PLS talk abt achilles and apollo bc i for one would also kill a god's kids but yk
okay if you want something purely achilles/apollo, check this out. i didn’t actually mention troilus at all in that post, and i think that’s what you’re referring to, so i’m gonna do that here. i’ve literally never spoken about the troilus myth either so i think it’s about time
this will get gory towards the end so just. don’t read that if you don’t want to.
for starters, there are multiple versions in this myth obvs, but personally i think that troilus was a preteen when he died, and that he was killed in an ambush, not in a battle. he was actually defenseless and it was a planned, targeted attack. i’ve read some versions where he’s like 17? but i think that’s silly and he’s more like 11
This all happened in the first year of the war and Achilles was 17. He and Apollo had not interacted at this point, but Apollo was close with the royal family (Hector is in his 30s and unmarried for reference). Achilles is still coming to terms with the fact that people actually die in wars and he’s filled with silent rage about it. He still hasn’t gotten over the fact that Agamemnon was willing to kill his own daughter for this and nothing can calm him, not even Patroclus.
Odysseus is the one to offhandedly mention that Troilus must die and Achilles immediately takes this task one since he needs an outlet for his anger. He takes Patroclus and some men and goes on a hunt for Troilus, finding him at a fountain outside the temple of Apollo with his horses. He doesn’t give the kid a chance to even notice they’re there before he throws his spear at him from the back killing him instantly. But he doesn’t stop there. He mutilates the body as if it were nothing more than a punching bag (think TLOU ellie @ david in that one scene), then ties it by the neck reins to Troilus’ horses, sending them to Troy, a bloody message to the Royal family.
By doing that, he secures a chance for Greece to defeat Troy, but draws Apollo’s attention to himself, which will ultimately damn him. Apollo’s hate to Achilles isn’t explosive at first… it simmers. He hates him quietly, but he’s always scheming in the back of his mind. In the end, Apollo has his revenge—of course, for this, he has to lose Hector.

"Antiochos’ and Stratonike’s activities in the eastern part of the [Seleukid] empire are largely shrouded in mystery, but, as Engels has argued, Antiochos was far from idle since he embarked on a large building programme and was active in securing the frontier. There is some evidence to suggest that his new bride accompanied him for much of this period. We can perhaps identify Stratonike’s presence with her new husband in the Upper Satrapies through the gold coinage minted in Susa and Baktria in c . 287. The two gold coin sets are of the same type, the obverse features the laureate head of Apollo facing right and the reverse features Artemis in an elephant biga facing left with the legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ in exergue.

Tumblr media
Figure 2: Coin of Seleukos I from Baktria Depicting Apollo on the Obverse and Artemis with Elephant Biga on the Reverse (Houghton and Lorber 2002, SC I no. 257).
The reverse image of Artemis in the elephant biga is within the same design type as a large range of other coinage issued by Seleukos I celebrating the success of his elephants and thus his eastern campaigns. The appearance of Artemis is however unique to these coin types. This suggests the emphasis on the close links between the twin gods, Artemis and Apollo, depicted on the obverse and reverse of this coinage . Since there appears to be as a close link between Apollo and Antiochos as there is between Zeus and Seleukos, the presence of Artemis could be seen as a symbol for Stratonike. This would create a series of parallels: Seleukos/Zeus, Antiochos/Apollo, and Stratonike/Artemis. The first two reflect what we see for these two kings at the list of priests of Seleukid kings in Seleukeia in Pieria . Additionally, it may be notable that the sister-wife ideology [...] appears to be evident later in the reign of Antiochos.
As all of the Apollo/Artemis cointypes were produced on high value gold coinage, this suggests that it was issued in order to commemorate a significant event. While the type was similar to other Seleukid coinage, the shift from Athena to Artemis was clearly discernible and unique. The arrival of the new joint-King and Queen in the region to take up residence would have been a suitable moment for the issuing of the new coin type. This advertisement of their new rule certainly falls in line with Seleukos’ wedding speech which confirmed their new roles."

the side missing from the circle (pt 2)
pt 1
Leo gets the whole fortune cookie thing a little more now.
Sitting on the porch of Cabin Nine, he has a good view of the Nemesis cabin and the broken wheel hanging over the door.
The circle that shouldn’t roll, the shape of that answer, a piece cut from the whole.
He prods lightly at his bruises, wonders if it’s worth taking the nectar Will had offered him when his discussion with Percy and Apollo had wrapped up. He might need it more later on, because apparently he’s got more danger in his future.
Enemies with weak spots that might not be so easy to find.
"Lemme let you in on a secret: on my quest, your mother appeared to me and chose me as her champion, and I can tell you exactly what she is like," Leo had quietly told Damien.
The price of being championed by the gods is one Leo wouldn't wish on most, and he doesn't wish it on Damien. But heroes like him, the ones that want action, that thirst for a chance to prove themselves never really get what it is until they're drowning in their opportunities for so called glory.
Leo won't pretend like he had any altruistic motives, but there is something grimly satisfying in making another half-blood less eager to throw themself into danger for rewards that won't be what they hoped.
"Consider this repayment, so you know what to expect. Maybe one day you'll make her proud and she'll appear to you too. And when you finally look at her face, you know what will actually be there?" Leo had asked him. "The face of the person you hate most in the world."
Granted, Leo doesn't actually know if this is the case for Nemesis's own children, but given that Piper isn't immune to Aphrodite's shifting appearance, he thinks he's right.
It's probably the lowest blow he could have taken, because Leo knows how fucked up the gods can leave their children. Leo’s living- sort of- proof of that. If Damien only showed up after the quest group left, that means that he wasn't claimed for years when he should have been. Leo took a calculated risk that he'd never met his mother.
Nemesis chose Leo as her champion for a reason, and it's not because he's the forgiving type.
Not for the things that matter.
"Feel free to ask, if you want to know more," is the last thing he'd whispered.
And like with everything in his life, he'd done it with a smile on his face.
It was selfish, but even without the goddess's aura of vengeance, Leo had still wanted to make the score even.
"You know," a voice says above him, and he glances up to see Percy leaning against the side of the porch. "As someone who the rest of the campers have fled from more than once, I gotta say, that was probably the most efficient mass exodus I've ever seen."
A mostly ironic smile pulls at Leo's face, and he says, "Thanks."
Percy looks at him then, more seriously and says, "I'm not really one for gossip-"
He stops when Leo lifts an eyebrow and tilts his head so it looks even higher, because there were only so many people keeping the gossip mill on the Argo going, and Percy was definitely one of them.
"At the best of times, I'm not," Percy amends, and Leo lets it slide. "And after everything, I want to leave this camp knowing this is the best of its times, so… whatever is going on, is it going to lead to problems?"
"None that weren't already here," Leo says, looking down at his hands.
Percy sighs, sounding more worn out than upset. "That is a millennia's worth of problems by itself."
"Yeah," Leo agrees.
"You're not going to stay, though, are you?" Percy says, not asks.
"You already know I can't," Leo says. "Sorry you've only ever known me as a hit and run."
"You're not a hit and run, man," Percy says. "You're just saying that because you're feeling sorry for yourself."
"Well, no one else is," Leo points out, miming a boxer's stance, pulling a couple of quick jabs at the air.
"Yeah," Percy says, and doesn't defend it because there's not much to say. "Yeah, that was messed up."
Leo's answering smile is still mostly ironic.
Percy straightens up from the porch railing. "You're not a hit and run, Leo," he repeats. "So, you don't have to act like one."
"Bleh bleh bleh," Leo mimics half-heartedly.
Percy rolls his eyes but he's smiling. "I don't know you as well as some of the others, but I do know you aren't the kind of person to leave things unfinished."
Leo looks back to the broken wheel, the circle that will never be complete. True success requires sacrifice. You can't get something without giving up something else. Nothing lasts forever, even the best of things.
He doesn't regret what he did, but maybe it isn't complete yet.

my best friend told me she had period pain today. since i am a man, a male, and i do my utmost to encompass the spirit of manliness day-to-day, i reacted by promptly telling her that i reccomend chamomile tea and eating hot rice. the proximity of warmth and the relaxing properties of the chamomile work together nicely.

“Falling in the black -- slipping through the cracks -- Falling through the depths --  Can I ever go back? Dreaming of the way it used to be...  (Can you hear me?)” ~“Falling Inside the Black,” by Skillet
x~x~x~x
Dementors were first created with dark magic. What if dark magic was also the only way to destroy them once and for all?
x~x~x~x
Last night while falling off to sleep, I was dwelling on my HPMA Sour Patch Kid Auror, Carewyn’s son ward, Erik Apollo. His goal -- after losing his mother to the Death Eaters and being victim to the Muggle-Born Registration Commission’s “justice” -- is to destroy all the dementors on Earth, after their banishment from Azkaban post-Second Wizarding War made it so the remnants of their kind wandered free...and I got this horrible image of my boy using a dark spell to actually inhale the terrible magic that makes up a dementor into his own body, with the thought that he could keep that magic locked safely away in a mortal body that -- unlike the form dementors take, which are relatively immortal -- would be destroyed forever, once Erik died. Only downside is that, just as with all dark magic, its use soon becomes very obvious in the user -- first by draining Erik emotionally and physically, but then by twisting and contorting his body to reflect what he’s trapped inside of him. But even now that he’s become a shadow of his former self, Erik presses on, because he thinks if he’s going to die, the least he can do is capture and inhale the last few dementors left free before he does, so as to create a world that’s safe for his wife Roxanni @mira-shard; their children; his extended family Carewyn, Orion, and Eos; Alistair @cursebreakerfarrier; the students he mentored during his short tenure as DADA TA; and every other young person who might join the Wizarding World as he did in the future to live in. Can anyone save Erik from the darkness eating at him from the inside? 🖤

I can't stop imagining this character in situations so I'll share him now
#his name is beau and he was blade's high school boyfriend lel#he's a softie and had a crush on blade for a while bc he seemed Tough™️ and tried timidly to approach him a few times#so you can guess mr 'gets attached to people easily' also liked him rather quickly after they started talking#and honestly how nervous he was while with him and how he looked slightly intimidated even was like. instant crush#beau was like 15 and he was 16 when they started dating and actually they were like. 8 months together? which is a lot#they fucked a lot during that period 👍🏻 they were each other's first time and blade just couldn't stop fucking after that lel#also y'know. hormonal teenagers and all that#it was funny though. beau couldn't bring him to his house bc he was raised in christianity so he always went to blade's house#and apollo was all 👁👁 when his beloved brother was staying a lot of time on the guest room with his bf#i mean he knew they were most probably having sex. he just never wanted to ask and why would he.#they did fucked once on the school's bathroom though. hormonal teenagers again#their relationship was okay though. apollo thought he was decent for blade and beau wanted to be a good brother-in-law#he did felt. slightly wrong about the way apollo and blade interacted but he thought it was because he didn't had siblings#or so he thought! he has a half-brother called liam; who is younger for one year. they share their father#their father uh. cheated on beau's mother with liam's mother. and somehow he was able to hide it until beau was like 6#but his parents didn't got a divorce until he was 15 because they thought he was too young to deal with it yet#he meet liam when he was around 16 and they go along pretty okay!! even when. y'know the other circumstances#liam is another character i should introduce since i also imagine him in situations but this is about beau#anyways! beau broke up with blade because when his father accidentally discovered their relationship he got ENRAGED#and his mother; who is also religious but more lowkey; was like 'i would take my son being gay than being A FUCKING CHEATER'#and it was the thing that started their divorce 😭 so beau felt guilty and blamed himself. his solution was to broke up with him.#blade felt so sad 😞 beau also was tbf. to this day he still misses and thinks about him lmao#blade moved on though. but he wouldn't mind fucking him again for the old times or whatever#oc talk

True King: Excluding Phantagrande and Nalhegrande, there are five other major skydoms. Kahlesgrande, Wahnungrande, Amahtgrande… Ecksegrande, and of course the Great Oarlyegrande Skydom. These five skydoms fall under the dominion of my Istavion Kingdom. Special skydoms such as Zega shall also be annexed when the time is right.
True King: A second tragedy like Ecksegrande must not be allowed a reprise.
Amar: Did my beloved really give his life to save you so you could turn out this way? White Knight: … Amar: I'll never forgive you nor the Ecksegrande war campaign. It wasn't the armies of the Otherworld that killed my beloved. At his wake, you said you'd inherit his will and sacrifice your heart and soul for the skies. You said, "I'll take back Ecksegrande from the Otherworld." Do you honestly believe you can fulfill that promise given your current circumstances?
Hailak: The invasion by the Otherworld occurred over ten years ago. Wouldn't that put the White Knight in his teenage years of younger? Anissida: I'm not sure if the seat had been passed down yet at the time. But a soldier did lay down his life to protect someone he thought absolutely had to be protected. That much is undisputed.
went to grab some of the zega mentions and,,,,,8-10 yrs ago,,,,,,,,,,,theres a Lot of plot points........viola&byleistr death...abel death (i think...<3 or was that ~5 yrs ago)....amars husband dying....ecksegrande being overtaken.......

Is anyone else very impressed with how Rick Riordan basically tricked Disney into publishing books with very LGBT+ characters which sort of seems like something Disney tries to hide. (Hide meaning only tiny glimpses that they can hide easily)
What I mean by “tricking”
The Lightning Thief. Simple. All the kids are assumed cis white and straight. Only really inclusive in the way that they have learning disabilities and messy family life. And it stays that way, maybe adding some side characters that are POC, (Beckendorf being described as black but there’s not much interaction with him until The Demigod Files and Last Olympian. Maybe you could say Nico and Bianca are Italian immigrants.
Then you get to Heroes of Olympus, where out of the 7 in Great Prophecy only 3 are white, (you got Piper being Native American, Hazel is Black, Leo is Latino and Frank is Chinese-Canadian) but most are still assumed straight. Until you get Nico’s reveal in House of Hades (if I remember right)
But then….oh boy.
Trials of Apollo.
Apollo is the main character and canonically bisexual, talking about several past lovers some male some female. Even stating one of his campers mortal parent is also her father. There is a cannon gay couple. There’s a cannon old lesbian couple.
Magnus Chase
Practically cannon gay couple (one deaf), Muslim character, pan character, trans gender fluid.
Now we are getting a book that stars a gay couple.
Rick basically said to Disney, “look at these! Harmless adventure stories. Look. Locked in? Okay! POC and LGBT+ can’t say no to me now I’m selling too many books. If I go to someone else I’ll just be making them money.
I just find it very funny, but I also credit Rick with exposing me to a lot of it. Before I read these books I hadn’t seen too much of this stuff in other media.
(Also adding how in Daughter of the Deep the main character gets her period in the middle of the book and it’s treated as normal.)

A redraw of the timeline of Apollo's life I made half a year ago! Sadly for some reason CSP decided to completely delete poor Post-First Punishment Apollo (the fifth one), but luckily I took a picture of it before hand so y'all can see it, even if it's lower quality ;-;. If you want the story behind these designs I dumped like 2000 words about it in my og post, which you can see here!
Some quick addendums I forgot to put in last time + fun design details:
Apollo replaces Helios as the god of the sun after the Trojan War, around 900 B.C.E-ish.
Baby Apollo has horns now! This is a trait he inherited from his titan side and then quickly lost during his battle with Python. It's a nod to his first domain being shepherding as well.
Just to clarify, post-first punishment Apollo goes before post-Daphne Apollo, it's just I couldn't place them in the right order bc csp sucks
The symbol I used on Main Apollo's fabric is called a delphic epsilon! It was used as a symbol for Apollo's temple at Delphi in Ancient Greece and represented a worshiper's initiation into light.
The blue-ish silver ribbon Fall of Greece Apollo has belonged to Artemis. As I stated in my first post, Apollo spends a large amount of time away from Olympus between the fall of greece and his time in Rome, so he kept the ribbon to have something of his sister's in the meantime.
Also for Fall of Greece Apollo, his cloak is fading for two reasons. One, he's spending a lot more time performing his duties as the god of burials, making his role as one of the first bridges between the living and dead much more prominent. The underworld is pulling at him just as much as it is pulling at the casulties of Greece. Two, Apollo is not spending time on Olympus, nor is he actively speaking with any of his worshipers. This is causing belief in him to diminish, so this is the closest he has ever gotten to fading. I swear I will write a whole thing about the period at some point I have so many ideas.
The sheep 2nd punishment Apollo has is a Chios sheep! They are actually native to Greece, and also adorable I love them.
I think that's all for now, I hope you guys like the art!!!

"The concentration of Stratonike’s public appearance within the Antigonid milieu introduces a frisson to the notion of her voiceless compliance with Seleukos’ schemes for dynastic succession. In her public appearances on Delos she is distant from her affines; in her own words she was the daughter of a king and a queen, not wife of two kings. Clearly the evidence is not fulsome and does not provide the personal motivations for such decisions or the emotional attachments present in these relationships, and neither can we say that Stratonike never attended to Seleukid interests nor Apama to Baktrian ones. The Antiochos Cylinder’s portrayal of Stratonike shows that her persona as divinely appealing consort got good traction in Babylonia, at least, and she could have exploited it elsewhere.”

I keep seeing posts about people "needing" to cleanse before approaching the Greek gods and while those posts mean well I just want to remind everyone that:
Hygiene is VERY hard to keep up with when you're very depressed or having a very hard mental health day but that's when you need your gods the most!
And I know it's because a lot of ancient priests insisted people needed to cleanse themselves before visiting the temples and communing with the gods (they even banned people on their periods, or those who were about to have a baby or those who just had a baby or were just dealing with a dead body, or had blood on them, etc.) but, as the keepers of the temples, that's because the priests themselves would have to clean up after temple visitors so it makes sense they'd want to ban the ones they thought could potentially make a mess and make extra work for them.
The Iliad shows us the gods were in the battlefield! They fought right next to soldiers being slaughtered and killed. They were next to bodies that have involuntarily released feces and urine! They've been around soldiers who hadn't properly bathed in months, possibly even years!
You're allowed to seek the gods when you're not clean.
You're allowed to seek the gods when you haven't gotten out of bed in weeks.
You're allowed to see the gods when you don't remember the last time you showered or brushed your teeth.
You're allowed to see the gods when you really need help.
You're allowed to see the gods when you need them.
Athena and Ares are in the battlefield surrounded by dying soldiers.
Artemis hunts
Aphrodite also has a war aspect.
Hermes picks up souls from literal dead bodies.
Apollo has an aspect that prepares dead bodies for funerary rights.
The gods are surrounded by the unclean all the time!
Please don't let the rules of disgruntled priests stop you from seeking help when you need it the most!
The gods won't be offended if you haven't bathed in weeks because of your terrible mental state! That's ableism! They just want to help you through it!
Please reach out to them regardless of your condition!
