I started The Imperfects only for the action and sci-fi, honestly expecting half decent story and special effects. But boy was I wrong and am I happy about it. Because Instead I got

Well-written, casual asexual representation (one of the main characters is an ace girl whose power is to seduce people and that's just amazing)

Kind of a werewolf but better, cause it's a Mexican guy who turns into a fucking chupacabras

Impressively good special effects, considering most show have low budget and consequentially bad effects on their first season

Amazing soundtrack! They even played Of Monsters And Men which is my favorite band

Well-written young adult characters! Can you believe that?

Two of the main characters were artists for a living (a singer and a comic book artist) and they weren't starving, they were actually doing pretty great!

A good balance of drama, comedy and action. Also a little bit of romance without making the entire show about it!

TLDR: go watch The Imperfects on Netflix, it's great!

Fuck it, here's 5 reasons to watch The Imperfects on netflix other than Abbi being ace (not because that's a bad reason, but because a show having representation doesn't mean it actually has a good plot):

Juan Ruiz writes comic books for a living, that he illegally prints through his university library

Tilda Weber is kind of a bitch, but she also genuinely cares, and she shows it in surprising ways

The villain is so unlike your typical mad scientist, but also addresses why scientists need humanities courses (Introduction to Modern Poetry, funniest character detail I can think of)

Abbi Singh's battle cry being "GUINEA PIGS BITE BACK!!!", absolutely iconic

Monster fucker rights, alongside plot of accepting even the most fucked up parts of yourself, and defining what it means to be human
