Nebula AU
Maybe I'll write a fic for this, maybe i won't, but here are the basics. Also if this inspires you to write something chuck me a tag cause I wanna see it.
Set during older/later high school rather than freshman year for Danny. However the portal accident still happened at the canon time.
Ghosts are more or less invisible with out tools or certain contamination levels. This also applies to general noise they make, they have to focus extra to be heard by humans. Typically yelling only equates to a whisper when right next to someone if you're a ghost.
As Danny doesn't become a hero immediately and gets to settle into himself first, his ghost form reflects more his track towards being an astronaut. Aesthetic more along the lines of solar flares and start dust. When ghost do actually come through the portal with intent to do harm he gets a helmet and thick gloves and has a sort of jacket layer over top. I imagine that his ghost form suffers from something like what's described in this post, and the helmet and glove and jacket are learned extra thing.
Story stuff. So it turns out when the ONLY ghost to wander through the portal other than little glowing blobs that only hover, is the antithesis of your theories you have to go back to the drawing board. So the Fenton's (kept out of the loop for a couple of months) and GIW are very much good guys and BETTER Scientists. And the militaristic mind set is swiftly put down when all of the subjects (the one) book it at the slightest hint of aggression.
Now Valarie, nicknamed Red Huntress during her internship, interns/volunteers with the GIW as a field watch/interviewer for Nebula. Which is the code name given to a Danny who never introduces himself and as such gets named by vote like a new firetruck by the community.
Hey BTW this is a portal Danny AU in my head.
The basement portal? That is a direct route to his lair, which is an astronomer's dream wrapped in a, you guessed it, nebula. The Wastes (or the area the Fenton Portal spawns in in canon) inhabitants spend a good few months flipping out at the arrival of what looks like a god or something. It's a decidedly "do not fuck with that" thought process.
Danny eventual.y introduces himself and makes friends without the protect the town from day one aspect. They all tussle a bit but the other ghosts go "hey it's a baby" and give him a proper lay of the land.
Cut to 21/2 years later after the Portal Accident, and Vlad decides to be a bastard and go after the adopted mascot.
Now the scientists have all learned that fighting= play/bonding. So they are all wildly caught off guard by the very sudden warpath through the city park.
Vlad doesn't put together Halfa Danny in this AU until well after there's been conflict. And after he managed to expose the active portal to ghosts outside of the immediate area of the portal that are perfectly willing to break into Danny's lair and some have figured out the horror aspect described here: FIC I RECOMMEND
So back to that fight. Ghosts are QUIET, especially Danny who even with the tech, radio/coms that make other ghost audible, has to be boosted to be heard by even other ghosts. (I imagine lots of sign language in this au) So this darling little sky watching ghost screams, a terrified child's noise, as this ghost that looks like a Vampire and a hoard of vultures(?) actively assault the poor thing? God the humans, the humans are scared. Everyone could hear that out side of the coms, and everyone saw it. They got good at televising the ghosts.
Sam and Tucker, decidedly only civilians are terrified for their friend. They know what play fighting looks like, they've been to the lair. Valarie who catches on fast thanks to being the intern bestie to Nebula and maybe future girlfriend to Daniel "Hot space nerd in row 4 of homeroom" Fenton, is forced as fights, proper devastating ones, continue happening to keep her friends away. Especially the first time. Most importantly that first fight.
REMEMBER Danny's portal, not the one in the basement. Well he stretches, upper body desperately crawling away from his lower half trapped by the vultures, keening all the way. Still scarily audible. Then from the gap made of flaring stardust and molten plasma that is the active void that consumes the area his stomach would have been was he human- Comes a raging adult ghost. More than one possibly.
I especially like the idea of Skulker and his missle launcher showing up, being the third ever recorded humanoid ghost, and absolutely steamrolling Plasimus who is not a Halfa as in halfway point like Danny is so loved by the Waste ghosts for being. But rather just half a ghost, a human with a funky little boon.
Now as Skulker has the time of his afterlife chasing Vlad and the Vultures, lets have say Lunch Lady slip out of Danny's portal, maybe one of the more teenagery ghosts too.
Anyways, instant fussing. Danny relaxes enough to stop being a portal to hell and the humans are very careful in approaching them all. What with the older ghost's yelling at the aggressors to leave the baby alone. Skulker is dramatic, and likes embarrassing the whelp.
After this point things beginning to resemble canon more, only the humans have a natural non-guessing gauge of hostility for the ghosts in town.
They figure out pretty fast that the physical portal and Nebula portal only let through friendlies. (Not entirely true but they don't know that.) And the threats, well lets just say Nebula is never caught off guard in his own territory again. He becomes ruthless.
Meanwhile, Danny Fenton has friends both dead and alive helping him fight a guerrilla war against madmen. He sits in class undisturbed even as he tracks the startbursts he knows are his friends protecting him and everyone else untill he's free. He huddles in the attic crawlspace filling out data sheets and pin boards as his girlfriend and best friends scour government documents.
Nebula sits in the portal, toxic light cascading like water around him, watching his parents and GIW agents work in the FentonWorks lab.
He always gives good greetings to those who offer, and when asked he whispers secrets of the universe he's learned from the source over the radio.
The scientists for get to ask for his sources, but when they do they are always both awed and terrified of the sources.
Things go well. And things as always progress.
Link to Doodle I did that actually drove me writing all this.

mind if I give a dp×dc prompt?
Constantine means to summon the ghost king but instead summons the ghost prince who is currently has a fork hanging out of his mouth.
Damian just wanted to eat lunch with his adoptive father king phantom, in peace.
I just want to put that I love this prompt, and will enjoy writing this so much!
Now, onto the big question: How did Damian become the Ghost Prince of the Infinite Realms in the first place?
And of course, the answer is obviously because of Ra's al Ghul. I could think of it as two ways.
One would be Ra's summoned the Ghost King and offered his son in exchange for immortality. Danny not only denies him, but still takes Damian with him because he's obviously better off anywhere but there.
The other way would be Damian would be forced to watch the summoning as Ra's possibly wanted to show him his ascent into being immortal. Though, when summoning Danny, he just looked around, saw Damian, grabbed him, and disappeared back through the summoning circle while flipping off Ra's al Ghul.
Now, what's the Ghost King supposed to do with the human kid he just kidnapped without a second thought?
Sure, the kids previous living conditions probably wasn't the best. I mean, how would it when the man had an entire pit of rotten ectoplasm? But Danny was pretty much still a kid himself. And he had his kingly duties on top of that. But that doesn't mean he was just going to dump the kid somewhere else and hope for the best.
So what does Danny do? He goes to his sister.
Jazz is conflicted about the whole ordeal. On one hand, it was good for Danny to rescue the child from the possible dangerous situation. On the other, they had a whole child that they didn't know what to do with.
Damian was confused about the entire situation. He was there with his grandfather (whether by force or his own accord depending how he got there) to watch him summon the King of the Dead in order to establish himself as one of the higher beings in this world to rule it. Instead, the King, who turned out to be no more older than him, denied his grandfather upright before grabbing him and vanishing back into the same portal he was summoned from.
Now, he was sitting between the Ghost King and an older teen. Sister, maybe? Either way, he was unsure as to what to do now. He had no idea how far he was away from the hideout of the League. And if the King was as powerful as legends told, he doubted he would make it far if he were to run anywhere before he was caught.
So, Damian believed that the best thing to do in this situation was to try and get onto the Ghost King's good side until he could find what would be the next step. So his next words shocked both him and the woman he was talking with.
"I want to stay with you, Great King of the Dead."
So! Damian decided that staying with the Ghost King, or Phantom, as he preferred to be called at most, would be best. Of course, his request threw the king off guard along with the girl. But it was all he had up his sleeve and he was going to use it.
And now that that was settled, a lot of things followed suite:
Danny, with the gain of a new charge, called in Sam and Tucker for a full on meeting on what to do with the kid along with Jazz.
Of course with Danny officially kidnapping him, he was under Danny's care. The Ghost King's care. That was basically signing some sort of second death wish.
With all of his friends and family being alive, they decide the best place for him to leave was in his castle in the Ghost Zone. There was plenty of room there! And he was sure that it would be safe. Maybe. Hopefully. You know what? He'll probably have to do a quick check before he officially brought to the castle.
That being said, he would also have to warn those who stayed in the castle the arrival of his....guest? Kidnappee? Ward? A kid that he took from the environment that was not safe for him!
Surprisingly, the ghosts were excited about the development. So excited, in fact, that when he returned to the castle with Damian in turn, there was already talk about the Ghost King's heir was already going around of all the realms. That was fine though. If the word spread around fast enough, hopefully that that meant he would be easily protected against any possible attacks.
Danny introduces to some of those he can. A few members of his Rogue Gallery who he gotten closer to over the time, Ellie ("It's big sister Ellie, now! I can't believe you just kidnapped a kid like that!")
Others were introduced to him as well. Especially Frost Bite and Fright Knight. Both of which were interested in meeting his sudden charge. (But with the way he saw the kid eyeing Fright Knight's sword, it's best their unsupervised interactions were kept to a minimum.)
And seeing that he was a kid himself, it was going to be weird raising one that's probably not much younger than him. Clockwork sure did get a kick out of it though.
Here is a list of possible outcomes that come from Danny and his friends & family raising Damian:
He doesn't grow up to be as stiff and cold as before. With Danny and the others around (especially Jazz's "Aunt Jazz, Damian," Aunt Jazz's mandatory sessions about his life with the League of Assassin's) his formality is more royalty like instead of an assassin waiting to strike. Though, there is a bit still there.
Training. As being accepted as the ward and possible heir of the Ghost King, it meant that that Damian would have protection and would have to learn the ways of the Infinite Realms. Both its politics and ways of combat. That was fine, Damian was sure he could handle it. He was raised by the League of Assassins after all. But he was wrong...so wrong. His first training session showed how he fared as a human against a ghost. But he wasn't deterred and continued fighting. (It was alright in the end, because he got his own ghost sword. Of course, it didn't send the opponent into a realm of neverending nightmares, but it was still good. Danny was sure he heard Damian cackle madly when the sword was presented to him.)
Bonding time with Danny and his friends. He would most likely learn about Danny about how he became Phantom and King of the Infinite Realms, as well as a bit of his friends and family that was with him the entire time.
Even if he is Danny's ward, that doesn't mean that he keeps him in the Infinite Realms the entire time. He often took Damian out to various spots that he deemed alright for some bonding between the two to get to know each other a bit more personally.
He would even allow Damian some time alone in the human realm if he wanted it. Of course, he would only leave him for about an hour or two before picking him up again. During that time he would simply work on some kingly duties he couldn't do with Damian around.
Overtime, Damian would become more liminal than most due to all the exposure in the realms. Of course he wasn't a full on ghost, but the most he could do was float, fly and even turn invisible. But even that would take a lot out of him for too long.
After a while, Damian would be referred as "Little Prince" or "Prince of the Infinite Realms".
All. The. Animals. With all of the ecto-based animals along with the blob ghosts, he would be in absolute heaven.
Now, I want to bring something else up to this prompt: How would Bruce react?
Depending on how Danny kidnapped adopted Damian, there are two ways that Bruce could find out.
Bruce gains word from Talia after a League of Assassins member finds her and tells her of the passing of Ra's al Ghul and the kidnapping of his grandson. Both of which happened by the hands of the Ghost King.
Words gets out that Ra's failed to get the Ghost King under his control to grant his wish of immortality and that the Ghost King took his grandson as well.
Either way would be how Bruce managed to have a biological son that he was unaware of. Which could also lead to him digging into anything he could find about the King of the Infinite Realms, even seeking JL Dark for any information. Of course, their information isn't up to date and he think that Damian has been kidnapped by the cruel Ghost King Pariah Dark instead of Danny Phantom: The King who can't say no to a kid with a sword bigger than his own body.
So yes. This whole ordeal would just be chaos from beginning to end.

What if danny was jokers son
So when joker was turning he had an infant son, a cute little boy he named danny.
But he knew it wouldnt last, his son had his DNA and would eventually become similar to him, he can already tell, he laughs at things he shouldnt and is more observing than he should be.
Joker, in his twisted way, still loves his son, and while he could tell danny will be similar to him he wont BE him, he'll be...more human than him.
So his final act to save danny from this life, he sent danny to his colleague friends to look after.
After the joker full took over, his twisted love for his son still remained, much to his conflicting enotions, and he decided to stay as far as he could.
Danny on the other hand grew up different he didnt exactly LIKE pain, so to say, but their was always something satisfying and delightful when someone got what they had coming to them.
When a bullie mysteriously fell down the stairs he couldnt hold in his laughter. The kind of karma they deserved.
He still loved though, in an innocent way.
Loved when his mom made inventions with him, or taught him her black belt moves.
Loved when he and his dad try and make fudge together but their shared clumsiness resulted in far more mess that it should.
Loved when jazz read her books to him. Loved when tucker would act all protective about his PDA and when sam dragged them all to a new protest.
That didnt stop him though, from blasting overgrowth to bits for hurting sam. From secretly hunting and threatening johnny after he messed with jazz, or from making a dash and paulinas day worse with his powers.
And it certainly didn't stop his uncontrolled laughing to ring through the ghost zone when he beat pharia dark black and green.
.
.
.
And when a certain bat came by for a visit in arkam, after the jason incident and talking about his robins and saying that he wouldnt understand the love he has for him. For his son's.
What drove batman on a new case was the quiet and serious way joker said the he did understand.
Batman had a new case to solve. To see if someone as heartless as the joker dose, in fact, have a child.

I'm so annoyed. @kingcrow01 tumblr ate your ask about Danny's opinion on the League. tumblr i pressed 'save draft' why didn't you sAVE DRAFT.
ANyways I'm making a post instead. For everyone else, the ask was in summary:
What was Danny's opinion on the League now that he's left it? If he missed the familiarity of it, if he recognized the cult-like behavior inside it, and if he now detested his grandfather.
And to answer (again, grrr): It's complicated! We love complicated <3. Yeah, Danny does miss the familiarity of the League, it was still his home for the first ten years of his life and he has a lot of memories there. Plenty of good along with the bad, and while he's less homesick than he was when he was 10, it still hits him like a truck at random intervals.
Sam, Tucker, and Jazz are great, and he likes the Drs. Fentons enough that he's contemplated murdering Vlad for his meddling, but if he wants to eat the same food his mother used to make him and Damian, he has to do it himself and he can't get the taste right. No one knows arabic so he speaks it to himself because he doesn't want to forget his mother tongue, and he has a few books too. Frankly? He genuinely misses training.
Getting to use Sam's gym helps with his restlessness, same with training with Maddie, but he has no one on or above his level to go against other than his mother. And he only sees her twice a year at most. He knows that he's getting stagnant and he fucking despises it like a bad itch he can't scratch.
He feels conflicted about missing the League, however, since by now he recognizes the flaws and what was wrong with it, and he recognizes that it was cult-like. But even that is kinda, hrm, complicated? If this was a fic I would be able to go better into depth about what he has and hasn't unlearned because cult deprogramming is hard and Danny's doing most of this on his own.
Sam, Tucker, and Jazz have helped with the more obvious stuff: like the ecofascism, the disregard for human life, his emotional constipation; the more obvious stuff that shows in his behavior and personality. But none of them are professionals nor do they actually know the full extent of what Danny's life in the League was like. They only have snapshots since Danyal is very tight lipped about it. So they can only help with what they see themselves through Danny's behavior or word of mouth.
But in summary: He sees, for the most part, what's wrong with the League and disagrees with some of the stuff they do now. But he's very conflicted, and trying to dissect his feelings on the League confuses him. His protests about it whenever Sam and Tucker joke about it have at this point become mostly empty (altho it still causes him some discomfort), and its an inside joke between them three.
As for Ra's? Despises him. If only because Ra's wanted him to kill his little brother -- thinking about his motives with the League confuses Danny, cognitive dissonance and stuff, -- a lot of his hatred stems from "He wanted me to fight my baby brother to the death. I destroyed my relationship with Damian because of him, I had to fake my death and leave my home, and I will never meet my father or see my brother again because of him. Fuck that guy."

i hate the idea that being with the doctor made clara “lose her humanity”. she may have become more or less desensitized to death but she was still the kindhearted woman the doctor met in series 7. she always put others before herself, the only difference is the stakes got higher in series 8/9. the doctor didn’t “corrupt” her, he just made her believe she was invincible.
she convinces the doctor to “save the day” in every one of her series since she stopped him from destroying gallifrey in day of the doctor.
in series 8, she makes the doctor realize that earth is his home and it’s his duty to help protect it when it’s in danger. in series 9, clara stops the doctor from destroying the universe just to bring her back.
clara was never a selfish character. even when she lies to danny, she says it’s for *his* own good and i think she truly believes that - she just doesn’t realize she’s lying to herself too. much of series 8 is clara denying herself what she truly wants due to expectations she puts upon herself.
part of this is because she knows what to expect from a routine life, routine job, and a normal boyfriend but she doesn’t know what to expect when she’s with the doctor. it’s enticing like an addiction as clara puts it.
unlike other companions, clara is wholly aware of the risks of being with the doctor. she won’t let herself drop everything on a moments notice to fly off with him because she knows there’s a chance she won’t make it home for dinner. she tells him that they will only travel together on wednesdays. she doesn’t stand for the doctor putting her in danger without her knowledge. she doesn’t stand for the doctor treating her as if she’s second fiddle to him.
unlike other companions, clara knows that being with doctor can’t last forever.
one of clara’s greatest lines is, “nobody’s ever safe…tomorrow’s promised to no one doctor but i insist upon my past. i am entitled to it. it’s mine.”
and much of series 7/8 is clara putting distance between her and the doctor to keep herself safe - not just physically but emotionally too. falling in love with the doctor has the ability to wreck her. considering her reaction to eleven’s regeneration, it’s no wonder she put even more of distance between them in series 8.
she’s trying to move on and she gets herself a boyfriend. of course, twelve makes this difficult even though he’s doing his best to do the same thing she is. if they don’t put a label on what they feel for each other, they can just as easily pretend it isn’t there. clara can pretend that she isn’t hurting danny when she lies to him about where she’s been. the doctor can act like seeing clara with a new boyfriend doesn’t hurt him deeply.
the central conflict between clara and the doctor in series 8 is miscommunication not corruption. clara wants to believe that the doctor makes her worse just as the doctor does because that’s easier than admitting that they make each other better. it’s easier to think they were better off when inevitably one of them gets left behind.
their dynamic is interesting because of the role reversal.
for once, the doctor is the one forced to deny his feelings. the doctor has to wait (until wednesday) to see clara. the doctor forgets that this thing between them can’t last. the doctor is the one risking the universe for the person they love.

If Danny Phantom came out today, what themes and topics do you think the show would tackle?
I think it would be quite a lot like The Ghost and Molly Mcgee and the direction A Glitch in Time is trying to take.
In character i think Danny would be pretty similar, but there would be a lot more emphasis in how he doesn't know to which world he belongs- to the human, ghost or both. There would be more exploration about how he doesn't feel like he fits in, if already had trouble with being unpopular in school, he now feels like a complete freak being a human/ghost hybrid. In some episodes he sides more with humans and in other episodes he sides more with ghosts.
I think there would be themes from the original show like self acceptance, responsibility and learning to rely on others when you need help but we would get to see more of why x character acts this way and the reasons behind it.
One character i believe he would have a quite different take would be Vlad Masters. He would have a lot more development and we would get flashbacks of his relationship with Jack and Maddie before and after the accident. Think of something like King Andrias from Amphibia except with more screentime. Another thing that would be different is his relationship with Danny. I think he would have episodes he has to work together with him and Danny gets to know him better. He would have moments he shows to care about Danny and protects/saves him. He would be less..extreme in some way but he would still be terrible.
I know i like to talk about Danny and Vlad's relationship a lot, but, honestly? If there was a reboot nowadays, their relationship would be one of the most interesting things in the show or one of the main things that drives it.
The series could explore things like dying a leaving things behind with more freedom. Ghosts that didn't take the opportunity to do x thing when they were alive and/ or find themselves stuck in the past. Maybe Danny starts hating ghosts at the start of the show and over time starts to see there are good and bad ghosts, a lot more balanced than is in the original series.
If Dan were to become canon in the series, i think Danny would have a sort of corruption arc that bit by bit you see him taking a darker path and closing off from people that care about him. It would be something gradual until it gets revealed that Dan is what he could become in the future.
That itself is a lot more interesting than just having Dan show up in one episode and barely being used again after that. It adds potential for character conflict and development.
Characters like Sam and Tucker would have their own episodes that develop and change. Maybe we would get to see more of their families and what goals they have outside of helping Danny. They are fun characters but in the series they usually struggle be to be their own people.
Jack and Maddie would be... better handling things than they do in the series. I believe they would pay more attention to Danny coming back late and getting injured. They wouldn't be leave lying ghosthunter machinery around. It's possible the narrative would be a lot more critical of them hating ghosts and talking about dissecting ghosts in front of their kids. Hell, it wouldn't be out of place if Danny had an arc he started to live with someone else until his parents realize their mistakes and Danny feels comfortable enough to go back to them. Here is another thing for interesting potential relationships conflict.
As for final antagonist, it could either be Dan or The Guys in White. However, i would prefer that Vlad stayed as main antagonist for a good part of the show until someone else could take that role.

Another exceedingly stupid DPxDC story idea/prompt (#5)
It occurs to me that... SURELY something fun and entertaining can be done by having the Danny Phantom characters interacting with Lord Death Man, right? RIGHT!??? He's Lord Death Man for crying out loud! So here's what I've got.
Lord Death Man has decided to change his villainous ways and is now trying to be a hero! And so in his quest to become a hero, he decides to become the nemesis of another undead villain just like him! A villain that up to this point, no one seems to tussle with and has gone unrivaled in his attempts at terrorizing mankind! Yes! Lord Death Man shall become the nemesis to none other than the Wisconson Ghost himself- Vlad Plasmius! (Most of the conflicts between Vlad and Danny happen in more private or secluded areas where the public wouldn't see that they're actually enemies, or the Ghost Zone. The few times they have been seen interacting in a place where people could see, they could just as easily be working together instead of fighting against one another, so there's no reason for the public at large to think that Vlad and Danny are nemeses. If anyone would be publicly perceived as Vlad's nemesis, it would probably be Jack and Maddie... And Lord Death Man cannot let such helpless, defenseless mortals such as them burden themselves with the task of taking down this cruel and evil wayward soul!!!)
And so Lord Death Man starts making himself a nussience to Vlad. Lord Death Man challenges Vlad to a fight, but Lord Death Man actually doesn't have any equipment that is able to harm ghosts, so each time, Vlad just pummels him into the ground using little to no effort. But Lord Death Man just KEEPS popping up and will NOT just go away! Vlad's attempts to get rid of Lord Death Man get more and more violent and then more and more contrived, but sure enough, Lord Death Man keeps on returning with more determination than ever to defeat this ghostly gentleman! Vlad vaporizes his face off? He comes back. Vlad lights him on fire and stomps on the ashes? He comes back! Vlad throws him into the Ghost Zone where he is immediately set upon by the entire ghost community? He comes back, just as fine as ever! Vlad launched him into the vacuum of SPACE!??? Somehow he's back and ready to annoy and slightly inconvienence Vlad by the end of the week!
Little does he know that Lord Death Man's one and pretty much only superhuman ability... Is that he is unable to be killed no matter what you do to him! You can try to do whatever you'd like, but he will ALWAYS SOMEHOW come back!
After a while, Vlad gets tired of this and stops trying to get rid of Lord Death Man and just accepts that he has to deal with this unkillable weirdo following him around all the time. It isn't long after this that Lord Death Man, or- as his friends call him- Larry learns that Vlad is only half ghost. The MOMENT that Lord Death Man aka Larry discovers that Vlad is somewhat redeemable, he INSISTS that Vlad should start trying out yoga and different breathing techniques for the sake of his mental and human bodily health!

I thought up that Saiki/Billy/Danny poll on a lol but honestly I keep thinking about it. They're all so interesting as comparisons to each other.
Billy, aka captain marvel: young orphan boy with a heart of gold and a strong sense of justice getting into trouble for it. Sweet darling angel with huge authority issues and Will Fight And Lie over it. Wants to be a hero more than anything else but didn't really get a choice in becoming one. Destiny is strong with this one. Uses his newfound powers to save others and help everyone around him, preferring to talk his enemies down or outwit them but very good with violence. Keenly aware of how easy it would be to turn evil (with Adam) and refuses to ever follow that path. Would be in huge trouble if the government ever got him and he knows it.
Saiki: seemingly apathetic teenager with a heart of gold getting into trouble for it. Sarcastic and pithy, he prefers solitude and privacy but keeps getting semi willingly roped into doing 'friendship' stuff with his 'buddies' (who he'd die for). Easily bribed. Acts polite and obedient to fly under the radar but does not even slightly respect authority given his circumstances with his normal family and the numerous kidnapping and experimentation attempts from governments (and his older brother) since he was very young. Was born with his ever growing powers and every attempt to reduce or remove them has failed with the exception of his limiters, he doesn't want them but didn't really get a choice. Very avoidant or passive of conflict, preferring to save his rare world saving heroics for when he can't be discovered, he doesn't have a hero persona. But he's also very capable of great violence on massive scales when necessary. An unreliable narrator with a slight god complex despite his desperation for a normal human life. Conscious of how easy it would be to turn evil and determined to never follow that path. Would be in massive trouble if the government ever caught him and he's keenly aware.
Danny: sassy and punny teenager with a heart of gold getting into trouble for it. The fluke accident turning him part ghost also released the ghosts onto the town, and he feels it's his responsibility to stop them, before either side gets hurt or worse. A typical teenager with annoying teachers and parents who want to rip him molecule from molecule has left him with very little respect for authority (but it's better than the other two - just). Didn't really want to be a hero with powers but didn't really have a choice. Will sass people into making bad decisions (that usually ends with him upside down in a wall) and generally ready to throw down the second he senses a ghost (or a vlad). His encounters have left him with an iron clad set of morals and he's keenly aware of how easy it would be for him to turn evil, despite how much he refuses to become his worst nightmare. If the government ever got their hands on him he'd be deeply screwed and he knows it.
I'd honestly love to see the three teenage power houses meet, even if just to gripe and find understanding XD. They'd be such an interesting dynamic.
Saiki: *sipping a drink as the other two crash and wheel wildly overhead in a landscape destroying spar, mercilessly critiquing them both like he could do any better*
Billy: *desperately trying to stop his new friends from conning a conman in revenge for getting conned so easily themselves despite his warnings*
Danny: *deeply morbid humour about the fragility of life as he blasts music to the beat of the video game he's crushing the other two at until saiki blows up the TV*
Honestly these three would bring out the blackest humour in each other, it'd be so bad.
Billy would be the extrovert golden boy face of the group despite being just as ready to play dirty as them, Danny the one dragging them everywhere and daring them to do stupid things, and saiki the guy in the back acting above it all like he's not the easiest to provoke into dumb stuff. MENACES, the lot of them.
But I kind of like how their wildly abnormal childhoods and lives would find so many points of understanding with the others. They'd all benefit hugely from having others their age like them.

We need more Danny Phantom style Blue Exorcist fics. I don’t want to hear about how cute and “cinnamon roll” Rin and Ryuji are, I don’t want romance fluff, I want horror, I want internal conflict. I want to hear about how Rin starts to believe that he is less than human because that’s what everyone else, including his own brother feel. I want to hear how it affected him to become something he’s been told was evil since early childhood.
I want the good shit.

---
Damian let the door shut quietly behind him, flipping the lock before he took a seat on the edge of the bathtub. Outside the bathroom, he could hear Jasmine and Danny playfully arguing about something mundane, their voices somewhat pleasant in terms of background noise. Jason had left not long ago, having said something about having some business that needed to be taken care of while he waited for their order to be filled.
He had sat in the living room, Danny's bag resting beside him, when something had caught his eye. Only now, alone in the bathroom, did he dare to take the pilfered object out of his pocket. a soft golden light engulfed his hands the minute he pulled it out, casting his face in a yellow glow when he brought it closer to examine.
The cure, a potion that cancels other potion effects on a person. In any other situation, he would find such a thing remarkable. Even now, he couldn't help but wonder if it would work on other magic-based effects, slightly in awe of how versatile it could potentially be. But that awe was tempered by the knowledge of what this jar was for in the first place.
He stared hard at the golden liquid, observing the way it swished and swirled in the jar, trails of what looked like a cross between glitter and stardust tracing hypnotic patterns in the thick solution. 'I could drink this right now,' the thought came unbidden, his fingers digging into the ridges on the lid slightly. Part of him wanted to. Wanted to twist the cap off and drain the contents. Wanted to prove, once and for all, that his feelings weren't just because of the potion.
Another part of him wanted to drop the jar like it had burned him. To throw the jar and watch the potion splatter uselessly onto the wall. Or swirl down the drain of the sink, any possible traces of it washed away by water, like it never existed. It couldn't have the chance to prove him wrong if it was gone, after all.
Damian did neither of those, instead sitting the jar down gently on the counter. Sighing, he allowed himself to drop his facade of calm and collectiveness. His shoudler's drooped with tiredness, his head dropping into his hands as he tried to sort out his feelings. Coming from an emotionally dysfunctional family didn't help him much when it came to feelings, but he tried his best not to fall back on his training.
He knew fear, it was a garantee to feel it at least once in a human life. But for a child assassin? Fear is something one becomes intimately familiar with. Maybe not his fear, but the fear of others. So he had little trouble identifying the fear that pushed forth the more... destructive ideas.
The determination and confidence that directly contradicted that fear were as much of a hindrance as they were helpful. Wilfulness is something that Damian had always displayed, even when he was loyal to his mother and Grandfather in the League.
Mother had always said that it was a trait from his father, a will of steel that kept his resolve for justice strong. Having lived with his father for a few years now, that wasn't hard to believe at all.
And now, in the midst of his conflicted feelings, he couldn't help but to fall back on that belief once again. It was different from suppressing his emotions, to instead focus all his being into the way he wished for things to turn out. If his will was half as strong as his father's, then Damian would have nothing to worry about. A little bit of fear wouldn't change thst.
Taking a deep breath, he raised his head from his hands and stood. The teen had no idea how long he had been sitting there on the edge of the tub, his legs tingling with the pins and needles feeling that always accompanied a loss of blood circulation. The apartment outside the bathroom had fallen quiet, only the chatter of the TV and the occasional shuffling of movement telling Damian that the siblings were still out there.
Picking the jar back up, Damian let his gaze trace the swirling golden patterns once more. He could drink it now, and be done with it. He could throw it and damn the consequences his actions would surely bring. But now was not the time for rash decisions. The most logical thing to do was to wait, and not force results. So for now, he would find a way to slip the jar back into it's poor hiding spot in Danny's bag, burried under the prizes from their arcade date, and enjoy the time he was given to spend with Danny. Because no matter if the potion worked or not, Danny would have to return home.
A knock on the bathroom door startled Damian from his thoughts, the teen fumbling with the jar as it slid from his hands. Heart pounding, his quick reflexes helped him re-capture the jar before it could smash on the tiled floor.
Breathing heavily, Damian stuffed the jar back into pocket and twisted the lock, throwing the door open. On the other side was Todd, his fist raised to knock again. The man blinked at him, lowering his fist to rest on his hip in a way that Brown would refer to as 'sassy'.
"There you are. You doin' okay, Demon brat? Danny said you'd been in there a while." Jason gave him a quick lookover, not moving from the doorway as he searched for possible hidden injuries.
Damian scoffed. "I am perfectly fine, Todd " He sniffed hauntingly as he shoved past the man, heading towards the living room.
"Alright, alright!" Todd tossed his hands up in the air in an exasperated manner following him down the hall. "Just making sure. It would suck if you died on me and left your boyfriend here all alone." Despite the teasing tone, Damian could detect the slight bit of serious concern radiating from him.
Before he could come up with a response that would calm his most volatile brother, Damian found himself in the living room. Danny turned around at the sound of their approach, a smile stretching his face and showing off a flash of those enticing fangs. "Robin!" He chirped excitedly. "Come sit down! Jason brought food back. I already put a vegetarian plate together for you."
Sure enough, as soon as Damian had settled onto the couch, Danny was shoving a plate of mouth watering food into his hands. The teen gave the plate an expiramental sniff before taking a bite, pleasantly surprised by the flavorful mouthful.
The teen couldn't help the small smile that quirked up his lips as he watched Danny dig into his own plate, his a mixture of both vegetarian and meat-ladened sides, though mostly vegetarian, with gusto. 'Yes,' he thought, taking another bite of his food, 'it was a good decision to hold off.'
The jar doesn't make to it's bag that night. Damian told himself that it was because Danny was too observant, that he would notice right away that something was out of place, no matter how meticulous Damian was with putting everything back. In reality, he ignored the fact that it was his own reluctance that kept the jar stashed in his pocket.
----
Back at the manor, Cass and Stephanie had begun phase one of 'Distract Dick, no matter the Cost'. Personally, Steph really liked the plan's name, but Cass insisted that it was a placeholder for the true name, still pending.
Steph crouched in the shadows, sight of her blocked by the wall she leaned against. The batcave itself was empty for the moment, Cass and Alfred having managed to spike Tim's decaf with melatonin and lead the boy up to one of the family rooms for a nap. But she knew her target would be here any minute
Sure enough, after ten minutes, Dick came Striding out of the locker room, nightwing suit snug across his chest as he made his way towards the corner she was hiding behind.
Taking a deep breath, Steph pulled her bowl away from her chest as she stood. Faking a jog, she waited until Dick began to round the corner before she struck. Purposely running into him, she let the bowl tip towards the man and slid from her fingers, dousing the blue and black of his suit in the most eye catching shade of pink she could whip up.
She let out a convincing shriek of surprise, forcing her feet to slide instead of catching herself. Landing on her butt, the girl was treated to the most amazing sight, a dumbfounded look on a bright pink Nightwing.
"Oh, god! Dick!" She stuttered in her hasty movements to get back up, selling the whole 'horrified Surprise' act even further. "I'm so, so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going, and I was just gonna dye my hair in the sinks down here, 'cause Alfred threatened to make me scrub the upstairs sinks if I stained any of them bright pink, and- and- oh, I'm sorry!"
Her rambling apology seemed to snap him out of his stunned state, the man looking himself over for the fist time. "Hey, Steph, it's okay!" He grimaced when he saw the color, but tried to put on a calming smile as he reassured her. "It was an accident. We can just wash it out, m'kay?"
Steph almost couldn't believe how easy this was going. "Yes!" She exclaimed, tugging the man back towards the locker room. "Go and change out of it, and I'll get it clean in no time!" She didn't give the man much of a chance to protest, shoving him into the locker room and shutting the door behind him.
A few minutes later, and he had returned. Donning a t-shirt and jeans, he held out the costume for her to take. "I'll swing by later to pick it up, but for now I have to go and talk to some people." giving himself a once over, he nodded to her one last time before he made his way to the elevator.
She waited a few minutes, making sure that he was actually gone, before she took the elevator as well. Stepping out from behind the broken grandfather clock, she made sure the coast was clear before hurrying up the stairs and to one of the unused guest bathrooms.
Closing the door behind her, Stephanie turned and faced the silent girl that was already waiting for her. "Got it!" She smirks deviously, holding up the pink monstrosity that she had created. "How about you? Did you get the goods?"
Cass grinned back at her as she grabbed something from behind her. Turning back around, she proudly held up two complete nightwing suits for Steph to see.
"Nice!" Steph couldn't help but to laugh, already imagining the look on his face when he found all of his spares missing. "And you locked the storage room too?" Cass nodded her affirmation, miming a key locking before giving a thumbs up. "Perfect! Now that step one is done, I think we can safely move on to step two!"
Carefully, both girls peeked into the hallway, looking back and fourth for any wandering souls before declaring the coast clear. Moving with quiet efficiency that only a bat could accomplish, the pair made their way to a laundry room on the second floor. Honestly, Steph had no idea it was even here before, and would have just used the one down stairs, if not for Cass. Apparently, this laundry room was so seldom used that it was one of the places she went to when the hustle and bustle of the manor became too much.
Once the girls had reached their destination, Steph waisted no time in throwing the nightwing costume in the washer, purposely going against the washing instructions for their suits. Cold water instead of warm, a healthy dose of bleach, and about half a cup of the detergent that Alfred had told her was for their lounge wear only, instead of the one m0ade specifically for the kevlar- laddened fabric. Confident that the suit was probably done for now, she left her handiwork to finish on it's own. They still hand one last thing to do.
Turning to her partner in crime, Steph let her mischievous grin turn slightly more sinister. "Okay, now. Where can we hide Nightwing suits where they won't be found?" She asked, tucking the two spare costumes under her arm as she let Cass take the lead.
Walking confidently, the two wandered the mayor's maze of corridors, taking so many turns that Steph was sure her head would spin trying to remember them all. It's times like this that the girl is reminded how easy it would be to get lost in this place. How anyone could live gere without maps on the walls telling them where they are, Steph will never know.
After a few minutes of walking, they finally came to a stop in front of a closet. It looked like every other hallway closet they had passed, oak door with a shiny copper handle waiting to be opened and used as storage. There was nothing special about it, besides the fact that islt resided in a part of thr manor that usually went unvisited by anyone besides Alfred. And Cass, Steph supposes, because why else would she lead Steph halfway across the house when there were several perfectly usable closets on the way here?
She opened her mouth to ask the question on her mind, but Cass beat her to the punch. Pulling open the door, the raven haired girl crouched down and began to feel along the floor of the closet for something. Steph stepped closer, watching curiously as her fingers found purchas in a groove between the floorboards. With one swift move, she pulled upwards, the floor lifting with a low creak to reveal a small cavity hidden beneath.
Stephanie gasped in surprised delight, dropping to her knees beside Cass to examine the little hole. It was about three feet long, and two feet wide, forming a cute little cubby that ran only half a foot deep. The small space was empty, save for a few dust bunnies and a lone mothball rolled into the corner. It was perfect.
"Awesome find!" She praised her friend as she dropped the spare costumes in, letting Cass gently lower the panel back into place. Step two complete.
Standing back up, the girls dusted off their hands and knees before turning to head back to the laundry room. Their timing was amazing, as the washer cut off just as they passed the threshold.
Opening the washer, Steph was greeted by a bleach-splotched nightwing costume. None of the pink from the hair dye mixture surviced the wash, sadly, but it did an amazing job, turning the blue bird on the chest purple. Paired with the gray and tan-ish splotches decorating the shoulders and back, Steph was confident that it would be tossed into the storage room to gather dust with Discowing once this was all over.
Tossing the ruined costume into the dryer, Steph hopped up onto the slowly warming surface, kicking her legs happily. "How mad do you think Dick is gonna be when he finds out that this wasn't an accident?" She asked concersationally.
Cass brought her hand up to her chin, rubbing it contemplatively as she mulled over the question. Shrugging, she signed 'Probably not too mad. Not when he finds out it was for Damian's love life.'
Steph snickered, nodding. "Yeah, Dick is a huge softy. He'll probably forget all about this as soon as Damian tells him why. He always qets excited about these little milestones little Dami hits." She giggles again, the image of Dick fake swooning in front of Damian too funny for her.
Cass giggled quietly too, silently thinking about how Dick might get them back for this. While he would get distracted by Damian's love quest, he was not one to forgive and forget such actions. Sooner or later, the man would get his revenge on them, probably in an extremely embarrassing manner.
Cass couldn't wait.

Things to watch out for in Poke AU:
This AU is based on the timeline game play not anime. There's no Ash in this AU sorry guys
AU settings in Unova!
I decided that the pokemon owned here (unless they are from outside Unova or gifted/thrown away by their trainers sad i know) in AU are only pokemon in Unova's national pokedex (BW2)
no Danny can't go on Pokemon adventures officially yet because the protagonist Unova is technically the oldest of all the protagonists in all main timeline games (15-16 years old!) So Danny officially becomes a trainer when he's 15/16 years old :')
AU's main plot:
Very simple 11 12 with series but with pokemon! :]
Plot Hisui:
Let's just say Clockwork wanted Danny to take a vacation from his daily life as a super hero, so here Danny Hisui… Disguised as Danko joined the Galaxy Expedition Team, explored Hisui, researched Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark and met people and new pokemon!
Danny learned a lot about making pokeballs and other equipment. He was taught by Volo and Cyllene very often praised him & She also liked the performance as a member who was very active. He studied more closely about Zoroark & Zorua's abilities so that They could avoid conflicts between humans and Pokemon. in a few moments Danny & Volo were nicknamed "crime boy" by people because sometimes they made lot trouble, on how many occasions Danny found that Volo & Cyllene had a fight and stupidly thought they were kissing, for Danny Volo was a 'big brother' figure because of his nature who is confident and smart sometimes reminds him of Jazz sometimes but Volo is more of an asshole than Jazz and Volo gave him the Zoroark Mask on week 3 at Hisui as a reward for his promotion in Galaxy Expedition Team.
When Danny was going back to his timeline, he said goodbye to everyone and… Should he leave the pokemon he caught here? Clockwork says that he can keep and bring them to his timeline! What a relief! Danny comes back and he realizes he was only gone for 3 days… But he actually spent 3 months at hisui and realized he lost his Zoroark mask! Damn- he can't go back to Clockwork just to take that trivial thing… At the same time Volo who wants to return Danny's zoroark mask only finds snowy land with Danny's footprints.
Meeting Volo's (again):
Danny was exploring the ghost zone to make a map, he didn't invite Sam or Tucker because they were busy so well he was alone exploring the Ghost Zone until suddenly his ship's engine broke down and dropped him to the bottom of the Ghost Zone… When he realized Danny found himself in a place that had very different aura from Ghost zone… The place is full of mirrors and just then Danny is greeted by Giratina who seems quite impressed about Danny species, then Giratina and Danny actively talk a lot they have a lot in common! And Giratina took him somewhere and Danny saw someone familiar… Volo.
Danny & Volo were surprised to see each other… And at the end, after the preamble, Volo told him that he had wanted to destroy the world with Giratina but failed and he was cursed to spend his eternal cursed life, he angry with consuming hatred and obsession with Arcues to survive in the deepest part of the ghost zone… The distorted world, he only interacts with his Pokemon who are also eternally cursed and also Giratina… Sometimes Volo misses a lot of people from his past mass but he realizes he will never meet them again because they are most likely dead sometimes he laments the mask he made for Danny to relieve his boredom… Then he returns Danny's mask to Danny… "I thought I would never return this to you Danko but I'm lucky to be able to return it to you! I will never forget my pather in crime hahahaha!"
In short: Volo Danny escapes from the world of distortion → Volo applies for a job at Fenton Work → Volo becomes the best employee and gets Maddie & Jack's sympathy → VOLO IS ADOPT BY THE FENTON!!!
I forgot to mention that Volo grew Fenton Works business very fast and became the best employee ever!
What next for Poke AU?:
I want add Shauntal in this AU… She a Ghost type elite four… and a writer… fits this au perfectly— & you can ask more if you sent me ask to my ask box pls 👉👈
Oh yeah... Give me your pokemon x dp fanfic i want read it.

‘tis me again, the anon from the JL time-travelers/Booster Gold prompt. This kept cooking in my brain even after I posted it last time, so here goes (I’m so sorry if this goes long and or ramble-y) —
So I was trying to think of different timeline variants of the TUE event there could be to trip up the JL, by having them act on base-different facts. Bc let’s face it, if Danny had failed to beat Dan? Instant worse outcome then what was already going to happen, bc Dan is a full adult with ten years of escalating violence under his belt in an unsuspecting, unready world, and without a Red Huntress that power-scaled with him to counterbalance. This is all getting compounded by the fact that, due to Dan literally destroying everything, no complete set of un-redacted records exist in any timeline, and what they can scavenge needs more context than they have.
So how a time-traveler from that even-worse-verse would react to Phantom first-contact would be vastly different to how someone would from the main timeline, where Danny succeeded and there was no catastrophe. Conflict is that they don’t know who’s timeline they’re in and what they should do. Added to all that, TUE takes place after Reign Storm and Danny defeats Pariah. Huh that might be why the Observants were looking into his destiny specifically. A guerrilla ghost war between Dan the Ghost King and the Observants with the Earth caught in the middle sounds like a Bad Time™️. Like, bad enough of a time that the JL time-traveler from that world full-stop wants to go with the Kill-Baby-Hitler route on Phantom, even. This can be amplified by how much or how little humanity has recovered from Dan at that point.
I still don’t know who all has time travelled in the JL, or if it’s just Bart and Booster. But then it occurred to me. It’s not just the heroes that time travel. From meme-education, I know that Reverse Flash’s whole schtick is that he’s time traveling specifically to ruin Barry Allen’s life. Which of these TUE divergent timelines is he from? How does that effect his approach to Phantom? Does he try and corrupt Danny, young and impressionable, to the dark side with the mentorship he lacks? Do other villains hear about a boy who becomes the next Big Bad, but has an open window of malleability? Do they decide to get rid of Phantom, deciding a danger to the world is a danger to themselves and their plans?
Do heroes and villains, starting with the time travelers, break rank and cross the aisle based on how they think Phantom should be handled? Who is Switzerland in this? Are the Observants not satisfied and mobilizing against Danny again? JL:D I imagine are in crisis-mitigation mode after the first time someone said ‘High King of the Infinite Realms’ in the same breath as ‘within ten years’ and can no longer be reached. Going a step further, is Danny or Amity at all aware of any of this or is it business as usual? Or, is something/someone preventing the chaos from reaching them after first contact?
TL;DR, time travelers from different TUE timelines accidentally spark a DC (civil?) war after first contact with Phantom, either wanting to pull him to the side of good or evil, kill him or spare him. Once janitor, attempted glory-hound, reluctant time-cop Booster Gold gets shepherd-hooked by Clockwork, Master of Time, to fix it.

a thought I’ve been having since i started reading and writing DP x DC material:
The concept of “AU Curses”
It is known that each genre has a certain set of tropes (some of them clichés from how overused they are). Still, they have something defining of them. Music, scenarios, character archetypes, etc. The same can be said for fanfics. Specifically, for each genere, sub-genre, sub-sub-genre, etc. they have.
AUs have their own tropes because they align more closely to traditional genres. However, it’s when AUs take place in the universe of a different fandom or when crossovers occur that it gets interesting. The tropes/classical formula for each respective universe influences the other, creating something unique that then transforms into its own set of tropes (if created with sufficient frequency across the fandom).
The Danny Phantom x DC crossovers have become their very own sub-fandom, so large that some people might even consider it separate from the original fandom. It does have its own unique set of tropes, heavily influenced by DC’s classical formula, which tends to lean a lot into the darker, grittier aspects of heroic actions, human nature, and the self.
This doesn’t mean that the DP formula has had no say. No, completely on the contrary. DP formula overtakes the story when it comes to the story’s Main Conflict and some of DC’s mysteries (canon or writer-stated). It also takes charge when it comes to a few of the slightly nonsensical (endearing) scenarios the original DP formula is known for.
This all being said, one big trope common in this newly formed DP x DC formula, is that the story (naturally) always begins either with an introduction of a Bat family member into Danny’s life or vice versa. The city of Gotham is often times a catalyst for both of these things.
Across most DP x DC crossover fics, the following outline (the formula) is commonly read. When Danny encounters the first sign of a catalyst (Gotham or the JL or an alien ghost, etc), it is usually at the start of a new period in his life. A fresh start, a rescue, a safe haven, or a new relationship. Each of this immediately lead into being involved (as a civilian or his alias) with a Bat family member (also as a civilian or their alias). More often than not, this then leads to a series of misfortunes in Danny’s life or nosy investigations into his private life, which also causes its own set of issues. Depending on the catalyst, these misfortunes can be downright disastrous or a mere annoyance.
One can interpret this in two ways. It can be an AU Curse specific to the DP x DC crossovers. As soon as that catalyst pops up, Danny becomes automatically destined to meet the Batfam and his life begins to drastically change, for better or worse.
Or it can be considered a DC curse, where the moment a new variable is introduced, more new, crazier things begin to follow it and the situation becomes progressively worse or more convoluted (or both) for all the characters present in the plot. This DC curse would be an aspect of its respective universe that almost completely overtook most plot tropes within the DP x DC fandom, in small or grander ways.
It’s interesting to see how the fandom has developed all of this on a near subconscious level, simply because writers took their favorite and the most liked aspects of either universe, and used it to shape their stories. To begin it, all a writer has to do is introduce the catalyst. Everything else will follow.
Interestingly enough, the AU Curse can also be seen from an outside, reader perspective in the sense that fans of the original source (Not the crossover material/formula itself) will sometimes be subjected to it. This happens when the crossover material begins edging into or gaining popularity over the original source, so its fans begin seeing less of the material they enjoy and more of the crossover one. They see a catalyst (crossover fanart, a fellow fan who starts getting into it, or a writer who starts creating content for it), and suddenly the original source is overtaken by all the newly formed characteristics of the crossover material.
I might be interpreting some things wrong, or not have the full scope of the dubbed “DC Curse” I outlined. So if anyone wants to share their own views or correct anything, you’re more than welcome to!

Shattered Identity.
Chapter six: Leave a bitch alone for TWO minutes...
Chapter one. Chapter two. Chapter three. Chapter four. Chapter five.
By the time Danny and his friends had finally left the Masters estate, it was too late in the day for Vlad to go out and run those errands he was planning on doing. ...Well, he could try, but he knew that by the time he walked to the closest place he needed to be at, they'd be closed and considering that he didn't have a driver's license for his current self, he didn't want to risk driving and getting stopped by police.
So that just left him here, alone with his thoughts in this mansion that felt even bigger and emptier than usual-
No.
He knew it was more than just feelings, the mansion was emptier because he was too used to their company and it was bigger because he IS smaller, was he even nineteen or did he just think that he was because that's how old he was when he died? They kept mistaking him for younger ages and while he was neglected and abused in that hellish hospital, he was never starved to the point where he was THIS grotesquely thin, even at his worst back there...
Not to mention, Tucker's question was still on his mind. For all he knew his brain was being eaten alive by his own sickness. God, he was so stupid for not even once considering that his FLESH EATING DISEASE LOCATED ONLY ON HIS HEAD would begin to EAT THE FLESH INSIDE HIS SKULL.
"Jack? Are you okay?"
All this time, all the schemes that seemed insane in hindsight, all the self-sabotage, all these confusing and conflicting thoughts, and they could all be explained by his own disease ruining his life as it did always did, and he was too much of a fool to even notice it. He may have the brief euphoria of finally putting a name and face to something that's been plaguing him since the first day he became a half-ghost, but it was snuffed out by the notion of how serious of a problem it was.
"...What are you talking about..?"
And he can't forget Frostbite's words either; 'If he was even the slightest bit weaker, he could’ve been completely destroyed by that thing!', 'this was a crack, normally something that would’ve been followed by completely shattering', 'he seems to have resorted to a form of self-sacrifice. I have never seen a fire core this dull in color before and I fear what it means for both him...', 'I’m not aware of what he’s sacrificing to mend himself and to be honest, I’m not sure if he knows what he’s giving up either. There’s almost endless possibilities to what will reform from it: He could come out as a feral ghostly beast with no humanity at all, a fully human being who could never become a ghost again, a clueless fool, ... a child, an old man, something weak, … The only certainty here is that the sacrifices he makes won’t be easily undone, if at all.'
"Huh..? What are you- How do you know who Frostbite is? Did Danny have to take you to him..?"
While to Danny, this was a warning to keep an open mind but still stay cautious, to him, it was a warning that his own body was unstable, unpredictable, a mess filled with problems and a body that is ready and willing to betray him at any given moment and that he will be STUCK this way for until something finds his pathetic weakened state and delivers the last blow.
"Wait a minute... ...You... you're..! AURGH! Never mind, we'll talk about that later, just look at me and tell me what's wrong! ...Can you at least tell me if your hands and face are supposed to be leaking ectoplasm? I... I don't think your human form should be doing that..!"
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
"Jack?! Vlad?! What's wrong with you?! Are you melting?! Speak to me!"
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
"I don't know how to help if you won't tell me!"
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
"I'm going to call Danny and Jazz! They'll know what to do!"
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
Something is wrong with him-
"...Vlad..?"
Something is wrong-
"Vlad!"
...
.....
...
He peeled himself off the floor, his ears were ringing too loud for him to notice that he was still gasping for air as he looked around, trying to ground himself in his surroundings.
It was just how he left it: a mess. It wasn't 'aftermath of a college party' levels of bad, but it was still pretty bad, especially for his standards; empty pizza boxes, empty soda cans, liquid ectoplasm staring at him with twitching disembodied eyes, staring at him judgmentally, someone threw up on the floor...
Whelp, no time like the present to clean up the messes at the Estate, can't hold a funeral for his 'dead billionaire dad' in a filthy mansion after all.
He picked up empty pizza boxes and stacked them on a table while making his plans.
While he's at it, he might as well sort out what he should keep for himself and what he should use to bribe other ghosts to come to the funeral.
He got a garbage bag and threw the empty soda cans into it, rolling his eyes when he saw that one of the cheese pizzas had been smashed and stomped into his nice carpet. Judging by the boot print in the pizza as well as Sam's antagonistic behavior towards him, it was likely her doing.
He shook his head as his thoughts were starting to steer towards petty revenge, she's not his biggest problem, he shouldn't occupy any part of his possibly deteriorating brain with that brat when he had much more pressing matters he should do, like feed the cats, make sure there wasn't ghost gunk oozing around the mansion, record a message from Vladimir- er, his older self revealing that he's the Wisconsin Ghost for the funeral, for that he'd need to make a hologram of his former form, luckily since he has made them before, making another couldn't be too hard, he already has all the stuff...
And he should probably take a nice, long bath after he's done with all of that.
Yeah, that sounds... nice...
He left the room to grab a mop while Danielle... wasn't sure what to make of the scene she just saw from the foyer.
"You said he was ranting about Frostbite before he kept saying that something was wrong with him and he passed out, right?" Jazz's voice reminded her that she was still on the phone. "Do you remember what he said?"
"Yeah, I think he was repeating things that he overheard Frostbite say about him, but only the negative things... I think."
"As in insults or..?"
"No, at least, I don't think he meant them as insults.... They seemed more like warnings and he took them the wrong way. Like how his core is a weird color for his type and it's not a good sign?"
"Okay..."
"Oh, and I should probably tell you that he just got up and is now cleaning the mansion like nothing happened."
"That's... good? I guess. I mean, it's better than him just staying face down unconscious in ectoplasm and his own vomit."
"Yeah, but... Are you really sure he's Vlad? I mean, sure, I know what I saw, you told me about the core incident and he knows things the real Vlad probably would know, but he just seems so... different from both the put-together father I thought I knew and the cut-throat megalomaniac he actually was. And even when he thinks he's alone he referred to Vlad as a different person, he even called himself 'Vladimir' before correcting himself."
"Well, he's also physically a teenager so it's not too far of a stretch to assume that he's mentally a teenager too. According to mom and dad, he was a pretty cynical, nihilistic guy when he was naturally a teen, so those traits mixed with what seems to be either inflicted anxiety, some form of PTSD that came from the traumatic event of almost getting destroyed or both anxiety and PTSD seems to have resulted in... ...Him becoming that."
"That makes sense..."
Dani nodded in thought while watching the older teen inspect his mopping handiwork, wipe the sweat of his brow, mildly recoil when he saw the somewhat-dried vomit on his hand, and yell the words 'CREME BRULEE' as loudly as he could as if cursing to the heavens and then took out a handkerchief to wipe off his face and hands before leaving, most likely to the closest bathroom.
She snorted in mild amusement at that, Vlad Masters or Jack Masters, some things just never change it seems.
"Although him referring to himself as a different person while alone is interesting..." Jazz mused, more thinking out loud than actually considering studying his mental state. "It's a shame we can't accurately compare and contrast his current mental state to what his mental state was like before the accident. Who knows, maybe he had a 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' complex and considers his human half and ghost half to be separate yet intertwined entities."
"Maybe I could ask him?"
"...Considering how he reacted the last time someone asked him something about himself that he hasn't thought about on his own, I think it might be in his best interest to give him time to stabilize himself first..." Jazz cringed over the phone line.
"Oh... Oh right..." Dani winced in turn. "...Do you think Danny and 'Jack' will get mad if they find out I know...?"
"I don't know Dani..." she sighed. "But it sounds like they already have a deadline for themselves for when they want to tell you so it might just be best to keep pretending you don't know and just play it by ear."
"Okay, thanks Jazz."
"Anytime Dani."
The two hung up their perspective phones and Dani thought back to the list of chores he was talking about to see if she could knock some of them off or at least lessen the burdens.
She didn't know a lot of ghosts who loved the Packers to the point Vlad did and she knew that Vlad would probably want to keep all of the Packers' stuff, especially the signed football. But she didn't know what else was keepable or tossable. So she could... half-do that chore? Or considering that she might accidentally tip off that she knew Vlad was Jack if she did it by herself, she and him could do it together.
She could definitely feed the cats, she had done it before and knew what they both liked. (She also knew they preferred earlier feeding times than later feeding times).
Vlad already handled the pizza party and the rest of the mansion was already clean except for the office which she destroyed. ...Good thing she knows where the wood glue is stored...
Given his current state of stress-induced-paranoia, he'd probably just check the mansion for ectoplasm again even after she reassured him that she already checked it.
That left the hologram and Vlad's death speech.
Well, maybe she could take a crack at programming...

Long, oily, black knots of hair floated in the soapy water. A new one added to the collection with every cut the scissors made.
It was a bad idea to do this with his eyes closed, especially given that his ears were longer and easier to cut by accident in his ghost form but he couldn't bear to look. He hated doing this the first time and it hurt even more doing it the second time, but he knew it was the only way to get the matted tangles out for good.
The small pile of destroyed hair brushes right outside the tub was proof enough that trying to save his hair from this fate was a pointless endeavor.
Snip!
"💧︎■︎♓︎♍︎🙵♏︎❒︎♎︎□︎□︎♎︎●︎♏︎⬧︎!" [Snickerdoodles!] he 'cursed' as he accidentally cut into his own ear.
He put the scissors down on the tub's edge and got out of it to assess the damage and bandage up the new injury.
Vlad wasn't any more used to his new reflection in general and was hesitant to see what he had done to himself, regardless of the fact he knew he needed to do it...
The teenage ghost in the mirror had holes in his face and arms that had something that glowed in the cavities, ectoplasm that hadn't oozed out of the wounds yet. To his surprise, he still had long, black hair as opposed to a short choppy mess he was expecting to see himself with, it just didn't have the gross mats in it anymore.
He wanted to be grateful, and he was, but it felt too suspicious, too good to be true...
Dumbfounded, he looked back at the bathtub, the chopped off mats and tangled knots were still there, floating in the water or clinging to the sides, confirming that he did indeed cut them out. He ran his fingers through his hair, confirming that what the mirror was showing him was true and that he did in fact still have his long hair. He wasn't sure if he was imagining it or not but the bath water looked pinker than it should've been.
As he saw the flecks of blood on the scissors he remembered *why* he got out of the tub in the first place and looked back at the mirror to check the ear that was cut.
He only now realized that it didn't hurt at all when he saw that the only sign the injury was ever there in the first place was a faint, magenta scar.
"...🕈︎♒︎♋︎⧫︎ ♓︎⬧︎ ⧫︎♒︎♓︎⬧︎..?" [...What is this..?] he muttered to himself as he held up a lock he sworn should've been chopped off to the by the mirror, letting out a soft gasp when he saw the magenta sheen it gave off when reflecting the light of the lights. He held up another lock, one that he knew for a fact he didn't cut to the same lighting position, this one didn't give off the same sheen that the first one gave off.
He could've sworn he never regenerated *that* fast before, nor was he capable of regenerating his hair...
...But this was a good thing, right? He wasn't flooding the house with dangerous living ectoplasm, he was just healing himself. Although he had to wonder why the holes in his hands and face didn't heal up either-
He shook the developing concerning thoughts out of his head and dried himself off, got dressed, re-bandaged himself, and drained the tub, collecting the mats and throwing them in the bathroom's trash can so he wouldn't have to deal with the clog they'd inevitably cause later.
Just ignoring that the hairballs had eyes while he was throwing them out...

Okay, let's wrap up this damn comic live blog/media-analysis-I've-put-WAY-more-time-than-I-ever-intended-or-wanted-to-and-yet-I'm-Boo-Boo-the-freakin'-fool.
So.
Acceptance has been a reoccurring desire with Danny's character. Naturally, it started off insignificant and shallow as is wont of a fourteen-year-old who went about and did stupid, desperate things to be noticed by the popular crowd, further heightened by his "loser" status (for a variety of reasons the show doesn't say, but could be narrowed down to: weird ghost-obsessed parents, hanging around two other social outcast, etc.)
Being half-ghost added another pile of teenage angst to the list, and more so when Walker intentionally made him Amity Park's most hated ghost out of petty spite for ruining his law and order (he's a goddamn cop, what'd ya expect?) Frustrated as he was, Danny decided to resume his heroic duties in spite of people's perception of him. The city still needed someone to keep an eye on the ghostly nuisances plaguing Amity Park and persecuted or not, Danny Phantom was the only (consistently competent) one for the job.
And this mindset did carry throughout the show, all the way up to Season Three's "Forever Phantom" which marked a very lovely turning point when Danny refused to bask in the spotlight that has since been afforded to him. Constantly saving Amity Park eventually earned him the love and respect from most of the citizens; he was their hero, a mascot, a tourist attraction, and beloved public figure. And Danny never took an egotistical power trip over it. By "Forever Phantom", he has, frankly, gotten sick of everyone wanting a piece of that half-ghost pie, and opt to chill out in secrecy in his downtime. After all, his human half has become invaluable as the only time he can truly relax and not worry about some stranger taking photos of him or asking for his autograph.
Look, it's not that Danny can't have moments of dejection, but no matter how much paint coating "Phantom Planet" did - with Danny taking away his powers in order to protect his loved ones, as the plot claims - a lot of the framing also seem to imply he did it because oh nooo the Masters Blasters (a name that an out-of-touch-with-the-youth Vlad would coin to his little group) took away the spotlight and now no one appreciates and luvs him anymore.
It's such a 180 from what's built up and laid out before us. Suddenly Danny can't go without any form of appreciation even though he's long since accepted that he won't always get it and was perfectly fine with it. Saving and protecting his home was what mattered.
I was off in my original guess at the start of the comic for whatever internal conflict Danny had yet to hash out. I thought he was feeling the pressure of being a hero in a world where everyone knew who he was. How was he going to adjust to it? Obviously, the problem was that he lacked purpose and that's totally fine. What ended up happening was, again, the best solution the comic gave to a HUGE problem I had with "Phantom Planet" (surprise surprise): his secret identity goes kaput.
It made sense to expose his ghostly half to his parents by the end. All the way back in "Bitter Reunions", Danny claimed Jack and Maddie would love him no matter what he was, a prediction that proved to be true in "Reality Trip." And loved they did. And in "Phantom Planet" and beyond, they still do. This is their son, after all, and no amount of ectoplasmic coating will ever stop them from accepting him, ghost and all.
It didn't make sense to reveal his identity to the whole damn world because it counters severely with what Danny had accepted prior to all this. He didn't want attention or fame or any of that shit, they're just byproducts to his true actions as a genuinely heroic guy. He'd save the world even if everyone hated him permanently, and he has! And according to this comic, he will continue to do so.
Clockwork fixed the time stream and gave Danny a choice and the one he picks leaves his secret identity safe once again, altering it so he never revealed himself to the world. And with that redo button, the comic drove the final nail in the coffin on any prominent thing "PP" did. And I'm so damn grateful. I don't even care that it was an easy fix ala time shenanigans, it wouldn't be the first time Clockwork did it.
While it sucks Amity Park has declared Danny Phantom (and all ghosts) as public enemy #1 again as consequences to the fucked up timeline Clockwork did his best to fix (as oppose to him being a beloved figure, which I think he's more than earned), it ultimately authenticates Danny's development: he doesn't care if the greater population hates him, what he cares is protecting his home and healing those in need of it.
My only grievance with this mild retcon is that Jack and Maddie is no longer privy to Danny's secret identity and that one leaves me exhausted. I was hoping the comic would throw us a bone after "Reality Trip" burnt that bridge when Danny erased his parents memories for no goddamn reason, but now it's back to square one with these stubborn, but lovable chuckleheads. There weren't a lot of interactions between Danny and his parents post-identity revealed, and the chance to explore it seems, for the time, temporarily paused... again.
Should this comic ever get a sequel series (this thing apparently sold out on Amazon, Nickelodeon would be a fool not to greenlight another), perhaps we'll get to see some of this and more, and A Glitch in Time certainly left a couple of plot points dangling for a tantalizing continuation...

Parallels between Danny Phantom A Glitch in Time and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee
While i was reading the graphic novel, Danny Phantom A Glitch In Time and the way it talked about the nature of the ghosts, i couldn’t help but think about how similar it was to themes of the series The Ghost and Molly Mcgee. For those who don’t know, The Ghost and Molly Mcgee is an animated series about a girl, Molly Mcgee, and a ghost, Scratch, who accidentally get cursed to be together and over the course of the first season they become friends and family. The series has story arcs and episodes exploring ghosts and the ghost world much like Danny Phantom does. The main difference is that The Ghost and Molly Mcgee is more slice of life, meaning the focus is on the character interactions and development.
Since i’m going to talk about A Glitch in Time’s plot and themes, this post is going to have spoilers. So, be careful if you haven’t read that novel yet and you don’t want to get spoiled. Having that in mind, let’s discuss some parallels between these shows:
1) Ghosts being driven by emotion
Tumblr media
In A glitch in Time, it is revealed that the ghosts have an ¨emotional drive¨ or that their powers come from emotions. This makes Danny and the others change the way they have seen ghosts all this time and reconsider a different approach when it comes to dealing with them instead of only fighting them. In addition to this, Danny and Vlad change in the way they see themselves as ghost-human hybrids, inspiring them to find a new purpose to drive them. In Danny’s case is helping both human and ghosts while Vlad’s purpose becomes making amends for his terrible past actions and trying be better.
This changes the way the series potrayed ghosts until now: In the original show ghosts were often potrayed as enemies that Danny should fight and were there to cause chaos. The novel introduces the idea that maybe there is a better option to deal with them that comes from understanding what makes them do certain things and looking for a way to help them.
In the series The Ghost and Molly Mcgee, while ghosts aren’t ¨driven by emotions¨ they can have unfinished business from their past human lives and become corrupted if they get consumed by a single emotion from their unfinished business.
Tumblr media
The third episode from the show (Season 1 2-A), Howlin Harriet, introduces the idea of ghost corruption by using the ghost Howlin Harriet as an example of that. In the episode the protagonists help Harriet with her unfinished business, she turns into a normal ghost and is able to move on to the Ghost World now that she doesn’t have to worry about her unfinished business.
As you can see, The Ghost and Molly Mcgee usually potrays ghosts as beings who aren’t good nor evil, it all depends on the ghost. Ghosts are often potrayed as lost souls who should be helped with dealing with their unfinished business instead of being hurt. The show also makes a good point that some ghosts are forced to scare and cause misery because, if they don’t, they will be sent to the Flow of Failed Phatoms by their authoritarian leaders, the Ghost Council and the Chairman. Ghosts don’t start chaos because it is ¨their nature¨. It’s because of the system they live in and they wouldn’t do that if they weren’t obligated too. Scratch, one of the two main protagonists, has the job of spreading misery in his town, something that is a main conflict in Season 1.
2) Helping ghosts instead of hurting them
Tumblr media
In ¨A Glitch in Time¨ Danny decides that he would like to help ghosts instead of capturing them like he used to in the series. He talks about how he is going to ¨heal the rift between worlds¨, acting as a bridge for the human and ghost world. This gives the idea of the protagonists not seeing ghosts are their enemies but more as beings that could be helped or saved from whatever issue they have, since their are entities that are driven by emotions.
...Now when Sam mentioned them being ¨ghost helpers¨, it made me smile because in The Ghost and Molly Mcgee, the characters start their own team called ¨Ghost Friends¨ whose goal is helping ghosts in need or looking to help them with their unfinished business. The characters have been helping ghosts since the start of the show but the team as a concept wasn’t introduced until Season 2 in the episode ¨The Unhaunting of Brigton Video¨. What it is funny is that in that episode they have their own theme sequence:
youtube
If you pay attention to the theme, Scratch mentions how Ollie Chen is a ¨ghosthunter¨,because yes, Ollie comes from a family of ghosthunters and he was raised to see ghosts as ¨horrible monsters¨ growing up, a bit similar to how Danny Fenton was raised to see ghosts as his enemies his series.
Now... the big difference between Danny Phantom and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee is that in The Ghost and Molly Mcgee the ghosthunters are potrayed as antagonists and their hatred for ghosts is left very clear as something that is bad since most ghosts are usually harmless or just lost and confused and need some help as shown in multiple episodes. Ollie Chen is someone who was raised to see ghosts as evil but over the course of the first half of Season 2 he changes his mind about them and later joins the ¨Ghost Friends¨ team to help ghosts instead of capturing them. Season 2 is following this story arc with the rest of the Chen familly, which has yet to finish airing since only a bit more than a half has aired. In Danny Phantom ghosthunters are potrayed as more morally gray since in the show ghosts tend to cause chaos and Danny has to fight them and send them back to the Ghost Zone. In A Glitch in Time brings up the idea that this view of hurting and capturing ghosts isn’t the best and maybe Danny should fight them only when it is necessary, like he does with Dan later in the story. If Danny Phantom gets some continuation in the future, it is possible that ghosthunters could be potrayed in a more antagonistic role and ghosts in a more sympathetic way to expand on this theme from the graphic novel.
3) Redemption
A theme that becomes very clear in the last third of ¨A Glitch in Time¨ novel is the capacity that people have for change and deserve healing, even if they are really broken and aren’t good people. This theme is executed through Vlad Masters and Dan/Phantom, two characters who went through some terrible experiences and developed very toxic coping mechanisms in different ways.
During the battle against Dan, Vlad admitted his very selfish actions and how he pushed everyone away as result of that. He decides that his new purpose is going to be making up for his past misdeeds, starting with helping and taking care of Dan/Phantom. In case of Phantom, is both a mix between letting himself be helped with his issues and regretting is actions. He accepts Vlad’s offer and he is later put inside a Danny clone to hold his spirit in the timeline.
In the series, Danny Phantom had a bit of this theme like in the episode ¨The Ultimate Enemy¨ and Valerie’s character arc. However, I would argue that the morality was a lot more black and white, specially in Season 3. In the novel, things aren’t so black and white as they seem and there is a bit of gray in between.
Tumblr media
In the series The Ghost and Molly Mcgee, redemption is a theme that is clear from the first episodes with the main character Scratch. Scratch starts as a very mean, closed off and cold ghost who pushes others away. It is explained that this comes from the system that exists in the Ghost World and how he is treated like ¨the worst of the worst¨, leaving him with no friends. It’s heavenly implied something bad happened to him in his past human life that lead him to be this way, an aspect that the series has yet to explore in detail but will soon in this season. Thanks to his friendship with Molly and his relationship with the Mcgee family, Scratch is able to open up to others and start ¨living¨ again. Overtime he becomes more considerate, generous and adopts part of Molly’s more optimistic world view. However,he still has a lot to learn and things he has to work on.
While not all characters get redeemed in The Ghost and Molly Mcgee, there is this theme that people have good in them and have the capacity to change if they want to. One of the main arcs in Season 2 is about the Mcgee family making the Chen family to change their minds about ghosts, since their hatred seems to come from not knowing well enough about ghosts and how they behave. This is applied to other episodes as well, like Lord Doom episode.
I would argue that in contrast to Danny Phantom, this theme has been prevalent in the series as a whole so far. In Danny Phantom this theme became a lot more prominent in the A Glitch in Time novel, taking a different approach that the original series did.
Conclusion
Both Danny Phantom A Glitch in Time and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee share similarities in their core themes and how they potray ghosts as entities. Both stories show ghosts as being that should be helped and usually have a reason behind their actions. The capacity for people to change and heal is another theme that is common in both works too. In my personal opinion, i think this happens to be pure coincidence since the A Glitch in Time novel was announced to be in production some time before The Ghost and Molly Mcgee premiered back in 2021. It is still interesting to see how these two shows share parallels between them and how these themes are executed in different ways.
