SJM Brazilian gossip!

So here in Brazil we have this test called ENEM, which is a test that helps students to get a good grade and have a chance to start the university without paying for it. The whole year, students wait to make this test it is really important, around 180 questionz and a writting essay.

Each year, a different theme is chosen to the writting essay and students only get to know what's the theme when they have the tests on their hands. This year, the theme was realted to how could we recognize women's housework and domestic work and stop the misinformation about it (simplifying).

Keep in mind that Brazil has a high level of illiteracy, the population has serious problems with text interpretarion and the portion of people who read is still very low. So yeah...guess what?

Miss Sarah J. Maas and her Acotar world were used by many people as an exemple of feminism and how the characters, just like people in real life, can chance their lives if the government helps them.

I was so shocked SO SHOCKED when I heard that cause man...HOW?! We have lots and lots of exemples on how women who are housekeepers work like slaves, we have lots of information sources where people could check interviews with real people and study about women's situation in out country and world

BUT NO! LET'S BRING FAKE FEMINISM ACOTAR CAUSE FEYRE HAD TO HUNT AND THEN SHE BECAME A HIGH LADY SO SHE DOESN'T NEED TO DO DOMESTIC WORK ANYMORE💀

but i’ll compile some tl;dr conclusions i've seen across multiple reviews (i'm not reading the book for myself; i read books for a living, so my for fun books are a rare treat and i can't subject myself to this dumpster fire. don't quote me on any to follow because, again, i haven't read the book myself, but i've seen these points mentioned in multiple reviews, so i'm assuming there's some truth to them)

but yeah spoilers below the cut

hunt doesn't wear underwear bc his dick is too big (corroborated across many reviews, you'll find the mention in the links above)

bryce dies and is brought back (i think she dies while floating in space? after creating a black hole? and hunt rescues her while in a mech suit--ik those were mentioned in hoeab, but hell if i can remember much about them)

hunt and bryce can both wear the Mask from the acotar universe without any problems despite that being a Big Thing. also hunt can wear the Mask bc he and bryce fucked and he has some of her "Made Essence" in him? i'm not sure what that is though

some reviews mention azriel dies? others don't. one also mentioned rhysand dies but idk how true that is bc like. this is sjm we're talking about. (go figure feyre isn't called "high lady" in this but "rhysand's partner".)

hunt was made by princes of Hel to help bryce (one review mentions "three dads" so make of that what you will)

lidia (i think she was the Hind) has twin boys through some calanmai-like festival and ruhn becomes their dad. lidia is also somehow related to aelin

tharion continues to be a piece of shit but what else is new. why does he even have a POV for fuck's sake

it seems there continue to be more men with POVs than women, but again, what else is new

ruhn is bi? there's a review that mentions him having sex with a male character (how much you wanna bet this male character is nameless and/or only shows up in this one specific scene?)

the Asteri are...i guess space parasites would be the best term? multiple reviews mention a parasite transmitted to the people through the water (?? not sure how that works) but during the Drop not all the lost power becomes firstlight. instead, the Asteri eat it to become more powerful

bryce is a specialspecial who was literally created to be the Chosen One to take down the Asteri after a previous world (remind me which world the............Daglan? are from? is that tog? no it's acotar) failed to kill them. i think they were once the Daglan but are now the Asteri

the fae continue to be misogynistic for shits and giggles so bryce can have her moments of GiRl PoWeR

also bryce continues to be fucking terrible to hunt (don't get me wrong, i don't like hunt, but i wouldn't trust fucking bryce to treat a former slave with anything like respect)

oh also i think lehabah is resurrected at some point in order to resurrect bryce? (remember lehabah, the fire sprite who was freed for ages but bryce didn't tell her bc she wanted to throw her a P A R T Y to celebrate it instead of just fucking freeing her the fucking instant she fucking bought her) never mind this is from an earlier draft that was changed before the final (ig an early draft was leaked in...brazil?)

lots of graphic torture (hunt is tortured a lot, and remade a slave with the halo on his head)

oh and elriel might be canon? idk one review mentioned that it might be because evidently the cauldron could be mistaken (about what? search me, i've only read acosf in that series)

idk there's more but yeah here's a good chunk

Hello!

E/riels are cowards who hide behind fake profiles to attack.

I see people with tumblr accounts (like you) being attacked every day because of ship.

In Brazil, we have an official page (ambassador) of Acotar BR, in the last few days they suffered group attacks from some Brazilian stan because of e/riel (they organized themselves on twitter).

A garota que estava fazendo séries de vídeos sobre navios. Ele fez e/riel primeiro fazendo um briefing, e fez o mesmo para Gwynriel e PESSOAS REAIS começaram a ser atacadas virtualmente.

It's not the first time that happens. They did the same with author Elena Armas, artists who make fanarts and with friends from SJM.

I see it as desperation because they know Elucien and Gwynriel will be endgame.

Sinto muito pelos ataques que você e outros estão recebendo.

I do agree and thank you for your comments 😊 I like keeping my anons open because it's a chance for others to interact without drawing attention to their own accounts. It's a safe way for them to reach out with questions they might feel nervous to otherwise voice. But someone using anons to harass others is someone who is a bully. If they feel so confident that what they're saying is appropriate than they should own up to it. And if the person they're addressing decides to block them because it's better for their mental health to not engage then the person should have enough self respect and care enough about a real live person over a character they will never meet in their life because he doesn't exist than to create fake profiles in order to further harass them. Is being a bully to others over E/riel really worthy losing a job? Is being a bully to others over E/riel worth possible fines and jail time? Is being a bully to others over E/riel worth never having a relationship because most decent people would be disturbed over seeing someone harass others?

I don't care if people want to argue all damn day about why Elucien or E/riel are happening, debate over what's written in a book is a big part of being in the fandom. But when people are sending threats, accusing others of misogyny and being abuse apologists, picking on their age, physical appearance, levels of intelligence, etc., it's a huge issue and it's really really weird that someone can't understand that.

I want a fanfic where Nesta choose to go to human lands. Lucien, Vassa and Jurian welcome her, because like her, they dont have a place to belong but themselfs.

I think Jurian and Nesta would become besties really quick. Vassa and Nesta would gossip and have girl talk every night. She would training with Lucien, both her magic and body, and they would enjoy silence together.

Cassian invents random things to go to human lands, but actually he wants to see Nesta, and realize how better she is after leave Velaris, have real friends, are stronger and fall even more for her.

Okay! I don't know anything about this Brazilian/Argentinian rivalry. So, did my best.

Disclaimer: I have no negative feelings toward Argentinians (or Brazilians, but Nesta POV here, so... 👀). I just went with the prompt.

"Oh my gosh, stooooop! You're giving me anxiety."

"You should be anxious! Sitting out here with only SPF thirty!"

Gwyn squeezed another massive dollop of sunscreen into her hand - SPF ninety, because apparently that exists - and started rubbing it into her arm. It was the second time in an hour she decided to reapply, and they hadn't even gone in the water yet.

"You should be proud of her, Gwyn," Emerie chimed in. "SPF thirty is so high! I sprayed on a bit of fifteen and will be sitting pretty in that one coat all day."

"Well, we can't all have such beautiful, dark skin, Em," Nesta sighed. "We're not all island goddesses."

"I could be an island goddess," Gwyn argued, her voice going high, her accent stronger than ever. "Ireland's an island too, you know."

Nesta and Emerie both laughed, smiling widely at their friend. "That it is," Nesta agreed. "And you are the epitome of what I'd imagine an Irish goddess would look like."

"Hence - sunscreen!"

She moved on to her legs as Nesta fell back onto her towel. And then she popped back up again as sand splashed onto her body.

"Caralho?!" Nesta all but screamed as she popped up onto her legs and started brushing the sand off of her tanned stomach, doing everything she could to keep it from finding its way beneath the fabric of her new bikini. Which she was in love with.

It was all white with standard bottoms that hung in exactly the right spot on her hips, but the top was pure perfection. It had a thick band that went over her ribs that really helped keep everything in place, despite the deep V design. It almost pulled her boobs toward her arms a bit, so her cleavage wasn't as fully on display, but still she felt like her breasts were accentuated. Her favorite part, however, was the ruffled straps that she kept placed right where her shoulder turns into her arms, highlighted her clavicle and her thin shoulders.

"Lo siento!" someone called from behind Nesta and she turned to face him, freezing in her spot.

There was a man running toward her. Though, man may not have been the right word. He was massive. Easily a head taller than Nesta, at least; he had broad shoulders and perfectly cut muscles, though there was still a leanness to him despite likely being two to three times as wide as Nesta. His tanned skin was glistening, making him practically shine in the bright sun. He had a midnight black tattoo of whorls and markings that ran from the start of one forearm, up and across his definitely hard chest, and down to the same spot on the other. And as he ran his loose hair, dark and falling near-straight to just above his shoulders, blew behind him so perfectly Nesta wondered if she was actually watching a movie.

Yet, as he reached her, and that devastatingly handsome and rugged face took her in completely, she felt her anger rise again.

"Is this your football?!" she spat in Portuguese, pointing at the ball.

He looked confused for a moment before responding, "Si, es mio."

"Portuguêse ou Inglês." It wasn't a question. It was a demand. They were in Brazil, for crying out loud.

"Inglés. Sorry, I don't speak Portuguese," the man said in an accent Nesta recognized as Argentinian.

"Good thing you decided to travel to Brasil, then," she scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You can take your football now."

But he didn't move. He just let his eyes roll over her body again, a smirk spreading across his lips. Nesta glared at him, refusing to look beyond his face, and crossed her arms in front of her chest. It didn't help.

Especially not as their eyes met, and she got lost in the pools of brown and green, flecks of gold floating around in them. And for a moment she was glad for the cat-eye sunglasses she wore, terrified what might happen without their polarized shield.

"I'm Cassian," he offered and Nesta wanted to rip that smile right off his face. With her mouth. And tongue. And-

No!

He was just a dumb tourist. Probably here for the football game. Apparently Rio de Janeiro didn't have enough tourists. So, after the World Cup - when Argentina and Brazil both got out during the quarter-finals - their president decided to invite the Argentinian team to play Brazil in a 'friendly match'. The two teams didn't play each other during the final tournament at all, so he also claimed that both countries were owed the chance to try and demolish the other.

"That's nice for you," she sighed, attempting to sound bored and purposefully looking over his shoulder to keep from being distracted by his piercing hazel eyes. She couldn't help but notice two men standing where he had originally been, watching them, both looking so much like him from this distance. Except with shorter hair.

"Ugh, Nesta, just give him his ball back," Emerie groaned. She and Gwyn both had eyes glued on Nesta and this man - Cassian.

Nesta grinded her teeth to keep herself from chuckling at the comment, knowing Emerie well enough to know what she really meant. "I already told him he can take it," she argued, but still she bent over and picked up the football. She didn't miss how Cassian's eyes snapped back to her face from somewhere lower when she faced him again. She had a feeling she knew what that somewhere was.

"You really need to learn how to handle this thing," Nesta scolded.

He took a step forward, now less than a foot away from her, and Nesta needed to angle her head further upward to meet his eyes. "What would a little rich girl from Brasil know about handling a football, Nesta?"

Nesta's eyes narrowed at the insult, even as her breath hitched at hearing her name on his lips. But fine, if that's how he wanted to play it.

She shoved past him and slammed the ball down on the sand, eyeing the two men who were clearly with him, both looking over at them and laughing. She didn't know at what, but it irked her. Taking a few steps back, she then ran and kicked with perfect efficiency, the ball hitting the lighter-skinned one right in the gut before he could realize what was happening.

Smirking, Nesta pivoted and walked back toward her friends, shooting one last dig as she passed him.

"A lot more than a dumb Argentinian."

The ACOTAR covers

I usually buy the books on their original language, once a lot a things may get lost in translation (like the dam joke), but the brazilian covers for the ACOTAR series are so beautiful! And aesthetic! I'm in love. I wish I could have the books in english with this covers (there're no book jackets).
