Did they receive a guide book on how the holiday season is supposed to be celebrated? No.
Did they seek one out?
Also no.
Merry Christmas! 🌟
From the Hateship gang and their rendition of ruining the fun being merry!
(yep, I'm still working on the game)
Haven't done one of these seasonal illustrations in a while, but I thought this time around something goofy was in order~

I've seen people criticise this exchange in light of romance not being canon by this point in the story. And yeah, Lariska's line is a variant on "You say that to all the girls", which is usually used in a flirty context. So some people take it as Lariska interpreting Hakann's reaction as flirty, or even Lariska straight up flirting with Hakann.
There is another explanation that makes more sense in-universe though.
Tumblr media
(From BS01)
If this is the case, then females are likely dominant in Skakdi society and as a result the males are probably socialised to be more respectful or even subservient to females, even of other species. Skakdi probably have a reputation for this, and to someone like Lariska, who might come from a species/culture where gender isn't a big deal, it may come across as quaint or silly.
There's other evidence of this in the other Piraka's interactions with female characters.
There's also Thok complimenting and trying to recruit Hahli:
Tumblr media
Even this exchange between Vezok and Dalu. Vezok isn't nearly as dismissive or mocking of Dalu as the other Piraka are to other Matoran:
Tumblr media
This is probably the sort of advice young female Skakdi are given, and Vezok treats Dalu as though she is more than capable of amassing an army and conquering the island. (He does slam Dalu with an attack and vaguely threaten her after that, yes, but only once she's moved out of close combat range)
There's also this from Vezon...
Tumblr media
Though that might be more to do with Vezon's intermittent self-preservation instincts deciding to kick in... for once.

Yo yo.
The Piraka were always among my favorite Bionicle villains due to sheer force of personality and I’ve had a rough idea of how I’d handle them, but it was Jennifer A. Reuter’s drawings of them that really got me on the right track. The idea I had for them on the whole was “distractingly contemporary for the universe they’re in,” ergo stuff like Hakann’s stogie, Thok’s jacket, and Avak’s toolkit. The major exceptions to this are Reidak and Vezon, and the reasons for that stem from Reidak’s laziness (”why bother planning when I can just bum rush literally anything, I’m indestructible”) and the fact that Vezon was never meant to exist and got by on whatever scraps he could steal leading up to his fateful encounter with the Mask of Life.
Skakdi are super fun and I love drawing them.

I know I've posted about this elsewhere, but I don't remember if I've talked about it here, so stop me if you've heard this one before.
Y'know how Zamor Spheres are all made of clear crystal, and take on the colour of their contents? Hence why the Piraka's spheres are all sickly green, because they're full of Antidermis?
Y'ever think about how, since the Toa Inika's Zamor were filled with Energized Protodermis, canonically speaking they would all be silver instead of red/yellow, blue, and green? Because I think about it a lot.

Your next mission is infiltrating a prestigious rival mob's ball party for their weapon plans and convincing one of your six (or seven?) miserable, monstrous biomech Skakdi colleagues to assist you... or date you while they're at it.
With the boons of a heist always a temptation among outlaws, how well will your new bond with your chosen company last?
Romantic, despicable and delightfully cheeky, Hateship drops you into the palms of a few skeevy, and a few hopelessly messy, disasters for an experience in navigating their dramatic attitudes… or make them worse.
Hateship is a DEMO release of a dating sim noir rendition of the biomechanical monsters from Bionicle (you don't need to know a lick of the setting to play it. You just gotta love lizard-men and the aesthetic.)
Play the Demo!

Strangely having your soul shattered and interred in your Bionicles after the second pill isn't listed as a side effect. Waging an endless battle with no sides over the bottle on this busted typewriter now.
Observe how Vezok and Vezon face off in their awesome hate for eachother, notice Roodaka's Boggarak sneaking under Kardas to suprise Gorast. See how Vakama spotted the beast and is doing a badass slide so he can blast it square in the mouth. Check out Matoro about to smite the battered Reidak who's laying back exposed on the keys. Spot Hakann sneakily preparing to shoot his lava launcher into Vezok's back, and then see Takadox about to backstab the backstabber. War really is hell :]

So remember that Zamor sphere pack that came with (at the time) exclusive gold, silver, and gunmetal colors? Since this is Bionicle, there’s actual lore for these exclusive Zamors and the powers they possess! Gunmetal causes a target to be tracked via an energy pulse they give off, and silver binds the target to the nearest living being with an energy chain (Interesting how they’re both centered around capturing people)! These powers were listed only in the Bionicle Encyclopedia and have no known canon usage/wielders. By contrast, we did see an instance of a golden Zamor in the story; The one used by Hewkii to transfer Brutaka’s power back from Hakann and Thok. So Greg applied that to these golden Zamors as well by making them the same type.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, there’s no lore for the blue-green Sea Squids exclusive to this pack they were sold in; I guess the species just comes in different colors the same way animals do? I remember actually adapting this difference into my Bionicle RaE fanon for G2, explaining the color comes from absorbing a specific type of energy that they can now use, kinda like the Creeps from the Deep commercial (canonically a vision Dekar received from the Ignika) having a Sea Squid glow from lightstone energy Ehlek drained… Did anyone actually buy/use this pack, especially with how unpopular the squid launcher was as a gimmick? I want to see the color paired with a set like Takadox or Nocturn.

Returned to my Pohatu Nuva design from that picture of him fighting Hakann.
Picking up a little sketch book was a great idea as I'm drawing something far more regularly.
