Does Jerry get softer over time? She’s stand offish but we get those moments of softness, when she settles down with her darling and they both trust each other will she be soft or still only fleeting moments?

She doesn't get softer in theory, but you learn how to take her behavior and analyze it. Her cockiness is a part of her personality. it's not disappearing anytime soon. However, if you match her energy she will be much more comfortable. You might even be on the same level with her instead of being her property.

Example:

"I ought to give that son of a bitch a real pounding", Jerry mutters with her arms crossed over her chest.

"You should wipe the floor with his hair", you reply. "Use it like a real good mop."

She scoffs out a laugh. "I should, shouldn't I?"

"If you don't, I will."

You're about to leave, but she grabs your shoulder, forcing you back.

"Not a fucking chance, Y/N", she says. "He would grab your hair and swing you over his head like a damn propeller. I'm not letting him hurt you, you're too important to me. You can help me, but you're not doing anything by yourself, do you understand that?"

"In that case he'll hurt you too."

"I'll be fine." She taps your nods at the man. "If you take his glass, I'll put in the sleeping pills. Let's go, baby. I'm right behind you."

a/n: i am so sorry. i completely forgot about this sizzling in my inbox and it has now been SEVEN MONTHS since this movie's release. but this was such a cute idea, i needed to finish it!! im so sorry and i apologize if youve moved on from this man omg LMAO pairing : mike schmidt x gn!reader warnings : kind of heavy angst w/delving into mike's thought process, mentions of nightmares, otherwise fluff. partly proofread. SPOILERS! (but you guys... probably dont need the warning by now, right?)

mike's nightmares (dreams?) about garrett didn't really... go away after everything that happened at freddy's. sure, it gave him some ounce of comfort knowing that he'd found the man who took his brother-- one of his lifelines, away from him, and also knowing that the same man who took his brother was now dead. but regardless, it didn't take the memories nor the guilt away. mike is, and has always been convinced that everything bad leading up to now must've been his fault. starting with garrett, all the way up to vanessa's coma, no matter how many times you've told him otherwise.

and that lingering guilt seeps into his dreams, too. he's had less dreams about garrett, and he's slowly started to have actual stupid, brief, 'normal' dreams that he can't even remember once he wakes up ever since he stopped taking the ambien; he could now safely fall asleep to the sounds of your breathing, the soothing motions of your hands in his hair, and the crickets outside rather than the repetitive nature sounds on the walkman. but when the dreams about garrett happen, they're... different. they aren't the same sequence that would usually happen in his dreams like before. he can't even remember what happens in them anymore, his memory fading as soon as he wakes up as if he hadn't dreamt anything at all-- but he's always waking up with sweat condensed on his brow, his heart racing out of his chest, and a lingering feeling of dread tugging at his heart, always feeling like somebody was watching him. he'd often wake up with a gasp, or a brief shout. it brought an aching feeling like no ofher— and while he doesn't remember the dreams anymore, the aching feeling is still the same he used to get when he was searching for why, and who kidnapped his brother. and there's another overwhelming feeling of guilt too— how could he ever even think of trading his sister for garrett?

sometimes you wake up from his violent shudders or sobbing, sometimes you don't. and when you do, you're there in a heartbeat-- your body moving faster than your sluggish, tired brain to pull him close and hug him tightly into your chest as he sobs incoherent words, not caring about his cries moving through the thin walls. he'll always apologize no matter how many times you tell him that there's no need to. he woke you up. shouldn't he feel bad about that? he just doesn't want to inconvenience you anymore. but you're pulling him out of his thoughts quickly, comforting him before he even gets a chance to regret waking you up.

it doesn't take him long to calm down whenever you're around to hold him, just like how he needed. the both of you breathing softly, the only sounds audible being your heartbeat and the wind rustling the leaves of the trees outside. quiet, just what mike needed. just like what he craved, with you.

"'m so tired." he'd whisper, blinking slowly as he traced absentminded patterns on the skin of your collarbone, the repetition soothing him. he always liked doing that. and he liked when you did the same thing with him.

"i know." you'd whisper back— and he didn't need to head anything else to feel your overwhelming care for him. it was still so confusing for him to adjust to— the fact that you wanted him even after all of the fucked up shit he went through. no— you didn't just want him, you loved him. held him without a care in the world, and you'd do it in a heartbeat. you learned his body language— knowing exactly what he needed and when. you were his home— you and abby were his home.

one morning, he's waking up alone. not really something that concerned him— you had stuff to do. like work, taking abby to school when you insisted he stay home and rest. he rubs his eyes as he stares up at the ceiling for a bit longer before pushing himself out of bed— there's no use in dwelling on last night, anyways.

mike shuffles out of bed with a yawn, scratching at the skin riding up on his shirt before feeling something wrap around him at torso level. he looks down, and it's abby. he gives her a small smile, bending down slightly to wrap his arms around her, and she giggles. "i'm not supposed to say anything." she whispers, rocking back on her feet slightly. okaaay... secrets right when he woke up, just what he needed. but he smells something good— pancakes? that has him shuffling right into the kitchen, staring at you tending to the stove, the perfect image of domesticity.

as abby's shuffling into the living room to go watch labrynth once more, mike paddles behind you and wraps his arms around your waist, giving a small kiss to your collarbone as he's staring down at your perfect hands, watching you make breakfast. usually he was the one to make breakfast— what was the special occasion? "i'm guessing this is what abby was being secretive about?" he grinned softly, breathing in the warm scent of your hair. soft. you were soft.

"i told her she wasn't supposed to say anything." you replied back, giving a soft 'hmph' as you eyed abby from the kitchen with a soft smile on your face, turning the heat off to the stove before turning around to face your boyfriend. the eggs were done cooking, anyways. "just... thought i'd do something nice for you. let you sleep in a little." your voice was soft, held implications of last night's nightmares shaking mike violently awake. he... didn't get much sleep whenever they happened. his eyes fluttered softly at the feeling of your hands carding through his hair again, and he's already about to fall asleep right at the stove.

you're prepared for him to pout, claim that breakfast was his job and that you shouldn't have gotten out of bed so early with the fact that you had so much stuff to do. but instead— he gives you a soft, bashful smile as he grabs your hand gently, kissing your palm. "thank you. y'know I love you, right?" he whispered, giving you a gentle peck on your lips. fuck morning breath.

"i love you." you whispered back, moving to lean in another time before you're hearing a dramatic gag from the living room, coming from abby. you and mike are scoffing with soft grins as the both of you depart from eachother— but still never looking away.

he never really worried about his nightmares after that, anyway.

G-Witch episode 12 thoughts

Well, that was a wild ride. I think we all know the big moment that everyone is talking about but before we sprint to the finish in angst-ville, let's enjoy the relatively lighter bits-- just joking there aren't any.

Seeing the witches go all out with their permit scoring really highlights how unique Aerial and Suletta are. Still, Sophie is able to beat the GUND-format antidote by sheer force of will. And unlike Suletta it takes a huge toll. This fight was incredibly one-sided on behalf of DoF which I think we all suspected. Witches aren't feared for nothing.

In the middle of all this chaos, Miorine is shielded from debris by Delling. His talk to her and mention of Mio's mother was enlightening. They way he speaks of her makes me wonder if she was a soldier too, possibly killed by a Gundam? Whatever the truth, it's unmistakable how much he cares for Mio's well-being. He might have a shit way of showing it in a non-deadly situation, but it's better than Fail Mother of the year, Prospera.

Before we open that masked can of worms, here's a brief mention to Nika. We see her save herself and the rest of Earth House by signaling to Norea's gundam. Lucky for her, she was recognized as an ally of the 'Prince'. Not so luckily, her little morse code session was seen. Oops.

I'd like to see her collusion and secrets come to light early in the next cour. She's a good egg, just trapped between her past ties on earth and the friends she made at military school. Will it end terribly? I'm anxious to find out.

Pour one out for Bob by the way. I won't mourn Jeturk, but it's scarred his son for life. Imagine changing to become a better man all because someone was nice to you, but whoops. Patricide. That's a twist I didn't forsee but it piques my intrigue. Will Bob return to Guel with a massive revenge scheme as CEO of Jeturk industries?

But speaking of parents and children...

Posting this entire scene because I wanted to showcase, beginning to end, how informative this is for what follows next. We have Suletta fearful for her life, shocked by seeing her mother kill. She's completely shaken, yet calms once Prospera repeats the philosophy we've been hearing the whole show. The light shines upon Prospera as she offers her hand, appearing angelic in spite of the killing. You can see the moment Suletta internalizes this. Killing for those you love is just; fighting gains you two, running would mean losing someone. She moves forward and pilots Aerial as Prospera demands. It's a subtle manipulation, and from Suletta's wide-eyed stare (similar to another episode where she's desperate to believe her mother) she accepts this new reality.

Small aside, I like this brief confirmation Aerial can communicate detailed things to Suletta despite only appearing as lights and a whale-like sound to us. Very interesting.

Now onto the penultimate scene.

Messed up and shocking as this is, I found it completely in character. I don't think she's snapped or anything like that, merely accepted her mother is right and killing for another person to survive is an acceptable trade. Her unnatural cheer in this scene is unnerving, but I read this as her desperately trying to keep herself and Miorine calm; she's acting the same as always to downplay the gruesome reality.

So she does what she has always done and mimics Prospera, positioning herself in the same way. All the while she's oblivious to how horrifying her behavior comes across. Yet it doesn't escape us, nor poor Mio. I would not be surprised if Prospera used that phrase as a means of conditioning Suletta to do what she asks.

From groom to murderer in the span of one episode and cour 😔 Suletta now persona non grata. It's cruel to leave us here until April but also brilliant ngl. I can't wait to see how our fav couple navigates this conflict. All is fair in love and war.

I do love this shot though, bookends are my weakness.

Lmao I could not stop thinking about this all day like i absolutely need a oneshot like this😭😭😭.

I know Castin most likely not gonna be allowed near his wife during the birth of their child/children, but like if he was allowed he would be hella nervous throughout the process. I feel like he would be those husbands that would act like doctors (with no background or knowledge) telling his wife to push hard, not to stop, push in a certain position, telling them to calm down, lowkey lying saying that they're almost finished when they barely started😔. Mind you Castin is saying this with only good intentions only wanting to make sure that the baroness/Celica doesn't go through any complications, but boy does he annoy the hell out of her. At one point she stopped screaming and pushing only to silently turn her head to Castin and give him one of the most deadest glares he has ever received in his entire life time of living (in the room filled with nurses or doctors). 😂😂😂This would be the first time Castin has ever heard his wife say something so fowl and full of curses let alone be on the receiving end of it.

I'm sorry that I don't have time to write a oneshot now, but I can give you a scenario, Anon!

I imagine everyone who is important to the couple would be there during the birth: Lilia, Rhett, Isolde, Reyes, Dolion, and Rex would be waiting outside of the birthing room. The doctors, nurses and even Ezekiel are right there in the room to help assist the Baroness.

Castin would be pacing around, anxiety literally dripping off of him while the ladies snacked on and the men were trying to calm him down.

Lilia, carefully peeling an apple for them and the Baroness: Castin, sit your ass down before you give everyone a migraine. Oh! Excuse me, Your Majesty.

Queen Isolde: It's cool. I've heard worse from Rhett.

Rhett: Beloved -

Castin: Guys! Hello!? Why aren't y'all freaking out about this!? It's been hours since my wife went into labour!

Dolion: We know. We can read the time, brother.

Rex: Sarcasm won't help the Commander calm down, Dolion. Be more empathetic, please.

Castin: Guys!?

Rhett: Castin! Take a deep breath and sit down already! The Baroness is in good and, more importantly, CAPABLE hands. You panicking won't help -

The doors to the maternity room burst open. A very pissed-off-looking doctor stomps out, effectively silencing everyone.

Doctor: May I remind everyone that the Baroness now requires peace!? If none of you can keep it down, then I am forced to use my authority and banish all of you until further notice.

Castin, now super distressed: But...

That's when a scream broke out. One filled with pain. No one could stop him as Castin after that. Not even Rhett, for he rushes past the doctor and hurried to the Baroness' beside. Startling the nurses.

There, lying in bed with immense pain and sweating profusely is the entire reason why Castin's heart beats.

Castin, panicking now, oh boy: Babe! Babe, are you alright!?

The Baroness is now glaring at him: Yes, husband. I'm having that time of my fucking life!

Everyone in the room, including Castin, winces. But he's determined to help her in any way he can. He snatches a wet cloth from a startled nurse and carefully dabs his wife's face; not realising that he forgot to squeeze the damn thing and now her pillow and face are drenched with water.

The Baroness, furious now: CASTIN -

Castin: You're alright, babe. A-OK! Just try to breathe in more deeply and keep pushing!

An aggravated nurse: Commander, the head isn't even crowning yet! Please leave so we can -

Castin: Nah, nah, the sooner she pushes the better, right!? You're doing great! Hahaha! No need to panic! You want any water? Snacks? I can feed you!

The Baroness: Castin, get the fuck out of my room before I cut your balls out!

Cue the contractions again and this time, she screams louder than before. Rhett, Reyes, Dolion and Rex finally broke into the room to drag Castin away. NSDJKFNKJDSF WHAT A MESS!

God, time travel AU. My beloved. Maybe someday you'll get finished. Also zombie apocalypse AU, which I have left out to dry for over a year now sdfsdf.

I think I'm good at describing things!! Both emotions and scenery.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Having an actual Plot outside of just character studies sdflksd. Plot is so hard sometimes. Also, dialogue is so hard sometimes. I struggle with Taako and Kravitz especially. I just. Cannot get their voices down the way I want!!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've done it! I will probably do it again the future. I've changed the way I prefer to write it since I started writing TAZ fics. Mainly that I used to italicize any non-english words, but I've found that I don't like doing that anymore. I think it disrupts the flow, esp if the character is bilingual and not like, Just Learning the words in the fic.

hi! I love shoot your shot/conviction immensely and just finished my eighth (maybe?) read through of it. then I was checking tumblr tags and saw you did some "dvd commentaries" which was a fun bonus treat! I was wondering if you had any other thoughts about the series that never made it into the fics/asks? I've also been laughing to myself imagining people in the courthouse being like "I wonder what Howard's up to" and Jimmy and Kim just have to suffer in silence. Or sometime later a rumor (1/2)

(2/2) spreads that maybe somehow Howard's involved with Lalo? and Cliff is just like "I can't believe Jimmy is spreading rumors again 😔 I'll have to correct everyone." Anyway, thank you for such lovely fics and I hope you have a wonderful day!

aaaaah thank you so much! EIGHTH omg that is heartwarming 😭 Also “I wonder what Howard is up to” omg dying at the idea of rumours just trickling back up to ABQ. People all like "Oh I heard Howard's getting involved in some non-profit down in Mexico, that's so great of him!" And Jimmy and Kim knowing full well this has to be a cartel front like "Hnnngh".

And I’ve been trying to think of some ‘deleted scenes’ the past week! I don’t think there were any actual full SCENES I wanted to include and didn’t, other than the ‘theatre school’ background, which I worked into Conviction. Other than that, the fic turned out pretty similarly to the outline, give or take a few things that popped up organically. Although I definitely had a lot of behind-the-scenes headcanons about the characters, or random thoughts that didn’t end up getting explicitly worked in! Like these aren't new thoughts to the fic or anything, I'm just expanding on them a little more. Not sure if it's what you had in mind, but here are some NOW!

Wardo/Eduardo

I was soooo looking forward to giving Howard a nickname! Something about ‘Howie’ wasn’t doing it for me, and I also wanted something more Spanish. It didn’t take long to think of ‘Wardo’ which I LOVED the sound of, and, AND, it has the bonus of also being a nickname for Eduardo. So I liked them having yet another thing in common, and even their names being flip sides of the same coin:3 I also liked the idea of narcissistic Lalo sort of naming Howard in his image lol. There are parts in Conviction where I make references to Lalo ‘carving’ Howard like a kind of Pygmalion, so I think the ‘Wardo’ nickname fits in with that well.

Howard's mental state

One thing that didn’t get touched on a whollllle lot in the comments is what a bad headspace Howard is in in this fic. He’s not exactly suicidal, but there is a definitely a sort of shrugging self-destructive tendency. I see him as over the worst of his s4 breakdown, but even if he doesn’t actively want to die, he can’t really imagine the rest of his life either. So while I think a more mentally-healthy Howard would have pulled away from Lalo sooner, this Howard has much less self-preservation. As far as he’s concerned, even if Lalo DID snap and kill him, would that really be the worst thing? It’s not like he’s very happy with his current life anyways. That idea comes into a play in a few ways in the fic, but probably most obviously here, after they part ways in chapter 2:

Footsteps heavy, Howard forced himself to walk back across the empty lot, not sure why he felt so tired. He knew he’d dodged a bullet and that he was lucky to be walking back into his offices at all, but…

In some ways, he couldn’t help but think a bullet would have gone down smoother.

Oh Howard...the poor guy would almost rather get killed than continue his current life trajectory:S There are for sure other reasons he’s into Lalo, not just the appealing threat of danger, but the constant threat that Lalo could put him out of his misery is...not the turn-off it should be for him. Anyways, Howard's certainly no pushover in this fic, but he is more fragile in this fic than he thinks he is, and in a very good space to get corrupted. And fortunately - or unfortuantely - Lalo likes a project!

Cappuccino

His cappuccino for Cheryl has a peace sign as a literal peace offering, so his cappuccino for Lalo has a leaf on it. Ya know. Because he’s turning over a new leaf. Anyway lol. Follow for more heavy-handed coffee metaphors ☕

Lalo as a Chuck-like figure

I’d talked before about how part of Lalo’s appeal to Howard in this fic is the sense of excitement he represents, and I think that’s fairly evident in the fic. But one thing I didn’t really explore is that in some ways Howard might have seen Lalo as a new Chuck. While Howard can lead, I don’t think he actually likes the role of leader very much in this fic. I think he feels more comfortable following someone with a stronger personality. And I think he latches onto Lalo as that someone. He used to being the second in command to someone difficult, extremely intelligent, charismatic but with an edge, and also someone who requires a particular “handling”. And so Howard’s “only I can understand this man, he needs me, I’m just helping him” approach to Lalo comes easily because he already had that dynamic with Chuck.

ALSO, one thing I reeeeally wish I’d worked in, is the way Howard’s relationship ended with Chuck, and how it would have been extra rationale for him attaching himself to Lalo. I think the fact that he betrayed Chuck - and felt such guilt - would only make his sense of loyalty to Lalo even stronger. He already let down one person close to him, and that person wound up dead. So of course he could never do the same thing to Lalo. Even if what Lalo does is ethically wrong, he needs Howard’s sympathy not his judgement! Howard learned this the hard way with Chuck, and takes it to an extreme with Lalo. Howard absolutely would have used this as a justification for siding with Lalo, and would have rationalized it as the ‘right thing to do’.

Howard’s sexual experience

It’s mentioned in the fic that Howard’s slept with men twice before Lalo, but I think he’s had a little more experience than that. Howard’s approaching the idea of ‘sex’ from a sort of heteronormative point of view, where sex = penetration. So I do believe Howard’s only tried that twice, but he’s probably experimented before that, enough to know that yes it is something he is in fact interested in. There’s “that one time in Tahoe” where he ‘properly’ slept with a man for the first time, took the top role, and it was probably an incredible experience for him. We also know Howard had a not-that-great experience with bottoming that didn’t get that far, and I imagine that was the second time he had sex with a man (aka Phoenix lol). I think the first time was so good he felt it was worth exploring again, but the second time was maybe more physically unpleasant for him. So that was enough to convince him that he could hang that part of his life back up in the closet and shut the door. But there’s not enough room in the closet for Howard’s yearnings AND all those suits lol, one was going to have to spill out again.

Also in chapter 1 when his sexual experiences were mentioned, initially I imagined they were both affairs while still married to Cheryl. But then as I continued to write Howard and got to know him better, I found the idea unlikely. I think the first time was pre-Cheryl, and the second time was maybe while he was dating Cheryl, but before they got more serious. He would have considered it ‘one last experiment’ before settling down with Cheryl, and was maybe even relieved he didn’t enjoy it as much, making it easier to choose the more socially acceptable lifestyle.

(also while we’re talking about sex lol, in some ways I find it unlikely they didn’t use a condom in chapter 4. Two mostly self-aware queer guys who would have been young men in the 80s? Probs not lol. But again, Howard’s a little self-destructive in this fic!)

Gunplay

Normally I don’t really plan out sex scenes and kind of just like to follow the characters and see what they do. But that being said, I knew gunplay was definitely going to feature at some point in this fic as a sexier spin on canon lol. In an early outline I actually imagined them NOT parting ways in chapter 4, and having a whole ‘montage sequence’ of them starting an affair, leading to this:

There were different ideas for this scene, some involving Howard being more involved in the gun use and actually turning it back on Lalo a little. But in the end I like how it worked out, and the way it became a kind of surrender for Howard. Also I’d never written anything remotely as kinky as gunplay before lmao, and YET...I really don’t find it that kinky to be honest, at least not the way the scene is framed. Like sure it’s a little fucked up of them lol but c’mon, it’s romantic! It’s about being recognized! They’re absolute freaks here, but they’re freaks who see each other!! As far as gunplay goes, theirs was pretty sweet lol. Anyways, Howard needed to let go, and Lalo needed someone to want all of him, and I love that that’s what the scene turned into. It’s definitely a key turning point for both characters, and so I like that it sort of feels like the fic’s ‘water cooler’ moment <3

Aaaaaanyways, there were sooooo many things about each character that I had in mind while writing, and wish I could have included it all. But at a certain point, then it starts become more of a manifest than an actual story. I could have crammed in all these ideas more explicitly, but it would have been at the expense of flow. It felt better for characters reveal themselves through action, and still operate within the structure of a story. But hopefully some of these things came across, whether as text or subtext or what!

Oh yeah, one final thing I wanted to do but didn’t: have them order takeout from pollos hermanos lmao. I love the idea of them holed up in a motel room somewhere with a pollos bag and cups on the nightstand in the background, but it just...didn’t work lol. But we can dream.

They defs live in my brain now so it’s nice to shake them around again <3 Might pop back with some extra thoughts on Lalo's side of their whole courtship because he was going through his own progression in terms of falling for Howard, but this was getting LONG!

the long awaited nui izlo rambling is finally here!! leaving it all below the read more bc. i don't know how to shut up

(i'm copy pasting this w little to no edits from a twt thread so. sorry if the formatting is icky kasdgh)

this fic was brought to u by 1. my own darling nuis and my izumi nui does have a tear by his eye and 2. leo merch collector is such a fun concept to me

the concept of izumi being in italy while leo is away was something that lived in my head for a while ngl and there was a point where this was going to be a meowzart fic, like izumi moping around the apartment and meowzart being her cute little self. i think at one point i did have a sort of companion piece if you want to call it that, like leo would be the one at the apartment w izumi out of the country (also a meowzart fic) and the only part i actually wrote for that is what I lovingly call ace izlo

also. back to my izunui for a minute, I did try to do surgery on him but the eye embroidery is too thick to do w just a normal little sewing needle 😔😔 but he's my darling little guy and he's perfect the way he is, I just have to be careful with him 🥺

anyway! let's start w the title. this song I think is the reason I started writing mushy lines towards the end lmao, it's izlo coded to me, like pls consider (it's also in my bb playlist ✌ idk it's so izumi -> leo to me)

I make it my life's goal that izumi never knows one second of peace lmao (also somewhat unrelated, i do have this wip idea of their dormmates having to deal w them bc i think it's funny and. i miss that idea (is fully capable of still writing it))

i feel like this point comes up in . so many of my wips (I think it's honestly just me feeling like it does but. still) and I just,,, man post checkmate, the way you live in my head

izumi is so. easily swayed when it comes to leo (thank u rhythm tourism for confirming that for me <33) (I like to think that leo is somewhat aware of this fact) but yeah that comes up so much in this fic and I think it's so fun bc. sorry to say but izumi is such a loser

izumi cardboard cutout is such a funny one to me, leo would so have one. anyway, reloaded reference 🎉 also. the izumi calendar being a canon thing might be one of the best things happyele has done, unfortunate I'm p sure they'll be skipping it in engstars 😔

I feel like I'll end up forgetting to mention it, but like recital, the way izumi refers to leo nui changes over the course of the fic (aka after day five, izumi starts referring to leo nui w gendered pronouns fkdksl) they had a bonding moment <33

this is probably my favorite part of the fic ngl like honestly. I don't even think I can make fun of izumi here bc I think something that grossly domestic would fix me too (but it's still so funny to be like. izumi wakes up in a bad mood and his first thought of how to fix it is to imagine a whole scenario w leo that is soft but. maybe he really is onto something)

the day three naruritsu call is bc i started writing nui izlo last august which was a month before nrrt week and they were in my head so bad (they haven't left). and then I was like haha what if I write the date for nrrt week before the fic is finished. and now this year it's like,, haha what if i (hopefully will actually write the date this time but also. as a small aside, the concept of arashi having to be straight up told it's a Real Date and not a friend date is so good in this essay i)

this is supposed to be bc they're not speaking a language izumi personally knows how to speak, so only certain words make sense think of it when you hear someone speaking another language and there's loan words or cognates that you recognize even if u don't know what's being said

I said it in the a/n but this part and all of day five is that even though they're past the events of checkmate and everything that came from it, things aren't magically like. Perfect, yk? like they found their way back to each other and knights didn't fall apart but that doesn't mean that everything that happened then doesn't bother them to some extent. like just look at next door and mr they can't know i care taking the earliest flight to japan w limited knowledge of what's going on + leo leaving in the first place bc of an argument like I can go on for a while (so much of ! was izlo figuring shit out bc of what happened between them so i mean,, it's definitely still prominent in their lives even if it's in the past).

he's funny for being like wait can someone hear me rn, their conversation is happening in japanese lmao

happy brief trans leo mention, this part also makes me so like. giggles kicks feet and idk why exactly. anyway leo is trans, it just never really comes up in my writing so fkxksl (is anyone in knights really cis? the answer is no)

day five aka the radio silence day is so,,, I wanted to have a day like this in here but I felt like I was being a little dramatic abt it but i was like well. izumi knows that leo is probably busy and they're in a better space now, but all things considered, I do think he'd worry. I mean izumi is worrier #1 but fkdks that's not the point. by this point, he has mostly stopped blaming himself for checkmate but u do have to realize that next door did happen and he did make leo leave that time, that one was all him so,, but even outside of that, I don't think izumi is like. Concerned about it every time that leo stops talking to him or is out of the country, but in this situation, he already misses leo and they'd talked for a while the day before then to wake up to hear absolutely nothing is not fun. (i probably have more but idk where i'm going w this rip) I just think there's something there, yk? like idk they're a little (very much) attached to each other

requiem reference (izumi will never live it down sorry). was going to talk abt their relationship and the use of partner rather than boyfriend but. idk.

niki's kitchen is such a funny circle to me bc they really just. have a signed framed picture of izumi there for the meetings so gkdksm obligatory mention (plus I do think izumi is Aware that niki knows what he's doing in the kitchen so he'll actually take his advice)

when I was planning this fic out, this part was going to be a little different; izumi wasn't going to realize he had leo nui until he was in the store and he looks down into the bag and there's a little guy in there but mckslsl

I think this is so cute and I'm specifically pointing it out so you all agree w me. like idk izumi would think leo's dumb alien shirts r so fucking ugly but that's the first thing he's putting on when leo is out of the country for any extended period of time

Heeeeyyyyyy!! Im really sorry for the late reply, I was busy for the past week!!

I got around to starting CAW manga!! it is *really* good. I personally prefer it to the anime!! I had to read it from the start bc I forgot almost everything about the plot and now that I have read it back to back, I am surprised by how connected it is! I thought the chapters would be unrelated to each other and instead focusing on the educational aspect of the show, but it is surprisingly very well paced! (I haven't finished it yet though)

Anyway, nice! I loved the manga when I first read it in 2018! It was really great and I love the little tidbits about actual cell biology and science! And yeah, the arcs sort of move into each other seamlessly, often bringing characters from the past into the present arc (depending on what pathogen/teratogen is in the body).

And yes, I am that evil! I remember having so much writing that chapter, I wanted to break AE-3803 while simultaneously making sure that Cancer was a menace both physically and psychologically.

Timeline where Cancer is their friend… Well, there is the rest of the Abnormalities series… The series is an overarching plot where AE-3803, U-1146, and Cancer confront their persnoal demons, weaknesses, and what it's like to have their roles predetermined in the body. I wouldn't say true redemption is in the cards for Cancer, but AE-3803 eventually talk it out.

9. Do you believe in ghosts? This isn’t about writing I just wanna know.

personally, no. i think my parents do, but i've always been more of a see-to-believe kind of person. not that i want a ghost to appear before me !! would very much like to avoid that !! that being said, i do Not watch horror. never have, never will. i was born a coward.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

CURRENT WIP 😭😭😭 which one is the better question 😔 but i think i'll talk about behold the sun !! the amount of reading i've done (and have yet to do) for this series is more than i've normally had to do but it's been so fun weaving in bits of mythology and history to the characters. for example, the title itself has a lot to do with japanese mythology and history. don't want to spoil anything but it relates to the origins of the yamato dynasty and shinto deities. the seasons will also play an important part in the timeline!! god, it's been a hot minute since i've worked on behold the sun so i'm pretty sure i'm forgetting stuff but yeah! that's the gist i guess

29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?

honestly, i never have a lot of trouble when it comes to inspiration. it comes randomly (when i'm in the shower) and usually when i least expect it (when i'm in the shower). most of the time it's from music, especially soundtracks because i always want to try to capture the feeling the music invokes. it's weird, but do you ever listen to a song and think "oh god, i want to write this. i want to write whatever this song is saying."

as for when inspiration runs dry, i usually take a shower. but real talk, when i feel like things aren't working, i take a step back because i believe that you can't force writing. and also because you shouldn't force writing. ultimately this is a hobby, and it supposed to be fun. the minute it loses that is when you need to take a step back and reevaluate.

oh my lord, i can't write poems to save my life so here is one that is the core of another WIP of mine:
