Susan Estelle Kwas is a Milwaukee artist known for her vibrant illustrations and whimsical artist books. Her 2015 publication, A Collaborative Drawing Book is no exception as it invites readers into a visual conversation between Milwaukeean Fred Foss (1898) and Kwas (2015) over one hundred years in the making.
Kwas found Foss’ copy book in an antique shop and was so delighted by his graphite drawings that she decided to pair them with her own. Sometimes tucking characters into Foss’ scenery, other times superimposing them, Kwas’ colored pencil and watercolor contributions are nothing short of charming.
Kwas rebound the book in montage sur onglets form (with pages sewn on stubs to release them from the confines of the gutter) in buffalo leather, preserving the original orientation of each page. The cover decoration was created by blind tooling inset leather strips and is complimented by marbled endpapers.
Was Celia drunk as fuck or is this something supernatural?? 👀
Who the fuck is Jack?? 👀
Alice is such a delight, I love her!
Oof so one or both of them have trauma involving grandparents then.
I love Samama & Alice so much. 💜 They have a great dynamic!
Oh shit, right, Gwen is probably still getting over Mr. Bonzo too. 👀
"I just… I dunno. When I left the coffee shop, it felt like someone was following me."
Please don't take away Alice, she's one of my faves! I hope this post doesn't age poorly. Watch me have to quote this post very soon.
OH NO, is it that [ERROR] following her??? 😰
"Don’t joke about that, mate. I was dreaming about it all day." Okay, yeah, that's a creature.
Sam & Alice are both about to run into a creature... 👀
"Classifying unspeakable horrors all night for no discernible reason?" @/entities-of-posts & @/which-entity-this-post-serves is that you? :]
Hmm, now why is this episode called "marked?" I assumed Mr. Bonzo was gonna find his mark, but maybe Alice is marked by an entity/creature that was locked in the Magnus Institute?
"giving up the ghost" okay so someone saw an apparition? Honestly not sure what entity this episode is about so far.
It's giving The Corruption ✨🧟♀️⚰️ (maybe The Buried)
"It’s just that one of the graves had a body in that was too well-preserved for the age it should have been." 👀👀👀
This thing is about to jump out of the grave & run off, isn't it? 🏃♂️
"The back was completely covered in this complicated tattoo of a ship sailing across an open sea towards an open horizon." Peter Lukas?!?!?
Oh 100% The Buried, without a shadow of a doubt.
Lots of tattoo & carvings in walls imagery in this sequel prequel sidequel, isn't there? 👀
Hey wait, that's Ink5oul from episode 2, isn't it? 👀 Ink5oul definitely feels like a conduit or vessel for The Flesh or some other kind of entity.
Okay, there's something weird going on with this place, the salt water & waves near this cemetery are kind of seemingly enticing them to come drown in it's waters. In the very least it's messing with these guys' mental states! Pretty freakkyyyy! 👀🌊
Also the repeated emphasis on dreams is interesting this episode, wonder if that'll play a part in something later on. 👀👀
"If it’s any consolation, he’s with the sea now. The deep will care for his bones." I literally called it!!
I think Gordon Alan Johnson also wants to be with David. 👀🌊🌊
I think Gordon Alan Johnson also wants to be with David. 👀🌊🌊
I don't know, Gordie, I think you did it! Unless Ink5oul is collecting tattoos like an alternate universe version of the Leitner books. Wait yeah, what if the tattoos are like conduits for the entities of this world or even the original one? 🖌
Another way to look at this is asking... Is The Deep a new entity/fear or is it a servant of a fear like The Vast? I stg there was a colossal water monster at some point in The Magnus Archives!
Okay so yeah, there's already a precedent for this. Also feels like The Lonely, The Buried, The Corruption, The Vast, & maybe even The Flesh are all involved in this one though I don't know if Flesh (Ink5oul) is working with or against the other fears at this time.
Gwen, you can tell your coworkers what's wrong, oh my fucking god. Please. Celia, you have me so invested in whatever is going on with you.
Weird unexplained noise at 17:44 too as Celia enters the office. Wonder what that's all about, maybe it'll come up later on.
"He is one of our Externals." Okay; so, there's more of them & they have their own secret hitman title too!
Mr. Bonzo when he was on TV
"And they usually like it." I bet fear creatures do like it when you scream. That makes a lot of sense actually.
Also what's that weird "boowomp" noise as they're talking or is it just the OST? 👀
Is Gwen going to be turned into something not quite human at some point? Just throwing darts at a board with that speculation, but wouldn't that be wild?
Okay; so, these little digitized noises are absolutely important!
I wonder how many times & when people have lied so far throughout this season. 👁️👁️

Here’s my cover art for The Duke of Artz’ original book called series “The Texan Twins” as this is an Art Request from him. What do you think? ✌️😎
According to Joshua Hartzler aka The Duke of Artz (on Instagram and Twitter), he is developing a book series entitled “The Texan Twins Series” it’s not a Western series “Texan” is just the last name of the two main protagonists.
It’s about twin brothers Alan and Jay Texan who are more intelligent than the average teenager, heroes in the town of Kansas City, Missouri. They are both identical twins but you can easily tell the difference between them. Jay has a tannish birth mark patch on the right side of his eye and Alan doesn’t, they both clean shaven with long brown hair, brown eyes and Alan wears a gold skeleton key necklace. Alan Texan is 6ft 1 and Jay Texan is actually 6ft 3.
They invent scientific technology and weaponry. They also encounter supernatural beings and off planet species and cryptids along their journey. They don’t only encounter but also become investigators in suspicious situations.
That’s what he told me and it sounds like a totally cool indie series he’s creating! I wish him good luck for all the hard work he’s doing as he’s trying his hardest by establishing his own book series in format form! 🍀🤞☺️
Let me know what you guys think about his characters and the plot of the story? I’m looking forward to do more collaborations as a cover artist in the future within my art career while I do my own stuff! Can’t wait! Give me a like ❤️, y’all!
Starting this month on June 1st, with the help of @indecisartistrun, and @mimiciora we did a collaborative colouring book with he children from their community. Everyone filled the page with what they would take with them when they inevitably have to move to space. The book is in the shape of a rocket to help them in thgeur space explorations 🚀
The editorial illustration I made for a rather heartbreaking text written by Alexandra Voivozeanu for AnthroArt. You can read it in full here. I also recommend browsing their articles for more insightful texts and drawings into different social and environmental anthropological issues.
Had to get back to Cluj-Napoca, where I prepared a little book with sketches, ideas and in-process projects for ArtiViStory's exhibition: UNBOXED STORIES - Urban comics with ArtiViStory Collective. The little blue zine takes the shape of a silkworm and is titled: The last sleep in my silk cocoon.
Getting back to Cluj meant that I could finally pick up the drawings I made in collaboration with Anca, that she gracefully left at our old apartment when she passed by. The drawings are an ongoing collaborative project, started by Ana Kun and Covrig (Anca Dima), called Half&Half. Each artist that takes part in it has to make two half-drawings that will be finished by another artist of their choice, both getting to keep one of them at the end.
Got back to Timișoara and drew this along with Ana, as preparation for a bigger project that will have us draw together on a huge piece of paper.
The Balamuc residency got us all together again for a Weidly-shaped-Zine workshop I conducted as part of the 9 public events of the program. Thanks to everyone who attended for your openness ad creativity :o)
Happened to find myself in Bucharest at the end of June, so I had to visit Covrig at her studio, which was the main place in which I hanged out while Gavril was putting up his stunning duo show with Giulia Crețulescu at Ivan Gallery. She was kind enough to let me use her aerograph, here are some drawings I made. While there, Alin from BooksForFriends brought me the riso posters we collaborated on. The prints are made after a digital drawing I made around Easter, printed in three colours on 42x30cm paper. They can still be bought from either me or from BFF's page.
While on a mini Bucharest vacation, I found some time to inaugurate the big, scary A4 sketchbook I've been carrying around for a few months.
Had to rush back to Timișoara to organise my last solo workshop within the Balamuc Make a Wish Residency. Based on a huge map I drew as a kid of places where I'd like to escape to, I created a workshop in which we all work on a collaborative map of recurrent dream locations. Similar to the places that I'd draw on the map when I was 9, this map also includes fantastical places that serve as an escape to the adult world, in our dreams. I posted my contributions.
Thanks to Flo from The Secret Garden, I received the first prints of my speculative gouache book, Who is Adriana?. I made this book during my Erasmus scholarship at Academia de Belle Arti in Bari, trying to explore what could be the identity of Adriana, the name that my neighbour screamed for every night. I never expected this project to gain as much popularity as it got, but the pleasantly good reception gave me the right kind of push to print it in order for people to have their own copy as well.
this is my first try at midi music ive always wanted to so i just started out by trying to make a theme for my oc bog (some relation, its a whole mess i dont have the time) anyways its not perfect but i personally like it alot :]
What really made me get why so many people are into AI is when someone compared it to “idea guys”
Because if you’re an artist of any kind and are public about it in anyway, you’ve probably encountered someone with ideas
Someone who comes to you, saying how they have a great idea for a book/comic/drawing/whatever and they want you to do the writing/drawing and they’ll let you split the profits/credit for their great idea
And I’m not talking about genuine collaborators or people who commission work. I’m talking people who think presenting you with their idea is some kind of blessing and you should do it for free for them because it’ll be good for you.
There is no lack of people like this, who think that the very fact that they have an idea makes them a uniquely creative person. They don’t understand that the ability to think isn’t unique to them and in fact every single person in the world has ideas, just very few people actually put in work to make those ideas into something tangible.
And because they think they’re unique in being able to think, they think ideas is what makes the art, and they don’t see or value the work and processes and skill that’s developed over hundreds of hours.
And honestly it might not be their fault, because the concept of ideas is fetishized. How often do we hear the phrase “it all started with an idea…” when some biopic or documentary is explaining how some big property began. Star Wars, Disney, or whatever is claimed be “one man’s idea” when actually “and hundreds/thousands of people’s work and skill” should be added immediately after that statement.
But idea guys who don’t want to put in the work to actually create their idea don’t see or value the work. It’s just the thing in the way of making their idea a reality. The work is what’s stopping them. They don’t see that the work IS the art. The quality and time it takes to do the job is directly related to how good it turns out.
So now that they can type in a few prompts and get some mediocre version of whatever they’re thinking about, of course they love it. It’s finally something that validates the very premise of having ideas being enough to produce something.

I didnt even like most of em until i saw them in person, but the knowledge that they'll probably never be in the show has my brain in a "well its free realestate" kinda mood
Random list of information cuz ive been plotting out friend dynamics and background lore
-i like to pretend Rainbow High/Shadow High are actually Rainbow University/Shadow University cuz im in art college Right Now and i think it makes more sense with the whole dorm room situation. And also major makes more sense than focus IMO
-I changed Pinkie's major from film to just undeclared. I think she eventually does land on Film. She just has a lot of interests! Her dream has always been to one day direct films, and I think she comes to love them even more while developing ideas her with the group as she winds up in a Director/Producer position for most of them. BUT also every time she takes a class in a different program she cant help but fall in love with that way of making art too. So she has a hard time picking for a while and changed her major a couple times before landing on Film.
-Pinkie and Berrie bond a lot over a shared interest in vocal synths (tho Berrie knows more about them than her).
-The two made Pinkie's vtuber model together!
-the fandom wiki says PJ is from germany?? Idk how canon that is tbh but ive decided to embrace it i guess
-Rooney's canon name is Scarlet Rose, but i thought it was kinda lame especially when Rosie Redwood is also in this line sooo I renamed her! Stuck to the color name puns tho. Mar Rooney. Maroon. Haha
-Speaking on her though i love that shes from texas and likes writing scifi mystery type stuff and that being said i just Know deep in my bones that she was a Voltron Legendary Defender fan and Keith was/is 100% her favorite. She has a continued fondness for mothman specifically cuz of this.
-PJ and Rooney actually talk about fandom and shows/movies ALL the time. They dont have a ton of overlapping interests, but where they do? The two literally never shut up.
-Rosie is such a random character, like outside of her design she feels very poorly considered. So I scrapped the cosmetology thing and made her an illustrator instead! I think it works better with her love of making art in nature. I can see her being really into illustrated guide books. I think shes a bit snooty when it comes to art too. It takes being friends with other artists to become more open minded.
-I like the idea that Rosie is mainly friends with Rooney and Berrie ontop of that. The three of them often tag team storylines and how theyd interpret them into different mediums. Rosie will draw up a bunch of concept stuff while Rooney writes up a pitch bible and Berrie will start making shit move and throwing in her own ideas on camera angles and character designs.
-as an animation major Berrie was required to take a sound design class early on, which is where she met Oliver! Hes very laid back, and likes to go with the flow, but functions a little like the "mom" of the group. Often reminding the girls to take breaks, drink water, stop looking at their screens lest they get eye strain etc. He's multi-talented tbh but Music is his one true passion and he likes how the girls are always giving him collaboration opportunities.
-Oliver and Rosie like to talk sports a lot, both having played a bunch when they were younger and throughout high school.
-Lavender Lynn is Oliver's number one "person who needs constant reminders to settle down" she is in a constant buzz of trying to get the best shots and is utterly obsessed with the process of artistic documentation. Everything must be documented.
-the whole school loves her for this actually, she has a whole side gig where other students hire her to help photograph their projects. She saves everything she earns from this for her future dream plans to visit paris. She has it set really, many of the artists who she helps photograph now will remain steadfast clients of hers forever onward.
-PJ and Lynn actually took a print media class together at one point. Which didnt at the time spark an everlasting friendship. But it did give PJ an easier in to ask for Lynn's help documenting a project the group was working on. One of Lynn's first times photographing them work happened to fall on a day where Rosie had planned to trick everyone into going on a nature walk sans devices... Lynn wound up really appreciating this outing and decided to continue hanging around the group even after that project had ended.
