A while ago I saw a post that started out wishing Lilith's aroace identity got addressed onscreen, and I was like "yeah I totally agree, a voice acted stream reveal is many steps above 'some writer tweeting it after the show ends' but it would've still been far more exuberant and impactful to see it in the show." But then OP continued by saying there's nothing in Lilith's arc that reflects aromantic experiences, and look, I'm biased as the Lilith icon person, but like. Your experiences are not universal.
And... that's okay! My experiences aren't universal either. But as an aroace, I do have to say: Lilith does reflects one type of aroace experience, and that's the chronically ill aroace experience in particular.
It's the way that she's an adult who needs care from others, but first moves back in with her sister, and then moves back in with her parents, instead of moving in with or seeking out a romantic partner.
It's the way she grapples with independence and individualism, struggling to unravel "what she wants" from "what she needs in terms of support" and from "what society revolving around the Emperor's Coven has tricked her into conflating with self-worth".
It's the way she looks at her reflection and asks: "Am I broken?"
Not all aroaces are disabled and chronically ill. Not all aroaces have (or want) intense platonic friendships or close sibling relationships, and not are able to heal from trauma by living with their family. These are all arguments for more variety in aroace representation, to say nothing of a-spec representation as a whole — that just doesn't mean aroace characters with these traits don't represent anyone.
And this is also a chance to touch on a distinction that I feel isn't drawn often enough when talking about queer subtext of any form: I don't think Lilith, if you're only looking at the show itself, is a strongly or undeniably aroace-coded character. But she's absolutely a character whose arc is enhanced upon learning that she's aroace.
So don't get me wrong: I would like more than this. Lilith is like a baby step in terms of a-spec representation in animation — a meaningful step, but a small one. But for a series where each season except the first was heavily impacted (read: compressed) by the cancellation, and the unaffected first season was also the only one Lilith spent as an extremely polarizing villain, you can see how the crew could've gone in with extremely conscientious intentions and wound up having to make a tough call, right?
I don't even necessarily think they made the right call, I'm just willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they tried. It feels like they put more than just some performative 30 seconds of thought into imagining how a disabled aroace with serious self-worth issues would interact with the world and improve herself — or, at least realized after some experience writing Lilith that being aroace fit her, and let that inform much of her Season 2 arc.
Like, maybe I'm personally extra desperate for disabled a-specs in media, but honestly? Lilith is a well-written one in all aspects but the lack of an onscreen "I've never felt attraction to someone" — and you don't have to agree with me, but I'll die on the hill that that all counts for something.
No hate to OP — if you know what post I'm vagueing about, be chill and normal about it, please. It's fine for some people not to feel represented, and put their thoughts out there — but it also seems that I, as a person who feels very represented, should put out some of my own thoughts for balance.

because @ca-suffit is too chicken to put up my ask that I sent off anon I’ll post this here. I am not okay with people hiding behind supposedly good deeds like defending the poc or lgbtqia community to bully others.
i don’t mind putting my name here to make some points and not hide. and yeah I blocked you ahead of time because I know people like you thrive on drama and I’m not going to be a part of that. this will be a one and done. and tbh you really have already put your foot in your mouth so many times on your responses that to anyone relatively sane you look completely out of control.
i don’t know where the racism you are alleging to is coming from but there’s many instances in elisaintime videos that address this topic and she did so very kindly and level headedly when she responded back to you here. You obviously have not watched anything of hers
but I’ll say what everyone is thinking seeing this back and forth today (and as someone rarely on this app I can’t believe I had to see this when I came here to just vibe). you seem to be incredibly jealous of elisaintime. and before you retort there’s no way you could POSSIBLY be jealous, yes you are. dig deep in there and admit to yourself, you don’t have to admit it to anyone else but yourself so you can deal with your own emotions fully. These kind of delusional statements made on nothing but your opinion rather than facts (we have yet to see your receipts you supposedly have) is indicative of someone who is extremely insecure and quite honestly just plainly put a bully because you can’t have what you want. yep you are a bully what people in this fandom hate. You aren’t stopping any racism or making the poc community any more safe by instigating fights and making claims that have no basis for fact. It degrades the works the fandom has done to point out the problems and actually sweep out the real racists.
now away from that garbage fire and onto the other issue. AMC needs to be held responsible if you really thinking they are only inviting white people (that wouldn’t be elisaintime fault it would be solely on amc). But I doubt you actually believe what you’re saying here because if you did the easiest way to hold a company responsible is unengaging with them. Sure send them emails about their problematic racism instead of emails that honestly makes you look like some unhinged mega fan just starting tumblr drama. make them realize that the fandom holds power and don’t support that and they will lose engagement and money real fast and clean up their act and apologize. Simple. But again you aren’t going to do that because you don’t actually believe what you’re saying. Boycotting has worked wonders to get a message out by the people in the past for many things currently happening in the world. But I doubt you actually care enough to boycott amc right now because that means your show would suffer.
The real issue is this. You hate the idea of someone who might even remotely dislikes or criticizes the show getting something you didn’t get. we are all thinking it. Jealousy is normal response but it’s how you react to it that lets people know how you really are. It is not a good look for you or show fans or pocs. You are afraid of one influencers opinion that isn’t raving is going to hurt ratings. Reality check any publicity is good publicity that’s showbiz which seems like you greatly misunderstand. A variety of reviews makes things realistic. things aren’t black and white good or bad you love or you hate there’s middle ground. the show will be okay you don’t have to defend it like this in such a brash and rude way that has nothing to stand on except your opinion of some YouTube influencer. If you really think your thing is any good then it doesn’t have to be protected and sheltered.
I have so many things to say but I think that’s plenty for you to stomach. I would rarely do this, but I was so shocked to see the spite that I had to write something. wishing you the best, truly. Please get some therapy.
*
If my message isn’t getting posted then you know there’s others that aren’t being posted. Curating your experience something something.
@elisaintime I dont want to even entertain replying to “the thread” but I want to let you know this was completely uncalled for by this person. I am so sorry that the fandom continues to thrive on made up stories and drama to somehow try to feel superior to others. We can all enjoy media in our own way. There are normal people here who genuinely watch your videos and appreciate what you’ve done within the vampire community to not interact with bullies and racists and bigots. I’ve seen you support black and brown influencers for years.
and for those of you who just don’t want the drama on your timeline I understand not wanting to reblog or like! Still respect you!

Just curious, what do you think of Fizzarolli from Helliva Boss??
Whoa boy, this'll be long, bear with me
I'll be honest-
I like him.
He's very charming and funny
Love the prosthetics
The writing for him has been off lately, one of the very least he hasn't been butchered like everyone else. He's still very charming and funny, and well it confused me at first, I do now find his Dynamic with Ozzy to be very Charming. To be honest, they're kind of the only reasons I hold out even a tiny sliver of Hope for the show. The rest of the show has become very aggravating but whenever those two were on screen at the very least I'm entertained
Having said that-
His outfits are terrible
He deserves better than... This
This outfit especially
Tumblr media
The colors clash and are strange. Very unflattering, especially for a character as Charming as him.
And I will admit, I'm a little biased because I am an Alex Brightman fan, I think he's very funny and very talented
His dynamic with Mammon feels off.
Maybe it's because he's the only one of the seven deadly sins who actually acts like the seven deadly sins, or maybe it's because Mammon looks like a Christmas tree
Tumblr media
Or it might feel off because.. it feels like he shouldn't be that intimidated by Mammon when he's got Asmodeus right there. I don't mind the idea of Mammon being a jester, because if I remember correctly, one of his many nicknames was the "Lord of fools"
And I don't necessarily hate his voice either. I'm not sure if it matches him or not. I'm still on the fence about it, but the voice itself is all right.
I feel like Fizz could have had a very interesting Dynamic with Mammon, especially if the whole "Mammon's the reason he became successful and met the love of his life" is what they're going for. But I feel like it gets ruined by making Mammon such a caricature. There's no subtlety.
If Mammon really views Fizz as an ungrateful brat that he gave everything to, I feel like that should be explored.
Getting back on track. While I like Fizz, I'd argue he's probably my favorite character, I have an issue with him. Or rather, how the show treats him
Maybe it's just because I'm asexual, so when things are overly sexual I tend to be less interested, but I'm really tired of just how much are the cast is hypersexualized 24/7
Almost every character that is significant to Blitzo's story (other than his relatives, thankfully) seems to have to be a sexual or romantic interest at some point.
Stolas, Verosika, Fizzarolli, Striker, Chaz, Moxxie and Millie, Dennis, etc,
Don't get me wrong, the idea of a character using sex as a tool to get what they want is interesting. And is not necessarily bad. Even if it was against my preference, I can see potential in it.
But it seems like the majority of the queer characters are either mocked or hypersexualized. (I'll give Ozzy a pass, since he is the embodiment of Lust)
Moxxie is a punching bag, Blitzo, Stolas, Fizz, Striker (in the harvest moon festival), Chaz is basically nothing but a sentiant libido, Glitz and Glam, Verosika, etc.
It's just dissapointing how it's lacking variety.
Fizz himself is great, I like him a lot.
Originally for my redesign/reimagine project, I wasn't going to do the seven deadly sins but I might have to do Asmodeus and Mammon since they are so entwined with fizz story-wise.
Also because their designs drive me up the wall, but I'll talk about that more in their posts
Long story long, Fizz is the best character in the show to me.
For the record, if any of you like the show as it is, great! I wish I could, I really do, but I just can't enjoy it as much as I want to. And yeah, reimagining the show has been really fun! I'm not entirely sure why, but it is. Maybe it's just a good creative exercise
At the end of the day, these are just my opinions, I'm sure all of you have your own reasons for liking or disliking it, my word is not law. Feel however you feel, and I will feel what I feel.
Tumblr media
And all right, I confess, these two are cute.

I logged onto Twitter for literally 5 seconds and immediately saw people harassing a community director for something called the MAG Festival, which I gather is a video game convention of some variety, who made this joke banner for their event:
Tumblr media
Game industry folks, of course, lost their minds and they had to backpedal (frustrating, but I get it).
Anyways, funny joke. Wish the games industry wasn’t so toxic and unwelcoming. Even if you genuinely believe GG was a toxic movement, it boggles the mind how anyone thinks harassing community managers for...*checks notes*...a dumb joke you can either choose to laugh at or roll your eyes and ignore, is better.
Unrelated side-note: Can we just talk about how fucked social media is in it’s current state? Like just the overall design of how interactivity between users works, and how all of them are explicitly designed to feed into this industry of hate and overall negativity?
Think about it: you see a joke on Twitter and, assuming you HAVE to respond to it one way or another as that’s what’s asked of you by nature of you using social media, you’re really only given two options:
Either you enjoyed the tweet, found it humorous, so you’ll indicate that enjoyment simply by clicking the little heart icon to increase the little number next to it that indicates how many other people enjoyed it, and then you’ll  promptly move on.
Or, you disliked the tweet, perhaps it even upset you in some capacity, so you’ll indicate that displeasure by writing a 280-character (or h/e long Tweets are these days idfk) comment on how the joke “wasn’t funny” and perhaps even that the tweeter is “a bad person” for making it.
Now when the next person comes across that same tweet, which do you think they’ll see first, the single spot where it indicates that 10k people liked the post, or the seemingly-bottomless deluge of comments from 1k people expressing their negative response to the joke? More than likely their eyes will be drawn to the comments before the likes.
Now I know what you might be thinking: “Well, what’s to stop someone from commenting on the tweet to indicate that they liked the joke?” And you’re not wrong, except that the algorithm on most social media sites values the engagement from those negative comments higher than the engagement on those positive comment. Remember, even if every 100th person who liked the tweet posted a comment saying as much, the other 99 are still just scrolling by the post once they’ve liked it. They aren’t sticking around to like other positive comments. You know who are liking comments though? The ones already sticking around to comment their displeasure of the tweet.
So yeah, the TL;DR here is that social media, as are sadly most websites these days, are actively trying to not only piss you off, but to keep you essentially towing the line, so-to-speak. Don’t post anything too subversive or the algorithm will convince hundreds, if not thousands of people to harass you off the platform, if not worse.

Different Universes of Energy
After the multiple times of collecting energy being a goal/plot point in various Transformers media, I couldn't help but write this. A list that involves different energy sources from different fandom universes. The ones I'll be choosing are either very plentiful or have a large variety.
Marioverse
Tumblr media
Oh yeah. We're starting with the series that has a clusterfuck of magical items. Mario practically beats everything on this little list from how many alternate power sources any Transformer can gather. Cat Shines from Lake Lapcat, Shine Sprites of Del Defino, Power Stars to Grand Stars found across the stars and the latest Power Moons scattered all over the world.
I ain't forgetting about the spinoff games either which has their own flavor for powerful collectibles. These are also the easiest to attain since there are many ways to acquire them. You can find one out in the wild, purchase from a store(Power Moons), win through competitions, etc.
Team Autobots wouldn't have much trouble following these rules. In fact, it's probably a fun break from the usual hardships as scavenging in the midst of a war is difficult. Getting coins is easy since coin blocks are common to find and some bots such as Bumblebee would find the games fun.
The Decepticons would have to follow things by the Marioverse rules though. I ain't joking either as there are many ways for inhabitants to send them packing. Powerups especially the Mini Mushroom, Mega Mushroom, Giga Catbell and Super Star.
One little Mini 'Shroom is enough to shrink Megatron to the size of a guinea pig then shove his ass into a cage. A bloke can become a giant through the Mega Mushroom or gargantuan sphinx via Giga Catbell and yeet Starscream across the kingdom. Can't forget the Super Star's invinciblity as Decepticons drop like flies thanks to pure rainbow power.
Every bit of technology in this universe is more advanced but also sometimes mystical. There's literally a vacuum cleaner capable of sucking up ghosts, go-carts that can ignore the laws of gravity, actual magic, to even stars that can grant wishes.
There's also the kingdoms who won't take invaders too kindly either. Bowser definitely gonna declare war and he's got a wide array of technology to pack a nasty punch. The Koopa King is quite a threat when you look at the spinoffs such as the RPGs. Plus he has teamed up with Mario multiple times should the need arise.
Speaking of the plumber, he definitely get involved alongside his friends. The Mario and Luigi RPGs to even Mario + Rabbids shows he can do more than just jump. Latter series literally gave him a gun which later got upgraded to dual blasters.
Best play nice or get your ass kicked by someone no bigger than your little toe.
Knackverse
Tumblr media
Next up is the PS4 launch title series, Knack! There are two different types of energy sources that are very very abundant: relics and sunstones. Everything technological in this universe are powered by either one or both sources.
Sunstones are crystalized sunlight that can be found about everywhere. Caves, mountains, grass plains, and even in someone's backyard. They are often used to generate electricity whether through generators, electrical plants or even lamp posts.
Now relics are a bit harder to find. These can be found underground or in ancient structures so mining might be required. Relics produce relic energy which is often used to power vehicles, generators, weapons, etc.
Everything can be obtained without messing with the locals. Although either faction might have to go through a scrapheap to see how relics are used to generate power. They definitely be a bit confused for awhile as these ancient artifacts are essentially spun around akin to a hamster wheel.
Decepticons will have some very painful retaliation if they try to steal relics and sunstones from the populace. The Crystal Wars is proof that humans here act like space orcs but also still do. Ryder and Doctor Vargas literally threw hands with goblins the size of them. The same goes for the latter.
I don't think goblins would be too pleased with otherworldly invaders taking their resources either. Advancement in technology can also prove these aren't people to mess with. Airships are more common, vehicles don't drive on tires, there are tanks that can create forcefields and fire lasers.
Ancient goblin weaponry have been rebuilt. Every one remains a force to be reckoned with. Cannot forget about the people's protector: Knack. He has fought a lot of mechanical foes in various sizes(for both parties).
Decepticons will be fighting on his turf and that's a huge disadvantage on its own. Super Sunstones to grant temporary invinciblity, the Ultimate Move which can destroy barriers/forcefields, super moves that range from solar lightsabers to even a relic tornado. Knack is a crafty motherfucker and can pummel any Cybertronian who dares disturb the peace.
I'm pretty sure a relic haymaker to the faceplate will be hard to dent out.
JNDverse
Tumblr media
Last but not least, we have Eco from the Jak and Daxter series. The closest in comparison to Cybertron's Energon from their respective origins but also diversity. Each has different unique properties depending on the color. Their origin being from a long lost civilization/creators now cascaded in mystery.
Eco is very abundant and manifests all over the world. The main source being Eco Vents which constantly spurts it out in a gaseous form. Large liquid pools can also be found but it's highly likely that its Dark Eco, the most corruptive of all types.
Crystals are another way to gather it so mining will be required. Even various wildlife drop eco upon death but not much. There are many ways to gather the stuff without stirring a fuss.
Huge advancements in technology is very common as the most common transport are hovercraft style vehicles like zoomers. Dune buggies are utilized in the deserts with some being capable of jumping large gaps or bust down fortresses from sheer firepower. Eco can also power weaponry.
Weapons powered by this natural energy can have all sorts of abilities that depends on the color. Short range shockwaves, gravity inverters, ricocheting bullets, etc. They don't lack on firepower especially if one has a Morphgun which can use all Eco types by switching cartridges.
Now the Decepticons will face retaliation by disturbing the peace but here it varies. Some cities such as Haven have too many civilians and incompetent military forces to properly protect themselves. *Looks at all the missions alongside lack of self defending NPCs in Haven*
Areas such as Spargus will retaliate immediately since EVERYONE has been trained to fight and is armed. It makes sense because most of the city's population are people exiled to the wastelands by Haven. Can't forget about the Demolition Duo.
Jak and his companion has tackled a variety of opponents including giant robots. The latter were made with Precursor metal which is very hard to break through and probably more durable than Cybertronian metal. Both had wrecked it.
Jak has a variety of Eco cartridges for his Morphgun but can also rely on his Eco Channeling abilities. He can transform into powerful forms through Light and Dark Eco. The destructive animalistic Dark Jak or the angelic time stopping Light Jak.
It's best to be wary unless you want a Dark Eco blast through the spark chamber.
That's it for now! Until next time folks, I'll see you later! Transform and Roll Out!

Hey hey G/t community. Today I'm in a writing mood, so let's get going with the second post of the world building. I will create a master list in the future to make it easy to find what you're looking for.
I want to focus on the vast anatomical differences between a human and a Norman(Giant)
*Lungs: Their complex lungs allows them to hold more air, increasing their lung capacity tremendously.
*Eye sight: They can see in the dark and can focus their eyes on smaller things.
*Blood: Normen are blue-blooded creatures. Blue vs Red blooded creatures will be a very important part of this universe. Blue blooded creatures all have similar anatomies. Unlike red blooded creatures, Blue blooded creatures rot almost immediately after death making Blue blooded creatures unable to be consumed safely. Blue blooded creatures can only survive from eating red blooded creatures.
Their blood is also thicker and richer which makes blue blooded creatures able to withstand colder temperatures.
*They have denser and stronger bones that is able to support their larger bodies.
*Vocal chords: They have powerful vocal chords that can make sounds that humans could never mimic. They can communicate in lower frequencies and over longer distances. They are also able to talk much softer which allows them to communicate with humans.
*Body temperature: They are able to cool down and heat up as they wish, making them able to withstand any weather.
Finally, let's get to the very complex digestive system of a Norman. This may vary depending in which world of the universe the story takes place in but will mostly always be the same.
Digestive system: They are able to process a greater variety of foods. In fact, their diet mostly consists of raw meat. Because of their sharper teeth, they can chew through bone and skin with ease. They have different stomach for liquids and solids.
Unlike humans, they only have to eat twice a day, but they need to consume food every 12 hours in order to live a healthy life and can not go long periods without food. They often do eat about three or four meals a day but they only need two to survive.
They can store food in their stomach for up to 12 hours before their stomach automatically digests the food. The storing process helps them to hunt for food without going hungry.
If they eat food when they have gone 10-12 hours without food, it automatically digests it.
And yeah, that's it for the anatomy. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks for reading. Next time, we will get to culture and religion, which will be very lore heavy.

I'm sorry if this comes off weird, but I wanted to ask why you seem to not want to know about Can't Fear Your Own World? Do you dislike it, or it's nature as a post-series work?
So I've read a couple of the light novels and they simply do not spark joy. The plots sort of wander around, the characterization has very little to say, and they are full of what I'll call "lore dumps", where there will be a paragraph of exposition that's not integrated into the story in any sort of natural way and is frequently of the "thanks, I hate it" variety. Even though they may be "Kubo approved", or include stuff that he came up with, they completely lack his storytelling skill or the charm of his character voices. There are usually about 3-5 bits that I find charming per light novel, and about five to ten times as many that I find aggravating or off-putting (or just plain tedious or boring).
I think that a big part of it for me is that I read a lot of fanfiction and while there is an awful lot of mediocre fanfic, I have also read a lot of brilliant stories written by people who have given a ton of thought to the characters and the worldbuilding and out-of-canon adventures that these characters might go on. To me, the light novels I have read feel like finding a story on AO3 that has all my favorite tags and a cool story description, and then it turns out that I absolutely hate the writing style and direction. It feels like adding insult to injury that on top of that, I am somehow obligated to consider them canon.
To address CFYOW specifically, it does not contain any of the characters I care about. I mean, I like Shuuhei, but what I like about Shuuhei is his relationship with Izuru, Momo, and Renji. I like his job at the Seireitei Communication. I like his guitar playing and boring cooking and the goofy outfits he wears in splash pages. I could not care less about him getting bankai. I've said this before, but I would like relatively very few characters to get bankai, and he is not on my shortlist. It feels very shoehorned to me.
The plot sounds convoluted and tedious as hell. I already found the Fullbringers tedious enough when I had to read about them in the manga, I do not want to spend one more minute of my life thinking about Fullbringers.
Tokinada seems mildly interesting, but I'm pretty sure I got as much as I care to know about him from reading thru some BBS screenshots.
I hate literally every piece of Soul King-related lore I have heard come out of CFYOW. It makes me literally enjoy Bleach less.
I read a fan translation of the first couple of chapters when they came out and it barely kept my attention. I briefly considered that maybe the professional translation might be a little more readable (I say this with all love and respect for the translation I read, which was trying to keep it very close to the original), but then I have heard that Viz butchered the translation, so I feel like there's no winning there.
It's just not for me. If it were a fanfiction, I would look at the tags and description and simply keep scrolling. I wish peace and love on planet Earth to everyone who enjoyed it and any of the other light novels, but it's not something I wish to spend my time and energy on. There are so many parts and pieces of Bleach--the manga, the anime, the movies, the filler arcs, the novels, databooks, random facts Kubo spills in interviews, fanworks, etc, and I've always been of the opinion that as fans, we all have the right to pick and choose which ones we want to consume and what we want to include in our own personal canons. Further, because CFYOW is post-canon, it literally affects nothing if I ignore it. Yeah, there are a few interesting crumbs in there, like the stuff about Ikkaku and his sister and I think there's an off-hand mention of the Six Hearts gang going to the beach, but it's simply not worth it to me to read through over a thousand pages of something that I am otherwise just not interested in.

For all the beats that The Beetle has with Dracula, one thing that it never touches at all is the variety of how people feel towards the common enemy.
-Mina is a complex case, she declares she feels no mercy for Dracula at first due to what he did to Lucy, then after she gets the same affliction from him she feels pity despite how relentlessly she hunts him down, and then relief from seeing his humanity at peace upon death.
-Van Helsing at first gives the impression of being clinical, but from reading his own account at the end we see that he feels that killing a vampire is to him just as horrifying and violating as murdering a human person. Despite how much they had tried to kill him and Mina.
-Serward sees vampirism as a terminal illness to be eliminated. Euthanasia is a comforting word.
-Jonathan hates all vampires' guts throughout, they're devils who belong in Hell. Except if the vampire Mina. Then he'll become one himself.
In The Beetle the variety towards the enemy is
-Everyone: Bugs and Arabs are evil
-Robert: THE BEETLE!!!
Yeah, that's an excellent point! In Dracula, there is a lot of variety to the characters's - actually, you could stop the sentence there, even. Every character is distinct, and while their goals all firmly align, there is definitely nuance to how they view the situation and thus to their thoughts about the villain. Meanwhile in The Beetle, there just isn't that level of nuance anywhere, but especially in regards to Theb in particular.
I think I've mentioned this before, but it's really hard to care too much about most of Marsh's characters because at the core they all seem to hold the same awful values as him. There isn't even anything really interesting done with contrasting different values or opinions... unless you count Marjorie's whole "I am a strong, independent woman! *gets kidnapped*" thing, which is clearly proving how wrong she is to the readers. Or Percy being more 'meek' and willing to wish Marjorie happiness with Paul - that was clearly set up for us to join in with Sydney at scoffing/laughing at him not being much of a man. Even when it would make more sense for a character to believe something different, or to express something in a different way, it usually doesn't happen. It's why I'm really glad we never got any real Paul Lessingham POV (though he still hurt his own image a lot with some of the things he said later on), or The Beetle for that matter. Not to point to the sexyman contest, but it's true that the less we hear from them directly, the more likeable the characters tend to be.
Marsh doesn't really go in for unique character voices, either. I wrote a post midway through Dracula Daily last year, but the search section is terrible and I can't find it right now. Anyway though, not only does each character think and act differently, but they write differently too. They focus on different things, describe stuff in different ways, the amount and for what purpose they write all inform their characters. To some extent that isn't possible in The Beetle given we don't get to see things like letters to different people and such, but even in this 'deposition' style first-person it should be more distinct. Honestly, the one POV character who stands out the most is Sydney, whose narrative is at least somewhat distinct. The other three though, don't really have unique 'voices' in the same way. In-universe, Holt's story is written up from what people remember him telling them after his death, so it makes a bit of sense, but it's still just so much more boring to read, honestly. I like my characters to be more distinct!

Rural people are some of the most overlooked when it comes to leftist politics and discussions.
I live in the city now. I had to get away because of a variety of reasons. But I grew up in the middle of nowhere in Montana. I lived with farmers, I raised chickens and lambs, I went out hunting with my dad in the fall. You had to drive for an hour if you wanted to get to a Walmart. I considered anything with a population larger than the 800 people who made up my town The City. When I saw Los Angeles from the air as a teenager, I couldn’t wrap my brain around the idea of so many people living in one place. I’ve been living in an actual city for a few months now and I’m still adjusting to not having to constantly scan the sides of the road at night in case deer come jumping out at you.
I rarely see rural areas mentioned in political posts, and if they are it’s usually just “friendly reminder that marginalized people live in rural areas too and we can’t just wish we could delete them from existence!”
Yes, rural areas tend to be more conservative. The last thing I saw when I left the tiny town I grew up in for the last time was a gigantic stand of Trump merch. Yes, there are still queer people and disabled people and people of color in rural areas. But even if they all moved away and they were made up of just conservative cishet white people, they are still people and they would still deserve rights. They would still deserve everything that we’re fighting for and that they tend to fight against. The thing about rights is that you can’t just take them away from one group of people without risking taking them away from everyone.
Besides that, I think rural areas tend to skew more conservative partially because liberals and leftists tend to be in the city. They don’t understand how life works out here and their ideas and politics just completely overlook us. Electric cars to reduce pollution? Completely impractical in a place where you have to drive for at least an hour to get anywhere and in winter it gets too cold for electric cars to function. You can keep a can of gas in the back of the car. You can’t keep a can of electricity. Gun control? No guns allowed anywhere? We need guns. I’m serious, we need guns. There’s meat on a deer that can feed your family for months. And yeah, we need guns for protection. Not just from the hypothetical burglar but from the fucking wildlife. Sometimes there’s bears up your street. Sometimes there’s a skunk eating your chickens in the middle of the night. Sometimes you wake up and ten of your chickens are gone at once because of a mountain lion. Wildlife is dangerous and you need a gun. Increase the minimum wage? The idea that if a business can’t pay everyone $15/hr then they don’t deserve to be in business? That’s great in the city. It gets a bit different when you own a small bakery in a town of 800 people.
I am begging people to actually listen to rural people about their experiences and not just write us all off as dumb uneducated hicks and rednecks. We’re here. Our voices matter. Not everyone is in Seattle or New York or LA or Chicago. We’re here and we have our own unique struggles and people need to actually fucking listen to us about them.
Also rural queers I am kissing you on the mouth I love you so much. I had to get out but you gave me so much hope when I was there. I’m never going to forget going to my first Pride in Montana and just how huge it was and almost crying at the amount of us who were here, despite everything I’d ever heard. I wasn’t alone. There were so many of us, even in a state that felt like it was trying to kill us.

20 Questions For Fic Writers
thank you for the tag @remyfire - if any of my writer friends want to play too, please feel free, i am shy abt tagging people but ily all
How many works do you have on Ao3?
116
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
1,045,864
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, MASH. Though I did do a short LotR piece at the beginning of this year.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Oh they're all older ones. The top two are Data/Geordi fics! Then a Kirk/Spock/McCoy, A Garak/Bashir, and an IT Crowd poly fic.
5. Do you respond to comments?
If I understand them (I think I get bot ones sometimes bc they don't make sense). I figure I can never go wrong with thanking someone for their time reading.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
If this means 'saddest' then it's certainly Hearts On Paper which I found fascinating to write and will still re-read when I need a good cry.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think most of my fics end happily or at least optimistically? I love ending with a big party or wedding or something like that. I have several that way.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not in many years. And to be fair I was like 12 and did not know how to spell, but I do remember some of those unkind comments still yeah :(
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Sometimes. I used to write kink and then had a breakdown over it (I am still proud of what I wrote it just was not a sustainable thing for my OCD, is all) but now I write what I would describe as Fussy Sex. Literally the more compromising and special considerations made from one partner to another makes me so happy. Or solo sex acts, I have enjoyed writing those this year and that's new for me.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I don't think I've ever written one. I get very stuck in the rules of whatever universe I'm working in and it's hard for me to follow two sets of rules at once.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, I have, and was greatly honored! It was an older smut fic, quite dark themes, and a reader approached me and asked if they could translate it into Russian and I thought that was so amazingly cool. I'll go find the link if anyone is curious.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Most recently, The Famous 4077 Dog Tag Party :) we picked pairings randomly and each did a chapter.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I cannot possibly pick just one. Every ship that appeals to me does so at a different time and for a different reason, and the journey they take me on is always emotional and much appreciated in hindsight. My little fictional couples or their families are my family.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oughhh presently I'm not sure if I have the right approach to finish Dull Instruments which is a shame because I really want to and I hate to start posting things I won't finish. But it feels awkward to me so I may not do it.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I like my character voices.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I try to give each piece its own style on a sliding scale of casual-formal but I wish I had more variety in like POV and stuff. Branching out into present tense this year has been nice.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I do write dialogue in American Sign Language sometimes. Because I am fluent in it. If I'm not fluent in a language I won't write a lot of it, maybe a few words here and there for the POV character to try and pick up, assuming they understand as little of it as I do.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Truly can't remember if High School Musical or 24 was first. The range, I know.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I don't know if I could choose! Sorry to give a lot of boring wishywashy answers but like. Whatever I'm writing is important to me at the moment I'm writing me, it's helping me get through something that may or may not be clear in the themes, and I am grateful to all of the stories I've written for letting me spend time with them. I've been working on some kind of fic almost daily for going on 15 years now, it's how I experience emotions and all the things in the world I'll never be able to do firsthand. It's how I have conversations I'm too shy to otherwise, it's how I see old friends, it's how I learn more about topics I never did in school. Fic is so dear to me, every word.

Hinged Essay Writing Method
@catching-fire-in-the-wind asked for un/hinged essay writing methods and got the utilitarian version that should be used if you need to finish an essay Right Now but this is the fun rambly meandering anecdotal full backstory version
In terms of objective quantity of insanity I don't know anything that comes close to purposeful sleep trancing, but to be fair I also don't know anybody else nearly as insane as the guy who does them.
In terms of writing methods that are objectively similarly a bad idea and damaging to your long term health...  I knew somebody who used to drink heavily to get essay's written?  They are not doing this anymore, and are a year and a half sober, they’re doing very well and I’m very proud of them but yeah, would not recommend.
like, I wish it could go without saying but DO NOT TRY DRINKING AS AN ESSAY WRITING METHOD.
Nobody tells you the consequence of having your insane essay method writing story passed around tumblr is that all of the notes will exclusively be people talking about how they have done exactly that or, that they now plan to try it, which means you are responsible.  I very much wanted to set up a sign begging for no please don’t do this or like.  A charity collection plate for more hinged essay writing methods.
Anyway, this isn't an insane essay method, just one that makes me insane.
Many a years ago I was on a walk with my mom.  This was so long ago that we were walking together by choice and not because all of her other running buddies were on the other side of a quarantine bubble.
My mom is a pretty cool and smart lady who knows me fairly well but she did not need to be any of those things to notice that I will talk like its the only use for oxygen sometimes and that despite being an opinionated person who speaks not in sentences but in novels and paragraphs, I have a strangely hard time getting anything fucking done when it comes to essays.
So she wanted me to try something new.  There was this nifty little article that had come across her feed when she was up in the early morning taking time to herself and I was in bed continuing my best impression of a corpse for the next four hours.  The article was about the improvement to google's speech to text technology.
My mom proposed that as someone who spoke very much and managed to write very little, I might benefit from this magical technology that would take the thing I had a surplus of and turn it into a thing that, you know, I actually wanted and was useful, like taking weeds in animal crossing and using the crafting mechanic to turn them into a variety of delightful little woven hats, which my mom would be doing a lot of when quarantine hit.
I presumably recognized the wisdom of this sick gamer strat and the love and care with which it was constructed, and told her it was a great idea and I would do it immediately the next time I wanted to write.
I then did not do that.
Mulitple years and one (1) global health crisis later I was fucking around on tumblr and saw a long post being passed around in early early early preparation for National Novel Writing month, part of which suggested using voice notes.
Huh, I thought to myself, reblogging it to save for later, I should do that.
I then also did not do that.
A month later my partner was having trouble with an assignment.  My partner is, if it's even possible, an even bigger talker than me.  They also are a far more adept researcher, and so had quite a bit to say, both about the cool things they had found out for the assignment and also what utter shit the extremely vague prompt was.
In addition to shitty course infrastructure, my partner is majorly dyslexic and adhd and so uh imagine the worst time you could have in school they've done that and also this assignment and course in general was tempting them to consider going back to their old way of solving this problem: drinking.
So I was having them talk to me about it, as the designated English major of the relationship, and taking notes hoping to turn it into an outline they could use when I was struck like lightning by an idea so insane it just might work.
I was like haha this is so crazy my mom has this cool little trick we should totally try it do you have a speech to text voice app on your phone.
They did.
I was like haha it's so unfortunate I just really don't understand your second source, and I've like totally forgotten it even though you just told me, could you maybe.... explain it again in its entirety into the microphone?
They explained it into the microphone
I was like wow, I think I understand now.  But didn't you relate it to that other piece of evidence?  How does that work, and also what was that piece of evidence
They talk about that other piece of evidence, and how the two different sources interrelate and work.
It should be known that I am acting my heart out here.  I have no poker face to speak of, being an expressive person and terrified of poker, but I am hauling out my best bimbo impression and gunning it for an oscar.
Anyway I was like oh cool now what if you tried copy pasting that into your document as a rough draft and then editing it into an essay.
And at that point they looked at me and were like. Wait.
I immediately reveal my brillaint deception, because I want credit for how amazing I was, and also its best to have a very narrow timeline between action and reveal when you're benevolently manipulating your partner.
As relationship benefits go, there is only one thing comparable to the joy of repeatedly doing a bit your partner doesn't like. Oh in that vein, purple car.  The only thing comparable is the joy of subtly manipulating them for their own good only getting to reveal it like a grandiose and suprisingly competent camp saturday cartoon villain.  And the only that surpasses both of those is blatant manipulation that nonetheless, still works.
My partner got their essay turned in, I joked they owed my mom a fruit basket next time we were in town.
Flash forward a few months.  I had an essay that was 75% of my grade.  By the grace of professor, I was allowed to pick the media I did it on, as long it was on theme, so it was actually about a movie I really liked and had a lot of things to say about it and interesting ways to say them.
Or at least I did when bitching to my partner or imagining myself interviewed while on a walk or in the shower.  I had yet to write a single word.  It was kind of important that I finish this because, as the more astute number wizards amongst you will have divised, it is mathematically impossible for me to pass this class without it.
But I am a writer!  You can tell because at this point I have nine whole fics on my AO3 my handle there is chucktaylorupset if you want to go check those out they're pretty cool i think.  You do not understand I am an ARTISTE.  I do not need technology, or hacks, or trickery, I do not need to do anything but sit down and write.
My partner fails to be convinced by this argument.  Clearly they have no understanding of the nature of the artistic spirit.
Using their phone, I record a brief version of the arguments I had been bothering them with instead of my word document for the past month.  They send me the audio file (despite the both of us having androids on their phone has a simultaneous speech to text AND voice memo program.  This both does and does not surprise me, on the one hand why would that not come pre-installed on all devices, on the other hand my phone is Terrible. This is a hundred percent baiting you to give me app recommendations I still have not found a good free voice/speech to text combo app.
I spoke into the microphone for less than nine minutes.  I came out with a draft of over ONE THOUSAND WORDS.  Because it was a movie I didn’t even need quotations, all I had to do was edit and submit.
My partner made sure to be very gracious when they immediately snitched to my mom about how she was right.  My mom was delighted, and not even a little smug it was horrible.
The moral of the story is that mom's are the worst.  And even worse than that, they're right.

Five Things I Never Get Tired of Writing
Tagged by @aquil-writes - thank you!
I'M SORRY I SAW THE POST THIS MORNING AND THEN IMMEDIATELY FORGOT ABOUT IT
*ahem*
My no-pressure tags are! @equusgirl-writes, @sparatus, @thetrashbagswasteland, @drumsandwaves aaaaaand @frostedlemonwriter
Let's go!
1
Action - I love challenging myself with my writing, and action is the easiest way to the do that (easiest way to challenge myself...? You know what I mean). There is so much that goes into an action scene, so I like to try breaking it down into its component parts: irst, we need the blueprints. Who's doing what, who's going where, what's happening in the most barebones-storyboard way? Second, we need the immersion, we need to make the reader feel like they're watching everything happen from an uncomfortably close perspective - projectile miss the MC's face by this much? Then it's missed the reader by that much as well. Finally, get that EMOTION in there. Action doesn't happen inside a vacuum, and everyone reacts to pressure differently. Some fight, some freeze, some run, some do a combination of all three. What is my MC thinking and feeling as they're running/fighting for their life?
2
Hope - At the end of the day, when all else fails, people keep going because of hope. So hope is one of my favourite things to write about, because you really get to see at what point people stop being able to hope. It's another way of dissecting the characters.
3
Horror - I love horror as a genre, and I love writing horror. I love trying to think of different ways to frighten with just the power of my words, whether it's a creeping, inevitable dread, or a rushed, panicked fear, if I can open my readers eyes to things in the dark they never thought of before, then I consider that a job well done.
4
Women - Look, I fucking LOVE women, ok? And I love writing about lots of different women. Mad Max:Fury Road came out years ago now, and yeah, Furiosa is badass, but take a step back and lok at the sheer variety of women! The breadth and depth of womanhood we have here! The Wives! The Vuvalini! Miss Giddy! They are all so strong in their own way and it was an absolute joy to watch, so I strive to have that level of variety and diversity in my stories.
5
Dialogue - Hey, remember what I said about challenging myself? I am not good at dialogue. At all. It's a full-on battle for me every time two or more characters talk; I wish I could write stories with absolutely no communication at all except meaningful looks, but alas, that's outside of my skillset. So I challenge myself with little dialogue-only pieces, trying to get the hang ofgiving characters distinctive enough voices that no descriptors are needed. It's so hard. But I'm getting to enjoy it.

Any yj fanfic recs, it doesn’t have to be just Bart or zetaflash. It can be anything! I’m just trying not to think about the cancellation lmao
im glad im answering this now instead of when I first saw it cause all this time I thought u were asking about fics in general and ive been trying to come up with some since and WHEW I have zero idea on where to start id be at it for hours.
apologies for only replying now, ik this might've been more helpful in the moment but I was hoping my post on YJ status was somewhat helpful on the matter ! still imma give some reccs in case u need it in the future
though warning... I get the impression its entirely possible (very likely) u might have read them all already? im gonna try my best with variety but I can't promise u haven't read it already
for YJ, I have to confess....... I have tunnel vision for bart, I don't recall reading much outside/beyond him and those that I have, well since I don't archive what I read (one of my worst traits if u ask me), its not coming to me rn, but next time I read smn I wanna recc Im gonna try to remember to add it to this post as an edit lol
but for now...
Sunshine. Falling by @/radioactive-earthshine
ok...so ik im gonna mostly be giving the stuff that ive bookmarked on ao3 (which isn't at all a comprehensive list, theres sooo much more that ive loved but I don't use my acc to read at all so I usually just free-ball it when trying to remember fics, and yes, its a habit I very much hate lol) and in fact, I wish I could mention them all here but I would be writing a novel if I spoke about each and every one of the so ur best bet is to just check that list out honestly
and also, yeah its not a YJ fic, but I enjoy how it follows his comic characters run and builds on it. I find his characterisation in this fic rlly interesting and authentic (also Max being Native American there is everything, I actually have this whole theory/HC in YJ that Max is a Native American “God” (like the ancient greek/roman gods) i.e commonly known as Mercury, that just kinda roams about but is mostly in New Genesis (no idea where that thread/post is rn but I read someone connecting Lightray to Hermes/Mercury and since then that idea has been stuck in my head lol))
okay I have gone totally off track (im so sorry omg) im gonna try to keep it concise from here lol, anyway supper recc sunshine falling, the writing is gorgeous and the plot is rlly interesting!
After the fall of Olympus by @/greycappedjester
okay, im obsessed with this series, the world building is INSANE, the first fic in the series is basically a YJA AU where failsafe actually happened (whole flashfam except jay dies, but YJA bart still makes it to that TL cause he actually ended up dimension hopping rather than time travelling, or smn like that). To keep it short, his characterisation here is AMAZING, I love it sm, the second fic, flash facts is one of my all time favourites (if u ask me its the only canon take of his interaction with the rogues, cause don't get me started on how foul his comics history with them is (and not in a gd way)) so personally, this series, particularly flash facts, is just fantastic. it also very much explores other YJ/DC characters, (Dick is the central figure in AFTO and bart appears relatively later on and when the YJ Invasion plot passes, the plot focuses alot on other characters, especially considering its largely about Dicks evolution).
For zetaflash, I mean it quite literally when I say I think ive read almost all the fics under the tag... we are very much at that stage in the fandom, so yeah lol, quite a few of my faves are in my bookmarks but I haven't updated it in a while
Sooner than later, a Wally and bart oneshot on their YJ bond, its quite sweet, ft spitfire
Waking up to Ash and Dust  its incomplete (just one chapter) and quite an old fic, its also been super long since I last read it so I can't remember it clearly, gotta give it a reread but I remember it being a rlly interesting take on things so it stuck with me, basically an outsider POV of bart with OCs
ill try to update this list when I can! and my bookmarks at some point too whilst im at it lol, hope u can enjoy these (if u haven't read them already lol) and im so sorry for the totally unwarranted random essay lmfao

🥮 🍘 🍙 (also ur great thank u for ur time)
Omg anon thank you so much for responding!! And omg you're the sweetest!! You're great too anon!! I bet you're amazing and wonderful!! <33
🥮 Do you have any writing milestones you're working toward?
Ooh this is such a great question!! When I first started writing fanfiction for this blog, my goal was to post one fic a week. I've definitely slacked on that, especially since I got discouraged a while ago and haven't written in a hot minute (i'm so sorry guys!!). But one of my goals is to hopefully get back to that! I'm going to attempt to ease back into that so I don't burn myself out, but watch me post like 5 billion fics over spring break lmao
One of my other goals, I suppose this is more short term, is to hopefully post a fic for each of the boys I haven't written for once I finish the requests in my inbox! I'm hoping maybe this will make things more interesting for you guys, or maybe encourage a bit more interaction? Not to sound like an attention whore but highkey I LOVE talking to you guys cos you're all awesome!! So I'm really hoping if I add more variety to my content, you guys will enjoy it more and maybe feel more comfortable saying stuff!
🍘 Is there a fic or idea for a fic that you've abandoned?
Yeah definitely!! I wouldn't say they're abandoned necessarily because I do intend to go back and finish all of them at some point, but currently I have like 3 Ariel fics in my WIP folder where I kinda wrote myself into a corner and I abandoned them because I didn't know how to keep the story going haha. I also have one for Jamie and a chronically ill reader which I wrote before Lying in Laundry, but at the time I thought it was a little awkwardly written so I ended up scrapping it and writing that fic instead. After re-reading it honestly I think it's not that bad and I kinda wanna post it, but I probably need to change some bits I ended up using in Lying in Laundry so they're more different!
As for fic ideas, probably the only one that comes to mind is one on my ideas list about the Reader sending Jamie articles about having a massive dick (lmao hear me out before you judge me!!). That idea was born from seeing articles that literally had titles like "my dick is too big and it ruined my life". There's also a tv special on Channel 4 called "my massive cock" and it's about guys who have dicks that are too big and it causes problems like finding a job and that kind of stuff (i actually haven't watched it, but tbh i probably will to get inspo for this fic lmao).
I still really wanna write something for it because I think it'd be hilarious, but I probably need to think of a bit more substance/a scenario to add to it because as it stands right now it'd probably be a super short fic if I wrote it haha. Also in the Baynton Babes server we always talk about how Jamie has the biggest dick so it seems really fitting for him :p
🍙 Is there a fic you wish had gotten more attention?
I answered this one here! But I would say the fic in the #2 spot is probably Lying in Laundry.
I assume it could be because that fic was too similar to some of the other Jamie fics I've written. I mentioned this in the other post answering these questions but I do try to re-read my fics to avoid this. I think when I was writing this one and re-reading the others I was worried it was too similar/boring, so that's probably part of why it didn't do so great haha
Also I think it probably didn't get that much attention because mentioning "chronically ill reader" in the title probably turned some people off haha. I knew that would probably happen even before I posted it, but I did try to make the reader's chronic illness not a major focal point (i think it's mentioned like once and that's it haha) so it would still be relatable to those without one so it lowkey hurt my feelings lmao </3
But I'm chronically ill and I know there's a few other people in this fandom who are as well, so even if they don't get as much attention as my other fics I will probably still post chronically ill reader fics every now and then because it's important to me for the chronic illness gang to get some representation, even if it's just on my little baby corner of the internet :p
Thank you again for your questions anon!! I appreciate you!! <3

Hi there I go by Voidless! (She/They, albeit I'm fine with whatever). I'm requesting for Genshin and would prefer guys (with the exception of Childe)
To put it bluntly: I’m a child at heart, an you could say, I’m fairly observant. It's not a challenge to figure out what someone’s feeling or thinking, their motives ect.
● I tend to be forthright with my emotions
● ENFP, the dulcet variety
● I like share knowledge and fun anecdotes
● Can be overly enthusiastic when socializing
● I’ve also gotten insecure, and assumed others don't like/distrust me without basis, proceeding to form an image in mind that's not true to who they really are.
● From the outside, I’ve been described as being like Zhongli (Serious, goes on tangents and socially awkward)
●Likes: museums, cool rocks, having a good laugh, travelling, anemo and electro slimes, civilizations of antiquity, and SHOPPING
● I'm not unique, but I really do fear death. I can't live just to die. I still have plenty I want to experience and not enough time. Isolation is also terrifying, just being alone with your thoughts forever. But the scariest thing has to be dandelion leaves. Yeah.. I really don’t know either.
● Hobbies: Anything under the sun! I'm a bit of a Renaissance person and sincerely wish I could live forever to do everything. I love to sing and tell stories and invoke the imagination. I also write and enjoy astronomy!
● As far as Love Language goes, it's kinda hard to pigeonhole I'll express it however I can. However I feel most at home with Gift Giving and Words of Affirmation
● In abstract terms, I want something genuine. In the sense that, someday someone will love me for everything I am. I’m not inept, but I can be a little braindead regarding things like flirting and sarcasm, so that might be interesting. In that regard I’d take what's said to heart. Someone who can be gentle when needed would also be nice.
● I love people who have layers of depth, someone I can't figure out immediately.
● I'm especially fond of grand romantic gestures
Apologies, I tried to keep it short but the wall of text kept on hunting me down...
thank you so much for choosing 1-800-SEELEETIA's speed matchmaking services! the keyword: dulcet is inserted . . . congratulations, your result is successfully unlocked! [ submissions are closed, event post. ]
lia's note: hi there, void <3 although there was a lot, but no worries, this was still super fun to do! tysm for joining my event~
