Something it feels like a lot of people miss in RWBY is how often the villains are pushed into their roles by others or society.
Salem was forced into the role of villain by the gods, punished with immortality after trying to get Ozma back, then pushed deeper when she tried to fight back, lost everything, and wanted to try to end her curse on her own terms. Now with the God of Light using Ozma as his tool, Salem keeps getting pressed deeper into her role becoming the villain everyone wants her to be.
Cinder was abused by the orphanage and the madam, only ever catching a break with Rhodes until she saw no other way to save herself than fighting back against the madam. Rhodes pushed her into the role of villain by treating her like one and forcing her to fight again.
Hazel was used because of his grief of his sister's passing. We dont know much, but it can be inferred that Gretchen died while as a student in Beacon since she died in a training mission, but Hazel was pushed to find Salem. After meeting her and trying to kill her, his grief and anger was pointed towards Ozpin, turning him into a weapon for Salem.
Tyrian's a serial killer and seems to be the odd one out at the moment.
Watts gave into his jealousy after Pietro's project was chosen. From the sound of it, Ironwood never fully appreciated everything he did for Atlas, but that's all speculation and possible unreliable narrator.
Emerald was a street kid living on her own. She fell into Cinder and walked the line of villain because it gave her a place to belong until she found something more.
Mercury was abused by his father and trained as a killer. He sees no other purpose for himself and gladly lives that lie for now.
Neo was neglected and abused by her family, initially turning to shoplifting as a way to get attention, only to find herself getting deeper into crime after meeting Roman. She found someone who understood her and cared about her in him, so it wasn't a hard choice.
Adam was branded by SDC workers and gave into his anger when the White Fang wasn't getting the results he wanted. He treaded a slippery slope of wanting to help and defend the White Fang, eventually getting pushed to want humanity to fear faunus and serve them like the faunus did humans.
Ironwood gave into his paranoia and anxiety, isolating himself more and more as things went wrong. Noble goals were pursued in the worst of ways, bringing his fleet as security for the Vytal Festival, closing kingdom borders to help ease tensions of war between kingdoms, redirecting supplies from Mantle's wall repair to Amity, every act playing right into Salem's hands until he was pushed to do things his way to stop Salem and save Atlas, isolating himself further until he sank with his kingdom.
Every single one of them have been pushed into their roles because none of them had the support they needed to do better. For some, like Ironwood, Adam, and Watts, that was on them for giving into their feelings, blinding them to what was going on around them. Salem, Cinder, Mercury, and Tyrian haven't had much of a choice, pushed into being villains by their actions and by others. Emerald, Hazel, and Neo never had the support they needed to tread a different path, and once they did, that support led them down the path of villains.
Villains aren't born, they're created. Pushed down a path to follow as the easy way out because no other doors open to them. Which will make it all that more interesting to see how the remaining, living villains will be dealt with. Will they be given a hand and support needed to change? Or proven right that all they are are villains with no hope of change?

Bumbleby VS Robyn
Tumblr media
Blake and Yang's most important moment in volume 7 is their disagreement over Ironwood and Ruby, which is solved with their fight against Robyn and their choice to share the truth with her.
This is overall a minor moment, but it touches on several important themes and ideas, which are central to Blake and Yang's arcs.
ROBYN AS BUMBLEBY'S FOIL
Robyn herself is an interesting foil to both bees.
Just like Blake, she is a freedom fighter and she isn't afraid to break the law for her ideals:
Robyn: The law isn't perfect, you know. It's certainly not equal. My only goal is that all the citizens of Mantle and Atlas -- and Faunus -- have an equal shot at a good life.
Blake: There's too much wrong in this world to just stand by and do nothing. Inequality, corruption… Someone has to stop it.
Her political history even resembles Blake's. She is the leader of a movement, who hopes to change society peacefully. Still, when this chance is stolen, she resorts to strength.
Just like Yang, she is a person who gives much importance to honesty and trust:
Robyn: We can't fix the wall without the supplies on these trucks. I think Mantle deserves to know what they're being used for. It doesn't have to be difficult. Just tell me.
Yang: If we're going to help, if we're going to keep risking our lives, no more lies. No more half-truths.
She even resembles our Goldilock in personality. She is as quick to give names as Yang is to make puns. Morevoer, both are strong-willed and sometimes hot-headed. (Also, both are blond and with purple eyes)
So, Blake and Yang are really asked to face off against a part of themselves. Not only that, but they are forced to play parts they deep down dislike.
Blake is forced to arrest a Huntress, who is trying to help the poor and the oppressed:
Blake: I can tell you, ambushing a Huntress who's just trying to help isn't an option I'm thrilled about choosing.
Our Shadow Beast has spent the majority of her life fighting Atlas, but she is now allied with Ironwood who embodies the Kingdom and its classism.
Yang is forced to hide information from others. Both from Ironwood because of Ruby and from Robyn because of Ironwood:
Yang: Do you… Do you think we should've told Ironwood about Salem, before he put so much on the line for Amity? I trust Ruby, but I think he deserves to know what he's stepping into. We all did.
She was the angriest at Ozpin for keeping secrets, but she is now withholding information herself.
In short, Blake and Yang are in a new situation. Blake is with those in power. Yang is in the known. And yet things aren't easier:
Blake: I'm not sure there are many good options left for any of us anymore. Keeping secrets, taking lives? It makes you wonder how far we're gonna have to go to keep doing the right thing.
Now that they are stronger and wiser, the bees realize they might be becoming like those they resented. So, they decide to forge a new path:
Blake: It isn't an option I'm thrilled about choosing. Yang: Then, maybe we shouldn't.
They take a risk and share the truth with Robyn. What's the outcome?
SHADOW AND LIGHT
Out of the ashes a new flame ignite Rise up from shadows and into the light
Bumbleby vs Robyn is a fight, which makes full use of shadows and lights. This kind of symbolism is dear to Blake:
Tumblr media
After all, she is linked to the twilight, when lights and shadows meet, because she is meant to become a bridge between different cultures and people. Here, she fulfills this role.
Tumblr media
Throughout their battle, Bumbleby stay in the light. Robyn instead steps into the shadows:
Tumblr media
This happens because our 2 girls can move in the light of Atlas society and know the truth. Meanwhile Robyn can only survive by escaping and hiding and is in the dark.
So, Blake tries to overcome the gap:
Tumblr media
Blake: Amity Colosseum, all these supplies, they're for… They're for a new communications tower.
She leads Robyn towards the light:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Blake's call. She is supposed to bring people lost in darkness into the light. This is why symbolically she can see in darkness (like a cat). It is so she can notice people who are unseen and unheard and make them visible and heard. Here, she stays true to herself.
PLAY BOTH SIDES
Play both sides (play both sides) When truth you cannot recognize
Bumbleby vs Robyn is rooted in the themes of trust, lies and truth. All these ideas are central to Yang's character:
Raven: The truth is that "truth" is hard to come by. A story of victory for one person is a story of defeat for someone else. By now, your uncle has surely told Ruby and her friends plenty of stories.
This is Raven's teaching, after all. In order to understand the complexity of the world Yang should doubt others and ask questions:
Yang: Why should we believe any of this? Raven: Now you're catching on. So far you've done nothing but accept what others tell you, but you need to question everything.
This is the only way for her to see what is usually hidden:
Scathing eyes ask that we be symmetrical, one sided and easily processed. Yet every misshapen spark's unseen beauty is greater than its would be judgement.
So, this is what Yang does throughout the whole scene. She expresses doubts about Ruby's decision and comes up with her own strategy to deal with the current situation. Blake may be the heart of the operation, as she is the most determined to get through and is the one to step forward. Still, Yang is the mind, as she is the one to bring up the idea in the first place. Let's highlight this idea is in itself an ambiguous solution.
On the one hand Yang and Blake are telling Robyn the truth and trusting her. On the other hand they are adding new secrets and lies between them and Ironwood's group:
Ironwood: Are you with me? How did Robyn know about the Global Communications Project?
In short, Yang finds a solution to pursue trust and honesty, but she does so by accepting the necessity of a gray zone. Maybe this is why she is the one who looks straight into the shadows, after Blake leaves first:
Tumblr media
And what she sees is disturbingly familiar:
Robyn: I won't stop until I know the whole truth.
Yang: That question… Why? I didn't know an answer, but I was determined to find out. It was all I thought about.
Tumblr media
ADAM AND RAVEN'S GHOSTS
So, the bees come up together with a solution to their current predicament.
Blake is passionate about this idea and pursues it with faith. She leads Robyn into the light with no hesitation.
Yang comes up with the plan, but is wary of the situation. She looks at Robyn's shadows and has doubts.
These opposite approaches are complementary and clearly stem from Blake and Yang's different developments, which the scene references through the subtle presence of both Adam and Raven.
Adam is directly alluded to:
Yang: Blake. We did… what we had to do. Blake: I know. But next time, I wanna make sure we don't have to.
Blake regrets killing Adam. She knows she had no other choice, but is still not happy about it and does not want to go through something similar again. Even if she is now stronger and free, she still has some emotions to unpack. This is why Adam comes up here and in another moment of volume 7:
Tumblr media
Blake: I just realized where we are. This mine was closed after an explosion. Weiss: I remember this disaster. Or rather, I remember how furious it made my father. I wish I could take back the years of pain my family has caused the Faunus and all of my complacency in it.
In the mine Blake remembers both Adam's SDC scar and Ilia's parents. They are two memories linked to Faunus discrimination, which is a problem she is still grappling with. Our Cat Girl is then still mulling over some unsolved feelings over:
Adam's death
The Faunus discrimination
It is then no surprising this comes up in 2 scenes linked to specifically Yang and Weiss, so the 2 characters set up to help with these 2 sides of Blake's story.
Raven isn't mentioned, but her presence is there, as Yang clearly follows her mother's advice. She is asking questions and thinking for herself. She even comes up with a plan where she and Blake go behind their allies' back for what they believe in.
Yang: You're right. I don't know you. I only know the Raven dad told me about. She was troubled, and complicated, but she fought for what she believed in, whether it was her team or her tribe!
In other words, Yang here takes after Raven. She plays the part of the Wise Woman who shares a part of her knowledge, but not all of it because it is dangerous:
Yang: Look, we are trusting you, so trust us when we say that Amity Tower needs to stay a secret until it's done. We just need a little more time.
Yang is clearly conflicted about this. As she is in general conflicted about Raven herself. This is shown also in another moment of volume 6:
Maria: Child, a Huntress is supposed to protect others to the bitter end. But after I lost my eyes, I only ever looked after myself. Even after my surgery, I was too afraid to fight. Afraid someone would find me again, finish what the others started. You shouldn't aspire to be like me, especially when some of you are clearly stronger already. Upon hearing this, Yang looks down sadly.
Once again it is the context and Yang's body language which drive the message home. Maria frames herself as an authority figure who fails the younger generation. She says she ran away and that the kids are clearly already stronger than her. This is bound to bring a very specific conversation to Yang's mind:
Yang: Oh, shut up!! You don't know the first thing about strength! You turn your back on people, you run away when things get too hard, you put others in harm's way instead of yourself!! You might be powerful, but that doesn't make you strong.
In short, Yang still can't fully process Raven. She can't reconcile the Wise Woman with the Terrible Mother. This is what these 2 brief moments suggest. And once again they seem lousely linked to 2 different teammates:
Blake > the girl Yang loves and with whom she wants to share a future with
Ruby > Yang's little sister she is determined to protect like their mother couldn't
Future and Past - 2 things Yang still has to fully deal with.
As you can see, these short scene is really full of motifs, themes and foreshadowing. Blake and Yang's arcs have been on break throughout Atlas, but the 2 girls still received moments which flesh them out and build their future storyarcs.

BASED OR CRINGE
Ruby: It's over, Salem!
Salem: You cannot destroy me, Ruby. YOU'RE CRINGE.
Ruby: AGH! N-No! I... It can't be...!
Salem: A cringe-ass huntress like you could never destroy a creature as basef as me.
Ruby!
Ruby: Mom?! (Opens her scroll)
Summer: If you're hearing this pre-recorded message, then it means the worst has truly happened. Salem has come forward and has called you "cringe".
Salem: How could you have possibly known and prepared for this specific possibility?
Summer: She may be wondering how I could have prepared for this specific possibility. Unfortunately, since this is a pre-recorded message, I can't answer her.
Salem: ...
Summer: Listen to me, Ruby! All of my life, I've trained and conditioned my body to give life to the most based huntress who's ever lived. With the help of Atlas technology, you are genetically designed to be based!.
Salem: She's lying to you, Ruby. I have the ability to detect cringe inside everything and everyone.
Summer: She may be saying that her powers allow her to detect cringe...
Salem: Stop doing that!
Summer: ...And yes, it is unfortunately true that there is part of you that is cringe.
Salem: See?
Summer: It is the blood of Salem that runs inside of you!.
Salem: What?!
Summer: If you defeat her, there will be no cringe left.
Salem: This is ridiculous! Cringe is never determined by genetics; it's behavior that determines cringe! Even if I were cringe, my DNA would have no effect on Ruby being cringe.
Summer: She may be making arguments about the genetics and behavior of cringe, which may seem valid, but look at this meme I made, which depicts Salem as the soyjak and you as the chad! She has already lost!.
Salem: Ghk! Impossible! They... They didn't even have meme twenty years ago!
---------------------------------------------------
Ironwood: Ozpin, what the fuck is going on?!
---------------------------------------------------
Raven: No worries! You've got this, RuChad!.
Salem: Your mother's... strangely prophetic message changes nothing.
YOU'RE STILL CRINGE.
Ruby: No, Soy-lem-
Salem: Please don't say that.
Tumblr media
YOU'RE CRINGE.
Tumblr media
I'M NOT CRIIIIINGE! I'M BAAAAAAAAAAA-
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------------
Ozpin: James, what the fuck is a soyjak?

marvel's midnight suns | misc quotes 1
Tumblr media
I will not be howling at the moon any time soon.
Have to say, for a haunted Transian Castle raised on the cursed grounds of Old Salem it's pretty cozy.
I really should up my homeowner's insurance.
You smell... wrong.
You know what they say. All work and no play... is how we ended up with Ultron.
We invented stealth.
I don't actually care, but they need to stop moping. So. Can they play with your dog?
Admit what? That I feel a sense of admiration and respect for a fellow teammate?
Yeah, I didn't figure someone so great and powerful would be into a book club.
You're hung up on the were-roosters... Alright, let's hear what you got.
Is this visit business or pleasure?
How’s your mental health? A good portion of this “darkness hunting” game is mental health and processing intense situations.
But, hell on Earth isn’t a garden stroll.
I’ve spent decades experimenting and putting it together. Any of ’em interest you?
I’m telling you. I don’t know what’s coming next, but I do know when the shit hits the fan with Chthon...
You’re acting like I did it for fun...
Comfortable? I’ll never be comfortable around that monster. . .
You’re turning out to be one of my favorite people. . .
Why do you think? They take vicious killers and present them as tragic and misunderstood.
It’s just... Off, somehow. I swear, the moonlight on a clear evening is too dim for this time of year...
Was your first thought about killing me?
What I’m asking is, if I lost control, would you stop me?
Let’s talk about how your mother just turned one of my best friends against us.
These people look to me for guidance, but it feels like I’m stumbling around in the dark.
Just the fact that you are willing to learn means you’re on the right track.
So how do I tell him I’m totally cool with being best pals without scaring him off...
It wouldn’t take many guards to secure the building. So the question is: What else are they doing in there?
It’s not big enough to swim laps. Its only real purpose is for lounging and soaking up the sun.
It figures she’d send you. Did she tell you I want nothing to do with it? Because I still don’t.
Every time I think I’ve got my mind wrapped around this conflict, I get thrown a curveball.
But right now? I want to let you know how proud I am to be serving alongside you and watching your leadership.
Maybe this is what we’re supposed to be doing, fighting an endless war.
What do you make of our chances to get out of this mess in one piece?
That’s an easy question with a complex answer. Tell me this–what type of leader would you follow?
I always did what I thought was right. No more, no less.
Well, not so much fish as that ginormous, invulnerable sewer monster that swallowed the Sanctum.
I’m told I can be rather persuasive when I need to be.
It’s all just starting to blur into one big giant green gamma mess…
I’m having it right now and-wait. I think… oh no. Did I feed my cat before I left?
Would you have been able to take the shot? Because I don’t think I could’ve.
I’m going to be up all night trying to make sense of it, see if it helps us find our way back into the Sanctum.
But the more I see him in action, the more I think he might be an okay dude.
I’m telling you if I have to spend one more hour scanning digital maps…
All you have to do is be ready to fight for what you care about when the time comes.
Yeah, I know. Nasty artifacts like that aren’t known for their safety features…
I have to admit, I don’t think you’d be such a formidable poker player. Yet another reason to respect you.
This is the life, licking it with the legendary Hero, and kicking said legendary Hero’s ass at a fighting game.
Believe it or not, I don’t have a lot peeps I can call friends, not close ones at least.
I feel like you get how just how heavy all that extra baggage…
Sadly, the sense of wonder eventually wears off like most things.
… Sorry if I’m ruining any romantic notions of space travel.
I’m not just my powers. Sometimes I like to take it slow…
I’ve tried blindfolds, facing away from the board, and one-finger throws. Perfect score, every time.
The forbidden nap, if you will. Mercenary work is a grab bag of awful stuff…
Because looking at it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I can play nice all day when we’re out there kicking bad guy booty…
Uh, haven’t you listened to anything I’ve said? Money!
I forgot. You aren’t as self-aware as I am…
Well, your friends have been avoiding me like the plague…
He waved goodbye and peaced out to live a life of solitude…

What are those AU, you know I find it pretty ironic that Jaune is a dragon Faunus but is still training to be a knight, because in fairy tales it’s always the knight that slays the big bad dragon, but since Jaune is both it makes me wonder just what kind of big bad Jaune will need to overcome.
It’s Just His Nature
The Grimm Lands.
Salems castle was under attack by a combined force of Hunters from across the world along with the might of the, Atlas Army along with several high ranking, and highly skilled members of the, White Fang.
They were here to finish the centuries long shadow war between the witch, and the wizard, and upon this day the war would finally come to an end.
Just not how any of them expected it to end.
Ozpin: Come on! We’ve nearly won this war!
Dozens hunters,and soldiers ran to doors leading to, Salem’s throne room, but before they entered, Headmaster Ozpin of Beacon Academy stood before them all to given them a final speech before the upcoming battle.
Ozpin: We are here, just beyond these doors lay our dreaded foe! From here on out we will fight out enemy, and we will…?!
: Oh shut up will ya!
The fellow who interrupted, Ozpin’s little speech stared at, Ozpin with a highly annoyed glare with his sharp deep blue eyes. His gold hair was flanked by a matching pair off-white horns that ran up the side of his head, peaking into a crown of three points that bore a golden hue. Giving this rather extraordinary faunas his own natural golden crown.
For he was a king. For before, Ozpin stood, King Jaune Arc, Dragon King of the Faunas. And, he was not amused.
Jaune: You’ve given over a dozen speeches for every five meters we’ve manage to take. If I have to listen to one more long winded speech I’m going to take my forces, and leave you here. But, not before I cut up your face to the point that it makes an, Apathy look handsome!
Jaune flexed his hand letting his claws flash threatening before, Ozpin’s face. With a threatening glint in his eyes as he dared anyone to face him.
It had been years since, Jaune graduated from, Beacon Academy, and even longer since he was inducted into, Ozpin’s little cabal. He had long since lost his willings to deal with, Ozpin, and his bullshit as a result of it.
And, all, Ozpin could do was gulp nervously as a series of eyes belonging to the, King’s Guard agree with their, King, and glared dangerously at the old man.
Ozpin: …
Ozpin: Okay then…
The doors to, Salem’s throne room exploded open as several individuals came rushing in to find the Queen of the Grimm sitting upon her throne looking at the intruders as if they had just come in, and served her cold tea.
Salem: Ozma… I see you’ve finally grown a spine, and decided to take the battle to my door step. How kind of you…
Ozpin: Enough, Salem! You reign of tyranny ends now! Surrender, or face our wrath!
Salem laughed hauntingly echoed throughout the hall as she rose to her feet, and descended from her throne crystal throne. Her blood red eyes stared at, Ozpin’s as an amused smile spread across her face.
Salem: And, how do you plan to do that? You know I’m immortal; You can decapitate me, crush me, incinerate me, and so many other colourful ways you could kill a person, and I would simply shrug it off as a mild inconvenience. So, what could you possibly do to stop me?
Ozpin: I will trap you in a hell that you fear more than any other.
Salem: I’m a immortal who has lived for thousands of years; I have lived through a hell unlike any other! What kind of hell do you possibly think could be worse than the life I was forced to endure?!
Ozpin: Back to where I should have left you… Back to your cage in the high tower!
Salem’s eyes widened in pure fear. A emotion that she had not yet felt in millennia. Ozpin’s threat was one that struck at the heart of her. For how better to wound her more than she already was, but to be trapped in the cage she longed to be freed from, by the very man who once set her free. And, that thought stroked the flames of rage within, Salem unlike ever before felt.
Salem: You dare…? You dare…?! You dare to threaten me! Threaten me to lock me in a tower away for all time, and eternity?!! You will die a thousand deaths, this world would burn a thousand times over before I let you imprison me once again!!! I swear you will, Ozma!!!!
Ozpin: Bring it you foul fiend for I will…?!
Jaune: Hold up! Hold up now… Before we begin I have some questions I’d like some answers too.
The Dragon king walked between the quarrying couple with his hands out stretched in a non-threatening posture as he addressed the pair.
Ozpin: Mr. Arc?! What the hell are you doing?!
Jaune: You shut up, or I’ll gouge out your eyes.
Jaune glared threateningly at, Ozpin before he turned to address, Salem.
Jaune: Okay, Ozpin told me about your past relationship. Of which I blame, Ozpin, and the Gods for most of your problems…
Ozpin: E-Excuse me?!
Jaune: But: ‘Locked away in a tower?’ What is that all about? Ozpin told me most of the world’s fairytales were made by him, so would that mean that you are, ‘The Princess in the High Tower?’ Or, ‘The Girl in the High Tower,’ which ever title you prefer. The fairytale is a title of a difference.
Salem rage faded just ever so slightly as she gazed at the rather curious looking faunas before her.
Salem: Yes… Yes I am… Was! I was, ‘The Princess of the High Tower.’ Why does that matter? Who I was back then no longer matters; that life has long since been dead, and buried. It doesn’t matter anymore…
Jaune: I can gather that, but, Ozpin… Ozpin, was the knight who saved you from the tower…?
Salem: He was the one who saved me.
Jaune: I see…
A devious smile spread across, Jaune’s face as something, some deep unknown switch in his mind was flipped on.
Ozpin: Mr. Arc… Why are you smiling about…?
Jaune: Oh… Just realizing how many many stereotypes I tend to inhabit… Seemingly out of nature, and desire than anything else. Hmmph… Ain’t that a weird thought?
Ozpin: W-What are you talking about?
Jaune: Well, since I can’t be the knight who saves the princess, I’ll just be the dragon who steals the princess instead~!
Ozpin: What the hell are you talking about?!
Jaune: This~!
(CRACK!)
Ozpin: OH GODS?!!
(Thud!)
Salem: Ohhh… His next reincarnation is going to feel that~!
After, Jaune’s swift, and incapacitating kick to, Ozpins nuts, in the blink of an eye, Jaune ran over, and picked up, Salem who gave a startled shriek as, Jaune ran for the door.
Salem: W-What?! Hey! Put me done this instant!
Jaune: She’s mine! She mine: She minnnne~!
As, Jaune bolted out the door, his royal guard quickly followed after him, throwing a smoke grenade behind the to hide their presence as they disappeared. By the time Ozpin, and his combined forces could give chase, Jaune’s forces had sabotaged all of their aircraft engines, and made their escape.
And, as, Ozpin watched, Jaune Arc, and his forces make their escape with the, Queen of the Grimm, he made the one thought on his mind vocal for all to hear.
Ozpin: …
Ozpin: What the fuck just happened…?
~~~
One Year Later.
~~~
In the hills of, Menagerie, over looking the town of, Kuo Kuana, lay the castle, Ásgeirr, home of the Dragon King, and his brood.
And, the one place in all of, Remnant, Ozpin so desperately wanted to get into. But, considering the ever so watchful guards, Ozpin had not been able to get close in the slightest. And, fear from an uprising of the faunas population across the four kingdoms, Ozpin couldn’t persuade them for an all out attack. And, many of his students tended to come from, Menagire, and benefited greatly from the, Dragon King’s rule so it was impossible for him to have his students help him. So, he would have to brave this alone. And, this time, this time he would get into Arc’s castle!
And, he would!
Only he was bound, sorely beaten, dragged into the castle.
It wasn’t how he would have preferred to get into the castle, but it worked.
He was dragged up to a balcony that over looked the city of, Kuo Kuana. Standing on the edge was the, Dragon King looking over his domain. He stood there for a moment before looking down at the intruder that dared threaten his kingdom, and his family with his shear presence.
Jaune: You know… If you wanted to see me, you could have just scheduled an appointment. That would have been far easier to do compared to everything else you have been trying to do.
Ozpin: How could I trust you to let me in?! The last time I saw you, you kicked me in the balls, picked up, Salem, and ran away with her. I fail to see how, asking you politely if I could come in to see you would have worked!
Jaune: Mmm… Fair, fair. Sometimes I just lose my mind when what one would see as a dragon stereotypes comes into play.
Ozpin: And, that’s why you kidnapped, Salem?
Jaune: The Princess, and the Dragon tropes; Yeah, that’s pretty much why I did it.
Ozpin: And, then you refused to let anyone see her! Much less know what you did with her! Do you think that helped you win any battles!
Jaune: Well, actually she didn’t want to see you, or anyone else for that matter. And, she likes her privacy, so why should I tell you what we’ve been up to. Besides I was keeping you safe by keeping you away from her.
Ozpin: I can handle her, you didn’t need to concern yourself with that!
Jaune: No, I was keeping you safe from me.
Ozpin: Safe from you? Why?!
Jaune: I’ll put it to you simply; You so much as breath on her, and I will hunt your reincarnations down for the rest of my life. And, the only thing I would ever regret is that no matter how many times I could kill you, you would eventually get away, because you would outlive me.
Ozpin: What are you talking about?
Jaune nodded his head behind him, and Ozpin’s turned, and saw Salem resting comfortably in a fainting couch. A cool drink lay in her hand as she basked in the warm sun, and the cool sea breeze. She smile softly as she waved to, Ozpin. Her smile only growing as she saw his eyes widen in shock as he noticed the noticeable bump on her stomach.
Ozpin: Salem?! You’re pregnant?!
Salem: Quite an astute observation from you, Ozma. I’m impressed.
Ozpin: W-What… But, how?!
Jaune: Considering you were a father multiple times, Ozpin, one would think you would understand how it works.
Ozpin: Not that. How did you two get together?
Jaune: Well, while the urge to grab her, and run like hell was certainly something dragon faunas related, unlike you I knew what, Salem’s greatest pain was.
Ozpin: Her greatest pain.
Jaune: Yes. Salem’s greatest pain she ever had to endure : Loneliness.
Ozpin: Loneliness…?
Jaune: Yes, loneliness.
Salem: A pain that I never even fully knew I suffered under. Until my darling King pointed it out to me.
Ozpin: Why was that your greatest pain?
Jaune: Think, Ozpin think! She was trapped all alone in that towers for years. Then one day she is freed from her life of solitude, then you died, and she was all alone again. She fought the gods to have you back, but they refused, then they cursed her to live forever, alone. Years passed, and you finally came back, only to betray her, and leave her all alone once more. Salem’s life has been one of sadness born of loneliness, rage born from betrayal, and unjust punishment. And, pain from unobtainable dreams through no fault of her own. And, now I will right the wrongs that, Salem has been forced to endure. Not because I believe I must do so for the good of the world, or some other bullshit like that. But, because I love her, and I want her to be happy.
Salem shed a few tears of joy as her beloved husband came over, and gave her a passionate kiss filled with love, and compassion for such a broken soul.
Ozpin: But, she is still her, Grimmified version of herself! What is to stop her from becoming evil once more!
Jaune: Her family.
Ozpin: Family…?
Jaune: Me, my sisters, my mother, and my father. My many wives, and their children, and the child that grows within her. Salem will have a family that loves her, and even if I die before her, she will never be left alone ever again.
Salem: Oh, Jaune…
Jaune: My Queen.
The pair shared another kiss before, Jaune turned to face the dumbstruck, Ozpin as he stared, at the, Dragon King, and one of his many beloved wives, The Grimm Queen.
Jaune: So, Ozpin. Now that you’ve seen her, what will you do now?
Ozpin eyes fell to the floor, his mind lost deep in thought until he let loose a deep sigh before addressing the happy couple.
Ozpin: It appears I was never a good husband, much less a good father was I?
Salem: Considering what happened to our first born. You… No. We… We were not good parents. But, this time, this time I will be better, but can the same be said of you, Ozma?
Ozpin: Only time will tell. May I have your permission to leave your, Grace? I have much work to do back at, Beacon.
Jaune: You have my permission.
Ozpin:Thank you, your Grace. Goodbye, Salem. I wish you well.
Salem: Goodbye, Ozpin. It was… interesting seeing you again.
Ozpin smiled as he, and his guard detail took him away from the loving couple. The only words they heard from him, was him complaining that the were restraints still necessary.
Salem: You know… I never thought I would experience such joy as I do now. I am at peace with, Ozpin. And, I have a chance to have a new life with my family. This is perfect. Thank you, my King.
Jaune: Anything for you, my Queen.
Salem: Oh really? In that case, I want to break mom’s record of how many kids she had…
Jaune: Why does everyone want to do that?
Salem: And, the next time we do it: Can we have someone else join us? My hip’s can’t handle you all on my own.
Jaune: Ha… That would be my extreme pleasure, my dear~!
~~~
While there is a chronological order to my stories. This was just one I couldn’t pass up on.
I’m just going to mark it differently on the, Master Post.
Do Enjoy~!
“You’re a witch hunter,” Steve says, cold trickling down his spine, and Billy gives him a slow blink.
“Well, yeah,” he says, as though this means nothing to him at all. Steve sighs.
“So I’m a witch?” he points out, hauling himself up onto an elbow so he can look at Billy.
But it only makes it worse. Because when he looks at Billy he’s reminded by everything that he’d be giving up. Everything that he’s spent his life searching for.
“I don’t really give a fuck, Harrington,” Billy says flatly, stretching his long arms above his head. Steve watches the muscles flex, how the motion makes his red t-shirt shift just enough to reveal a strip of creamy tanned skin. “It’s not like my family are really active hunters anymore.”
“Your dad will be pissed,” Steve says quietly, because he knows enough about Neil Hargrove to know that while no, the Hargroves don’t hunt anymore, that Billy’s dad definitely won’t let him stay with a witch. And a male one at that.
Billy scoffs loudly.
“I really don’t give a fuck,” he says again, bitterness creeping into his voice.  “And neither should you.”
Steve flops back down onto the tartan blanket and stares up into the glittering night sky. His backyard has always been perfect for this sort of thing - the clear open sky above Loch Nora, the soft glow of the pool, the complete absence of his parents. Steve had had very different intentions in mind when he invited Billy over for dinner and some stargazing. It had been a perfect third date, right up until Steve had caught sight of the witch hunter's mark on Billy’s wrist.
“I don’t care,” he lies. Because even though Billy rents a shitty studio apartment above the bowling alley, he’s still not free of Neil Hargrove. The distance isn’t going to be enough to save Billy, and Steve doesn’t need any runes or cards to tell him that. He can see it in the fingerprints around Billy’s wrist, in the long white scar on the soft skin of Billy’s thigh, the set of Billy’s jaw.
It terrifies Steve that Billy is choosing him over his own safety. “It’s not like the dating app has a ‘no witches’ option,” Billy says flatly. “And I wouldn’t fucking tick it anyway because I don’t give a shit.”
“You knew though,” Steve protests, because hiding a witch mark is far easier and something Billy must have deliberately covered on their past few dates. Billy had never taken his denim jacket off on their first date. And he’d worn long sleeves on their second date, and the few times he’s stopped in Family video to visit Steve. “You knew straight away in the coffee shop, you could smell me…”
“So what if I did?” Billy bursts out, hauling himself upright. His eyes flash in the moonlight, the unearthly indigo shade of a witch hunter, and he’s never looked more beautiful. Steve sits up too, wondering if Billy can see the glow of gold in his own eyes, the color of magic. A`dead giveaway of Steve’s lineage. Witches and witch hunters have been enemies since before Salem. And while most are no longer active, it’s still unheard of for the two to mix. “I didn’t care, Steve! You could have transformed into a bat in that coffee shop and I wouldn’t have given a shit, alright? I didn’t ask to be able to smell magic, I didn’t ask for my stupid ancestors to go out burning witches and I wasn’t about to stop our first date for something so idiotic and outdated.”
“Not about to tie stones to my feet and chuck me in my own pool then?” Steve asks, curling his fingers around Billy’s bare left wrist, just over the jagged witch mark seared into Billy’s skin. He can so easily spend the rest of his days with his skin pressed into Billy’s.
Billy gives him a flash of teeth and Steve’s stomach swoops at the sight of it. This night might go the way he had planned after all.
“Not unless you really annoy me,” Billy murmurs, eyes heavy and dark, and presses his mouth to Steve’s. It’s not their first kiss, but it’s certainly their most honest one.
When the kiss grows more heated and they fall back down to the ground, Steve takes the opportunity to use a little magic. Not something he does on the day to day, not in a tiny town like Hawkins, but he thinks maybe he can show Billy that there are benefits to dating a witch. It takes Billy a good few minutes to realize that the night sky has changed to Steve’s bedroom ceiling.
“Handy,” Billy comments, looking impressed at the sudden teleportation. His hands slide further down inside Steve’s jeans and his fingers curl around the curve of Steve’s ass. Steve sucks on Billy’s full bottom lip to stifle his moan.
“Got any good spells for getting naked?” Billy asks lasciviously.
Steve smiles and shows him.
Honestly, I feel like people who say Yang can’t notice Ruby’s behavior are also ignoring she’s literally meant to be protective/overprotective. As somebody who has felt responsibility for a family member growing up:
You’re attuned to the little things. You watch for them. I can list specific examples.
When upset, their texting style changes and uses briefer responses. They’re curt. They try to isolate themself when normally they want to talk about issues. They slip into being passive aggressive at times. They don’t try to seek me out for conversations as often.
I could accept Yang not noticing if she hasn’t been billed as a protective/overprotective sister and if Ruby wasn’t visibly behaving differently. I listed SUBTLE changes I’ve caught onto. So it baffles me people say Ruby was hiding it because she wasn’t. And even if she was, being written as overprotective or protective, YANG WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON SINCE SHED VIEW RUBY AS A RESPONSIBILITY IM SURE.
Even then it’s insane to act like a family member who has no history of violence will turn violent when expressing angry emotions. Then again, based on what they did to Qrow, I guess that is consistent writing.
I've seen people claim that anyone who has a problem with how Yang was written in V9 is "infantilizing" Ruby.
I don't know how to explain to people that saying "a suicidal seventeen year old in wartime who just lost a friend deserves a little more care than the occasional half-hearted 'are you okay,'" isn't actually infantilizing. It's also a wonder, because if I recall, rwde posters got told that expecting a seventeen year old girl to make the choice to help either the people of Mantle or the soldiers fighting Salem was cruel and horrible and we were all being far too hard on Ruby and nobody should expect Ruby to be able to hold it together under those conditions, but the second we say "Ruby needs a stronger support system from her friends and family" suddenly it's infantilizing, and how dare we suggest that Ruby not be able to get one hundred percent better all by herself, and how dare we suggest that maybe a seventeen year old might need to be taken care of a little bit here and there, and how dare we put all that on poor Yang who has her own life and can't spend all her screentime attached to Ruby.
For the record, I don't think that Yang needs to spend all her screentime attached to Ruby and I don't think that she can't have her own life. I don't even think 'she and Blake should have waited to get together' because like, they were basically forced into it by the world around them (which is a fact that this show absolutely won't take seriously or be interested in examining.) I do think that this "Blake and Yang got together while they were all stuck in chaos-central and Ruby had a breakdown after all the heavy stuff from V8 happened including the death of Penny and it feels like a bad time" thing was a bad writing choice, but that's the writers fault and it could've been avoided if Blake and Yang had been dating in volume 7 instead of them putting it off unnecessarily and/or choosing to make it happen mid-Ruby-breakdown (they could've had Blake and Yang kiss during their reunion instead of just hugging.) But that's besides the point, because the point is, I don't blame Yang the character for getting together with Blake. What I do dislike though is the way that the writers wrote Yang to act towards Ruby. Every moment that she has with Blake can stay the same! The almost hand-hold and making jokes? Although I think the jokes are in poor taste, having them flirt is fine. But then when Ruby and Weiss stop walking, Blake and Yang could notice and stop walking, and turn to try to join the conversation. Blake can still throw herself into Yang's arms when she sees her alive! But then when Ruby comes to after literally fainting from how bad her stress and trauma is, Yang can be super worried and be really hesitant to start moving on. Blake and Yang can still cheer each other on in the chess game! Only instead of Yang just accepting clear deflection and seeming to forget about Ruby's problems the second something somewhat distracting happens, we could've had Yang trying harder to get through to Ruby and pushing her to open up, only stopping when Ruby actually shuts her down and tells her she doesn't need it or want it right now. Blake and Yang can still have their moment on the bridge! Only it can also include them starting that scene with Yang taking a moment to call for Ruby and Blake helping to calm her down and get her to focus on the problem at hand (maybe with a cute "we can find her, but first we have to take it one step at a time, so just focus on me for a moment, yeah?" And Yang taking a deep breath and looking at Blake and being like "Yeah," more calm now and with her voice warm because seeing and hearing Blake is grounding to her.) They can still be caught up in their kiss so much that they didn't even notice the change of environment! Only then after Ruby runs off, Yang can be running after her but unable to keep up, with Blake and Weiss right behind her because they care about Ruby just as much, and they can lose track of her trail of petals and Yang can be like "Dammit!" And Blake can be like "I don't like this, Neo is out there," and Yang could be like "You saw her just now, she - she can't fight like this, she can't go wandering off alone!" We can still have Blake holding Yang while Ruby tries to commit suicide! But then we could also have Yang asking frantic questions about "where has Ruby gone? What happens to humans who ascend? She's not dead, is she?! Oh my God, what if she's dead?!" And we could have Yang have a bigger reaction to finding Ruby in the tree, and we could have given Yang focus when she sees the twisted zombie-like Ruby clones that the Cat conjured up instead of having Jaune's trauma so focused on, and we could've had Yang actually worry about Ruby and not just put her right back in the place of "perfect leader" when Ruby just said she didn't want that.
The problem is that the writers aren't writing Yang to act like a caring older sister because they are bad at emotional depth and they're bad at sensitivity, and they really seem to struggle with letting characters feel without taking them away from plot to do so. I'm not asking for Blake to be removed from Yang's story or to get less focus, I'm just asking for the writers to learn how human siblings usually react when their loved ones are having breakdowns, and improve on how they write characters to express emotions.
It's ridiculously over sensitive that fans can't stand to see any criticism of Yang at all without trying to come up with every excuse imaginable, or deflect like "Ruby can take care of herself!" Ruby is seventeen. I'm in my mid-twenties and two years ago I got roaring sick, and my older sister was concerned and helpful and kind and there for me, and I was like "gee isn't it great to have a sister who is here for me and helps me when I need it," and surprise surprise I was never like "She's infantilizing me!" Ruby the seventeen year old with clear PTSD having a breakdown to the point of fainting who was crying while an adult man screamed in her face and then ran away to sob on her own while an evil murderer was out to murder her... Actually did need support! And care! And attention! Honestly, the way that some people in the fndm have been acting towards Ruby ever since they decided she was a threat to their enjoyment of Yang and their ship is really weird.
1. Historical AU + 65. It's Not You, It's Me
At first my head kept coming back to a medieval setting with some royal x non-royal thing going on (which would still technically qualify as historical but kinda feels like its own thing) BUT DAYS LATER IT'S FINALLY HIT ME
Consider... Salem Witch Trials (if not in Salem then in a fictional town)... but Chloe is actually a witch. (Im bringing in fantasy elements into this version of history bc yk, skepticism abt witches even being real leading to "wait I know a witch??") She lives off in the woods doing her own thing away from everyone else when Brooke happens upon her for one reason or another.
Chloe is naturally aloof at first, because of course she is, but Brooke finds a way to bring her walls down, because of course she does. What starts as small talk while Chloe collects herbs slowly turns into long chats over tea, then eventually losing track of the hours and an insistence to stay over for the night, I'm not sending you out into the woods alone at this hour, one night wont be any trouble, etc etc.
Naturally the two grow fond of each other as time goes on, but around this time is when all the witch fear-mongering goes on back in town. Brooke is naturally terrified because what if they accuse her of being a witch?? How would she be able to disprove such claims?? Chloe would no longer have anyone to visit and keep her company. What if she just moved out of town and in with her?
Chloe avoids this line of discussion as best she can, but Brooke is adamant. She's terrified at home, she adores Chloe and finds she wants to spend more time with her than anyone else in her life, she doesn't see why she can't just move in. And Chloe? She knows by now that she's developed feelings for Brooke and doesn't want to put her in danger by associating with an actual witch, never mind all the false accusations rendering the fear all but moot. There's no right answer. There's nothing that Chloe can do to keep Brooke safe and there's no way that Chloe can express this to her.
Brooke is scared and confused. "Why can't I just live here with you? How is it any more foolish than staying in town and waiting to be declared the next witch? What am I supposed to do? Do you care for me so little that I can't be with you indefinitely?!"
"It's because I care about you that you can't stay!" Chloe finally tells her. She tells her that she's fallen for her and that it puts her in just as much danger to be with a woman than it is to be clocked as a witch. By which point Brooke wonders, "Am... am I a witch?? Have I cursed you have such feelings for me because I can't control my own for you? How could I have put someone I love in such danger for my own selfish gain?! I can't believe it, I'm a witch! I'm a horrible person and I've forced you to love me because nobody else has dared to do so! I deserve to be burned at the stake! I'm the only one that actually deserves it!"
Chloe grabs her hands in a desperate attempt to make her love stop saying such horrible things about herself. "It's not you, it's me!"
Tiger & Bunny Week Day 3
Me in the World of Tiger & Bunny as a characer.
I'm not sure how I would describe such a situation, so I'll try the best why I can as a story. Well, here it goes.
Tumblr media
It was night in Sternbild. By now, everyone has gone to bed, though, it's not strange for a car to be traveling through the streets at that time. However, one that comes to a darkened and quiet neighborhood on the Bronze Stage is a bit odd. A car comes driving in and stops in front of one of the empty houses that has a sign that says, "Rented".
A couple of houses down, Kotetsu Kabruagi, the hero formally known as Wild Tiger, was awakened by the sound of the car. Curious, he looked out his door up the street to the car and saw someone carrying something into the house. Kotetsu's curiosity got the better of him and went down to check on his new neighbor. But when he got closer… the neighbor vanished. So, Kotetsu thought he should check out this person's car. It looked like a muscle car that was almost all green. Kotetsu looked at the back of the car which had a very strange bumper sticker.on it. "I'm driving a car… because my broom is in the shop." Kotetsu was puzzled. Suddenly, he heard the sound of something dropping. Kotetsu hard it came from the steps of the house. When he looked he saw that the doorstep of the house… was a black cat. It stared at Kotetsu with its green eyes then looked down at the steps. On it was some kind of small box. Kotetsu takes a closer look at it and reads what is on it: "Salem's Spell: White Sage." Kotetsu wondered if the new neighbor dropped it. Wanting to be a good neighbor, Kotetsu picks it up.
"Thanks for picking it up," said a voice behind him. "I knew something like this would happen."
Kotetsu turns to see a man with messy dark brown hair, a thick beard, and brown eyes behind a pair of black square glasses. The man was also wearing a grey hoodie over a green shirt, brown pants, and shoes.
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry. I just saw this and I thought someone should pick it up before you forget."
"And I'm thankful for that," said the man, taking the box of incense from Kotetsu. "By the way, good evening, I'm your new neighbor… I'm Lupin Stone."
"Lupin Stone? That's an unusual name."
"People themselves can be unusual."
Kotetsu was just confused about what this strange man said. Then, the cat on the doorstep begins to meow.
"I know, Midnight, I'll open the door soon," said Lupin. "Sorry. Neither of us like the cold very much."
"Yeah," said Kotetsu. "I know it's now April, but it still feels like winter hasn't fully left yet."
"Give it a while. Spring will fully set soon,... Kotetsu."
"How did you know my name?" Kotetsu was surprised.
"It's simple really... I saw you on TV, Wild Tiger."
"Oh." Kotetsu almost forgot that everyone knows his secret identiy now.
"I also know about what happened. Is there any chance that..."
"I'm not sure. The only person I know who lost his powers was Mr. Legend, but he died before anyone could learn if they would return or not."
"I see. That's a shame."
"I know... But I'm not too sad. Had plenty of good times with the other heroes and I still see them... Especially Bunny. He's even helping me with a new business I started, Wild Tiger: Anything Consultation Office."
"Really? What a coincidence. I have just opened up a business of my own on the Silver Stage. I hope you'll come a check out Speak in Spells."
Kotetsu was a little confused about that name until Midnight started meowing even more.
"Sorry, I'm keeping you two," apologized Kotetsu.
"That's alright," said Lupin. "Well, I hope to see you again more often, Wild Tiger."
With a small smile, Lupin makes his way to his new home, carrying the last of his boxes and was gone.
"What a strange man," Kotetsu, smiling to himself. "But he seems like a nice guy. I wonder how someone like him would be like in a city full of heroes."
Kotetsu nods and returns home.
Lupin's P.O.V.
Meanwhile, inside my new house. I turn on the lights. I'm now inside a small apartment. After setting down the last of the boxes with my stuff, I reach into my pocket and take out a sheet of paper. I take a good long look at it.
Tumblr media
I look up from the lease to see... all my stuff already unpacked... Well, almost all of it.
"Damn," I said. "Even with magic, I'm still lazy."
I looks at the sofa where my familiar, Midnight a Jellicle Cat, was already sitting comfortably.
"It's your own fault," he said. "Was it not you who said that magic doesn't solve all problems?"
"I know," I groan. "Stung by what Merlin said."
"Well, you can finish unpacking by hand in the morning. It's almost the witching hour."
I check my phone. Sure enough, it was almost 3:00 AM.
"Alright," I said. "It's getting late and I've got a lot to do today."
I check my phone again and I groan in frustration. I had received 18 texts and 12 missed calls from my mother asking if I made it to Sternbild safe and sound. I guess it's understandable. I left the West Coast in such a huff after an argument with my family, especially my parents who wanted me to stay. My mother was crying and my father was yelling at the top of his lungs. But I left anyway.
"This is it," I said. "My first day on my own. I'll show them I can do it. I may still be a child on the inside, but I've got big ambitions."
And so, my life in Sternbild City begins.
Well, that's just about as much as I can do. I know it's not much, but I think I should try to keep this post as short as possible. Anyway, I hope you all like this story. This really makes me wish we had this V Residence things in America.
But I'm sure they will someday.
Let's believe HEROES
i think one of the main things i've had to re-examine in regards to salem is how she treats her subordinates, specifically in terms of when they fail / stop being useful to her.
because at first, the painted picture is that salem is... kinda ruthless. unforgiving. 'might as well prepare your coffin for the day you stop being useful' type of deal.
but... that's not it. salem is actually quite forgiving—she still dishes out punishments but she doesn't bring up anyone's failures just to remind them—and she's not petty enough to send someone to deal with no-longer-useful subordinates to tie up loose ends. she's so focused on her goal of gathering the relics that as long as she gets them, it doesn't matter how many of her orders were ignored or plans changed to achieve that goal.
and salem gives second chances. cinder has ignored how many orders, done her own thing, failed and disappointed salem, but as long as by the end of it she comes back with relics in tow, all of it is water under the bridge. watts got captured and salem made no plans to free him; but the moment he proved he was still useful, new plans were made to account for that.
all of this makes me also wonder how genuine the offer to raven was, that as long as she cooperated, all previous acts of defiance against salem were forgiven. of course in grand scheme of things it's a moot point because, well—cinder. but salem was very adamant to never underestimate the usefulness of others, so i doubt her plan was to slightly inconvenience cinder by making her work with someone she does not want to work with, just to let her have the maiden powers 15 minutes later.
unless it was like. teaching patience thing. who knows.
ANYWAY. i think it's nice. so many villains kill their subordinates over slightest failures to show how ~evil~ they are, so for salem to not do that is refreshing.
What if Salem had a friend, a fellow immortal (not Ozpin) who worried about her well being?
(Using a DND OC for this, though, not dnd related)
“Dont you think this is taking things a little too far?”
Salem sighed and stopped in her step as she looked around at the trees of the forest as she listened to the all familiar voice of an old friend. “And following me isnt?”
Casmos walked up next to Salem and gently took her hand. “That was the fourth village you’ve been run out of. Running away isnt going to fix anything-”
“I’m not trying to fix anything,” Salem interrupted as she started to walk again. “I’ve already lost the one I love and was cursed to walk this land until I can understand why I cannot be with him again. If moving from village to village is a price to pay when the villagers can no longer trust me, then so be it.”
“Then why cant you work with them and get them to trust you?”
“Because none of this matters!” Salem yelled out as she turned around, slicing the air with a blade of purple magic. “I have spent centuries wandering an empty world, finding humanity coming back on its own outside of the gods’ influences, and yet I’m still no closer to finding peace or getting back the one I loved! This… humanity is nothing more than a shadow of who we were. Incomplete and broken, and still following the gods that abandoned them long before they came to existence! If this humanity doesnt want me around with them, then I dont need them.”
Casmos flinched and pulled back. “That’s… that’s exactly why you need them though. Its why you keep me around right? Because you’re terrified of being alone? While I dont know exactly what you’ve been through, I know enough. Remember, the gods cursed me too.”
Salem calmed down for a moment as Casmos’ golden eyes nearly glowed in the light of the sun. Of course she hadnt forgotten she wasnt the only one cursed, though it was easy to ignore since Casmos could still blend in with this new humanity far easier. “I’m not afraid of being alone, I’m afraid of never seeing Ozma again. Not that you understand.”
“And what exactly do I not understand? What it means to love someone? To lose someone I can never get back? Do you even hear yourself?”
“He was everything to me!” Salem snapped, clenching her hand into a fist as tears started to roll down her cheeks. “He saved me, showed me a life we could’ve had together! All I wanted was for him to be back by my side and the gods denied me!”
Casmos sighed and wiped a tear from Salem’s cheek. “Then lets find a way to honor him. If the gods wont bring him back, then all we can do is find a way to do that. But running away from humanity isnt going to solve anything.”
“This humanity doesnt want me.” Salem took a breath to calm herself and sat down on a fallen log. “And if they dont want me, then I dont need them.”
“If they dont want you now, then why not show them how valuable you can be?”
“And how can I do that?”
“Grimm are becoming a problem around here. Why not find a village to protect?”
Salem wanted to argue, but stopped herself as she mulled over the idea. It was true that without the God of Darkness around, the grimm were running rampant, destroying anything that his brother had touched. A smile crossed her lips as she stood up again, almost renewed with a wonderful idea. “Why stop at a village?”
Casmos paused. “Because if we can get a village on your side-”
“We could protect a kingdom and rule this humanity as gods!”
“That’s… not exactly what I meant.”
“We have powers they could never imagine! We cant die, and we can protect them! Give them everything the gods couldnt give us!”
“Maybe we should think about this first.”
Salem started to make her way in the direction of the nearest kingdom. “We can make things right!”
Casmos let out a heavy sigh and followed after Salem, her steps starting to drag a bit as she walked. “And… there she goes again…” she muttered to herself under her breath. “Ambitious as always.”
Holding Hands
Ruby watched in the distance as everyone crowded around Oscar to ensure he was okay. After escaping from Salem's grasp using Long Memory, Yang, Jaune, Ren, and Oscar brought back themselves and Emerald, to everyone's surprise.
Yang had told the group that Oscar had proposed the idea, and they had trusted his judgment.
Ruby went in for a hug earlier but was taken by Emerald's presence and stopped herself from hugging him.
While everyone crowded around him, She sighed in relief, knowing he was okay.
"Let's get you to a bed so you can rest up. " Said Yang as she touched his shoulder.
Oscar slightly flinched in pain.
"Yeah, that might be for the best." He chuckled.
Ruby watched them pass her in the hallway and walk upstairs.
" You know you can go up there." Said a voice behind her.
Ruby turned around and saw Weiss standing behind her.
"Wha-what? " Asked Ruby in a confused tone, trying to feign ignorance.
" Listen... Your secret is safe with me." Said Weiss as she crossed her arms and turned back around to go down the hall where Nora was sleeping.
" I don't know what you are talking about it. " Mumbled Ruby as she inched farther away from Weiss and glanced down the hall to Oscar's room.
Ruby looked at the room in yearning and satisfaction. Finally, he was safe and alive. He had met Salem face to face, and he had stopped her all by himself. For now, Salem was gone, and they had time to prepare to save Atlas. In a way, she was relieved but slightly nervous.
He had grown fast and prepared himself for battle. Oscar was no longer the soft-spoken farm boy she had met in Haven. He was something more.
Something even she did not quite understand.
The hall of Schnee manor was empty. Everyone had left and went to catch up with their loved ones. Blake with Yang. Ren with Nora, leaving Weiss, Jaune, and the Schnee family to their own devices. Ruby paced herself and mustered up the courage as she walked to Oscar's room. As she got close, she spun around in a circle in disbelief, trying not to make a sound.
"Wh-What am I doing? " She muttered to herself.
"I can't go into his room. Hahaha." She said out loud.
She held herself tightly as she tried to cover her embarrassment and walked back down the hall. She walked until she recalled a memory.
Yes, how could she have forgotten? It wasn't strange for her to go to his room because HE had already initiated that sort of contact the first time they arrived in Atlas. Ruby recalled when he came to her room as she gazed in awe at her new clothes. He came to speak to her about her lie to Ironwood.
She was not uneasy back then.
She was full of confidence and felt secure, so why does she feel so insecure now?
What had changed from back then?
" No, everything is still the same."  She told herself as she turned back around and walked down the hall.
She opened his room door.
Oscar sat in bed with a book and a cup of tea. He didn't notice Ruby's presence until the door closed behind her. He quickly turned to look and saw Ruby standing in the doorway.
"Ruby..." He said.
"Oh.....uh....I .... How are you feeling?" She said nervously.
"Oh...I am okay. I am just resting for now, at least. After all, we are meeting later to discuss the plan to save Atlas, right? "He asked.
"Y-yes." She said.
Oscar looked at her in confusion as he noticed her nervousness.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yup." She said.
Oscar looked at her again.
" Okay...listen. I am just glad you are okay because I was so worried." She confessed as she ran closer to his bed.
Oscar slightly blushed at Ruby's confession.
"Haha...What am I even saying?" She said she started to grab her hair.
Oscar started to laugh.
" I am okay. If that is what you are wondering." He chuckled.
Ruby looked embarrassed as her face started to turn red. Oscar continued laughing as Ruby kneeled beside his bed and held his hand.
Instantly, Oscar became quiet as Ruby gently touched his hand.
"Ru-Ruby...?" He whispered as his eyes jolted back and forth to look at the door and then at Ruby on her knees.
" Please just let me enjoy this. " Whispered Ruby as she avoided eye contact with him.
Oscar's expression became serious as he looked down at Ruby's black hair.
" I missed you too." He said as he interlocked his fingers with hers.
Can we have some Salem facts? I Adore them
- He's a manlet! (at least compared to Belos) Like, pretty much around Hunter's height, just a few centimeters taller or so, like this drawing shows. So like, about 1,65/5'4"
Tumblr media
(still taller than me, though fjsjdnfnd)
- They're also pretty religious, which is a reason why they like going to the Knee, since its a very important place for witches to connect with the Titan. Which is another point of identity crisis and etc when he discovers that Belos might be lying about a lot
- I based his scars on Dell's, or at least the lineless ones. Those are all Belos related. I do actually have a post queued for either today or tomorrow that explains most of the ones he has on his arms.
He also doesnt really dwell or feel bad about his scars, at most theres just some annoyance about their hand tremors but even then they are managing it okay-ish
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- I have songs and colors that I associate with my GGs and on Salem's case it's Honey I'm Home by Ghost and their theme color is white/very light grey
- They're very blunt and go on a bunch of thought tangents, which makes it fun to write from their pov. But theyre not very introspective and doesnt question much if they dont have a reason to.
- The way I see his not that great behaviour is cruelty and indifference for the ones he's harming most of the time, and distancing himself from the actual harm he's doing. i didn't want to make them very over the top cartoonish evil or anything very quick to spot.
He's cruel in the way people who seem nice are, hidden and excused by well meaning pretendes, which is quite hard to illustrate, i don't actually draw much exploration of them in their own little story besides near their death because of it and also because contrary to Cain, Salem doesnt really have anyone for me to work him with besides Belos and like, random scouts. And i also haven't drawn much of that because Im still figuring out what exactly he has done.
This is all very rough still. A lot can change
(they do believe they are doing the right thing but that also coexists with them not feeling much remorse when they are intentionally and knowingly cruel)
- Ironically they are very squeamish about death and etc. Kind of a Robespierre kind of deal, if I am getting things right about that. Executing this from a distance for most of the time. I have been wondering if they would have a nickname like The Golden Fist or something like that.
-Maybe if he lived longer he would have had a big change of heart and stop being so blindly obedient and would try to help people instead of hurting them. That would have him killed too though. Just later than when it actually happened.
- He was one of Belos' favorite grimwalkers, so much so that he is actually on the GG mind graveyard, which was where i took inspiration for their hair when it isnt in a bun
Tumblr media
- As far as how close they look to Caleb, theyre actually like, third in closest resemblance. In second place theres Orien and then in first its Hunter.
- His whole story and not so great personality were not actually with him from the start. When i made them, they were basically just a design and name, and slowly i added them discovering about grimwalkers being what ends up making them "betray" Belos, and they were actually nice, but i had been looking at some posts about how not all grimwalkers must have been nice people and I wanted to make at least one of mine like that and they were the most interesting one for me to do that.
Him not being nice was decided after i made that whole sheet/reference post about the basics about him.
I didn't think id have much to say about them but apparently i do gjdjfjf. I know that i draw him a lot but its usually just mindless sitties or outfit drawings, not really exploring his character like I do with Cain. Hope you liked these Salem facts!
Visiting Sheena: Non-stop smiles, laughs, acid trip, a wonderful group of welcoming women, and camping in the beautiful outdoors!
Tumblr media
I flew up to visit Sheena in Oregon! Finally got some camping/outdoor time in and it was awesome. Having the means to take a last-minute trip and enjoy the excitement of plane travel again has given me the bug again. For so long I felt stuck, in more ways than one, and the trip up to see Sheena and meet all of her incredible circle of women friends was the perfect welcome back into what I hope will be even more trips to come.
Adelle dropped me off at the airport, and I was flying out of San Diego before noon. The airport situation was easy, except I got tired of not having a bag on wheels QUICK! I had to take my bigger duffel bag since I was taking more of my camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, etc.)
On the plane, I was seated next to this older, gray-haired woman, and she was as sweet as can be. She was also a VAL! She lives in Salem, OR, so she was just visiting San Diego and I can’t remember who she was visiting but I recall her saying how much she loved Chula Vista. She also kept telling me that I was going to do all the greatest things in life that I wanted and that I should make the most of life. It was sweet to hear that encouragement, I assured her I’d do my best to do all the things I wanted to do in my young life while I was still able to, and that I’d continue to be diligent about wearing my earplugs in loud settings! Haha.
I landed in Oregon around 2 and Sheena picked me up.
From there we went straight to the grocery store, Fred Meyer, to pick up my contributions of food for the group share. We stopped for McDonald’s before making the drive out. Yummm. The drive out to our campsite at Lake Timothy in the Mt Hood area wasn’t bad at all, about 2 hours only. Goes without saying but it was just stunning up there. Plush and green!
Sheena caught me up on what’s been going on with her. She had actually just broken up with her boyfriend Steve the day before 💔 Sucks.
I’m so inspired by her though. Her level of self-work, emotional maturity, and comfort with navigating conflict is incredible. I’m sure having a therapist has helped a ton. I really need to seriously think about getting on the therapist train. I only ever hear great things.
Anyway. When we arrived at our campground, we settled into our campsite, a nice big corner spot right next to the bathrooms! Also, the campground was not even a month old yet, so the bathrooms actually smelled good, and the floors were clean, UNHEARD of. It was great. We set up our tents, unloaded, had the music going, and waited for her friends to start arriving.
Pictured above is the group of us. In order from left to right are Annabelle, Rebecca, Monica, Me, Liz, Patty, and Sheena. The dog pictured is Stacey, Rebecca’s dog, and somewhere on the ground not seen is Liz’s dog, Frida, as in Frida Khalo.
I felt immediately comfortable around each and every one of her friends. Everyone was so genuine, kind, funny, smart, and just had such depth to them. She has really cultivated a strong circle. I would like to expand my circle of trusted friends into something that resembles what she has.
The level of openness. It was nice to be able to reconnect with Sheena again in this way. She is my favorite person to enjoy the outdoors with and I owe a lot of the trips I have experienced in my life to her, for coordinating and making them happen. I miss that so much.
After this trip, I am definitely looking forward to taking more trips up to see her and doing more in that area.
On Saturday, we all did acid! 🙈 Sheena and I did a full tab, and the other girls all did a half tab, except Liz, who did a half of a half, haha! The trip was amazing, I couldn’t stop smiling, and I always laugh a ton when I trip with Sheena. She gets the giggles like no one else I’ve seen, it’s pretty hilarious.
We spent that day walking the trails around the lake, hung our hammocks up, and just enjoyed the views and each other’s company.
Tumblr media
There was only one moment for about 40 minutes where my trip got so intense that I felt like I was moving in slow motion, and seeing everything move in slow motion.
The photos Sheena took somehow got warped and they just so happened to perfectly reflect what I was seeing there for a while.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was really HOT too which I don’t do well in the heat while tripping, so that was giving me some anxious feelings.
Also on Saturday, thick smoke from some fires elsewhere in the state or neighboring states rolled in and thoroughly ruined our view of Mt. Hood. It was also pretty smelly! Owell! That’s the PNW for you.
While still tripping, we all took the walk back to our campsite to regroup, try to eat, drink, and then head down to the lake to chill, and put our toes in the water. I stayed ashore and let my trip fizzle out, while all the girls except Annabelle took their floats out onto the water. That’s when I saw this adventure cat!!
Tumblr media
So cute!
After our dusk time at the lake, we all went back to camp to transition into the night. Liz brought a game that included a bunch of cards that had different prompts of various depths geared toward getting to know one another. That was such a cool thing to bring to a camping trip. I would love to do that again. I need to ask Sheena to get that deck info for me so I can have that on hand. We all spent the rest of the night chatting, munching, and listening to music before it got too cold to stay up any longer (campfire ban for obvious reasons).
All in all, I enjoyed the trip so much and although it went by in the blink of an eye, we made the most of it and I can’t wait for the next one!
Didn't take long for Lilith's new review of Fixing RWBY's latest episode. She still lies, but guys
She's getting better.
I know, no one is more shocked than we that Lilith is somewhat starting to understand the concept of criticism and critique. Slow but steady, she is making progress. Everyone, let's cheer her on. Maybe someday she can achieve decent human being status. I was actually getting bored and thinking of stopping after this one with nothing to really respond to other than 'she's outright lying about what happens' but she's actually engaging again. You know, saving up whatever little scraps of points she makes and make a big master post of whatever she had to talk about.
It's honestly refreshed me a little, because there's stuff to actually bite into with this that can be talked about and discussed. Of course, we all know that Lilith doesn't want a conversation. She takes the first opportunity possible to block someone for disagreeing with her to the point where I wonder why she bothers engaging with anything at all.
Tumblr media
Imagine thinking that RWBY: Fairy Tales' framing device was unique.
Actually, I'd say that last week's episode and Fairy Tales isn't really anything alike because apart from Taiyang fixing the story he reads to Ruby up like he's talking about himself and Summer, there's little connection. As far as I'm aware, there's no deeper thematic reasons why the characters are chosen the way they are, nor are the stories being read to them meant to be connected. It's implied Ozpin modifies a story that already exists in order to cater to his needs to warn about Salem.
Either way, I don't understand how this is a criticism. Why is it a bad thing that he used a rather common visual aide when regarding fairy tales? Even if he did just 'steal' it from the side story episodes, why is it a bad thing? Taking inspiration does not make you a bad writer. Lilith herself writes Glints Saga with inspiration from proper magical girl anime in mind. Should anyone be considered legitimate to call her a hack writer because she's taken inspiration from these stories to the point that her writing feels generic?
I wouldn't think so, and I'd defend Lilith if anyone tried that. But Lilith doesn't
Tumblr media
An Asian character who has aspects of different Asian real world cultures given to her fictional culture is cultural appropriation. You know what, guys? She's right. We should just tell all the book publishers and script writers out there to just stop trying to write other cultures. Anyone, even people who belong to that culture, needs to just stop. They can only write vague modern Euro-American cultures and appropriate them into fictional settings otherwise it's bad.
I shouldn't have to explain much further why this is stupid. Also, you gotta love how she claims that Vernal is Raymond's "daughteru" despite saying once that she hates anime tropes, yet will not hesitate to use words that come from anime culture at the drop of a hat as long as it shits on a person she hates. Plus ignoring or erasing the women who designed Vernal all by themselves who are more attached to Vernal than Raymond is. Like Mupa.
A lot of Fixing's Vernal was created by Mupa. She's much more Mupa's daughteru than she is Raymond's. But, you know, it's par for the course with Lilith to ignore anything a woman does as long as she can complain about a man. She claims she doesn't hate men, but man, when you ignore a woman's contribution to a project just so you can focus your hatred on a man, that's something special right there.
But the SH barely get any note from Lilith at all. They're treated like they're slaves under Raymond when they practically take over the project from him. So much work and personal touches go into everything the artists do that Raymond has not a whole lot of say in other than final approvals, and even then, I believe it's more a group approval.
Beside that, she said that last week's episode Vernal got more focus than the titular heroines. Since when? Vernal got two scenes, one of which she was a gravestone in the background. I suppose it makes sense that things that are in the background are focused on with Lilith. I mean, she likes canon Team RWBY and they're in the background a lot so she's trained to look here lol
Tumblr media
What does what other critics say have anything to do with what Raymond and the SH say? Why bring up Volumes 7&8 at all when this season of Fixing is about Volume 6?
Besides, Lilith is the one that dismisses anything that Team RWBY does that's remotely bad and scream misogyny. That's her whole schtick as a one-trick pony.
But I do commend her in that she does bring up something that she thinks is a problem with the "critics" community, even if it has no place here. After all, we had entire episodes dedicated to the girls of Team RWBY being the central focus of the story and Lilith dismisses that and ignores it and claims that because Roman had three minutes of screentime in a 20 minute story that he was the main character. So her criticism here isn't valid, and only highlights that she's desperately grasping at straws due to her incessant need to 'criticize the critics' as though she's giving us a taste of our own medicine.
But for her to do that she actually has to understand what criticism is in the first place. By her behaviour and the people she interacts with, it's not that illogical to say that she genuinely believes that criticism is being mean for the sake of being mean. So she's being some sort of hero to the RWBY community by being mean back to the meanies. Like she's on a playground for toddlers beating on some schoolyard bullies. She paints everyone she disagrees with as a hivemind, which is why she brings up unrelated criticisms by unrelated people for unrelated slights.
The easiest way to debunk a claim that someone has is to point out the flaws of their logic with actual examples of the show. Most people don't do this whenever I see people talk in opposition to it. Or they just point out the characters having existed in the same space at the same time as something happening as evidence that they are important. But Lilith doesn't do this. She just says 'nuh-uh' and moves on. Because that's what criticism is, a back and forth with (hopefully) points being brought up using examples from the show to prove the point one is trying to make.
What makes Lilith's criticisms invalid is that she has to purposefully lie in order to actually criticize anything about Fixing RWBY. If she actually stopped being such a cringy child and laid out her points properly they can be addressed. But the only thing she ever does is scream and capslock and cry buzzwords thinking that baseless accusations are the same as criticism.
Tumblr media
JNR still got an episode in canon that did the exact same thing that this episode of Fixing does. A lot of people criticized that episode for focusing on Jaune when it should have focused on Oscar. People criticized the show for being mysterious about the redheaded woman as though it was one big mystery and the show treated her like she was a ghost, disappearing out of sight after looking away for only a moment. The writers wanted you to leave it up to your interpretation and Raymond thought that was stupid when it is so clearly Pyrrha's mother.
Personally I joke if RT is gonna jerk people around like that and say 'I'll leave it up to your interpretation' that the redheaded woman is a Buffalo Bill-style superfan who got plastic surgery to look like the object of her obsession lol
Because if you're gonna be cute with something that unnecessary I might as well have fun with the challenge. I'm sure RT approves because they're like that.
Tumblr media
It's only been 8 episodes, girl needs to chill. But she's been saying that she doesn't think we'll be going to Brunswick Farms since last volume because she desperately wants it to be true.
Honestly, I have heard a couple of other people say this point, so I think it's a fair 'fear' to have. But I'm not sure where people get the idea that just because we saw the flashback of Remus on Brunswick Farms that means Brunswick has already been done. Did Lilith and the like forget that when RWBY got there that the people were already long dead and gone? Fixing just establishes how long ago that was. We're heading to Brunswick in the next few episodes and considering V6 is going to have 20-22 episodes like the other volumes of Fixing, we're probably going to spend a fair few of them at Brunswick. I don't know, I thought that was obvious.
Also another reference to Roman being the main character because Lilith desperately wants that to actually be the case. Roman is secretly her favourite character, she is just too stubborn to admit it so she has to give off this mask that she actually hates him. Like she brings it up so much.
Tumblr media
I think this is a fair thing to raise up. It could be answered with a simple: People are still scared, and just because they're out of danger doesn't change that. They could have died, and half their train got derailed. Based on the drawings, some of the passengers look to be in shock, one is clearly injured, one is an old woman. Plus it's kind of Cardin's job. He's paid to look after the passengers until after they get off the train. The rest of the passengers are getting off the train fine, so it's assumed they're helping who needs to be helped.
Focus goes to Cardin, who is employed by the train, for like two seconds. But Lilith never misses an opportunity to focus on men existing in any capacity for any amount of time. Especially if it's her beloved Roman or Cardinposting. Jaune asks about the Atlas base, which Cardin answers, but Lilith forgot that or something. Who cares it's two men talking. Ignore the women, complain about men. That's what Lilith does.
Lilith says Cardin shouldn't care about his teammate.
Tumblr media
I gotta ask why Lilith even cares. She ignores anything the heroines do in Fixing. Even if it were true that Fixing outright ignores the heroines. But typical Lilith fashion, it's not.
Cardin says he requested a scouting party to look for the missing train, then he's going to search for Russell. Nora asks about Team RWBY and Jaune tells Nora, not Cardin, to not worry because he trusts Team RWBY's strength as huntresses. The same can't be said for Lilith, I guess. Does she think the girls need to be rescued? It's not like canon JNR sent a search party either. They got zero focus until RWBY+OQM got to Argus and canon JNR were nonplussed about them. So canon JNR knew RWBY would be okay, whether they cared much or not. It's fine for Fixing to not only do the same but for JNR to actually acknowledge it. It's a non-issue.
Also, I thought Roman was the self-insert, not Cardin. Make up your mind, Lilyboo.
Tumblr media
"Roman's faithful servant". Look at how Lilith treats female characters. She ignores anything the main female cast do and she belittles Neo by saying something as derogatory as that. She calls Vernal 'Raymond's daughteru' and ignores the female contribution to Fixing. For someone who claims to be all about female characters and women, she sure does not treat women very well at all.
I also find it very fascinating how much we get into Lilith's insight into what she really thinks about RWBY by reacting to Fixing. She thought Cinder's interactions with Lil' Miss was boring in canon because she calls it 'prattling'. Methinks she's upset that Neo doesn't fight Cinder in this scene because she doesn't want to admit it's the only thing she liked about it. It's okay to only like RWBY for the fight scenes. The writing doesn't help make it interesting otherwise.
She didn't complain about anything else about the scene, so I assume she liked it.
Tumblr media
She's complaining about the fact that Jaune, Nora and Ren aren't following Saphron into the grocery store to grab a single box of nuggets.
No one said they couldn't go into the store, but there's no reason to. She told them about a coffee shop, hinting that because of the incident at Beacon that prices are going up. What would they do at the grocery store, follow her around as she rushes to get nuggies and then take up space in line? They aren't customers, so they'd be loitering.
Tumblr media
You mean now she's not the only focus like she's the only one who died. Remember, in Fixing a lot of people died during the Fall of Beacon. It was a real event. And the memorial got changed from a rather tasteless statue of one girl meant to manipulatively tug at the viewer's heartstrings into a memorial honouring everyone who died equally. Like in real life. Because this mural was based on one that exists in real life in Australia. JayJay and I actually talked about it earlier. It's based on the Australian war memorial in Canberra. So Lilith effectively is shitting on the concept of memorializing people who died who aren't just a main character, acting as if one person is important isn't stupid. If Pyrrha was the only one that died, fine. But it's never established in canon, from my recollection that Pyrrha is the only one who died. But Fixing is not canon and it changes to reflect previous changes that were set up.
She's "just" a name on a wall. How disrespectful to actual memorials around the world who honour more than one person this way.
Bad form, Peter.
Tumblr media
She admits it. She admits it's not actually a trainwreck! Pack it up people she outed herself! Fun's over the troll exposed herself with a better twist ending than Hogwarts School of Prayer and Miracles!
I kid, of course, but I already discussed this.
Tumblr media
It's all about Jaune. Iiiinteresting. There's no issue with Nora or Ren being in pain of their teammate having died. No, Pyrrha's death is all about Jaune, and Nora and Ren's only part in the story should be about how they should cater to Jaune and his feelings and Lilith is surprisingly okay with that. No, Lilith doesn't care about Nora, either, I suppose. If she doesn't think that Nora's guilt over how their fight didn't end before Pyrrha's death didn't get resolved means she gets focus, too. Lilith doesn't want that, though. How dare Nora or Ren grieve over Pyrrha, she only existed for Jaune.
Also, like, she thinks that one episode should encompass Jaune's entire grieving process related to Pyrrha and suddenly he should be okay with everything. After episode 8. Remember, there's at least 12 episodes left, and Helen made it clear we're going to be seeing her again. Lilith is really itching but she keeps getting blueballed because it doesn't resolve quickly enough. Maybe that's why she dislikes Fixing.
Tumblr media
Lilith thinks that scenes have to start something, and then end it or else it's bad. It's a very childish way of looking at story writing, but I'm sure she'll have a very successful career writing shows for Treehouse TV or something. Toddlers will probably enjoy her work.
Tumblr media
Plugging your ears and closing your eyes means that nothing happens.
Also, Lilith, be a dear and tell us when Cardin has abused anyone in the last 4 volumes of Fixing. Otherwise, he's not an abuser. Because he, like many of the other characters in Fixing, have gone through character arcs to become better people. I know, I know, it's the worst when characters actually have depth to them, but that's the price you pay for good writing.
You know, for as much as Lilith thinks that she's mimicking RWDE and other 'critics' of RWBY, she doesn't comprehend how to actually do it. I get there's probably people in the fandom who have said bad takes, or don't know how to argue their points well, but Lilith really feels the need to mimic those people and act like she's mocking those that actually make good, well thought out arguments from a place of knowledge.
She doesn't say how anything that happened in this episode invalidates plotlines and character growth that can happen. She's just preemptively blowing her proverbial load as usual, and all that's coming out is hot air. Lilith is bloated with hot air bigger than Violet Beauregarde when she was at full blueberry. Sadly, there's no method outside of fiction to juice her.
Now, before I go I actually wanted to say one final thing for those who are interested in my talking about critique and writing. Critique, criticism and especially 'fixing' things is not new, nor is it unique to the RWBY fandom. It's something that is common in writing circles, and becoming more common in other areas as well.
To show how very much not unique to RWBY this is, here's a bunch of videos I liked for various reasons pertaining to critique and to fixing stories. Highly recommend Unresolved Textual Tension, they're a favourite. And of course Krimsonrogue.
