just a quick Drabble
Spencer Reid x Older!Male!Biker reader
Tumblr media
Dr. Spencer Reid had never been the type to fall for someone inordinate or someone at all really. He typically developed light crushes with people he knew he would never see again. Yet the light, fluttery feeling he gets in his stomach when he sees you makes him all giddy inside. He can’t help but blush and wants to hide when he sees you. A lovesick puppy is all he is.
Spencer hid behind the files on his desk once you walked in. He discreetly peeked over the top to see you walking in with your biker helmet in one hand and a cup holder in the other. Spencer knew the routine by now. You’d come in with your helmet and coffee for you two to share. Every time you get his order right, and every time he starts thinking about your guy's future.
“Hey Lighting Bolt,” you rounded the desks to sit next to Spencer. It was always faint but you could see the way that his eyes light up when he sees you. A smile came onto your face as you distributed the coffee and sat on his desk. “Got a bunch of files there. You’ll finish them in-what? Two hours?”
“One in a half actually,” he meekly said as he sipped on his coffee. “Hotch said that he was going to give you some files. Said it’s supposed to keep you busy since we can’t go on the case.”
A groan escaped your lips. Spencer chuckled, knowing your dislike about not being on cases.
The team went on a case and left the two of you behind with Garcia. Spencer was injured, being shot in the leg and all, so he couldn’t go. The case was a kidnapping so they didn’t need the forensic guy there. Which meant that a good portion of the team was left behind and got to deal with the paperwork. Penelope was ecstatic with company but the both of you could only wish to go back with the team.
“Hey bolt,” Spencer hummed as he looked up at you. The happy puppy look always got to you. “I got you something.”
“Me?” Heat rose up in his cheeks with that boyish smile he always does. His heart started beating while his mind went through all the possibilities of what it might be. “You didn’t have to do that. Todays not special or anything.”
“I know. But I was out shopping and this reminded me of you.”
A thick book sat in your hand. It was leather, Spencer basked in the Euphoric feeling. He quickly took it and opened it. Second hand but the original copy of a classic in German. He skimmed through the pages, quickly reading all of the annotations from the previous owner.
“Wow there Spence. I don’t want you to finish reading it here.” You lightly chuckle while running a hand through his hair.
He let out an audibly “oh”. “Uh. Well. Thank you! I always wanted this one. But how did you find it? It’s sold out at every place I go to.”
“I have my ways,” you said with a finger over your lips and a wink towards him. “Hope you enjoy it!” You got up, took a sip from your coffee, and started heading out.
“You’re leaving me?” The slight tremble in his lips and the furrow of his eyebrows would have been enough for you to fall to your knees but you had to keep composure.
“I got to help Penelope with the case. I’ll be back once you’re done with the files.”
Spencer watched as you walked out. His heart rate rocketed with the memory of your smile. He beamed like a schoolboy as he looked at the book. Your future with him ran through his mind as he covered his face and let a couple of lovesick giggles. Acting like a teenager girl in the chick flicks but he still didn’t care.
“He’s just a friend, Spencer. Just-a really, really good friend. Yeah,” a pause. “Oh I'm in love with him.”

So I loved the Aaron as a sugar daddy but I now really need the cards flipped where he is now dating a celebrity who spoils both him and Jack out of love ;))
I'm happy you loved it Anon! And I hope you like this one!
AARON HOTCHNER X CELEBRITY MALE READER
The BAU unit is having one of their quiet and slow days in the office right now.
Everyone is doing their own thing. Spencer is reading, Derek giggling at his phone most likely texting a girl, J.J and Emily talking up a storm while Penelope is nearby Morgan's desk staring at Hotch's office.
"He's been on the phone for about fifty minutes now." Garcia finally blurts out catching everyone's attention. "Actually it's only been thirty two minutes." Reid corrects her looking up from his book giving Penelope his attention. "Same thing." Penelope responds with a groan.
"He has been on the phone for a while." Emily says looking at her bosses office as well. "Well maybe the bossman got a sweet lady friend on the phone." Derek adds turning off his phone with a smirk.
"You're all so nosy." J.J says playfully with a small laugh.
"It's what we are best at." Derek says adding in on the joke before sitting up. "How long until he notices that were staring at him?" Penelope questions while the team all stare at Hotch's open office.
As if on cue Hotch turns his body around looking at his team all watching him. "Okay gotta call you back, mhm. mhm.. Yeah I got it and don't work too hard. Okay bye." Aaron says one more time to the person on the phone before hanging up and staring down at his team with a glare.
"Reid pointed it out first." Morgan lies with a smirk on his face while the rest of his co-workers agree and lie with him. "Wha-It wasn't me!" Spencer says looking at the team. "That's four against one. Who do you believe Hotch?" Emily questions with a smirk.
"That it was all of you." Hotch answers rolling his eyes in the process.
TIMESKIP
After work finally ended everyone agreed to go to a nearby restaurant and have dinner.
The restaurant was nice and welcoming. The team's table was filled with laughter and smiles. The only bad thing about it was Aaron kept checking his phone 24/7 non-stop.
"Okay who's the girl?" Derek says taking a hold of Aaron's hand as soon he was about to reach for his phone. Aaron shots Derek a glare before answering. "It's nothing."
The whole team gives Aaron a "Be for real." type of look.
"Okay fine. It's just that i'm worried for Jack since he's with his new babysitter." Aaron lies to the team before putting his phone in his pockets. "New sitter trouble or what?" Morgan asks with concern filling his voice.
"Not really it's just that when him and Jack are together for a long time chaos is bound to happen." Hotch answers trying to avoid all the pair of eyes that are on him. "How about we all go to your house and see what's up. If they're a mess we can all clean it up." J.J offers getting money out to pay for everyone.
Before Aaron could protest the team all leave tips and got their belongings before leaving the restaurant to go to their bosses house.
TIMESKIP
Aaron gives the team one more look before unlocking the door stepping inside the house watching everyone come inside. "This place looks even better than the last time I was here." Emily points out looking at all the expensive toys and objects laying around.
Spencer walks to a counter picking up a silver white Rolex. "Wow...This collection hasn't even been released to the public yet. Only three people in the world have this. And the watch isn't fake either it has real diamonds and gold in it too." Spencer rants before putting the watch down.
"Hey where is the little man?---" Emily gets cut off by a loud childish scream from a different room as well Jack running out of the room laughing. "Daddy! Daddy help!" Jack squeals running behind Aaron hiding.
Aaron lets out a chuckle already knowing what or really who his son is running from.
"Y/n, stop scaring my son!" Aaron shouts before picking up Jack off the ground bringing him into a hug. "Couldn't help myself he's just so easy to get." A voice calls out from a room where Jack was running away from his life.
"No..." Derek trails off
"Way." Penelope finishing her friend's words. The team gasps when they see the Y/n L/n walking out of the room hair a mess as well as his clothes. "Hey baby." Y/n says to Aaron walking up to him giving him a light kiss on the cheek. Y/n looks at the staring team giving them a smile and a small greeting.
Even though the team is standing and staring at the couple like deer in head lights they all share the same mutual thought. "Look at him..." They all are referring to Aaron who is smiling ear to ear talking and laughing with Y/n. Y/n introduces himself to his boyfriend's family hoping to make a good impression. Soon enough everyone is talking and laughing among each other welcoming Y/n into the family.
Hours pass again and again people leaving and saying their goodbyes to only Jack, Aaron and Y/n are only in the house.
"I think they like you." Aaron says to his boyfriend wrapping his arms around Y/n. "You think so?" Y/n asks putting his hands on Aaron's waist bringing him closer. Aaron nods yes before kissing Y/n deeply. Y/n immediately kisses back with the same passion massaging Aaron's hips as they swap kisses back and forth.
Y/n pulls away with a smirk on his face. "Did you like the gift I sent for you at work?" Y/n asks suggesting the flowers and different kinds of snacks he sent to Aaron's office. "I loved it. But some people thought I had a secret admirer" Aaron answers remembering all the questions from this morning. "I'm not much of a secret, but I sure is hell an admirer." Y/n says with a laugh.
"I bought Jack loads of things today like toys, bikes and more soccer things. I even got him a dog, but shes at my place at the moment. Shes already trained and all that and she's probably playing with the sitter." Y/n tells him taking Aaron's hand guiding him to Jack's room that is now littered with expensive clothes and toys. "You spoil him too much." Aaron responds back with a light push.
"Don't get jealous I bought you things too. I even got us adult toys. But we can play with those later." Y/n says shooting Aaron a wink earning a light hit on the shoulder.
"Aar. I was wondering if you wanna come with me to one of my photoshoots? It won't take long I promise. Just a couple shots of me wearing their brand and slapping it on a magazine then were done." Y/n asks turning around to his boyfriend leaning on the door frame.
Aaron thinks for a minute before turning around facing Y/n leaning his own body against Y/n's. "I know you're more busy than that, so tell me everything." "Okay boss. I got this GQ interview then the photoshoot. Next is a little cameo in this movie. Last but not least is a late- night interview." Y/n says with a sigh before continuing. "And I wanted to ask you if you would like to accompany me with your son as well."
Before Aaron could answer Y/n shuts him up with a kiss. "Thanks Aaron. I knew you were gonna say yes."
NEXT DAY
All the photoshoots went fast in Y/n's opinion.
Now currently he's in the dressing room with the two people he loves most talking about all sorts of things. Y/n has Aaron on one of his thighs while Jack is on the other talking and laughing like the small family they are.
"Mr L/n! You're up in five!" One of Y/n's agents tells him before leaving the room.
Y/n lets out a sigh before looking at Jack. "Jack. Daddy has to go on TV now, you can stay back here and watch okay?" "Okay daddy!" Jack gives Y/n a kiss on the cheek before hopping off his leg going to the pile of toys on the floor.
Y/n turns his head facing Aaron with a smile on his face. "Aaron. Daddy has to go, but if you are a good little boy daddy will award you." Y/n says playfully with a wink.
"Stop it Jack is right there." Aaron says getting off of Y/n's legs before bending down to kiss him deeply. Y/n puts his hands on Aaron's waist kissing him back. The two makeout until someone knocks on the door. "Y/n! Cmon its showtime." Y/n pulls away from the heated makeout with a smile on his face before giving the boys a quick bye before leaving the room.
The interview was going great so far. The audience loved Y/n. They cheered 24/7 for him even when he said something simple they cheered for him. Y/n was everything that anyone could ask from a guest. Kind, funny and handsome.
Currently the interviewer was asking Y/n about what he was going to do next to "Wow the world." The interviewer asks. Before Y/n could answer it was a loud child squeal screaming "Daddy!" Before anyone could react Jack runs out of backstage and to where Y/n is sitting jumping on his lap.
The whole crowd says "Awww" in union as they watch Jack hold onto Y/n tightly turning his face away from the camera.
"To answer your question. I guess it is to show the world one of the two men I love most in this world."
THE END!

heart eyes | carmilla carmine x fem! oc
Tumblr media
note: Magik was nineteen when she died in 2009 and now she's biologically fourty-three (I'm just assuming Hazbin Hotel is set in 2024), and Carmilla is in her mid 40s-50s. (Her wiki said that anyways).  Magik is Abroromantic and Asexual. The only people she doesn't mind touching her are Alastor, Rosie, Angel, and sometimes Charlie (possibly Carmilla as well in the future).
This one shot is from my book on Wattpad, and it's an Alastor & oc (plus other characters, mostly Alastor tho), and I had really wanted to write something for Magik (oc ) and Carmilla, cause Carmilla is so cool and I love her design T-T Alastor and Magik have a brother-sister relationship, they're strictly platonic.
pairing: carmilla carmine & magik garcia (romantic)
Shit. was the first thought going through Magik's head as she gripped her hair in despair. Shit, shit, shit. Her ears flattened against her head as she groaned in displeasure. Angel and Husk both looked at her, the spider demon leaning over to talk to his friend. "Is she all right? She's been like that for the whole day." He asked the cat demon. He opened his mouth to reply, but Magik beat him to it.
"No, Angie, everything is not okay. Oh, this is so bad, why must it be me?" Magik cried in confusion, trying to understand how she even did this to herself. The two looked at her confused.
"What does that mean?" Husk questioned, raising his eyebrows, trying to figure out what she was talking about.
"I mean this," she turned to look at them, her golden pupils were shaped into pulsing hearts, "every time i look or even think about that woman, my eyes automatically do this." She spoke, her ears flicking in irritation as the small tail she had wagged furiously.
"Oh! Awe, you have heart eyes," Angel awed at his friend, his hand going over to pat her gently on the head, being mindful of her little antlers. She snapped at his hand.
"Do not "awe" at me. This is terrible! I don't know how this even happened, I'm never attracted to anyone," she said, turning to look back at the counter with her thumb in her mouth, trying to not have a mental breakdown.
"You know, it's not a bad thing to like someone, kid." Husk said, leaning over the counter next to Angel.
"Yeah, and who is this lucky person that's got you all worked up anyways?" Angel asked. Magik sighed, scratching her cheek.
"You promise you won't laugh at me, right?" She asked.
"No." The two said. Magik mumbled the name of the person she was crushing on, "sorry, you'll have to speak up kiddo."
"Carmilla Carmine." She huffed, hugging her middle as she turned her head away from her friends.
"Wait, seriously?" Angel spoke first, a light airy laugh leaving his lips.
"You said you wouldn't laugh..." Magik mumbled. Husk nudged the younger male, which had Angel look at him and be met with a glare.
"We're not laughing Magik, just surprised is all. She doesn't seem your type, her being an overlord and all." He shrugged, taking a swig of his cheap booze. Magik looked at both of them, her heart pupils still prominent and bright.
"I actually didn't think you could like anyone, with the way you always act. No offense, doll, but you're not that approachable. Especially when Al's around you." He admitted, taking the drink Husk had made him and took a small sip of the pink alcohol.
"Neither did I! I didn't even know I liked women! Oh no, what if people find out!" She gripped her hair again, worried that if people found out, she'd definitely be the laughing stock of hell. No one as high ranked as Carmilla would go for a low ranked sinner. And Magik wasn't even that much of a sinner. She still has a grudge against heaven for that one.
"Jeez, calm down toots. It's not the end of the world." Angel rolled his eyes.
"Yeah," Husk nodded. She looked at them and then banged her head against the counter and groaned again. Shit! she totally forgot the meeting she was supposed to go to with Alastor, yes, she wasn't an Overlord, but Alastor loved having her tag along with them. He always thought it was fun. With the new revelation of her pupils dilating into hearts, she wasn't very thrilled in tagging along with her brother figure.
"Magik, my dear, oh I missed you. How are you?" Rosie spoke as Magik came into the meeting room with Alastor next to her. The cannibal walked over to the jack rabbit demoness who wore sunglasses (very Crowley of you Magik) and gave the short adult a hug, bending down a little to reach her height.
"Hi Auntie Rosie," Magik said, using the title Rosie insisted on her saying. Rosie only grinned, letting her go and leading her to sit in between Alastor and herself. "And I'm all right, I'm a bit tired today. Eye bags are dreadful." She sighed, lying as she pointed at the glasses that hid her pupils. Alastor raised a brow at that, but didn't say anything.
The meeting started as she stared at all of the Overlords, most of them she didn't even remember their names. Then, her gaze went to Carmilla and her eyes instantly softened as she inwardly sighed. Oh, I hate my life. She thought, trying to fight the giddy smile that threatened to spread across her thin lips. Why did it have to be you? She was not happy right now. She knew her pupils had grown in size and knew the hearts would be a lot better to see if she had the glasses off.
"Is there something you'd like to say, Magik? You've been staring at me for quite a while?" Carmilla's voice brought her out of her head as she looked around, confused.
"What?" She asked, her ears flicking, the smile she didn't realize passed her lips quickly turned to a frown, though her pupils were still the same. "No?" She was confused. Why was everyone looking at her?
"You've been staring off into space, my dear." Alastor told her, his static filled voice catching her ears. She looked up at him.
"No I wasn't," she denied.
"Whatever you were doing, stop it." Carmilla glared at her. This demoness wasn't an Overlord, so she couldn't understand why Alastor insisted on having her in some of these meetings. Magik looked dumbfounded until she understood what she had done and her face turned red in embarrassment. Why me? smoke sizzled out of her ears which surprised quite a few of the Overlords as she silently groaned. "And why are you wearing sunglasses inside?" She asked.
"I uh... Have a black eye?" Magik lied in uncertainty. Rosie gave a tilt of her head.
"I thought you had eye bags?" The hellborn was clueless sometimes, and it usually made Magik's life a nightmare. Magik gave an unconvincing smile.
"That too... I'm a poor sleeper... Hehe..." Oh, kill me now. She felt like crying. All this because her pupils are hearts. Carmilla rolled her eyes and then they finally went back to the meeting, everyone momentarily forgetting Magik and her embarrassed state. Rosie however, had an idea what had happened, and her grin seemed to widen. She may be clueless sometimes, but she would know a little crush when she saw one.

*throws more blankets at you while also sending hugs* Okay, let's see...screw it, crossover. Your characters playing Among Us, what are they like? Doesn't have to be in depth or anything
*takes blanket (and your hugs) in a tight wrap*
"Doesn't have to be in depth", you know who you're talking to, right? If it gets too long, I'll put it under a cut. It'll be both Imposter and Crewmate (I'm basic, shhh), and which one they prefer playing as. Edit: It got too long with Ezhno alone. It's under the cut.
Ezhno Nies ArcCoil
Ezhno doesn't play many mobile games that aren't one handed, so he wouldn't have a lot of experience playing. On a computer, it's a little different, but generally still the same rules applies. He actually prefers playing imposter, since it's less buttons to focus on, and he's surprisingly good at it. He's silent in chatting and allows others to give alibis. Unless it's voice chat, then he actually talks. On crewmate, he's DEFINITELY the last one to get his tasks done, even in ghost form. It's just difficult for him to move fast.
Keegan Moore
Keegan isn't a fan of Among Us, since he just hates lying. If he does play, he prefers crewmate, as he likes to focus on tasks. He is the type of person to ignore dead bodies right beside him and get accused of being imposter and getting voted out. Generally pretry quiet in chat, since he's not good at communicating, same thing with voice chat. If he does get imposter, there's a 50/50 shot of him leaving the game and entering a new lobby. Only time he doesn't is with friends, but you can TELL he's imposter, since he votes himself to leave.
Malli Till
Oh, lord, do NOT give this boy imposter. He likes playing Among Us, and tries to play both sides of it, but he likes being crewmate and sneaking around. Being the imposter is anxiety inducing to him, especially if his partner leaves the game, or it's a single-imposter game. He's more chatty in game than he is in real life, both voice and messages.
Riker Larsen
He'll try to play casually, but ends up getting WAY competitive. He's the type of guy to throw his phone on the bed and scream in anguish like his first born just got killed in front of him at a loss of a very good game. And the go about his day like nothing happened. He likes both roles and takes them both seriously. He's also the guy to start with the questions 'who and where' to the person who found the body.
Joey Garcia
They're the type of person to just do what they're told by the game, silently do it, but throw in false information to cause. chaos. Like, people learn to take her information like a penny in a pocket to a rich man. They just love it. There are some points where they take it seriously, but mostly, just being chaos.
Kyro Davis
Uh.. Kyro doesn't actually know WHAT Among Us is. They've owned a pager or Nokia for most of their life. They have no clue what mobile games actually are. If they did play, they'd just be very confused of what the fuck is happening.
Marc Åström
He doesn't actually have mobile games on his phone, the only game he has is Minesweeper, and a few games that Gremlin has downloaded. He mostly uses his phone for communication, and prefers playing arcade games like pinball, Fix-it Felix, or Pac-Man. He also likes the coin pushers, oddly. But, yeah. Has never touched a console, computer, or mobile game that wasn't a basic.
Damen Michaels
Fucking LOVES playing imposter. Right out the bat. Being able to act sneaky and corner someone to kill them, using doors and lights to his advantage. This boy has developed strategy from playing as imposter so much. Honestly? 9 times out of 10, he's the type of person to make Riker rage, because he's just good at it. He's also good at being crewmate and guessing who the imposter is, but he loves being imposter himself.

Thoughts on writing something where Bryan is only obsessed with Danny bc Bryan is into Yuta and is jealous that Danny and Yuta are A Thing?
ranger requests [ anon, yes i have thoughts ]
tw: obsessive compulsive disorder, bryan has ocd
It rubbed Bryan the wrong way. Most things did but this...this bothered him. For months he had been going after that asshole kid Garcia, and yes there was so much potential. That had little to do with why Bryan was obsessed with Daniel Garcia.
Instead it was the way Garcia and Wheeler interacted. In ring, in promos, backstage, in interviews. It's so obvious that it causes Bryan physical pain. Everyone else was oblivious which just fed into Bryan's obsession with Wheeler and Garcia. It started after Garcia had left that huge bite mark on Wheeler. Something in that match broke something loose in Bryan.
Bryan wanted Wheeler so bad. At first he couldn't figure out why Wheeler wasn't actually fucking Mox, then Claudio. But he wasn't. The youngest member of the stable had flirted with both but quietly, politely declined. The flirting Bryan did was Wheeler was in the ring, in training, and Wheeler never quietly, or politely declined him.
Then there was Garcia. Bryan couldn't figure it out so he obsessed over it. Normally Bryan didn't use twitter, instagram, or his phone much in general, but he made up a fake account each place to follow Garcia. Had spent many sleepless nights scrolling through every post Garcia made to find tidbits of Wheeler, to affirm this relationship. And eventually Bryan just found himself obsessed with both boys.
Bryan started going after Garcia more and more. Started shutting out Wheeler more too. If Wheeler wasn't going to be honest with Bryan then Bryan would get it out of either of them the hard way.
After the interview with Renee, Bryan thought maybe he had unlocked something as he walked back to the locker room. Wheeler was angry that Garcia was obsessed with Bryan now, and that Bryan didn't seem to pay any attention to him anymore. This was maybe Bryan's shot.
As soon as the door swung open Wheeler was on Bryan. Strong hands weaved into the blue mountings on Bryan's sweater and threw him to the hard floor, making Bryan slide into some benches from the force of him. The rest of the team scattered, shouting expletives as Bryan was put down. No one could stop Wheeler as he mounted Bryan and started reigning punches down. There was shouting from everyone. Someone got hold of Wheeler's hand which gave Bryan enough of an opening to move into a full guard before flipping them and carefully climbing off Wheeler. Everyone was quiet now.
"Fuck you, Bryan!" Wheeler shouted from the floor as Bryan spat blood onto the concrete. "What the hell is your problem?!"
Bryan didn't answer as he looked around at his mentor and friends then down at Wheeler who was slowly getting off the floor. Regal seemed to understand something that Bryan did not and ushered the others away.
"Are you kidding? They're gonna kill each other!" Mox grunted as Regal shoved him out the door.
"That's why we will be waiting just outside. If we are needed we will come back inside." Regal spoke like he had to explain this to a toddler as the door closed behind them.
"What's your fucking problem?" Wheeler was in Bryan's face. "You don't think I belong here? That he deserves it more?!" Wheeler was yelling now. "I'm better than Danny! I know he has my title, Bryan, our title, but just give me a chance! I'll get it back."
"This has nothing to do with the title." Bryan said coldly. The blood Wheeler drew trickled down into his beard from the split in his lip.
"Then what, Bryan, then what?!" Wheeler grabbed at his shirt again but this time it wasn't to throw the older man. It was desperate as Wheeler tugged. "This is driving me crazy. I don't mean in a fun way either. I can't sleep or eat, I fuckin---" Wheeler had to take a few deep breathes. "If I just understood what was wrong I could fix it."
"You can't fix it. I'm not going to ask you to break up with Garcia for me, Wheeler." Bryan admitted. It was out there now. The weight of Wheeler's despair too much for Bryan.
"What?" Wheeler stepped back a few paces.
"You heard me, Wheeler." Bryan tucked his hands into his pockets, not bothering to brush away the blood still trickling.
"Bryan." Wheeler sounded more angry than Bryan had ever heard him.
"What?" Bryan tried his best to keep his voice neutral.
"I've never once dated, fucked, or kissed Daniel Garcia." Wheeler growled out, his words sounding like gravel in a wood chipper.
"...what?" Bryan looked completely shocked. He was so sure. He knew. He...he'd seen. Something? Stuff? Bryan swallowed the lump in his throat.
"You fucking heard me." Wheeler snapped as he grabbed his things.
"You guys aren't...?" Bryan licked the blood off his lip. The copper taste grounding him.
"Nope. Never have, never would have." Wheeler shoved Bryan to get past even though there was plenty of space to walk. "Don't fucking talk to me Bryan. I don't want anything to do with you anymore."
Bryan was still staggered by Wheeler's shove when those words bounced around the empty room, and Wheeler left.
Wheeler was gone.

A/n: This went in a completely different direction than I thought it would.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Y/n
Genre: a little angst but mostly fluff
WC: 3.2k
CW: spoilers for season 13 | implication of sex | typical CM violence | mentions of getting shot + getting stabbed | mentions of Maeve
"Come on, Reid. I'll drive you home." Y/n announced, tugging at an almost sleeping Spencer's hand.
The last few months had been tough. A series of disastrous events. Every member of the team trying to hang on as each emotionally straining situation happened.
They all hoped they were out of the woods. Spencer was out of prison, Emily wasn't being held hostage by a psychopath, Spencer's mom was safe, but they were all still mourning Stephen Walker's death.
Spencer looked up at her with his brown puppy dog eyes, curls slipping on his forehead. She had never been more pleased to see him sitting in the office, doing paperwork later into Thursday night despite how much she knew he needed sleep.
Looking around the bullpen, she could almost imagine everything was back to the way it was 12 years ago when they were just kids. Baby Doctor Reid with his straight hair and babyface. Back when no one could believe he was over 18, much less a doctor with 3 PhDs. With Gideon and his odd ways of cracking cases, headstrong Elle, media liaison JJ, Hotch with a baby, not a teenage son, Morgan with hair, ageless Garcia, 23-year-old Y/n.
Y/n didn't know why she was reminiscing. Maybe it was Spencer who was so familiar yet so different. Still, Y/n got to tease him about being a few months older.
Their colleagues had come and gone, and some come back. It was just the cycle of the BAU.
Spencer struggled to keep his eyes open as he answered her. "Uh, yeah, that would be good, thank you." Still polite as the shy 22-year-old he once was.
It wasn't odd for her to take him home or any of their other friends.
"Let's go. You look like you're about to fall asleep right now." Y/n joked with a giggle. Spencer was almost too tired to laugh at her.
He gathered his things before following Y/n to the elevator, waving at Emily as they left. She actually looked alert, ready to tackle her reports.
As soon as Y/n put her foot to the accelerator, Spencer fell asleep, letting out little snores as he twitched his nose. Something he'd done since she'd known him, it never got less cute.
Spencer seemed much more awake after she stopped the car outside his apartment.
"Come in, Poppet." He insisted, looking over the center console at her.
The nickname was one he had used for a good few years, ever since he managed to not stutter when he talked to her. As soon as he had concluded they were friends- a year after Y/n considered them friends- he started teasing her about being shorter than him. Like everyone else in the world was.
Y/n rolled her eyes, pretending to hate the nickname. They both knew she didn't.
"Seriously, you can't be considering driving home this late." Spencer continued trying to convince her. To further illustrate his point, he held out his watch for her to read the time. 11:21.
He took her silence as refusal and gave one last plea. "I've got candy. Your favorite chocolate too."
"Alright, Nerd." She shot him a wink, using his special nickname. "It's been a while since we had a sleepover." She decided, determining in her head that date was almost a year ago.
"Yeah," Spencer smirked. "They don't let you have those in prison." He joked with a laugh, making her mouth drop open about how soon it was. "You can laugh. Please, reassure me my jokes are funny." He requested playfully, still smirking. Y/n let herself giggle at him. Spencer was surprisingly funny for being such a nerd.
Spencer picked up her go-bag from the back. His chivalry had never wavered.
She went up the stairs to his apartment first. Using the spare key, she kept to his apartment to unlock the door.
Routinely, she slipped off her shoes, placing her keys down. Spencer's apartment was always so comfortable. Warm, cozy, and filled with books. It was uniquely him.
Spencer placed her bag in his room, where she always slept next to him. It had taken him a couple of years for them to start that habit. But once they did, it didn't stop.
"Spence, bring me a hoodie." She requested from the living room, making herself comfortable on his couch.
"Uh, what one do you want?" Spencer asked her.
Y/n got off the couch, moving towards the door of his bedroom. She knocked, hiding behind the door. "Can I come in to choose?"
"Yeah, don't worry, I've got pants on," Spencer assured her, making her laugh as she stepped in.
She made her way through his room, past his leather armchair to the walk-through wardrobe.
Spencer stood there, in just sweat pants, looking at his collection of hoodies.
Y/n ran her fingers through the hung-up hoodies. She almost forgot what she was doing as she admired all the different labels.
"Did you get these all for free?" She asked him, frowning.
Spencer nodded with a chuckle. "Every single one." He affirmed as he stepped over, so he was in right next to her. He flicked through each hoodie. "Caltech, my favorite, naturally." He started with the first one. "Stanford didn't even offer me a full scholarship." He said with a scoff and an eye roll. The sass he had developed only started to show 7 years prior. It had always been there, just deeply buried.
"Really?" Y/n asked in a surprised tone. "There's no way." She continued in disbelief.
Spencer shrugged. "Apparently not enough extra circulars. Like I had time while I was accelerating through grades like no other student. Probably ever." He explained with a smug tone. That was a fairly new personality trait, one she enjoyed nonetheless.
He held out the next hoodie. "Columbia, too many people in New York," Spencer informed her why he didn't pick the college. "Yale, my first backup plan. Harvard, my second backup plan. MIT, I very nearly went there."
"Why didn't you?" Y/n interrupted him to ask. It wasn't something she'd heard him talk about before, besides that Yale was his backup plan.
Spencer shrugged. "MIT scores better in most things. 1st in Chemistry, 1st in Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical engineering, and 1st in Math." He listed off the statistics he just seemed to know.
"That's a lot of reasons to pick MIT," Y/n commented absentmindedly.
Spencer's voice got quieter. "Guess I wanted to be an hour flight from home rather than nearly six." He figured. He still wasn't sure if it was a subconscious decision or not.
"You really are the best, Spence," Y/n told him with a smile, lightly punching him on the arm.
He rolled his eyes at her, blushing nonetheless. "Which hoodie?" He asked, nodding at the coat hangers.
"Uh, I'll take Yale, your number two." Y/n joked, holding her hand out as she opened and closed her fist.
Spencer picked up a hoodie. "You can have Caltech, always my number one." He joked, flashing her a wink.
Y/n scoffed, taking the hoodie. "You're such a flirt." She reminded him. He had been for a long time. It just wasn't something a lot of people would assume about him. Mostly due to the babyface he had only just grown out of.
His flirting started when Morgan bet Spencer couldn't get anyone to give him their number. By the end of the night, Spencer had 29 numbers. He never used a single one, but the respectable, mutual flirting was actually fun.
"Okay, where's the candy you speak of?" Y/n asked once she'd put the hoodie over her head.
Spencer laughed at her, putting on one of his other hoodies. "Let's go." He said, taking her hand, pulling her towards the kitchen.
Something caught Y/n's eye on the wall adjacent to his desk. Photo frames she'd never seen before. She dropped his hand so she could look at them.
"I'll get the snacks," Spencer mentioned, noticing her intrigue.
Y/n nodded, running her finger over the framed photographs. Pictures of the team at Rossi's, around the table at the bar, on the beach in Florida, when Hotch gave them an extra day after their case finished, Spencer with his godsons, Spencer with each member of the team.
The wall was ordered precisely, lines of framed photos. Right in the middle of the was a photo of Y/n and Spencer. It was a selfie Y/n had taken when Spencer took her to the planetarium. Back when they were only 23, wide smiles and innocent faces. So much had changed, yet so much stayed the same.
"When did you do this?" Y/n asked, sensing him back in the room as he put bags down on the coffee table.
Spencer moved to stand next to her. "Uh, 5 months ago. Once I, um, got out." He figured, voice raising at the end of his answer.
"It's nice," Y/n stated, turning to look at him. "Why are we in the middle?" She asked with a playful tone, raising her eyebrows.
Spencer was far too specific for there not to be an explanation. "I like the photo." He replied.
Y/n shook her head at him. "There's a reason. What is it?" She pushed. "Come on, since when do we have secrets?" She asked, lightly pushing on his chest.
Spencer laughed awkwardly before starting his story. "It's super embarrassing, but I had such a big crush on you." He mentioned, shaking his head. "That trip wasn't, um, meant to be us as f-friends." He tried to explain, squeezing an eye shut as he thought about it.
"Wait, what?" Y/n asked, mouth falling open in surprise. "That was a date?" She questioned, rethinking the whole night. If it had been with anyone but Spencer, she wouldn't have hesitated to call it a date.
Spencer chuckled at her trying to figure it out. "Yeah, I mean, it's no big deal." He figured, shrugging it off.
Y/n still looked completely bewildered. Then it hit her. "I spent like the whole time talking about Ben." She remembered.
Spencer nodded at her, still finding the whole thing amusing. "Yeah, and how you were going to 'win him back through seduction.'" Spencer quoted, raising his pitch in an attempt to sound like her. Y/n hit the palm of her hand on her head, feeling like such an idiot. "I figured that was enough of a hint that my feelings weren't reciprocated."
"I'm such an idiot." She said, feeling terrible about potentially hurting Spencer. Even if it was years ago.
Back, then he was so self-conscious that asking her out would have been a big thing.
"Don't worry about it, Poppet," Spencer assured her. It still didn't make her any less annoyed at herself. "Seriously, it's okay."
Y/n reluctantly nodded, meeting his eyes for the first time since they'd started the conversation. She didn't realize how close he was, his eyes flipping between her lips and her eyes.
"So, you stopped liking me after that?" Y/n asked awkwardly.
Spencer shook his head gently. "Not sure I ever stopped."
His words took Y/n by just as much surprise. Somehow, it felt like things were falling into place, like every piece of the puzzle fit.
She could stop what she did next, leaning up to kiss her best friend. Two hands wrapped around his neck, his quickly moving to her waist. It felt so much better than anything she could have imagined. His lips were actually against hers. This was real life. She almost felt like her brain had stopped working, and Spencer felt the same. The whole thing was indescribable. It just felt right.
Neither of them could help but deepen it, desperate to be as close together as they could be.
"This is okay, right?" Spencer asked, pulling back for a second as his fingers twirled the hem of the hoodie she was wearing.
Y/n nodded at him. "Yes, please, Spence." She requested, tugging the hoodie off her frame.
Spencer didn't want to waste any more time as he took her to his bedroom. Laying her down on the bed they used to sleep next to each other in.
And everything changed.
~
"Pass me a gummy worm." Y/n requested.
1:13, and both of them were wide awake. Y/n wasn't used to having candy in bed after sex, but it was different. Everything with Spencer was different and infinitely better.
"Of course, pretty girl." Spencer agreed, handing her the packet in his hands.
Y/n could only smile as she looked at him, her cheeks starting to hurt. She could see every inch of his face, high cheekbones, defined jawline, and those pretty, big brown eyes. He was the same Spencer she had known for years, but somehow everything felt the same. "So I get 'pretty girl' now?" She asked with a raised eyebrows.
Spencer's nose twitched as he thought it over. "It's cause you are, baby." He replied, leaning over to stroke his thumb across her blushing cheek.
"Did you mean it?" Y/n had the sudden urge to ask as the self-doubt set in.
Spencer took his hand off her cheek, frowning at her before nodding. "Absolutely." He assured her. "I knew, but I didn't know." He attempted to explain as he chewed on his bottom lip.
Y/n thought she understood. "I didn't realize until just now that I always did." It was confusing, and she didn't know how to explain it. She just hoped Spencer got it.
Spencer did. "I just want you to know that I love you." He confessed. "I always have."
"I love you, Spencer," Y/n replied happily, leaning in to give him a soft kiss. There was nothing in the world that could deter her bliss. Spencer had never felt as joyful as he did. "Why didn't we do this years ago?" Y/n questioned rhetorically.
Spencer also didn't know, and he was annoyed about it. "The timing just wasn't ever right, was it?" He figured.
Y/n hadn't thought about it until he answered. "I feel bad, though." She announced. Spencer's confused look prompted her to explain. "I just mean that I've been with other people, and I could never fully love them because it's only ever been you." She was only just seeing what the cause of her past relationships falling apart was.
Then it was Spencer's turn to confess. "I tried. With, uh, with M-Maeve." He choked out.
"Did you love her?" Y/n questioned, not wanting to push it too hard. She had seen how broken he was after he saw her get murdered. So she had come to her own conclusion.
Spencer tilted his head, thinking about it all. "Yeah." He decided. "I loved her a lot. And I don't know what would have happened if she was, um, st-still here." He figured, trying not to cry. "But there's something different about this." He tried to explain, voice perking up.
Y/n squeezed his hand, letting him know it was okay. "I loved Liam." She admitted, thinking back on her ex-boyfriend. "But the problem was it didn't feel as good as I expected it to feel." She said like it was a question.
"Come here." Spencer requested, opening his arms so they could cuddle. Now that he had her so close, it was going to be impossible for him to let go.
Y/n moved into his arms, feeling more comfortable than ever before, laying on his bare chest. He ran a finger through her hair, gazing at the softness of her face.
Y/n traced her finger down Spencer's chest, trying to memorize every inch before she stopped at a scar he had on his lower. She looked up at him with a frown. "How's you get this?" She asked him.
"You know in Tenessee?" Spencer asked her.
Y/n hummed. "That time like 2 years ago?" She replied, preparing herself for the memory. It was a case she wouldn't ever be able to forget.
Spencer nodded. "Two years, three months, twenty-one days, and nineteen hours." He corrected her. "Give or take the minutes, I'm not exactly sure."
Y/n giggled at him. "How are you, of all people, not sure?" She asked with a cheeky grin, trying to find something to smile about with the memory of the day.
Spencer's face was anything but cheerful. "You got shot." He reminded her. She pointed to her abdomen, where she still had a faint scar. "I don't know how much you remember, but I was the one who found you, Y/n." His face paled, and he felt like he wanted to throw up at just the thought. "And I just froze because I didn't know what I would do without you in my life. I only knew Maeve for a few months, but you had been my best friend for years. I knew what I needed to do, but I couldn't move." He told her, tears welling in his eyes. "Thankfully, Rossi was behind me because he tried to keep you conscious while the paramedics came." He continued, letting a tear slip. It wasn't something he had talked about before because of how much it hurt. "You pointed to where he ran, and I knew you were alright, so I just went after him. Running as fast as I could until I caught up with him, he tossed the gun. Naturally, I went to arrest him, but my hands were so clammy that he got one loose, grabbed a knife, and stabbed me." He retold to Y/n, who was in complete shock.
"How did I not know?" She asked the main thing she didn't understand.
"You were out for almost 2 days. It only took a few hours for them to gave me stitches." Spencer figured.
"I remember you were there when I woke up." Y/n realized thinking about all the jello Spencer made sure to get her. She never got to thank him for it.
Spencer smiled at her, beyond grateful she was alright. "You have no idea how worried I was, Y/n. It was so bad that they gave me Diazepam." He admitted.
Y/n's eyes widened. "Spence." She reached out to hold his face. "You know it wasn't your fault?" She asked, fearing he might be footing the blame.
Spencer sighed. "I know, I mean, I didn't shoot you. But, I still feel so horrible about freezing." He confessed. "If you... uh... if you didn't make it... a-and it was my fault... I just couldn't have kept going." He voiced his worst fears.
Y/n shook her head, wiping the tears on his cheek. "I know you feel guilty. But you can't think about the 'what if's." She assured him. "I know because I felt like that. Before you went to prison when I knew something was up. And so many other times when I just couldn't help but think about if I could have done something. The most important thing is you're okay, I'm okay, and we're here." She reminded him, trying to offer as much reassurance as she could.
Spencer nodded gently. "I love you, and thank you."
"You never have to thank me, Spence." She reminded him. "And I love you too."
Those 3 words were something neither of them would ever get sick of saying.

***
Another Friday night and the team was out bar crawling after an easy case. But this time all members were there as it reached 11pm which was rare. Usually Hotch and JJ would have been home by 10:30 and Spencer wouldn’t have been there at all. But there was something light in the air which had all parties concerned sitting packed in a booth, laughing after each sip of their drinks.
Since it wasn’t your first rodeo together you knew how the night went. It started off with Rossi offering to buy the first few rounds, always whiskey but he made an exception for Penelope. Then again who would deny her anything.
Once the drinks were flowing and lips got a little loose, the questions would start popping in at the top of your heads. However these were not your run of the mill, ‘hows so and so doing?’ ‘done your taxes yet?’ oh no. The name of the game was discuss where you would all think of a question which would help you dig just a tiny bit deeper into your coworkers sex lives.
Maybe if you were all sober then you’d avoid thinking of each other in such positions, pun intended, yet in this state your prying minds were open and your stomachs were ready to grow abs from bending over in laughter.
You raised the margarita glass up clinking it with a fork to get the tables attention. Everyone including Aaron had a smile on their face, ready to hear the intrusive question for the night.
“Ok my fellow profilers, doctor, and tech genius,” you added pointing at Spencer then Pen, “Do you kiss your partner after they give you head? Discuss!” you finished in your most formal voice.
Right as you took a swig of your drink the mixed responses of yes and no filled your small space.
“Why wouldn’t you? You guys especially, if someones willingly trying to swallow then you damn well owe them a kiss,” Emily finished earning nods and ‘exactly’s from JJ, Pen, and yourself.
“Ok but thats weird. I just can’t explain it but its a no go for me,” Morgan finished. This only gained him a scoff and raised voices, “Hotch man help me out here,” he said looking over to the man hiding his smirk behind the amber liquid.
“I have to agree with the ladies here Derek,” he said curtly.
The girls yelped and hooted at Hotch for siding with them while Morgan sat with his arms crossed being the singular person left out as even Rossi agreed. Meanwhile you noticed the presence next to you had shrunk back and wasn’t too active in the conversation.
“So Spence do you kiss your partner after they,” you trailed off shaking your fist by your cheek and poking your tongue in the side.
He coughed as he instantly sat up quicker. Even under the dim lights of the bar you could still see the blush creeping up from his neck to his ears and the slightest tint on his cheeks.
“Oh I uh- I never-” he said looking anywhere but your eyes.
“You don’t kiss them?” you said raising your brows.
“No! I-i mean yes. I would I think b-but I haven’t had the chance to actually partake in such.. activities,” he finished finally taking a look into your eyes.
You could tell he was waiting for you to laugh in his face for being so inexperienced but you felt far from it. If anything you wished you could be the one to show him things.
That sweet boy had you wrapped around his finger and he didn’t even know it. Maybe it was his naivety considering how exceptionally smart he was. Or maybe it was the cute sweater vests he wore and now he nervously tucked his hair behind his ears. All you knew was that you wanted Spencer Reid and tonight was your night to make it happen.
You hummed taking in the information, “Well that’s not a bad thing Spence. Everything takes time,” you said putting your hand on his arm for comfort and giving him a smile.
Going to turn back to face the table you almost didn’t hear Spencer go to speak again, “Do you?”
Got him.
“Why don’t you find out pretty boy,” you said with a wink as you downed the rest of your marg. In the corner of your eye you could see Spencer shifting in his seat, subtly moving his bag to cover the slowly growing tent in his slacks.
As the night went by you couldn’t help but really give him a show. You had popped open a button or two on the long sleeve you had on, since it was getting stuffy in the booth. Though when you leaned forward and jutted your chest out, the soft inhale of a breath from the man next to you was just serving as motivation to get bolder.
For the last hour you called it quits on the alcohol and drank a few glasses of water before you drove home. Spencer had been uncharacteristically quiet ever since your little interactions.
The team had all gotten up to say their goodbyes. Rossi going by and giving everyone a kiss on each cheek. Derek having to quite literally rangle Penelope from talking to passing by groups on their way out. Then there were two.
You turned to the side where Spencer was nursing on his coke, “Hey pretty boy, it’s late, let me give you a ride home,” you said grabbing your belongings.
“Y-yeah ok. Thanks Y/n,” he said getting up. You’d noticed how he still had the burnt orange bag over his crotch. He couldn’t still be hard could he? Well you’d love to find out.
As gentlemanly as he was, Spencer opened the door for you to exit the building first. The whip of fresh night air cooling on your exposed chest and legs under your skirt.
You unlocked your car and stepped in, Spencer waiting to hear the little beep signaling his side was open. As he sat down you heard him let out a little whimper. Your head shot over to look at him, you could tell from the flush on his cheeks he didn’t mean to let the noise out.
Holding in your chuckle you started the ignition and pulled out of the lot, “Can I put on some music?”
“Yeah I don’t mind,” he said looking over at you with his lips in a line. If it was anyone else, they’d probably think he was uncomfortable but you loved his tiny awkward smiles.
The ride to his apartment was mostly silent besides a rare quip from Spencer about paper work or fact about an older building you had passed by. It fascinated you to no end hearing him talk. Spencer was a hand speaker, meaning he always used his hands waving them around and making gestures. The pale digits had you captivated. Probably a driving hazard but you couldn’t help but let your mind wander.
You pulled up into one of the visitor spots and put the car in park. You looked over to see Spencer almost contemplating something. You’d seen the look on his face before when he was looking over puzzles.
“Somethin on your mind Doc?” you said with a small smile. As cute as he looked when he was nervous, you’d never want him to feel uncomfortable around you.
“Would you-,” he cleared his throat, “Wo- Would you maybe want to c-come inside?”
“Of course Spence I’d love to,” you finished with a reassuring nod.
As he led you upstairs you were giddy with anticipation. So what if nothing happened. He was your friend first and you were glad he was letting you into his personal space. Even if you wanted nothing more than to have him writhi-
“Y/n?”
The door closing snapped you out of your thoughts. You didn’t even realize you were in his living room. The dark green walls and shelves bursting with books put a grin on your face, “Sorry Doc, just caught up in my thoughts. What did you say hun?”
His brows practically raised to his hairline from hearing the pet name. While he was used to the names coming from Garcia they took a whole different light coming from your lips.
“I was asking if you wanted water or something,” he said fiddling with the keys in his hands. Eyes darting everywhere but your face so you wouldn’t be able to see the flush rising on his cheeks.
“No I’m fine thanks for asking though,” you said taking a seat on the worn leather couch.
You reached for the tv remote making a face at Spencer to ask for permission. He nodded and you settled back turning on an old sitcom that played late at night.
As the episode ended you both sat in silence. Again you didn’t mind but you could practically hear the cogs moving in Spencer’s brain.
You were about to speak when he cut you off before you could even get a word out, “What did you mean by ‘why don’t you find out’.”
Gaining confidence you moved closer to where he was on the couch, slow enough for him to stop you in case he wanted to back out.
“Well you have options pretty boy,” you said moving a leg to straddle him. Your hands instinctively going to his brown locks. You could’ve sworn you heard a little moan leave his chapped lips. Noted.
“W-what are the options,” lust blown eyes looked up to yours.
“One, you can put that mouth to good use on me,” you said trailing your finger over his bottom lip, “and let me cum over that pretty face.”
His eyes shut hearing your words and you weren’t having it, “Nuh uh eyes on me honey,” instantly they were back on yours.
“Or number two. I can suck you off and let you cum down my throat, but,” you paused making sure to roll your hips on his growing length, “ you have to give me a nice big smooch after.”
The hands on your hips pulled you closer as he bucked his hips into you as you finished the sentence. It was clear which option was preferred.
You moved to slide down in between his legs. You let your hands trail down his clothed thighs, causing him to jump.
“Tsk such a needy boy,” you said mockingly, “Am I not going fast enough baby?”
“Please Y/n,” he all but whimpered. It was like music to your ears.
Your hands went to his belt, looking up in his eyes for a final sign of permission. Once he nodded you quickly undid it and he lifted his hips to help get his pants down. You palmed him over his boxers, feeling the wet patch where he was already leaking pre cum.
“Is this all for me Spence? Does the thought of my lips around you make you this hard,” you said taking him out of the striped confines.
“Oh god please just,” he cut himself off. You could see his hands curling fists besides his legs.
“Please what baby? I can’t give you anything unless you ask.” Your hands continued their task of leisurely stroking his length.
“Fuck please put your mouth on me,” he rushed out, hips bucking to prove his point.
The answer was good enough for you so you wasted no time in leaning forward and taking him in your mouth. Both of you let out content sighs as you tried to take him further.
You looked up to see him with his head leaned back, eyes scrunched closes in pleasure.
You pulled off with a pop, letting your hand work him over. “Better keep those pretty eyes on me before I decide you can’t finish.”
He looked down with a flash of worry, that was quickly replaced by a loud moan as you spit down on his cock before taking him in your mouth again.
For a germaphobe, Spencer loved how nasty it was. He was thanking god or whatever higher being there was for giving him his eidetic memory because the sight below him was something he’d never wanna forget.
Your eyes were teary and you had spit dribbling down your chin but he wanted nothing more than to give you more than just a kiss after you finished. Or well after he finishes.
You could tell he was close by the way he was throbbing on your tongue. Again taking him out of your mouth you used both hands to jerk him off.
“You’re doing such a good job baby. So good for me. You wanna cum in my mouth pretty boy?”
“God Y/n I’m so close please please please,” he whimpered out.
“Cum for me baby, be my good boy Spence,”  you said before taking him down your throat. He was big, not girthy but long and it was a struggle but you’d be damned if you didn’t try to take him all.
Hollowing your cheeks you bobbed your head quickly, egging on his release further. His hands finally found a place in the back of your head. Pushing you down further as he came.
“F-fuck Y/n I’m gonna”
His moans and whines were a symphony of sounds you’d have on repeat in your head forever.
You swallowed the salty release but before you could even wipe your lips you were being pulled up by Spencer placing his lips on yours. You moaned into the kiss, his hands gripped the sides of your face not wanting to let you go.
The need for air made you both pull back. You looked at one another, chests heaving and looking like you ran a marathon.
Then a sad look came across his face.
“Spencer what’s wrong?”
“You didn’t get any pleasure,” he said looking like a hurt puppy. Oh your sweet boy.
“It’s ok baby, I can take care of myself,” you tried to shrug off.
He was quick to push you back on the couch, taking the spot you were previously in. His warm lips trailing down your exposed thighs.
“I wanna do it, but only if you kiss me after.”

The Shooting Range
A/N: This can be read as a part of my Hotchner’s daughter mini series but can also be read individually.
Summary: Reader and Derek is at the shooting range to train reader’s skills. Derek has a plan to make her focus.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!reader (Hotchner’s daughter)
Word Count: 824
Warnings: guns, teasing about a partner, mentions of kissing, nicknames (plum cake & pretty boy).
Tumblr media
Today you and Derek were at the shooting range. Derek wanted you to get better at target shooting from a distance. You weren’t bad, you were actually pretty good at shooting, but during the last couple of cases you weren’t able to hit the target.
It frustrated you and every member of the team could feel your frustration.
Normally your behavior was calm and collected, but it has changed to frustration and anger. Not towards anyone but you were just frustrated with yourself.
“Ear protection?” Derek asked.
“Mhm.” You hummed and showed him the ear protection.
“Safety glasses?”
“Yup.” You showed him your safety glasses.
“And the most important question, are you ready?” Derek asked with a slight grin on his face.
“As per usual, I was born ready.” You smiled back at him.
You grabbed your 9mm Glock gen 5 gun and went over to your desired lane. You prepared your gun with ammunition and made sure it felt right in your hands.
Derek made your targets ready and took out a smaller notepad to write down how you were doing.
Your first round of shooting went bad. Only hit the target 3 times out of 15 possible shots.
You scoffed at your score. “How did I even become an agent if I can’t hit the target?”
“You just gotta focus. There’s always a point when an agent can’t hit their target.” Derek explained to you in a calm voice.
“I know but, as a new agent, I should be able to hit the target with at least 90% of my possible shots.” You scoffed and loaded your gun again.
Derek had been making a plan, alongside with Penelope, for what he could do to get your head to focus. I was to mention yours and Spencer’s relationship.
“Plum Cake?” Derek said to get your attention.
“Mhm.” You answered back as you got your target ready.
Derek gave you the nickname Plum Cake back when you caught an Unsub who had just gotten into a psychotic break and you had put up a hard exterior to protect your own sanity.
The only 3 people who could break it down were your dad, Penelope and Spencer. Sometimes Derek as well.
“I’ve heard that you and pretty boy have been on a couple of dates.” Derek started as you pointed your gun towards your target at the end of the lane.
“I don't know where you’ve heard those rumors, but me and pretty boy have not been on dates.” You lied and shot directly at the middle of the target hitting exactly where the heart should be.
“You know Garcia, she has her suspicions and she might have seen you two in the local coffee shop last week.” He explained further with a smirk on his face.
“We just went to grab a coffee to talk about this job.” You lied further but you did shoot a good headshot that would kill instantly.
“She also saw you two exchange some kisses as well.” Derek teased.
It was all true. You sometimes hate being friends with profilers. They knew everything.
“And what if we did?” You asked and shot two times in a row. Both times hitting the head making them the perfect headshot.
“Pretty boy has a phobia for germs and I know that he wouldn’t just kiss anyone…” he paused and let you shoot two more shots. Perfect shots to the heart. “I think you and Pretty Boy are dating.” Derek smirked.
You lowered your gun and looked around trying to figure out what to respond with. He had you wrapped around his little finger.
“And I have my answer.” He chuckled.
“Just don’t tell my father. Or anyone else for that matter.” You said and pointed your gun at the target again.
“Well pretty much everyone, except for your father, knows it. So I wouldn’t be too concerned to get official when he isn’t around.” Derek said and looked towards the target to see where you would hit.
“I hate profilers.” You scoffed and shot the target and hit the goals with precision.
You had hit your, now damaged target, with chest and headshots that would result in instant death if it was a real person. You felt proud of your accomplishment.
“15 out of 15 possible. I’m proud of you Plum Cake.” Derek smiled at you and wrote it down on his notepad.
“Thank you. I tend to focus more when my mind is set to protect my partner. Or my lover as you would call him.” You smiled softly and looked at Derek.
“Then that should be your motivation to stay focused when you’re shooting, cause one missed shot can lead to the unsub running away.” he explained.
You nodded at his words. The thought of protecting Spencer while being out in the field, really warmed your heart. It also made you feel more powerful to protect your partner from evil.

You had heard a lot about the BAU team before joining them.
About the cases, the trust, the bond. It had always been something that had fascinated you. You had experienced some things with your previous team as well, but the BAU was in a whole different league.
Before you had been moved there, you had already familiarized yourself with the teammates. You didn't want to come unprepared to a team that knew each other inside and out. Also, you were a person who put your foot in your mouth quickly.
You were most impressed by Doctor Spencer Reid. You had heard the most about him. He was a genius, with an IQ of 187 and he could read 20,000 words a minute. Not to mention his eidetic memory. You had even read his doctoral dissertations. While you didn't understand everything, they were incredibly interesting and gave you a little insight into the mind of the spectacular Doctor Spencer Reid.
When you first met, you concentrated on not reaching out to him. You merely raised your hand to greet him, which he returned with a smile, and although he tried to hide it, you knew that this small gesture meant a lot to him.
While the other team members put their hand on his shoulder or ruffled his hair, you were almost tensely careful not to touch him. If he should want to, he would make the first move.
It happened some time later, as you stood side by side in the office kitchen. While Spencer poured himself a coffee, you poured hot water into your teacup. You asked him for the sugar that was next to him, and instead of sliding it over to you as you had been doing, he held the dispenser out to you. You reached for it and when your fingers brushed his, it went through you like an electric shock. You suddenly felt warm and your heart beat faster, but Spencer didn't seem to notice. He smiled at you before walking back to his seat. You looked after him.
After that incident, you were both a little more relaxed. While you didn't push it, Spencer didn't seem to mind you handing him files or touching each other briefly when you sat next to each other. After an incident on the plane, even the team noticed.
Spencer was on his way to the trash can when you got up to sit with Emily and Hotch to discuss the current case. You squeezed past each other as the plane made an unexpected swerve. You tried to grab onto the seat next to you, but the sway was too sudden. Before you could fall, Spencer grabbed your arm with one hand and your hip with the other and held you tight. He pulled you straight toward him so you wouldn't land face down on the ground. Even when the plane was back on course, he didn't let go. As you tried to regain control of your irregular breathing from the shock, Spencer looked at you closely. You felt his gaze on you, almost burning into your forehead, but neither said a word. As you broke away from each other and each sat down in your seat, you noticed his gaze still on you. When you looked up, he looked away.
Next came your birthday. Even though you didn't want to celebrate and your real plan was to have food delivered and watch your favorite movie for the hundredth time, the team dragged you to a bar. "Pathetic," Derek had called the plan, and you had punched him affectionately in the shoulder, but by the time he put the first drink in your hand, you had all but forgotten his comment. While some of you sat at a table and the rest enjoyed themselves on the dance floor, you sat at the bar. You did love your team, but on your birthday you didn't want to hear about any cases outside of work. Which couldn't be avoided when you were around each other 24/7.
You sipped your drink, secretly cursing Derek for having so much alcohol in it. You scrunched your nose.
"Did you know that alcohol tastes different when you drink it with a straw?" Spencer asked, sitting down in the empty chair next to you. You turned to him and raised an eyebrow questioningly. "When we ingest something, the aroma molecules go up our nose and we can tell from the start whether it's going to taste good or not. Also, the nose detects different flavors than the tongue. So if you drink the drink with the straw so the glass is farther away from your nose, you'll perceive the taste of the drink differently than it is." Even in the dim light of the bar, you could see how red he was getting. When you didn't answer, he laughed nervously and ran a hand through his hair. "Sorry, I was rambling again."
You took another sip of your drink. "Don't apologize, Spencer. I like that you're so smart. And I like that you're comfortable enough to want to share your knowledge with me," you smiled gently at him. He returned your smile.
"I appreciate you not reaching out to me then, by the way," he confessed, nibbling on the label of his beer bottle. "I don't like shaking hands with strangers, and it makes me uncomfortable when I'm expected to but I don't. So, thanks for that."
"It's okay," you said, but he let go of his bottle and turned to you completely.
"You never pushed me to do this. You waited for me to make the first move on this because it means more to me than it does to you. There aren't many who are that respectful and understanding." He got up from his chair, but left the beer bottle on the counter. He held out his arms. "I haven't wished you a happy birthday yet because I didn't want to do it in front of the team. They'd make a big deal out of it." He gestured for you to give him a hug. He actually wanted to hug you.
"Spencer, you don't have to do this," you said, but before you knew it, he had grabbed your hand and pulled you off the chair, right into his arms.
You had often imagined what a hug from Spencer would be like, especially when you saw him hug JJ or Emily after a hard case. But you had imagined it differently.
He had his arms wrapped around your waist and held you so close that you almost couldn't breathe. You felt his long fingers on your skin, despite your T-shirt and you felt his warm breath on your neck and his curls on your temple. Goosebumps spread over your body and you prayed he didn't notice. "Happy birthday," he whispered in your ear and before you knew it, he placed his lips on your cheek before pulling away from you. Smiling, he reached for his beer and sauntered back over to the table, leaving you standing at the bar. With a pounding heart and fire in your veins. And in that moment, you just thought that work colleagues, or even maybe friends, shouldn't feel that way about each other.
After your birthday, it was no longer an issue for Spencer. Under the table, he'd nudge you with his knee if you weren't paying attention for a second, or he'd put his hand on your shoulder when he looked over you at the computer screen. He also didn't mind if you were so exhausted from a case that you fell asleep by his side on the plane, with your head on his shoulder. You didn't realize it, but JJ had pointed out that Spencer always pulled you a little closer then, resting his cheek against the top of your head. For him, the constant touching was no longer an issue.
For you, it was. Every time his skin brushed yours, you felt warm and your heart skipped a beat. Whether it was at dinner, at a briefing, or just walking by. But it was bearable.
It got bad when he touched you longer. On particularly hard cases, he had taken to looking under the table for your hand and squeezing it twice. It was a gesture of friendship and care. If you held each other, nothing could happen to you. On the plane, you always sat next to each other, playing cards or absorbed in your own thoughts. Spencer, however, got into the habit of putting your legs over one of his if you had to fly for a particularly long time. At first, the team gave you strange looks, which made you uncomfortable, but didn't bother Spencer in the least. So you tried not to let on, which was pretty difficult when you were surrounded by profilers. Flames blazed in your veins at those touches, heat tingled under your skin where he touched you, and when he pulled you into his arms on certain occasions, you almost felt dizzy.
This is not how you should feel about your best friend.
"Thales, Miletus, here's your key," Hotch said, tossing Spencer the room key as the team checked into the hotel. He'd resisted at first the nickname Garcia had picked out for you - classically, after the discoverer of magnetism - but since everyone was using it, even the earnest Hotch had given up on it. "Prentiss, JJ, your room is right next to ours." The two women nodded and the four of them walked down the corridor while Derek was kind enough to take the girls' bags.
You couldn't look after them for long, because Spencer had already grabbed your hand and intertwined his fingers. "Come on. Our room is waiting."
You had never shared a room. You'd either always had your own, or shared one with Emily or JJ, but never with Spencer. You wouldn't mind so much if you weren't into him. Hopefully there were two beds. On opposite walls. Far away from each other.
When Spencer unlocked the door and you entered, you wanted to sink into the floor. Double bed. One blanket. You tried to mentally prepare yourself for the stay by setting your bag down on a chair and stopping in the middle of the room while your best friend inspected it. He didn't seem to notice that you had only one bed and, more importantly, only one blanket. At least, it didn't bother him.
When you returned to the room that evening, you went straight to the bathroom and took a shower. The water was as cold as you could stand it. It was supposed to cool you down and prepare you for the night. It wasn't every day that you shared a bed with your crush. After combing your hair and changing, you slipped under the covers and tried to fall asleep as quickly as possible so you wouldn't notice Spencer's presence next to you when he came out of the bathroom.
Your thoughts cheated on you. What if you snuggled up to each other in your sleep at night? Or you would unconsciously snuggle up to him, but he didn't want you to? Then you'd have to get another room tomorrow. And it would get so awkward that you wouldn't be able to look him in the eyes.
"What are you thinking about?" asked Spencer finally as he climbed into bed next to you. Immediately, you felt his warmth. He hadn't taken a cold shower, apparently.
"It's always hard when kids are involved," you answered truthfully. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't what was floating around in your mind either.
"Come here," he said, opening his arms. Hesitantly, you slid closer to him so there was still space between you, but it didn't seem close enough for Spencer. After he turned out the light, he pulled you close enough for you to rest your head on his shoulder and with his free hand, he reached for yours and intertwined your fingers again. Your heart stopped. "We can do this, Y/N. We've done it all so far." You heard his heartbeat beneath you, felt his breath on your hair, and the warmth of his body burned into your skin. "Try to get some sleep. We'll know more tomorrow," he whispered, pressing a kiss to your forehead before you fell asleep.
When you woke up in the morning, you felt Spencer behind you. His chest was pressed against your back, his arm was wrapped tightly around your middle, and he had his face buried in your neck. Immediately goosebumps spread all over your body. You tried to pull away from him a little, but he pulled you even closer. Spencer was still asleep, so he didn't notice how he carefully slid his hand under your shirt and how his long fingers danced over your soft skin. You held your breath, afraid to move or give away your racing heartbeat. At one point he pulled his arm back and turned onto his back before lifting his hand and rubbing his eyes. His hair stood out in all directions and he smiled sleepily. You were getting hot.
"Good morning, Y/N." Good morning indeed.
The case took longer than planned, though of course you can't plan a case. After the third night, you had gotten used to sleeping next to Spencer, but the cuddling worried you. The longer you shared that room, the more complicated your feelings became. It was almost unbearable.
Derek, Emily, Spencer and you found the unsub in a remote car yard. While the latter surveyed the building, Derek and you looked around the yard.
"What's going on between you and Reid, anyway?" he asked curiously. You gave him a meaningful look, but he didn't care. "It's come to all of our attention. You guys are inseparable, he has to touch you all the time, and those looks."
"What looks?" you probed, trying to sound as unsuspecting as possible. This time Derek was looking at you. So he had noticed. And if Derek knew, so did the others. Fucking profilers.
"Y/N," he started, and stopped. When you turned to him, he twisted his mouth into a weak smile. It was a very different Derek who stood before you. Not the go-getter who sometimes made fun of Spencer. He seemed genuinely worried, and that made you nervous. "Friends don't look at friends that way."
A loud bang rang through the air and the conversation was all but forgotten. You took cover and communicated via hand signals. Quietly, you moved forward. It wasn't long before you saw a figure running away behind the cars. "We got him," Derek said into the mic, and together you dashed toward the unsub. He ran toward the woods and disappeared. Derek looked at you and nodded. You split up.
Gun drawn, you ran forward. Leaves crunched beneath you, but you tuned that out. You focused on the birds above you, the shadows of the trees, and the gun in your hand. He had to be here somewhere.
You didn't even startle when you felt cold metal against the back of your head. "Don‘t. Move." You took your fingers off the trigger and raised your arms. "Put the gun down. Vest off." Slowly, you bent down and placed both on the ground. The only thing you could think about was that you would hopefully find them later. "Walk.“ With your hands clasped behind your head, you took one step at a time. Derek was nowhere to be seen. You wished you hadn't split up.
He led you to a rundown cabin in the woods that wasn't marked on any map, which is why you couldn't have known about it. He pushed you inside and closed the door behind him, his gun still pointed at you. "If you had wanted to kill me, you would have done it long ago," you gave out, but he didn't go for it. It was a game of fire. You knew the file and what he was capable of.
It was only a few moments before someone kicked open the door and Derek stormed into the cabin, closely followed by Spencer. "Put the gun down and keep your hands off," Derek yelled. Up until then, you hadn't realized that the he had pulled you close and was holding the barrel of his gun right to your temple You only had eyes for Spencer, who was deliberately not looking at you.
You tried to get his attention, but he wouldn't budge. You raised a hand and moved it toward your shoulder, hoping Spencer understood your message. But he wasn't looking at you.
Look at me, Spencer. Come on. Look. At. Me.
His eyes moved from the unsub to your fingers, tapping a spot in your shoulder. You repeated this until he finally looked you in the eye. Then he shook his head, barely perceptibly. Again you tapped the spot. If Spencer shot through your shoulder, he would hit the perpetrator in the torso, and even if the bullet slowed down through you, it would still do enough damage. And you were willing to take the risk.
But Spencer didn't shoot. And time was running out for you. "I trust you," you said, no sound escaping your lips. He gritted his teeth. "I trust you, Spencer. Do it."
And then he shot.
-
"Welcome back, sunshine," Derek grinned, wrapping you in his muscular arms as you entered the office. "We've all missed you."
It had been three months since you had been shot in the field. Spencer had shot you through the shoulder as planned, and you were right. The perpetrator was shot and the rest of the victims were found. So it was almost a happy ending.
Almost. Of course, you had to listen to a few more things from Hotch on the way to the hospital. You were tired of living and he was disappointed and angry, but incredibly relieved that nothing else had happened to you. You could have been the next victim, too.
"All of you?" you prodded, and Emily, who had joined you, screwed up her face.
"He's not back yet. He extended his vacation," she said, putting a hand on your shoulder. "He's not really over it yet."
You hadn't heard from Spencer since the incident. He hadn't visited you at the hospital, called you or been to your home after you were discharged. You were best friends and the fact that you hadn't seen him in three months hurt more than the gunshot wound. The only person Spencer talked to was JJ, but even she couldn't give you any information.
He probably blamed himself, but why? You had wanted him to shoot. It had been your plan. Besides, he had shot so well that you didn't suffer any permanent damage. He shouldn't worry about it.
It was strange to work a case without him. Not having him near you. Not being able to feel his warmth. You tried to reach him, by phone, by letter, but you got no answer. Even though you hadn't spoken in months, he was your best friend and you were starting to get really worried. He had cut off contact with JJ himself.
When you walked into the office one morning, you were almost breathless. Spencer was standing at his desk, leaning against it, and the others were standing around him. But you had no eyes for them. Spencer was back. Your Spencer was back. As you walked toward them, you got a sinking feeling. He looked good. Changed, but good. His hair was a little shorter and he didn't look as pale as usual. He also seemed more confident and self-assured, which unfortunately made him even more attractive.
He didn't see you until you were almost in front of him. He smiled weakly at you before standing up straight. "Y/N," he said, and it felt so good to hear your name come out of his mouth. Immediately, goosebumps spread across your body. You expected him to give you a hug or insist on talking to you in person, because a lot had happened in the time without him, but he didn't. He turned around briefly and pulled something off his office chair. Not something. Someone. "This is my girlfriend, Vicky."
You didn't know what had happened in the last few months. Did you even want to know? Spencer hadn't contacted you in a long time, only to reappear with a girlfriend? You didn't understand the world anymore. The rest of the team must have felt the same way, because as you stood at your regular table in the bar, the couple was the only topic of conversation. In fact, you would have preferred all the murder cases.
"I'll be honest," Penelope said, taking a big gulp of her drink, which took quite a while since she always drank with a straw, "I was hoping you two would get together." She pointed her finger at you and then toward Spencer, who was standing at the bar with Vicky. You saw her run her finger through his hair and had to look away. Didn't she know he didn't like that?
"Hotch and I even bet money on it," Emily confessed, turning back towards the table. Apparently she didn't want to watch them either. "We would have gotten you a nice wedding present from that."
"He looks happy," you said, but you guessed that's not what the others wanted to hear from you. You sat at a table made up mostly of profilers. They knew exactly how you felt about the whole thing.
"Give it a rest," Derek said, putting his arm around your shoulder. Even the overly positive music in the background couldn't lighten your mood. "We all know how you feel about Spencer. And honestly, we thought he would feel the same way about you."
"But he doesn't, so please let it go," you shot back, instantly regretting it. Your friends weren't to blame for the whole situation. It was you. As you dared another look, Vicky pulled Spencer onto the dance floor, which you knew he didn't like either. Didn't she know him at all?
"I don't know what got into him," JJ confessed, sipping her Coke. "Those two don't even fit together." They didn't, but maybe that's why it worked. There was this theory that opposites attract, but you could never have imagined it with Spencer.
When Vicky grabbed Spencer by the tie and pulled him down so she could kiss him, your heart broke. It was different when you just knew two people were doing something. But when you saw it, all hope was lost. Even from a distance, you could see their tongues and you almost threw up.
"That's my sign," you said, pressing a kiss to Penelope's cheek. "See you." They all said goodbye to you and even over that awful music, you could still hear "It must hurt terribly to see him like that" and "I couldn't do that" as you walked.
Outside, the cold night air surprised you. It hit you in the face like a slap, but nothing hurt as much as knowing Spencer was happy without you. He didn’t need you and he didn't want you. That was fine, but that didn't mean you had to go along with it. Since he'd been back, he'd barely spoken to you. On the plane, he had sat at the other end of the room, and he had actually switched rooms at the hotel just so he wouldn't have to be near you. He'd even started shoving files back at you instead of handing them to you, like he'd burn if he touched you.
The lights in Hotch's office were still on when you came into the office. It was just after midnight and you knew he would still be there. When you knocked on his door, he invited you in. "What can I do for you?" He hadn't even had to ask. He knew why you were there. It was written on your forehead. "Are you sure about this? I'll write a recommendation, but only if you really want me to." You nodded silently. "It's because of him, isn't it?" he asked, his usually hard expression softening.
"Yes," you answered curtly. There was nothing to add.
"I'll make some calls. You get a week to pack. I'll call you tomorrow," he said, getting up from his desk. Surprisingly, he pulled you into his arms. "We're all going to miss you terribly, Y/N. And you're welcome here anytime."
It didn't take long for your things to be packed, and it didn't take long for the others to notice the following day. Your desk was empty, the files had been processed, the pictures of you and the team were gone, and your mug with a picture of Spencer and you on it that he had once given you was gone, too.
"Where is she?" asked Emily Derek, who didn't have an answer ready either. They looked around uncertainly and as the rest entered the bullpen, Hotch came out of his office. He looked like he hadn't slept. He walked down the steps and stood in the circle of confused team members. Even Spencer was puzzled.
"Agent Y/L/N left us last night," he began, sounding very composed. The others didn't know how to respond, so they just gave each other confused looks. "She has asked for a transfer and will start there next week. Please refrain from trying to talk her out of it. The transfer has gone through."
It took everyone by great surprise when Spencer dropped his bag and stormed out of the office. He didn't need to explain where he was going. It was obvious. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and tried to call you, but it went straight to voicemail. It wasn't long before he arrived at your complex and shot up the steps to your apartment. He took two steps at a time. He stopped in front of your door and pounded his fist against the wood, hoping you would open the door for him and explain what you were doing. When nothing happened, he dialed the number again. Again and again, until the voice in the phone said to him, this number was no longer in service.
He ran his hand through his hair before sliding down with his back to the door. He put his head between his knees and cursed himself.
You weren't there anymore.

One kind of intern
(A/N): This was requested by @greenslifestuff :) It took me a week or two because I had to interact with my friends in order to get the inspiration I needed 😅 Summary: The team gets to work with a gen z teenager. Let’s see how that goes.
Warnings: Swearing and gen z humour
Wordcount: 2k
✨Masterlist✨
___________________________________
“Team, this is (Y/N) (L/N). She will be interning for the upcoming three months alongside this team. (Y/N), these are Agents Emily Prentiss, Jennifer Jareau, David Rossi, Derek Morgan and Doctor Spencer Reid and our Technical Analyst Penelope Garcia”, Hotch introduces a teenage girl to his team like this happens every day.
“Wait Hotch, we don’t get interns. What is she going to do, no offense, but getting us coffee or what?” Morgan eyes her suspiciously. She looks like any teenager grabbed from the street. A band t-shirt, a torn pair of jeans and a cup from starbucks in her hands. Nothing you would expect to even enter a federal building.
“No offence taken, Agent Morgan. I know having an ugly pickly bitch working with professionals seems weird. It’s just I have summer break and I thought it would be a good thing on my resumé if I already interned in the FBI, because I just graduated and I wanted to go to the academy this fall. But if you wanna do a vibe check with me first, that’s fine by me. Whatever floats your boat.”
The room falls silent. Then out of all sudden everyone turns to Garcia, who puts her arms up in defense. “I don’t even know half the things she said, ask her yourself.”
That’s how the BAU gets their first contact with Gen Z culture and let me tell you it is a wild ride, so buckle up your seats, drink your tea up because we aren’t going to make any stops.
“(Y/N), I need you to come with me. We are going to the M.E. getting the latest reports from our last case”, Morgan tells her while passing her desk. In the blink of an eye the teenager is ready, putting her denim jacket with various pins and bits of patches on.
“Derek, can we get starbucks on the way back? The pumpkin spiced latte is back on their menu and I am on withdrawal. Pleaaaaaasseeee”, she looks at him with a pouty face. Morgan smiles. “Ok, under one condition: We both get one, take awesome pictures and send them to the group chat and then we act like we didn’t get them anything, but we actually buy them their usual.” He got the hang of it pretty fast. “Deal, Sis.”
While they are in the car on their way to the M.E. the agent groans. “Ugh, road work ahead.” “Uh yeah, I sure hope it does!” Morgan eyes her from the side. His whole demeanor says ‘old and confused’.
“What was that, kid?” But (Y/N) begins to laugh. “Don’t you know vines? Short dumb and funny clips people made?” It’s safe to say that this afternoon he learns to speak in vines, getting on Rossi’s nerves because nothing makes sense anymore.
“Ok, I heard you wanted to become a profiler. So I thought I would show you some old cases and then you try to figure out the profile. I’ll present them to you like I do to the team, alright?” JJ and (Y/N) sit in her office, safe from curious eyes. “As right as the law, Ma’am.”
“Good, this is a case from several years ago. It happened here in D.C. Three men were murdered execution style in the middle of the night in an alleyway. They were all from different backgrounds. The only connection between them was that they were evicted for some form of sexual harassment or assault. The UnSub also had a signature: A shot into their groin while the men were alive.”
Unfaced by the presented facts (Y/N) pops a piece of gum into her mouth. “It do be like that.”
“What?” “I mean, it’s obviously a woman. She experienced any harassment or assault herself. She also has excess to the files, I assume she works as a paralegal, since most of them are women. Female serial killers are extremely rare, but they are better organized. The only thing left to say is good for her getting revenge.” The blonde looks at the teenager with wide eyes.
“I-I guess but you know you can’t say anything like that to Hotch, do you?” She asks concerned. “JJ, I’m dead inside, not dumb. I know this.” But the agent shrugs. “Good. Though I really want to see his face.” “Mood.”
Penelope Garcia is the closest one to relate to Gen Z culture, since a great part of her time is spent on the internet. She happily learns about all the phrases and their meanings as well as the newest trends and hypes.
“Purp is sus, I tell you”, is heard from the lair into the hallway. Spencer and Derek look at each other with concern on their faces. “Do you think they are alright or do we have to-” “IT’S A SELF REPORT I SWEAR PENNY! YOU WORK WITH PROFILERS IN GANDALF’S NAME!” Spencer’s question is answered by that.
“Baby girl, crazy girl, are you doing good? Do you need help or something?” The older one asks warily. But it’s drowned in another screaming match. “I TOLD YOU PURP WAS THE IMPOSTER BUT YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM I VENTED WHEN I DIDN’T! I WANT ALL TIKTOKS I SENT YOU BACK!” “YOU DON’T DARE TO REVOKE MY TIKTOK PRIVILEGES!” “WATCH ME GARCIA!”
“Whoa girls, what about taking a break?” Morgan tries to diffuse the situation. “Yes, I think JJ got new pictures of Henry and Emily brought cookies this morning”, Spencer adds.
The girls, who mere seconds ago were ready to jump each other's throats, look at the other one. “You get the cookies and I go to JJ, deal?” (Y/N) asks. “Deal!” Without sparing the boys another glance they run out of the lair. Their devices are still lit up. A red figure shines into their faces. ‘AMONG US’ is written underneath it. “I think we get too old for this stuff, don’t we Reid?”
Spencer always thought he was young. Of course, his mind is older, but physically he is not that old. But the intern proves him wrong. And boy is he wrong.
“Spencer, is there anything interesting to know today?” (Y/N) takes a seat on his desk, distracting the genius from his paperwork. It is a common occurrence for her to go to him to ask for a fun fact.
“Do you wanna learn something about sloths?” His knowledge (or the writer’s) on this subject is astonishingly big.
“Spill the tea, sis.” “Did you kn- What? But I don’t have tea to spill. And I don’t wanna spill anything, I-” Reid rambles in confusion.
“It’s just a saying, Spencer. There is no deeper meaning to it then ‘Tell me everything about it’. You know, it’s mostly used for gossiping, but I don’t really like to gossip. That’s why I use it in a different context. You got it?” (Y/N) explains it to him in a soft manner, knowing her generation can be complex.
“Yeah, I think I do. Thank you for telling me. I really like the phrase. It has a nice ring. What about you spill the tea about all the phrases you know and I tell you some things from my knowledge?” “I think you got yourself a teacher, genius. But now tell me about the sloths, I love them.”
A few days later Rossi catches her doing some weird moves. “Are you having a seizure or what is your problem, youngster?” Even though he tries not to show it, David took a great liking to (Y/N), thinking of her like a granddaughter. Still, most of her actions confuse the hell out of him.
“I’m practising a dance for tiktok. My friends and I worked on a choreo we wanted to film later. Come here, I can show you.” And that’s what she does in the conference room. The teenager walks him through every move of the choreo, explaining the meaning to it and how it correlates with the song.
“And then you move your arm like that. Exactly like that! You did a great job, David! Are you sure you don’t want to come with me later? We can make you your own account and name it ‘Grandpa-on-tiktok’. You can promote your books over there and it’s a way to float with the trend!”
Seeing her this excited Rossi can’t do anything but agree to the idea. Also, he secretly liked doing the dance thing. It made him feel young again.
“(Y/N), you said you graduated this summer. But your file said you are 16?” Emily asks her one boring day filled with paperwork and countless cups of coffee. “It is what it is”, she mindlessly answers, too focused on filling out the work in front of her.
“I mean yes but how?”
“Emily, smart people exist. I know, coming from me hits different, but here we are.” Finally (Y/N) puts her pen away looking at the raven haired woman.
“What are you talking about? I can’t really follow you.” The more the intern says the more confused gets Emily.
She sighs. “I don’t want to leave you on read here. I kind of am smart somehow. Apparently I was smart enough to skip a grade or two. But it’s no biggie. Many peeps do this, so I don’t sweat it.”
“Even though I feel like you are selling yourself short here, I know you are an incredibly intelligent person. Someday you will be an awesome profiler and any team will be lucky to have you. I really hope we will be the lucky team. But I’m still not sure if this is what I should say in this context.”
“Emily, you are goals. This fam is squad goals. I really hope to be a part of this someday”, (Y/N) admits. “I’m sure Hotch will do his best to get you on the team, you became a great part of it. I can’t imagine a future without you.”
Sadly Prentiss has to get used to a time without the team’s beloved intern. On her last day (Y/N) knocks at Hotch’s door.
“Hey, I wanted to say thank you. The time with you and all the others was amazing and I learned so many useful things for not only the academy but also for my daily life. I really had a glow-up here”, she says after coming in.
Hotch motions towards the chairs in front of his desk. “Take a seat, (Y/N). I got something for you. See it as a compensation for not getting paid for your internship. You really did great work and a better job than some agents, who are doing theirs for many years already but don’t know half the stuff you do. You are a valuable member to the team.”
“Wait, you speak in presence tense. I leave you all this afternoon, you know that, do you?” But the Unit Chief only gestures to a white envelope on his desk. Quickly the teenager takes it and reads it.
“Are you serious Hotchner? Because I will cry you a river if you joke”, she threatens him.
“I’m dead serious, (Y/N). Even though half of your talks are difficult to understand, the other half is twice as useful and important. Additionally to that, you are like a fresh breath of air that the team needed. That’s why a place here will be available for you as soon as you graduate from the academy. I trust you that you will pass with flying colors, I had to promise that to Strauss.”
“Of course, Hotch. I swear on my Animal Crossing Island that I will do my best and more. Thank you so much”, she leaps into his arms.
The others watch the interaction from the bullpen, pretending to not get teary eyed. Their favorite Gen Z Kid will come back to them after all.

rationalizations
rationalizations: a defense mechanism in which one makes up a false but reassuring explanation to explain their behavior and/or feelings to both themselves and others, thus avoiding the reality of why they are really acting or feeling as they do.
summary: You’re the psych evaluation for Spencer. You think he’s full of shit, so you refuse to sign his clearance form until he actually tells the truth.
pairing: spencer reid x f!reader
category: angst (happy ending)
content warnings: spencer’s canonical trauma, flashbacks, mentions of suicide and suicidal ideation, swearing
a/n: i wrote this for @imagining-in-the-margins‘ enemies to lovers event. it’s not my favorite trope, but one of the prompts sparked inspiration for me. i also took a good amount of inspiration from meredith’s various therapy scenes in grey’s anatomy, so if some of it feels familiar, that’s why! i swear i intended to make this cute and funny, but, well… here we are lmao.

Spencer throws his bag onto his desk with a frustrated huff. It thumps loudly, startling JJ at her desk across from his. She gives him a sympathetic look regardless. “Still not cleared yet?”
“No!” Forgetting that it’s wheeled, he drops himself into his chair. It skids backwards and he has to scramble to grab something to keep from falling out of it.
“Careful there,” JJ says, trying valiantly to suppress a laugh. “That psychologist's got you really worked up, huh?”
“I don’t know what she wants from me!” he complains. “It’s been nearly a month! Hotch’s ex-wife was murdered by an unsub, but they cleared him. I was only shot in the neck.”
“I mean, that’s still kind of a big deal,” she says. “You could’ve died, from the gunshot, or from the nurse that tried to kill you afterwards.”
“Speaking of that nurse,” he starts, “Garcia is the one who shot him and she’s been a wreck over it. She insisted on going to the guy’s execution. But the therapist cleared her!”
“Penelope’s not in the field,” JJ points out.
He crosses his arms. “Still. This isn’t the first time I’ve been shot. That possibility is part of the job. It’s not like it came out of nowhere and I was completely unprepared for it.”
“I don’t know what to tell you, Spence,” she says. “Just keep all of your appointments and I’m sure you’ll be cleared soon.”
He pulls a stack of papers on his desk towards him. Paperwork—one of the things he’s actually allowed to do. “I better be,” he mutters.
---
“And it was really scary, you know?” Spencer wipes at his eyes with a tissue. “Not knowing if I was going to live or die.”
“Mm-hmm.”
He takes a deep breath. “But… it’s over now. The preacher who shot me died in the same shootout. Owen McGregor, the leader of the corrupt deputies, died later that night, in another shootout. And Greg Baylor, the one who posed as a nurse and tried to kill me, was sentenced to death row and he’s gone now, too.”
His psychologist makes a note on the paper in front of her, but doesn’t say anything, so he continues.
“I… I feel better now, just letting that out.” He takes a new tissue and dries his nose. “I feel ready now. Ready to go back to work.”
She nods slowly, considering him. But she doesn’t even look towards her desk where the clearance form sits, frustrating him to no end. After five minutes of silence, he breaks.
“You can’t be serious.”
She raises an eyebrow. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I’ve been coming to these sessions for over a month, and I’m still not cleared to be in the field. I…” He musters up more tears and makes sure his voice wavers during his next words. “I just don’t know what you want? I’ve tried everything.”
“No, you haven’t,” she says plainly.
He blinks in surprise, sending some of the crocodile tears down his cheeks. “What?”
She crosses her legs. “You’re full of shit.”
“Excuse me?”
“You’re not being honest with me, and I don’t think you’re being honest with yourself either,” she says. “You’re a great actor. I can see how you’ve gotten clearances easily before. But that stops with me.”
Spencer stares at her. “I don’t understand.”
She moves her notebook to the side. “What happened in Texas isn’t the first time your life’s been in danger. Why do you think that is?”
“Wh—that’s part of my job,” he argues, fake crying long since forgotten.
“Not to the extent that you take it. I’ve read your file,” she says. “You take unnecessary risks with regularity.”
The tissues crumple in his hand as he clenches it. “I do not.”
“Let’s go back to the beginning.”
“The beginning of what?”
“Of your career.” Yet she doesn’t take out his file, or look at her notes. She speaks from memory. “2005. The BAU is assisting with a hostage situation. You go into the train, posing as someone who is there to remove a microchip from the unsub, but the first thing you do? You take off your bulletproof vest.”
“Okay, clearly you don’t understand what the situation was,” Spencer cuts in. “Ted Bryar was suffering from a psychotic break. He was somewhat unpredictable, and he told me to take off the vest.”
“And you just listened?”
“He—he had a gun, and was threatening both me and the other passengers with it!” he says. “What was I supposed to do, not listen?”
“Uh, yeah,” she replies. “You easily played into his delusions just a few minutes later to distract him. Why not do that to keep yourself safe?”
“I was twenty-four and was running on adrenaline,” he says defensively. “And it was my first time doing something like that. You can’t expect me to think of everything.”
“You’re right, I can’t,” she agrees. “So let’s jump forward a few years. How about the time you approached a teenager who was wielding an assault rifle with no protection, not even your own firearm?” she challenges.
“You mean Owen Savage? That was a unique situation,” he protests. “I knew I could talk him down.”
“No, you didn’t. You thought you had a good chance, but there’s no way to be one hundred percent sure of that. He was volatile, and on a killing spree,” she counters. “You didn’t know if you’d succeed--”
“I did!” He startles himself by unconsciously raising his voice, but he doesn’t apologize. “I did, because….”
“Because you related to him,” she fills in. “And that’s fine. Having empathy for an unsub doesn’t suggest something’s wrong in and of itself. But you still put yourself, and the rest of your team, in danger, didn’t you?”
He crosses his arms. “I got that lecture from Hotch when it happened, okay?”
“So then why’d you confront an unsub alone a few years later in Miami?” she asks. “You didn’t even tell anyone where you were going. You left your vest behind and just ran off.”
“I was having a head—wait, how do you even know that happened?” he questions. “It wasn’t in the report.”
“Well, first of all, you just confirmed it,” she points out, and he wants to kick himself. “Secondly, I can read between the lines.”
“I was having a headache,” he repeats. “I wasn’t thinking all that clearly. I just knew Julio’s life was in immediate danger, so I went to help him.”
“Uh-huh. More recently,” she says, brushing past his excuse, “You confronted your girlfriend’s stalker without your vest or gun.”
Spencer’s getting angry now. “I was trying to save Maeve. She asked me to leave them behind.”
“And you simply listened. Do you see the pattern I’m drawing here, Dr. Reid?” she asks. “These are just a few of the instances that stand out. Time and time again, you put yourself in unnecessary danger. So I’ll ask you again. Why do you think that is?”
Spencer looks over her—really looks over her, trying to understand what she’s getting at. “Are… are you suggesting that I’m suicidal?” he asks quietly.
She looks him straight in the eye. “You don’t act like someone who wants to be alive.”
It’s like she set off a bomb in his brain. Memories, and the feelings attached to them, emerge—Elle handcuffed to a seat, a teenager with a rifle, a blinding headache, Maeve and blood on the warehouse floor.
“Here’s what I see,” she says. “I see a man who’s been through so, so much. Your mother is mentally ill, your father left--”
His father is packing a suitcase. Spencer doesn’t know what he’s supposed to do or say, so he falls back on what he knows.
“Statistically, children who grow up in two-parent households attain three more years of higher education than children from single-parent households.”
It doesn’t help. “We’re not statistics, Spencer.”
“Your file says she’s staying at an institution, and with your father out of the picture, I can only assume you were the one who had her admitted--”
“Spencer, please don’t do this to me!” she cries as she’s escorted out of the house by Bennington Sanitarium’s transport staff.
“A few years into your work here at the FBI, you were kidnapped, tortured and drugged--”
He’s tired and cold and his whole body aches. Tobias—the real Tobias—looms over him with a syringe.
“Please. I don’t want it,” he pleads of his captor. “I don’t want it, please.”
The needle punctures his skin regardless.
“—you were held hostage by a cult leader--”
Emily sits across from him on the plane with a black eye. “What Cyrus did to me is not your fault.”
He pretends to agree.
“—you went through the death and reappearance of Agent Prentiss--”
He’s tried to make it clear to Jennifer that he wants to be left alone, but she won’t stop trying to talk about it with him, and he’s had enough.
“I came to your house for ten weeks in a row crying over losing a friend, and not once did you have the decency to tell me the truth.”
“—and your girlfriend was shot in front of you.”
“Who’s Thomas Merton? Who is he?” Diane demands, gun pressed against Maeve’s head.
“He’s the one thing you can never take from us,” Maeve replies, and Spencer’s heart drops. Thomas Merton is Maeve’s way of saying goodbye—she’s giving up.
“Wait!” he cries out, but it’s too late.
“This is just some of the more traumatic stuff. And then there’s what happened last month, which is why you’re here. You present a face of not being bothered by all of this, because that’s what you’ve been doing all your life, but I think you are bothered. You really, really are. And you don’t want to admit to anyone just how much it all has affected you. Maybe you don’t even want yourself to know.” Her expression and tone of voice are certain.
Spencer can’t take it anymore. The whirlwind of emotions and memories is overwhelming.
“The number of times you’ve almost died is staggering--”
“Yeah, and sometimes I wish I had!” He glares at her, breathing heavily. “Is that what you wanted to hear?”
But she doesn’t seem intimidated or alarmed at all. She leans back in her armchair. “Now we’re getting somewhere.”
The response only serves to make him angrier. She questioned him relentlessly and made him admit something he swore in the dark hours of sleepless nights that he’d never think again, never voice, let alone admit to anyone. She forced it out of him, forced. She made him say it against his will.
So why does he feel a sense of relief?
“I…” Tears well up in his eyes—real ones this time. “I’m done,” he chokes out.
He pushes himself off of the couch and out the door, slamming it shut behind him.
---
He storms in Hotch’s office and demands to see a different psychologist. But she was one step ahead of him—a few hours before the appointment, she had emailed Hotch and told him that under no circumstances should Spencer be allowed to get a clearance from someone else.
“And you’re going to believe her?” he cries.
“She’s doing her job, Reid.”
“You barely know her! You’ve known me for a decade!”
“Yes, I have,” Hotch agrees. “And you’ve told me yourself that you’ve fooled psychologists and therapists before. So if this one is saying you’re not ready yet, I’m inclined to believe her.”
Spencer just stares at him, but as usual, Hotch doesn’t blink.
“Unbelievable,” Spencer eventually mutters.
“Take the rest of the day off,” Hotch replies, glancing down at fists Spencer hadn’t realized he was clenching.
“Fine.”
Too agitated to stand in the elevator, he takes the stairs. As he stomps down them, he swears he’ll never go back to her office, even if it means never going into the field again.
A week passes, then two, and he hasn’t seen the psychologist since. But he doesn’t feel any better—he actually feels worse. It’s like her words broke a dam in his mind, in his gut, and feelings of unease and uncertainty won’t pass. It keeps him up at night. Her words echo in his head. “You don’t act like someone who wants to be alive.”
Spencer’s had yet another sleepless night and is struggling not to doze off at his desk despite the coffee he’s drinking. He stands up with the intention of splashing some water from the bathroom sink on his face, but his feet take him somewhere else.
He stares at the nameplate on the door. He swore he’d never go back, yet he feels compelled to knock.
It only takes her a few moments to answer. “Dr. Reid. Can I help you?” she asks.
“I…” He sighs. “Are you busy?”
“No. Come on in.” She steps to the side, opening the door wider to let him pass. He sits down on the couch.
She waits patiently. She doesn’t rush him. She lets him speak first.
He wrings his hands in his lap, staring down at them. “Something you said is bothering me.”
“What was it?”
“About… living,” he admits quietly. “I… I think you might have been right.”
When he gets the courage to glance up at her, he finds a soft smile on her face. “Would you like to talk about it?”
Spencer hadn’t realized he was expecting judgment and disdain until it didn’t happen. His shoulders slump down in relief. “Yeah,” he says. “Yeah, I think I would.”
---
“Youre still thinking about her, aren’t you?”
Spencer looks up from his paperwork, slightly out of it, to find Derek watching him. His coworker had, indeed, caught him thinking about her again. His psychologist. Well, former psychologist. After his second session back with her, she’d handed over a clearance form and a referral to a therapist outside the bureau to see long-term.
“And you better follow up with that,” she’d told him, the corner of her mouth turning up despite her serious tone of voice. “I’ll know if you don’t.”
He’d promised that he would, and had followed through. But despite the progress he was making with the new therapist, he was feeling a little disappointed that he didn’t get to see her anymore. He only saw her in passing, sometimes in the elevator or walking down the hallways of the building. They would exchange hellos, she would ask how he was doing, then give him a little wave as she left. Each time his heart would skip a beat, and he’d feel an urge to follow her to wherever she was going.
Yet he hadn’t quite realized why he seemed to be preoccupied with her until a dream he had a few weeks ago—a dream in which he found himself kissing her. Despite being alone in his bedroom, he’d woken up feeling embarrassed. He promised himself that he would put her out of his mind. Having a crush on his psychologist? It was ridiculous.
But then he saw her in the elevator a few days later and he couldn’t help but analyze her body language. It was open, and she twirled her hair around a finger while she looked at him to ask him how he was. A few other people entered the elevator on the next floor, but her attention remained on him. They were subtle signs, but signs that he recognized nonetheless—signs of attraction. And once he started seeing them, he couldn’t stop.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Spencer tells Derek, picking back up the pen he hadn’t noticed he dropped.
“You can’t pull that on me, kid,” he replies. “It’s your psychologist. You can’t stop thinking about her, can you?”
Spencer sighs. “So what if I can’t?”
“So go ask her out already!” Derek says like it’s obvious.
“You don’t think that’s just a little inappropriate?”
“You’re not seeing her as a client anymore, are you?” he points out. “Go for it, kid. You’ll regret it if you don’t.”
Spencer takes the advice—as soon as Derek said it, he knew he was right. He would regret not taking a chance on her and the connection he felt. Sure, she’d helped him with therapy, but it went deeper than that. It feels like she knows him.
He leaves the bullpen ten minutes early that evening, hoping to catch her before she leaves for the day. On her doorstep, he feels just as nervous as he did on the day he admitted that she was right, but it’s a different kind of nervous. An excited nervous. He knocks on the door.
She’s surprised when she seems him. He watches as her pupils dilate, and it boosts his confidence. “Dr. Reid. Can I help you?”
“You can. I’d like to talk,” he says.
“Oh. Well, I guess I could do that,” she says. “I thought things were going well with the therapist I referred you to, though.”
He shakes his head. “No, I don’t mean I want an appointment.”
Her eyebrows come together in confusion. “Okay, then, what do you want?”
Spencer doesn’t hesitate. “I want to take you out to dinner.”
“I’m sorry, what?”
“I really like you, and I think we’re meant to be together,” he replies, voice softening a bit.
She pauses before answering. When she does, her voice is gentle. “Dr. Reid, sometimes a medical professional’s care can start to feel like affection over a period of time, but--”
“No one has ever listened to me like you do,” he interrupts.
“That’s my job,” she points out.
“I’ve seen therapists before, but none of them have been like you,” he counters. “You understand me.”
She sighs. “Well, I’m glad I was a good fit and was able to help you. But that doesn’t mean that I see you as anything more than a client.”
“You’re lying.”
“Excuse me?”
“You do feel something more for me,” he says firmly, but then backtracks a little. “Well, I know you’re attracted to me at least.”
She blinks and shakes her head slightly, take aback. “Dr. Reid, this is not appropriate--”
“Please call me Spencer,” he says, then jumps into his explanation. “See, when we’re attracted to someone, our bodies display involuntary signals, and I’ve seen you do some of them when you’re around me. Whenever we run into each other here, your body will turn a little towards me and you’ll play with your hair. Your attention is almost entirely focused on me. And, when you see me, your pupils dilate. They did it when you opened the door just a few minutes ago. Oh, and I’m attracted to you, by the way,” he adds as he realizes how one-sided he’s been. “I imagine my pupils probably dilate when I see you, too.”
Her mouth opens and closes a few times, like she wants to speak but doesn’t know what to say. She looks flustered, and he wonders if maybe he’s pushed it too far or said too much, but he can’t turn back now. “So, please, let me take you out,” he says quietly. “Just… just give it a chance.”
She bites her lip and looks at the ground. There’s a crease between her eyebrows, which he’s come to learn means she’s thinking. She speaks seriously when she looks back up. “If I go out with you, I can’t treat you anymore. If you ever need another evaluation or session, you’d have to get it from someone else.”
“I know,” he says. “I get along well with the therapist you referred me to, though. And having to get clearance from a different psychologist at the bureau is something I’m willing to give up in favor of getting to know you better.”
She considers him. “You’re serious about this,” she states.
It’s not a question, but he answers it anyways. “I am.”
She tilts her head to the side, eyes unfocusing as she ponders the situation. Eventually, she says, “Let me think about it.”
It’s not exactly the answer he was hoping for, but he’ll take it.
---
It’s only six PM, but Spencer is already exhausted. He unlocks his apartment door, fully intending to collapse onto his bed, but instead receives a pleasant surprise in the form of his girlfriend waiting for him on the couch. He can’t help but smile.
“Sweetie, what are you doing here?” he asks, then adds, “Not that I’m complaining.”
“Penelope told me it was a bit of a rough case,” she replies. “And I missed you.”
She holds out her arms and he takes the invitation, joining her on the couch and laying down between her legs, placing his head on her chest. “I missed you, too.”
Her next words are overly familiar. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“Hey, we agreed to no therapy,” he says. “Something about I can’t be your client anymore?”
She huffs. “This isn’t therapy. This is being a good partner.”
Spencer smiles into the fabric of her shirt, snuggling in closer. “I know, I’m just teasing you. I don’t need to talk about the case,” he says, finally answering her original question. “I feel fine now that I’m here with you.”
She lets out a pleased hum and starts running her fingers through his hair. “I ordered take-out for dinner, by the way.”
“Where from?”
“You know where.”
A wide grin spreads across his face. She must have ordered take-out from the restaurant he took her to on their first date. He lifts his head to look her in the eye. “Aren’t you glad you said yes to me all those months ago?”
“Oh, I suppose,” she says with pretend annoyance, rolling her eyes.
Then she kisses him.
Spencer’s never been so happy to be alive.

Ok hear me out. Spencer is dating Reader and she’s always hated that she’s been more chubby/curvy. And one night in the middle of a case she calls him crying and Spencer just gets really soft and calms her down after a bad nightmare. And his heart breaks cause his loving girlfriend hates her body. So Spencer plans this elaborate date and proposes maybe? You can decide if the team have met her or not. I’d like it to be the original team but if you wanna combine the original and new teams together that’s cool too!
no bc my body image issues have been rampant lately so this is personal as hell to me. I work out a lot and i’m fit but i’ve never been SKINNY like i have thick legs and muscular arms andnnfnfjndjnffn so this is personal.
I modified this a bit but it’s still the same premises hope you like it! ***BTW IN THIS UNIVERSE THE S3-7 CAST EXISTS FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW— SO THE LATER SEASONS HAVE MORGAN AND HOTCH.
also sorry this is a long

You know, pragmatically, that you have nothing to worry about. Spencer chose you. And for the past four years, Spencer has worshipped you every day— again and again. He is the most loving, considerate, and tender partner you could ever wish for. He is near perfection.
You’ve met Spencer's friends many times. You’re not close with either of your parents, so the team of profilers welcomed you into their arms with grace and care. Each and every one of them is beautifully amazing and exceptionally brilliant.
Spencer‘s friends are not only badass, but they’re also gorgeous. JJ, Emily, and Garcia are national treasures— so visually stunning it’s almost sickening.
You knew he used to have a crush on JJ way before he met you. You’ve also heard the tale of Lila Archer, the celebrity actress who made out with your boyfriend in a pool. Spencer’s had an eventful life, full of beautiful, sweet, magnificent women— so why does he choose you?
You view yourself as bland in comparison. What do you have to offer Spencer that he can’t find elsewhere? You don’t have toned abs, slim hips, and slender arms. You’re not striking in any way.
Spencer calls you every night when he’s away on a case. He’s never missed a call, even when he got shot in the neck and kidnapped by a murderous cult. He’s reliable and consistent, and that eases your worries a little bit.
It’s eleven pm in D.C. and your phone rings right as your getting in bed.
“Hi, my love,” Spencer says breathily, his voice slightly muffled by the phone. He’s away in Ohio for a case.
“Hey.” You reply, the sweetness in his voice soured by your mood. “How’s the case going?”
“Good. JJ and I are about to pass out in our beds— we’re so tired.”
You can’t help the way your face drops. “Oh. Well, get rest.”
Your about to hang up before he interjects. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Why?” You know better than to lie to your boyfriend, who happens to be an expert on human behavior.
“Okay, I know a lie when I hear one. (Y/N), baby, what’s wrong?” He pleads.
You can’t help the tear that rolls down your cheek. “God, I’m sorry. I just miss you so much. You always know what to do when I’m feeling like shit.”
Spencer knows how much you struggle with self and bodily acceptance. He hates the world for making you feel anything less than incredible, both inside and out.
“I miss you too, so much, (Y/N).” His voice is thick as if he’s going to start crying too. “I love you so much, so fucking much. You have no idea how beautiful and amazing you are.”
“I don’t deserve you.”
“That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.” He laughs through a sob that wrecks his body. “You deserve everything in this world. I promise to give you everything you’ve ever wanted. You are the love of my life.”
You wipe the tears from underneath your eyes. “Sorry for keeping you up. You must be tired.”
“Never, if it means I get to talk to you.”
“I love you, Spencer.”
“I love you too, (Y/N). More than you’ll ever know.”
-
Spencer wakes up the next day with a newfound determination. The team solves the case as fast as possible, and by the end of the night, they’ve boarded the jet back home.
Spencer has more than enough hours to think about you and how much you mean to him. Hotch is seated directly across from him, rereading the case files.
“Hotch?” The wiser man looks up from his files, raising an eyebrow.
Spencer pauses for a moment. Maybe he’d be better asking Morgan or JJ for advice, considering Hotch’s tragic circumstances regarding Haley.
But no one loves like Hotch does-- sincerely, passionately-- stronger than anything else in the world. Spencer decides there’s no one better to ask.
“How uh did you know that Haley was the one?”
Hotch’s eyes soften for a bit. He clears his throat. “I knew since the day I met her that I would love her for the rest of my life unconditionally. She makes me complete. Do you feel that (Y/N) makes you complete?”
He already knows why Spencer is asking for his advice, steering the conversation in that direction.
“Yes. She’s my world.” Spencer whispers.
“Then it’s simple, really. Love doesn’t need to be complicated and precise. It’s what you do with it that matters.”
“I want to marry her, Hotch. I want to be with her for the rest of my life.”
Hotch smiles, “Then do it.”
Spencer feels the rush of excitement as he gathers everyone on the jet, including the prior sleeping passengers, filling them in on his big plans.
“I need all of your guys’ help.”
-
There’s a firm knock on your door at four in the morning. You know it isn’t Spencer because he has a key, but who could it be?
You take a cautious look out of your peephole to find Penelope, Emily, and JJ outside.
“What are you guys doing here?” You yawn. “For god's sake, it’s four am.”
“We know, and we’re sorry.” Penelope smiles.
“Is Spencer alright?” You ask, wondering if things suddenly went wrong during the case.
But by the joyous look on their face, you know nothing somber occurred.
“Spencer’s completely fine. But, we need to you to get changed and come with us. FBI’s orders.” JJ chuckles.
You change into warmer clothes in minutes, and the BAU ladies usher you into Emily’s car as fast as possible.
“So, no ones gonna tell me what’s going on?”
They shake their heads, “We’re just... running a quick errand.”
After a few more minutes of driving, Emily parks on the side of a dimly lit street.
“I need you to put this on.” She says, holding up a blindfold.
“Are you guys gonna murder me?” You joke, slipping the fabric over your eyes with little resistance.
“Quite the opposite, actually.” You don’t have time to think about what Penelope means before you’re being yanked out of the car.
You walk, guided by JJ, for four minutes. The grass beneath you crushes below your boots, and the hushed whispers of Emily and Penelope behind you do nothing to calm your nerves.
“Okay,” JJ says, halting to a stop. “You can take off your blindfold now.”
You hesitantly slip the blindfold off, revealing a brightly lit table in the middle of a secluded field. Morgan, Hotch, and Rossi are standing off to the sides.
Suddenly, Spencer emerges from behind a tree, dusting the leaves and dirt off his adorable sweater.
“Hi?” You laugh, utterly confused by this situation. “What’s going on?”
His hands are shaking, and he has to swallow a few times before he can speak. “I-I uh got y-you apple pie— uh your favorite.”
Spencer walks you towards the table, where a small slice of warm pie sits lonely on the table.
“Y-you should um... eat it.” He urges, pointing at the knife and fork next to it.
You glance around, trying to gauge the emotions of everyone around you, but fail. Stupid profilers and their poker faces.
Your fork cuts into the heavenly smelling pie, and you scoop up a bite into your mouth.
“It’s... good? I’ll pretty much eat any pie you give me, Spencer.”
He smiles, “I know that. But t-this is a special pie.”
“Okay...”
“You should t-take a closer look— at the pie.”
You inspect the dessert, completely puzzled until a glinting piece of silver catches your eye. Spencer notices the shock in your face and catches the plate that almost falls out of your hand.
Morgan hands him a napkin, and when Spencer pulls an apple-covered ring from the slice of pie, you almost faint.
“No way.” You gasp; tears spring to your eyes as Spencer wipes the ring clean.
He holds it tightly between two fingers, bending to kneel on one knee.
“(Y/N) (Y/M/N) (Y/L/N), I knew from the moment I met you that you were the most special woman I’d have the pleasure of meeting. A month later, you asked me out for our first date, and I couldn’t believe that someone as gorgeous and amazing as you would settle for someone like me.” You scoff at his humility.
“I spend every moment loving every part of you, (Y/N). None of my love will ever stop— ever. I promise to share my heart with you until the very end. There is absolutely no one I would rather be bonded to for the rest of my life. You are better than my dream girl because you’re real. You’re here, and you chose to love me every day— the good, the bad, and the ugly. (Y/N), will you do me the honor and great privilege of allowing me to become your husband?” You silently sob.
“Please say yes.” Spencer smiles.
“Yes!” You exclaim, pulling him up to hug him. “How could I say anything but!”
The dam breaks, and the entire team begins to cry as you and Spencer share a passionate kiss, almost collapsing down onto the grass from the sheer force of your love. He slips the ring onto your finger; it belongs there.
“I choose you, (Y/N).” He repeats.
“I choose you, Spencer, always.” You whisper into the crook of his neck.
Nothing’s ever felt so right.

I Think He Knows
Y/N has a huge crush on Spencer Reid, so huge she embarrasses herself every time she tries to talk to him. She is convinced he is aware to all her pathetic attempts at flirting and just chooses to ignore it, but turns out Spencer may be a little more clueless than she thought.
Tumblr media
A/N: Hope yall enjoy this cute fluffy fic! I’ve been having a rough couple of days so writing a fun fluff like this was really comforting :) yes it is inspired by the t swift song, but you don’t need to know the song to read and enjoy! also my requests are open so let me know what you want to see! (also sorry if this is kind of short, but i’ve been super busy and wanted to put something out :)))
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader
Type: a cute pining fluff fic
Word Count: 2.3K
Content Warnings: mentions of alcohol, otherwise none.
“He got that boyish look that I like in a man I am an architect, I'm drawing up the plans It's like I'm seventeen, nobody understands No one understands”
“He has to know Penelope, I’m not exactly subtle.”
You and Penelope spent the majority of your lunch breaks in her office, discussing anything and everything. Recently however, the point of contention had been a certain young genius. One who you had a huge crush on.
“Spencer Reid may be a genius, and one of the best profilers I have ever seen but he most certainly does not know,” she said, as she drizzled more dressing on her salad.
“He has to, it feels like everyone knows. . . Do you think everyone knows?”
She shrugged, “They might, I know my Chocolate Thunder hasn’t picked up on it yet.”
“You haven’t told him? It’s already been a week since I’ve told you! How did you keep it a secret for so long?”
“You asked me very nicely not to tell anyone! Plus this one seems really important to you. I don’t want to go around telling people and for Reid to hear it in office gossip.”
You smiled, “Well you Penelope Garcia are the best, best friend ever.”
“You know it, now I know you desperately want to repay me for my services, and you can by giving me those exact ranch packets you have in your bag,” she said.
“They’re all yours, now let’s discuss something other than my pathetic schoolgirl crush. Like how stupid Kevin’s sweater was today.”
“Kevin? The other internal affairs technical analyst? Yeah what the heck was he wearing?”
“You know, I’m tired of having to carry the weight of the brains, looks and fashion sense out of the two of us,” you said. “Though, that is a good way to gather attention . . . I wonder if Spencer would actually hold a conversation with me if I wore something as ugly as that.”
She laughed, “You know I think that might send you backwards.”
You stabbed your lettuce, “At this point I’ll try anything.”
Before Penelope could respond, someone interrupted your lunch, your only other friend on the BAU team, Emily Prentiss.
“Oh hi Y/N! How are you!”
“I’m good Emily, what kind of gross things are you here to deliver today?” you and Emily joined the FBI at around the same time, and found comfort in the fact that you were both total try-hards. Emily was going to eat lunch with you and your fast friend Penelope, at least on days when she was in the office for lunch, but you and her both agreed that she should eat lunch with the team so that they can get used to having her around.
“Just some paperwork, no cases yet, knock on wood. Also I just wanted to say hello! What are you guys eating?” she asked, pulling up a chair.
“Some salads from that takeout veggie place PG is always talking about. I told you I was going vegetarian right?” “You did not! That’s great Y/N! We need to talk more, like we used to when we first started here,” she sighed, then perked up, “We should have girls night! Remember how fun it was that night at the bar? With Brad the real FBI agent?”
“Yes! We should! You know, Gideon’s replacement comes tomorrow, we should celebrate!” Garcia said.
“You know, I don’t know if the best way to celebrate a new agent is by drinking without them, but I’m down. We’ll toast our girls night to agent Rossi. Someone ask JJ if she’s busy.”
JJ was not busy, but when you and Emily asked, Morgan overheard.
“So am I not invited to the party?”
“Well it was supposed to be girls night . . . but I think PG would throw a fit if I turned down her 2nd favorite person in this building, so I guess you can come,” you teased. “You should come too Spencer!”
“I don’t know, that’s not really my thing . . “
“Oh come on! I know I would love to see you there,” you then realized that you were embarrassing yourself being so forward. “And I’m sure everyone else would too!”
“Alright, I’ll come, but I’m not drinking.” he said firmly.
Before you could respond, Penelope magically appeared. “Good, you can be completely sober when Y/N gets wasted and embarrasses herself,” she said.
“PENELOPE! I’m not the light weight here! you’ll see Spencer, she’s actually awful. Two shots in and she’ll be on the floor,” this was apparently the wrong thing to say, because Spencer grimaced. “But it’ll be so much fun! You have to be there! You already said yes!”
“I just don’t know if seeing all of my coworkers get drunk while I watch is my idea of a fun evening. . .”
“Trust me! I’ll even stay sober with you, so we can judge them together. It’ll be a blast.”
“Ok, I’ll be there . . . but for now I need more coffee,” he pulled his chair out and walked towards the office kitchen. You silently cheered, forgetting how people were still standing around you.
“Well,” you awkwardly laughed, “um, I guess I better be getting back to my neck of the woods. I’m not a hot shot profiler like the rest of you guys . . . so see you all later!” You tried to escape before anyone interrogated you about your conversation with Spencer. However, a certain profiler followed quickly behind you.
“So. . . you and pretty boy huh?”
“Shut it Morgan.”
{⋅. ♪ .⋅}
You stayed true to your word that night, Spencer stuck to water and you enjoyed a diet soda. The bartender, who you had grown fairly used to seeing on your many nights out, was shocked to hear you didn’t want any alcohol in it.
It’s probably a good thing that you didn’t drink, you already embarrassed yourself enough in front of Spencer fully sober.
“So Spencer, you know that new bookstore you said you were going to go to after work a couple weeks ago?”
“New bookstore . . .? Oh yeah! What about it?”
“Well after I heard you talking about it I decided to check it out . . . It’s really nice there! I go like every other night now! We should totally go together sometime.” Luckily, you were sober enough to keep a secret: the fact you were only going so much in the hopes of running into him.
“Oh really? If I’m being honest I wasn’t super impressed with their selection, it was mostly contemporary fiction. And all in English . . . Not really my thing,” when he saw the way your face dropped he quickly changed his tone, “but it’s great if that’s your thing!”
This. Is. Humiliating. The amount of times you had gone and bought books from the bookstore, you were there almost every night hoping to run into him after work and start a conversation. You felt stupid, of course he wouldn’t want to go on a book store date with you. If Spencer Reid didn’t like you so much that he wouldn’t even go to a bookstore with you, there’s no chance at a relationship.
“Oh haha, yeah you’re right it’s totally lame. . .”
“Didn’t you just say you went there all the time?”
“No! When did I say that? You must be drinking Dr. Reid,” you said, quickly hopping off your bar stool, and running towards Morgan and Garcia, not turning around to see how confused Spencer was, but only being able to imagine him as relieved. Relieved he didn’t have to make conversation with you anymore.
“I’m blowing this PG, he totally hates me.”
Morgan laughed, “Y/N, you’re acting silly, this isn’t high school, we aren’t seventeen, stop dancing around it and just go ask him out.”
“Morgan, he doesn’t want to go to a bookstore with me, no way he’s agreeing to a date.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down, maybe he’s just not in the mood to go?”
“You go ask him then, 20 bucks he says yes.”
“You’re on Y/N/N.”
7 minutes later Morgan returned and without a word pulled a twenty dollar bill out of his wallet and deposited it into your hand. “Sorry, Y/N.”
Penelope then piped up, “I’m telling you Y/N, he just doesn’t know. That boy is clueless.”
You scoffed, “I think he knows Penelope. I’ve made it pretty clear.”
“Have you told him?”
You were thrown off, “Um, no but-”
“Well then you haven’t made it clear enough, have you sugar?”
You almost said something, but you couldn’t really think of a good rebuttal for the argument. So instead, you downed Penelope’s half dranken frozen margarita, and headed back over to Spencer.
“Hey!” he said as you made your way back over, “I was wondering where you went, after you left Derek came over and asked to go to that bookstore with me, isn’t that extraordinary. . .”
“Do you wanna go on a date with me?” you blurted out.
“What?”
You sighed, “I’ve had a crush on you since like, forever, and I keep planning all these ways to ask you subtly but it’s just not working so I’m asking now. Do you want to go on a date with me?”
“You like me? I didn’t know that . . .”
“You’re joking.”
“No, I’m not, I thought you were just being nice. You’re nice to everyone and I didn’t want to get my hopes up.”
You smirked, “Get your hopes up? Does that mean you’re obsessed with me too Dr. Reid?”
He laughed in response, “Yeah, you could definitely say that.”
You dug through your purse and pulled out your keys, “Ok, then let’s get out of here.”
He paled, “And do what?”
“We’re going on our first date.”
He smiled, and you both got up off your bar stools and headed out the door, ignoring Morgan’s snide remarks as you passed.
{⋅. ♪ .⋅}
You couldn’t help but smile as you drove. Every couple of seconds you couldn’t help but look over at Spencer, getting lost in his brownish hazel eyes, which looked indigo in the night. He would smile, the kind of smile people write silly little romance songs about and spend verses to describe, and tell you to pay attention to the road before you run off of it. You would laugh, tell him to calm down. Although originally you had an idea of where you were going, now you just wanted to drive in circles, to bask in this memory.
“So where are we going?” he asked.
“Think about it Doctor Reid . . .” you replied, teasing him in the way you’ve imagined since you met him.
You pulled up to that little bookstore on 16th avenue, the one you couldn’t stop going to out of the sheer chance Spencer might be there, the one that was obviously closed this late at night, but was too perfect not to spend your first date at.
“Although this is beautifully symbolic, it’s almost 2 in the morning, this place closes at 8. We’re 5 hours, 49 minutes and 17 seconds late.”
You smiled and pulled out your ring of keys, “You know, when I spent hours a night hanging around here after work, hoping that you would happen to come shop for books and see me here too, the woman who owns this store got pretty curious. So I told her why I was here, and after she got done laughing at me she offered me a key, so that if I ever had the guts to ask you out, I could take you here no matter what.” You turned the key and swung the door open, gesturing him inside and locking the door behind you, “but we have to keep the lights off, so no one comes by and tries to get in.”
You and Spencer sit in the non-fiction section, and enjoy the silence for a few seconds before you have an idea, “Read me something Reid.”
He reached up, pulling a book off of the shelf without looking, “Are you sure, A Brief History of 1491: Life in America Before Columbus, is first date material?”
“Although that book is anything but brief, anything you read to me will sound stunning coming from your pretty mouth.”
So he begins to read, attempting to slow down to a reasonable pace but still going abnormally fast. You didn’t care though, more than you listened to the history of the late fifteenth century you watched Spencer’s hands. They’re really nice hands.
His right followed the words as he read aloud and his left helped hold the book. He wiggled the fingers on his left hand unconsciously as he spoke, getting into the words of the book.
After about 25 pages he glanced over at you, and you could almost hear the gears turning in his head. After a second he went back to the page, and continued reading. You didn’t think anything of it until a couple minutes later, when his hand made its way to your left thigh.
He held it and you leaned into him, and you both stayed like that until you fell asleep hours later, with his head resting on top of yours.
At 8:30 Mrs. Betts, the owner of the bookstore, found you and Spencer, arms around each other, the book thrown aside. She smiled, glad to know you had taken her up on her offer. She went to go wake you up but glanced at her watch. She didn’t have to officially open until 10.
She could definitely spare a couple of minutes.
“I want you, bless my soul I ain't gotta tell him I think he knows”
- Thank you for reading! Please reblog and let me know what you think :))

John Mulaney: From Scratch in Las Vegas, September 4
Once again, spoilers for the show and what will presumably be in the special. This is about his relapse so tread with caution is that will be an issue for you. However, the tone of his struggle is the same one he used in his past specials so if you didn’t have any issues then, I think you’d be ok with this. Of course, use your own best judgement, friends.
The opener was Seaton Smith.
He opened with trying to find the rich people in the crowd but acknowledged that they’d go mwrmwmwrw money isn’t everything so then he started talking about golf and went aha I got ya’ll.
There was a joke about weed being the only Christian drug
He had a bit about when white people are nice, be nervous
He had a bit about there being a black man on the Bachelor and was like America (ABC and Disney+) were not ready for a black man to be fucking a house full of 50 white women. That shit premiered on Tuesday and the Capitol burned on Wednesday.
He also did some crowd work and roasted a couple in the front row for having different answers about kids and she was like I didn’t hear the question and was roasted about how not hearing questions you don’t want to answer is certainly a tactic, often used by drug dealers
He also had a bit about how different child rearing is in Texas versus New York and about how hitting your kids is treated differently, like his dad would have just threatened it whimsically.
Now on to the Main Event!
The first thing he said was “hiiiiiiiiii” exactly in the tone you think he said it in. he followed that up with a little shrug looking adorable and a little bashful
“It’s him! Mr. Problems. Oh Las Vegas, Oh my god” he then talks about how Vegas is a land of vice and a Choice for him to preform in as a recovering addict. He had a sober buddy and 3 bodyguards with him at all times.
“And here’s what happened” December 18, 2020, he gets invited to a friends apartment for dinner AND HE’S TWO HOURS LATE because he stopped, coked out of his mind, at SNL for a haircut because he still had his building access badge and he went to the hair department and they were like, he’ll leave faster if we just do this, and then he stopped at his drug dealers.
He called venmo and cashapp, apps for drug deals and was like what do normal people even use them for. He maxed both out paying for drugs.
He was the best looking person at his intervention. “Coke skinny, new cut” and the 12 people intervening looked like shit. He looked “tears for fears while they all looked jerry garcia” (I hope you know who those musicians are besties).
He immediately yelled “Can I go to the bathroom” to you know, dump his drugs because when you walk into that, you know what it is.
He was not allowed to go (he would be asked if he still needed to pee later and would say “what?”
There were 6 people in NYC and 6 people over zoom in LA because he guesses 6 people couldn’t be bothered to fly in for HIS INTERVENTION
Interventions can go two ways, it can be kind of accusatory and this is how you let us all down, or it can be supportive. Everyone but Nick Kroll got the memo to be supportive.
Nick Kroll went first.
Nick Kroll listed all the ways John was a bad best friend and brother over zoom and John was getting texts during the intervention saying Nick wasn’t supposed to do that and they were all sorry.
Bill Hader went next. he originally wasn’t going to be able to make it so he had recorded a thing but since he was there, he did it live. (He would eventually send the video to John in rehab, which is not what you want on the way to rehab “awesome, more intervention”)
He tried to derail the intervention, “there’s not enough latinx representation” he said he’d go to any rehab except the one they had picked out for him. This was a star-studded affair and he was mad no one was being funny.
Natasha Lyons went next, telling him his life and career is in shambles
So he gets carted off to rehab after this intervention. Don’t let 12 comedians pack your bags for 2 months at rehab. it was bombas socks and iphone chargers.
A little secret about rehab, you’re not allowed to bring drugs in. You remember how he was late? In his pocket on the way to rehab included: a huge amount of pills, 3g of coke (which was 2g by the time he got there, courtesy of a koala station in a gas station bathroom), and $2000 in cash. He had other plans for the weekend. He was admitted for xanax, coke, perocet, and adderall addiction. Say what you will, but he does not do anything half way.
It’s 4am when he’s sent to detox, he’s been awake for 3 days.
He also gives a small lesson on how to get drugs. Find the lowest rated doctors on yelp and webmd reviews and go ask for them, they need all the business they can get. You become like Captain Phillips, I am the doctor now.
Dr. Michael was his shady doctor. He was a first avenue apartment where he would write prescriptions from his kitchenette where his girl Minerva was always asleep. “I didn’t kill my wife Minerva.” But John would ask for his drugs, Dr. Michael would write the script and then ask what he needed it for. Dr. Michael would also make John take his shirt off, always offering a flu shot and going no, shirt all the way off (in case you were wondering how bad this addiction actually was)
The first moral is now you know. The second moral is get vaccinated.
He’s sent to the regular ward the next afternoon and they finally get him to sleep.
He’s sketched out that doctors have last names at this establishment
He asks for drugs such as klonopin and is taken aback a bit when he doesn’t get them. The doctor is like PA state law says no, and so John suggests they go to a CVS in Jersey to get some.
His bestie Pete Davidson starts calling that night. Except Pete changes his number every month and a half so John has him send a selfie and saves the new number under some other random name, at this point in time, Pete is saved as Al Pacino. (We get an Al Pacino impression) John is asleep and his nurse sees Al Pacino trying to call him 5 times and so she wakes him up.
Pete Davidson and John Mulaney did not do drugs together. (The author is lowkey surprised and sad about that, like if Pete was my bestie, we’d make so many poor choices) But Pete was always very supportive of his sobriety.
John needs recognition so badly, in group when they introduced themselves he said “I’m John M.” and no one cared. So he left a tabloid out with the news of his admittance and his face on it in the rec room on the table. The not being someone was “driving him bananas.” When they talked about what they do for a living and he said I’m a a stand up comedian, someone asked if he made a living that way. He said “yeah ask your daughter” (or your son)
One of the things you do at rehab is break up with your drug dealer.
One of his drug dealers only bought drugs to keep John from buying worse off the streets and only got into the game because John kept asking him for drugs and was his only buyer. That guy was originally a painter and John has no idea how they met. John is the only person to turn an innocent man into a drug dealer.
Here he did the Baby J is back baby joke. the Park Theater is one of the biggest stages in the world so he did that joke in one pace across the stage and said the stage is that joke long.
“I am no longer on drugs. It’s very good but also ah---” He’s in a 12 step anonymous group.
“I need attention, clearly.” After a show you think he would be sated, but no.
He wants that attention that the kid who’s grandparent died and showed up to school dressed for the funeral and got to sit in the beanbag chair for reading despite it not being his turn, gets. He went on about being willing to let one of the lesser important grandparents die so he could get attention, for quite a while.
He feels left behind in science, like his C’s and D’s in those classes. All those classes were was putting things on a windowsill for the janitor to throw away. He had a bit about how the fuck people put dinosaurs back together, it’s like getting wayfair furniture without the instructions.
He also things the moon belongs to America. Like we got there first and when other countries say stuff about the moon he’s like mmmmmmm.
He also had a joke about paying to get into college and like, for white people that’s always how it’s been.
The show ended with him going over the highlights of that GQ interview that he was so coked out for that he forgot he did it entirely. He has no memory of it at all. He was just called up that day and asked for an interview and you know how coke is the best drug to receive attention on? He just did whatever he wanted with that attention.
And that was the show.
