THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: S3/EP5/8 O Clock At The Oasis

Ah, I'm only two episodes away from the Dance Marathon. I am PUMPED! I hope Shane is living out her bucket list (or should I say Fucket List) because the clock is ticking for her. Original Air Date: October 22nd, 2002. The episode opens with a pretty unfunny comedic exchange between Lorelai and Rory as they head to Luke's. They arrive to find the diner unusually crowded.

Maybe Lorelai should have thrown some condoms at these people too. Condoms for The Hollow is my new initiave. Luke is complaining that the parent group comes in every weekend and takes up space for hours and make a mess out of his business only to order two iced teas; he is telling this to Lorelai and Rory, who take up space for hours, eat him out of house and home and never pay for their food.

Says Luke Danes about a woman breastfeeding meanwhile he doesn't try to stop this:

Later, Emily calls Lorelai at work and invites her to a furniture auction. The conversation is suspiciously pleasant and Lorelai hardly even puts up a fight. She later attends the auction with Michel and has a nice time and meets Jon Hamm. But Emily Gilmore always has some kind of motive. Stay vigilant, Lorelai. Michel overhears the conversation and begs Lorelai to take him with her and she agrees. For a price.

I looked up a phone number for you, Michel.

Next scene, Lorelai meets a quirky, vertically challenged, talkative new neighbor who asks Lorelai to water his lawn while he's away and although her agreeance is once again reluctant, there is very little quibbling. Who is this doormat who is saying yes to everything without a fight (so basically, Rory), and what have you done with our Lorelai?

No, I will not. I will continue to post Crap Commentaries to Tumblr. Com until Tumblr finally, mercifully ends up in the dustbin of internet history. Or until I finish Season 3 (maybe 4). Whichever comes first. My 73 year old mom loves loves loves loves loves LOVES Jon Hamm. She definitely loves Jon Hamm more than I love Milo. So of course I've shared this episode with her a few times.

Jon Hamm is a babe. Let's all give it up for my mom. She has good taste. The urge to call him "Baby Jon Hamm" when he was actually 31 years old here is strong. I mean, I still call 30 year old Milo Baby Milo. He didn't shed Baby until at he was at least 35. It's a badge of honor. These fine men age like wine. Lorelai doesn't get BabyHamm's name at the auction, so now she's on a quest to figure it out, which unfortunately for her means she'll have to put the squeeze on Emily to try and get it. Whoops. My bad. She actually asks Rory to do it for her (then gets mildly irritated when Rory actually does it). Just a quick run down of all the manipulative micro transactions going on in just the first 17 minutes of this episode: Luke ---> Lorelai: Tell that woman to stop breastfeeding in my diner Lorelai ---- > Michel: You can come to the auction if you work every weekend Lorelai ----> Rory: You have to ask Grandma to get me BabyHamm's number Dwight (new neighbor) ----> Lorelai: I know you just met me but I need you to water my lawn for the next week Dwight ----> Lorelai: While you're here watering my lawn you can water my indoor plants too Then there's the whole sprinkler business... which we'll get to in time. Lorelai swallows her pride at the next FND and inquires about Paddle #17 and we find out BabyHamm's name is Peyton Sanders. Isn't he a football player? (Peyton Manning. Bad Joke.). Emily agrees to obtain his phone number for Lorelai without anything more than some light teasing . Highly suspicious.

Dwight's house is pretty rad.

Okay okay I LOVE this kind of thing. The thing being: listing all of the board games whose names I can make out. Les go. We'll finish out the post here. Some of the games, I'd assume for copyright reasons have their names cropped short or changed. Hungry Hungry Hippos became Hungry Hungry Nippos.

I am incredibly happy I can finally engage in the fandom though, and follow so many more blogs now and such

2) When I think I truly started to like them

Honestly, the exact moment slips me! He got in my head one day and then he Did Not Get Out. I did run back through my discord channel and apparently an hour and a half after starting Zam’s s3 POV I messaged “WHAT IS THIS, THE BULLY ZAM SERVER????” so I think about then! (I had already watched Clown’s POV and thought that Zam was oooo such an asshole oooo for his whole building walls bit and then you watch Zam and he is so wet and pathetic that all of a sudden he did nothing wrong ever) It did not take me long to go ah. SO many people. SO many fucking people. I think if princezam makes it on a server and doesn’t act like a raging gay then he will crumble to ash and fall apart in the wind. That said I am particularly fond of the idea of clownzam. For the jokes, I want to say his first word was fuck. His parents didn’t really care much about keeping their language in check, and I see him as one of the middle-younger kids of a big family, so all of his older brothers would be swearing already, and it would rub off on him. For the non jokes….. I think I would say his first word was dada. Give me a daddy’s boy Seth who had his father be his whole world for so many years only to be disappointed in the end that his father was just a man after all. He’s a Fox for a reason

30) The funniest scene they had?

OH MY GOD OKAY SO. Personally I am a fan of every scene he is in, and I think among his funniest are the ones where he drops everything to slug Kevin in the face. That said I think the funniest one is when he straight up hears Kevin's name and drags his ass out of deep sleep so he can fight him. There is NOTHING like a man and his homoerotic enemy who he hates with everything in him. Or maybe his funniest scene is the iconic "are you stupid" "yes" I'm sorry Seth you gotta deal with Neil being an absolute dumbass I'm not sure what else you expected. OR when Neil asked if Andrew and Renee were a thing and Seth looked like he might vomit. Or him flipping off their opponents and then Kevin. OR—[I am forcibly dragged off the stage. He could raise an eyebrow and I would probably find it funny]

stranger things rewatch details/thoughts pt 3 (s3 ep1-s3 ep8)

-El kept the baby mask from her sister and its up in her room!

- she also has a large poster of a bird on a beach

- the first store when they walk into Starcourt has a very creative name. "Camera Repair"

- the girl behind Max in the movie theater is MAD annoyed at them. they talk (before the movie starts), and she shushes them. they pass snacks, and she shushes them. rude

-the Scoops Ahoy menu sign quite literally calls it an "Ocean of Flavors"

-i wonder if Will remembers much of the events of s2, or at least the possesion/exorcism. it seems to flood back to him in the theater

-ah wait, Yurtle WAS relocated! totally forgot, could've sworn he was a goner.

-poor "lard-ass". hope he's okay

-Hopper's hatred of Mike is too funny I kinda hope it continues, even if he does loosen up

-God I adore how much you can see the amount of love in Hop's eyes when he's watching Joyce help a customer. when will someone look at me like that oml

-Joyce and Bob were watching Fraiser in the flashback

- Will's persona of "Will the Wise" is a LOT more assertive than he normally is. bet that'll come in clutch in s5

- I completely forgot the whole "Dustin wanting Steve and Robin to date" thing happened before s4

-Robin was apparently a theater kid (which made her "weird" in the Old Steve's standards). she also played soccer

-still not over how Mike and Lucas mock Will's DnD game and act all bored with it and then continue to play DnD really seriously in high school

-the whole "Robin being a lesbian and Steve her emotional support himbo" decision really WAS last minute bc there's a few hints pretty early in the season that would normally lead to 2 characters eventually falling in love (aka- on the rooftop of Starcourt when they have to duck down to avoid the Russians, Steve and Robin do the whole "unintentionally holding hands in danger" thing)

-the way Billy is standing and acting in the scene in Heather's house is INSANELY similar to Henry Creel in the rainbow room (down to the creepy smile and the hands clasped in front)

-Hopper breaks the mayor's nose. guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, blood relation or not

- "if you die, I die" - said Dustin, with total seriousness, to Steve. this better NOT be foreshadowing

-when El wears Sarah's hairtie as a bracelet, it covers up her number tattoo

-oh my GOD Jonathan getting whacked with the hospital stool looked WAYYYYY more brutal than I remember... how the hell did he not get paralyzed

-at first i thought that Hopper's eventual escape route from the machine explosion was adding afterwards for Plot Armor, but that's not true! when the Scoops Troop is running from the Russians they take the same escape route underneath the machine

-the door out to Murray's wonderful little "backyard" says "Keep Door Closed"

-I don't blame Alexei, cherry slurpees are far superior to strawberry

-Erica being a total math genius is something that HAS to be brought up again

-when Robin spits in the Russian's face, he says "you're going to regret that, suchka". suchka, translating in the subtitles as "little bitch"

-after the hospital, everyone must've taken a well needed shower before heading to Hop's cabin

-i would die for Karen Wheeler's FunFair dress

-can we talk about the fact that other than El, Dustin is the only kid to ever K1LL SOMEONE??? I mean maybe he just got wiped out but that Russian doctor looked very not alive

-did Todd ever get his car back

-the answer is hopefully no. screw Todd, Steve's her daddy now

-I think if I had to choose one of these monsters to NEVER have to fuck with ever it'd be the flesh monster. sure Vecna can kill you from your own mind but something about fighting melted humans/rats feels so very wrong and traumatizing

-Steve's been in a vehicle poorly driven by children twice

-if Joyce doesn't stick to this Detective Byers plan in s5 I'm gonna cry

-also I need to physically SEE the Enzo's date, even if it's a flashback

-Dustin and Erica staying at the hill means that they had no way of knowing if the Griswold Family was alive, or whether or not Steve and Robin were headed on a su1c1de mission

-I'd be shittin me britches if i was in that mall no lie

- the flesh monster mind flayer must have some sort of eyes in its tentacles because it tried to catch a mannequin that was wearing El's outfit

-662608004 was the code Murray wrote, but the real password was 662607004. all he got wrong was the 7. come on Bald Eagle

-they straight up left Max, El, and Mike at the mall

-according to Hopper, gunfire is the universal language for "EVERYBODY OUT!"

-Max and Billy lived on 4819 Cherry Hill Lane

-on that TV ad, when they suggest a rise in Satanism is cursing the town, they zoom in on a Dungeon Master's Handbook

-the epilogue says it's 3 months after the 4th of July, AKA October. but it's implied that the party is still just them, so maybe they joined the Hellfire Club in the middle of the year

-Dustin doesn't wear his hat when he's sad

-someone actually bought the Byers' house. fuck that, man I'd firmly believe it's cursed

-was El staying in Will's room? because she's seen packing up her stuff but the Byers only had a 3 bedroom house

-we all know that Steve wears lipgloss this season but I'm also convinced that Mike is in the epilogue

-Mike didn't seem to enjoy that goodbye kiss as much as he was expecting...

Doctor Who S3 E11 (Utopia)

I elaborate under the cut

Blorbos - JACK JACK JACK JAck i remember it was such a moment watching this for the first time when he came back omg i love this old man. And their interactions with the Doctor are just alfbslaksnxjks. And it's a good Martha episode as well, even though we are as always focused on Doctor+Rose and Doctor vs Jack and the Master conflict, i'm looking at my girl Martha. I really think her decision to leave the Doctor was planted here. You can't tell me that she saw the Doctor's "meh" reaction to a man literally dying for him and not had something inside her shift. She finally realizes how much important information the Doctor is keeping from her, stuff that she didn't know was missing from the picture bc she wasn't allowed to see the whole picture. That little remark about the companions being like dogs that the Doctor picks up. This realization flows so perfectly into the next episode where we see her built up frustration explode, she is so done with him for being useless amd a danger to her family. Also i love it when she goes "screw the boys amd their toys i'm gonna go talk to the only other woman in the room" and it's great and cute. Also how nice and charming she is in general, this ep really lets her communication skills to shine, and you can really see how good of a leader she will make.

I'm happy with costumes basically any time i see Martha in anything other than her red leather jacket - don't get me wrong, it's cute, but she spent like half the seaon in the exact same outfit with the exact same hair, and i know she can rock so mamy more outfits. Truly Martha deserved better on all fronts. And the outfit she has in this ep is really good, i like her practical jacket and it suits her so well

Loke look me in the eye and tell me it's not one of the most gorgeous stills of Freema that you've seen.

Also for the costumes, i find it hilarious that the Master still remains a fashionista when hecs not himself and there's literally no fashion left in the universe. Look at him rocking that gorgeous Edwardian blouse while everyone else is dressed in rags. An icon.

I think it relates more to "Human nature"/"The family of blood" eps but i think this Chameleon watch is super neat and i want it

Ok but Picard (the show) is wonderful. It gives me LOTR vibes with the deep friendships Picard makes. And seeing all the old characters from Enterprise and other Star Trek’s is giving me deep nostalgia lol. Even Wesley! I loved Wesley when I was a kid! I have only just finished S2 so don’t know what happens in S3 yet but ugh, it’s so good. Was sad saying goodbye to Q as I also loved him in Enterprise and his farewell with Picard was so surprisingly tender, I may have welled up a little. Like, Picard is in his 90′s and he’s out there getting himself some. You go Picard. (boldly lol). Riker is iconic as always. My dad told me Warf is in S3 and I am so excited about it lol. Love Warf (and Klingons in general). Ah, anyways, I just wanted to rave about Picard for a minute.

Character Thoughts:

Violetta: You will always be my baby. This girl has been through the wringer, with the Esmeralda deceit, Jeremías, and Diego. Then add to that losing her voice, losing Angie, and then losing her passion for a time. I just want to give her a big hug. And she honestly handles it with more grace than most people ever could. She deserves every good thing that comes her way.

León: A male protagonist that deserves rights. I appreciate his Entre Dos Mundos arc as someone pursuing a double major, although the motorcross seemed to come out of nowhere. I'm mad that he was mad about the non-consensual kiss and he certainly had his moments that frustrated me but like. He cares about Vilu so much.

Ludmila: She's so stupid... I love her. It's hard to remember what about her is real and what I made up because I think about her so much, so I won't say too much. Her fake friend era was such a time. It was hard to watch her cause Vilu pain, but what can I say except I know where she's coming from. Seeing her finally realize that hurting Vilu wasn't going to solve her problems was such a moment.

Naty: babeygirl. period. poor thing goes through it with Ludmila and I'm glad she ended the season happy. and yet, in the end, she will always choose Ludmi. she is unconditional. there's not much more that needs to be said here.

Francesca: Ah, Fran. She's always looking out for Vilu and that is something that I treasure. Her going-to-Italy arc was so.... yeah. As someone who knew they were leaving their hometown for college and also someone who knows they have to leave their college town whenever classes aren't in session, I get it. It's a lot. She had a really hard time letting her heart say yes to Marco, which could be frustrating, but I don't blame her. Commitment is hard, especially when you wonder how permanent things can be.

Camila: Ooooooh she's so funny. So many lines here and there that cracked me up. Her boy scrapbook was funny to me because like. That's such a normal thing to do. Not. But similar energy to something I'd do at the same time.

Diego: I hate this show for making me feel sorry for him by the end of it. He's almost even likable now. Dang it. I despised this man at the start of the season... creepy stalker. But in the end... idk. Something happened. All of the dynamics that he's a part of just make it.

Andrés/Broduey/Marco/Maxi: They exist. I don't think enough thoughts about them to say more than that.

Germán: I HATE HIMMMMMMM. Stupid Jeremías and stupid helicoptering send him STRAIGHT to prison. He did not deserve applause for Soy Mi Mejor Momento. That belonged to Vilu and the kids. As the child of overprotective parents, I have a lot of thoughts about Germán and how the show Violetta itself could be a metaphor for other things, but that should be its own post, so I won't expand for now.

Lara: she's so cool! Funky lil mechanic! Never did anything wrong tbh. I hope she ends up happy wherever she is.

Gregorio: this man is unhinged. But his development with Diego destroyed me. Like. I felt it in my soul. He truly has the range.

Angie: Her scenes with Vilu are always so special. But poor woman, she definitely needed to go to France. And her send-off... affected me. One of the deserves better girls for sure.

Jade: Please free her from the shackles of Germán and Mati. Enough said. Also her opera scene was ICONIC.

Esmeralda: It would be nice if she got a redemption arc in S3 but that won't be happening so... oh well. I also like how she brought Ámbar with her. Seeing Vilu being an older sister was cute.

Pablo: what was WRONG with this man for the majority of the season? Bring S1 Pablo back!

Olga/Ramallo: They exist. They care about Vilu. They put up with Germán. I couldn't do their job.

Pairings (Platonic and romantic)

Leonetta: A main ship I can support. Madrid!Podemos was so much. And all Leonetta hugs... so true. There's just a lot of care there.

León and Fran: such a fun dynamic, especially in Madrid. Best detectives. They just want to protect their girl Vilu.

Fran and Cami: these two fight like a married couple but in the end they have each others' best interests at heart. They often give each other advice that they need to take themselves lol.

Ludmila and Vilu: Vilu puts up with so much, bless her. The way she kept trying to let Ludmi in to her circle at the beginning of the season? The way she just moves on so quickly at the end? And the way Ludmi finally comes to her senses and wants to help her get her sparkle back? Yeah... s3 sisters will kill me.

Ludmila and Diego: Oh... so much. They're just so much. I want to study them under a microscope. Just a shocking and entertaining dynamic all around. The way they both despise and care about each other.

Diego and Vilu: Their start and end was not good. They had some cute moments, unfortunately. In another life, maybe. I can tell that in the end, he really did care about her, and was caught in a very rough spot. He wasn't in the right but I get it. I will be interested to see where their interactions go from here.

Fedemila: I mean I had fun. I like seeing Ludmila enamored. I like seeing her try. And they're both just so much, so diva.

Naxi: Maxi just. doesn't trust Naty. So while she ended the season happy, she deserves better, I think.

Brodemila: They are what they are. They're always gonna be in conflict. But their cute scenes are cute.

Marcesca: It would never work out in the end, but it was nice for what it was. Like him learning Italian? So good. His Madrid gestures may have been a bit toooo grand lol. Still. after S1, Fran deserved someone at least as decent as Marco.

Caxi: not the worst tbh. I don't have strong feelings either way.

Natila, Cadmila: Some enjoyable moments for both of these pairings. Tension between Cami and Ludmi. Naty and Cami making the music video. Their trio dynamic. So much fun!

Franletta: the softe girls!!!!!!! They fight so hard for each other. Fran pulling the fire alarm? Vilu convincing Fran's dad to let her stay? That whole arc was so much. All their hugs and just being attached at the hip... yes. Sweeties.

Luty: I don't even need to say anything. We know what they did to me. Just. Yeah. There are so many moments that aren't even subtext, just straight (not) text. Like yeah. Solo te quería desear suerte. And fin.

Ive never met more delusional people than Emma stans...

I saw a tiktok saying AHS couldn't have do it without them and show Evan, Jessica and Sarah. There were some angry Emma fans saying add Emma, where is Emma, and almost everyone was telling them to stfu which was really satisfying to see.

One person said why is Evan there but Emma isnt and someone replied saying that Evan made the show popular and that person said "No Emma did that, why do you guys always discredit women" lmfaooooo. I replied saying that she didn't do shit because she joined in s3 when it was already popular.

Other person tried to say Emma should be there because Madison has 678M views on tiktok... WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT TIKTOK. There wasn't tiktok when AHS started plus I checked and Tate has 3B views and Violet has a few milion more than Madison. So that "iconic" chatacter that supposedly made the show popular isn't even the most or second most watched from the show.

LMFAOOO you are so right. by the time emma came to AHS it was already an incredibly successful show, she did nothing to bring relevancy to it. evan, however, was instrumental and a fan favorite.

tiktok has nothing to do with AHS' popularity. and the reality is people like the little clips and gifs of madison more than they actually care about or watch emma's work, to include AHS. and it's always been that way. no one was tuning in just for her, she was never the star - her little bits were just memeable. that's it.

The Demogorgon Is Billy’s Dark Reflection

At first glance, the Demogorgon seems irrelevant to the question of whether or not Billy’s coming back. But as I aim to prove, it has everything to do with it.

Stranger Things deals heavily in the theme of reflections and opposites. Characters are designed to mirror each other, embody the opposite of each other, and sometimes both at once. Hell, the Upside Down is presented as a reflection of the real world. Literally.

(Damn. They ain’t subtle.)

By the term “dark reflection,” I mean a relationship like that between the Upside Down and the real world. The two are almost exact copies; the Upside Down has all the same landmarks, down to Will’s fort in the woods. But the Upside Down has been corrupted by the Mind Flayer, its inhabitants turned into unthinking monsters.

It’s like us. But it’s everything we hate about ourselves, everything we’re afraid of becoming.

When we probe relationships between characters, we find that pattern replicated across the board. I don’t have room to explore it in full here. However, Billy and the Demogorgon are one of the most obvious examples.

With the exception of El, the main character of the show, no one else has been compared to the Demogorgon like Billy has.

>>Billy fills the “monster” role in S3 that the Demogorgon filled in S1.

In S1, the Demogorgon stalks the inhabitants of Hawkins, kidnapping and killing them. In S2, we find out Demogorgons do not act alone, but are the puppets of a greater monster: the Mind Flayer.

In S3, the Mind Flayer possesses Billy, turning him into His puppet. Billy then stalks the inhabitants of Hawkins, kidnapping and taking them to his master, which ultimately results in their deaths.

In S3, the Demogorgon wears a human face.

>>Like the Demogorgon, Billy is the puppet of a greater monster... even before he’s possessed.

Max tells us as much in Runaway Max when she’s watching Billy beat the life out of Steve:

I remembered how it had felt the first time I’d watched the Hargroves in action. Neil standing over Billy with the belt in his hand. Neil calling me a stupid little girl for having the guts to try to stop him. Making it so clear that he thought I was small and weak and pointless. And knowing Neil believed that still wasn’t as bad as the way Billy had hated me for trying to help him. He was damaged. Broken, maybe. And even if he’d been coherent enough to argue with, it wouldn’t make a difference. I understood now that Neil was in his head, and that meant he was just as dangerous as his father. (p 218)

This implies not only that Billy is the Demogorgon, but also that Neil is the Mind Flayer. The ramifications of that idea are... oof. Just oof.

Remember the definition of “dark reflection” that I gave you. A dark reflection is something that’s like us, but represents what we hate or fear most about ourselves.

The Demogorgon is Billy’s dark reflection because it represents his fear of losing his humanity to an abuser.

>>Runaway Max draws on the grossest scene in S2 to give us a Billy/Demogorgon parallel.

In S2, Dustin finds a baby Demogorgon and names it D’Artagnan. At first Dart seems harmless. Then he molts and, in a scene I hate to watch, eats Dustin’s cat.

Keep in mind that Dustin’s cat is orange.

In Runaway Max, Billy seems harmless at first. Then, in a flashback to California, we’re told of the day Billy “molts.”

One afternoon, he’s hanging out with Max and his buddies Wayne and Sid on the scrubby hill behind the Hargrove house. He’s bored and pissed at Sid for besting him on a history paper. Pulling out his lighter, he starts playing with it.

We learn there’s a corpse of a cat nearby:

There was a dead cat that had been lying under one of the sweet pea bushes for a while. A mangy orange tom with one white foot. (p 63)

Billy stalks over to it with his lighter. In a “hard, bright” voice, he talks about giving the cat a “Viking funeral.” Then, over Max and Sid’s protests, he drenches the corpse in butane and lights it on fire. The flames race down the hill, and the others have to stomp them out before they spiral out of control.

Max notes Billy’s reaction:

Billy just watched, standing over the burning cat, smiling that small, tight smile he got when something seemed funny to him....

After that, I knew.

Not that Billy was crazy or out of control, exactly - it wasn’t like the cat had been alive. But the fact that he’d done it meant something. (p 67)

Yeah, this scene means something, alright. Symbolically, Billy - a baby Demogorgon - has just eaten a cat. And, like Dustin with Dart, Max realizes he’s a monster in the making.

>>The show’s plot and cinematography choices emphasize the Billy/Demogorgon connection.

1) El first meets them in the Void. They’re both crouching, and literally or symbolically feasting, as she approaches from the right.

2) They stalk after the kids, shoulders hunched. In the Demogorgon’s case, the kids are trapped. In Billy’s case, he thinks he’s trapping the kids, but they turn the tables on him.

3) When the Demogorgon is activated, a crack rips through the tile wall of the lab. When Billy is activated, we see cracked tiles on the wall behind him.

4) El pins them against the wall with her powers. Then she screams in their faces before she deals the “death blow.” In the climactic shot, she’s on the left, they’re on the right. Mike and/or her friends are behind her.

All of that ^ is the equivalent of the Duffers banging pots and pans. “Hey guys! Billy is like the Demogorgon! The Demogorgon is like Billy!” When I first noticed it, it told me to look for other examples of “mirroring.” Do we get any other shots that juxtapose the two?

Turns out we do. Oh my god, we do.

Study this pair of shots very, very carefully.

In the first, the Demogorgon is approaching the Byers' house. It's in the center of the frame, moving straight toward us. We see woods in the background; a lamp post is on the left side.

In the second, Billy is running away from the sauna. He's in the center of the frame, moving directly away from us. We see woods in the background; a lamp post is on the right side.

I’ve already talked about how the Upside Down is the deep sea. However, it is ALSO the woods. In fairytales, the woods are a place of mystery and monsters. Some of the most famous tales happen there, such as Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. (If you want to read more about this topic, here’s a Wikipedia article to get you started. Also a cool article on Medium)

With that in mind, we can describe this pair of shots as follows:

In the first, the Demogorgon is emerging from the Upside Down.

In the second, Billy is going to the Upside Down.

Interesting, right? Ah, but that’s only half of the story.

Study this pair now and tell me what you see.

Yep... they’re related.

In the second shot, Billy is swimming into the ocean. It’s the last glimpse we have of his young, happy self before the Mind Flayer kills him. He’s in the center of the frame, moving directly away from us, just like the first shot.

With that in mind, we could say...

In the first, he’s going to the Upside Down in its ‘woods’ manifestation.

In the second - OUR LAST GLIMPSE OF YOUNG BILLY BEFORE HE DIES - he’s going to the Upside Down in its ‘ocean’ manifestation.

Interesting how we've only seen him leave. Yet we have this iconic image of the Demogorgon, his “dark reflection,” emerging from the Upside Down and coming to us.

I have a spooky vibe, y'all, that we're missing a final shot.

And we're going to see Billy...

coming to us...

from the water.

I have so much more to unpack here, but this post has gone on long enough! In future posts, I’ll lay out more evidence suggesting Billy will return from the water. I’ll also explore the mythological implications. They’re mind-blowing :3

SNOWPIERCER S3 FINALE THOUGHTS

LOVED the finale! i was annoyed by the fact that everyone was going to go to war again but it all concluded so quickly and ended up w everyone's best interest! all the characters also got to make their own decisions & I'm content with where whichever character ended. except LJ maybe bc WHAT WAS THAT lmao? it felt random & stupid death for an iconic character. i'll miss u lj, u beautiful psychopath.

EDEN EXISTS! i'm so happy for them!! wish asha was alive to experience it, she deserve it sm. so excited for s4, how long will new eden be habitable for? how will they set up camp, what will be the source of food ahh can't wait.

about the cliffhanger - at first i thought it's a sign from the new eden group but then realised it's a fucking bomb?? not worried about mel but def wondering who set it off? was it wilford? is there any other survivor? AH S4 PLS COME OUT SOONER <3

Random positive question: what are your favorite designs in the Sonic series? Those designs that make you go "ah yes, very appealing, a lot of thought went into this"

The truth is, there's actually a lot of character designs in the games that I like, since they tend to abide by the franchise's design philosophy pretty well. There are some exceptions - never been keen on Silver's design for instance, since he looks like the designers threw everything at the wall to see what sticks compared to the other hedgehogs, and his hairstyle is just asking for memes regardless of the intended symbolism behind it - but on the whole, there's more good than bad, at least if we're sticking with the recurring characters.

Sonic and Eggman are obviously two of the biggest examples, as they're both unquestionably iconic and use the art of simplicity to convey a lot of personality for both of them. Metal Sonic is another one, since he gets the robot doppelganger schtick across while also not being a literal copy-paste of Sonic's own design. Other examples that I'm fond of include (but aren't limited to) Tails, Modern Amy, Rouge, Cream, Big, Vector, Blaze, Tikal, the S3&K Mecha Sonic, and the Hard-Boiled Heavies.

The trouble with a lot of adaptations is that they either give the game cast unnecessary additions that provide nothing but clutter (the Boom designs), or their original characters can stick out like a sore thumb too much (the pre-reboot Archie designs). Then you have the likes of SatAM, where everyone is given duller colours for the sake of realism... which misses the point completely, since Sonic characters are meant to look bright. Even Shadow, despite being jet black.

Okay, strap yourselves in my dudes, these answers are gonna be waaaay too long

1. What made you ship it?-

It's kinda a long story? Okay so way back in s2 I saw gifsets of them and actually thought the show was doing them 🤣 (Oh sweet young and innocent me 😂) I specifically remember seeing the gifset of Eddie hugging Christopher and Buck watching from afar first and then the whole "you can have my back anyday" scene just a bit after. I was intrigued and liked them right away. But I don't think I saw them that much until the iconic™️ "there's nobody else in this world I trust more with my son than you". A person I follow on yt made a beautiful fanvid after the tsunami eps and I couldn't help but watch that and then some others about those episodes (I think I saw the actual scene too but I can't remember). Then later I saw gifsets of The Kitchen Scene™️ and thought that was them getting together 😂 I saw that scene and then got hooked on watching their entire journey on yt 😂 And then I would just keep up with them for the rest of s3 but didn't fully watch the show until a later 🤣 So technically I kinda basically started shipping them from just their gifsets and sorta following a bit of their journey with gifsets but didn't fully ship them until I saw their scenes (and then of course watched the show). And they've gotten me in a chokehold ever since 😂

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?-

Do you have all day?? There's sooo many things I love about them, but I think my favorite thing is them being the best partner for the other. And that actually covers a lot of things I love about them, being great partners at work, great best friends who really support each other and know each other better than practically anyone else, and also great co-parents. Also, a part of that too is that they have similar deep-seeded insecurities (not feeling enough, putting serving people/helping people as part of their self-worth, parental issues, relationship issues, etc). Some of the ways they go about it are similar, but the other ways are kinda the opposite where they help balance each other. idk I just really love how they mirror each other in ways but also balance each other as well.

3. Is there an unpopular you have on the ship?-

I have a few but I can't really think of them at the moment. The only thing I can think of is not really unpopular opinion per say, but. I know Tim and everyone had said they were surprised by ppl shipping Buddie at first and didn't originally plan on doing them (or something like that I cant remember exactly what was said), and I also know that happens a lot in shows (especially for non-straight ships). HOWEVER, to this day, I just can't help but feel like they were planned. Like, I know I know, I probably sound naive or whatever, but the foundation they created between their relationship right away? The fact that the biggest dynamic Eddie had in his very first episode was with Buck? "Whatta Ma" playing as we see Eddie for the first time, being in Buck's POV?? "You can have my back anyday" "You can have mine". Everything with Christopher in the earthquake episodes and then Stuck. Like they really put so much focus on not only their relationship, but Buck helping out with Christopher and the foundation of the Buckley Diaz Family. All this before Shannon comes, and when she does, what is the first problem she mentions about their marriage in her very first scene? Ah, yes. "I wanted you to have my back!". Like?? Listen, again, I know that happens a lot with shows where they create things with characters unintentionally, but given how this show really takes their time with foreshadowing? And just how much they took their time to create the foundation of their relationship, a foundation that was immediately paralleled to Eddie's own marriage and showed to have things that his marriage had been lacking. Again, it could've easily been easily where they wrote this not realizing the bigger picture and implications, but idk I just think they put a little too much work there to have it be unintentional. But that's just me 🤷‍♀️ (I can talk even more in depth on this later)
