I just spent three hours pulling up carpet and staples for a friend’s home renovation and we all did nothing but chat and joke and have wonderful conversation the whole time.
Helping somebody move or renovate or giving them a ride to the airport is functionally the same as going mini-golfing or playing a board game: it’s an activity that you do that is made more fun by having good company, and which provides something to talk about when the conversation lulls.

Now that the post is over 10k and my notes are straight-up unusable…
One thing I wish I’d spelled out more explicitly in the original post because I see this point getting lost on a lot of rebloggers who don’t understand why the healthcare thing was such a big deal is like
The subtext I thought would be understood bc I lived back then but apparently has been lost today is that making sure queer employees and their partners had healthcare in the early 90s meant Disney was paying for a lot of AIDS treatment.
This is one reason fundie Christians were so upset and queer employees were so grateful. It’s one reason why it was such a controversial decision. It was a major talking point amongst my family, who believed back then that AIDS was a punishment from God.
(Some still do, I think. We don’t talk.)
I keep seeing people saying that Disney only chose that option “because of their bottom line” and it’s like??? Were you listening??? Disney has been paying for that decision for literally decades, but they’ve stood by it.
Like… the 90s weren’t like now! It wasn’t profitable to cater to the queer population of the country back then. They weren’t raking in money with this.
It’s in no way a perfect company but I fully believe in criticizing people for the specific things they do wrong and praising them for the specific things they do right. Disney has fucked copyright, monopoly, and labor laws and I’m not about to defend that. But they are well known in FL for being friendly to both queer people and disabled people, and that is unambiguously a good thing.
(Like side note, I could talk about Disney and accessibility for days. I have traveled extensively while disabled and no one does it like Disney.)
I’ve had people reblogging the post like “I straight-up don’t believe Disney is an industry leader in equal protections for queer employees” and it’s like ??? do you think I just pulled this out of my ass? If you want more information, go look it up! You’ll see that this is well-established history. It’s not my fault y'all don’t read! :|

I'm very unhappy with S3 of TOH. But, out of all the serious complaints, one detail in articular irked me.
I was angry from the beginning about the decision to disfigure Hunter, because he was already covered in scars, so adding yet more scars on a kid already covered in them added absolutely nothing to the narrative and was just misery porn.
But I figured, well, maybe some good will come out of this. Maybe they'll use Hunter's scars as a prompt to talk about his trauma, his years of physical abuse in the Covens. Somebody will notice those scars and ask Hunter about them, allowing him to talk about the issue.
But not only did nobody even notice the scars (not even people who by all rights should be concerned for his safety, like Hunter's old teammates and the CATTs), the animators didn't even care enough to remember them. The epilogue has a long scene with an animation error that erases the scar on his arm.
If they weren't going to give a child being disfigured the weight it deserved, they shouldn't have done it at all.
And it's inconsistent too. Hunter was possessed for five minutes and half his face was burned off, Raine was possessed for hours and only got two thin stripes.

So you don’t have to watch the video every time you need one of these hacks immediately:

"tumblr doesn't have an algorithm so likes are WORTHLESS they do NOTHING" well actually likes tell me that people liked my post. they have worth because they show me people saw my post and enjoyed it. that's still interaction even if it doesn't give an extra boost to make Number Go Up even more. yeah I generally get more out of written feedback in tags/replies but likes are still Something, they aren't people telling me "fuck you I'm not sharing your post" they're people telling me "hehe I give your post little a like as a treat."

My greatest worry is that the trauma may drive him to hate wolves.
He was sewing that shirt when he cut his finger, and he was wearing it when he got possessed and killed his best friend. He may associate the traumatic events with the shirt.
That would absolutely fucking suck. Not even just for the character himself, but narratively too. I would flatout call it shitty writing.
Like "abused child who has always been forced to repress his special interests is finally free to express his love for something age-appropriate, and is immediately made to hate it."
I hope we see Hunter wear clothes with wolves in the remaining two episodes, and/or talk about his love for them, to confirm that he didn't make the association and that he still loves wolves. Alternatively, I hope someone asks Dana at a Q&A and she confirms it.
ya know everyone’s laughing at how hunter’s experiencing being possessed by belos and losing flapjack all while wearing a Goofy Silly Handmade Wolf Shirt but i honestly think it makes the scene ten times more heartbreaking. like it’s horrid already but like… just earlier in the episode you could see him enjoying… life
he has a huge interest in wolves, has fun making costumes and hanging with gus. and there’s multiple moments in the episode where he’s finally happy. he’s proud of himself. he’s happy with himself.
i think that if hunter was an adult, while the scene where The Stuff happens would still be devastating, it would hit a little less hard. i feel like the fandom seems to forget sometimes (even me sometimes) that hunter is a child. he’s just 16! you know what regular 16 year olds do? they mess around. they do dumb things! they live their life! but hunter had to endure years of not having a normal childhood due to being treated as royalty.
which makes what he says feel heart wrenching.
of course he also wants belos to not commit witch genocide for the 16,000,000th time, but he wants to just be a kid. he wants to be with willow and gus and play flyer derby like the rest of hexside. he wants to connect with other people his age to make up for lost time.
but belos of course, doesn’t care. he’s the one that’s still controlling him, and while hunter may seem intimidating when belos was possessing him, with the wolf shirt on? it just makes this all the more tragic.
basically hunter did not deserve this and i think dana knew what she was doing and she made hunter wear this shirt on purpose. that’s all
