hello Mira dear, could you write a Luz x gn!reader; reader-insert based on Pocket of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield, please ?

(Obviously there is cannon divergence. Did my best to make the plot fit the song/show though. So sorry this took so long!!! It got buried in my drafts! Also I always do gender neutral reader :D)

Luz walks through the Owl Ladies door to the Demon Realm. As she looks around the place she is unsure but slowly gains confidence.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine

She has a hop in her step and looks excited at the fantastical world. It's different from anything she's ever known but not in a bad way.

I got a love and I know that it's all mine, oh, oh-oh

She makes eye contact with you at Edas stand before Eda ends up running off with her to avoid capture from the Emperor Covens Guards. She loses your face in the crowd but remembers your eyes.

Do what you want but you're never gonna break me

Luz hours later stands in the Conformitorium ready to defend her new friends and get King his crown back.

Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me, oh, oh-oh

Holding Edas palismen determined Luz stares up at Warden Wrath ready for a fight. She will not stand down.

You swoop in on your palismen staff with a cape and mask to save Eda, King, and Luz. The other prisoners have already escaped thanks to your help.

A secret place (A secret place)

Hitting Warden Wrath with a fire blast you all escape together laughing as you do so. You fly through the woods weaving in and out of trees quickly so the guards can't capture you.

A sweet escape (A sweet escape)

Luz makes eye contact with you as you escape and pauses recognizing your eyes. You send her a smile over your shoulder and she knows it's you. Her arms wrap around your waist as you take off through the woods towards the Owlhouse.

She leans her head against your shoulder and as you land infront of Edas home she makes up her mind to stay and become a witch like you and Eda!

You show up at the Owlhouse the next day to help Luz with her witch training. Eda smiles at the both of you ready to teach.

Luz's face scrunches up as she sees Eda digging through a large pile of garbage for human stuff to sell. You chuckle and bump her shoulder before going to help her find something.

Minutes later you grab Luzes hand after she's gifted a seed from Eda. She follows you as you lead her away into the woods.

Hiding in the bushes deep in the woods you smile at Luz and cast a spell circle to show her why she's learning what she's learning from the Owl Lady. Her eyes sparkle as she stares at you and your magic.

You sneak Luz off to Hexside with Willow so she can learn magic. You grab her hand excited to lead her there.

Luz stares at your joined hands before she blushes. She looks up at you who's excitedly talking about magic with Willow and how Luz will love your school. As her heart beats faster her face gets redder.

She looks down shyly and squeezes your hand tighter as you lead her into the magic school with Willow. Her eyes go wide as she stares at all the different coven flags and sees the various witches and demons milling about the hallways.

Do what you want but you're never gonna break me (Oh)

Amity corners Luz in a hallway when she gets seperated from you. She tells her she'll never be a real witch and how you only pity her. She needs to stay in her own lane and stop pretending to be a magic student/Abomination creature because your an actual witch, and a powerful one at that. You deserve better.

Luz then sees you run by the hall looking for her with a worried Willow and Gus. She clenches her fists before she remembers feeling your hand in hers.

She smiles at Amity and shrugs her off before leaving to find you. You and Luz hold hands again when she finds you. Abomination goop gets all over your hands but you laugh not caring.

Luz smiles at you as you take notes in class. She busily writes notes too but she has a little doodle of you on the corner of the page. (Maybe there's a heart next to said doodle)

Luz leans her head on you during lunch and smiles up at you with a dopey grin as you laugh at a joke Gus told. You share your lunch with her and she happily eats with all of you.

Willow and Gus give each other a smug look seeing Luz clearly has a crush on you. You seem oblivious but they have a plan to push you two together.

Wish that you could, but you ain't gonna own me

Amity is seething as she watches Luz and you interact. Boscha and Skara ask her what's wrong but she ignores them simply glaring at her food.

Do anything you can to control me, oh (You can't control me)

Amity tries to make Luz trip with abomination magic to embarrass her and keep her away from you, but Luz simply stumbles before you catch her with a smile. Holding her waist she loops her arms behind your neck and you blush at each other before laughing.

Amity angrily stalks off as you smile and laugh with Luz. Luz blushes before looking away her face a deep red again.

After school you and Luz ride home on your palismen together. You smile excitedly talking about her first day at Hexside and how eventful it was while she just stares at you in awe.

You go through the secret path in the woods that you always took to get to the Owlhouse. Holding your arms up and out, loose flowers and leaves fly off the trees leaving Luz to stare in wonder as petals fly around the both of you. You smile tilting your head back and yell out happy.

As your palismen speeds up Luz blushes and grabs your waist again worried about falling off. You look back and smile at her before taking one of her hands in your own. Holding it up you brush through the leaves and flowers together while she hangs onto you.

You take the long way so Luz can really see the Boiling Isles and get a sense of it since Eda hasn't really showed her anything in fear she'd get hurt. You pass massive towns and farm settlements, the castle looming in the distance.

Luz thinks of her time on Earth and realizes she wants to stay with you forever. She wants to explore all this strange world has to offer.

She reflects on how much fun she's had these last couple weeks with you and Eda and how even when Amity told her to stay away from you she knew she wouldn't and couldn't.

Leaning closer to you, you just smile at her seeming excited to just be alive. After your mini tour of the Isle's you head back to the Owlhouse.

As you land you help Luz get off your staff before you both run into the Owlhouse excited to tell Eda everything you'd learned that day. The Owl lady is amused by your antics and keeps Luze's first Wanted poster. You promise Luz you'll sneak her inside somehow.

There's a place that I go that nobody knows

The next day you take Luz to a hidden place in-between the Owlhouse and Hexside. It's where you study wild magic where no one will see or bother you for studying mixed magic.

Where the rivers flow and I call it home

You spin in the large cave space showing it off. You drag your hands through the multiple water falls that drip in the cave as you spin because here it wasn't Boiling water. Luz watches you with wide eyes because you look wild and free.

And there's no more lies

You place your bookbag down on a log you dragged out here as a makeshift desk and smile as you hand Luz your old training wand. She sees papers on the wall with notes as well as books on wild magic scattered about.

In the darkness there's light

Luz holds the wand before she uses it to practice her light spell. Little balls of light fill the cavern and you smile at her progress. The water reflects the light making the cave a paradise for just the two of you.

And nobody cries

You look at each other smiling before you begin to show Luz all your research and what your working on. Luz realizes she finally found somewhere she belongs. That you'd never commented on how she was weird or strange for wanting to learn magic depsite being a human.

There's only butterflies

As you look at each other and smile ready to start a magic lesson her stomach erupts in butterflies.

Luz smiles as she holds onto your waist again. Your taking her back to the Owlhouse and she's lost in thought.

She thinks about the cave you just took her too and how you trusted her to see something so personal and private. How you not only trusted her enough to share it with her but show her.

She remembers that first day with you at Hexside. How she learned so much and got to spend the day with you and your amazing friends. How it was different than school back home.

She clings to your waist tighter smiling into your shoulder as you fly her home to the Owlhouse.

You take Luz to a Witches Convention so she can see the Emperor's Coven. Eda scoffs but you tell her you want to join so you can master all the different types of magic. You even take special classes at Hexside thanks to Bump who supports your ambition's.

While King runs around getting free stuff or "offerings" you find Edas sister Lilith. Striking up a conversation with her your unaware of Amity's cruel behavior towards King and Luz and how she mocks them. Lilith admits she has been watching your progress at Hexside and is impressed.

Take me away

Somehow Luz and Amity get into a witches duel while you were talking with Lilith. She suggests you take Amity's place knowing you're stronger but you refuse to fight Luz much to the witches disappointment. Amity seems dead set on winning (because she wants to impress her future mentor and you) worrying you.

(Take me away)

Lilith states you will have other chances to prove yourself to the coven and has you stand next to her to watch the match. You give Luz an apologetic look. Eda boomy traps the arena so Luz will win as she only knows the light spell which isn't meant for fighting. When Amity is about to hurt Luz you disappear from Lilith's side and swoop in as your wild witch persona to save her. Despite your best efforts you get separated during the fight because of Eda and Lilith's magic once they start dueling.

It's revealed to you after the fight that Lilith cheated like Eda leaving you surpised. You go home with Eda, Luz, and King in your wild witch persona. Eda notices the Emperor's Coven pamphlet in your hand that Lilith left with her number on it and offers for you to join the Bad Girls Coven instead. You chuckle and tuck the pamphlet away. You tell Luz no matter what Amity said she's a real witch and she doesn't need traditional magic for that to be true.

Luz wants to try out for HexSide and you're excited for her to join you at school officially. You, Eda, and her go on an adventure to teach her more about magic so she can join you in the more advanced classes. She leans against you smiling softly as you fly to the Knees where it's freezing to see ice magic.

You bump into Amity and the twins while training. Edric and Emira are happy to see you and Luz while Amity seems flustered at the both of you. You notice her and Luz are getting along better and are happy to see it. Luz gets embarrassed by Edas teaching while you smile excited to learn from the wild witch even if her teachings are eccentric.

You get captured by the Ice Beast and Amity Is unable to help as Luz used up all her wands power. Luz grabs your hand but you get dragged away with Eda before she can help. When her and Amity team up they're able to save everyone. You're glad to see them getting along as you make your getaway from the creatures' lair. You're so proud of Luz for discovering another Glyph.

Since Luz has learned a new Glyph she will be joining you in the more advanced classes. You're so excited for her to be unbanned from Hexside so she can start learning.

The First Day of Hexside is full of adventure. This time she doesn't have to hide as an abomination. She looks at your joined hands as you run through the school to where Bump is waiting. She stares down at you intertwined hands and smiles.

You cheer her on as she tries out for Principal Bump. It's terrible but he assures her he's seen worse and decides she can join Hexside as an official student. She however, will not be joining you in your more advanced classes.

Take me away

As she's separated from you she goes through a whole day of shenanigans and problems. Going from Potions, to Oracle, to Illusions, only to end up in the detention track. When Viney introduces her to the other detention track members and shows her how they learn multiple tracks Luz pauses as she watches you learning multiple types of magic and wonders how that's fair.

(Take me away)

She then has a falling out with her new friends and doesn't know what to do as she wonders the halls of Hexside searching for answers. You, Amity, and Principal Bump get attacked by a Basilisk before being dragged away and Luz wants to help but doesn't know how. She begs her new friends to help her save you and they all use their mixed magic knowledge to save the school and defeat the Basilisk.

As she's blessed with being able to do the multi track schedule she wants her other friends are also allowed to do multiple tracks. Luz is overjoyed as she picks you up and twirls you around in her new uniform. You leave school to run off to your hidden hideaway to practice your new magic knowledge and compare schedules.

Luz who is now a full time student at Hexside and is in some of Willow and your classes. Working with the Illusion teacher you are pulling out old memories from your brain and printing them on memory paper. Guiding Luze's hand carefully she's amazed as she sees Willows memories become solidified on paper.

After Amity burns Willow's memories to keep her past with her a secret you're left shaking and upset. You grab your palismen and take Amity, Willow, Gus, and Luz to the Owlhouse skipping the rest of the day to help your friend. Amity is guilt ridden at her mistake but is also surprised by Edas home curiously looking around. You beg Eda to do the needed spell to go into Willows mind despite the illegality and risk and with Amity and Luz your prepared to fix the mistake that's been made.

You smile sadly as you see Willow, Amity, and you playing together as children. Luz looks at it confused and you smile at her as you try and hold back tears. Your initial flying in the wind with an A and W on a little white flag. Things had been different back then when you were all younger. Amity never had to stop talking to you as you'd always been a powerful witch but she had to break it off with Willow. When it came down to Willow or Amity you chose Willow.

Leading Luz through Willows mindscape she sees various memories of her best friend. Amity drags behind but is eventually pulled into the nostalgia as she helps fix Willow's mind. She seems happy to be here but there's also a deep sadness you can't help but sense. Luz tries to keep the mood light much to your relief.

Seeing a memory of Gus and Willow conspiring to get you and Luz to go on a date you both blush before looking at your joined hands. Looking away from each other flustered you don't have time to dwell on it as pink fire surrounds you. Running all of you barely escape the memory as it starts to burn.

The inner Willow reveals herself and begins to burn the memories you'd worked hard to fix. You beg her to reconsider and she briefly pauses before gently pushing you away. Sending Luz and Amity into one of her most painful memories you follow hoping to help.

After the fight plays out you feel Luz grab your hand. Your shaking as you stand infront of Amity and Inner Willow looks at you betrayed as she demands why she should forgive Amity. You walk up to her and take her hands which surprises the flaming witch. She calms down enough to let Amity explain what really happened. You give inner Willow a hug apologizing for never noticing her pain and she says it's okay as you all wake up. Before you leave you see Inner Willow with her Inner child both waving happily as you go.

When you wake up outside of her mind you hug Willow for real who hugs you back. Luz joins the hug and you're both glad she's okay. Amity is not forgiven but the mistake is amended and you become closer. You all learned something about each other that day.

The sun is on my side

Luz learns about Grom and although she's super nervous because she wants to ask you she's excited to go. You and Amity end up tying for Grom Royalty which means you'll have to face the monster which turns into what you fear most. Luz decides this is her chance to shine and offers to fight the Grom beast for you.

And takes me for a ride

When faced with her worst fear (her mother forcing her to come home and thinking she's a terrible daughter and being rejected by you) she ends up trying to defeat it only to end up running. Chasing after her on your palismen not letting her fight this alone Luz is terrified as you both fly somewhere remote to fight this thing.

I smile up to the sky

You smile at her and she smiles back as you begin to put all that magic practice to good use. Dancing together she uses glyphs while you use spell circles to defeat the beast. A beautiful tree blooms trapping the Grom Beast and she's reminded of that time you took her through the woods and flowers flew everywhere. She looks at you watching the petals flutter around you both. With the moon in the background and petals floating about, your face is glowing and her heart flutters as she holds your hands.

I know I'll be alright

You and Luz gently bop your heads against each other and laugh before smiling. You had defeated the Grom Beast and faced your worst fears. She hasn't kissed you yet but slowly she's working up the courage.

The sun is on my side

As Luz tries to save Eda from her sister Lilith you go with her deciding that you are no longer interested in the Emperor's Coven. As you and Luz face the Emperor together (you with the portal key and her with the portal) he says your name despite being in your wild witch costume. He holds out his hand offering you one last chance and your eyes widen realizing your dream is crumbling around you. Turning back you see Luz and realize you have a new dream.

Smashing your staff into the ground distracting the Emperor as Luz tosses him the booby trapped door, you and Luz take off for Eda, Lilith, and King. Breaking the Petrification machine the sun sets as Eda, Lilith, King, Luz, and you fly away from the Emperor's Castle. The Petrification having failed.

And takes me for a ride

As you fly on Eda you can't help but let out a laugh. Everyone turns to look at you and your wiping at your eyes smiling. Tilting your head up you scream into the night because despite everything you had survived and Eda was okay even if she was in the Owlbeast form. Luz remembers the first time riding with you on your palismen and throws her arms up to yell too. You had lost but you'd also won.

I smile up to the sky

Jumping off Eda when she lands you turn to see Lilith sliding off her sisters back and putting her face to Edas. You hold out your hand to Luz as the sisters do the Sharing spell. The bright flash of light makes you smile as you look up at the Light glyph in the sky.

I know I'll be alright

You hold out your hand and hold Luz close. Your mask in the fight had been thrown aside and your cape had been torn and yet as you held her hand after what you'd all just been through she could only think about how beautiful you are and how you'll figure it out.

You cup her face and she pauses before your lips meet for your first kiss. It'd be alright...
