i'm sure this doesn't work on most conservative transphobic parents, but my sibling has been so insistent on using a trans friend's chosen name and pronouns when talking about him to my mother, despite her knowing the friend's deadname, that my mother finally conceded to using his chosen name instead when talking about him, even without my sibling around to catch it. while she's still transphobic i think at this point my mother knows just how disruptive it'd be to keep refusing when we insist on gendering this person correctly.

I think I'm managing to fight off dissociating holy shit??? This is the first time I notice when it starts holy shit????????
