No Nut November (Buddie Fanfic)
((Based on this prompt by @blurredbuddie))
Tumblr media
Buck blamed Albert. It was his fault that he was currently sleeping on the couch rather than his very comfortable bed snuggling up to his very cuddly boyfriend. You see, Albert was going through a nasty breakup and had sworn off sex. Except that wasn’t enough for him. No. The 25-year-old had to rope Buck into his awful plan. It was November and Albert had come across “No Nut November” while browsing Reddit. His curiosity got the best of him and he decided to engage in the ridiculous challenge. He then turned it into a bet with Buck, whose only brain cell wasn’t working at the time and it only heard the part where Albert said, “I will wash your Jeep for a year,” and immediately agreed to the bet. He doesn’t even remember what Albert would get if he won!
But anyway, back to Buck’s current predicament. How did he end up on the couch? Well, he told his boyfriend about the bet, which went about as well as you would expect.
“You what?” Eddie asked after he tried to take their make-out session further and go down on Buck.
“I am abstaining from sex this month,” Buck simply told him with a shrug.
Eddie, who was currently on his knees next to Buck’s junk, narrowed his eyes at him. “And why would you do that?”
Buck dragged the comforter over his legs and slinked back into the bed. “Because I may have made a bet with Albert that I can last through No Nut November longer than him.”
“Not nut what?” Eddie asked, sitting back on his hunches. Buck knew he was trying to suppress his frustration and anger.
“No Nut November. It’s a challenge people engage in during the month of November where they abstain from coming for the entire month,” Buck explained.
“And you two dumbasses couldn’t have participated in Movember for a good cause?” Eddie asked, letting his anger slowly show. “At least that would have been sexy.”
“But-”
“OR you could have even participated in that writing challenge Chris is doing this year!’ Eddie finally blew off his top.
“But then I couldn’t have made a bet with Albert and potentially won a year’s worth of free cleaning for my Jeep.”
“What?!” Eddie practically yelled. “You decided to deprive me of my nine-inch goodness for a whole ass month so that you would get a year’s worth of free car washes?”
“Do you know how expensive car washes are in L.A.?” Buck asked.
“And what does Albert get if he wins?”
Buck blinked at Eddie before shrugging one shoulder. “I don’t remember.”
“You don’t remember?” Eddie repeated after him.
“I don’t remember,” Buck confirmed.
“Get out,” Eddie said bluntly.
Buck balked at him. “What? This is my room,”
“I don’t care,” Eddie replied. “Get out.”
And that’s how Buck ended up on the couch of his own apartment.
Buck thought Eddie would still be mad at him the nextmorning, but then he woke up to the smell of breakfast and coffee. Confused, he went to the kitchen and found Eddie there making pancakes.
“Good morning, babe,” Eddie said without even looking up from the pancakes.
“Morning?” Buck replied, confused.
“Have a seat,” Eddie told him. “Breakfast is just about ready.”
“Eddie, you’re not mad at me anymore?” Buck asked, surprised, as he took a seat at the table.
Eddie brought the breakfast over and then the cups of coffee. Buck couldn’t help but notice he was walking funny. Putting a little too much emphasis on his swaying his hips. And then instead of taking the chair beside Buck, Eddie sat down on his lap and wrapped his arms around Buck’s neck.
“Uh…Eddie?” Buck instinctively wrapped his arms around Eddie’swaist, but he was confused nonetheless. “Why are you sitting on my lap?”
“Can’t a man sit on his boyfriend’s lap when he feels like it?” Eddie asked. His voice was low, but innocent. His actions, however, were anything but innocent. He was currently rubbing his ass against Buck’s clothed dick.
Buck was usually oblivious, but this time, he understood Eddie’s plan fairly quickly. “Eddie,” Buck warned him. “I know what you’re doing.”
“What am I doing?” Eddie looked at him with those big brown eyes of his that would have Buck committing murder.
“You’re trying to get me to lose my bet with Albert.”
A moan escaped Eddie’s lips as he probably felt Buck getting hard in his boxers. “Buck…” His voice was breathless, like Buck was fucking him already.
Buck lost himself in the sounds Eddie was making. His grip tightened on Eddie’s waist and he couldn’t help but thrust his hips against Eddie’s ass. But then he realized what he was doing, and he stood up abruptly, causing Eddie to fall to the floor.
“Buck!” Eddie yelled.
“Sorry, baby, I promise I’ll make it up to you.” With that, he made a run towards the door, grabbing his keys and shoes along the way. When he was safely in his Jeep, Buck realized he had nowhere to go. He had just made a run from his own apartment. But then he remembered he had a gym bag in the back, and thanked whatever god was out there for his laziness.
Buck made his way to the station, where he could shower and get changed into his dirty uniform. He didn’t have his phone on him, which meant he couldn’t even text Eddie and grovel for forgiveness.
When he reached the station, all eyes were on him. Someone even wolf-whistled, as he did a walk of shame through the station, without having actually had sex the previous night.
Bobby was the first one to approach him with a confused look plastered on his face. “Uh, Buck? Why are you parading through my firehouse in your t-shirt and boxers?”
“Long story. You don’t wanna know,” Buck replied tiredly, and hung his head.
“You dropped Eddie on his ass and made a run out of your own apartment?!” Hen’s voice rang through the station.
Buck’s eyes widened, and he immediately shushed her. “Are you trying to embarrass me in front of the entire station?”
“That ship has sailed already.” Hen eyed him from top to bottom and raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean he dropped Eddie on his- his-”
“It’s okay, Cap, you can say ass.” Hen sympathetically put a hand on Bobby’s shoulder, gaining herself a glare from him. She removed her hand immediately and put it up in surrender. “I don’t know the whole story, but I just got a call from a very pissed-off Eddie telling me that Buck ran out on him.
“Exactly how pissed off was he?” Buck cringed at the thought.
“I said very, didn’t I?” Hen replied. “But I would be too if Karen ran out on me after dropping me on my ass.” With that, she broke out into laughter. “I can only imagine what that scene must have been like.”
“Yes, yes, laugh it up at my misery.” Buck huffed. “I’m gonna go take a shower. And do we have any cereal? I am starving.”
“We have bread, and I can make you some eggs,” Bobby told him.
“He really is your favorite!” Hen accused him. “You never offer to make us eggs when we come to the station hungry.”
“Well, I’m in emotional distress right now,” Buck informed her. “And thanks, Bobby, that will be great.”
“Your boyfriend is the one in emotional distress,” Hen pointed out. “You are in deep shit.”
Buck didn’t need to be reminded of that. He waved her off and hit the showers instead.
Buck was digging into his breakfast when a loud “EVAN BUCKLEY!” reverberated through the station. Oh shit.
Footsteps headed up the stairs, and Buck almost felt his heart leap out of his throat. He abruptly stood up from the chair and put his hands up. “Look, I can explain.”
“Explain how you dropped me on my ass in the middle of your kitchen and then ran out like a coward?”
“Yeahhh… It doesn’t sound so good when you put it like that.” Buck cringed. “I didn’t hurt you, did I?” He asked with genuine concern in his voice.
“You hurt my pride!” Eddie said dramatically.
“I’m sorry, you were just rubbing yourself on me and I need to abstain and I could-” Buck stopped talking when he realized they were getting an audience. “Hey, folks.” He waved awkwardly. “Maybe give us some privacy?”
“Maybe you should stop talking so loudly where all of us can hear you,” Chimney told them. “And what do you mean you’re trying to abstain? Albert is trying to abstain too. Doing some kinda ridiculous challenge.” Chimney paused and then gave Buck a “Are you serious?” look. “You’re doing the challenge too, aren’t you?”
Eddie crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at Buck. “You wanna tell them or should I?”
“I mean, we really don’t have to tell them,” Buck pointed out.
“Evan here made a bet with Albert about who will last longer without sex during the month of November,” Eddie told them.
There was silence, and then soon laughter rang through the station.
“Are you serious?” Ravi asked. “Is it even possible for you and Albert to go without sex for a day?”
“Hey, I’ve lasted a day so far,” Buck informed him, feeling a little offended.
“Even dumb and dumber would come up with a better plan.” This time, it was Chimney’s turn to tease him.
“How would you even know if Albert’s had sex or how would he know if you have?” Hen was asking the important questions and, truth be told, Buck hadn’t thought of that.
“I guess we’ll just have to believe each other,” Buck replied.
“There’s no honor among thieves,” Hen countered.
“I think it’s a good challenge,” Bobby finally provided his two cents, earning him amused looks from Hen, Chimney, and Ravi, and a glare from Eddie. “I am just saying. It’s probably healthy for both of you.”
“Thank you, Bobby!” Buck said appreciatively. “At least someone gets me.”
“What did you bet on, anyway?” Bobby continued to ask.
Eddie gave Buck an unamused look, who gulped before saying, “If I win, Albert washes my car for a year.”
“Boooooooo!” Hen, Ravi, and Chimney yelled at him and soon he was hit with plastic fruits from the table, as Buck tried to protect himself.
“You couldn’t bet on anything better?” Hen asked.
“Like a new Jeep itself,” Ravi suggested.
“We’re firefighters, not tech moguls,” Buck replied.
Everyone just rolled their eyes at him and walked away.
Once they all disappeared, Eddie came closer to Buck. “So there is no way I can convince you to fuck me?” He asked.
“Right now? I think we’ll both get fired if I do that, baby.” Buck leaned in to kiss him but Eddie turned his head away and the kiss landed on his cheek.
“Hmmm, if you’re not gonna fuck me, then you’re not getting kisses either.”
Buck hated it when Eddie used that sassy voice with him. But it also turned him on. He was not going to last the next 28 days.
Okay, so he lasted 28 days, but he wasn’t so sure when he had 25 days left. Eddie wasn’t letting up. Nope, he was even more determined to make Buck lose the bet. So on November 5, he brought out the big guns.
They were getting ready to go to bed. Eddie was already under the covers when Buck finished his nighttime ritual and came to bed. He wasn’t wearing any t-shirt like he usually wasn’t. It did things to Buck seeing him shirtless, but he controlled himself and got under the covers. Buck leaned over to kiss Eddie, who eagerly returned his kiss before lying down. They got into their usual position, with Eddie facing the window and Buck behind him with his back to the wall. But when Buck’s arm wrapped around Eddie’s waist, his hand brushed against something. Something that definitely didn’t feel like boxers. They were rough and lacey to the touch and Eddie’s hard dick was pressing against it.
“Eddie?” Buck almost choked. “Are you wearing panties?”
“Yes,” Eddie replied like he did this type of thing every day. Like Buck hadn’t begged him to wear the panties for months after he bought them for him. Like he hadn’t shoved them in the back of his dresser, telling Buck that he would never wear them in a million years.
“Why?” Buck couldn’t move his hand. It’s like it was glued to the spot on top of Eddie’s lacey panties.
“Because I felt like it,” Eddie turned around in Buck’s arms and leaned in close to his ear as he added, “...daddy.”
Buck let out a choked sound that he didn’t even realize came out of his own mouth. “What?”
“Daddy,” Eddie innocently said it again.
“Fuck,” Buck groaned and pushed Eddie against the bed and climbed on top of him, as he kissed him, pinning him to the mattress.
Eddie wrapped his legs around Buck and let out a moan into his mouth. Eddie moved his hips against Buck’s as Buck thrust against him. After breaking away from the kiss, Eddie wrapped his arms around Buck’s neck and buried his face in the crook of his neck, “Daddy,” he hoarsely whispered again.
Suddenly, the conversation with Albert rang in his ears, and Buck stopped moving. His hard on started to subside. Because having Albert’s voice ringing in his ears as he was trying to get on with his boyfriend wasn’t exactly an aphrodisiac. Eddie whined under him, and Buck’s attention shifted to him.
Buck pulled away from Eddie and looked down at him. Eddie stared back at him with swollen lips and blown eyes. Shit. Buck was getting hard again.
“I have to go.” Buck scrambled out of bed.
Eddie sat up and looked at him confused. “What?”
“I’m gonna go sleep on the couch,” Buck told him and ran out.
“Buck!” Eddie called out after him, but he didn’t stop as he shut the door, careful not to slam it and wake up Chris.
He half expected Eddie to come after him and demand answers, but he didn’t. It took awhile, but Buck fell asleep on the cold leather couch, freezing his ass off, because he was too scared to go back to the room and get a blanket.
Early the next morning, Buck woke up to find he wasn’t as cold anymore and realized that there was a comforter thrown over him. He smiled and took in Eddie’s smell that still lingered on the comforter, and fell back asleep.
They had 15 days to go in the bet, and Buck was dying and Buck knew so was Eddie. The man was desperately trying to seduce him in every way possible. But Buck was holding out strong.
Albert was visiting today, and he looked as miserable as Buck felt. “Can we call it a truce and end the bet?”
“Oh, hell no,” Buck told him. “I’ve put my relationship on the line for this! I’m seeing it to the end.”
“YOU!” Eddie’s voice rang through the loft as he stormed over to Albert with an accusatory finger pointed in his direction. “I am not a violent man, but you make me want to commit violent acts!”
Buck pulled Eddie back before he could attack Albert. “Babe, you were once part of an illegal fight club. You’re hardly non-violent,” Buck said in his ear, acutely aware that he wasn’t helping the situation.
“Hey, whoa, I just asked Buck to call it a truce and end this thing.” Albert moved back and put up his hands in front of him. “He’s the one who refuses to give up.”
Eddie turned to glare at Buck. “Is that true?”
Buck gave him a sheepish look in return. “I mean, I’ve come so far, baby. I wanna see this thing through.”
“Well, you can sleep on the couch for the rest of you life then,” Eddie huffed and walked away.
“I hate you so much,” Buck told Albert.
The very next day, Eddie took his seduction game up a notch. It was a Thursday, and it was a rare day off for both of them. Buck had spent the night at the Diaz house like he usually did, and he was looking forward to spending some quality time with his boyfriend while Chris was at school. He already knew Eddie was going to pull something, but nothing prepared him for what he actually did.
Buck was in the shower after breakfast and when he came out, he found Eddie suspiciously missing from the house. “Eddie?” Buck called out as he looked for his boyfriend. The front door was slightly open, and Buck became alert. He opened the door and went outside and stopped dead in his tracks on the front porch.
“What the-” His mouth fell open as he watched his boyfriend. His boyfriend, who was currently dressed in low-cut booty shorts that accentuated his gorgeous ass, and a crop top that showed off his delicious abs. If that wasn’t enough, he was currently washing Buck’s jeep. The shirt and booty shorts clung to his skin and the shape of his dick was visible through the shorts, so were his perky nipples through the wet shirt.
When Eddie saw Buck, he wrung the sponge all over him, spilling suds down his chest and inside his shirt.
Buck just stood there with his mouth agape and his dick hard in his sweatpants. Eddie’s display was getting the attention of the neighbors who were currently home: retired folks and stay-at-home parents.
“What are you doing?” Buck asked, going over to him. “It’s cold out here. You’re gonna freeze your nuts off.”
“Well, you wanted someone to wash your Jeep, so I am doing you a service,” Eddie told him.
“In clothes you borrowed from a high school cheerleader?” Buck asked.
Eddie smirked and trailed his index finger down Buck’s chest. “What? You don’t like the outfit?”
“Oh no, I love it.” Buck let out a low growl and dug his fingernails into Eddie’s waist. “I just don’t like others watching you.”
“Jealous of 80-year-olds?” Eddie chuckled.
“80-year-olds have eyes too and they sure like to stare,” Buck told him. He put his hands under Eddie’s ass and lifted him, throwing him over his shoulder before carrying him back into the house. “No one gets to see you like this but me.”
Buck carried him to the bedroom and threw him down on the bed before climbing on top of him after taking off his t-shirt and sweatpants. Eddie stared at his naked body and licked his lips. Buck captured Eddie’s lips in a kiss as his hand slipped into Eddie’s shorts, making Eddie gasp. “What about the bet?” He asked.
“Screw the bet,” Buck replied and kissed him again.
And if Albert had called him the previous night to tell him he had given into his desires and picked up a woman at the bar and taken her home, then Eddie didn’t need to know that. He just needed to know that he had successfully made Buck lose his bet.

The first time it happens Bucky had laughed it off. He had probably personally invited it even. The huge media circus that was Captain America's wedding. So many people. So many important people. Something was bound to go wrong. So when Sharon gave him an apologetic smile before he even had the chance to sit down for breakfast, he knew exactly what was going to happen.
"Suspicious person spotted on the roof" she had said. The pain clear in her eyes. But the venue was compromised. And with their guest list no one wanted to take the risk.
By the second time they didn't even get to the venue. Only making it to the car for a roadtrip from DC to Delacroix with Torres and Belova (Sam's idea) when Torres got the call.
"Sin's been spotted near a crucial powerplant" that's all Bucky had to hear to know she was up to no good. But in all honesty. He didn't mind skipping the roadtrip.
By the third time Bucky started believing it might be an actual curse. Making a mental note to check in with Dr. Strange next time he'd be in New York. Though it was probably his own fault for kissing Sam goodnight with a cheeky "Third time's the charm" and very specific instructions to not come see Sam before the ceremony.
So when he finally had coaxed Sarah into even letting him go near Sam's room, with ample warning before hand, he gave a soft knock.
"Sweetheart, I know you said no peeking. But does it count if I'm in my uniform and not ny tux?" Bucky asked through the closed door
"We gotta go beat up some bad guys hmm? Saw it on the news" Sam replied. Bucky could hear his weight shifting behind the door, it opening slowly as Bucky closed his eyes obediently.
"It's what I get for marrying People's sexiest man alive, hottest groom of 2032 and GQ's man of the year, third year in a row. Everybody wants a piece of you" Bucky said, letting out a breath he didnt know he was holding as Sam chuckled softly, about to retort when he felt Sam's lips press against his own.
"You better not be peeking" Sam said as he pulled back, Bucky could hear him hold back a sigh. So he gently pressed their foreheads together.
"You think it was this hard for Steve?" He asked.
"I don't know" Bucky admitted. "I guess not, but then the world thought he was a popsicle. And I'm not quite ready for something that extreme. Besides, I'll gladly fight for your honour of actually getting to marry you. We'll make them regret it"
Sam laughed, Bucky melting as he felt Sam's breath against his skin. "Torres will be here with your uniform soon. You get ready, I'll tell the guests" Bucky said, pulling back reluctantly. But not before Sam could steal another quick kiss. "No peeking" he has repeated as Bucky pulled back. Giving a salute before he turned around as he heard Torres approaching.
By the fourth time Bucky found himself clumsily adjusting his speech. Leaving out a few of the colourful nicknames he and Sam had for each other. Quite sure Sam would never let him live down calling him 'his favourite asshole' in front of Riley.
By the time most guests had left and Riley was asleep in Sam's arms from way too much excitement Sam turned to Bucky.
"You were gonna call me asshole, weren't you" he said
"Favourite asshole. And in my defense, i wrote this speech a year ago" Bucky replied, holding his hands up in surrender.
"How were you planning on explaining that when she grows up?" Sam said, shaking his head.
Bucky pondered for a moment. "Well, I was gonna start with that full body slam. Also that time you didn't move your seat up. That time you made me sleep on Sarah's couch instead of your bed. Should I go on?"
Sam rolled his eyes. "Remind me why I even married you?"
"Beats me, Sweetheart, last time I checked you hated me" Bucky replied with a smirk, leaning in and sealing their lips together.
"Yeah I hate you Mr. Wilson" Sam replied.
And as Riley lay curled up in his arms Bucky realised that someone, somewhere had probably been looking out for him. That curse might've been a blessing after all.

Baby Riley
((Imagine Bucky carrying little Riley around like Peter B. Parker did with his daughter))
Tumblr media
Bucky loved bringing 4-month-old Riley to the Avengers campus and letting everyone play with her. He strapped her to his chest in a baby carrier, slung her baby bag on one side, and headed to the campus where Sam hung out with his Avenger buddies. "I don't hang out with them, Bucky. I work with them," Sam claimed but Bucky didn't care. They were his friends, so they hung out together.
When Bucky arrived today, the Avengers were in the meeting room. From what J.A.N.I.C.E, the A.I. told Bucky, they were currently having a debriefing session with Sam leading it. Bucky snuck into the room to watch Sam speak. Riley was fast asleep against his chest and he sat down beside Scott and Hope. Their faces lit up when they saw them. "Riley, hey," Scott immediately said in a hushed voice.
"She is growing up so fast," Hope said gently stroking her back.
"You just saw her last week," Bucky pointed out.
"Yeah and she has grown since then," Hope huffed but then smiled at Riley.
They were suddenly garnering more attention from others on the team.
"Rileyyyyy...." Kate said excitedly as she came running over to them and sat down on the floor in front of Bucky. "Look at her little feeties, oh my god," she added pointing at Riley's feet that were hanging out of the carrier.
"Is she asleep?" Torres asked sadly. The kid had self-appointed himself Uncle Torres to Riley.
"Yeah, she-" As soon as Bucky was about to finish his sentence a sharp cry rang through the room.
The whole room broke out into a myriad of noises as everyone tried telling him what to do. All at once. Overwhelming Bucky and making him put a protective arm around his daughter.
"QUIET!" Sam's voice boomed through the room.
Everyone obliged and shut up at once, much to Bucky's relief.
Sam made his way over to the back of the room, walking with purpose, and his lips pressed together in a thin line. He looked like a man on a mission dressed in his Captain America suit.
"Oh shit," Scott whispered beside him. "Good luck, Barnes."
"Shut up," Hope chastised him.
Bucky readied himself to get yelled at. Sam has told him in the past not to bring Riley to the meetings. Riley, on her part, was still crying, and Bucky gently rocked her to quiet her down.
Sam came to a stop in front of him and Bucky looked up at him. Sam let out a soft sigh and stuck out his arms. "Give her to me," he said.
Taken aback by that, Bucky just stared at him.
"Buck," Sam's voice broke him out of his thoughts. He immediately took Riley out of the carrier and carefully handed her to Sam.
Sam took the 4-month-old in the crook of his elbow. "Shhh.... It's okay, baby girl," he gently said to her. "Papa's got you."
Bucky's heart melted as he saw the two interact. Yeah, he sees it every day at home but he still hasn't got used to it.
Sam then started to hum to her. It sounded an awful lot like "Stand By Me." He gently rocked her as he moved around humming and then softly singing to her.
There were a few "aww's" from the Avengers but soon Riley's cries subsided and the room filled with her laughter.
Everyone broke out into cheers before Sam turned around and proudly smiled at them.
Bucky got up from the bench and went over to his husband kissing him gently. "My hero," he said before clicking his tongue. "Nope, our hero," he said hugging his family close.

Samtember Day 02: First Flight | Riley
727 words | Rated G | for @samsseptember
((I decided to go with Riley for this prompt))
Tumblr media
Dressed in his black suit with a white shirt and black tie, Sam stood in front of the mirror and straightened the creases that weren’t there. Arms wrapped around his middle, and Sam smiled in the mirror.
“You look perfect,” Riley whispered in his ear.
Sam frowned and tried getting rid of the non-existent creases again. “Do I? I think I could do better.”
“Glad you never said that about me.” Riley laughed and turned Sam around in his arms. “Let me take a look at you, though.”
“Should I change the suit?” Sam asked. “I think I should change the suit.”
“You’ll be late if you change the suit, baby,” Riley told him. He picked up the sling from the bed and gave it to Sam. “You need help with that?”
“Nah, I got it,” Sam replied and struggled a little, but he managed to get the sling on.
“So…. You wanna tell me why it’s so important for you to look good, sweetheart?” Riley asked. The southern twang was strong in his voice. He sat down on the bed and leaned back against it on his elbows. “It’s just a funeral.”
“I know, but I want to look good,” Sam replied and tried getting rid of the creases again. “And why aren’t you ready? We have to leave in 10 minutes.”
“You know how I feel about funerals,” Riley told him.
“He was important to us, Riley. I’m not going on my own. You’re coming with me,” Sam told him and left no room for arguments.
“So bossy..” Riley smirked and got up from the bed, wrapped his arms around Sam again, and kissed him. “I love it,” he said. “But I’m still not wearing a suit.”
“So you’re gonna go there wearing ripped jeans, and a faded shirt with some dude named Luke Bryan?”
“Some dude?” Riley gasped. “I really need to educate you on country music.”
“No, thank you.” Sam rolled his eyes and captured Riley’s lips in another kiss. “Okay, you can wear your stupid shirt. Now let’s go.” He took Riley’s hand with his free hand and led him out to the car. When they got there, Sam realized they were late, and sat in the back. The entire time, Sam held Riley’s hand. The family of their dead friend had asked Sam if he could say a speech, but having just returned from the war and having witnessed the death of their friend, Sam couldn’t bring himself to say a eulogy.
Once the service finished, everyone went out to the cemetery, but Sam lingered in the funeral home for a few minutes.
“You good?” Riley asked.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m good.” Sam took Riley’s hand again, and the two went out to the burial site. Sam stayed behind the whole time and leaned against Riley. He tried hard not to let himself cry as they delivered more speeches. With the coffin finally lowered into the ground, Sam took some soil, and threw it on top of the coffin. A few people touched his shoulder and talked to him while Riley stayed off in the distance, just smiling at him.
“You’re a natural at charming old women,” Riley said, walking over to him. There was a smirk on his lips that told Sam he was up to something.
Sam shook his head and took Riley’s hand again. “Come on, let’s go. Everyone is leaving,” he told his boyfriend and tried dragging him away, but Riley wouldn’t move. “What?” Sam asked, turning to him.
“This is my home now, Sam,” Riley told him with a sad look on his face. “No.” Sam shook his head.
“It’s the end of the road for us, sweetheart,” Riley replied.
Sam shook his head again as tears finally fell from his eyes. “No, no, no, you promised you would stay with me.”
“And I will.” Riley got close to Sam and touched his face before moving his hand down to his heart. “In here.” He leaned in and kissed Sam one more time. One last time. “Well, what do you know? There WAS one crease on your suit.” Riley said, brushing it away.
When Sam finally opened his eyes, Riley was gone.. Sam collapsed in front of the grave and finally let out a loud cry. Riley Smith, the temporary cross in front of the grave, read.

VERY random mpreg prompt, feel free to use or lose—A running joke bt Buck and Eddie is that Buck will often teasingly ask Eddie if he’s turning into a pumpkin when they’re out at night, since he’s usually the first one ready to leave. However, when Eddie’s pregnant, he doesn’t immediately take the joke in the intended spirit 🎃
((I really had fun with this prompt, anon. Thank you!))
It's The Great Pumpkin, Eddie Diaz
Buck’s omega was a practical and punctual man. He was the one who set the pace in their relationship, and he was also the first one ready to head out on their date nights. He liked to make sure that they were home before 11 PM so that they could get a good night’s sleep and be up for their shift on time the next morning. “Oh baby,” Buck said one day when he found Eddie impatiently tapping his foot by the door while checking his watch multiple times. “You’re like our own personal Cinderella. I swear one of these days you’ll turn into a pumpkin if we’re out past our bedtime.”
Eddie just looked at him and rolled his eyes, but an amused chuckle escaped his lips‌. “You’re a real comedian, Mr. Buckley-Diaz,” he said, putting on his jacket. “Now, come on, let’s go.”
This became a running joke between them, where Buck would always tease Eddie about “turning into a pumpkin”. That was until the omega got pregnant. Yeah, probably not the best move calling your very pregnant husband a pumpkin. Especially not when he was overly sensitive about his appearance these days. But Buck's mouth usually ran ahead of his brain and that’s how he ended up here, sitting outside the closed bedroom door while Eddie wouldn’t stop crying inside.
It all started as they were heading out to dinner for their 3rd anniversary. Eddie was getting impatient, as usual.
“Buck, come on, we’re gonna be late. Do you know how hard it was to get a reservation at this place?” Eddie called out just as Buck left the room, putting on his watch.
“We still have 30 minutes, Eds, and the restaurant is only 10 minutes away.”
“But traffic-”
“Traffic isn’t as bad at this time, baby,” Buck said distractedly. “Don’t worry, you’re not gonna turn into a pumpkin if we’re late this one time.”
Buck paused, and a chill passed over him as he realized what he just said. Abandoning his watch, he looked up at Eddie, who had a blank look plastered over his face. That didn’t last long and soon there were tears in his eyes.
“Eddie-” Buck started to say  and to went over to him.
“You think I look like a pumpkin, don’t you?” Eddie asked as tears started running down his cheeks.
“No, baby, no, I don’t think you look like a pumpkin.” Buck put up his hands and tried to touch Eddie, who stepped back.
“No, you do!” Eddie cried out.
“It was just a silly joke,” Buck told him. “I always say it when we’re leaving and you make me hurry.”
“Oh, so I am sensitive now? Is that what you’re saying?” Eddie’s voice sounded accusatory now. That was never good.
“I mean, yeah, you’re a little sensitive these days.” And there it was. Buck’s mouth running ahead of his brain. Again. “I mean- no- you’re not sensitive-”
But the damage was done. Eddie was crying even harder now. He wiped the tears from his eyes and ran away to their bedroom before Buck could stop him. He slammed the door shut and locked it.
“Shit!” Buck hissed under his breath and rushed after him. “Eddie, come on, open the door. I didn’t mean any of what I said.”
“Go away, Evan, I don’t want to talk to you right now!” Eddie yelled from the other side. “Or ever!”
“Eddie, please, open the door.” Buck tried jiggling the doorknob but got nothing. He could break it down, but he didn’t know where Eddie was in the room. He could get hurt.
“I told you to go away!” Eddie yelled again and this time he threw something which landed against the door with a loud thud.
“Eddie, you’re behaving like a child.”
“Then go find yourself an omega who will behave like an adult,” Eddie huffed. “Or wait… You never even wanted to be with an omega because you always thought we were too much work.”
“I never said that!”
“No, but you implied it.”
Buck sighed and sat down on the floor, facing his back to the door. “Babe, that was before I met you. You changed my mind about omegas.”
“That doesn’t make me feel any better,” Eddie told him.
Buck heard Eddie groan, which put him on alert. “You okay in there?” He asked. But then he heard shuffling against the door and soon Eddie’s voice was a lot closer.
“Are you even sure you want to be with me, Buck?”
“Of course, I wanna be with you!” Buck was quick to assure him. “I want to be with you more than anything.”
“Then why does it feel you’re not ready for this? For us to have a baby.”
“Eddie, we already have a kid together,” Buck reminded him. “I have been ready for so long.”
“It’s different with Chris. He was already 8 years old when you came into our lives and he was 14 when we got married and you officially became his parent.” Eddie paused before adding. “With this kid, you’re going to have to be there from the start.”
Before Buck could reply, the front door opened and then he heard crutches before they stopped in front of him.
“Uh, Buck? Why are you sitting in front of your bedroom door?” Chris asked.
“Your dad locked himself in there,” Buck replied. When Buck noticed the panic on Chris’ face, he quickly added. “He’s fine. He’s just-”
“-having a meltdown?” Eddie said from the other side. “Say it. I know you want to!”
“No, I wasn’t gonna say that,” Buck told him.
“What did you do?” Chris asked in an exasperated tone as he came closer to him and leaned against the door.
“I may have made the pumpkin joke again.” Buck cringed as the words left his mouth.
“Oh, Buck.” The 17-year-old shook his head. “You really called my dad a pumpkin when he already has body image issues because of the pregnancy?”
“It was in poor taste, I know.” Buck hung his head in defeat.
Above him, Chris sighed and reached down to touch his chin. “You’re gonna be alright, kid. Lemme try talking to him.”
Buck looked up and grinned at Chris.
Chris softly knocked on the door. “Hey, Dad? I know what Buck said was uncalled for, but he’s really sorry.”
“I am, Eddie!” Buck chimed in and earned a glare from Chris, and he put up his hands.
“Is he still out there?” Eddie asked after a while.
“Yeah,” Chris replied. “I don’t think he’s going anywhere while you’re upset in there.”
“Well, then he can be there all night.” Eddie huffed again.
“While you sit there on the other side with him and give yourself muscle cramps?” Chris asked gently, with a fond smile on his face. “Just come out.”
There was silence on the other side again. “Fine,” Eddie replied, sounding defeated.
The door clicked, and Buck immediately got up from the floor. “Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, Chris. You are literally the best!” He wanted to hug him, but he knew how the 17-year-old felt about hugs.
“Just don’t call my dad a pumpkin again,” Chris practically warned him.
“I won’t, I promise. I will call him Cinderella instead!” Buck told him.
“Why? Is it because I am an omega?” Eddie was still in the room with fresh tears in his eyes.
“Oh no. No, no, no, no” Buck tried to go inside, but Eddie slammed the door in his face before he could.
Chris pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head. “You’re on your own now.”

You Are In Love (Buddie Fanfic)
Tumblr media
They are on a 24-hour shift and are supposed to take a nap at the station, but Eddie can’t sleep. He has too much going through his mind. So he lays there awake, arm on his forehead, as he stares at the ceiling. His thoughts go to Buck and he looks beside him to see Buck fast asleep in his cot, his mouth slightly open as a soft snore spills out of it. Eddie can’t help but find that endearing.
Something has shifted between them lately. It started when Eddie's truck broke down and Buck offered to drive him home. It was close to midnight and the streets of L.A. were uncharacteristically quiet, and so were the two of them.
"Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl going to the bathroom?" Buck asked all of a sudden
Eddie looked over at him confused, "What?"
"Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl going to the bathroom?" Buck repeated himself, and Eddie could see the beginnings of a cheeky smile on his lips.
"I don't know, Buck." Eddie finally sighed.
"Because the 'P' is silent." With that Buck threw his head back against the seat and laughed.
His laugh was infectious and despite it being a terrible joke, Eddie couldn't help but laugh along with Buck.
"Where did you even hear that?" Eddie asked. "On a cereal box for 8-year-olds?"
"No!" Buck huffed. "The cereal was at least meant for 12-year-olds, thank you very much. Speaking of which, do you think Chris will like this joke?"
"I think Chris will roll his eyes and tell you you're silly," Eddie replied.
Buck pouted at him in return. "I don't like that he's growing up so fast."
"And you think I do?" Eddie scoffed. "I wish I could just keep him little forever."
"Why? You scared he's gonna make you a grandfather soon?" Buck teased.
"Don't even joke about that," Eddie told him. More like warned him.
Buck put up one hand in surrender. "Okay, okay, I won't."
And then they fell into a comfortable silence again.
"You wanna have coffee?" Buck asked all of a sudden.
"Buck, it's midnight," Eddie reminded him.
"I know," Buck replied. "So coffee?"
Eddie gave up and sighed. "Sure."
Eddie thought they were going to get coffee from a drive-thru but nope, Buck had other plans. He pulled up at a 24-hour diner and led them inside, where he ordered coffee and pumpkin pie for both of them.
Eddie raised an eyebrow at him. "Pumpkin pie?"
"Halloween is in 2 days." Buck shrugged as if that answered everything.
They ate pie and drank coffee while talking about their day and about Christopher. It was their usual thing, but there was something different about today. Buck's leg kept brushing against his under the table and his gaze kept falling on Eddie's lips. Eddie squirmed in his seat. He wasn't uncomfortable. He was just very aware of Buck's eyes on him.
Eddie looked down and continued to eat his pie when he heard Buck say, "Look up,"
Eddie did and with no warning, Buck reached out and wiped the corner of his mouth with his thumb. That’s when something reflected in Eddie’s eyes under the light and he realized that there was something around Buck's neck. A chain with a locket. He had never seen that before.
“What’s that?” Eddie asked, pointing at the locket that sat on Buck’s uniform.
“It’s a locket, Eddie,” Buck replied with a cheeky smile.
“I can see that, genius. I’ve never seen it before,” Eddie pointed out.
“That’s because I never wear it.” Buck cradled his hand around the heart-shaped locket. “Maddie bought one for each of us when we were younger. I was at a low point and she wanted me to feel loved, so she gave it to me and said that one day when I find the person who loves me unconditionally, then I can put their picture in here.”
Eddie felt a slight ache in his heart and he didn’t understand why. That meant Buck had found the person who loved him unconditionally. That person had to be Natalia since Buck was dating her right now. But then why did Buck bring him here and make him feel like he was the pumpkin pie Buck wanted to devour? Maybe he just read the whole thing wrong.
They ate in silence and when it came time to settle the check, Buck paid before Eddie could even get his wallet out. This oddly felt like a date, but why would Buck bring him to a date if he were dating Natalia? No, Eddie was reading too much into it. He was also reading too much into the fact that Buck kept brushing their shoulders together once they left the diner.
The next time Eddie notices something has changed between them he gets a little too drunk and crashes at Buck’s place. It was a rare Saturday off for all of them and Christopher was at a sleepover at a friend’s house. And of course, as always, the 118 spent time with each other rather than doing something else. At the end of the night, Eddie had had a little too much. So Buck took him to his place to keep an eye on him and let him sleep it off. He doesn’t remember much about that night. He just remembers waking up the next morning to the smell of burned toast. It took him a minute to realize he was at Buck’s place and in Buck’s clothes. He couldn’t help but take a sniff of the plaid shirt Buck had put him in. It smelled like Buck. He tried not to dwell on the fact that Buck had changed his clothes.
“Morning, Cinderella.”
Eddie's brows furrowed when he heard that. “Cinderella?”
“You don’t remember? Last night, a very drunk Hen asked you what Disney princess you would be, and you replied Cinderella because “Cinders just gets me, you know? She couldn’t be with the person she loved and neither could I”” He did a very bad impression of Eddie before adding. “I don’t think you really know how that story went.”
“Well, she briefly couldn’t be with the man she loved,” Eddie huffed.
“Oh yeah? And who's the man you can’t be with?” Buck stepped into Eddie’s space.
“I never said ‘man’.” Eddie didn’t step back. He kept standing where he was -just inches away from Buck. Buck stepped even closer, using the two inches he had on Eddie to tower over him. For once, Eddie just wanted to let go and give in. But his fears won, and he stepped back.
Which brings Eddie to today. As he lay here thinking about Buck, who was literally beside him in his own cot. Eddie couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to share the cot with him. The cots weren’t big enough to accommodate two men their size, but Eddie would find a way to make them fit. Or at least that’s what Eddie told himself as he turned in his cot to look at Buck. It’s as if Buck knew Eddie was watching him because the next second, his eyes flicker open and he’s smiling at Eddie.
“Hey,” Eddie whispers.
There is a strange look on Buck’s face. One Eddie can’t decipher. He pauses then says, “You know you’re my best friend, right?”
Eddie’s eyebrows furrow in confusion.
“...and that I love you?” Buck adds, and then he’s fast asleep again before Eddie can reply.
Eddie doesn’t know what to make of that. Buck told Eddie that he was his best friend and that he loved him at the same time. Granted, he was probably half asleep at the time, but he still said it.
Eddie’s not any close to figuring out what this thing between them is. But then he gets his chance. It’s not his fault. It’s just sitting there in the locker room, on top of Buck’s hoodie. His locket. Buck is in the shower and probably won’t be out for a while. This is Eddie’s chance. He needs to know who Buck holds close to his heart. So he picks up the locket and opens it…
His heart skips when he sees what’s inside, and then he’s warm all over.
Someone clears their throat behind him and Eddie curses under his breath and turns around. Before Buck can say anything, Eddie quickly asks, “Why do you have a picture of Christopher and me in your locket?”
A look passes Buck’s face. He almost seems hurt and Eddie realizes that his tone sounded accusatory.
Buck approaches him. Just a towel wrapped around his waist and he doesn’t take his eyes off Eddie the entire time. “I told you, Maddie gave me the locket and told me to put the picture of someone who loves me unconditionally in there… and that’s you and Chris.”
Eddie can’t help himself. He practically flings himself in Buck’s arms and kisses him, right there in the locker room for everyone to see. Buck kisses him back with as much fervor. When they come up for air, Eddie says, “I love you too, Buck.”

Samtember Day 03: Delacroix | Louisiana
422 Words | Rated G | @samsseptember
Tumblr media
Sam never thought he would be the person to open up a bar in New Orleans, but here he was, full-time Captain America, and part-time bar owner with his partner, Bucky. It was Bucky’s idea. He bartended in Delacroix for a while before deciding that he wanted his own bar and managed to convince Sam to go along with his plan. He had a solid business plan which he came up with all by himself. Sam was impressed, to say the least.
So now here they were, two months into their new venture. Sam spent most of his time on missions but when he did get time off, he would come down to New Orleans and help Bucky out with the business. Tourists were particularly interested in the fact that the place was run by Captain America and Bucky Barnes, while locals didn’t seem to care. That’s why Sam loves Louisiana.
It was one of those rare Saturdays when Sam got the opportunity to come to New Orleans and meet Bucky. When he walked into the bar, he was pleasantly surprised to see the Avengers there.
“Sam!” Scott yelled over the loud music. “You’re here!”
“When did you all get here?” Sam asked as he got behind the bar and kissed Bucky’s cheek.
“Hours ago!” Kata hiccuped as she drank a pink and green cocktail.
“Are you even old enough to drink?” Sam asked her.
“That’s what I asked!” Riri chimed in and gently punched Sam’s shoulder. “Took you long enough!”
“Sam!” Torres leaned over the bar and tried to hug Sam. “I missed you.”
Bucky frowned at that, making Sam laugh a little. He awkwardly patted Torres on the back, as he asked, “So many have you had to drink?”
“Not enough!” Torres said pulling away and giving Sam a goofy smile. “Did I tell you I missed you?”
“Yeah, you may have said something about that,” Bucky grumbled and glared at Torres.
Torres put his hands up in surrender and batted his eyes at Bucky. “Can I have another beer?”
“Sure,” Bucky sighed opened a bottle, and put it in front of Torres.
“Let’s all do shots!” Hope shouted over the music. “Sam, that means you too!”
“Hell yeah!” Sam picked up a bottle of vodka and yelled, “Who wants shots? First rounds on the house!”
The whole bar erupted with excitement.
Sam poured vodka into a row of shot glasses and everyone took a glass. “To New Orleans!” Sam yelled.
“To New Orleans!” Everyone shouted and took a drink.

Samtember Day 06: Day Off | Vacation
272 words | Rated G | @samsseptember
((I chose Day Off for this drabble))
Tumblr media
It was one of those rare Saturdays when Sam wasn’t on a mission or dealing with other Avengers business. So he had only one plan today. Spend the day cuddling with Bucky and do nothing else. Okay, maybe a little sexy times in between wouldn’t hurt. But cuddling was the key priority.
Bucky’s arms tightened around Sam’s middle, and his warm breath tickled his ear. “Mornin’ sweetheart.”
Bucky’s voice sent a shiver down Sam’s spine, and he turned around in Bucky’s arms to face him. “Morning.”
“What time is it?” Bucky asked, tipping his head back and yawning loudly.
“Doesn’t matter, because we’re sleeping today,” Sam replied.
A smirk crossed Bucky’s lips, and he pulled Sam even closer, pressed right up against his chest. “Oh yeah? And what will we do?”
“Not what you’re thinking. So you can put that smirk away,” Sam chuckled and kissed Bucky when he the other man frowned at him. “We’re gonna cuddle and you’re gonna love it.”
“Oh, am I?” Bucky asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes, you are,” Sam confirmed, leaving no room for argument. “And then you’re going to make me your delicious pancakes.”
“And other commands, Your Highness?” Bucky teased.
“That’s all for now.” Now it was Sam’s turn to smirk.
Bucky shook his head, amused, and then leaned in to capture Sam’s lips in a long kiss. When they parted, Bucky pressed his forehead against Sam’s and rested his hand on Sam’s cheeks. “You’re a menace, you know that?”
“And you love me just the same,” Sam told him and kissed him again.
Just as Sam had predicted, Bucky ended up making pancakes for him that afternoon.

Samtember Day 04: Siblings | Uncle Sam
586 Words | Rated G | @samsseptember
((I chose siblings for this prompt!))
Tumblr media
The boat rocked from side to side with the wind as Sam sat on it with his knees brought up to his chest, staring up at the dark sky. The clouds were rolling in quickly and soon it would rain. An apt metaphor for his grief right now.
“There you are.”
Sam heard Sarah’s voice and looked up to find her standing on the pier with a concerned look.
“Do you know how worried I’ve been?” She asked. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
“I just needed to be alone for a little while,” Sam shrugged.
“And you couldn’t ask me for some privacy? Instead, you came out here in a storm, and worried me half to death?”
“I’m sorry, Sarah,” Sam apologized but offered no other explanation.
Sarah sighed and got into the boat. She crouched next to Sam and took his hand in her own. “I know you’re hurting, Sam. You’ve lost the love of your life. But you can’t punish yourself by coming out here and hoping that the storm would take you away.”
Sam looked up at her and shook his head. “That’s not what I was-”
“I’m your sister, Sam. You don’t think I know what you’re doing?” Sarah asked, giving him a sympathetic look.
Sam hated that look. It made him feel like a wounded puppy. “He is supposed to be here, Sarah. I should have saved him!” His voice broke as he said and he could feel tears forming in his eyes again.
“Oh, Sam.” Sarah sat down on the boat and pulled him into a hug. “I’m so sorry, Sam. I’m so sorry. I know how much you loved him. I can’t even imagine what you’re going through right now, but you can’t let this grief consume you. Please talk to someone. Someone who can help you through this.”
“There you two are. I've been looking everywhere for you."
Sam looked up to find his brother-in-law, Kevin, standing on the pier.
“The storm’s rolling in. Come on, we gotta go,” Kevin urged them.
“Yeah, yeah, don’t lose your wits. We were just coming,” Sarah told her husband and let go of Sam to stand up.
Kevin gave her his hand, and she got onto the pier and fell right into his arms. The pair laughed and Sam’s heart ached. It made him miss Riley even more.
He got up and got onto the pier as well, and Kevin gave him a concerned look. “You okay?” He asked.
“Yeah, I’m good,” Sam replied, nodding.
Kevin wrapped an arm around Sam’s shoulders and pulled him close. “We got you, Sammy,” he said. “We got you.”
“Yeah, Sam, we’re always here for you,” Sarah assured him.
“Thanks, y’all, but I’m- I’m moving to D.C. in two weeks,” Sam told them.
Kevin looked over at Sarah and then the two of them looked at Sam. “You sure about that?” Kevin asked. “I mean, you need your family right now.”
“I need to be out there doing something,” Sam told them. “I can’t just stay here, hidden away. That’s not what Riley would want.”
“RILEY would want you to take care of yourself, Sam,” Sarah told him.
Sam sighed. “I will take care of myself.”
“Sam-”
Sam noticed when Kevin put a hand on Sarah’s wrist to stop her.
“You do what you think is best, bro-in-law,” Kevin told him and squeezed his shoulders. “Besides, I hear Captain America lives there. Maybe you can get me an autograph.”
“Yeah, like I’ll ever run into Captain America,” Sam scoffed.

All It Takes Is Some Trying
Tumblr media
Summary: In which Buck finds Eddie's old CD collections and gifts them to him.
***
“What’s wrong?” Buck asked Eddie as he unpacked the grocery bags in the kitchen. There was a sullen look on Eddie’s face that bothered him.
“Just something Chris said today that struck a chord with me,” Eddie replied, putting the groceries away.
“What did he say?” Buck stopped unpacking and gave Eddie his full attention. “I mean, he’s 12, Eddie. He’s going through his rebellion phase. You can’t take anything he says to heart.”
“No, it’s not that.” Eddie frowned. “And thanks, Buck, for reminding me he will soon have a rebellious phase, too.” He paused before adding. “Today, I was about to get out of the truck to walk with him to his class, but he stopped me. He said he was and I quote, “Good.” Like, what the hell is that even supposed to mean?”
Buck burst out laughing at that. “That means he’s growing up. He doesn’t want Dad walking him to 7th grade, or he doesn’t want you to fall for another one of his teachers.”
“Well, he knows the latter won’t happen because I am dating his other favorite human,”
Eddie said with a roll of his eyes as he opened the box of cereal and started dumping it into the cereal container.
Buck moved around the kitchen and island and stopped behind Eddie. He wrapped his arms around his boyfriend’s waist and rested his chin on his shoulder. “You really think I’m his second favorite person?” He asked.
“No, you and I share the title of his favorite person,” Eddie replied and stopped what he was doing to lean back against Buck. “He would let you walk him to class.”
“Oh, come on, that’s not fair, baby. I don’t think he would let me walk him to class either,” Buck told him, kissing behind his ear.
“He’s growing up so fast, Buck,” Eddie said, with a hint of sadness in his voice. “I don’t like it.”
“You can’t stunt his growth. That’s not how it works. He’ll grow up and he’ll become his own person, and you’ll just have to live with it.”
“Yeah, but even now, he is hiding away in his room. God knows doing what, and I barely see him.” Eddie huffed.
“You gotta talk to him like he’s a teenager because ultimately that’s what he is. Don’t treat him like a child.”
“He’s still a child. My child,” Eddie insisted. “I can’t just let him go.”
“I am not telling you to let him go.” Buck sighed. “Okay, come on, I found something earlier today. I think it will take your mind off this whole thing.” He pulled away from Eddie and took his hand instead.
“I don’t feel like it, Buck.” Eddie tried pulling his hand back. “Besides, I gotta put the groceries away.”
“The groceries will still be there,” Buck told him. “This is way more important.” He dragged Eddie to the living room. “Okay, close your eyes.”
“Buck, I don’t have time for this,” Eddie said, annoyed.
“Come on, Eddie, just humor me.”
“Fine,” Eddie grumbled and closed his eyes.
Eddie retrieved a box he had left behind the couch and brought it over to Eddie. “Okay, open your eyes.”
When Eddie did, his eyebrows immediately furrowed.
“Ta duh!” Buck said excitedly and handed the box over to Eddie.
“What’s th-” Eddie stopped mid-sentence and his eyes widened in surprise. “Wait, these are my old CDs from when I was a kid. Where did you get them?”
“Last week when we drove down to your parent’s place, I was in the attic, helping your abuela look for something when I came across these,” Buck replied, grinning at him. “She told me how you would save up to buy these and then stay in your room for hours listening to them.”
“How did I not see you bring these to the car?” Eddie asked as he browsed through the collection.
‘I was sneaky.” Buck smirked and shrugged. His heart melted at the smile on Eddie’s face. He looked so in awe of the collection.
“Let’s play something from here,” Eddie said all of a sudden.
“Yeah?” Buck asked excitedly. “Do you even have a CD player?”
“Of course I do!” Eddie replied with as much enthusiasm. “I’ll be right back” He went to the room and after a few minutes and a lot of noise, he came back with a CD boombox. “Had this thing hidden somewhere deep under my bed.”
“Why do you even have it?” Buck asked as he examined the round blue top-loading CD player.
“That doesn’t matter. Aren’t you just glad that I do?” Eddie asked.
Buck gave him a suspicious look before browsing through the collection. He pulled out a CD case that still looked in mint condition, apart from the dust, and immediately recognized it. “Hey, Maddie used to have this CD. She had the biggest crush on Enrique Iglesias,” he recalled. “She’d listen to Hero on repeat all day long. She even said that the girl in the music video looked like her. I got so tired of that song that I hid her CD.”
“You didn’t!” Eddie gasped. He took the CD case from Buck and examined it. “Somewhere deep down, I had a crush on Enrique too. But I just never wanted to admit it. My favorite was always Escape. Although, Hero was my second favorite.” He hooked up the CD player and put the CD into it.
Soon the sounds of guitar blared through the room, followed by Enrique Iglesias’ voice, as “Escape” started playing.
“Weren’t you like 9 when this album came out?” Buck asked. “How did you score the CD?”
“My abuela. She was a huge fan of Julio Iglesias. She knew how much I wanted this album, so she gifted it to me on my birthday,”
Buck nodded before bopping his head along with the music. His feet soon started moving to the music too, and he held his hand out towards Eddie, “Can I have this dance?”
Eddie raised his eyebrows and laughed before giving his hand Buck.
The two started dancing to the music. Buck twirled Eddie around and caught him in his arms and the two laughed before singing loudly, “If you feel like leaving. Then I”m not gonna make you stay. But soon you will find that, you can run, you hide, but you can’t escape my love.”
“What are you doing?”
Buck heard a voice and looked over to see Christopher standing there with an unamused look on his face. “Dancing,” he smugly told the kid.
“Yeah, I can see that, Buck.” Chris rolled his eyes. “What’s that? Is that a new speaker?”
“Not just a speaker, it’s a CD player,” Eddie replied, turning off the music.
“You have one of those?” Chris asked, sound a bit more curious now. He went over to the CD player and looked at it in awe. “So cool,” he said under his breath, but Buck heard it anyway.
“Yeah, Buck found my old CD collection, so we were just playing them,” Eddie told him and showed him the box with the CDs.
“Can I see them?” Chris asked as he took a seat.
“Of course!” Eddie put the box on Chris’ lap and let him look through them.
“Who were you singing along to?” Chris asked.
“Enrique Iglesias,” Eddie told him and sat down beside him.
“Wow, there’s a lot of pop music in here,” Chris noted. “Is this Fearless by Taylor Swift?” He asked, picking up one of the CDs.
“Okay, that’s not mine. Pretty sure that one belonged to Adriana,” Eddie replied, taking the CD from Chris and putting it aside.
“It’s okay, dad, I like Taylor Swift too,” Chris said, putting a hand on Eddie’s arm.
“She’s cool. I secretly liked her songs, but it was a no-no to admit it out loud as a boy,” Eddie told Chris.
“That’s silly. You should be able to enjoy whatever music you want to.”
“Couldn’t agree more, kid,” Eddie replied.
Buck watched the pair interact and smiled. He was proud of himself for having found this CD collection. At least it was something that got the father-son duo talking again.
“Dad?” Chris said after a few minutes.
“Yeah?” Eddie turned to look at him. “What’s up?”
“I’m sorry I didn’t let you go to class with me today. I just wanted to do it on my own. I hope you understand.”
Buck noticed the sad look on Eddie’s face, but then he smiled at Chris, nonetheless. “It’s okay, kiddo. I get it. You don’t want your old man around all the time.”
“It’s not that! I want you around!” Chris insisted. “I just- I want my classmates to see me as someone who is independent. That’s very important to me.”
Eddie nodded in understanding. “I get it, Chris. You don’t need to explain yourself.”
“Thanks, dad,” Chris said appreciatively. “Can we listen to this?” He asked, pulling out a CD.
“This is the mixtape I made your mom during our senior year,” Eddie recounted, as he took the CD.
“That’s why I wanna hear it.” Chris paused for a second before adding, “I mean, only if it’s okay with Buck?”
“Of course! Why wouldn’t i be okay with it?” Buck asked and took the CD from Eddie and put it in the CD player.
“Who’s this dude?” Christopher asked frowning.
“James Blunt.” Eddie visibly cringed at that. “In my defense, this song was really famous back then, and it represented exactly what I felt for your mom.”
“It’s such a stalker song!” Buck laughed.
“I agree with Buck on this one!” Christopher teased.
“Hey!” Eddie huffed at them, but then a small smile creeped across his lips.
Buck wanted to capture and keep this moment forever.

Samtember Day 09: Carnival | King of Mardi Gras
841 words | Rated G | @samsseptember
((I chose Carnival as the theme))
Tumblr media
It was a warm summer night and Joaquin arrived at Sam’s apartment in a car he borrowed from his friend. He looked at himself in the rearview mirror, straightened his olive jacket, and ran his fingers through his hair to make sure that it looked good. After deciding that he looked enough, Joaquin went to the door and rang the doorbell.
When Sam opened the door, Joaquin’s breath was almost knocked out of him. He wore a white button-up shirt and black slacks, and he was perfectly groomed, as always. Joaquin felt his heart racing. “Wow, you look beautiful,” he managed to say.
“Thank you,” Sam replied as he stepped out of the apartment. ‘You don’t look too bad yourself,” he added cheekily.
“Thanks,” Joaquin chuckled as he led Sam to his car.
“I didn’t know you could drive?” Sam said as he got in.
“I’m from Arizona, Sam. It’s kind of a requirement to drive out there,” Joaquin replied and pulled out of the street. “This is my friend’s car, by the way. I never really needed one here in New York.”
“How are you liking New York and the civilian life, anyway?” Sam asked.
“I miss home. I’m not gonna lie. But I’m glad you’re here.” Joaquin didn’t mean for it to sound as flirty as it did. But oh well, the damage was done.
Sam just laughed at that. So that was a good sign. “So, ready for a fun evening?” He asked instead.
“With you, I am always ready for an adventure,” Joaquin replied, blatantly flirting with Sam again.
“You’re really laying it on thick, aren’t you?” Sam asked.
“I am trying to.” Joaquin didn’t look over at him and kept on driving.
Random small talk filled the rest of the trip upstate. When they finally got to the fair and parked, Joaquin was immediately by Sam’s side when he got out. There were bright lights everywhere, as it was after dusk. They first browsed the place before stopping near the games. Joaquin tried Ring Toss at first but was absolutely terrible at it. He then tried his hand at whack-a-mole and that’s where he excelled. He won a giant brown teddy bear, which he handed over to Sam.
“Oh, no, no, no, I’m not carrying this thing around the fair,” he told Joaquin.
Joaquin turned his sad big brown eyes at Sam, who sighed and took the teddy bear. “So manipulative,” he grumbled under his breath, but Joaquin heard it anyway. He followed Sam through the fair with a pep in his step.
Once they got hungry, the two of them had funnel cake and cotton candy like a couple of kids.
“Do you know how many carbs these things have?” Sam asked as he ate the funnel cake.
“No, do you?” Joaquin asked.
“No, but I don’t care right now because I am having the time of my life,” Sam replied and gave Joaquin a smile that brightened his whole evening.
After they finished eating and walked around, Joaquin dared to take Sam’s hand, who didn’t protest, so that was another good sign.
“You wanna go on the Ferris Wheel?” Joaquin asked once they were near the brightly lit giant wheel.
“Sure, why not?” Sam shrugged and dragged Joaquin along to stand in the line. Once they got to the front, Joaquin let Sam ‌take a seat while he talked to the operator.
“What was that about?” Sam asked once Joaquin got in.
“Oh, I was just asking him how old this thing was because it doesn’t look very safe,” Joaquin replied.
“Not afraid of heights now, are you, Joaquin?” Sam teased, bumping his shoulder against Joaquin’s.
“No, of course not! I mean, if I was afraid of heights, then I would never wear the Falcon suit.”
“I know, I know, I’m just joking,” Sam chuckled and leaned in to kiss Joaquin’s cheek.
Joaquin’s entire face suddenly felt very warm, and he looked up at Sam, surprised.
“You’re cute when you’re flustered,” Sam told him.
The Ferris Wheel soon started going around and Joaquin slowly moved the teddy bear Sam had placed between them to the side and scooted closer to Sam. If Sam noticed, then he said nothing.
Once they reached the top, the Ferris Wheel stopped.
“Um, Sam?” Joaquin called out.
“Yeah?” Sam asked, looking over at him.
Under the bright lights of the Ferris Wheel, Sam looked even more beautiful. “Can I- uh- can I kiss you?”
Sam burst out laughing, dwindling Joaquin’s confidence a little.
“You gave the operator money to stop up here, didn’t you?” He asked.
“How did you-”
“That’s a classic trick. I bet the operator makes tons of money on the side.”
Joaquin blushed and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Yes, by the way.”
Joaquin looked up when he heard that. “What?”
“You can kiss me,” Sam said, leaning in.
Joaquin closed the gap between them and finally kissed him. He could swear there were fireworks behind them or maybe they were just in his heart.

In It For the Long Haul (Buddie Fanfic)
((Based on a prompt I got: Eddie gets second degree burns on a call and Buck has to carry him out))
***
“This is it. This is how I’m gonna die,” Eddie thought to himself as he lay there face first on the ground and watched everything around him get engulfed by fire. He couldn’t move. A piece of the ceiling had fallen on his back, pinning him to the floor as he was attempting to leave after getting everyone out of the house. He was trying to push it away and get up but he didn’t have enough strength left in him. His once pristine gear was now tattered, which made it easier for the flames to burn him. He screamed in pain and tried pushing the concrete ceiling off of himself again, but failed.
As he began to lose consciousness, he thought about Chris. Chris, who was still so young. Eddie wondered if he would still remember him if he died here today. Buck would take good care of him. Give him all the love Eddie would have given him and some more. Buck, god, Buck would probably do something reckless and put his own life in danger. Eddie really hopes he doesn’t because Chris is going to need him more than anything. Thoughts of Buck and Chris started to disappear from his mind as he started to lose consciousness. He was ready to let the flames engulf him when he heard voices.
Eddie opened his eyes to see someone with an oxygen mask hovering next to him. He then heard a familiar voice, “Eddie, Eddie, stay with me!”
“B-Buck?” Eddie’s voice sounded so small and broken to his own ears.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s me, Eddie. Just keep your eyes open. Please,” Buck begged him.
“Am I dead?” Eddie asked.
“No. And I won’t let you die.” There it was. Buck’s determined voice.
Soon the flames started to dissipate around them, and the pressure was soon off his back. He cried out simultaneously in pain and relief as they lifted the ceiling off his back.
“Buck, we got it!” Eddie heard Bobby say.
“No! I wanna be the one to do this!”
Eddie noticed as Buck struggled to pick him up. Even through the mask, Eddie could see there was anguish and deep-rooted fear in his boyfriend’s eyes, which then turned into something more determined. Eddie groaned in pain as Buck hauled him up, threw him over his shoulder and practically ran out the door.
Everything was a blur after that. Eddie vaguely remembered the ride to the hospital. He remembered the commotion around him before darkness took over him.
Eddie heard the beeping before he opened his eyes. Bright lights made him groan and close his eyes again.
“Eddie.”
Eddie heard a familiar voice and slowly looked over to find Buck standing there with a concerned look painted across his face.
“Hey,” Eddie greeted him hoarsely.
“Oh, Eddie, thank god you’re awake.”
Eddie could see the relief on his boyfriend’s face. He looked so tired. There were bags under his eyes and he looked like he hadn’t slept for days. “Are you okay?” Eddie asked worriedly.
Buck let out a humorless laugh. “I should ask you that.”
“I’m good,” Eddie replied and tried to smile.
“Of course you are,” Buck huffed. “Gave me the scare of my life and says he’s okay.”
Eddie noticed the bandages on his arms and he could feel one around his torso too. “How bad is it?”
“They said you have second-degree burns,” Buck replied. “But you’ll make a full recovery in a couple weeks.”
“That’s good,” Eddie said, relaxing his head against the pillow. “Where’s Christopher?”
“Christopher’s in the waiting room with Carla,” Buck replied. “He insisted on coming here, and I let him, but then we got caught.”
“Of course you did,” Eddie let out an amused chuckle. “You’re terrible at being discrete.”
“I guess I am,” Buck replied and gave Eddie a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I thought I lost you,” he said after a while.
“But you didn’t,” Eddie pointed out. “I am here for the long haul.”

Samtember Day 05: Fishing | Camping
818 words | Rated G | @samsseptember
((I chose camping for this prompt and made it a bit of an au))
Tumblr media
Sam swung side to side on the hammock with a book in hand, his twin toddlers on either side of him, and a look of concern on his face. He wasn’t actually reading the book. He was instead busy watching his husband trying to put together the tent and failing miserably at it.
“I got this, Sam,” Steve had insisted. “You just go ahead and read to the boys.”
And so Sam did. “Do you need help?” He asked around 10 minutes ago.
“No! I can do this!” Steve replied, a little angrier than he probably intended to sound.
Sam put up his hands in surrender and went back to reading until the kids fell asleep. Sam loved his husband with all his heart, but the guy was terrible with directions and more stubborn than necessary. First, he got them lost while driving, and now Sam’s city-boy husband was trying to put together a tent he clearly did not know how to put together.
Sam could see when the tent left Steve exasperated and close to tears. But he still didn’t ask for help. Stubborn to a fault. So Sam took pity on him and carefully got up, which obviously woke up the twins. They stared at Sam with their big brown eyes. “Boys, do you wanna help Daddy put together the tent?” He asked them.
“Yes!” the boys said together and scrambled to get out of the hammock. The older one, Riley, almost fell, but then steadied himself and went over to Steve. Sam put James on the ground before getting out of the hammock himself.
“Eight hands are better than two,” Sam told Steve, who looked like he was ready to protest once again.
Steve sighed, and his shoulders dropped in defeat. “Fine,” he mumbled.
Between the four of them (more like the two. Riley and James got bored after 2 minutes and started chasing each other instead), they put the tent together with a lot of help from YouTube and a minimal amount of crying and screaming.
They spent the rest of the night playing with the kids in the lake and then reading to them until they fell asleep, asking more questions than either Sam or Steve could ever answer.
Sam got out of the tent and went to sit by the lake, a couple of feet from them, and look out at the dark night sky. It was so peaceful here. Such a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. Sam enjoyed being Captain America. He did. But sometimes he wished he could just take a break.
A couple of minutes later, he felt something on his shoulders and looked up to find Steve putting a blanket on him.
“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” Steve asked as he sat down beside Sam.
Sam rested his head on Steve’s shoulder, as he said, “I’m not a camping guy, but I sure do wanna start now.”
“I can’t believe I turned you into a camping guy,” Steve teased.
“You didn’t, city boy. But this trip sure did.”
“Hey!” Steve huffed, offended, but then laughed. “I’m sorry about earlier. I shouldn’t have yelled at you, and I should have asked for help. I just wanted to be the one to do this, you know?”
Sam looked up at Steve and frowned. ‘Why?”
“You’re Cap, but you’re also so much more. You can do so much more. But my identity starts and ends with that damn shield. It’s been 7 years since I retired, but I haven’t been able to make anything of myself.”
“I thought you enjoyed being a stay-at-home dad,” Sam said, worried.
“No, I do,” Steve was quick to assure him. “I love being a stay-at-home dad. I love looking after the two rascals. But I also wanna be able to put a tent together, you know?” Steve ducked his head as he added, “I’m not making any sense, am I?”
“No, you are, babe,” Sam told him. “Let’s make one thing clear. You are much more than that shield. You are a dad, a husband, a goddamn pillar of our Delacroix community. Just because you can’t put a tent together, doesn’t mean that you’re any less. Today, your sons saw you asking for help when you were stuck and you know they learned?”
Sam stopped and looked at Steve, who shook his head.
“They learned that it’s important to ask for help when you can’t do something by yourself. Kids are visual learners and now when they get stuck on something, instead of trying to figure it out on their own, they’ll ask for help.”
Steve said nothing for a while, but then he grinned and said, “Why are you so smart?”
“You really scored yourself a deal, didn’t you?” Sam joked.
“That I did,” Steve replied and captured Sam’s lips in a kiss.

Would You Rescue Me? (Buddie Fanfic)
((Based on a prompt I got: Eddie gets mugged while Buck is going to get the car, but he sees it from a distance and steps in.
TW: Mugging))
Eddie stumbled as he walked down the street. His head was spinning, and he did not know where he was going. He vaguely remembered Buck’s voice telling him to wait while he got the car, but he couldn’t be sure if it was real or not. He should probably get an Uber. But he needs his phone for that. Shit, where was his phone?
Eddie felt something poke in his side before he heard the voice.
“Give me your wallet!”
Eddie was so drunk that at first, he didn’t even realize that he was being robbed.
“And your phone!”
The person beside him dug whatever they had in their hand further into Eddie’s side.
“No,” Eddie replied, feeling bold. Or maybe it was his state of drunkenness talking.
“I have a gun in my hand, asshole. Now give me your wallet and phone,” the man growled in Eddie’s ear.
“You know, I’ve just been through a nasty breakup. I don’t need this right now,” Eddie told the mugger, unfazed by his gun.
Eddie felt the mugger poke him harder. “I don’t care about your life story. Give me your damn wallet and phone right now.”
“Nah, I don’t think you’ll pull the trigger.” Sober Eddie would probably yell at him for being so stupid, but right now, he just didn’t care.
“Hey! What’s going on over there?”
Eddie heard a familiar voice and a huge grin spread across his face. “Buck!” He called out. “Oh not much. This person is just trying to rob me. I think they just need a hug.”
“No, I don’t need a damn hug,” the mugger replied. “Just give me your wallet and your phone. Both of you.”
“No, I don’t think we will,” Buck said, coming closer to them. “Even from here, I can tell that’s not a real gun.”
Eddie gasped at that and looked at the mugger. “You dirty, dirty cheat.”
The mugger looked between Buck and Eddie before running away.
Eddie threw his head back against the wall and laughed. “That wasn’t funny, Eddie.” When Buck got closer, Eddie could see his glare. “I told you to stay outside the bar. Why did you leave?”
“You’re yelling at me.” Eddie pouted at him.
“I-” Buck groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’m not yelling. I was just worried. Are you okay?”
Eddie nodded. “As okay as I can be after Marisol dumped me,” he added dramatically.
Buck shook his head. He then wrapped his arm around Eddie’s shoulders and led him to the car. Eddie leaned against him and smiled.
.“So, what happened between Marisol and you?” Buck casually asked once they were on the freeway.
“She dumped me, Buck. That’s what happened.” Eddie went back to being dramatic. “She thinks I am in love with someone else.”
Buck’s eyes narrowed, and he glanced over at Eddie. “With who?” He asked.
“With you,” Eddie replied without missing a beat.
“What?!” Buck asked, looking over at him again. “She thinks you’re in love with me?”
“Yeah.” Eddie shrugged like it was the most obvious thing in the world. He rested his head on the window and started to drift off to sleep.
“Hey, hey, Eddie, you can’t just drop that on me and fall asleep!”
Eddie groaned when he felt someone shaking him. “What?” He whined.
“Why does your ex think you are in love with me?” Buck asked.
Eddie yawned and settled back against the seat. “Because I think I am,” he replied offhandedly and fell asleep.
Eddie woke up again when he felt someone touching him. They hauled him to his feet and wrapped their arm around his waist. As Eddie became slightly more awake, he cracked open an eye and realized it was Buck. He was taking him into an elevator. “We’re not at mine,” he pointed out.
“No, I don’t want Chris seeing you like this,” Buck replied. Carla has agreed to spend the night at your place with Chris while you sleep off your drunk ass over here.”
Eddie leaned heavily on Buck’s back as Buck opened the door of his apartment. Buck smelled nice. Like rain and some kinda flower Eddie was too drunk to remember the name of.
“Hey!” Eddie complained when Buck took him inside and dumped him on the couch.
After Eddie lay down, he felt Buck take off his shoes and put a blanket over him and then there were fingers in his hair. He opened his eyes and found Buck looking at him. “What?” He asked in a sleep-heavy voice.
“Nothing, go to sleep, Eddie. We’ll talk in the morning.”
Eddie didn’t need to be told twice. He soon fell asleep but he could swear he felt something soft and wet pressed briefly against his forehead.

Sparks Fly
@apsiringghostmusicians This is for you. Thanks for believing in me, friend.
In which Sam is pissed and Bucky tries to serenade him with Taylor Swift's "Sparks Fly" at their daughter's insistence.
***
"Ri, where are you taking me, baby girl?" Sam asked when his 5-year-old pulled him along to the living room.
Sam was really not in the mood to do anything right now. He had a fight with Bucky and he had kicked him out for the night but he couldn't sleep without him.
Riley let go of Sam's hand and ran over to the window. "Papa, look!" she said excitedly and pointed out the open window.
Confused, Sam went over to her and looked outside, only to find Bucky standing out in the rain looking like a sad, wet cat. But then a brief smile appeared on his face when he saw Sam.
"I thought I told you to stay at the hotel tonight," Sam told him. "What are you doing back here?"
The smile dropped from Bucky's face. "Do I have to do this?" He asked Riley instead.
"Yes, Daddy! You are supposed to se- senarade papa!"
"Serenade," Bucky and Sam at the same time and looked at each other.
Bucky put his hands on his hips and looked around. He was really soaking through his leather jacket and Sam almost felt bad for him. Almost.
"Drop everything now. Meet me in the pouring rain-"
"Louder, Daddy!" Riley cheered Bucky on.
"Yeah, Daddy, I can't hear anything," Sam teased and leaned his forearms onto the window, and smirked at Bucky.
Bucky grumbled something, but then he cleared his throat and started singing again. Badly. "Drop everything now. Meet me in the pouring rain and kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain. Cause I've seen sparks fly, whenever you smile." He looked directly at Sam as he sang that last part and there was so much love and sincerity in his voice that it actually melted Sam's heart.
Sam ran outside and down the stairs to where Bucky was.
There was a small crowd gathering behind him but Bucky didn't seem to care, as he continued to sing his heart out in the rain. "Get me with those green eyes, baby-"
"My eyes are brown, you dumbass," Sam huffed as he stopped right in front of Bucky.
Bucky immediately opened his eyes and a bright smile spread across his face but he continued to sing softly just so Sam could hear him, "Get me with those brown eyes, baby, as the lights go down-"
Before Bucky could finish the line, Sam grabbed him by the face and kissed him.
"Gimme something that'll haunt me when you're not around," the crowd around them started to sing.
Sam pulled away and looked at them surprised. "What even?" He mouthed to Bucky.
Bucky laughed and brought Sam's face close again, "'Cause I see sparks fly, whenever you smile..." He finished the line before kissing him.
"Hey! You forgot about me," Riley chimed in and Sam and Bucky laughed and pulled away to find the 5-year-old standing beside them with her arms crossed across her chest.
"We can never forget you, baby girl," Sam assured his daughter and picked her up in his arms.
There were a bunch of "awws" from the crowd who continued to sing the song the whole time.
Bucky wrapped his arms around them and Sam knew that was his futile way of trying to protect them from the rain and from the strangers. "Okay, the show's over. Go home now," he told them before leading Sam and Riley back to their brownstone.
"How did you even remember the lyrics?" Sam asked impressed as they went up the stairs.
"Riley made me listen to the song 100 times," Bucky replied. "So are we good?" He asked, hopeful.
Riley was also giving Sam a hopeful look and Sam gave them both a serious look before a smile broke out across his face. "Yes, you are," he told his husband and leaned in, kissing him again.
