You had lost count of the times you had woken up during the "night", but in reality, it had already been too long, you tried to see the time, however, you couldn't, it was as if all the electronic devices had stopped working, as well as the clocks.

Something strange was happening, you got up and as soon as you realized that Steve was not next to you, you took your gun, for a moment the idea of being kidnapped went through your head, although you could not believe that you had been so idiotic as to leave you your gun; you did not rule out the possibility that you wanted to complicate things, maybe play with you.

You started to walk down the stairs, silently, slowly, without letting your guard down, you looked confused at Steve when you found him in front of the door.

“Are you all right? What's wrong? “you questioned, your confusion growing more and more every minute.

“I'm not sure, but we're locked in," Steve answered, turning around as he didn't expect you to have woken up by now.

“Locked in? "

“Yes, I have... I don't know how long I've been trying to open the doors, windows without success. My cell phone doesn't work, I think I broke it," Steve said showing you the cell phone.

“No, it's not broken... it just doesn't work, maybe you received some electric shock or... "

“We are in some enemy's trap," Steve completed your sentence.

“What do we do? "

“Try to get out of here. "

It took you a couple of hours (you couldn't be sure since you had no way of measuring time) to get out of what was supposed to be their house or as close as possible since you noticed that some things in the place had been thrown away for weeks or maybe months.

When you left, the place you found was not the typical image you saw every day, everything was dark, it even looked dead, and the houses that were supposed to be in front were not either, it was as if you had put the house in the middle of a dark and gloomy forest.

Without letting their guard down, you began to walk around the place, you had to find out where you were supposed to be, and as you went along you began to understand.

“I'm not sure, but I think we are in the Dark Dimension," you commented, trying to sound calm.

“Is that... bad? "

“It's... we have to find a way to get out of here as soon as possible. "

You remembered everything you had been taught about such a place, the horrors that could be there, but what intrigued you now was how you had gotten there.

“Explain to me what this place is," Steve asked.

“We shouldn't be here, it's dark magic, the opposite of what I do, it can contaminate us and...

“Turn us into someone evil? “Steve questioned.

“It's possible, we could also meet or awaken other kinds of threats, chaos could be unleashed, I don't know, there are thousands of possibilities “You weren't able to say it, the horrors of the place were infinite.

Right in the middle of nowhere, you found a mirror, Steve inspected it, but he didn't see anything different from his reflection, but when you peeked in, you saw the reality, you swallowed saliva with difficulty, and as soon as Steve noticed your reaction, you explained to him.

You weren't entirely sure if the nightmare was over or about to begin.

“We must get out of here, immediately, Steve," you ordered.

You weren't sure if it was the right way to get out or if you simply couldn't, but you didn't lose anything by trying, you took a breath and started to recite the spell that was supposed to get you out of the Dark Dimension, hoping it would work; after several attempts, it didn't work.

Wanda had completely lost control, now you didn't know how to get back to the real world, it was probably the first time you would have to face your best friend.

Why Tumblr Should Be Revived

1. The staff is not nearly as strict about porn as before. They got rid of the failed algorithm that attempted to detect skin on posts. This was the biggest driving factor to the migration. Artists can now thrive on here once again without having their posts flagged as porn when they’re not.

2. There are also many porn blogs on here still because as I previously mentioned, staff isn’t as strict as they used to be. You can potentially view and own a porn blog on here as long as you are careful. At the very least, it can have suggestive pictures and explicit text posts. There are millions of those on here.

3. This community was like no other. This was the only social media where the neurodivergent, the LGBTQ, the furries, the “cringe” people, where ALL social outcasts found a home. People came here and realized there were many others out there just like them. Tumblr is the home to aesthetics and fandom and has a sense of community you can’t find elsewhere. Tumblr has always been meant for niche interests, many of which have been born from here. It’s fun to be a part of that. There’s a reason why a lot of people don’t like Twitter anymore: it’s because it’s mainly populated by former Tumblr users. Ever since the migration, people have been complaining about hating sensitive Twitter users. Niche community members went somewhere they weren’t really welcomed. This is fine because social media is for everyone, but wasn’t it so fun to have a place where the niche and different thrived? It felt special.

4. Twitter is going down in flames. It’s no secret that Twitter’s website has started to worsen ever since Elon has taken ownership. Twitter already doesn’t let you curate your dashboard as much as it should, since you’re seeing what other people like, but not what you like. It guarantees that you will see content you don’t want to more than you would on a social media like Tumblr where filtering content is so much easier. This is why it’s much easier to avoid discourse on Tumblr if you choose to do so. Also, no one on Twitter uses tags due to the short character count on a tweet, resulting in lots of unfiltered content coming your way. Yes you can mute words, but you definitely already have or will see art or other imagery you don’t want to see due to short and irrelevant captions. Additionally, Twitter is no longer being moderated by anybody. Elon Musk has fired the majority of the staff that regulates content violating Twitter’s rules. Reporting on Twitter essentially does almost nothing at this point. Apart from that, you have the option to remove ads on Tumblr, the checkmarks here are more colorful, you can have several blogs all under one email, and if all that isn’t convincing enough, you can at least leave Twitter as a “fuck you” to Elon if that’s more your style.

5. Tumblr as a website and app have both improved. Not only did they get rid of the porn-detection algorithm, but they also provided us with many more options to customize our dashboards. The app is significantly less buggy as well. And now you can choose from a set of a couple colored themes in settings for when you’re browsing the dashboard and search.

6. The amount of personalization you can have with your dashboard and blog is unlike any other website. It’s only improved but even before it was one of the key features that has made Tumblr different.

7. Tumblr is less stressful than other social medias. Due to how good the content filtering is, we can avoid a lot of unwanted content. Less discourse, less triggering, less negativity. You don’t have the other common social media pressures of following a certain amount of people because it’s common to hide that information here, along with the amount of followers you have. That means anyone here can be “Tumblr famous.” Blocking is also frowned upon on most social medias, but it’s pretty commonplace on Tumblr. Block everybody if you want to, even me.

What kind of work will be accepted?

Pretty much anything! Fanart, fics, edits, AMVs, headcanon/meta posts etc. Feel free to send an ask for specific clarification.

A/B/O AUs aren’t allowed, are other kinds of AUs ok?

Yes! No A/B/O AU is a mod preference, other AUs are perfectly fine for any day!

What if I want to write something in your rule’s ‘not allowed’ list?

You are more than welcome to create whatever content you’d like in your personal time, but the ‘not allowed’ list’s purpose is to appeal to a wide audience and our mod’s personal comfort. If you’d like to host your own event with no restrictions at all, we encourage you to do so! However, we will be sticking to our rules for this event.

Is early/late posting allowed?

The event date is to be determined after the results of the interest check. We will continue our ‘sneak peek’ day from last year on June 9th, but no other early posting will be reblogged here until the start of the event.

What did you say about that sneak-peek/progress check?

One question in our first interest check was about early progress checks. Typically week events don’t have them, but this sounded like a fun option to get people excited during the creation period! Tag any sketches/excerpts/etc. with #hashimadaweek2023sneakpeek on Tumblr or Twitter on June 9th and we’ll reblog it! (You can also @ us too on either platform.) Again, this is 100% optional and if you share a sneak peek, you are not obligated to finish/post the work for the event itself. This is just for fun!

Are dark fics/unhappy endings/tragedy allowed?

Yes! As long as the fic is focused on hashimada and the rest of our rules are followed, feel free to interpret any prompt in the most angsty, heart-wrenching way possible!

Can I reuse old works for this event?

No, sorry! Only new content, please! If there’s another week happening at the same time, cross-posting is allowed as long as our rules are met and hashimada is the focus of the work!

Is there a minimum word count for fics/completion status for fanart?

Nope! Make the fics as long or as short as you want and everything from sketches to full-color artwork will be accepted as long as it’s hashimada themed and follows the rest of the rules.

Can I complete only one prompt or do I need to complete all?

You can do one prompt or all or anything in-between! Do as much or as little as you’d like!

I’m not a native English speaker, so, can I post stuff in Spanish? Thank you! / Are fanfics only allowed in English? / Can I participate if I speak, read and write in Spanish?

We accept works in all languages as long as they are properly tagged and follow our rules!

There will be three prompts per day (because we couldn’t decide between a few, lol!) In an attempt to make the prompts as broad as possible we don’t have “G” or “M” ratings, but each individual creator is allowed to interpret them however they’d like.

I really don’t understand some of the comments you get. This is clearly a blog everyone is free to say what he feels and how he sees things. It’s so refreshing to be free and not judged. Why come here to rule others if you don’t like open minded spirits? There are so much other blogs made for one and only one opinion. Go to your people. Those who attack other for daring to say things we don’t like say we shouldn’t watch him but same goes to them, don’t watch us! There are plenty of blogs you will be happy to drool over him among others and guess what we don’t go there to poop your life so don’t do it with ours. Or aren’t you accepted there to be lost sheep’s here? Am sorry but this event yells for chaos. We all recall that time fans almost broke down a barbour clothes store yet it was organized with security! The fans on twitter called Reservebars, Totalwine and Sgwinespirits because for 2 weeks they had no answers and were desperate to know to plan yet this people had no idea of an event and had no idea that something was to be done. Many were pissed, the fans said it, they were pissed because they got asked for stuff they weren’t aware of! Even the stores were pissed because it’s fans who told them about it and they realized no organisation and no security was planned and they will be the ones most likely to have to deal with it for a guy they never heard of! There words. And now tell me if as so many say it’s not a fan m&g event why is it only the fans who got the news!? Why it’s only those who already did buy that got the mail? If he does it for new customers why did he brag it in his fandom and why totalwine doesn’t promote it!? Am sorry but if your business is so successful why after 2 years you are doing an aisle show in the middle of nowhere!? Why not on 5th avenue?! Where is that parkavenue shop gone?! His bloomberg meetings!? Why ending like a car saleman in an aisle!? And do you really think the men shopping there their 12packs of beer for the sunday games will stop at his stand to get a bottle because he is there to talk whisky and sign the bottle!? Please see it as it is. Promising autos and chats ain’t a tasting it’s a way to attract fans to come and get a bottle. It’s an event pointed to fans and their sure wallets. Pure and simple. It wasn’t posted last minute to avoid fans, it only was because no one had it fixed together until now and yet am not sure it’s called organized… one can only hope Alex will be as good as Steve when it comes to calm the crowded loud mass of fans who probably already camp as we speak.

Yes, this is a blog where all opinions are welcome, good - bad and anything in between. Actually I don’t feel my readers here are wishing him ill. Most on the contrary, but it seems it is hard to digest for some readers, or dare I say Anons especially, as they always send Anon messages and never put their name on it, to understand that people can have their own reason for following him. For discussing his work or actions. Yep, I received them again, just for posting my thoughts on this event, I’m called a bitter witch, I bash him for working hard, I should shut the hell up if I don’t buy the whisky, I ‘always’ blame Sam…. Etc etc….

Oh forgot the Anon that doesn’t understand the meaning of neutrality. It means, you can like things but also dislike, or like things less. It doesn’t mean you hate it. I explained it so many times here in the comments. If I dislike peanut butter, it doesn’t mean I hate peanut butter. I just like cheese better (yes I’m Dutch). But no according to these Anons we all hate sam and only fans who love him make sense….and we’re gross….

It goes beyond anybody’s well functioning brains, why in the first place come here to read, and then also send these kind of messages. It’s not healthy and that is what I don’t understand. See, I can say, I don’t understand why people feel the need to buy 10 copies of his book and still tell each other on Twitter they ‘need’ to have this or that copy because his autograph is not on a book plate but in the book itself, so he touched the book, and endless discussions about an autograph that is put sideways, and if it is a copy or did he really put that autograph there himself….I'm not exaggerating, I saw these discussions. I do not go on that platform and engage into that discussion. I do not tell them you must be crazy. I just read it, have my thoughts on it and yep, don’t understand.

But hey, there’s so much I do not understand. I don’t understand why there are countries in the world that see homosexuality as a crime. I do not understand why they have a WC Soccer in such a country, and I do not understand why FIFA not allows soccer players to wear a One Love band in solidarity to the homosexual community. Still it happens. And I’m not allowed to judge over it, as it is their country, their rules, their religion etc. etc. I just can do one thing, I do not watch it or engage in it.

I’m not going into anymore about this event. Tomorrow we’ll see how it goes, we’ll see if it is successful or turns into some mess (which I genuinely do not hope). I feel tired by the discussion right now, and think most has been said what needed to be said.

RECENT NEWS, RESOURCES AND STUDIES, Etsy & Google, early June 2023

Since I have been writing so much in detail about Etsy happenings lately, I didn’t have time to write my usual news summaries. Better late than never, here is what has been happening on Etsy and in the SEO world in general for the past few months.

The bad news is I am on a 2-week road trip as of June 14th, so you may not get the rest of the ecommerce, social media and other news until into July, but I will do my best to get some work done in the car each day without an internet connection.

TOP NEWS & ARTICLES

Etsy sellers in the EU can opt out of Offsite Ads. In fact, even shops from Switzerland can do so. The UK is not currently included, and no one knows which EU law makes this possible. If Etsy gives you trouble when you try to opt out, keep pushing.

If you ever thought Etsy wouldn’t put your shop on payment reserve, did you know they did it to Katwise? From numerous other reports in the last month or two, Etsy is now putting more shops on reserve for very small increases in recent sales, and plenty of other bizarre reasons. One seller contacted me because the now-on-reserve shop had been empty and unused since May 2022! I’ve updated my blog post with some new details, and have a new list of potential factors. Please let me know if you have recently been put on reserve and if any of the factors - known or suspected - apply to you.

I’ve spent the past few months researching how Etsy’s seller protection plan works in practice, and yes, there are some things you can do to reduce the chance of losing money due to Etsy’s new rules.

ETSY NEWS

In a disturbing development, Etsy sellers in India now must use Etsy Labels for all domestic orders. Unfortunately, I don’t expect this will be the last country Etsy does this for, as Etsy is already making it difficult for people in other countries to mark orders as shipped. Anyone experiencing this issue can avoid it by using the app, by buying labels on sites with automatic integrations with your shop (so the order is marked shipped immediately), or by trying this tedious workaround on every order.

As I previously reported in beta, Etsy introduced a “Make an Offer” option for US vintage sellers in April.

Etsy is pulling the usual last-minute attempt at complying with new laws by having some sellers re-verify info before the INFORM Act takes effect in the US.

Etsy’s Annual Transparency Report shows that their technology is mostly flagging items that aren’t prohibited on Etsy, even after a few years of adopting this automated approach. I cover it in detail on Tumblr. If you are interested in how search is working these days, definitely read my post! This could explain some items suddenly getting no views.

Speaking of which, the latest glut of bot takedowns involved several different areas:

handmade items, often best sellers from successful shops. Some have not been successful getting the listing reinstated after several days of trying

drug paraphernalia, usually for items that aren’t even remotely drug-related

listings making medical claims, which now includes mentioning the FDA. Read the updated Medical Claims policy here.

Despite this supposed increased effort of Etsy policing the site, the counterfeit accusations against the Etsy marketplace continue to percolate through the media and blogosphere, with some noting that both counterfeit and basic reselling [Glossy; soft paywall] hurt genuine handmade and vintage sellers. If you prefer video on the Citron report, here’s one from Yahoo. Then this Washington Post article [gift link; no paywall] got a lot of attention regarding dropshipping and how you can get a lot of the same things cheaper on Alibaba; there was also an investigation in the UK that came to the same conclusion.

Etsy even addressed the negative media attention in the first quarter report, which I covered on Tumblr as usual. In case you missed it, the fourth quarter of 2022 is here.

If you use abandoned cart coupons, note that many shoppers are now receiving them within a few hours of carting your item.

Some sellers - mostly but not all in the UK - discovered they could no longer use the shipping carrier option “Other” on their listings around May 12. Listings already using this option cannot be edited or renewed with more than a quantity of 1. Etsy Support has told many of them that this is intentional, and that they will need to select listed carriers - but Etsy does not offer some of the common Royal Mail or other carrier options in their coding. This removal also prevents sellers from using extended delivery dates when the official ones are too optimistic, putting them at risk of forced refunds under the Purchase Protection Program.

Canadian sellers now get reduced Tracked Packet (US) rates for Canada Post through Etsy Labels, but there are several problems with the offer. It’s only available to people with Solutions for Small Business accounts (many sellers have commercial contracts, which are not eligible for this deal), but the labels purchased no longer count towards Solutions for Small Business tiers. That means you will eventually end up paying more for your non-US labels, and for your labels for other platforms and your website. It therefore isn’t useful for bigger shops that sell to more than the US, or sell through multiple channels. Also, it appears that you can get a lower rate at Canada Post counters, as well as through eBay as of April 27th. And even if you don’t use any of those sources, tracked packet to the US has been only marginally more expensive than small packet since September, so make sure you compare prices before opting for the untracked method.

Etsy has reintroduced its wedding registry, and included the latest wedding trends in the blog post. This should work better than the first time they did it in 2012, since Etsy now has many more items sold in multiples that can be on dozens of registries without selling out.

The old Etsy seller app was removed from app stores by May 23, and eventually it will not work any more.

As mentioned in a previous update, now that Etsy has brought on “tens of thousands” of new sellers in India, they are working on attracting buyers in the country. In India and interested in opening a shop? Etsy has a specific “how-to” page for you.

A new listing page is currently being beta tested and should be available to all sellers now, but you can opt out if you have it.

Etsy Up was held in mid-May, and all of the sessions are available online now. Most of it is rather bland advertising for Etsy, although new sellers may learn some things.

The somewhat-depressing story of how one tech writer managed to open an Etsy shop in a week with all AI-designed artwork and print on demand services. “I created a series of four retro-futuristic puzzles. The MidJourney prompt was merely this: retro-futuristic. The results were just so good that I decided to use them as-is.” Note this still took a lot of editing and time, plus skill with the AI-art generator used.

SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES

Chat bot/AI search is the SEO hot topic of 2023 so far, but the commentary varies widely, and offerings are changing almost daily. Therefore, I will provide very few articles on the topics for the foreseeable future, since they are often going to be out of date by the time you read them. A few exceptions this time around:

One author suggests that AI will change SEO by making social media and question answering more important.

Google is building a new AI search engine, while adding new AI features in the existing engine.

“If your content isn’t better than what AI can produce, it’s not worth making.”

There are currently at least 7 types of queries that Google doesn’t use AI chat to respond to. [Twitter thread]

You can use Chat GPT to build Chrome extensions that complete SEO tasks and functions [I admit I can see this sort of thing being very useful for those of use who aren’t pro coders]

Since so much has happened since my last news summary, you may want to skim through update lists to make sure you didn't miss anything. Everything important that happened with Google in February is covered here (by Search Engine Roundtable), and here is March, then here is April, and finally, May.

Google’s March Core Update saw big increases for some shopping sites, including Amazon and eBay, plus media and government sites. Etsy seems to have dropped a fair amount, but this is just one study. Poshmark was also down.

Want your images to show up in regular Google organic search (as opposed to Google Image search)? The quality of the page as well as the image itself can be important. The number of photos or images on the page may contribute.

Ecommerce SEO is both the easiest and the hardest it has ever been right now. You need to do more than just post products. [slide deck]

Google updated its advice on linking, to now include advice on anchor text (aka link text) and internal links, among other changes.

Title tags - the words that show up as your page title on Google and in the browser tab - can affect clicks beyond just keyword use.

Want to show up for Google’s featured snippets? (They’ve changed recently) You may need to edit the page in a few different ways.

Just 16 companies (and all of their subsidiaries) control most of the top-ranking pages in Google searches. This is an old study with newly-updated information.

A lot of small business owners ask me what “keyword difficulty” really means. Part of the problem is that different tools calculate it differently. [article has tips on how to approach the issue] On the same topic, don’t forget Bing’s keyword research tool when you are trying to find new keywords. There are 15 other free keyword tools in this article. [I always recommend Keywords Everywhere and TagCrowd] And here is a searchable site for all sorts of SEO tools (some are paid tools).

This is the age of social media!

Kids and adults all use it, but the thing is… Every social media is a little bit unique and tumblr specially so, because here we do not have an algorhtym.

What does it mean, you ask? It means that essentially there’s no robot curating your content based off your likes, you gotta do it yourself: You have to follow people and, if you want to engage with their content and for others to see, you gotta reblog it.

Lesson #1: If you want to actually share content, you have to reblog it.

Likes, on Tumblr, essentially are just a pat in the head, they don’t do anything, they don’t help you see more of this content and they definitely don’t appear in your own blog for your followers to see, unlike Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, for example.

Lesson #2: Don't save and post again actual content already posted, that's stealing.

Another very VERY important thing: Gifs take time to make, so obviously creators are protective and entitled to their gifsets. So do not save the gif and then post it again, that's stealing. Doesn't matter if you found the gif on google, not tumblr, that's still stealing. 9/10 you can find that exact scene, giffed already and just reblog it. Same thing goes for any type of content from fanart to moodboards. Give credit where credit is due and reblog the content you like.

Lesson #3: Check the tags for more content, use and abuse of the search bar.

Now you ask, okay but... Where do I find content to reblog? Well, you already found winxsource. A good way to find more blogs like this would be to check the creators we reblog from! Or, if you're feeling spicy, go on the search bar and search your favorite show or movie, the large majority may have source blogs (aka ours, a collection of everything produced).

Specific fandoms have their own specific hashtags, it just makes it easier for finding stuff. In our case, we use #fate the winx saga AND #winxsource. Check them out.

Lesson #4: Send asks, send messages, make friends! But change your icon first if you want to have bigger chances of being answered.

Now, Tumblr is a social platform! Meaning you can make friends here. First, however, let's disclose some hidden etiquette rules that you probably don't know:

95% of the people will be more than welcome if you go in their inboxes to yell about your favorite characters in their favorite show!

You know your icon? Yes, the default one you have? CHANGE IT. Here it's very common that bots use default icons, so most people ignore or block messages from people who don't have an icon.

Where do you find an icon? Easy, we have a page here just for you. Reblog the post (credit where credit is due!), then save your favorite and go crazy.

Endeavor’s (potential) death and Bojack Horseman

SPOILERS FOR MY HERO ACADEMIA CHAPTER 350//

So seeing a lot of discussion about Endeavor and what he deserves - should he die, should he be in jail etc. And honestly I’m ruling out him going to jail since japanese cultural norms don’t seem to see familial abuse as a going-to-jail crime (still pretty nasty though) and none of his family have brought it up (I also think it wouldn’t be the right thing for his family anyway for reasons I’ll get to later).

So, death.

I think if he does die it won’t be from Touya killing him. Enji is too much of a focus character to be killed like that, and it would represent the “failure” of his character arc. He’s a man who wants to redeem himself from his failure as a father, and the biggest failure is his neglect of Touya leading him to plot to kill him. For both Touya and Enji’s character arcs to end in “success”, Touya can’t succeed in his villainous goals. Touya himself can’t die either (because he WANTS to die) so lets rule out any murder-suicides.

So, if Enji does die, it would be in saving his children. And I think the child he has to save primarily is Touya. He looked away from Touya 10 years ago, so he has to look at him now (even though the plot currently has him far away from Touya there’s enough highlighting of this fact to know it will be corrected at some point). I’ve seen some people suggesting (mostly on reddit) that he’ll die saving Shoto from Touya but that wouldn’t be a “success” - it’ll just be seen by Touya as him putting Shoto above him. So while he can save Shoto, he has to save Touya as well.

And this would be a “success” for his character arc and Touya’s character arc in many ways (and Shoto to a lesser extent but I feel like Shoto’s arc with Enji is different and mostly resolved at this point)! He would show in one great act that he can put his children’s lives above his (his original sin being putting his own ambitions over the welfare of his children) and it would match the foreshadowing of his dream where his family are eating happily around the table but he isn’t there with them,

BUT! I don’t think this would be the best resolution, and this is where Bojack Horseman comes in.

So for people who don’t know, Bojack Horseman is an adult cartoon about a depressed alcoholic horse (sounds weird but it’s actually really good)

SPOILERS FOR BOJACK HORSEMAN

So, both Bojack and his best friend Diane have abusive parents - for Bojack, his mother, for Diane, her father. And over the series both parents die. And there’s one episode, Free Churro, where Bojack attends his mothers funeral and gives a eulogy (its a great episode and can be watched standalone).

And one of the great things about the episode is it addresses the difficulty in mourning an abusive parent. Bojack talks about Diane’s father, how she felt sad when he died even though “she never even liked the guy” because it meant the chance of him ever being a good father was gone forever. Bojack himself talks about how on her deathbed his mother looked at him and said “I see you” - and those words both made him very happy but also very angry. Because his mother finally acknowledged him, but at the same time she waited until the last moment to do it. He realised she could have done that the entire time, but didn’t, which meant she actively chose to be a bad mother his entire life until then.

And going back to MHA, I think this is where the issue with Enji dying as a “solution” comes. Because his whole character arc is him realising he could have been a good father the entire time, but put his ambition first every time. So him “Seeing” Touya and then promptly biting it- no, it doesn’t work, and leaves a hole in the Todoroki family. Because despite Enji thinking that the only way to atone is to seperate from his family, that isn’t the real solution. Obviously he needs to give his family freedom and space - Natsuo for example doesn’t want anything to do with his dad. But on the other hand as Rei said, “running away” was his sin. He needs to be their for his family, and ESPECIALLY Touya. He doesn’t get to run away this time, especially not by dying.

Ah well, here we are all over again. This isn’t the first time we’ve all decided Twitter is for the birds.

At least there are a lot of different places we can go, and while I don’t intend to leave Twitter right now, I will be posting in a larger variety of places. Diversifying my online collateral, so to speak.

Wip ask game

Cross-Linking Social Media Platforms

Hello! GmaKelly here again wishing you a Great Day!

Today we're going to learn about Cross-Linking Social Media Platforms. ie: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc. And how you can Make Money Online utilizing existing Social Media Accounts. Note: You can use your Exisiting Social Media Accounts, or you can establish new "Business" Accounts. However a "new" account will not come with your established following with the Existing Account your already have access to. What is Cross-Posting Cross-posting is the process of taking a piece of content and posting it across multiple social media platforms at the same time. I've heard that there are people that do this manually, one account at a time. I personally recommend you use a automated plug-in to post to all Social Media Platforms at the same time or at timed intervals, etc. It saves time and energy. This type of automated plug-in will have automated templates that will format your post to the "rules" associated with each Social Media Platform.

Some platforms allow you to embed links within the content and that doesn’t necessarily count towards any sort of character limit, however others, Twitter for instance, stick to 280-character limits including links. Another example is Instagram, they don’t allow clickable links to be put within descriptions but you can add them within profile bios. publer.io/blog/cross-posting/ I use a WordPress Plug-In, Blog2Social, but there are many available. Most have a "free" version. I have recently linked my Facebook Account to Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Pinterest. Yes, you can do that. The individual platforms have a relationships with each other, keeping your data fresh and in front of your Target Audience. Different people use different platforms. There is no reason to believe that a person using Instagram also uses Twitter, for instance. This spreads your Content across a broader audience and provides your Brand exposure. Scheduling Posts You can schedule your posts to post at scheduled times or intervals, or on certain days. Being able to automate this mundane but very necessary piece of work is amazing. When scheduling your posts, keep in mind your Target Audience. What time do they wake up, look at their phone for todays news? When do they go on break at work? What time do they get off? Maybe they check their Social Media at night before bed. When they are looking is when you need to be there. Most of the Platforms will have some type of data analysis to advise of you when, and maybe where your Post is being viewed, along with alot of other information that works to your advantage. You might try this option, especially if, like me, you do your best work at night. Who is going to see your glorious writing skills and beautiful words at 2am? Well, I suppose, if your Target Audience is overworked, underpaid nightshift workers you might have something there. But you get the idea.

Take a minute to review each Platforms rules and guidelines on posting Affiliate links, the size of graphics, the number of words, etc. But then again a good WordPress Plug-in might solve all your problems. You might try scheduling your Posts, run your posts for 30 days at Plan A times, the next 30 days switch it up. Find your best time. That is probably where the Money is. Reminders don’t work

On Sunday, June 4, I will post my last reminder for this commission opening. Quite simply, I’ve run out of ideas for how to organize my “products” logically, and don’t want to just repost the same thing twice because it would feel like spamming. This doesn’t mean I’ll stop taking commissions (I do need the money after all for basic things like groceries) I just won’t be advertising it in this way.

I only sold 1 commission with these reminders and it was when I posted the first one. It is clear that, while the reminders do indeed get the offer in front of more people’s eyes, they don’t get more sales. I saw something similar with the original YCH that spurred the price sheet: after the first week or so, reminders just didn’t do anything.

Was it the algorithm?

Believe it or not, The Algorithm/s has/have been very good with the reminders, averaging 30 views on FA, 519 on DA, and 213 on Twitter (all of them doubling that number for two days… and they were different two days on each platform!) while the original full price sheet got three times as much! I got a total of 20 likes across all platforms and 10 retweets/reblogs (Tumblr doesn’t count views but it does count that!) The numbers are probably similar for platforms that don’t track views.

Did I do it wrong?

With total views in the order of 14,000 (which is astronomical for me!) and likes being one or two thousandths of that (they are normally one or two hundredths), the obvious answer is people literally didn’t like the price sheet. However, the finished Special Passenger YCH exceeded that “normal”, so it’s obviously not the station motif that’s a problem. People just don’t hit “like” on a price sheet as often (yes, I went and looked at other peoples’).

Were the prices too high? This was indirectly tested by the Pokémon offer, which not only is half priced, but half priced with respect to my old prices – in effect, prices are a third of what I’m asking for regular commissions now. Two people asked for Pokémon but it was clear from the beginning it wasn’t going to materialize before the end of the month, when I needed the money.

Did I post at the wrong time? I specifically tried every possible time of day, every possible day of the week, for when to upload the reminders. If there was someone that only logged in, say, Tuesdays at lunch, I got him covered.

Was the price sheet too complicated? That is part of what the reminders tested. Even when reduced to just one or two options, there appeared to be no interest (in buying, that is. Remember they did get likes and retweets and one even got a comment just praising it!)

Was I selling the wrong thing? The only thing the price sheet rules out, really, is headshots, but the purpose of a headshot is to get cheaper art, which I did provide avenues for. I’ve already shown I’m willing to do most “furry specialties”, and I think anyone who has been following me knows it already.

So what did go wrong?

Quite simply, it’s a bad time of year to open commissions. I basically opened on the day of final exams; people simply haven’t been online as much since then. The fact that there’s been not one, not two, but three large conventions since then, doesn’t help: a lot of my would-be customers are also convention-goers, and they will have, of course, spent all their money at the convention!

I also opened right after Mother’s Day (another occasion to spend all your money) and late in the month (people who collect paychecks only at the end of the month will have spent their last one and be waiting on the next one)

I may also simply not have the followers: while I have 350 on twitter and 211 on FA, 62 on DA, and 21 on tumblr, there is considerable overlap (which, let’s be honest, I encourage). There is probably only 400 followers total among all (haven’t actually counted, but the last time I did, years ago, that was the degree of overlap there was). Marketing theory says that means I can expect an average 4 sales a month. The size drive made 7 sales in one month. If there was only 1 sale in May, the average is maintained.

So what do we do now?

I have often mentioned how I need to do ref sheets for my characters (and failed), and part of the reason is to learn to make refsheets, period.

I’m going to reactivate my “dead” socials (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) in hopes of reaching people only on those platforms.

I’m going to post the remaining Pokémon. You may have noticed some of the Pokémon sketches in the reminders could not be found anywhere else on Tumblr, that’s because I’d been waiting to make sure they appeared in order.

I need to do more YCHs. I’ve been thinking about this a long time. I have an idea for a pride month YCH I hope to show you soon

I think I need to be clearer about my situation. I’ll be posting more about it from now on.

Let’s please not lose focus on what truly makes AI art to be bad

The problem with AI art is not that it’s generative. It’s also not that it’s poor quality either. It’s “just” immoral.

First, let’s establish that generative art has been a thing for a while now, way before the introduction of these large AI models, and it’s one of my favorite branches of art. I consider myself a somewhat creative person, I just didn’t have the motivation to practice the skills required to draw or write. It wasn’t until much later, that I discovered worldbuilding and conlanging, where I found my hole, my creative outlet. As a software engineer, I also love procedural systems, when it’s not a buzzword to try to sell a game’s replayability. I think Dwarf Fortress is peak generative art.

Y’all remember Cheap Bots Done Quick, right? Maybe not by that name, but if you’ve ever followed any of those automated accounts on Twitter (before Elon Musk decided to sacrifice them to try to appease the Spambot gods, in vain) that made procedurally generated emoji landscapes: those were generative art too!

That’s not the only kind of Cheap Bots that were on Twitter; there was this bot that roleplayed as a lonely car AI in a barren world that I loved. Another one that roleplayed as a ragtag of survivors making by in a flooded post-apocalypes semi-fantastical world, describing day to day mundane events. The CBDQ platform uses Tracery, a library that let’s you procedurally generate strings of text very easily by providing some rules, created by Dr. Kate Compton. She has made a lot of other cool generative art experiments that you can see if you dig around her website or Twitter. Here’s one of the first generative art accounts I came across on Twitter, made by her! Another example (that is not CBDQ) is this cute DnD character generator. I think there is a beauty in making unpredictable tools and experimenting with them together, seeing chance align to produce uniquely poetic results sometimes (other times it falls flat or fails spectacularly, but that’s generative systems baby). I think that’s art and nobody can take that experience from me. And this is just all the current digital-only generative art! There are expos too and stuff. Haven’t looked much into that but I know it exists.

So saying “AI art is bad because it’s generative” totally discredits this whole wing of art. So be careful when branding “writing a prompt is not art” around as an argument. Don’t let the fact that saying this only gets you horny weirdos pushing back on it distract you from the fact that it’s a shaky argument.

Saying “AI art is bad because it’s poor quality” is also a slippery slope. This is where the whole “look at the fingers!” bit goes. Yes, this is a very flagrant limitation of the technology. But technology limits only stay around for so long, we should all already know that. Just GPT-4′s arrival is already heralding image generation with good looking hands. And you’re also discrediting all the poor artists who don’t know how to draw hands either.

No, what makes AI truly bad is the whole immorality in the act of using it. It sources it’s training without no filter on what could be legitimately used and what’s being stolen, and then offering a product built on that stolen material with the original creator not just not seeing any compensation for their work, but being completely removed from the equation. THAT’s what people should be focusing on. No “but also it looks funny” because then the people who should care to make a change will think the moment it stops looking funny it will suddenly be ok. It will not. And on the other hand we also don’t want a whole style of art to be outlawed just to get rid of immoral AI art. It’s a very complex matter around technology and we still got lawmakers who don’t know what emojis are.

PS: Personally, I think that the training datasets should be publicly published (as in, a log of all the metadata used; you don’t need to attach every picture or text, but at least an index with the name, the author and the source used for each piece of material). This allows anyone to look for their stuff and see if it was misused. If you’re a company and don’t feel confident in doing even that, you should perish. Alongside that, I think a new license should be created specifically to sell to companies looking to use your material as a training data. And the proof of owning said license should be publicly published alongside the dataset metadata, so every piece for which the company doesn’t have a license for and isn’t in the public domain should be marked as illicit.

A lot has gone down since my last post, I'll try to summarize it all here.

To recap, previously on the Reprise, Part 1: Uncle Li stepped in to stand up for ZZH and c-ent as a whole against CAPA and other shadowy so-called authorities that are trying to manipulate public opinion behind the scenes for their own profit. Weibo kept muting and unmuting his posts, so it got to the point where he threatened to sue CAPA (because he believes Weibo is not responsible for threatening his content) with ZZH to get them to apologize to ZZH and reduce their power and influence over c-ent.

So as of my last post, Uncle Li has been busy at work dealing with CAPA + in contact with ZZH’s family.

November 25-27, 2021

1. A twitter user posted (in Thai) about Uncle Li’s background

I don’t speak or read Thai, but the gist of what I got was: he’s a famous director near retirement age who is part of a lot of long-standing organizations in media and has connections with the military. He also has a history of investigative journalism and has demonstrated staunch support for his country.

3. ZZH and Uncle Li join forces - He gives a voice to ZZH’s family’s struggles

Uncle Li mentioned that he is now in contact with ZZH’s family, and they are both cooperating it seems? He posts some revelations about what’s happened since 813, and it’s really heartbreaking

His mother has been a staunch ally to China’s political party, so being accused of being traitors was awful. People sent Japanese wreaths to his family, harassing him, calling him and his fam traitors, etc.

TW : suicide - his mother apparently thought about hurting herself seriously due to all the accusations? It’s just awful… he and his family have been harassed immensely since August.

Uncle Li goes on to say that even if anyone, ZZH or his fam or anyone else, are deemed traitors, they must be given a chance to deny these claims and prove themselves. Mistakes happen all the time, and people need to be given chances to rectify those mistakes. Deplatforming and silencing ZZH and his family doesn’t make any sense, and will only hurt their society as a whole.

The people who stood by ZZH’s side despite all of these threats, harassment, potential blacklisting… they’re really special. The kind of people you’d want to meet even just once in your lives. (Yes I’m implying JunZhe, but also his friends Susu and Xiao Yu, his family, the people who never deleted him from their histories including Sun Xilun (Chengling)).

4. Uncle Li’s videos and weibo posts keep getting muted/unmuted + users who interact with him are getting shadow banned

SO he’s been very active in dismantling CAPA’s perceived narrative that they’re a legitimate organization. Weibo, however, has been randomly muting and unmuting his videos, it looks like programmers are fighting each other to mute and unmute constantly. He emphasizes that he believes Weibo’s execs aren’t behind this, and it’s probably the shady venture people (rich ppl with power) behind the scenes that are trying to silence him and his followers.

He and his team of lawyers are taking tips from netizens + doing their own extensive background research on ZZH’s case and the shadiness of the business dealings behind CAPA. He’s posting very frequently just ROASTING THEM SOME MORE. Some examples are their utter lack of justification for boycotting ZZH because they said their rules for punishing people who act out of line are NOT retroactive. Then why did they punish ZZH when his incident happened in like 2018? Doesn’t make sense. (All of these pieces of evidence have been revealed already btw by many discerning fans. I’ve linked a PDF guide on ZZH’s case created by the wonderful twitter user mentioned above)

Some insiders from CAPA itself are helping Uncle Li build his case. They’ve given him some confidential documents - there’s apparently quite a bit of infighting within the organization itself, which IMO is JUST DESSERTS.

5. CAPA’s official weibo page turned off commenting

I wonder WHY. They haven’t actually come out to make any statements regarding Uncle Li’s accusations, from what I’ve seen

CAPA also scrubbed their list of leadership from their website, I’m assuming because they’re genuinely concerned now that the tide of public opinion is backing Uncle Li’s claims

6. Weibo Admin warns Uncle Li indirectly

Uncle Li is stepping on a lot of toes. From what I’ve seen so far, there’s a lot of nefarious groups acting in concert with each other. Weibo + CAPA + ventures business ppl are working in tandem to try and intimidate Uncle Li. Weibo itself posted a warning to not provoke government agencies nor should you try to “whitewash immoral celebrities” (i’m assuming they mean ZZH), or else the platform will mute you

Uncle Li posted about the conflict of interest with Weibo CEO Wang Gaofei. He’s not only part of the Weibo admin but also the vice chair of CAPA’s livestreaming subcommittee.

It’s also randomly deleting and muting people who are interacting with Uncle Li’s posts, so if you have Weibo and are interacting with his posts, please do it rationally so none of it can be used against you, him, or ZZH. And know that it’s possible the platform will ban you for it :x

8. Uncle Li’s absolute sass

A ZZH anti accused Uncle Li of crossing the political, national, and moral line by pursuing this quest, and he just sasses them as any old man would: try harder kid, his lawyers are putting in overtime

CAPA is taking down their list of leaders, so Uncle Li joked something to the tune of, Not only are they taking down people’s works, but they’re taking down their own leaders - the “takedown” term is the same as when ppl take down or take off works from platforms.

Uncle Li says that if you find his words to be untrue, go ahead and sue him, and if he’s found wrong, he will pay reparations and apologize. He’s so confident of his position (as he should be) that he’s not afraid to get sued by all the shady money dealers.

Uncle Li made a whole post about how CAPA is privately trying to intimidate him, but he stands strong because he believes in what he views is a more just and equal society. He truly believes that this entire struggle will benefit not only CAPA itself, but how entertainment business should be conducted with fairness. He even CALLS OUT the people behind the scenes for “attempting to launch an online campaign against me. That’s very shameless of you. It is also very scheming. You’ve underestimated the power of a just society and underestimated the power of the law. You’ve also given yourself too much credit and you’re being myopic about the success of a day’s victory. It’s true many big verified accounts (on weibo) are keeping silent. I very much understand where they’re coming from. Some of them don’t understand the internal workings of this industry, and some are just observing before taking sides. Many netizens urged me to contact the media myself. That’s not something I want to do currently. [OP note, they instead contacted HIM for interviews]. [...] I understand and don’t blame verified accounts for not supporting me publicly and I also don’t want all the media scrutiny to be on our industry.”

3. He goes on to mention that CAPA’s livestreaming committee has someone who is a VP of a pay-to-chat app and was found to be morally questionable. So it’s ironic that these are the people who are passing judgment as to who gets to be moral and who gets to be immoral

4. He says he will take all the legal responsibility and stand until the end.

What a champion, our Li, our Ye Baiyi, I’m just very concerned for him, I hope no one will try to do anything to him.

9. Uncle Li creates hashtag - “Justice for the people”[人民的公义] & others start speaking ZZH’s name and supporting Li

A film investor posted about how horrific cyberbullying is and dozens of reporters from mainstream media outlets have asked Uncle Li to give interviews.

Weibo refuses to allow his hashtag, “Justice for the people” trend to the top10 hot list even though right now it’s at 160 MILLION views + so many interactions. If you’re over 50million views you’re already on the top trending list. So???? Weibo??? Don’t make it look that obvious that you’re in on it ok?

HaoJingFang, the author who supported ZZH and GJ before, posted a cryptic weibo translated by this user:

The Long Night, she indicated it's the best film she has seen this year. An innocent man was killed by officials and businessmen, and all witnesses and those who investigated were dead one by one. Finally, it is the prosecutor Jiang Yang and his friends who stick to the end with their own lives, seek the truth and defend justice.

This is hinting at her knowledge and support of ZZH and what happened during the 813 incident - ZZH was also socially "killed" by officials and businessmen, and everyone who tried to stand up for him only made things worse or also got deplatformed (one guy i think tried to question if visiting the shrine at all is a bad thing? and got insta banned). Finally, Uncle Li swooped in to save the day. We'll see how this story ends, no one could possibly write a script like this lol.

10. Uncle Li meeting with official agency leaders on Monday - he will review his materials that he’s gathered with his lawyers with them.

Things are getting very serious, and people are watching and listening. Finally. I'm just so happy that people are FINALLY SAYING HIS NAME. Zhang Zhehan, I'm sorry, what they did to you and the people you love. Not everyone's hands are clean either. The public who quickly jumped on the bandwagon are also at fault. The antis. The water armies. I want this to be a happy ending, even if he decides to not return, I can see that it's a cesspool of special interests who are just using people like him as pawns in their quest for more and more profit, or more and more power. I hope Uncle Li can help.

My thoughts so far, TLDR:

So it looks like Uncle Li is successfully escalating all of the relevant issues up the command chain to even official agencies. I'm glad he's still keeping ZZH as part of the case. Some people accuse him of only using ZZH as a pawn in his greater quest to regulate CAPA and the other shady players industry. However, they gotta keep in mind that legal cases against powerful organizations or engrained ideas and structures need a solid case to represent your goal. And ZZH's is perfect, he did nothing illegal, but suffered massive repercussions due to a corrupt system. And it's easily provable in court.

Forgive me if my comparisons are inaccurate as I am unfamiliar with the court system in China, but as someone in the US, I can liken this to cases such as the landmark case Brown v Board of Education, where the NAACP chose the perfect candidates to argue that the doctrine "separate but equal" is truly unequal. They crafted their case before the Supreme court with Oliver Brown, a local father who wanted his daughter to go to the closest school available instead of having to walk 6 blocks to a bus stop to ride to a school for PoC far away. They specifically chose him to helm the case because he was a male + working father + solid case for his children's education, and knew these points would stand up in court. This ended up with the Supreme Court ruling to desegregate schools, a landmark ruling.

I'm assuming Uncle Li is trying to do something similar by combining his power with ZZH's case, and trying to get a ruling for not only ZZH, but for the c-ent industry as a whole. He firmly believes that he's doing the right thing, and I hope that he won't be harmed in this endeavor. It's truly what we all wanted, someone with power, someone uninvolved, to stand up with ZZH, SAY HIS NAME, and give him his voice back. Fingers crossed.
