***Okay so I found this in my notes from May 2021 as a reaction to the scenes in the beginning of Endgame when Captain Marvel first brings Tony and Nebula back to Earth, when they first get off the ship, and when Tony yells at Steve a few scenes later when he looks like ‘Death Warmed Over’ in his robe and i thought I’d share -

Every time someone argues with me about my ABSOLUTE 100% belief that Steve and Tony had romantic feelings for each other, I’ll just show them this scene. “And I needed YOU.” He didn’t say “You guys” or “Your help.” Tony looked at Steve with so much pain in his eyes and said, “I needed y o u.” And Steve is just as broken watching Tony. This isn’t the first time this has happened between them. They had MANY scenes like this in Civil War (but I like to pretend that movie didn’t happen cause ‘ow blow a hole in my ship why dontcha?’) I mean technically I could submit that whole movie as evidence of their feelings but there are too many negative emotions wrapped up in it and it hurts. This movie is the first time they’ve seen each other since Civil War and when Tony first gets off the ship he basically falls into Steve’s arms. First of all, Steve fricking S P R I N T S when he sees Tony getting off the ship, then Tony sighs in relief and lets Steve take his weight. AND IMMEDIATELY begins unloading his grief about losing Peter cause he knew Steve would understand and comfort him. You can SEE s e e when Pepper runs up that (Ofc Tony does another sigh of relief that the snap didn’t take her (which I wish it did sorry Pepper your character stopped being interesting in the 2nd Iron Man)) Tony has to pull himself off of Steve and pretend to have it more together than he does because Pepper immediately begins crying and Tony has to comfort her. But Steve doesn’t leave his side. Tony cradling Pepper but he’s turning his body so that Steve can cradle him and ugh. Honestly I would have accepted a polyamorous relationship. Tony NEEDED someone to be the leader. THATS LITERALLY WHAT PEPPER WAS TALKING ABOUT. Tony NEVER rests because he always thinks he has to be the one to do everything, EXCEPT for when Steve’s around. Steve is the Captain and even though they bump heads (a lot, awww couples’ squabbles) Tony ALWAYS defers to Steve when it’s important. And Steve? Steve HAS to be a leader, to be helpful, in a healthy way because he couldn’t be that for most of his life in the past. He was a scrawny defenseless guy who always had to depend on Bucky. So to be able to take care of this group of wonderful people who are so powerful and yet STILL NEED STEVE? It’s who he his. It’s who Tony is too but he doesn’t WANT to be that way, he does it because he has to. He does it when no one else can or he doesn’t want to lose anyone else. This scene right now is Tony feeling helpless and so he lashes out at the easiest person, Steve. Steve is their leader and has saved them many times. Tony saw that picture of Peter and couldn’t handle his own feelings of helplessness so he lashed out to bring down the next ‘leader figure’ of the group. Steve and Tony have always been the parents of the Avengers. Steve is the most dad-est dad ever to dad. Meanwhile, Tony invites everyone to live with him while feeding them, clothing them (armor and civilian clothes) and making sure they have top of the line protection. HE LITERALLY EVEN SAYS THIS IN AGE OF ULTRON. SUCH a mom. So he wanted to make Steve feel his pain because Steve made a promise that they would lose together and Steve wasn’t there on that moon. And OF COURSE Tony knows that Steve was on earth fighting his own battle against Thanos but he wasn’t WITH Tony. And they are always stronger together than apart. (Civil War kinda proved this too) Tony sees Steve’s absence as the reason they lost, because ‘if only they’d been together’ ‘maybe we could have won if we’d only been together.’

ALSO DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON TONY LITERALLY GIVING STEVE A REPRESENTATION OF HIS HEART. I know he did it out of anger and to make a point but he took away this piece of him, that he made SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE HE FELT VULNERABLE WITHOUT THE ARC, and gave it to Steve. Once again shedding that responsibility and giving it to Steve. Because even with the residual anger over Civil War, Tony trusts Steve. He says otherwise in this moment out of anger but that “vision” he talks about here? He literally watches Steve die (YEAH THATS RIGHT I SAID STEVE. Not PEPPER, NOT RHODEY, NOT ANY OF THE OTHER AVENGERS.) Wanda showed him his worst fear in Age of Ultron and it was the death of the Avengers, but he didn’t see THEM die. Everyone else, Thor, Bruce, Natasha, and Clint were already dead. Tony watched STEVE die and it was STEVE saying that Tony could’ve saved them that spurred him into creating Ultron. He was so scared of losing them and letting Steve down (and letting him die) that he wanted to wrap the whole world in armor to protect him. And he tries to do it again in this scene. He means it to be spiteful but he gives Steve his armor and tells him to hide from Thanos. WHICH IS ANOTHER THING UGH. Tony doesn’t know that out of all of the people who fought Thanos in Wakanda that day, Steve was the one who engaged in hand-to-hand combat with him. Everyone else had armor and suits, weapons, etc. Steve has his serum strength and he u s e d it. It didn’t help for very long but he used his BARE HANDS to fight an alien-monster wielding 5/6 of ALL POWERFUL infinity stones, and ofc he was never going to win, but even Thanos looked at Steve in incredulity at his bravery and resolve. A human (a super charged one at that but still a human) fought him with his bare hands and wasn’t going to stop. (Steve proved this again at the end of Endgame when he’s the last one standing against Thanos and his entire army and just tightens the strap on his broken shield, (and most likely broken arm, based on the flinch/hiss) and readies himself to fight alone. Steve also gave Wanda time to destroy the mind stone (unfortunately, that didn’t mean anything in the end)

AND YET Tony doesn’t know any of this. He doesn’t know how hard Steve fought, just like Tony did on Titan, to stop Thanos. And I REALLY wish we had seen Tony’s reaction to Steve standing up to Thanos at the end of Endgame OR EVEN WIELDING MJOLNIR, but anyways.

Back to the basics. Boss level stuff most people don’t remember or think about- Tony’s dad very unhealthily IDOLIZED Steve. He canonically compared everything Tony did to Steve. So Tony grew up idolizing this man that he also despised because it fueled his father’s abuse of him. Tony shows this anger in the first Avengers. When they have their argument on the quinjet. “Everything special about you came out of a bottle.” He even says something about how Steve didn’t live up to his father’s hype (I don’t remember Tony’s exact words but that’s the gist) And ofc Steve says Tony’s nothing without his armor. But then they go on the prove each other wrong multiple times, but mainly in their last moments in the MCU. Steve proves it by standing alone against an ENTIRE alien army and later by picking up mjolnir. And Tony? Tony is that ONE factor in a million that Stephen sees. Tony, a beautifully pure human-being, with no powers or serums to help, takes on the powers of the stones. KNOWING it would kill him. He had proof. It nearly killed Thanos and Bruce and they were hulking (pun intended) beings with super strength and all that.

Tony and Steve were always set up to be spoils to one another and that makes them perfect together. They balance each other out. Pepper was a boss b****, no doubt, and I loved their relationship in the first two Iron Man movies, but as their characters grew and Tony’s personality was intrinsically changed through trauma- Pepper was no longer right for him. She was good for him, no doubt, but Tony couldn’t relax with her as he did with Steve. Tony could trust Steve to take over and everything could be fine. Pepper was like that for Stark Industries but not in other ways. Tony always saw himself as Pepper’s protector. I will 100% give her props for telling Tony that he’d never rest until he tried Scott’s time travel theory, but other than that she wasn’t particularly supportive of Iron. Man. What Pepper never seemed to understand, and what Steve didn’t understand when he FIRST met Tony, is that Tony and Iron Man are synonymous. Their is no ‘man outside the suit.’ Tony Stark is Iron Man and Iron Man is Tony Stark. Steve was placed into an already created persona of Captain America. Steve didn’t create Captain America even though that’s who he was. He was literally MADE for the role. Tony on the other hand, MADE Iron Man. He was the one who built the first suit - dying in a cave in Afghanistan. He was the one who took responsibility for Obadiah and his father’s actions and became a superhero to save the countries that were affected by Stark tech. Steve may have volunteered to be a superhero because he felt like he had no one other choice but Tony DIDN’T HAVE TO. He had fame, money, power, ALL OF IT. He could’ve EASILY hidden his company’s dark underside once he found out. But instead, Tony was like “Hey um so my company has done some bad things and instead of delegating aid through my money and power, I’m going to personally handle this with a titanium alloy suit and technology that I helped create in a cave while being held captive by a terrorist cell.”

Where was I going with this? OH YEAH.

I will believe in TonyxSteve (Stony) for the rest of my life and I will use fanfiction to fill the void of their deaths. Basically, if I lost anyone in the word vomit above, what I’m trying to say is that- Steve and Tony completed each other. They provided something the other needed. Tony needed stability and protection. He needed to feel like he could let go. Steve needed an anchor in the present. Someone lively and opinionated, SOMEONE ADVENTUROUS AND FUNNY, who Steve could smile with and protect. But also. Steve trusted Tony to be a leader as much as Tony trusted him. They had their ups and downs. Trauma and the Accords didn’t help their relationship at all, but should’ve been it for each other. And I honestly believe they would have t h r i v e d.

Honestly I applaud anyone who made it this far. I don’t know where this all came from but I will not apologize✌🏻

9. Favorite aspect of them/their relationship dynamics?

Varigo - My favorite aspect of varigo is probably the how I think they'd act during the pining stage and also post relationship. I like the idea of during the mutual pining stage, they really do have some closer and more real binding moments. The bickering goes from them both arguing angrily to them insulting each other jokingly while smiling. They start to pick up on one another's cues which means they subtly begin to notice when the other is upset. There's lots of nights staying up later with comfort or even just laughing and telling random stories to distract from late night sadness.

Now if we're talking post relationship, I like it because it's soft, but it can be messy. Communication is huge from them. They both came from very fucked up backgrounds, so it's really important they can provide reassurance and patience to one another. Obviously, they keep their playful banter, Hugo's still a bit overzealous and Varian's still a bit ambitious, but for the most part they've dialed it back a bit. Even so, I think they'd have problems arise in their relationship occasionally.

I think Hugo tends to get a bit defensive of Varian whenever anyone is rude to him which is fine, but he tends to take it too far which upsets Varian. Varian has to tell him that while he appreciates the thought and that he wants to defend him, he can take care of himself and in reality, causing a huge scene and arguing with people like that only makes things worse and gives him major anxiety. He doesn't need the approval of all the townsfolk, he has Rapunzel, and Eugene, and all his other friends and more importantly he has Hugo. And he's okay with just that.

On Varian’s end, I think he tends to be a bit more wreckless? He stays up at late hours, he rare cares for his own physical needs and he, in Hugo's words, does "That stupid self-sacrificing hero bullshit that almost gives me a goddamn heart attack!" In short, Hugo is fine with Varian’s ambitious nature, but the way he runs headfirst into things without thinking really scares Hugo because, when working Donella, he's seen first hand how badly those things can end so it sets off his paranoia to no end. I think at some point (the point where he's on the verhe of just screaming and/or sobbing because Varian almost died) he'd have to tell him that it scares him when he does that. He doesn't need some hero to save him or some kind of protector, he needs Varian alive and well. Thats all that matters.

Cassunzel - this one won't be as well thought-out as varigo considering varigo is basically my bread and butter, but I still love them dearly so I will try my best !

So for cassunzel I'd have to say my favorite aspect of their dynamic was more seen in season one? I think Cassandra is still dealing with lots of feelings of jealousy and being overshadowed and it kind of manifests itself in ways that she doesn't even realize are a bjt spiteful until its too late. I think the part I like about this is Rapunzel trying to be a bit more patient as a response...

Cass can be in the wrong sometimes, but she's really not trying to be. She's mostly trying to figure out her emotions of her own trauma and why she feels that way and I think it comes out in the form of jealousy with unhelpful coping mechanisms.

If you don't know, I have BPD, so I struggle a lot with feelings of jealousy, and the way Rapunzel approaches more from the patient side really made me happy. (Not that my jealousy has actually made me do extremely spiteful things, I've found helpful coping skills, but still, sometimes it helps to have that extra help of reassurance.) I like how she acknowledges how Cass' emotions are valid and real and they deserve respect, but she also needs to watch how her emotions can manifest into actions and affect others around her. It's just a very valuable moment for Cass.

On Rapunzel's end, I like the idea that she's always been a bit too... toxicly positive? Like she tends to fall more on the optimistic side which can be helpful at times, but other times it can be a bit worse. I like the way Raps and Cass bounce off each other, because it's almost like she's there to ground her back into reality sometimes. They just kind of perfectly balance each other out to come to more realistic answers.

10. Least favorite aspect of them/their relationship dynamics? (Can be headcannon)

Varigo - good God, if I see one more person portrat Varian as soft pushover who's only enraptured by Hugo being a pretty boy and just lays down and takes his constant bantering and then they make Hugo a smug asshole who constantly pushes boundaries and is only interested in getting in peoples pants I will actually lose it.

I love thinking of characters as EXTREMELY complex things. I study psychology on the side, and let me tell you human beings are extremely complicated and interesting. I like to think of characters the same. Imagine it as a rubiks cube. Every time you switch one of the sides, its another aspect and depth to their character and it takes forever to solve and ultimately, I dont think it can be "solved."

The character dynamics and interpretations of Hugo and Varian are just... so deep and different and interesting to explore, so it really bums me out when people sand them down into one-dimensional characters, especially stereotypes no less.

the hell is mystreet season 6??

(warning, long post ahead)

ok so before i start this

1) ive never posted shiiiit on tumblr before so watch me suffer, im just here to talk about stuff that my friends who dont know anything about aphmau have to listen to me rant about for hours on end

2) i havent seen mystreet in like years (except season 3, i watch that frequently since im laurance and shadow knight deprived) so please bear with me because i might be completely wrong on this lol. it’s just like, pointing out things i remember

3) im sure someones already talked about this but who cares

4) im gonna do this stupid thing where i just explain myself a bit at first, if you dont want to read that just skip to the part where you see “the actual thingy:” in bold and italics

5) mild disclaimer; i am completely aware that jessica is not a professional writer. i know that she did her best to appeal to her fans, and honestly, respect for that. while this post will come off as aggressive and probably look like hate, that’s not my intention in the slightest. it’s just... intense criticism. im sure y’all probably already know that, but yeah, just stating that anyways. i do believe that jess is doing her best, and in no way do i want to dismiss any hard work she’s done. that being said; prepare for a very strongly opinionated post.

ok here we go

one of the main reasons i stopped watching aphmau back in 2017 was the mess that was season 4. like, in the first few episodes of the emerald secret, i thought “woah!! this is kinda cool, im a sucker for mystery!” because of course i was, it was something new and something exciting. the only problem i had with it at the time was kim, but that’s just because i always found her annoying and out of place. i just didn’t understand why garroth dragged her along and honestly i still don’t to this day BUT, moving on.

anyways, as the season progressed, 13 year old me was of course just “:0!!” the entire time--that is, up until the reveal of the main villain. i remember watching the episode, seeing the reveal of ein, and then stopping. like, just for a quick break, but i was still just overwhelmingly disappointed. like, and this was the time when pdh was airing and ein just got made alpha (i think?) and i had really really liked eins character in pdh. either way, that really sucked and actually opened my eyes to a lot of things.

one of the main things bein’ the fact that this was supposed to be a slice of life kinda series that decided to take a turn to a more edgy kinda approach. which, i guess i regularly wouldnt mind? but seeing as mcd was kinda bein neglected at the time it just didnt sit right with me. BUT WHATEVER, point is i stopped watching mystreet all together at the end of season 4.

like, a whole year later my brother tells me that shit’s getting intense in season 5 + 6 of mystreet, and my brilliant self decided to give it a shot--but i refused to watch all of season 5, so i only stepped in when ein made an appearance. so whenever that was, that’s where i picked up because i didnt care enough to see

and y’know--i honestly didn’t hate it at first. in fact, i found it oddly cool. it wasn’t enough to get me into aphmau again, but it was enough to where i was intrigued. i dont know why, but i never watched the finale, so i didnt see the ending until just a few weeks ago--but back then, i thought it was neat. looking back on it however... im just so confused.

side note: only got back into aphmau this time around because of mcd. mainly because like, i adore the first season and the first half of the second season. and being nearly 18 now, im a lot more appreciative of plot and well-written characters n junk.

the actual thingy:

ok back on track. imma stop spilling out my story of how i got back into aphmau, and lets just skip to what rewatching mcd made me realize of season 6′s plot and shit:

-emmalyn. how the fuck does ghost even remotely exist? if she’s emmalyn as claimed, then why have we already seen emmalyn in the mystreet universe alive? look i get that creators can do whatever they want with their stories but at the same time please provide some sort of explanation good god. and maybe they did and i just havent seen it, so if there is one--let me know. but until that day imma just sit here confused as fuck

-ok so imma just be real, the whole ‘ultima’ thing is just... not great. in my opinion, anyways. like... i saw someone mention this in another post, but if this ultima stuff was like, a really big deal, why isnt it mentioned in mcd? though i suppose since its a curse of sorts, it could be later on past the time period in which mcd takes place--but even then, how did it manage to make its way into aaron’s family bloodline?

-WHY IS EVERYONE AT STARLIGHT ITS JUST SO CONVINIENT like what happened to this place being the most expensive shit on the planet or whatever, and how the gang happens to run into like, the werewolf trio and blaze and kai and guy and nate all of these people like god damn life doesnt WORK LIKE THAT

-im sorry but turning people into relics? thats... thats the best you could come up with? plus, like, how does that even work? in mcd it’s established that relics are separate entitles that choose their wielder, based on a ‘personal’ connection (being a descendent of a previous wielder) or if they’re a good match personality and (i think?) moral wise. so the whole turning-people-into-relics doesnt make much sense to be honest.

-irene really over here using her god powers to only keep her friends alive like god damn not a great god if you ask me

-can i talk about how incredibly predictable aphmaus death was? like i just kinda sat there waiting for it to happen and when it did i literally went “haha! wonder when she’ll be revived” because god forbid we actually kill off characters

-when aphmau + demon warlock fought in the irene dimension there was no passage of time whatsoever in the real world whiiiiiiiiich really bothers me because they fought in there for at least a few minutes

-speaking of aphmau and the demon warlocks fight does it bother anyone else that it had to be aaron who took over the fight?? like we get it hes the big protector blah blah blah but god damn it wouldve been cooler if aphmau had fought this battle as her. aaron fighting this battle was so underwhelming

-...love. like, thats the only thing thats needed to break out of a forever potion? love? LIKE YEAH, GOOD GUYS GOTTA WIN SOMEHOW, but its just so cliche and overdoneeee

-oh yeah and also when travis went bonkers and became the demon warlock or whatever, why’d he only take over katelyn and garroth?? like, zane had been influenced by the potions in the past as well? DONT GET ME WRONG--i do love some good brother edge, but uh, the demon warlock was just bein kinda a dumbass by not possessing zane too just sayin’

-can aaron please go to fucking jail for mass murder now like holy shit, he just got sent home on a fuckin boat. also why did blaze forgive him for killing him thats not even remotely realistic. then again, nothing in mystreet has ever been realistic when it comes to characters and motives and personalities, (cough katelyn being actually abusive and travis being an actual pervert) but yknow whatever

-katelyn and kawaii chan literally added nothing to the plot whatsoever. like lets be real, katelyn lost her personality the moment season 5 started and kawaii chan just kinda sits there :I

-ok im sorry this was bound to come up but cmon guys imagine laurances potential if he was in season 6 like god damn this is beyond maddening. AND YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A REALLY REALLY COOL PARRALLEL?? IF IT WAS LAURANCE WHO SNAPPED GARROTH OUT OF HIS MIND CONTROL THING, because it would mimic laurance’s speech to get garroth to snap out of his rage in season 1, episode 100 of minecraft diaries. like how fuckin rad would that have been? missed opportunity

-also?? why does kim/ghost know magicks?? like, if i remember correctly, emmalyn is a scholar--not someone who knew magicks. i mean, i guess research? study?? but its been established that knowing how magicks works =/= being able to use magicks. i dunno, just doesnt seem right i guess. maybe its explained, i wouldnt know (yes i know that makes me look like a dick leave me alone)

-melissa should have stayed dead. LIKE, NO, ITS NOT AS SIMPLE AS “haha it takes more than a few bullets to kill me”??? look ive got nothing wrong with melissa (cough lie cough) but yknow it would have just been cool a character... stay dead? for once? its just too fuckin cliche that shes alive god damn

-can i also just say the only good thing that came out of season 6 was travis’ dads sacrifice like damn that made me actually sad

-howww was lucinda turned into a relic. or yknow, anyone else? like im sure they explain it better in the actual show i just dont remember, but its just that easy? turning anyone into a relic? granted, a normal person wouldnt be able to produce a good relic, but idk man. IM JUST SAYING; that the only really powerful relics that aphmau should have been able to wield is the one that aaron + zane produced because shad relic and esmund relic moment. lucinda isnt even like, connected to a divine warrior. ALSO, another point, if its seriously that powerful of a relic getting one from just a magic user like lucinda, why go through the trouble? i mean i guess ofc youd want the “all powerful” one that the ultima produces but i mean damn whats the point

-ok this is just going to bother me but in one of the episodes (i think might have been in season 5 actually) where that like, guardian dude was chasing aphmau and zane and at one point they split up and the dude just chuckles at zane diverting paths and goes under his breath “youre not the important one here”, suggesting that aphmau somehow is? first of all, id argue that any ro’meave is significantly more important than aphmau was, especially not knowing much about her other than that shes with aaron. i might be missing some bits an pieces, but if i was that dude id forget about aphmau and go after zane

-killing off derek for shock factor sucked, and i know the moment was supposed to be really sad because like “oh :( aarons dad is sacrificing himself for his son” but lets be real dereks still was a shitty father and i dont think his reasons for doing what he did was very good at all

-less about plot or more like: why the absolute fuck did the gang bring kim along instead of, oh i dont know, a life-long friend? like, laurance or dante maybe?? im sure its explained, i never saw aphmaus year or most of season 5, but god DAMN id hate to be apart of this friend group AND GOD LIKE, imagine reconnecting with an old friend who ends up getting closer to your best friends and taking priority in their lives over you (cough laurance) like god damn lol

-im just going to preface this one with: i dont remember everything that’s happened, so if im wrong i apologize in advance--but (you actually can correct me if im wrong and please do) didnt like, irene reincarnate her friends in order to give them better lives? I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE, ITS JUST WHAT I REMEMBER--however, if im correct, then:

a. why the hell would she bring back someone like zane, or gene, or ivy, etc.

b. why the hell do they all have the same exact names? first and last? again, im aware that the whole mystreet+mcd tie wasn’t originally supposed to be there, but i dont think that means such a coincidence can be excused? its just a bit much if you ask me.

c. why the hell is the fact that (as much as i literally hate this) aaron is a decedent of shad being ignored? like, you’d think that something like this would be something thats actually important, or something the demon warlock couldve taken advantage of. or are we completely erasing every other connections to divine warriors besides aphmau + irene? because even if irene did reincarnate them or do whatever it is she did, does she even have the power to sever the connections between them and their ancestors? my guess is, no.

d. speaking of irene why on earth was aphmau able to talk to/see irene, they’re literally the same person are they not? did she like, fuckin reincarnate herself without actually doing it?? BUT--i will give it to them, the demon warlock did refer to aphmau as something along the lines of being “one of the 3 parts of her broken soul” or something like that. however, my point still remains. also what are the other two did i miss that or is it never explained

now; if irene in fact did not ‘reincarnate’ her friends then please ignore that little bit right there :)

but yes, those are a few of the problems i have with season 6 off the top of my head. i would go into like, season 4 and 5 more as well, but i honestly didnt feel like it. at some point i might go into other things, like how important laurance could have been to the plot of these later seasons, or HELL, even dante. i might also go into what could have made season 4, 5, and 6 actually good--maybe... a rewrite? perhaps? but im getting too far ahead of myself, so i just leave you with this for now.

and i know that as soon as i post this 15 more things are just going to pop into my head BUT im going to try and not edit this post because why stress myself with that even more

so i've been using neopronouns for less than a week and every day since i started, i've been getting negative reactions. the negativity comes from strangers, so it doesn't hurt me as personally as if friends were doing this (i actually haven't said anything to my friends about my neopronouns yet). anyhow, when people try to argue with me, i tell them that i don't see why they can't be respectful and call someone whatever makes them feel happy and comfortable. one reaction i got was "just because something makes someone happy doesn't make it valid" and compared it to letting someone drink poison if drinking poison is what makes them happy. then i get a lot of people who bring up stuff like "but what if the pronouns that make me feel valid contain a slur? / what if i use pizzaself? / what if i only go by BLMself pronouns? you'd be invalidating me!!!" and they try to use my own words against me since i've previously said "even if you don't understand it you should call people by what makes them feel valid." i know these people don't even use neopronouns to begin with but tbh it still does start to make me feel guilty? i'm nd and i can't always pick up social cues or sarcasm so i would feel horrible if i did unwillingly invalidate someone. but i'm also kind of paranoid because so much trolling has been going around recently like one video where someone tricked another person into using neopronouns that sounded like a slur when said out loud, recorded it, and put it online. i don't always know who is being sincere and who wants to trick people, particularly with nounself pronouns, like the pizzaself thing. finally, i wanted to go back to the topic of not telling my friends about my neopronouns yet. i feel like if i just start to put my neopronouns on profiles that my friends can view, it'll seem odd to them that i never said anything before, but i also don't know how to bring up in a personal conversation "i found out about some neopronouns i like and i've started using them" without it being awkward. i don't think my friends would make fun of me but i do think they'd find neopronouns 'weird' in general and maybe act kind of insensitive without meaning to, like not getting it. how would you react to the rude ppl? i know i could ignore them but i feel like they take that as them 'winning' or me running out of ways to defend my point of view. and how would you have your friends find out about about you wanting to use neopronouns?

(LATER EDIT: A friend on Discord pointed out that throughout this entire update, Karkat's horns are #FF0000 red. They were normal candy-corn colors in previous glimpses at the ship crew, though they used a dark single-color shortcut typical of old Homestuck at one point... but THIS time it stays STARK red even when we zoom in close later. Is this just artistic liberty? Did Karkat color his horns for fashion? Does this happen to red-bloods like the Sufferer after a certain age? Just how much time has actually passed, here? We might have to wait for the commentary for this one.)

KARKAT: I WAS SAYING I THOUGHT WE MIGHT GO, I DUNNO, ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE ENTIRE SHIP WHILE THE CLOTHES WERE WASHING. Oh right, coming back to the Little Prince stuff I was too lazy to metaphor-deep-dive into, and literally asking the same questions we were asking about who the Little Prince’s story applies to mapped here if anyone at all, like Dirk and such, or what biases were in the retelling of it and the way Kanaya phrased it. So now we’re practically mocking it by deep diving it here, hence the last page’s “DAVE: i was just thinking through some really convoluted metaphorical horseshit”, which means we’re both about to further explore AND shit all over the existence of this story metaphor until it doesn’t mean anything and most of the meaning we drew from it earlier is made a joke~

Great examples of Light being good and bad! Attaching strands of connective meaning to everything. --though, in Dave’s case AND Kanaya’s case you could argue it’s both bad in terms of effects. That it’s great for Kanaya to care, but that she should be able to divest herself and live on her own terms without idealizing Rose literally everywhere she looks, personal growth which would be useful in helping bring Rose back to her in the first place. The struggle they’re looking forward to is largely philosophical, not just physical, and until Rosebot acknowledges that she was wrong it’s not over.

Pretty sure Dave was on the same page as most Epilogue and start-of-HS2 readers. This situation is pretty bleak to dump our heroes into, no matter how much we believe will be resolved in the long run.

I really hope that the writers of HS2 know full well that this feeling? the one Dave is describing here? is what many of us who got way overinvested in the well-being of Homestuck’s surviving characters felt reading the Epilogues and Homestuck^2. So I really hope they’re working through it in a way that will result in a preponderance of GOOD THINGS happening and hope-filled situations. Cause that “can’t even think about X” feeling is too familiar, and if they understand it as well as it LOOKS like they’re getting to, I’d really like them to give us a helping hand healing.

I think that’s what they’re going for? Seems hopeful for me to think so, but they HAVE been doing better as HS2 has been going forward, from an emotional standpoint anyway; definitely better than the Epilogues. And I’ve worked through some of that stuff with the help of that, because it’s MUCH easier nowadays to think about Homestuck without my gut clenching.

Mhmm, Karkat’s potentially a pretty good person to speak with here since he’s done so much work trying not to feel responsible for everything that’s ever gone wrong.

Dave is still afraid. There is a part of him that will always be, he thinks. He has accepted this about himself. There is another feeling coursing through him too, though. It’s something he's felt before, though never quite so intensely. He looks up at Karkat and understands, viscerally, the simple power his words have. They pump through Dave’s own body, alive and warm and true.

He wonders if Karkat realizes it, or if he’s just, as always, saying what he feels as he feels it. Dave doesn’t attempt to dissect it further. There will be time for that later.

Every really loving moment like this is sort of undercut by the fact that it’s also, in some senses, part of alt!Calliope’s narration and, by extension, her fanfiction.

EDIT 2: There's also either a hint to potential Blood powers or even an explicit Blood power use here that I didn't recognize. I'm leaning towards it's-laying-the-groundwork-for-future-use-of-Blood-powers-but-isnt-magical-in-this-case.

Apparently, Arguing, and Cheating: ...we're half way thru 2019 and yall are still out here pretending "b*phobia" is a thing hm Lors of comments on this post saying im wrong but none of them are explaining how biphobia is real. Explain & point out to me the specific oppression bi people face, that isnt just a combination of homophobia & misogyny. Bi people dont face a specific oppression that isnt one of those two things im being told bi women have a higher rate of IPV than other groups, but the fact that bi men do not replicate the same numbers means that this is misogyny, not biphobia. If it was biphobia, anyone who is bisexual would face the same rates of abuse. And they dont. Only women do. Its not that "bi people cant experience oppres- sion" which...they do. If theyre women, they face an intersection of homophobia for their perceived-gay relationships, and misogyny. If theyre bi men, they face homophobia. There is still not a unique oppression bi people have, except being told "bisexuality isnt real", but as lesbian if i had a fucking dollar for every time i was told "lesbianism isnt real", "once you try dick you wont 'go back"? Id be fucking loaded. So "[sexuality] isnt real" is just said to people in same sex relationships because it "goes against" homophobic persons pov. & anyway my original comment on this post still stands _(9)F. Bi ppl in visibly straight relationships face no oppression, theyre in fact protected by that guise of heterosexuality. If bi people face oppression in percieved heterosexual relationships, than it goes to reason that heterosexuals are also oppressed. But ive already seen one person on this post claim that the hets ARE oppressed so okay, i know i'm just another teenager with a fandom icon (even younger than the last one! oh no!) but here we go. you say all opression bi women face is a combination of homophobia and misogyny and therefore biphobia isnt real? Lesbophobia is exactly that. a combination of homophobia and misogyny. Does that mean Lesbophobia is not real? Thats what im saying: lesbophobia is an intersection of facing homophobia & misyogony, misyogonoir is the intersection of racism and misyogony, but because "bisexual" encompasses women *and* men it cant be an intersection of homophobia and misyogony ."why cant you just pick one?" would argue that thats less oppression and more ignorance. Someone not knowing what bisexuality is doesnt put you at risk of losing your home or being beaten, in the same way being in an "overt" homosexual relationship does. sterotyped as cheating That is a unique assumption about bi people, but ive never seen it directed at bisexual men, mostly bisexual women - and women are already considered to be forced on a thin line of "pure or whore", so i dont know if i can agree that it is biphobia and not just misogyny. But im willing to admit that it might be? ldk. told youre gay or straight Theres a popular post circulating that says so- mething along the lines of "bi women are assu- med to be actually straight and experimenting, and bi men are assumed to be actually gay: the default is 'attracted to men" thats misyogony. These are the exact studies i was asking for earlier & got told no. So thank you, genuinely, for finding them. But even reading these i have to ask why, if biphobia is the actual cause, why arent bi men harmed as much as bi women? It honestly just all reads as very intense misogyny, which doesnt affect bi men. And on my first tag, i said "if biphobia is real, so is heterophobia", which i still think. If bi people are oppresed for being BISEXUAL, not oppressed for being seen as "potentially" gay, or ""potentially" in a gay relationship, then they are oppressed for their attraction for the same and opposite sex, which they experience at the same time. You cant be oppressed for heterosexual attraction, or bise- xual attraction to the opposite sex, or whatever you want to consider that specific attraction. Sorry i just overall don't think that someone in visibly heterosexual relationship (whether or not either or neither of the parties are actually bisexual) faces any oppression in the aspect of their perceived sexuality. A male & female bisexual couple holding hands in public isnt going to get beaten up, or harassed, or met with the same vitriol and fear that a female & female, or male & male bisexual or gay couple would face. Thats what my op was out. & for the record i wasnt mocking that last person for being young & having a fandom blog, objectively theres obviously nothing wrong with either of those lol. she insulted me & i responded by saying something equally reductive. I dont care if young ppl interact with my blog, i just wish she didnt jump onto a vent post i made a week ago about a homophobic bisexual coworker that had like...no notes & turn tinto a post insulting me and w several people saying they want me stabbed bloody and dead () but we dont all get what we want, so Biphobia is just homophobia and misogyny apparently.

Your alarm blares for the fifth time before you finally crawl out of your bed. You just have no willpower this morning, thanks to the killer hangover you acquired from the night before. You can hear out in the living room that your parents are fighting again. Something about the electric bill, or maybe the cable bill? Probably both. You groan inwardly before sitting up and rubbing your eyes. You glance over to your phone to see no messages received, which was the first thing that actually surprised this morning. You send a good morning text to your boyfriend Justin before stripping off yesterday’s outfit and getting in the shower. As you go to step into the tub, you hear your phone buzz again. You eagerly pick it up to see a message from your service provider. You look at the phone, confusion washing over your features before you tossing the device on your bed and storming out into the living room.

“What the hell guys!” You shout, trying to be heard over your arguing parents. “Why is my phone shut off?” Your father glares at your mother before turning on his heel before storming out and climbing in his truck and shooting down the street. You turn to your mother, fuming. “What’s the point of me having a job when I can’t even have a functioning phone?” You shout.

“Your father blew all of our money at the bar last night. Apparently his tab needed to be paid.” Your mom says, sitting down and taking a drink out of her coffee. You could feel the sides of your face burning as your rage boiled up you stumbled over your words.

“What in the fuck do you mean?” You roar, rage getting the best of you. Tears starting falling down your mother’s cheeks and you felt your heart drop into your stomach.

“What would you have me do (Y/N)?” She pleads with you. You stand there before the broken woman, trying to muster up some words of comfort but all that comes to mind is the instance that she leave him. You didn’t care if he was your “father”. He was a piece of shit who had no interest in anyone but himself. You opt to silently hug your mother, knowing nothing you could say would express how you truly felt about the situation. She rested her hand on your arm, using her other to rub your back to comfort you. When tears subsided, you finished getting ready and started your walk to school. Normally you would ride with Justin and Zach, but since you had no way to get ahold of them, looks like you were walking.

As you turned onto the busy street that would leave you to school, you heard loud music and a horn honking behind you. You turn to see Zach and Justin looking at you, gesturing in confusion.

“The fuck (Y/N)?” Justin calls out once Zach come to a stop next to you. “Why didn’t you text me this morning?” You pulled out your phone and showed him the message from your service provider trying hard to keep your composure. Justin knew about your family, it was what drew you together. But that didn’t mean that you wanted him to know how much you struggled there. And this was just your dad blowing the phone and electric bill. You had been out last night when he stumbled home drunk and pissed but had you been there, it would’ve been a hell of a lot different.

“Damn, (Y/N). I’m sorry. Is there anything I can do?” Justin asked, a look of concern covering his features.

“Unless you can somehow come up with 500 dollars so we can pay our bills.” You say shortly, knowing the likelihood of that was slim. He wore a contemplative look now, and said nothing. Zach looked from you to Justin and started to drive. He was cute, but boy was he dumb. His saving grace was he knew when to stay out of it. You didn’t want to hear the “easy” solution that most people have, it was the same one you wanted to offer to your mother this morning. Except it’s never that easy, your dad made the money for your family. It’s why he thought it was his to spend.

School was uneventful for the most part, Sheri getting on you at lunch about not texting her back until Justin tells her to shut up. She backs off, telling you she’d see you around. Great, more bullshit. You just wanted the day to end so you could go crawl into your bed and try to forget the world. Justin and Zach had practice after school and while you normally would stay and watch to cheer them on, you snuck off while they were getting changed into their uniforms. Plugging in your headphones, you privately thanked god for music and its ability to get your mind off everything.

When you cut the corner onto your street, you were surprised to see Zach’s Audi parked out front. As you neared, you could see Zach was still in the car and you were confused as to why he was even there.

“Zach, the fuck are you doing here?” You shout at him, emotion drained from your voice. He says nothing and points to the front door where you see Justin talking to your mom. She seems to be thanking him profusely, and even pulls him into a hug, definitely earning a raised eyebrow from you. Justin looks awkward as he breaks from the hug, spotting you over your mother’s shoulder as he mouths the word “shit”.

“Hey mom, what’s going on?” You ask warily as you walk up the front yard. You’re watching the two of them warily, half a million things running through your head.

“(Y/N), I was just talking to your mom about something, I wanted to help out.” He says cautiously.

“Help out with what?”

“(Y/N), honey, Justin gave us a little bit of money, to cover what your dad blew last night.” Your mom explained, words getting stuck in her throat as her voice wavered. Your eyebrows shoot up into what must be your hairline as you turn your gaze on Justin.

“I’m, uh, gonna be staying with Zach for a little while.” He tells you as he nods at Zach. He smiles at your mom, but you can see the anxiety in his eyes, he doesn’t want to talk about it here.

“I have to get this money in town before 5 so I can pay off these bills.” Your mom says, excusing herself from the two of you. “Thank you Justin, I’ll pay every dime of it back, I promise.”

“Don’t worry about it Mrs. (Y/L/N). No rush.” He says warmly. Your mom plants a kiss on his cheek and beams at him before hopping into her car and speeding towards downtown.

“What the fuck did you do Justin?” You whisper angrily. “Where did you get that money.”

“Meth Seth just left it lying around. I wanted to help you.” He whispers back.

“You moron, he’s going to kill you!” You exclaim, emotion taking over your volume.

“I’m staying at Zach’s until I can replace the money. It wasn’t much. You said you needed 500, I’ve stolen more from that prick.” He tells you dismissively.

“You’re not obligated to save me.” You insist, tears threatening in your voice.

“Of course I’m not, but I want you to be happy (Y/N).” Justin pleads. You run your hands through your hair, nervously watching the street as if Seth would already know. “I just wanted to help you.” He says sadly. “I’d give up anything to see you smile. You’re everything to me.”

but right when you wanted to open your new locker the school has provided for you, you bumped into a boy. if it was someone you knew, you wouldve groaned and pushed him away. but this time, it wasnt someone you knew.

so you decided to shut yourself up. you looked up, the boy was taller, he had brown hair though, soft, to be exact. his eyes were coloured, brown. perhaps he was using coloured contacts. and his stare, intense, right into your soul.

you quickly backed away, not gonna lie, you were intimidated, of course, but you also didnt want to make yourself look like a pussy. the girls around you were shocked, some froze in their tracks. you heard them say, ‘oh no! i feel sorry for her, what if he punches her too?’

ah, so he’s the guy they’ve been talking about. your eyes landed on his name tag - mark lee. right before you wanted to apologize, he walked past by you, his shoulders hitting you, you moved away, looking at him, as his back walks further away from you. you scoffed, what a jerk.

rule number one, you thought to yourself. never ever talk to mark lee.

when it was lunch time, you didnt even bother to take some food. the first thing you did was to find the school’s rooftop. because as cliche as it sounds, the only reason why you loved rooftops was because it helped you find your peace.

and since there are a lot of conflicts going on at home, this is the period where you would constantly find yourself alone, feeling the wind brush against your skin, having some alone time.

you slammed the door that led to the rooftop open, but to your surprise that spot has already been taken. the boy standing on the rooftop had a familiar back. the boy seemed frantic. as you put your hands into your pocket, you walked closer to him.

he was murmuring something to himself, he then tried to find something in his pocket. ‘fuck! where did i put it?’ he cursed to himself. your attention fell to the cigarette that was sitting in between his lips. is he crazy? you thought to yourself, who the hell smokes in school?

he didnt seem to be bothered by you. your eyes darted to the lighter on the floor next to the door, you picked it up, and walked right up to the boy. standing right in front of him, he stopped searching himself. he looks into your eyes, giving you that look, confused to why you are standing infront of him.

you take out your hands from your pocket, showing the lighter that you found on the floor. he sighed in relief. he ran his fingers through his brown hair, mark lee. he smirked at you, and then softly spoke, light my cigarette.

you rolled your eyes, throwing the lighter at him, you say, light it yourself. mark smiled to himself, his eyes squinted, trying to examine you properly, but because of the strong wind, he could barely open his eyes to see your face. you walked away, further away from him.

smelling the nature that is around you, you decided to leave mark lee alone, since you made yourself a rule, never to talk to him. just then, your phone rang, you groaned, all you wanted was time to yourself, but why was that so hard? the caller id that showed, - dad, you angrily accepted it.

‘hello, my daughter, how are you? is your mom getting better?’ your dad asked through the phone. but all you did was get angry. after leaving your family for someone else, you felt like he didnt deserve to know anything about your life. ‘when will you stop calling me? cant you tell that i hate you?’ you hissed.

your yell that was a little too loud, mark turned his gaze to you, taking his bud out of his mouth for a while to get some air, he got curios as to why you were so angry. ‘im your dad, i deserve to know how my daughter is doing,’

you dont even deserve to be called my dad. you left us, so stop calling me! you yelled into the phone before hanging up. at this rate, you were so frustrated. you hated how your dad never stops calling. what else did he want?

mark walked over to you, sitting on the railing right infront of you. he lets out smoke coming out of his mouth. you hated smoking. the smell of smoke made you want to puke and it reminded you of your own dad, which makes it even more worse.

‘cant you smoke somewhere else?’ you hissed at the boy sitting on the railing. he laughed to himself. ‘cant i smoke here, though?’ mark asked, grinning over to you, trying to agitate you even more. you just kept your mouth shut, you didnt feel like arguing with anyone at the moment. so, there was an awkward silence between the two of you.

that was until, mark tried to break the silence, ‘you know, he’s your dad, i dont think you should speaking to him like that,’ he exclaimed. looking at you in the eyes, all you could do was roll your eyes. you let out a soft laugh, sarcastically of course.

she walked up to mark, close to his face, she says, ‘you dont know anything about my family, so i suggest you shut up,’ before continuing on with a, ‘and isnt smoking bad for your health too? so dont try to educate me on what’s bad for me and try to take care of yourself,’

the bell rang, mark was left speechless. usually, he’s the one who would leave people speechless, not the one to be left speechless. you smiled at him one last time before you leave, but he grabbed on your wrist and pulled you back to look at him.

your eyes met, not breaking eye contact at all. while still holding your wrist, mark threw the cigarette away, stepping on it till the smoke goes out as he gets himself down from the railing. you wanted to curse at him for holding onto you like that. but as cliche as it sounds, his grip made you feel at ease.

before walking off, he stands infront of you, this time, not looking at your eyes, but at your lips instead. your heart beat faster each second as time goes by while he’s still holding onto your wrist. and right before you catch him leaning in, you push him away from you. what the hell does he think he’s doing?

‘go to class, mark lee,’ was the only thing you could say before running off to the next class. mark just stands there, on the rooftop, looking at your back moving away from him, he smiles to himself.

ive seen dr lenihan for private transition, and was told i MUST legally change my name before they'll give me T. Im not ready to do that yet; im not 100% used to my name, havent picked a middle name, and i REALLY dont have the money, time or mental energy to change it legally until summer, because im right in the middle of 1st year at uni, AND my ID will then be 'male' when i dont pass at all in the first 6 months of T. I explained all this but she just said it was their policy and i have to

....Can they force me to change my name like that? And what if, by chance, my given name was 'gender neutral', then i guess i wouldn't be forced to change it prematurely like this?? It feels really unfair and like she wouldnt listen to my situation, because legally changing my name right now will cause me so many problems. I only need 6 months, then i'll be ready to. but i CANT wait 6 months for T. Should i try to put my foot down and argue my case more? I dont know what to do. Advice?

My understanding is that this policy is normally because they want some concrete evidence of commitment to social transition, and yes, I do know of people who had gender neutral names prior to transition, who were asked to provide evidence that they had changed them before being able to progress with physical elements of transition.

Without knowing your personal circumstances, it’s hard to give specific advice I’m afraid. For instance, are you living as male despite not having formally changed your name? If so, and you can produce some kind of evidence of this, such as a letter from a member of staff at university stating that they know you as male, and with a certain name, then this might help. Indeed, if you’re generally able to produce evidence that you’ve committed to social transition even if it’s not as explicit as the example I’ve suggested, it could help (though I can’t guarantee this).

Another option, which could be used in addition to the above, would be to ask for an explanation as to why the reasoning you’ve given her isn’t sufficient to allow her to ‘bend the rules’. I’m not sure if this is something she has already been through, and I’m not sure how fully and explicitly you’ve explained yourself to her, but I can think of a few reasons why she might not think the reasons (as you’ve given them above) are sufficient. If you haven’t already, it might help your argument if you are able to explain why changing your name sooner rather than later isn’t feasible despite the points below.

1) You can get a formal change of name document for free (not counting the cost of paper and printing, which should be minimal if you have access to a printer through e.g. your university library).

2) Though technically you’re supposed to renounce your previous name on all documents ASAP, in practice it’s normally fine to wait until you can afford/are practically in a position to change your name with various organisations (especially with things like your passport, where you have to pay to update your details). For instance, I changed my name formally 6 years ago, during my second year of university, and am still yet to update my passport. So you could formally change your name and update e.g. your student and medical records (which are usually quite straightforward), but leave everything else until the summer.

3) I know people who have changed their name but not updated their passport (or other documents they use as ID) because they are concerned about not being read as the gender on the updated document. This is usually fine: as long as you aren’t doing this for fraudulent reasons, it’s not legally an issue. The main thing is that photo ID should be recognisable as you. I’ve also not come across anyone who has delayed updating documents and had the organisation question them about the time difference between the date on the deed poll and the date they actually get around to changing their details.

4) There’s no limit to how many times you can change your name - as long as you keep a copy of all interim documents between your original name and your latest deed poll, you could (for instance) change just your first name to start with, and add a middle name at a later date. You could also change your first name later if you wanted to. Of course, doing this would usually mean having to update your details with at least some organisations more than once, especially if you changed your first name more than once (in my experience being inconsistent about informing companies about having a middle name hasn’t been an issue, though admittedly some organisations are stricter about the name they hold for you exactly matching the name on your name change documents).

Sorry this is rather long, but I hope it’s reasonably helpful. I think the main point I would emphasise from the above is that the reasoning for the rule about name change should be made clear to you (and that it’s usually to do with showing you’re committed to social transition, or have already started socially transitioning). If you haven’t started socially transitioning yet, then a lot of the above won’t be relevant right now as that will be the biggest issue, but if you have, then if you can provide any evidence of this it might help. It might also reassure you that name change doesn’t have to be as scary, expensive, or labour-intensive process as it might seem. This page has more information on it, including a list of places you might need to change your name (I certainly found that working out who I needed to inform was one of the most difficult parts of the whole thing, so a list would have been helpful to me!)

Of course, if you’re really not ready to change your name for whatever reason, then Dr Lenihan should accept this, but unfortunately evidence that you’re committed to transition does usually form part of the assessment process and you might need to talk to her about whether there are alternative ways you can demonstrate this.

Episode 1 - Labradorable Transcript

Hello, I’m Alaina and welcome to the very first full episode of the howl!

Our story begins on an island off the eastern coast of canada sometime during the 1600s. You see, the people of Newfoundland had a problem. Fishing was a big deal around these parts, it provided both income and sustenance to a large portion of the population, keeping them fed and enabling them to afford whatever it was people in 15th century canada spent their money on...which is all great. The problem was that Canada is cold and fishing generally takes place in or around the water and assuming dying of hypothermia was not the goal that sounds like a pretty unfortunate mix. While researching this I ran across words like ‘frigid’ and ‘icy slurrys’ and ‘sub-zero’ all of which I want nothing to do with.

What the fisherman of Newfoundland needed was a helping hand...or as luck would have it...paw. Dogs had always been an integral part of working life since they were first domesticated 20-40 thousand years ago so the concept was far from new. Most, if not all, of these men probably already had a dog or two who came to work with them regularly. The most popular available breeds was probably the most obvious; the newfoundland. Now Ill probably do a whole episode on these giant majestic slobber factories some other time but for now what is important to know is that while these babies were definitely built for the cold, harsh canadian landscape they are not exactly water-friendly. You see the thick, luscious fur that makes up their coat and keeps them nice and toasty on land has a nasty habit of weighing the animal down with freezing water and ice making them sluggish and uncoordinated. The second option was one of a number of smaller local working breeds brought over by settlers from wherever, most of which lacked the size needed for the labor-intensive job or the ability to deal with the wet, freezing conditions.

How exactly it happened is anyone's guess. Apparently people were too preoccupied with not freezing to death to make a proper record or something. Whether it was a particularly innovative fisherman or a spark shared between a Newfie and an ambitious local working dog over evening scraps is lost to history but either accidental or by design the result was going to change the world forever.

They were called ‘St. John’s Water Dogs’ or sometimes ‘Lesser Newfoundlands’ and they were like an answer to a prayer. Thick, short black coats that trapped heat but repelled water, with a characteristic white medallion on their chest these dogs quickly became some of the most common on the island. Medium sized but stocky they could easily bring in a fishing net or navigate the waters around a fishing boat with their powerful legs, webbed feet, and rudder-like tail. In addition to their physical prowess their friendly nature and intelligence quickly caught the eye of more than a few visitors. Joseph Beete Jutes, a british geologist and naturalist, took notice in his book Excursions In and About Newfoundland During the Years 1839 and 1840 Vol. 1,

"These are the most abundant dogs in the country...They are no means handsome, but are generally more intelligent and useful than the others... I observed he once or twice put his foot in the water and paddled it about. This foot was white, and Harvey said he did it to 'toil' or entice the fish. The whole proceeding struck me as remarkable, more especially as they said he had never been taught anything of the kind."

Now if you have never heard of a breed called the St. John’s water dog there’s probably two reasons for this. First, they don’t exist anymore. They went extinct in the early 1980s largely thanks to a tax meant to encourage sheep herding in the area. It limited the number of dogs a family could have and made owning a canine, particularly a female, to expensive for many locals.

The second reason is that it isn’t actually a breed. It was never officially recognized by any national kennel club and thus no formal breed standards or records were made. Groups of animals who have been selectively breed but lack formal recognition are called landraces and it’s the selective breeding part that differentiates them from random strays or mutts. This also means that any standard breed or landrace is technically a genetically modified organisms which is fun.

Now just because they aren’t physically with us anymore doesn’t mean they haven’t lived on in other ways. You see around the time Jutes was making his excursion, someone else took a faithful trip to the island of Newfoundland. A group of particularly sporty nobles, also from England, saw the Water Dogs at work and decided they absolutely HAD to have one too. These men brought a handful of lucky puppies back with them in hopes of creating the world’s greatest sporting dog...an ambition they actually achieved judging by the resulting breeds continued popularity with hunters and fishermen. The second Earl of Malmesbury was one of these lads and his son is credited as being the very first to begin actively breeding them.

In 1903 the Kennel Club recognized the group as an official breed, and the American Kennel Club did the same in 1917, though they were no longer called the St. John’s Water Dogs. The new breeds name was a homage to the Earl and his son and the original dogs they brought back with them all those years ago. You see the earls liked to show off what their dogs could do to friends and family and would affectionately refer to them as their ‘Labrador Dogs’, apparently uncaring that the canines came from Newfoundland and actually had nothing to do with Labrador. Geographical error or no the name stuck and the Labrador Retriever was welcomed into the club.

Today Labs are the most popular breed in America, and have been since 1991. They are among the most versatile working dogs on the planet, employed as everything from guide dogs to drug sniffers to search and rescue. But more than their intelligence the breed is most famous for their unbelievably friendly temperament, making them fantastic family dogs and popular with young kids.

If all of this sounds like a dream come true there is no shortage of reputable breeders out their, and unfortunately twice as many who arent. Always ALWAYS do your research before getting a dog of any kind, both of the breeder AND the breed. The more knowledge you arm yourself with when going into an interaction like this the better. Now my current dog, and all the dogs in my family, have always been rescues so my interaction with breeders is limited to the couple I have contacted in my current search for a new puppy, and I'm not in the market for a lab specifically, but i can pass on advice i got that helped me immensely. Always look at the parents, meet them if at all possible, and pay attention to temperament. With such a popular breed you have an almost never-ending list of possibilities, so if anything feels off or weird, pick someone else. One of the best ways to start off your search is to find someone with a lab who’s personality and look you like and ask them where they got them from, ask about how much follow-up they did, the application process, ect.

Also pay attention to the KIND of dogs they produce. Now this doesn’t apply to all breeds but with labs and any other breed with such a versatile skill set its important to know what exactly you want your dog to do and what they are being bred for. If you own a lab you may have been asked whether your dog is of the American or the English variety. This can actually have nothing to do with country of origin, a misconception that has led the Labrador Retriever Club (the official breed club as recognized by the AKC) to denounce these terms. What it refers to is the sort of genetic line the dog comes from. American labs or ‘working line’ labs are generally smaller, bred to spend their life out in the fields and focused less on adhering to the strict official breed standard required to win a dog show. English labs refer to ‘show’ or ‘conformation’ lines and generally have the characteristic block head and wide stance. Its a difference of style. So if you see this on a breeders website its always a good idea to confirm if they are referring to origin or style. This is important if you are looking for a particular look as well as activity level. If you just want a dog as a family pet and friend for your kids look for a breeder who specializes in family pets. You dont really need or want to shell out the money for a champion line duck dog or best of show winner if they are going to spend their life lazing about your house.

Knowledge can save you more than just a headache when it comes to puppy shopping, it can also save you quite a bit of money. Its kind of like shopping for a very cute car you also have to feed. Now I am not saying that breeders are sleezy or are trying to pull the wool over your eyes Most breeders are in the game for the love of the breed and out of a desire to spread that love. but sales is, at the end of the day, about making money. Knowing what is and isn’t ‘special’ or whether the asked amount is actually what your possible pup is worth can be priceless. The best example of this is the so called ‘silver’ lab. I have personally run into a number of people who have what they proudly proclaim is a ‘purebreed’ lab with a rare genetic mutation that gives their dog a gray or silver coat. Now, im not in the business of being the breed police and am not going to argue with them if thats what they want to think...but that doesn’t make it any less wrong. The only official colors, per the Labrador Retriever Club, that labs come in are yellow, black, and chocolate. It is genetically impossible for a pure bred labrador to be silver. Thats just science. If you want to read the exact genetic breakdown of why this is impossible, the Labrador Retriever Club as a pretty cool article I will post in my sources. Most likely what they have is a dog with a weimaraner somewhere in their family tree. And if thats what you want, or you just really like the look of the silver coat thats awesome. I mean weimaraners are crazy but thats neither here nor there. Im a huge fan of mutts, I think they are the best house pets anyone could ask for...just know thats what you are getting. A big part of a pure breed price tag is the fact that they are a pure breed, they have papers and a lineage, a carefully crafted history. Again, not to look down on mutts or silver labs, i'm just reporting the facts.

Physically labs are generally pretty healthy, if obtained from a reputable and responsible breeder, but there are a few things you want to look out for. Labs are at a higher risk of issues like hip or elbow dysplasia, heart disease, and some eye issues then some other breeds. The National Breeders Club recommends members test for genetic carriers of these issues in their breeding stock and if you dont see anything mentioned on a breeders website I would definitely ask. Bloat is another consideration, though this applies to any deep chested larger breed, and is immediately life threatening so talking to your vet about signs and symptoms is advisable. They also love food and will put pretty much anything in their mouths so keeping careful watch of their weight is a must, following the recommended feeding amounts on your food bag.

There are a couple more things to keep in mind when looking into any breed you might want to welcome into your home. First, Grooming. Labs are double coated, with a water-resistant top coat and a warm, thick undercoat...which means they shed. Like a lot. So weekly, sometimes daily brushing is advisable but even with that expect to be doing more then a little vacuming and lint rolling...or be like me and just embrace you new fur covered life. Now I dont have a lab, but Tallmadge is a 110 lbs shedding machine who, like a lab, has a coat that sheds year round. But there is a point, usually twice a year, where a dog will blow out its coat, or shed away their winter or summer coat to make way for the next seasons hot new look. Luckily other then that and your regular nail trimming and teeth brushing (yes, you should be brushing your dogs teeth) they dont really need a whole lot of grooming. Maybe a bath every-so-often when they roll in something particularly gross or after a day splashing in the local river but thats it.

Another big consideration is exercise. On their website the AKC or american kennel club makes the labrador retriever as needing a LOT of exercise and this is a recommendation I would take to heart for a number of reasons outside of the obvious health benefits of an active lifestyle. While labs sound like the perfect pup for any situation keep in mind that they are a working breed at heart. They thrive in an active and engaging environment, requiring regular outlets for their energy and intellect.

Lab puppies and young adults are known to be some of the most destructive breeds if left understimulated. Im talking about demolishing furniture, eating clothes, digging up years, destroying walls. Yeah. walls. I had a student whose family finally brought me after he chewed through their back-door and took himself for a walk around the neighborhood while they were away. Most people blame this kind of activity on separation anxiety, and while I am NOT an animal behaviorist and thus cant definitely say it isn't signing your dog up for a training class or joining a local walking club is WAY cheaper then shelling out for a behaviorist.

Now, the two main arguments I hear from lab parents are 1. We walk EVERYDAY sometimes for MILES and he still is crazy, or 2. I would LOVE to take him for a walk but Its a nightmare! She drags me around and barks at everyone! So, while walking is probably the most obvious form of exercise, or playing fetch or going to a dog park ect...these activities often ignore a huge part of why your dog might be acting out...they are BORED. Like with most intelligent breeds, if you don't give them something to occupy their mind, they will find a way to occupy it themselves.

Puzzle toys or a kong are a great way to keep your dog engaged and focused, but the best way to work out their brain is something very VERY near to my heart. You guessed it...Training. But keep im mind their high trainability is a reference to their potential not their natural state, meaning you must teach them what you want them to do and if you do that they will generally excel.

As a trainer I have had the pleasure of working with a number of labs, both from puppyhood on and starting as adults. It is always best to begin training as early as possible, BEFORE they can build any bad habits. Labs are mouthy, so working on proper socialization is a must. They are also known for being pretty glutinous, so treat based positive reinforcement generally works wonders, but focusing softening their mouth aka taking treats nicely, will save your hands a LOT of accidental pain later on. I also like to start working on leash manners a little earlier then normal with a lab. Breed standard for a full grown male lab is 65-80 ibs but its not uncommon to end up with a 100lbs + dog. Getting them to mind on a leash is WAY easier when you're not fighting against that much muscle. This is particularly true if you don't like the idea of using tools like prong collars or remote trainers and also want to keep your arms.

A 10 min training session can be as good as a 30-40 min walk when it comes to tiring your pup out, and while I would love it if you went out and supported a local trainer or joined a training club its something you CAN do by yourself at home. Trick training is fun and there are tons of sights out there with great ideas and step-by-step instructions. You can even earn your dog official titles as a trick dog from the comfort of your own home! Or teach your dog to do something useful. Tallmadge can get his own leash, my shoes, and his food bowl on command and learned how in just three evenings (and hes not the most...motivated...dog in the world) Finally there is the fantastic world of dog sports, which I will be doing an episode on fairly soon but in the mean-time feel free to shoot me an email if you want any more info because I could quite literally talk about this stuff forever...which is why I have...you know...a podcast…

Before I start wrapping this up i do want to remind everyone that dogs are all individuals. This has been a quick overview of a breed made up of millions of different dogs with different personalities, temperments, and experiances. They are living creatures with their own minds and feelings, and though it is very easy to think of them as possessions or to anthropomorphize their actions or motivations its important to take a step back and realize what you are doing. Everything a dog does, it does from a reason, free or malice or alterior motive. As a trainer I see this constantly both in pet parents and in myself, and I see just how dangerous this thinking can be. Dogs of all shapes and breeds are surrendered to shelters for behavioral problems their former owners where simply to lazy to address or because they weren’t willing to make the simple changes to there lifestyle required. There are perfectly legitimate reasons for surendering a pet, and my heart goes out to anyone who has had to make that choice and know that what im about to say does not apply to you…

Getting a dog is a huge commitment. It is a living, breathing creature who relies on you for everything. If you make the choice to go out and get a dog, weither it be from a breeder or a shelter, you had better be ready to put in the work. If there is something your dog does that you dont like, its up to you to fix it. Go out, get help, do the work. There is no easy solution, not magic pill. Dropping your dog off with a trainer and letting them put in the time will NOT solve your problems. I am a professional, everything I do and say, everything down to the way I stands or how I give treats is carefully cultivated and refined over years, both by me and those I have learned from. Yes, I can help lay those foundations, but unless you pay attention, unless you are consistant and continue where I left off, it will be useless. Training is a process, not a destination. The work is never really finished. And if that sounds like a headache you would rather not deal with...dont get a dog. I have yet to meet a single untrainable dog...only untrainable parents.

But honestly there are very few of those too. Most people simply dont know how or what to do, which is what im here for! On April 29th the Washington Post reported that the University of Pennsylvania is working on training 8 Labrador Retrievers to sniff out SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. According to the article, which I will link to in the show notes, it hasn’t been proven that this is possible yet but there is a fair amount of precedent. Dogs have been trained to sniff out things like drugs and other contraband and can even be used to detect other illnesses like malaria!

Lab mixes are pretty common for obvious reasons and come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors. Its not weird to walk into a rescue shelter and see many of these sweet mutts. But the more you meet the more you may notice a bit of an odd pattern...you see the most common color found among labrador mixes is not the classic yellow, its black. And yes labs do come in black, but per breed standard its a solid, unblemished black. These pups have a tiny splash of another color, a color not associated with labs at all...white. Specifically a small patch of white on their chest, often referred to as a medallion...giving them a look very similar to a particular, now extinct landrace of dogs who’s friendly disposition and sportsman’s spirit captured the attention of a british nobleman and, through its descendants, still captivates the world.

fe3h blogging 3 because i have no self control

wah. I don’t want to start BL because that would mean leaving Edelgard and Claude. I don’t care about dimirti as much. part 1 dimitri is so earnest though

i think blue lions was written first. 1 the two monthly missions that have to do with students’ families are both in BL (Ashe and Sylvain). I didn’t notice this at first because for some reason I got it into my head that one of them was in the black eagles and so i thought every house would have a “welp and now we kill your [insert family member]”. 2 two fairly important side characters at the monastery are related to BL students (Annette and Mercedes). Chapter 3 actually provides a intro for all the lords in their respective routes. Edelgard’s scene is serious but not especially sad, instead you can feel te fire burning within Edlegard and the scene shows how she’s willing to sacrifice the lives of those under her if she believes she is doing the right thing. Claude’s is actually quite light hearted in tone after the first few lines and it highlights the mystery surrounding him and makes him seem very sketchy. Chapter 3 in Blue Lions though is really sad. Ashe my baby boy. Here there is a sense of tragedy in the post battle scene.

My opinion of Gillbert slowly plummets as my opinion of Annette continues to rise. I mean absentee emotionally distant father? He doesn’t deserve Annette and her mom. Ok during Dimitri and Annettes C support about how being siblings would be nice, I’m like ummmmm you two are less than half a year apart. Annette is just small not young. its actually off putting to see Sylvain act like a decent person in Dedue’s supports. Underneath all that philandering and shitting on women, he’s actually a good dude and pretty smart, but wow I want to hit him sometimes. wow Felix is actually nice* to Annette. *well nicer anyways. He’s not mean to her. the “fight” Annette and Mercedes have in their B support is so stupid and now I need to get to the timeskip for it to resolve? wow.

I think Dedue like trauma latched (is that a thing???? I should go look up ptsd sometime) on to Dimitri. Like found the first person that showed a bit of kindness for him and clamped down. He sees himself as a tool of Dimitri, his entire existence is for the sake of another person. He hates Faergus for what it has done to Duscur but instead of helping to enact meaningful resistance against Faergus, he latched on to the first person that didn’t treat Duscur like scum. That’s not rational. Come to think of it everyone in blue lions need therapy like more so than the other houses (who could also use some)

And here I thought Sylvain was the one with self-worth problems, turns out Dimitri’s a part of the gang too. Its like he can’t see any good parts of himself. He is very earnest and straightforward. Also “you didn’t appear to be suppressing you emotions” huh really. not a topic you’re familiar with yourself Dimitri? Can’t remember if I’ve said this or not but why is Dimitri the only one to have a modified armored uniform.

I always thought it hilarious that Lonato got Catherine’s name wrong, but no there was more to it than that.

Also I don’t get why Annette or her mom couldn’t just go to Garreg Mach. She didn’t need an excuse to visit a place, its not like you need a visa to enter. The school of sorcery and then officers academy sounds like such a roundabout way of doing things

I wonder what name Claude ascends the throne under. He likely only took up the name von Riegan upon entering Fodlan and probably used his father's family name before that. I wonder if Claude has an Almyran given name. If he tried to claim the throne under the name Claude von Riegan it’d kinda be an insult like spitting in the face of his people and that wouldn't gain him any favor in Almyra. But would he go under a fully Almyran name? He would be a more popular king showing himself as one of the people. However, I imagine that he'd keep the name Claude. Maybe he grew up with his parents calling him that maybe its important to him now that he's lived under it for ~7 formative years of his life. Coming to fodlan marked the beginning of claude carrying out his plan's to achieve his dream. Its also a period where he is devoid of his parent's guidance and presence. I'd also just say 16-23 is a pretty important period of identity building in a person's life. Its under the name claude that he finds people he wants to walk down this path with. Its an acknowledgement of both sides of his heritage. I wonder if his choice would be different in a non Verdant Wind route.

What if timelines get mixed up and 23 year old felix gets sent to right before glenn dies. 23 yo felix get teleported to an alternate universe or something and meets 13 yo felix. Felix angsts that glenn seems so young and how he's now older than him, maybe yells at his dad a bit and has a chat with 13yo felix.And then idk gets teleported back? Or worse gets trapped so now there 2 felixes running around and i dont know how thats going to affect the time line

Ashe would make the perfect court asassin. He has enough rank/political clout to get access to targets and its not suspicious if he is in proximity to them.But he's not important enough that anyone would pay attention to him. He's a knight and the lord of castle gaspard at most. He's like a minor lord not a duke or anything. Ashe has enough social and emotional intelligence to navigate social situations. He's easy to get along with and has that harmless sweet boy demeanor to him. He already is good at lock picking, sneaking around, and bows. All he need is some training from Shamir and Claude and Ashe would be unstoppable. The only thing stopping this is that Ashe is a genuine good sweet boy and hates deception. My boy is going to be a knight!

You know what Dimitri needs? A Raphael. Put the one who cant deal with his own emotions next to the emotionally mature on and maybe Dimitri will finally get the help he needs. They can train together too

The more I learn about Dimitri’s childhood the more I’m like what the hell is wrong with Faergus??? The lifting rocks makes sense because Dimitri is ridiculous strong, but having a kid run all night in heavy armor, or waking an 11 year old up in the middle of the night and having them catch deer. ????? Also Flayn’s cooking and Dimitri’s taste buds are a good match. “Look at that young maiden wielding a giant lance. How adorable!” I mean that does sound pretty adorable actually.

Sometimes I think about how the officer’s academy is run as an institution and then I get a headache. The player character students we have number around 25 but you see npcs everywhere around garreg mach and there’s enough of them to fill a ball room. In talking to the students, a lot of them imply this is their first year at garreg mach which would imply that the officer’s academy’s course is 1 year long. This is also supported by the age range of the cast from 15 to 22 with most at 16-17 at the beginning of the year instead of having the younger and less experienced students at a different grade level. With a multigrade system unlikely though, how can we explain the number of students? There are 3 possibilities. First is that the class sizes are huge (conservative estimate is like 60/class, probably more based on cut scene estimates) with full day lecture classes. second is that there are only half day classes with half the students in morning class and the other half in afternoon class. Third is that there are actually more professors than shown.

The Central and Western Churches use the exact same rhetoric as shown in the Ashe-Catherine and Flayn-Seteth paralogues. We are divine and just and you are all heathens and sinners. Goddess this Goddess that. And both of them claim justifications for invasions under this rhetoric. Oh its not that you are politically inconvenient to me its that the Goddess says you are evil and I can’t argue with the Goddess so I have a moral obligation to strike you down. I wonder how many of them are actually delusional religious and how many are just using it as an excuse/cover.

I was thinking star or sun for claude because despite/because of everything he's an idealist. Like the sun guy in p3 akainori??? He take all that pain and tries to make the world a better placeInstead of a picture book though claude tries to revolutionize the worldAhhhhh I love this. theres so many narrative you can pull from these types of thingsDevil is like struggling with vice. Hubert's character arc deals withhis trouble connecting with people, his loyalty to edelgard, and what he has to do. Maybe justice? Rationality, jusgement, and themes of what is justice. Especially his convo with Hanneman that calls into question the execution of his fatherSeteth is probably hierophant as he's that one strict follow the rule book teacher we'vr all had. He also repeRepresents the chuch, authority, and the establishment (initially)Mercedes is a nurturing motherly type person with fits empress well. I take back the priestess statement from earlier. I think mercedes struggles are more external than internal (priestess is like more personal relationshio to spirituality and intuition). Wheel of fortune is an option? ?? Mercedes was born with a crest the her house fell and her step dad only wanted her mom for thr lamine crest. Then the church. then her adoptive dad wanting her for political gain theb the academy. A lot has been outside her control. Byleth is another good option for obvious reasons Edelgard is another good one given what happened in her childhood. If thing had been different she would be living a different life. Emperor could be another good one fore her since its about imposing your will on your surroundings

Dimitri’s stupid. I mean he’s using reasoning, but he’s jumping to conclusions when equally or more probable options are still there. I wouldn’t exactly believe Edelgard’s words either, but its clear Flame Emperor and TWSITD have their own separate agendas. Dimitrii’s “edelgard is the root of all my sufferings” is like the same reasoning as edelgards “the church and its systems are the root of all suffering in Fodlan” but worse, at least Edelgard is half right.

Its honestly disturbing how willing Dedue is to erasing his autonomy and personhood.

He just making up excuses for his bloodlust now. “they” are “evil” so its ok to slaughter them. also yay monarchists, is gilbert actually relevant in this route???. I really hate Faergus. why are all of you following dimitri on his suicide run. why would you let the man clearly not in a good mental place decide the course of the army????

I was imagining Ferdinand and Sylvain interacting and Sylvain probably hates Ferdie's guts and then in got dark first Ferdinand dislikes nobles that aren't noble so he'd probably disapprove. sylvain would see sheltered ferdinand and want to make him suffer as he has. not to mention Ferdinand ... always looks forward, he's always trying to improve himself and I can see sylvain resenting that and himself. on the flip side both hold the chavalier position in their house, and they both appreciate the fine arts. like ferdinand is out here being an obnoxious good boy championing everything sylvain hates

the only thing i likea about faerhgus is their flag. which is just so aesthetically pleasing

petra and edelgard are foils for each other. they are princesses from opposite sides of a past war. both are dedicated to their nations and seek to become the person their country deserves. both are very driven. each was for a period of their life removed from their home country. but their positions are very different from one another. edelgard and petra also have a low key friendly rivalry where they motivate each other to strive for more. they should have had an A support

I've been avoiding jeritza because his character concept seems like an edgier dimitri. So I'm just here to say i like his deaign. Partly covered face + long hair? Its like the devs are out for me by pairing that with a personality I don't get along with

i know someone here was plotting out a persona 5 cross over, but the more I think of it, dimitri belongs in persona 4. that game's all about facing the parts of your personality that you don't want anyone else to see. I mean feral dimitri is basically his shadow, that part of him that he rejects

A supports/total supports Claude: 10/13 Sylvain 4/16 So here's a comparison of how their trust issues affect their relationships. Claude might be incredible closed off and even in his A supports, still be with holding important information, but given enough time he can still potentially bond with a great number of people. While on the other hand Sylvain has destroyed his ability to form meaningful connections with people, so half of his A supports are people he already has a bond with. Sylvain is a bitter resentful boy and its getting in the way of his life. oh those supports are excluding byleths

I really wish I could expierence the game in its full state. What we have in yhis reality is like a shadow of what it could have been. I just want cf and vw to be their complete, best selves. Of all the routes, AM was written first and the only one that was completed and reached its full potential. VW and SS feel like half a route with of the other routes patched in to fill the gaps. all of byleths lines in VW are suspiciously about rhea. In some of the cutscenes theres graphical errors where the soldiers are wearing chuch colors instead of alliance. Some parts of VW were clearing written fot SS and shoved in last minute. Like the Edelgard scene. That scene makes mire sense in SS where byleth was her house leader, but not as much is VW where you barely talk to her. which is a shame because that’s one of my favorites. Byleth's lines make sense in SS which is about rhea and saving the churcv but not in VW which is about whats really happening and Claude. The same of course applies to SS, where seteth just says Claude's lines, and its so weird. And yet VW and CF are the strongest conceptually for me (or at least tickle my personal preferences). I also don't think any route should be seen in the absence of the others. Its is all 4 route together that show what the game is about. Focusing in on any one route is an incomplete picture. Verdant Wind was so good and yet it could have been so much better. That gap between the potential and the actual both angers and saddens me. Also VW is the most big picture of all the routes. Instead of diving in, it takes a step back for perspective. You can see the war as a whole instead of just what's happenibg with faergus or adrestia. You see what's actually happening. That its not adrestria vs faregus but the remnants of an ancient war still affecting modern politics from the dominance of the churcv to the agarthans who gave been stirring up shit for centuries. Despite all its flaws Verdant Wind is also my favorite. Its not better than the other routes... but its spirit managed to reach my crusty old heart. Its like an ugly puppy. I just see all the places it could be better... (gronder field, and that ending??)

The only way the interior is temperate is if wind is goinf north to south and gwtring trapped by tje central mountain range. I dont think garreg mach is up in the himalayas

I didn't expect ashe to be my mvp this time round... but he is. Byleth and dimitri both have good strength but are squishy. Ashe's range is insane. He gets that skill that expands range + longbow + deadeye + horse + ring. And if thats not enough canto gets him back out of range. He crits on every other hit and has like a 60% crit rate with a killer bow. He kills everything in one turn. Armor units? Magic bow. Anything else he doubles and crits.

So the derdriu chapter in AM.... claude isnt as heartbroken aa in CF but he's not in a good place. I think he's mourning/coping with loss (the loss of possibilites, future, what could have been etc.) just like he was in CF. It also makea me think he's planning on invading fodlan in the future. I will need to think over this.
