahahahaha
Now it’s really their last stage. They sang Angel for the last time. The members roamed the whole stage waving to every section of the coliseum. The member who’s very diligent about waving at every fan he could is the Maknae, Sehun. I even thought that I got an eye contact with him and Kai.
All throughout the concert, we sang all of their songs, from the very first up to the last one) together with them and they even asked us some time to sing it louder! During the VCRs, we also sang their songs even if it’s just instrumental. Now, tell me how dedicated we are the whole concert! hahaha
Before saying Goodbye, they even asked for a picture together. YES!!!! I finally have a picture with them!! hahahaha (as of writing, they still haven’t uploaded the photo) Here’s how they posed for it from my perspective.
Tumblr media
Finally, here’s their last moment on stage:
youtube
Yes, it’s me screaming from the background. And again, sorry for my ugly voice. hahaha
I love how Chanyeol screamed “Mahal Ko Kayo!” so long! and As you heard, they promised to come back! Sehun stayed on stage until the screen closed.
Bye boys!! I already miss you big time!! And don’t worry, I’ll be there with you again, next year! I promise! I love you guys!!
PS. I wrote this as detailed as I could because I want it to be properly documented for my future reading, when I want to reminisce the moments I had with them.
PPS. All the photos and videos I used are all mine. The pictures are blurred and unfocused, I know, but don’t bash, my phone doesn’t have a good quality camera.
Sharing with you my edits.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!

Backstreet Boys 2017 : Larger Than Life
Oh my God, we’re back again~
So a few months back, there was that little news on my Facebook that Backstreet Boys were coming back to Singapore for one night only - and it’s their only stop in Asia in 2017!
Did I rush to get the tickets? You bet I did.
But this is to note that Singapore Sports Hub ticket system sucks - that virtual waiting room just got me so nervous. I needed to open few different browsers so I got more chances in the ticket!
Anyway, I got the ticket and I upgraded myself (and Husband, of course) to the ...2nd cheapest class available. Haha.
Oh well, at least this is not our first time. I mean, we saw them back in 2015 (has it been 2 years?!) and we pretty much knew what we were expecting.
The concert was held in NATIONAL STADIUM. OK, they only opened half of the stadium for the concert but man, I was really surprised when I saw the venue! I imagined it’s going to be big and full of a blast!
But was it?
The concert was supposed to start at 8.30 pm so we did Maghrib first at home. When we reached the venue, it was close to 8 pm. We thought we still had time for some snacks cause we were both quite hungry. Alas, we didn’t.
My friend who was already inside the stadium since 7 (!!) texted me and said that the security check took a while so I better queued early. Meh.
So we ditched our original plan and went to queue early. Poor Husband who was so hungry :(. When we reached the first security check... oh man, I started to appreciate how swift security check at Star Vista. They were fast, efficient, and most importantly, everything was done in an airconditioned room!
I digress - but the weather was really killing us outside even at night.
When we finally passed the last check, it was like 8.20 pm so we rushed to our section which was.... so far at the back LOL. Even my seats back in 2015 were SO MUCH BETTER and I paid less!
Anyway, enough of my rants. Let’s get on with the concert review.
***
At 8.30 pm, the big screen played a medley/remix of Backstreet Boys’ songs. That’s new (for me). The screen also flashed lots of clips from their music video - kinda like a mash-up.
Tumblr media
That’s how far our seats were from the stage
The medley went on for about 10 minutes before finally, the concert started with “Larger Than Life”. So apt.
The crowd went wild but I stayed calm in my seat. LOL. Age is really catching up with me now. The boys (well - men) looked all smiley and did their best to open the concert with a bang, but I noticed that everyone’s voice was too tired.
Next on the list was “The One”. Brian’s voice was a bit off and he couldn’t hit some of his notes in this song. And, as usual, the crowd cheered the loudest for Nick. Ah well, the teen heartthrob still has it.  They continued with “Get Down”. Not my favorite so I tended to skip. Kevin had a long hair and meh. Seemed like they toned down some parts of the choreography - maybe to cater to their age. After all, they are all backstreet dads now. Heh.  When the song was done, they started the first chat session. AJ has always been the heart of the party and this time it was no different. Nick followed afterwards and man the cheers could make my ears go deaf! He complained of how humid Singapore was that night and .... *drumroll* he also announced NEW ALBUM.
PLEASE OH PLEASE MAKE IT BLACK AND BLUE VER 2.0!
Next was Kevin and I just wanted to chop that long hair of his.  After that short break, “Drowning” was played. Everyone looked so mellow. And at this point of the concert, I was starting to get annoyed at how bad the sound system was and how Brian still couldn’t hit some of his high notes right. What’s up with these?
Tumblr media
The mellow mood continued with “Incomplete”. Meh. I am usually OK with Backstreet Boys’ slower songs but they didn’t sound... suitable for this open-air concert.
Luckily the next song was more upbeat. Now, this is weird but why was everyone so excited about “Quit Playing Games”? I mean, it’s a song about a man who got cheated on by his girlfriend! We were served with another intermission. Now it’s few slides which showed each member’s now and then. Wanna guess who got - like 50% more cheers than the others?
(Hint: it was not AJ nor Brian nor Kevin nor Howie) I was expecting more songs after those slides were over, but apparently... there was a bit of dance break. Yeah, forgot to mention that they brought a HELL lot of back dancers for this concert.  Not really interested in the dancers so I took that chance to rest my voice. I haven’t stopped singing while I was having a pretty bad cold and my throat was killing me.
The dance show was finally over and... “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely” was on. Oh crap.
I am always weak for this song ;_; At some point of this song, I think I got some tears in my eyes. And finally, Brian hit his high notes perfectly!
They took a lighter mood with “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”. The crowd was swaying their heads to the left and right. Awww~ I have to say though that AJ’s adlib was awesome. How come his voice was that stable - this is no joke man! Next on the setlist was “Anywhere For You” and sorry, I was just not feeling it. My least favorite song of the night.
... Or so I thought. Until next song was up and I didn’t even recognize the song?! I took my phone out and Soundhound-ed it and found out that it’s called “Darlin’”
Apparently, the stadium thought the same as me cause I swear I didn’t hear any choir from the crowd when this song was sung. Why was this song even on the list?
There was another dance show after that and I groaned - again?? Next song was “Undone” and the audience died down LOL. Maybe because this song was not nostalgic enough. But again, AJ’s voice~ <3
The men (HAH!) had another break and Brian took the crowd. “We are only halfway done!” Seriously? The concert was already on for almost an hour and according to my ticket, it’s supposed to be only for 90 minutes. No way we were getting 2 hours concert right?
Brian said that their next song was his favorite and it was...
“As Long As You Love Me”
OK WHERE WAS MY MICROPHONE.
And the best part was, THEY DID FREAKING CHAIR DANCE GUYS. Granted, it was only for mere 30 seconds but COME ON IT’S THE LEGENDARY CHAIR DANCE. PS. Anyone can guess why is it that this song is Brian’s favorite?  (Hint: His wife. You are welcome)
Well, there was another intermission after the song ended. Now it’s another medley of their songs - one of those is “Everyone”- a less popular song from their ‘Black and Blue’ album. I couldn’t help but wonder why were there so many intermissions in this concert? And almost all of them were so abrupt and so disorganized. Honestly, I was a bit annoyed and feeling like this concert was really lacking in preparation.
We were left for about 20 minutes. After the intermission was done, suddenly there was a phone ringing somewhere and I knew exactly what was the next song....
“The Call”
I sang my voice out lol. I knew I was getting myself a lot of trouble but come on, it’s THE CALL. They had a lot of back dancers for this song by the way. Concert moved on with “Get It Down” and “Get Another Boyfriend”. Followed by the last intermission from Howie.
I could feel that the concert was reaching the last spurt. And I was expecting “I Want It That Way” any moment LOL. But no. It was “More Than That” which was a welcoming breather after so many dance numbers.
Next came up “Shape Of My Heart”. I pretty much lost my voice at this stage. Playback was too strong and the inconsistencies in the sound system became more and more apparent.  Another dance show was up and for once - this was a number that I can appreciate. The dancers danced to “Straight Through My Heart” and “It’s Gotta Be You”. Man, their energy didn’t seem to slow down.
And finally, the intro to “I Want It That Way” was played. I ROSE FROM MY CHAIR OK. This is the legendary song from the epic 1999 - the only song from Backstreet Boys that I am willing to dance to. And I think the whole stadium agreed with me that night cause the choir was SO LOUD I didn’t think the group needs to sing at all lol.
When the song finally finished, everyone seemed to notice that the concert was going to end soon. Oh well. Everything good will end eventually. But of course.. there’s still an encore... “Backstreet’s Back”.
Unfortunately, I was already too tired to even sing along lol.
Once the encore was done, the group waved goodbye and went to the backstage. The crowd moved fast to the exit - age is really catching up with us. Enough of nostalgia. Time to go back home and to reality.
***
Honestly, if you asked me, I don’t really like this concert. It felt too commercialized. It’s weirdly tied to WTA finals. if you buy a package of WTA finals ticket and Backstreet Boys concert, there will be freebies or upgrade if I remember correctly. Talk about profits.
With 20,000 people buying the tickets, you would expect that they would have extra screens in the Stadium - but no, there was only ONE giant screen in the middle of the stadium. And guess who couldn’t even get a look at the group? People who sat on the side - like us. I know - beggars can’t choose, but come on, we paid for our tickets.
The sound system was blah. Often times the playback was even stronger than the boys’ singing and it was so off-putting. The back dancers were such eyesores at some points of the concert - not their fault but they made the concert felt like just another Vegas show instead of a concert for Singapore fans.
The humid weather didn’t really help either. But again, this could be solved by ... I don’t know - extra fans? The organizer should have more experiences how to troubleshoot this right?
And lastly, again perhaps it’s the age, but Backstreet Boys looked so tired. They jetted to Singapore for 30 hours straight from the other side of the globe. From what I saw in their social media, they were still in the US two days before the concert! So if that’s true, they had no rest before they appeared in Singapore.
I sounded like an angry fan - but if you compare this concert with their 2015 concert, it’s like heaven vs earth. Maybe because they were a bit younger back then? Or maybe because the 2015 one was indoor and it was more intimate with only 5,000 attendees? I don’t know.
I think, twice is enough. It has been fun to sing along with the other fans but now, let me just rewatch their old videos and soak into nostalgia at the comfort of my bed.

We’ve just returned from an epic weekend of graduation festivities as Teddy’s Notre Dame adventure has come to a close.  Four years flew by, as they are wont to do when you have kids, and it won’t be long before I’ll be writing a melancholy post about having a child leave the nest for good to start adult life very far away.
But I won’t go there today! This weekend was fun and I didn’t feel melancholy, or too stressed, or anxious, or any other way I expected to feel.  And I took lots of pictures!
We (and by “we” I mean me, John, Emily, William, and Lorelei) left Knoxville Thursday night and drove about halfway, stopping in Florence, Kentucky just outside Cincinnati.  This enabled us to get a (relatively) early start the next morning and make it to Notre Dame by around three, because Teddy had plans for John and me.
We left the “little people” (which is surely a ridiculous thing to call them at this point) with Emily, who took them out to eat at a conveniently located (actually in the parking lot of the hotel!) Asian restaurant and then to the hotel pool, and headed for campus, where one of Teddy’s favorite political science professors had invited him and other students to attend a Mass and reception.  This event was really for kids who were in a program that Teddy was not a part of, but it was lovely to start off the weekend with Mass in one of Notre Dame’s many beautiful residence hall chapels and then to meet some of his professors.
We didn’t get to stay long, though, because we had another event to attend.  This one was a party hosted by Scott Malpass, Notre Dame’s CIO, for students in a program he sponsors at the university.  These students were allowed to invite some of their friends, which was how we ended up at this utterly amazing party held downtown at Cafe Navarre.
Alcohol of all kinds flowed freely, along with canapes, caviar, a raw bar, a full buffet dinner . . . y’all, it was insane.  Many people were having a VERY good time, and I enjoyed the people-watching and the music as well as the food.
Predictably, John and I tired of this before Teddy did, so we left him there and went back to the hotel, to get some sleep before the next full day of activities.
The next morning we were all invited to brunch at someone’s lake house, but I bowed out of that and Teddy took John, Jake, and Jessica (that’s Jake’s girlfriend–they had arrived late the night before and were crashing with Teddy at the house where he lived off campus with several friends).  The rest of us drove over to campus because Lorelei and William had never seen the place and I wanted to show them a couple of things.
We started at the Grotto, then walked up to the Basilica, made sure we saw the Golden Dome, and stopped by Teddy’s residence hall, Saint Edward’s (called Steds by the boys, and the oldest one on campus).  Then we took a short walk by one of the lakes.  Notre Dame’s campus is huge, so if you are ever up that way and have limited time to spend, those are the sights I recommend you see.  Of course, I took some pictures:
Then it was back to the hotel to change clothes and meet up with the rest of our people and time for the serious stuff to begin.
First up was the Political Science Senior Recognition Ceremony.  Teddy is a Business School grad, but he double-majored in Finance and Poli Sci.  We enjoyed this relatively short and low-key ceremony, where we were encouraged to clap and walk down as close as we could get to take pictures.
From here we walked straight across the parking lot to the Joyce Center, where so many of the events that have made up our Notre Dame experiences have taken place.  We were attending the Baccalaureate Mass in the Purcell Pavilion, and we wanted to get there early enough to find a seat and avoid being placed in the overflow room.
We sat very high in the arena and had an hour to wait for Mass to begin. (There was a LOT of sitting and a LOT of waiting over this weekend, y’all!)  There was music to make it more bearable–throughout the weekend the musicians were amazing and added so much to the experience.
There’s something special about attended Mass with thousands of other people.  And, as always, we ended by singing the Alma Mater.  I’ve said this before, but anyone you’ve ever heard complaining about Notre Dame’s lack of Catholic identity can’t have ever been there.
Next we attended a much-anticipated event:  a catered dinner in the vacant lot across from the row of house where Teddy and 15 of his friends spent their Senior year.  This event was planned by one of the mothers and many other families pitched in to help with the arrangements.  I’ve met some of the mothers before, and it was great to get to see them again.
All the family joined us for this celebration, as well as my friend Mary Jo, who was in town visiting family.  It was certainly a highlight of the weekend to catch up with her, and she came back to the hotel with us when the kids grew weary and wanted to leave (we left John and Jake and Jessica there with Teddy and they continued to have a great time!).
The threat of bad weather hung over the entire weekend, and it was raining pretty hard when we left the party (thankfully we had sprung for tents!).  The administration decided to delay the start time of the commencement ceremony the next morning, for which we were very grateful!
Because of tight security, we needed to arrive around 8 a.m. and wait in a VERY long line (it moved pretty quickly, though).  There were many items we were not allowed to bring inside, including umbrellas–but rain ponchos were provided! (It sprinkled at one point for maybe five minutes.)  Once inside and seated we had a long wait ahead but it wasn’t so bad as there was music and several screens with pictures of the graduates lining up outside the stadium.
As is customary, the ceremony began with the academic procession, which took awhile as there were 2,081 graduates plus the faculty who had to get to their seats.  Here is a picture showing the Business School candidates starting to come in.
The ceremony followed the usual predictable format for such events.  If you’ve ever been to one you don’t need a description.  I came expecting to be bored, to be honest.  But I was wrong–very wrong–and this turned out to be a highlight of the weekend for all of us.
It started with the introduction of Vice-President Pence, who was the Commencement speaker.  Around 100 kids stood up and quietly left the stadium as part of a previously planned protest.  This wasn’t a surprise to many people, including the administration, who had already indicated there would be no repercussions for those who chose to participate, but it was a surprise to me!
Before you ask, no, Teddy did not walk out.  And while I don’t have any issue with peaceful protests, I have a feeling Mr. Pence (who graciously took no notice of the protest and gave a largely unobjectionable, if unremarkable, speech) was more impacted by the other two speeches we heard than by the walkout.
The valedictory address was amazing.  What kind of bravery must it take for a 22-year-old to stand on the same stage with the man who may well be President one day and say, “Our generation must stand against the scapegoating of Muslims. Our concern for freedom of religion must mean freedom for all religions, not just our own, otherwise none of us is free. . . . If we are going to build walls between American students and international students, then I am skewered on the fence . . . Our mission calls us to act on behalf of justice. It is precisely in response to the suffering of Syrian refugees, fleeing war, that the arms of Jesus outstretched on God Quad call for a courageous response.”
And then there were the words of Laetare medal winner Father Greg Boyle (who is a Jesuit so I already had a soft spot in my heart for him): “You go from here to dismantle the barriers that exclude.  And there’s only one way to do that: and that is to go where the joy is, which is at the margins, for if you stand at the margins, that’s the only way they’ll get erased, and you stand with the poor, and the powerless and the voiceless. You stand with those whose dignity has been denied, and you stand with those whose burdens are more than they can bear, and you will go from here and have this exquisite privilege once in a while to be able to stand with the easily despised and the readily left out, with the demonized so that the demonizing will stop, and with the disposable, so the day will come when we stop throwing people away.”
We all felt blessed to have had the opportunity to hear such wisdom, and that’s what I am still thinking about days later.
One unfortunate consequence of the rain delay is that there was no time for lunch before the next and thankfully last event:  the Mendoza College of Business Diploma Ceremony, otherwise known as the ceremony that wouldn’t end.
Y’all, this is the one where they call out the names.  I don’t know how many names there were but it was a lot.  We were there for an hour waiting for it to begin on extremely uncomfortable bleachers, and then I think it was at least 2.5 hours before Teddy’s name was called and there were about an hour’s worth left to go.
I felt rude but I couldn’t stand it.  I took Lorelei and William out and went to the student center and got them snacks and drinks.  Then I went back inside to watch Teddy walk out and then thank God in Heaven it was over and time to take pictures!
Teddy (and I) would have appreciated a more scenic background but we were pressed for time and there were members of our party for whom walking long distances is an issue.  Jake was like, “Here’s a nice tree.  Stand in front of it,” and we got the whole thing done in maybe five minutes.
And now, AT LAST, it was dinner time!
Y’all have heard of Studebakers, right?  My Uncle Charlie had one MANY years ago, as I recall.  Well, they were once manufactured in South Bend, and the guy who founded the company lived in this 40 room mansion.
Only now it’s a restaurant–Tippecanoe Place–and I hope y’all will indulge me because I just couldn’t stop taking pictures:
I didn’t get any interior pictures except for the group shot below because it just seemed kind of awkward but it was as beautiful as you might imagine–grand staircases, marble fireplaces, fancy woodwork everywhere.  And the food largely lived up to the surroundings, as did the service.  It was the perfect special spot to end our celebration.
Teddy (who I should tell you goes by Theo everywhere other than with family and old friends) graduated summa cum laude.  He received the Raymond P. Kent award for outstanding work in Finance courses.  He’s had a job lined up for months and will be heading to San Francisco in July to start work as an investment banking analyst.  As this chapter closes, a new adventure is just beginning for him.
