The thing about Paul is that his dislike for musicals is totally normal.
He doesn't hate them. He just doesn't like them. He doesn't get them which is totally normal. Most of the people I know don't like musicals. He's just some normal guy.
Yet the hive makes it look like it's an unforgivable crime. What an ass! What a bitch! What a cuck!
The hive makes Paul into some kind of Orwellian level of public enemy number one. He's the worst because he won't sing. It's the end of the world, Paul, if you don't sing! It acts like he's the only one who's refusing the apotheosis, while Emma is doing exactly the same!
The whole intro is like a hate chant dedicated to Paul that's also stating that he must learn. He won't like this but it's crucial. Maybe because if the hive can rehabilitate him, the ultimate musical hater, it can save everyone?

for the electric dreams remake, all i care about is that edgar has the most obnoxious early 2000s internet aesthetic possible. i repeat, THE MOST OBNOXIOUS. 2 billion blinkies, terrible gradients, bad contrast, absolutely unreadable bullshit. if modern tech minimalism comes anywhere near that entire movie i’m going to throw up

it chapter two-esque scenario where they all have to meet back up because a gates opened except now the party are like mid thirties and billy and steve have to deal with this weird animosity they’ve got going on because the two of them were hooking up back in school until feelings got involved and it ended badly and billy just upped and left one day but they’re still pining for each other and steve’s divorce just got finalised and billy’s never really dealt with any of his issues and everything sucks until they kiss about it. & then maybe it gets tragic again you know how it is

do you think marty is a real ladies man or was he lucky to get jennifer to go out with him?
No, I do not think Marty is a ladies' man. I think he won Jen's heart by being his sweet, clumsy, dorky self.
I actually kind of like the way it's told in the comics, with Marty going to Doc for advice on how to get Jennifer to like him. It's clear that Marty certainly doesn't think of himself as anything close to a suave ladies' man, and he asks Doc, "What's a girl like Jennifer gonna see in a guy like me?" To which they have this exchange:
I cannot tell you how much I love Marty asking, "I do cool stuff, right, Doc?" That is so Marty. He would go to Doc, all insecure and nervous, and ask, "Hey, I'm cool, right, Doc? I can be cool. I do cool things sometimes. Right?? Please say yes."
Anyway, yeah, Marty ends up ultimately winning Jennifer's heart when she runs into him at 7/11 while he's wrapped up in a game of Wild Gunman and pretending to be Clint Eastwood. Turns out she likes Clint Eastwood too, and he eventually works up the courage to ask her to a movie. It's all very sweet.
In conclusion, I think Marty spent a good long while nearly giving himself hives from the stress of trying to figure out how to get Jen to like him, and ultimately all it took was him talking to himself while playing a video game to win Jen over. Which sounds about right if you ask me.
Thanks for the ask!

okay but does anyone listen to bronski beat and does anyone GET IT. they released an album, completely unashamedly gay, in the 80s, during the AIDS crisis, during a time of insanely rampant homophobia and over the top conservatism. they released an album with the age of consent for homosexual activity in every european country listed on the sleeve and the phone number for a legal advice hotline for queer people etched into the grooves of the vinyl. they released an album with the opening track dedicated to a hate crime victim, featuring vocals from an openly gay choir. they released an album with songs about homophobic violence, the dangers of following the bible too closely, about leaving behind everything you know and starting over, about homophobic family and homophobic bullying. they wrote about being gay and being proud of it and knowing that there is nothing wrong with who you are. in the face of all the hatred going on in the 80s they released an album that was in-your-face gay and fuck-you queer, and i love them for it.

It's really funny how the last two movies have such great toxic gay relationship subtext to them
Andy and Miranda's manipulation filled relationship but Andy eventually seeing the humanity in Miranda. Miranda secretly appreciating Andy despite using her whenever she sees fit. "She said you were 'my greatest disappointment' and I'd be an idiot not to hire you."
Mozart and Salieri's unbalanced relationship of like... dependence, love admiration, and hate. Salieri seeing Mozart as god, admiring him, worshiping him, then scorning him. Seeking to destroy the god he worships, yet is in love with him at the same time. All while Motzart, unknowing of Salieri's manipulations yet victim to it all the same looks up to him, when all doors were closed on him, he could still turn to Saleri. How that manipulation destroys both of them in the end ugh
