Waiting mode is the most uncomfortable thing ever. I can't do anything, I can't relax, I can't play video games or anything until the thing I'm waiting for actually happens

Anyone else understimulated but overstimulated
Like I need something or I’m gonna go crazy but I also need everything to stop or I’m gonna go crazy

My ADHD during the day when I have all the free time in the world to do as I please: "noooooo i want to sleep for five hours then stare at the wall soulessly for five more :/"
My ADHD in the dead of night when I am exhausted and need to sleep: "Hobbies!!! We must play the flute!!! Journal every thought we have!!! Engage in a dramatic reenactment of all of Shakespeare's classics!!! Research the effects insecure attachment on childhood psychological development!!! Learn to speak French!!! Make our own mobile app!!! We don't need sleep we need dopamine from following impulsive pursuits only to abandon them the next day!!!"

I never realized I go nonverbal until recently, and like when someone asks me something or tries to all to I get overwhelmed/overstimulated bc I can’t really talk and then I’m forced to actually talk and I hate it

When I say I forget my friends exist sometimes, by the way, I don't mean that y'all have completely vacated from my mind.
It's kind of like a plate in a microwave that the beeping is broken on. It finished spinning but because you're not actively watching it to see when it's done, you forget you were ever making food, usually until you smell it and get reminded that you have food in the microwave.
As for friends, I see the messages, but because there's nothing there actively reminding me, they're just kind of sitting there perpetually. I can think about them, but I've forgotten the act of interacting personally (outside of reblogging posts from one another) exists, basically.

Here’s why I don’t take “inattentive vs hyperactive” seriously…
Clinicians: after using my neurotypical brain to briefly observe you in a completely sedentary office setting I noticed that you did not scream or lose your mind or run laps around my office even once, and since adhd burnout/paralysis/executive dysfunction don’t exist, you must have inattentive type. That’s the only explanation for your composure while in my office. You’re welcome :)
Actual adults with adhd: HELP I’m TOO TIRED to MOVE (unless I’m presented with any adequate stimulation) (unless I feel safe enough to fidget) (unless I get adequate rest and nutrients) (unless by some miracle I can take care of myself properly) (unless I hear a song I like) (unless it’s 2am when I get the zoomies) (unless it’s something I find fun then I’ll be bouncing off the walls) (unless it’s a project that interests me then I’ll work for twelve hours straight) (unless I have to sit for more than two minutes) (unless you ask about my childhood when I was constantly yelled at to calm down and sit still) (unless by some miracle I can achieve proper self care so I’m not constantly trying to pour from an empty cup)

I wish Adderall was like birth control implants where you get it placed once and it lasts for 5 years so you don't have to remember to take it every day

Does anyone else who’s autistic w/adhd struggle to recognise where their autism ends and their adhd starts? I constantly see people who see them as being separate from each other, obviously from a medical point of view they are two separate “disorders”, but I always see mine as being together like a jumbled up pair of headphones that you stashed in a drawer and found them a year later. I look at them now all tangled up and think, “Where do I even start? Should I even begin to try and untangle this?”

Adhd is sitting at your desk, having everything set up to start working but instead of actually working, it's being on your phone instead

Hi everyone,
I found this Venn diagram that compares the two ADHD subtypes. I found this very interesting. I’ll leave the link below so you can read more.

ADHD and hyperfocus: call for study participants
ETA: STUDY NOW CLOSED!
We are running a research study about hyperfocus, a state of intense concentration experienced by some people with ADHD. To do this, we need participants both with and without ADHD.
Participants must:

- Be proficient in English
- Be able to complete the study on a computer with a keyboard
- Have computer administrator privileges to download a small program (Inquisit, a research platform: learn more at https://www.millisecond.com/products/web)
You do not need to experience hyperfocus to participate. The study will take about 15-20 minutes. No identifying information is collected, participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time (further informed consent details are listed on the study launch page).
Participate or learn more at https://mili2nd.co/5j6b
To view the full information sheet before downloading Inquisit, visit https://tinyurl.com/adhdhyperfocus
