Are we sure Sandralynn wasn't cursed with like. Shit taste?
It's def a real mixed bag, though I think besides Bobby it's more just wild choices than straight up bad choices.
Bobby Dawn: Regular Freak. Liar, Frumpy, Wrong. Cheated on his wife and then ruined another woman's life over it. This is not a a ranking so I'm not giving him a score but I almost wish it was so I could give him a comically low number. Actually, there aren't any rules here. I still can. Negative infinity and kick rocks. If I was Sandra Lynn's friend I would be *begging* for her to love herself (or at least have a better sense of self preservation) and RUN GIRL.
Gilear Faeth: Gilear was a successful, hot elf before his loser energy kicked in because of his curse. Wasn't he like a diplomat or something? Like, Gilear now is a loveable loser but Gilear then was probably kind of a catch. And hell, Fabian's mom likes loser Gilear and she's a pretty hot commodity herself. As Sandra Lynn's friend I would be doing cartwheels if she moved on from Bobby to be with Gilear. 1000% improvement. And, for what it's worth, so is loser Gilear. Most guys would be frankly.
Gorthalax: Def seems a bit reactionary to go from a cleric of Sol to one of Sol's fallen angels turned devils. But Gorthalax is a nice guy from what we've seen and as a devil of gluttony he prob can conjure up some killer date night food. I think that if I could get over the shock of him being a MAJOR DEVIL, as Sandra Lynn's friend, I could warm to the idea. And he's not Bobby Dawn so instant improvement. However, as there was infidelity involved this would be another GIRL WHAT? reaction from me. But again, less about the guy himself, more about the decision to cheat.
Jawbone: OK so the thing about Jawbone is that I think he's great and a super good person and he's Brennan's semi-self insert so of course I love him. But he would also be an insane person to know IRL. Like, the stories he tells so casually. I think I'd be like, uh are you sure about this one? But he seems to have at least mostly chilled out now that he's working with kids and I think he's a really great guy. There's maybe a risk of contracting Lycanthropy but I'm sure they're using whatever protection you use for that. Solid guy as long as you're cool with his past.
Garthy: When Garthy was introduced, 80% of the fandom was instantly thirsting over them so objectively, "Garthy is hot" is a pretty mainstream opinion. And even if you (like myself) were in the 20% of people not thirsting over them, they're still very clearly a good person between raising Ayda and being super into self care (I loved the scene with them and Mercer's char in PoL). Also they're just really cool conceptually. So again, very normal person for Sandra Lynn to wanna hook up with. The problem, once again, is the infidelity. Especially because Jawbone was willing to have an open relationship! He closed the relationship for her! She took an L here for no reason!
So, to recap: shitty guy, good guy (who was cursed), devil (who is a good guy* and also an affair partner), good guy (with a wild past), and hot pirate (who is a good person* and also an affair partner).
*I don't remember if they knew Sandra Lynn was in a relationship when they were hooking up with her and am not factoring that into my judgement.
Besides Bobby Dawn, the rest of her choices were pretty OK (unless I'm forgetting stuff). Wild and with no obvious connecting thread--she absolutely has a rogue's gallery to rival Batman's--but it seems like the problems she had with relationships came down more to stuff other than, "She picked an objectively bad guy."
She really has the most inconsistent taste ever. I can't even begin to categorize what her type is. Gilear and Garthy should never been on any list together besides, "NPCs with G names."

My Best Friend (who has never seen Supernatural) Writes an Episode of Supernatural
Everything they know about this godforsaken show is based on my poetry and my insane, autism fuelled ramblings. Enjoy.
[Opening Scene in a forest with a car. Also Sam and Dean are there.]
Sam: I told you not to fuck with my car!
Dean: Fuck you, I didn't fuck with your car.
Sam: This is why dad beat you as a child.
[The two begin fighting, shouting unintelligible insults at each other which show their deeply messed up psyches as a result of their poor childhood.]
[A vague monster appears, grabbing Dean tightly by the throat. He comes to him as a really really hot guy, and Dean actually doesn't seem to mind.]
Monster: I know what you are. I know what you are really looking for. I know what you have been waiting for for all of these years.
[Dean's eyes trail to the monster, looking at him brotherly and admiring his totally sick bod.]
[A beat. Dean is about to open his mouth, his eyes trailing from the monster's to his lips before-]
Monster: A brother.
[Dean's expression falls. He's not so bricked up now, and in fact seems disgusted. Was it himself he was disgusted with? Or was it... his father? He goes to the nearest tree and punches it, his knuckles bleeding. He watches the blood fall. He thinks he deserves it.]
[Cas appears, out of nowhere or something, or maybe he walks. It's probably a bit awkward at first to be honest. Dean is crying, or maybe he's not. He never cries, so it's a bit hard to tell.]
[Cas looks at Dean with a vulnerable expression. He looks like the epitome of an open wound. Too soft for his own good. He puts a hand on Dean's, who almost seems to flinch at the touch.]
[Another beat. The two are staring into each other's eyes. But it's not romantic, they're just good friends.]
[Except not really. It's hard to love someone who doesn't want to know the truth about themselves.]
Cas: Are you okay, baby doll?
[Dean is angry again.]
Dean: I'm fine. Get your little fmaggot fingers off of me.
Cas: Why won't you let me treat you like a companion?
[Dean cries at the touch. Or maybe he doesn't.]
Dean: I'm not worthy of healing.
Cas: But I love you. We're brothers.
[Dean is bricked up rn, and this is a total mood killer.]
Dean: We're not brothers.
[Sam is just kind of there. With a girl or some gaping hole in his heart just like his brother.]
Cas: We're companions. We are life partners. We are civil mates forever.
[There is a lot of sexual tension right now, but it's actually a bit awkward and quite uncomfortable. The shuffling of Sam's feet on the leaves is a pathetic space filler.]
[A beat.]
Cas: You're my sweet cheese, man.

Why Darius is a much better person than Fandom gives him credit for, and why it matters.
We have all seen them. About this scene.
81872698236412 memes, comics and textposts where Darius doesn’t give a damn when Luz is in mortal danger, but suddenly starts caring when he hears that Hunter is also trapped.
Now, Fandom seems to love that take, but I loathe it. Gets under my skin, drives me up the wall, can’t fucking stand it.
Why?
Because if Darius were truly the kind of person who is totally cool with letting a little girl die as a result of his own fuck-up, then he’d make a terrible father for Hunter.
The main point of Hunter’s character is that he is horrifically traumatised because he has spent his life with a guardian who is a serial killer of children. Thus, for his recovery, it’s absolutely necessary that his new guardian is a compassionate person. The last thing Hunter needs is a new guardian who is also cool with causing child death.
If Darius were truly the kind of man who think “LOL fuck your kid only mine is worth saving!” then it doesn’t matter if he loves Hunter, he simply wouldn’t be emotionally equipped to take care of a traumatised kid.
LUCKILY DARIUS ISN’T THAT KIND OF MAN.
Here is the evidence that Darius was not telling Raine to abandon Luz.
1) Darius was shocked to learn that Hunter was trapped. But there is absolutely no reason for him to believe that Luz was trapped while Hunter wasn’t.
The last time Darius saw Hunter, Hunter and Luz were practically entangled together over the circle, so why would only Luz be trapped?
Oh, but maybe Darius and Raine went back to the alley and saw Eda leave alone!
Sure, that could have happened. Except that Hunter left both his artificial staff and his mask in the alley, so if anything going back there would have made it even more obvious that something bad happened TO HUNTER.
On top of that, Hunter’s palisman was in Eda’s hair as she left, and he definitely wouldn’t have let her take Flapjack willingly.
2) Darius had repeatedly asked Raine to recruit Eda, but Raine said no because they wanted her to be safely away from the battle.
So, first of all, Darius wouldn't actually care about revealing himself to Eda. The only reason he is keeping her out of the loop is out of respect for Raine’s wish to keep her safe.
Darius knows that Eda's curse is absolutely necessary to stop the Day Of Unity, but still chooses to stay away from her for her safety despite knowing full well that without her they are at a massive disadvantage. The whole point of the plan to enter Belos’ mind (an insanely reckless plan with very little chance of gaining anything) was that Darius and Raine were desperate to find any possible intel to figure out a way to stop Belos without Eda’s help. And, after that plan failed, Eda was their only hope.
So, no, Darius wouldn’t give a damn about “blowing his cover” with Eda. He is keeping hidden to protect her, not himself.
Second, if Luz died in Belos' mind, Eda would immediately charge at the castle in a roaring rampage of revenge and get killed, making the whole attempt to keep her safe null and void.
3) Here is what Dana Terrace says about Darius in Cissy Jones’ stream about the S2 Finale.
Even if he's still like, a little chaotic, like he has his own plans, like... "even if people get hurt, it's only the small ones" he says, he'll say stuff like that, but at the end of the day he has his priorities, and his priorities are to help people and to care for those that he loves.
That doesn’t sound like the kind of guy who’d watch a little girl get dragged into mortal danger because of his own actions, and go “eh, not my problem!”
That sounds like the guy who sacrificed his day off (presumably his one day off in a year, if Head Witches have the same workload as people in the Emperor’s Coven) to make sure that some kidnapped students were returned safely home.
IN CONCLUSION:
Most likely, Darius and Raine realised that something bad had happened to the kids and were investigating, and Darius stopped Raine from getting too close to the Owl House because he wanted them to be cautious for Eda’s sake, but when he heard that his boy was in immediate danger he freaked out and almost threw all caution to the wind.
Darius cares the most about Hunter because he clearly loves the boy, BUT he wouldn’t have abandoned Luz either. Because Darius is fundamentally a good person, and that’s why he should adopt Hunter.

literally gaslighted will graham throughout season one. also induced seizures, committed major medical malpractice, allowed brain fever to occur, then promptly framed him for murder and attempted to convince him that he had done it. 10/10 insane gay behaviour. gatekeeps the serial killing community by repeatedly murdering other serial killers (tobias budge, that weird racist eye guy, probably other people). also gatekeeps the dante community, also with murder. girlboss in everything he does. the cannibal puns, shattering the fourth wall by looking at the camera, the camp gayness……… the list goes on.
The entire plot is him gaslighting will and gatekeeping various things from various characters and he girlbosses his way through murder and cannibalism

hi!! I loved your anime recommendations, especially the ones about romance, I watched them all and I agree with you on them! so I wanted to ask you if you have more recs on the same genre :) or just ones that you really like please! thank you in advance!
Hello !!!! thank you so much for the ask !! I’m happy you liked the recs :) I’d like to know more about your thoughts on them if you're comfortable because they are some of my favorites,,
anyways, I’ve taken a break from anime for a while, but I do have a few more recs for you if you haven’t already seen them:
(this is a very weird mix of anime btw, the themes can jump from complete fluffy goodness to emotional damage so sorry in advance for the very mixed bag I have constructed for you)
1. Sasaki to Miyano
I love this anime so much, it’s so wholesome and it’s always refreshing to me to see lgbtq+ pairings that aren’t absolutely toxic. It follows a boy named Miyano and he slowly starts gaining feelings for Sasaki and coming to terms with his sexuality. All of the characters are super lovable too which is always a plus. Its short, light on angst, and a super cute watch!
(Genre: Slice of Life, Romance / 13 Episodes)
2. Orange
Orange put me through some things I’m not gonna lie. It was a very emotional watch for me and that’s why it’s so high up on the list. it’s a bit of a slower anime and it has a lot of layers, but I really enjoyed it personally. It kind of had similar vibes to My Little Monster, but it does have a darker plot. It also has a cool time travel/sci-fi twist without making it to technical (just how I like it). You can really feel for a lot of the characters and I think it makes for a very captivating story. I would recommend it to anyone.

3. Umibe no Etranger/The Stranger by the Shore
This is a movie, but it’s absolutely stunning. The art and animation is so cool and as an artist I really found myself appreciating the amount of detail. Every scene is gorgeous. It takes place on an island where two people re-connect and fall in love. There’s angst, happiness, and a really pretty vibe to the whole thing. It’s not my favorite, but I do think it’s worth a watch.
(Genre: Drama, Romance)
4. Beastars
okay hear me out-- This anime is a little out there, but genuinely really good. The characters being animals threw me off, but the story and the world is insanely well planned and thought out and I was hooked from episode one. It’s definitely not your typical romance, in fact it’s barely a romance, but its definitely present and a part of the the main storyline. It has dark themes and the storytelling is really good. I give this anime an 11/10 and I say that with my full chest. It's just really different from other shows and my pattern-scouting brain can normally guess the plot of an anime by episode three, but not this one, I genuinely had no idea where it was going.
(Genre: Drama, " Coming-of-age Drama Fantasy” / 2 Seasons)
5. Horimiya
Just a silly little anime that I did really like. Sometimes I like taking a break from stories that really drag me into the plot and the emotion and just watch lighthearted things that can take my mind off stress for a little bit, and this anime falls into that category. The characters are very modern and the story was actually really refreshing so if you're looking for something like that then this is definitely an anime you should consider watching,, the art style is also gorgeous.

6. Romantic Killer
A funny/lighthearted anime to mix in with the group incase you would rather save yourself from any angst. It was corny and fun to watch and the art style is really bright and pretty. I also really liked the character designs. I really had to give the anime a good fighting chance, but I did like it after a few episodes. It follows a girl who finds herself stuck in all sorts of stereotypical/trope type romantic scenarios with multiple love interests and she’s just like “this is a no from me” the entire time and it made for a fun watch. It helped take my mind off the day to day, and it’s nice when a show can do that.

Drop your dexter thoughts so I finally have a reason to watch the show 🦍 blease I need more shows to watch
first of all michael c hall got a fat ass and personally i think that alone warrants a watch but maybe thats just me
secondly, the utter DERANGEMENT happening behind the scenes like the two leads were playing adopted brother and sister but dated and got married irl and then divorced before the show ended AND THEN CAME BACK TOGETHER FOR THE LIMITED SERIES FIX IT ENDING LAST YEAR which i cannot fully get into why that was so insane without spoiling major plot points but just know i was having a fit last year lmfao

dexter morgan. sociopathic serial killer to some. poor little meow meow baby girl to me. having said this, cannot stress enough how much he ruins everyones lives around him. and he pays for it dearly. and the journey is delicious (and controversial to some. i however dont have beef with the original series finale but again... cant get into without spoilers)
ALSO ITS ABOUT THE CODEPENDENCY BETWEEN DEXTER AND DEB I LITERALLY CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! also... yes they are adopted siblings. yes they have weird psychosexual energy so like.... if youre gonna watch this show you gotta commit lmao because when i tell you their relationship will have you on the floor clawing your hair out feeling gaping wounds that will never heal... or maybe thats just me
and to FURTHER the fucked up family dynamics you got harry, their dad, who is a ghost in the show serving as dexters conscious and thats a whole fucking bag to unpack because harry done FUCKED UP his son in irreparable ways (and also deb less directly but like... whew babygirl....)
basically do you love fucked up families? do you love serial killing? do you love bright pastel miami aesthetics? lots of blood? innocent people getting caught in the crossfire of an easily escapable fate had they simply made different life choices? though sometimes its beyond their control sometimes they were dragged into it unknowingly.... this is the show for you
its just... people getting worse and worse and worse. but its also a comedy. i will not elaborate.

okay since i'm on my bullshit and people seem at least intellectually interested in the idea here's what i've got for tatum prescott-loomis:
sidney opts to keep the baby despite everything really bc she's just so sick of death and she hopes this can be like, a silver lining and such you know?
for max chaos we use my base set up for billy-- just enough about the end is changes to put some reasonable doubt on him being the killer but you know..... you know....... but it does mean he's alive and well to demand access to the kid and Be Insane (derogatory) with sidney about this. the kid is a factor in why on EARTH they'd go to the same college considering everything.
tatum is about 2ish when scream 2 happens. gets kidnapped on the night of the Big Climax by grandma who plans to kill sidney, take the kid and recoop her image by being like "the good grandmother". Deeply Cursed. tatum doesn't super remember all this outside of it being a Core Memory and an underlying mental vibe that plants fears in her.
scream 3, tatum 2 is about 4 and living with her mom in the middle of fucking nowhere. sometimes she lives with dad or he comes and stays with them. it's very insane. sid and billy are both maniacs about safety considering everything tho for different reasons. she's with sidney for the chase scene on the set which is what really puts the fear of god into her. didn't need to see the knife to know he was Evil Bad bc the Core Memory vibes had kicked in lol. for like basically all of scream 3 tho she's pm off screen except for that one bit since you know.... she's fucking 4. that was just bad luck and timing.
Gets shown stab at a sleepover she was invited to EXPLICITLY so the other girls could bully her with this and the whole "your dad's an axe murderer thing" it's honestly so fucking unhinge and experience she doesn't even feel attacked. like when a burn is so bad you don't feel it. mostly just doesn't recover from seeing people pretending to be her parents bone. the mom came in around then and mclost it on the kids and she Went Home. Haunting.
she DOES get the occasional shit at school about who her parents are. this IS a thing.
sid and billy with the most ACCURSED joint custody set up. his wife is the real GOAT here in managing all this drama lol.
scream 4, she's roughly jill's age, a few years younger i think? but like An Teen™. Bleached her hair for a buffy costume for halloween which billy FUCKING HATES SOOOOOO BAD. but sets her up to be marked as "the tatum" of the "remake" jill and charlie are making. went with her mom on the woodsboro book signing trip to visit relatives, see her hometown etc. Mistake. Billy is also here but for his dad's funeral which tatum also probably attends i guess since that's her grandpa rip. ends up brawling with jill at the end to protect her mom. is likely the one who kills her in the hospital too. tells jill to eat shit bc if ANYONE is gonna be the protag of the remake it's THE FRANCHISE BABY. likely after having had some convo at SOME point in the film bit in the hospital or earlier with her dad about killing and you know Just Doing It bc Fuck Em.
Likely has had at least one ghostface solo run. like a ghostface or 2 who gunned for her EXPLICITLY between 4 and 5. by this point she's just really come to accept this is just How Her Life Is and does like martial arts, self defense, weapons training etc. like just full on laurie stro.de/becky mode and prepares to be attacked at any time. naturally she survives this ghostface attack. mom horrified and glad she's safe dad proud about how beast mode she went. tatum just wants a nap.
in her 20s has a go bag that includes a bullet proof vest. basically has her own variation of the "ghostface fit" for when this shit goes down, which is a black track suit with white details. goes for this bc it's made for exercise and gives her some baggyness to obfuscate the vest. kinda makes her look like a prick but hey, it works. yes she has THOUGHT A LOT ABOUT WHAT TO DO WHEN GHOSTFACES CROP UP. IT'S AN EVER PRESENT FEAR IN HER LIFE. AND SHE'S CONSISTENTLY PROVEN TO BE VALID IN HER PARANOIA.
scream 5 and 6. basically kinda go the same as usual but there's EVEN MORE FAMILY DRAMA since she's there and billy's alive and sam's sam. tatum likes sam a lot and has no issues with her but it does cause the first real serious blow out between her and billy. the murder??? she could get past that (insane statement) but cHeAtInG oN mOm?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!1/!??!?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK DAD!!!!!!! 6 includes them reconciling and joining forces to beat the baileys to death with rocks alongside sam and tara. you know family bonding shit.

okay i know i did joke and jest: however, to summarise i didnt find star trek v nearly as egregious as people said it was. ultimately i found it had its funny moments and was a bit of a mess but i had my fun. itd be wrong to say its a ~good~ movie but frankly the way people went on about it you'd think it was some utter disgrace
all that being said: seeing kirk now, even in this opening scene, speak with conviction against the klingons is refreshing as hell after it. like- shatner super obviously did write tff . you can tell with how kirk is just kind of there doing insane shit and saying heroic crap throughout the movie. literally every obstacle is solved with him doing something ridiculous to save the day. its funny as hell BUT now its like ok now we have an actual character back with us god bless, god speed

ARC Review: There Are No Saints by Sophie Lark
3.5/5. Rereleases 10/3/2023.
Vibes: serial killers, cat and mouse, enjoythesilence.mp3, the glorious pretentiousness of the contemporary art world.
Cole Blackwell and Alastor Shaw are rivals in the high-end art scene. They are also rival serial killers. When Mara Eldritch falls into their mutual line of sight, she's attacked by Shaw--and unexpectedly mentored by Cole.
This book... befuddled and bemused me. I'm not sure how I feel about everything. Like, it's camp, and I do love camp, but--there are a couple of specific areas that crossed a certain line for me. Not the murdering, I don't super care about the morality issues in this novel (though I should acknowledge that there are valid arguments made against serial killer romance novels, and while I'm not sure I agree with them 100%, points have been raised). But the dips into the silly.
Quick Takes:
--In terms of writing quality, for much of this book I found it stronger than Brutal Prince. Brutal Prince was a book in which the 21st century mobsters talked like they were closer to West Side Story. In this one, everyone seems... suitably over the top for the subject matter, but not, for the most part, a caricature. I mean, Cole got pretty close at times, but this is a man who butchered an art critic who dogged him, filed his bones down, dipped them in gold, and used them for a sculpture.
I would also add that, as someone not-unfamiliar with the contemporary art scene, I think setting this book in the art world helped its tone immensely. Because honestly? If anyone is going to believably be ridiculously pretentious and incredibly serious about the most ludicrous shit, it's an artist. Shaw and Cole's rivalry gives HARD "Dynasty" vibes, the champagne is SUPER burnt, and it works because these are men who make art that honestly sounds not great and sell it to other men with bad taste for $750K a pop. I believe it.
--One thing that similarly sells the tone of this book is fact that Mara is completely fucking insane. The name "Mara Eldritch" really clues you into this from the jump, and I do love it. And please understand, when I say she's insane, that's a compliment. I really expected a girl who'd be kind of horrified by her serial killer stalker, but Mara's like "I wanna fuck it", with the kind of enthusiasm with which a horny teenage boy approaches any vaguely cylindrical object. Mara's inability to demonstrate basic survival skills beyond worrying about money (and still renting a studio space for $200 a month, which contextually was a steal but if Mara shouldn't spend $12 on dinner, should she really be adding $200 to the monthly bill...?) was kind of charming to me.
Like, by all means this girl should be dead. But for one, like a cockroach, she refuses. For two, I got the impression that Cole was just so fucking confused by how not correctly she handled everything that he just couldn't really kill her. And I'll admit, "local pretentious serial killer is so gobsmacked by woman repeatedly running headfirst into wall that he must have her" is a fun dynamic.
--Like I said, Alastor and Cole are basically Alexis and Dominique, and I support that. I honestly could've used more of Shaw dipping into Cole's path and both of them agreeing that virgins are hella boring.
--Now... where this crossed from camp into ludicrousness for me, to a point where I had to go "okay, some restraint could've been and needed to be shown"... was with tattooing. I know this sounds ridiculous, seeing as these are Art Murderers. But there is a scene in which two people who are very much not experienced with tattooing execute ELABORATE freehand tattoos on each other (and I know they were elaborate, because the book has illustrations--more on that in a minute) and I just. Couldn't. You know, it may be because it's so minor compared to the overall camp of the main plot. It didn't need to happen. I bought into the bone sculpture, but the flawless freehand tattoos done by people who aren't tattoo artists just couldn't pass for me.
I'm not like, mad, but it was so distracting. Freehand tattoos aren't something experienced artists do lightly. It's so easy to fuck up a tattoo. So, seeing as these two characters are nutjobs, I just kind of pictured them walking through the world with the most ridiculous tattoos for the rest of the book, and I couldn't deal.
--As with Brutal Prince, this book is illustrated. I'd say they look a bit better in this copy than the Brutal Prince illustrations did. I'm not mad, I'm good with an illustration.
I'm not as big a fan of the playlist accompanying the novel (complete with a QR code), along with the songs and artists peppered throughout the text. Sophie Lark explains in the note that she's very into music when writing. Respect that. However, I feel that not only supplying a soundtrack for your book but telling readers when to appreciate the songs is... distracting, for one thing. But for another, it takes the reader out of the story and tells them how to feel and when. Your writing should do that. Overall, I think Sophie's writing is capable of doing that. I don't like this method of telling me what to think of a scene or moment.
--On to the content warnings. Yes, Cole and Shaw (Alastor) are serial killers. No, Cole is not a vigilante killer. He just goes "I wanna" and kills people. There is graphic murder on the page. Shaw targets women. Cole does not seem against killing women, but does not have a taste for it as of yet. Mara is attacked by Alastor earlier in the novel; aside from general violence, I would call what happens to her most definitely a sexual assault. She and Cole later have sex in the novel, and during the encounter she tells him "no wait stop" before he moves on to a new experience, and he does not stop. This is not discussed after. The tone of the book is generally dark, though I personally found it more "Evanescence" than "Dexter".
The Sex:
It was fine. It actually take a lot of time for Cole and Mara to start hooking up--and I found multiple scenes in which she teases him and he watches hotter, to be honest, than their sex scene.
It's not because there wasn't interesting stuff going on there. It's because there is an intensely ridiculous anal sex scene. I don't expect anal to be portrayed with perfect accuracy in romance novels. You only have so much time. But this scene was just... beyond. Again, I couldn't deal.
So--if you're curious and not bothered by the subject matter, I'd say give it a shot... provided you have a high tolerance for silliness. Which I do! I didn't have a bad time with this one, I just...... again, was confused. It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger and is part of a duology, so keep that in mind. I'm on to the next book, because I do in fact need to know what happens, so that's a win for Sophie.

Alright so I really stumped myself trying to figure out how to discuss this ep since the show has all of a sudden decided to actually be a soap opera. So I decided to go with Trina/Portia and non-Trina/Portia thoughts lol. In non-Trina/Portia thoughts:
- Attentive Spencer is always something to behold. Spencer trying to calm a defiant, pissed Trina in the background while Portia tries to do damage control with Curtis. Spencer rubbing Trina's back in front of the Ashfords and immediately pulling away when Taggert stepped up (he knows who her real dad is lol). Spencer instinctively following Trina when she was getting ready to go confront her mother in private even though he obviously wasn't going to be able to follow her all the way.
He was so focused on getting a status update from Trina (even though she had only just left!) that he got ambushed by the Golden Trio of Paternalism. He handled said Golden Trio like a champ and respected both Trina's agency and her wishes in his short explanation to them. O particularly loved the way he kept emphasizing "Trina felt" in his explanations. He was letting this group (Curtis and Marshall especially), that likes to act like Trina is too naive to make her own decisions and is just being led all over the place by Spencer, know that Trina was actually taking the lead for all of this. This is ironically the most impulse control we've seen Spencer display and it was in the name of keeping things as calm as possible for Trina.
- Heather, Ryan and Amnesia Esme on the run is fantastic. We owe Heather so much. She gave amnesia Esme an emotional core when she was lacking, she finally got lazy Ryan out of the chair and in rampage mode, she probably killed Rory, and hopefully her escape plan gets rid of the demon spawn one way or another. This woman is a national treasure to me at this point. Ryan back in his element was also super fun to watch as was him announcing to Amnesia Esme that he was her father. I definitely believe she has amnesia now but I still don't see what the point of it is. The actress is playing the fear well but I just think psycho lolita on a rampage with her parents would've been more enjoyable than her being a damsel.
- The main interesting thing I got out of the Maggie scenes is confirmation that Esme sought Ryan out rather than vice-versa. The girl had Maggie who loved her but was so obsessed with biology that she chose her serial killer father over Maggie and then proceeded to do his bidding. Feels crazy to me to leave Esme amnesiac during this because this is the one time where some pov from her on this insane decision would be interesting and I don't even like the girl.
- Austin has definitely done something with Nik's body already because this is like the third time he's stalled Ava on moving it. Ava ruminating over being a survivor above all else will never not be great stuff for me. I love that Ava has a "cover up a murder" black outfit on standby. And I obviously love that Felicia and Ava were going to come together to take down Ryan. Now that Ryan has shown up on Ava's doorstep, I hope Ava gets her glock and kills that man. I love that Felicia is all over this because she has been regularly reminding us of how badass she is of late and as the og victim of Ryan, it's only fair that she gets to be in the thick of what I'm predicting is probably his last stand (🥺).
- Pikeman this, Pikeman that, call me when someone gets trapped or arrested. I do wonder if the buyer of the product that Pikeman wants to move through PC is actually Victor since Valentin was the one who weirdly got this plot started.
- Manifesting the Terry and Yuri wedding next but I need them to stop being problematic Liz/Finn shippers

Alright, it's been a long time coming. Thoughts on ace attorney spirit of justice case 5, oh boy. I don't think a list will work this time around, this might end up being a rant... And that's WITH me splitting this case in half, I won't be talking about the trial in kurain this time around, that will have to wait

I can't believe I am saying this, I know this sounds insane, but... This should have been a 3 day trial. One of the biggest issues with this case is how many characters don't get enough screen time for their own good. A lot of stuff ends up getting rushed through and it's likely the reason this case doesn't really have the emotional impact of... Really any other final case in the main series. Meanwhile there are actually 3 cases already here, if the later two were just split into different trials, it would have given time for more of the new characters to interact with the main cast and develop. I know that's a bold claim, especially with the reputation 3-day cases have for dragging on, but I am going to explain my thought process here.
So, let's start at the beginning -
Durke comes back with the milk, and Apollo reacts about as well as you would expect. And also worse because Durke has a job for him on top of that; it's justified later, but there's a reason this scene ended up sticking with me:
Oh, and Datz is there too. Trucy, fortunately, is the gift that keeps on giving. The first portion of this case is the strongest, and she is definitely part of it; I don't think either of these characters would be very likable at this point if they didn't have a resident weird girl to bounce off of.
To be fair, Durke did at least bring Apollo a present, in the form of managing to track down a picture of his biological father and giving us his name - Jove Justice - but somehow I think Apollo would have preferred it if he just called occasionally...
But back to that job, because poor Apollo has just gone too long without having to do some random fetch quest instead being a lawyer,. so now he's tracking down the founders orb, aka the mcguffin from the first case. On the bright side, it means we get to see Pearls and visit the village from JFA, bringing our weird girl count back up to... Two. Yeah I forgot to mention, but Athena is busy getting Phoenix from the airport because the man still doesn't know how to drive, so Apollo really can't catch a break, or a therapist to help with his daddy issues for that matter.
Pearl, sadly, is exhibit A of characters that needed more screen time; she's only here in this one area to be a guide for the village, and not really anything else. She doesn't even get any particularly good character interactions - Phoenix mentioned in dual destinies that she was like Trucy's older sister, but there's not really much here to play into that. She's just not here long enough to make an impact outside 'oh hey Pearl is back' and it's kinda sad that she is kinda just limited to this one area.
Doesn't help that the introduction to Paul Atishon the politician - and I'll give you 3 guesses as to who the killer is- also happens in this area. And yes, he has a punchable face. He's a self-absorbed asshole riding the coattails of his grandfather's success who doesn't take constructive criticism and is constantly spouting lies and is casually harassing people and disturbing the peace as part of his campaign; the writers couldn't have made him more punchable. Well, the more annoying they are, the more satisfying it is to tear them apart and send them to (presumably) death row.

My current spn fic ideas
Succubus!sam - canon divergence where everything is the same except that Sam has Succubus powers that he cant really control. Humans and monsters will at random fall obsessively dangerously in love with him. (Not all of them but it happens often enough that its a problem) It does affect all demons he meets though. Weaker and lower demons will literally worship the ground he walks on and will be compelled to follow his every command while more powerful demons will be attracted to him but not subservient to him. This would most likely be a Cram fic btw
Fic based off this post- the apocalypse happens when Sam is in his teens. The fic I want to write is basically a rewrite of s4 but sam is 16 and Dean is 20 and they r 10x more emotional and irrational bcuz they r in the most insane situation that a 16 yr old and a 20 yr old could be in.
No monsters au/serial killer john au- i read this criminal minds/ spn crossover fic and became obsessed so I really wanted to write a criminal minds crossover of my own. Specifically i wanted to write a pre series fic where john and dean get caught but neither of them are talking so the cops bring in a 13 yr old sam and grill him but hes too traumatized to talk. However him being traumatized is interpreted as him being a stone cold psychopath and when the story gets out the media paints him as a serial killer in the making and 10 yrs down the line this reputation is still haunting him
Casifer gets trans woman Sam pregnant with Jack - Sam thinks that shes having sex with Cas but shes actually having sex with lucifer possessing cas. They of course do it raw and afterwards Sam begins noticing some strange things going on with her body but brushes it off as nothing until Lucifer reveals himself. However Lucifer also hadnt realized that hed gotten Sam pregnant until the soul fisting scene. At some point after the whole deal with Amara is resolved Lucifer kidnaps Sam and stashed him with Dagon (and yes i realize that i am ripping off Kelly Klines entire storyline for Sam) However sam of course wins Dagon over with her puppy dogs eyes and compelling personality and Dagon ends up deciding to help Sam and bcuz i refuse to kill off a woman of color she lives and becomes a part of team free will
(Additional Girl!sam fic- i also just want to write another girl sam fic that takes place in the early seasons. my idea of girl!sam is literally just kristen Stewart if she were 6'3. Shes super awkward. Also Jess is a dude and hes Josh Hutcherson bcuz short king)
Every sam girls favorite: Sam visions returns - After the episode which the name for im blanking on rn, bit its the one where they kill that one demon and get the spear of Michael. Anyway after sam kills that demon it ends up triggering his visions returning. Sam does not realize this but the visions are all about an unborn Jack bcuz yeah. Also probably some sam amd mary relationship weirdness bcuz you know. Also probably some Sam and Mary relationship tension bcuz she has once again altered his fate and inadvertently allowed the state of his "humanness" to be altered
But yeah these r the fic ideas that i have so far. Please let me know if any of them sound interesting and u think that i should write them!!
