for anyone curious-- kryptos, esp. post dimension burning, defines his gender as Square and Shape but not really Male or Guy, like that part's whatever to him, that's not the important part of his identity to him. getting to freely call himself a Square and Shape with no pushback is exciting to him because, as his status as a square-born-to-a-square, he was consistently ignored, told he should have been something else-- namely a pentagon, very rarely an equilateral because as tragic as a descent in caste would have been, it would have been more Normal Than This-- and forced into weird arbitrary roles and rotating schools and castes in early childhood before it was finally decided that fine, he was a square, they guessed... but also barely and because he was Barely A Square by the stupid laws of configuration and because the circumstances of his birth were so Strange and his Abnormality was so Apparent, he had to go to school with equilaterals so that only the lower middle class kids were put at risk by his Weirdness, and not the other Much More Valuable Real Squares. so getting to the point where he was one of the only members of his species left and he gets to just go "yeah, i am a square, i'm the only square left, and i get to decide whatever the hell that means now" was meaningful to him, and the guy part is like. whatever. but he is a square

your tags in every ken/stewy post always make me laugh because yes- stewy definitely calls his grandma and starts going on a lengthy rant about ken and occasionally shittalking the roys. she doesn’t know what he’s on about half the time but you’re right, the main takeaway is always ‘make dua sadegh:)’ he’s still gonna call and complain though. never beaten those down bad allegations since high school im afraid.
FOR REALLLLL HSFHJHGGGH. i just know he spent half the time of his weekly phone calls to his grandmother complaining about his best friend kendall and his fucked up family and i just know that every female relative in stewy’s life is sooo doting that they’re just like awwww he has a friend mashallah🥰 so cute. even when it’s decidedly not ‘cute’ anymore for stewy to be this obsessed with his best friend. like it doesn’t even cross their mind to think stewy might be a tad not normal about kendall. five year old stewy was like . i wish me and kendall wud be best fwends forevar and when we grow up we live together and have a kitty:) and stewy’s maman is like. awww say inshallah sadegh🥰.

Window shopping on etsy and thinking, like, you know I've never come out to my family because 1. It's none of their goddamn business 2. They'd be FUCKING WEIRD about it, 3. It's not like I date anyway so it's hardly relevant, and 4. More than anything because they've been trying to forcibly out me since I was 13 goddamn years old and didn't even know what was what. This was the 90s so it's not like I had access to terms like asexual, and lesbian was still a dirty word. The whole thing was very confusing. But my mom and sister have been dropping hints and making leading comments on shit I say for decades, so frankly their disregard for my privacy makes it unlikely that I'll EVER have that conversation with them.
And the gender thing is a whole other beast, because my mom wouldn't get it, and my sister is transphobic AND weird about gender in general so like, don't feel like trying to explain my whole "almost but not quite a girl" thing to them, and again, it isn't relevant because I use she/her pronouns and don't plan on doing any kind of transitioning. So.
ANYWAY POINT IS if I really felt like trolling them I'd buy this shirt
Do kinda want this though
Whaaaat Jessica, it's a band joke, it's not like it's reaaaaally about gender, why are you being weird about it?

hey am i the only one who forced themselves not to enjoy dead poets society too much when they first saw it as a preteen because it made them weirdly uncomfortable only to realise years later that that was because they were gay and related to the characters?
i feel like that's a universal experience

the way i like almost immediately cry when i see things w parents being supportive of their gay kids it’s like…..if you aren’t gay u just don’t understand what it’s like to grow up knowing that the love you receive from your family can be conditional based on smth you can’t change abt yourself. like to look at yourself and know that youre different and to know that as much as your family says they love you now they may not feel that way as soon as they know who you really are. like that there is a possibility they will just turn that love right off if you share urself w them fully it’s just such a traumatic experience and the way it messes w your head is so awful. no kid should ever have to wonder if their parents will take back their love if who they are isn’t who their parents want them to be. and ppl should not become parents if they aren’t willing to love and support their kids if they turn out to be gay

The fact that Good Omens S2 was SO QUEER.
Not Just Maggie and Nina (and Lindsey)
Not just Aziraphale and Crowley
Not even just Gabriel and Beelzebub (who is NB)
But the magician shopkeeper and his trans/NB spouse who wore a fancy early 19th century dress to the ball.
Job's son who was flirting with Aziraphale (hilariously played by Ty Tennant giving Michael Sheen heart eyes in front of his dad lmao)
Even the tough macho man in Scotland that Aziraphale borrows the phone from - using it for "Grindr".
Plus of course Michael, Uriel, Muriel, and Dagon also all being non binary/gender queer characters.
With all this, there was no homophobia, no one batted an eyelid at any characters sexualities, sexuality wasn't even brought up, characters just are who they are and like who they like. Its a non issue in the GO universe.
AKA my favourite type of queer representation. The same type found in The Sandman (show not comic).
And whilst there was plenty of drama and not everyone gets a happy queer ending (YET) there was no queer trauma to be seen. No hate crimes, no "bury your gays", no stupid discussions about how HARD it is to be out of the closet in a bigoted world, because the GO world isn't bigoted.
Its SUCH a BREATH OF FRESH AIR.
I know we have similar experiences in The Sandman, In OFMD, and even in WWDITS, but each time a new show takes this very new approach towards queer representation I feel like I'm once again sinking into a comforting hug from someone I love, who loves me back.
Its just really fucking wonderful to see. I hope we keep seeing it more and more often.
