thinking about wayne and eddie going on an annual fishing trip (like thee Munson Men Annual Fishing Trip™️) just like a little weekend away. and the first one is coming up after eddie and steve starts dating. over breakfast eddie jokingly complains about having to go and tries to get out of it. but wayne is used to his dramatics so he just gives hmms when appropriate because eddie’s whole spiel never got him out of it before and he tells eddie that.

steve watches the whole exchange with amusement when wayne asks if he’s looking forward to it. and he’s like ??? because he assumed it was just a wayne and eddie thing. and wayne is like i just told eddie all munsons must go can’t get out of it kid.

steve gets flustered and is internally is like oh??? all munsons,,,

or like after the trip a neighbor asks wayne if they caught anything and he pulls out his wallet to show a picture they took on the trip. wayne passes it with ‘here’s a picture of my boys’ and to steve’s surprise it’s a picture of both him and eddie with their biggest catch.

and just idk wayne casually accepting steve into their family and throwing steve off guard with it.

new game is to type one through ten in your tags and see what comes up. i think my favorite of mine is ‘my uncle told us he spent seven and a half hours in a sensory deprivation tank once’ but ‘gideon the ninth motherfucker’ is a close second

the truly hilarious thing about house and wilson is that they are both so closeted nothing could possibly happen. that being said house is so dtf at any given moment like every joke he makes has a little pause to judge the atmosphere. the man is constantly testing the homosexual waters and if they ever started to flow in his direction 40+ years of paranoid miserable sexual repression is going out the window because the trigger finger on his faggot gun has been twitching waiting to consummate his twisted pseudo marriage with wilson for almost twenty years

On my 100th reread of tgcf (I'm halfway through the first book) I am only now realising how much of a romantic Xie Lian is.

I thought the only line that indicated his nature was during the seaside "what matters is you, not the state of you" conversation where Xie Lian said "there were very difficult times in my life where I imagined if someone could see me like that and still love me. I still don't know if there would be anyone like that". But this is way later in the 3rd book and before that I hadn't imagined Xie Lian wanting someone to love him.

But I am now realising its outright clear from the beginning. In the first quest, Xie Lian enters the tea shop and looks out the window, noticing how beautiful the scenery was and his first thought was "this would be such a nice place for lovers' chance encounters" and immediately after that he has in own meet-cute with the butterfly.

Later, as he is led out of the bridal sedan by Hua Cheng, he is constantly thinking how great a husband Hua Cheng would be, "considerate, patient, loving" etc etc. Xie Lian enjoyed playing the bride then. He was thinking "oh it would be so nice if this were real, and this man was my husband". You cannot tell me that Hua Cheng was the only one swooning at the hand holding.

I see so many posts and edits of Hua Cheng being whipped from the start, but honestly Xie Lian was falling in love right from Mount Yujun. He knows nothing of the man but from one romantic encounter he remembers the boot bells so fondly and decides "he was soft with me. I like him". I know it's mxtx's doing and all but there is still something to be said when the story is narrated entirely in Xie Lian's head that every interaction XL has with San Lang that onwards is painted so romantically. Xie Lian is a romantic, it didn't take him long to fall hard and love Hua Cheng on purpose.
