(not digging them out rn but one of them the seashells are whole??? its so delicate and pretty idk how in the world they threaded them, the other one it is very thin rectangular slices of seashell stacked together/threaded together, also very beautiful and fascinating to me tbh)

20 Questions For Fic Writers

thank you for the tag @remyfire - if any of my writer friends want to play too, please feel free, i am shy abt tagging people but ily all

How many works do you have on Ao3?

2. What's your total Ao3 word count?

1,045,864

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Currently, MASH. Though I did do a short LotR piece at the beginning of this year.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Oh they're all older ones. The top two are Data/Geordi fics! Then a Kirk/Spock/McCoy, A Garak/Bashir, and an IT Crowd poly fic.

5. Do you respond to comments?

If I understand them (I think I get bot ones sometimes bc they don't make sense). I figure I can never go wrong with thanking someone for their time reading.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

If this means 'saddest' then it's certainly Hearts On Paper which I found fascinating to write and will still re-read when I need a good cry.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I think most of my fics end happily or at least optimistically? I love ending with a big party or wedding or something like that. I have several that way.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not in many years. And to be fair I was like 12 and did not know how to spell, but I do remember some of those unkind comments still yeah :(

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Sometimes. I used to write kink and then had a breakdown over it (I am still proud of what I wrote it just was not a sustainable thing for my OCD, is all) but now I write what I would describe as Fussy Sex. Literally the more compromising and special considerations made from one partner to another makes me so happy. Or solo sex acts, I have enjoyed writing those this year and that's new for me.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I don't think I've ever written one. I get very stuck in the rules of whatever universe I'm working in and it's hard for me to follow two sets of rules at once.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, I have, and was greatly honored! It was an older smut fic, quite dark themes, and a reader approached me and asked if they could translate it into Russian and I thought that was so amazingly cool. I'll go find the link if anyone is curious.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes! Most recently, The Famous 4077 Dog Tag Party :) we picked pairings randomly and each did a chapter.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I cannot possibly pick just one. Every ship that appeals to me does so at a different time and for a different reason, and the journey they take me on is always emotional and much appreciated in hindsight. My little fictional couples or their families are my family.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

oughhh presently I'm not sure if I have the right approach to finish Dull Instruments which is a shame because I really want to and I hate to start posting things I won't finish. But it feels awkward to me so I may not do it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like my character voices.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I try to give each piece its own style on a sliding scale of casual-formal but I wish I had more variety in like POV and stuff. Branching out into present tense this year has been nice.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I do write dialogue in American Sign Language sometimes. Because I am fluent in it. If I'm not fluent in a language I won't write a lot of it, maybe a few words here and there for the POV character to try and pick up, assuming they understand as little of it as I do.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Truly can't remember if High School Musical or 24 was first. The range, I know.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I don't know if I could choose! Sorry to give a lot of boring wishywashy answers but like. Whatever I'm writing is important to me at the moment I'm writing me, it's helping me get through something that may or may not be clear in the themes, and I am grateful to all of the stories I've written for letting me spend time with them. I've been working on some kind of fic almost daily for going on 15 years now, it's how I experience emotions and all the things in the world I'll never be able to do firsthand. It's how I have conversations I'm too shy to otherwise, it's how I see old friends, it's how I learn more about topics I never did in school. Fic is so dear to me, every word.

Heyy I just binge read your 'shall I count the ways' fic and it's so good! I love the way you've written book they're characters. I observed some of the chapters are not linked right in the masterlist and thought I'd let you know. I made a list if it help. I also got this idea where one day spencer is going through a magazine or is online and see a list of '50 ways to say ily' and goes through it, and Mr eidetic memory ofc can remember and realize they both have said it all in the past.

also, i absolutely HATED jj's confession bc it was just waaaay too late for her to do that (yes, i know they were in a life or death situation BUT STILL) but anyway, if i did include it, i think it would've been really friggin awkward between, spencer, reader, and jj cause like yeah, spencer had feelings for reader for a long time but also had feelings for jj at one point (i dont remember if i mentioned that in the fic tbh) so he tells reader and he's like "i honestly don't know how to feel about this." and reader's a little hurt. she understands why jj did it but also...homegirl literally couldve said a LIE.

reader would probably give him space to think about it. spencer would probably stay away for like 3 days and on the 3rd day you're confident he's gonna break up with you but he shows up at your place and he's like "no. she was my past, you're my present. you're all i've ever wanted and i'm not losing you."

A/N I’m so slow with requests but a while back the lovely @fandom-puffrequested: Omg sorry to be a pain but I’m a sucker for Shelby chaos 😭😭😭 can I request something linked to A Very Shelby Christmas where the labour of baby Solomons is just as chaotic? But it could also be sweet like the bros finally accepting Alfie bc they all care about YN so much and can’t stand to hear her in pain, all while YN is screaming that she’ll cut off more of Alfie’s dick than his rabbi would even dare to if he ever tried to bed her again 😭😭😭 omg the chaos 👉👈 ily 💓💓 Here we go! “Not now, Y/N,” Arthur groaned. Ada rolled her eyes, remembering keenly when her brother had spoken those iconic words before. “It’s not like I can help it, Arthur,” you spit.

Polly grabbed you by your arm as you doubled over again, “Alright, sweetheart, it’s time. Come with me…” “Not yet, Aunt Pol,” you panted, “It’s too early.” “The baby doesn’t have it’s own pocket watch yet,” Ada commented matter-of-factly, as she took your other arm. “Fuck!” you called out again as another contraction set in, “Fuck, fuck, fuckity-fuck!” “Nice.” “Oh, piss off John, you want to try this?” “Not really…” “Tommy!” you turned to the one family member who hadn’t said a word yet, “Get him.” “And who would that be, eh?” he replied in a low voice. “Thomas…” Aunt Polly warned softly. He raised his eyebrows, “Finn? You want Finn at the birth?” “WHY WOULD I WANT MY FUCKING BABY BROTHER HERE?!” Tommy waved a vague hand, “General comfort?” Now Aunt Polly’s eyes flashed with anger, “Thomas! Go get her husband, right now!” Tommy sighed deeply, still trying to ignore the fact that his little sister was now Mrs. Solomons, and said, “Come on boys, let’s get them all together and wet this baby’s head! Leave the women to it.” And you groaned, “Thank you…” Once Alfie would be here, everything would be easier.

*** “Solomons!” “No need to shout, mate, I’m right here, ain’t I?”

Slowly Tommy lit a cigarette and started smoking it, “It concerns my sister.” “You mean the glorious creature that made me the luckiest man on earth by marrying me? My wife? Mrs. Alfie Solomons?” A small twinkle appeared in Alfie’s eyes as he saw Tommy’s jaw tense up just a little at his words. “Yes.” “How is the old lady doing?” Alfie asked conversationally. “In pain,” Tommy replied, “She’s in labour, more to the point.” “You fucking what?” “She’s with her aunt Alfie, she’ll be fine.” Alfie blinked a few times, “Tommy I swear to God if you’re playing some fucking game with me I will shoot you between the eyes right here and now. You’re telling me my wife is in labour and you’re standing there casually smoking a cigarette, waiting for some fucking woman to tell you it’s done?” “Yes,” he nodded, “Well, I was about to go the Garrison. Thought we might bury the hatchet and you could join us.” “Have you lost your fucking mind…” Alfie said slowly, while rubbing his chin. Tommy cleared is throat and with a slight hint of uncertainty in his voice said, “It’s tradition.” “Well, if you’ll pardon my French, fuck your fucking heathen traditions, I’m going to my fucking wife and you are fucking coming with me. And bring your fucking family while you’re at it!”

*** “Why are we here?” John leaned in to Arthur slightly while asking the question in a hushed voice. “Alfie insisted.” “Why?” Arthur raised his voice, “Ask Tommy, alright? I don’t bloody know! I’m guessing it’s another Jewish thing…” On the other side of the door, you were most definitely in labour now. The pain was worse than anything you’d experienced before and you were seriously questioning your sanity at this point. “Aunt Pol?” Ada asked carefully after about an hour. Polly moved over from your side down to your legs and said, “What is it?” “Something’s wrong.” “THOMAS!” Polly bellowed as soon as she had taken a look, “Get me some more towels.”

“What’s happening?” A panicked Alfie asked from the hallway. But Polly pushed him aside and started ordering Finn to boil more water. “Woman!” he demanded, “You fucking tell me.” “She’s bleeding,” she answered quickly, “and I can’t see why.” “What can we do, Pol,” Arthur asked, wild-eyed. “Get a doctor. One we can trust.” Arthur dragged John with him, even before Polly had finished her sentence. “What about Sabini’s men?” John asked, “We were supposed to deal with them tonight. What if they come here?” “Shoot them,” Tommy said simply, as he lit another cigarette in a nervous manner. Inside the room, you were now screaming your head off. Of course you had realised giving birth would be painful, but not like this. The sight of Ada going slightly pale didn’t help either and panic had started mixing in with the general anxiety of the process, so your screams got louder and louder. “Pol…” Ada called out again, “What do I do?” In that moment, Alfie pushed passed her and fell down by your side, “I’m here,” he said softly. “I can see that,” you panted between shouts, “but why? You’re not supposed to be here.” “Out,” Aunt Polly said strictly, “This is no place for men.” And then Tommy walked in as well, averting his eyes and grabbing your hand at the same time. “What?” he said when Polly send him a death-glare, “If Alfie gets to stay, so can I!” “Fucking children…” “Alright, sweetheart,” Polly focused on you again, “This baby needs to come now.” Your eyes grew wide, “What’s wrong?” “Nothing,” Alfie replied for her, “You’ll be fine. You’re doing brilliant, babes.” “How the fuck would you know!” you shouted out. He shrugged, “Educated guess?” “Had a lot of experience with this, eh?” Tommy grumbled sarcastically. “This,” Ada pointed at the both of them, “This is why men shouldn’t be in here.” “I’m not fucking going anywhere, especially if my wife is in danger.” Tommy just shook his head in reply. “Danger?” you asked suddenly, “What does he mean in danger?” “No danger, love,” Ada soothed you, “if you just push.” And so you pushed, with every bit of strength you had in you. But then a gunshot sounded outside, followed rapidly by another two. Everyone looked up. “John,” Tommy clarified with a single word. “You’re being awfully cavalier about baby brother John getting shot there, Tommy…” Alfie commented. Tommy looked at Alfie with a frown that spoke volumes, “John just shot Sabini’s men. I told him to.” “Oh, good. Saves me the bloody trip.” “I can see some hair!” Ada called out suddenly. “What colour?” Alfie replied at once. And John stuck his head around the corner of the door, “Took care of them.” “We heard,” Aunt Polly grumbled. He hopped from one foot onto the other uncertainly, “Anything else I can do?” “Yeah, you can fuck off mate!” “Alright, I’ll stay, since you asked so nicely.” “John, just get the fuck out!” your sister shouted. The birth was chaos enough as it was and now all these boys were only adding to it instead of helping. And on top of it all, Finn stumbled in practically falling over his own feet with a bucket of water, splashing Aunt Polly in the process. This was more like a madhouse than a family occasion. But John pointed at Alfie indignantly, “He gets to stay!” “Push, Y/N,” Polly urged again, and so you did. “Nice one,” John laughed at Finn, “you literally had one job, mate.” “Mrs. Gray?” Alfie asked carefully, “Sorry to interrupt you there, alright, but I just wanted to quickly check, because you mentioned the hair, yeah? What colour? Because I’m sure I’ll love my son all the same if he’s blond, but I might just need to mentally prepare myself…” And then you finally burst out in anger, “Can you all just shut the fuck up for a second! I’m actually trying to have a fucking baby here!!” “Right, sorry about that love,” Alfie moved closer to you and grabbed your hand again, “Please continue. You’re doing brilliantly, even if he is blond…” Tommy chuckled lightly in the background, which made you even more angry somehow, “Alfie, I swear to God or Adonai or whatever you want to call him, do nottouch me again because remember how you said you couldn’t remember your circumcision?”

“Yes,” Alfie mumbled in mortal fear.

“You will remember when I do it. Remember how you told me of your rabbi doing it when boys are eight days old, because then it heals faster?”

“Yes...” he gulped.

“I’ll make it slow sweetheart. Really fucking slow.”

“Right,” he said with big eyes, “What exactly would you have me do then except for just standing here like some great big bloody useless piece of shit?”

“Shut up!”

“Noted.” *** You weren’t sure what had happened exactly in that last hour. Apparently you’d lost a lot of blood and things had gotten hazy very quickly. Ada and Aunt Polly had stopped talking altogether and they had managed to save you, despite the bickering men in the background. You did remember that Alfie and Arthur had gotten into a fight at one point, but apparently they managed to resolve it quickly when the doctor arrived and they took turns in beating him up because he was no longer needed. Anger really does bring people together.

Of course, none of that really mattered now, because you were now holding a perfect baby right there, in your arms. Finn just stared at the baby, completely in awe. “Not blond…” John sounded a little disappointed. You were laying in your bed, snuggled in the covers, waiting. Your phone was on your chest, screen black. You stared up at the ceiling, having nothing else better to do.

Then your phone buzzed.

You shot straight up, throwing your phone onto your legs. It hit one of your kneecaps, but you ignored the pain. You scrambled to pick it up and turned it on quickly.

You had one new message.

You clicked on it eagerly and read it with warm eyes.

Hey, baby! Just got out of practice and got my phone back! How r u????

You smiled. The coach had a no-phone rule during practice, so he made all of the students place their phones in a bucket before practice to collect after. It was probably a good idea because you had no doubt your amazing boyfriend would text you the whole time.

You shot off a quick reply and waited. After a minute or two you laid back down in bed, but kept a hold of your phone. When it buzzed, a few moments later, you couldn’t help the smile on your face. A voice message.

You clicked play and let Ryu’s comforting voice fill your room.

Ah, baby, couldn’t wait to hear my voice? Can’t blame ya, I’m-

His voice cut off and a cacophony of male voices rose up.

You are revolting.

Yeah, why do you have to do this in the club room, Tanaka-senpai?!

We all know you have a girlfriend and we don’t quit rubbing it in!

You couldn’t help but giggle at their complaints. Tanaka’s voice cut back in then, much closer and softer.

Sorry baby, I’ll have to send one when I get out of the room, one sec.

The voice message ended. You quickly texted him that it was okay and that you could wait. So you did. About three minutes later, a world record for Ryu changing, your phone buzzed again. Another voice message. You pressed play.

Hey baby, I’m out now. Practice was rough, coach had us doing flying laps everytime we missed a receive. Of course, I didn’t have to do that many but the first years were dying haha. And then- Oh hey Kiyoko, one sec baby-

The message cut off. You frowned. Then you waited. As you did, thoughts began to swirl around in your head. Doubts and insecurities that you knew damn well weren’t founded but arose nonetheless. Then you got a text.

Walking Kiyoko home, I’ll call you on my way home <3

You frowned but let it go, texting him your acknowledgement.

Nothing's wrong / But when you're not in my arms / I send voice notes, you send hearts / And get quiet / And I know that means you miss me

Your friend was droning on and on about some class but all you could see was her.

She was standing in the courtyard outside your classroom window. She wasn’t even talking to him, just some peers from her classroom, but those evil thoughts bubbled to the surface.

What if Ryu likes her more than me? What if he doesn’t love me? What if he doesn’t want me-

“Hello?” Your friend called and waved their hand in front of you. You snapped out of your thoughts and turned to them. “You alright, Y/n?”

“Yeah,” you looked back at Kiyoko. She was gone. “I’m fine.”

“I can bring it to him.”

Kiyoko was smiling softly, beautifully at you.

You had made a bento for Ryu because he had texted you that this practice was going to be long. He had complained that he forgot to pack a dinner and was going to starve to death (always the drama queen) so you had taken it upon yourself to remedy your boyfriend’s problem.

But now here Kiyoko was.

“Are you sure, I mean-”

“There’s a lot of balls flying around in there, L/n. I wouldn’t want you getting hurt.”

She said it so genuinely. There was no trace of deceit in her words, and the fact that you were looking for it made your stomach churn.

“Yeah of course. Thanks.”

And you handed her the bento.

When you're not in front of me / I know insecurities / Get in your head

You were walking home when you heard a familiar voice call your name. You turned around to see your boyfriend.

“Ryu!” You smiled, then frowned. “Don’t you have practice?”

“I do,” he grinned and pulled you into a hug. You fell into his embrace with a sigh. “But I’m skipping it for you.”

You pulled away immediately and swatted him on the arm. “Ryu! Don’t skip practice! You better get your ass to that gym before I-”

“Sorry, sorry, I’m not actually skipping, I just thought it would sound cool,” Ryu pouted adorably. Your anger faded away and you sighed.

“So what happened?”

“The first years are having special practice to give us a small break. I gotta be back in thirty minutes.”

“Then let’s get going.”

You walked in silence with him for a bit before he spoke up.

“I actually asked for thirty minutes,” he confessed, rubbing the back of his neck. You turned to look at him.

“Why?”

“I felt like something was off with you so I wanted to talk.”

The thoughtfulness in that statement took you back. He was so worried about you that he asked for time off to talk right away? You shook your head. Nothing less from Ryu.

“Nothing’s wrong,” you lied.

“Baby,” Ryu said softly, reaching out to touch you. You let him grab your hand.

I sighed. “I guess I’m just worried.”

“Worried about what?”

“That you won’t love me anymore.”

“Why would you think that? Wanna talk about it?”

You thought for a moment then nodded. “Yeah. And because, there are so many other girls so much prettier than I am and better and I don’t know I am just insecure.”

“Okay,” Ryu nodded. “But I want you to know I think that’s all bullshit. There is no one in this world better than you, baby.”

You smiled at him. “Thank you.”

But I'm not gonna interrupt / If you need to talk about it / Roll my eyes or get offended by / The way you doubt it

You were losing it.

Crying, sobbing, hiccuping, you name it.

Your insecurities had just gotten the better of you. All you could think about was how unworthy of love you were, and how Ryu was going to leave you for the obviously better Kiyoko.

You weren’t sure how long you were crying, but it was a while. After you had calmed down a bit, your phone rang. You picked it up, thinking you were probably good enough to talk.

“Hey baby, just got out of practice and I am walking home. How was your day?” Ryu’s warm voice poured out of the speaker, tipping you over the edge once more.

“G-good,” you sniffled. You cursed yourself. Could you make it anymore obvious you had been crying?

“Are you crying?! Baby I’m on my way right now.” You heard his footsteps pick up.

“No, no, it’s okay I am fine now-”

“Is it about what we talked about earlier?” Ryu almost never cut you off, but this time he did. You knew he was serious and lying was going to get you nowhere.

“Yes.” Your voice was soft.

“Okay. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”

Then he hung up.

Ryu burst into your room. You knew that your parents would have no problem letting him in. ALl you did was look up at him from the ball you were curled into under the blankets. You lifted one arm in invitation and he rushed to you.

He dove under the covers and pulled you into his chest.

And you know I'll remind you / When you think I don't

He pulled you closer into his embrace and whispered into your ear.

Vol. CXVI

It was a love story from the very beginning.

The Mal'ak Box Symbolism

(14x11/14x12)

Hi My lovelies! Today we are gonna talk about another Dean's emotional prison: The Mal'ak Box.

This meta is a resume of my season 14 metas from these episodes.

Coming Back to the Prison

The whole episode 14x11 was Dean saying goodbye to his beloveds (Sam, Donna and Mary). Avoiding to face Castiel because even when he said Sam was the only one who could convince Dean to not do that, Castiel was the only one who could really stop him.

There was a few things I want to point out before jumping to next episode:

Mary and Donna talking about their break ups with their lovers' was a foreshadow for the incoming Destiel break up.

The Mal'ak Box was a symbolic representation of Dean in the closet and writers pushing him there (yeah, writers and C*W). By making AUMichael (Dean's toxic masculinity) hitting his head each time he was thinking in a way out. This way out means Dean accepting his feelings for Castiel and finally confessing his love for him.

Dean's ILY Journey was following it's steps by telling Sam'I love you guys for trying', after his ILY to his mom in episode 12x20, interrupted again in episode 15x09. So sad.

Another important addition to the symbolism of the construction of this box was the fact that while Dean was making it, there was sparkles in the air and the sparkles were showering hot brunette shirtless cowboys that were blatantly Castiel's mirror. This was because Dean was thinking about Castiel while he was making that box to repress his feelings for him forever.

Dean and words

Writing just a few words about the whole biblical symbolism of episode 14x12, the only important point was each one of the references were linked to the sacrifice of the first born, it means, to Dean and his Mal'ak Box. But it was also preluding Jack's death at the end of the season. And the attempt of Dean of killing him.

Another creepy thing was Nick and Lucifer representing a dar Destiel mirror. The whole prayer to Luci in the Empty and the awakening of Lucifer through Nick's longing just like Dean did through his longing and Jack with Castiel in the Empty (13x03). And I innocently thought it was a foreshadow of Dean rescuing Castiel from the Empty at the end of the show. (Sobs loudly).

I'm gonna focus this second half just on the two Destiel scenes in episode 14x12.

So... Bc Castiel represents everything Dean wants and represents everything what he can't have and is reminding him all the time that HE'S LOVED AND HE DESERVES TO BE SAVED AND HE IS WORTH IT, he needs to AVOID HIM. Bc the FIRST BORN SACRIFICE REQUIRES NOT HAVE THIS THINGS.

I wrote all of those thoughts after comparing Dean Winchester's communicating his feelings to his brother (which he does it well and honest) against Dean Winchester communicating his feelings to Castiel (a perfect failure).

This is because Sam represents Family Love and Castiel romantic love, which make things more difficult to Dean.

Now, let's go to thw Hospital and Dr. Cas (fanservice and a delight to see).

The dialogue between Dean and Castiel was full of second meanings.

CAS: Hey, Dean. What happened to him – that was my fault. It was necessary. But it doesn’t mean that I don’t regret it. It doesn’t mean that I don’t wish that there could’ve been another way.

DEAN: I know the feeling.

CAS: Oh, no. No, please don’t compare this with your suicidal plan. Just stop.

DEAN: Okay, alright. Why don’t we talk about that later?

CAS: Because, according to your plan, there won’t be a later.

This is funny, because is Dean the one bringing the topic and when Castiel tries to keep talking about it, with his obvious against the plan position, Dean is avoiding it again.

DEAN: Cas… if you are a friend of mine, then you will understand that I have to do this and you won’t try to stop me. You think this is easy on me? It has to be done.

Castiel shooting again with honesty, and Dean... Can't respond... But look at his face. He swallows, dimples of discontent, and the movement of his face and his eyes are saying: "Please don't make me say it... I could never say goodbye to you."

To Conclude:

I think the Mal'ak box was a recoil of Dean's character and it was a prelude of his sad ending.

The differences between San and Dean communication and Dean and Castiel communication are huge. The centric meaning in all of that is because Sam represents family and Castiel represents Dean's love interest, everything what Dean wants and he can't have.

home & warmth.

requested by @katsuki-bakugous-lady, sorry for the long wait! tagging @brattyquirks bc ily!

pairing - shouto todoroki x reader.

word count - 960.

warnings - manga spoilers.

summary - sometimes home isn’t just a place, sometimes warmth doesn’t have to do with temperature, and sometimes introductions seem scarier than they truly are.

for the first time since he could remember, the house was cold.

although it was true the house was new and quite different from the one he’d grown up in, shouto still felt uneasy as he walked through the corridors without feeling an overwhelming heat lurking behind his back. the very few family pictures fuyumi managed to salvage decorated the walls, giving the place an oddly domestic touch. something he, admittedly, had never experienced before.

nevertheless, it felt right—welcoming, even. the house might have been cold, but shouto’s heart slowly warmed up with each second he spent inside his new home away from school.

“natsu, you’re bringing your girlfriend over tomorrow night, right?” the soft sizzling of the stove did little to muffle his brother’s nervous sputtering, which only seemed to amuse both fuyumi and rei even further.

“yeah, but it was supposed to be a surprise,” natsuo mumbled, sighing in defeat as his mother chuckled. “but i’ve been doing my research, and I’m actually surprised shoto hasn’t said anything about tomorrow yet.”

shouto’s soft grin slowly turned upside down, confusion evident in his eyes, “what is that supposed to mean?”

fuyumi, without missing a beat, only spared him a sly gance, “you might be good at keeping secrets, but your two friends sure aren’t! poor midoriya let it slip that you’re seeing someone.”

there was a brief pause as shouto slurped his soba quietly. it wasn’t necessarily a secret, though it wasn’t something he planned on revealing just yet either. unsurprisingly, his forte had never been keeping in touch with his emotions, or sharing details about his personal life. for shouto, that was still quite a learning curve.

however, something about the naturality of the current situation made it easy for him to open the door to his heart.

“we’ve been together for over a year,” shouto hummed, “i guess i haven’t had time to introduce them to you.”

clearly not expecting the lack of secrecy after being caught, natsuo and fuyumi were taken aback. witnessing the rare occurence of their little brother opening up was certainly touching, making the cold house just a little bit warmer.

surprisingly, it was rei who spoke next, her kind eyes resting on shouto, “will they come for dinner tomorrow as well?”

although his expression didn’t quite convey the same emotions, shouto could almost imagine the lightbulb going off inside his head. all those hours he had spent questioning his own sanity and why there seemed to be something amiss inside the house suddenly made sense. something missing.

of course, when talking about his loved ones, you were the only one missing.

“i’ll make sure to ask them.”

“sho, are you sure about this? i don’t want to intrude, and this was all on a pretty short notice,” with the door to his house just a few meters away from you, all the worries shouto had tried his best to dispel started to resurface once again.

“yes, i’m very sure about this,” he started, squeezing your hand as he rang the doorbell, “this is new for me too, and i apologize if i didn’t give you enough time to prepare, but there’s no one else i would want in your place.”

both the weight of his jacket on your shoulders and his soft smile did wonders to chase away your stray thoughts. or at least enough to not scramble as soon as his mother opened the door.

“you must be (Y/N),” being able to see the resemblance between your boyfriend and rei was a new sensation. entrancing, yet daunting. bittersweet.

“we’re sorry for the delay,” shouto jumped into action as soon as he noticed your lost stare, “are natsuo and fuyumi inside?-”

“i’ve heard so much about you,” you muttered, pushing past the urge to flee or curl up into a ball for both of your sakes. “it’s, uhm, really great to finally meet you.”

perhaps it was an unspoken type of bond shouto had yet to grasp, but when rei moved to hold your shaking hands, all evident nervousness in your eyes started to filter out of you. shouto could only watch with amazement as his mother reassured you without words.

in spite of everything the world had thrown at her, rei’s heart remained kind.

“the pleasure is all mine.”

with each star that emerged up in the sky, the anxiety that came with meeting shouto’s family eased into a more pleasant feeling. each taste of fuyumi and natsuo’s cooking held a certain tinge of intimacy and familiarity. each silent giggle you shared with natsuo’s girlfriend as the siblings got into a playful quarrel was subtle, yet uplifting.

above all, being by shouto’s side and getting to enjoy the evening, laughter and embarrassment included, was heart-warming.

it made you feel welcome.

“please promise me you’ll visit again!” fuyumi giggled, standing by the front door as you and shouto bundled up to return to your dorms. “you’re always welcome here.”

shouto’s gaze landed on you, gently squeezing your hand as he awaited for your response.

“we most definitely will,” you started, moving to embrace fuyumi in one last hug, “i promise.”

all while squeezing you tightly, fuyumi beckoned for her little brother to join in on the hug. without another word, shouto came closer, wrapping his arms around both your frame and fuyumi’s.

“thank you for visiting, mom really enjoyed herself.”

shouto sighed almost dreamily, his eyes closed, “me too.”

and as he walked out of the house, hand linked with yours, and a smile on his face, shouto came to realize the frosty atmosphere inside had steadily melted, leaving behind an intense warmth. not the burning he knew as a child, rather, a gentle heat.

1. describe how you first started writing and when you first posted

started in eighth grade after moving which fucked me up (i’m still to recover lmao) n i needed a distraction, reading had always helped but writing is what let me see what the root of my agony was. (im not trying to be pretentious i swear) i first started on wattpad (love hate relationship to this day) and beginning of lockdown this year gravitated to ao3 which has been my saving grace !!!

2. which of your characters do you typically resonate most closely with? do you base any characters off of yourself?

so far i’ve mostly written in louis’ pov. i’ve had to ask this question in the early stages — i resonate the closest to harry. most of my wips are harry centric for that reason. i mean, yes and no — i tend to take some part of me and fit it into the character but at the same time i don’t like seeing me on a page so yes and no.

3. where do you often find inspiration?

EVERYWHERE. mostly others’ stories be it in the way of songs, music, writing, art. usually it’s me coming across a vaguely aesthetic picture and my brain spitting out one or two random scenes and me trying to make that a story.

4. has quarantine helped or hindered your writing process?

both !!! i have new wips but also i lost a lot of motivation to do anything for a bit. school is sucking the soul out of me — it’s both easier and harder with it being online, the worst part is i can never truly feel like i’m getting a break from it. recently it’s been easier for me bc of the friends i made (ily all) it’s hindered a little bit bc i can’t go out and watch people and streetlights and the blur of cars and try to pour out that feeling into words and create something. at the same time it’s helped me gain more perspective on people and relationships which has been a massive help to writing in general.

5. do you listen to music/noise while you write or do you prefer silence?

depending on the number of classes i have/attend, my mental stability, the story and my sensitivity. i often can’t stand loud noises so there’s that but there is always some noise or the other so it’s never truly silent. i like it that way. sometimes i just play intense studying playlist on spotify and write, Lucida by Odin Sørlie and Haunted Heart by Dawn, Dawn, Dawn are my favourites.

6. what is your biggest writing pet peeve in your writing or in general?

excessive usage of the same word in mine. in general, i’m not a fan of stereotypical characters or romanticising harmful themes.

7. describe your ideal writing setup

2 am, in bed, music still ringing in my ears, three texts from my best friend about a story or about their day. under the blanket, the room smelling of chocolate or something sweet.

8. favorite time of day to write?

anytime but afternoon. those hours are for naps.

9. favorite genre to write + one you’d like to try writing in the future?

fiction? i’d love to write a fantasy au 👀

10. do you struggle with writer’s block? how do you typically overcome it?

yep yep. i just edit an old story or read my old works or other writers’ fics. i gave up trying to force myself into writing — i hated the end product and felt bad so.

11. what is the easiest part of your writing process and the most difficult?

probably the emotions? dialogue without a doubt — i dread writing it. it doesn’t come to me naturally. i can write lengths without dialogue tbh. also smut — it’s an eh eh aspect.

12. how do you come up with original characters? (if applicable)

my wonderful friends. they do dumb shit and i want to tell the world about their dumb shit so i make characters out of them.

13. what is your favorite and least favorite word?

as of now it is fucker — delightful word that one. least favourite is probably squelch — just no.

14. what is one thing about your writing that you’re really proud of and one thing you hope to continue working at?

the dreamy feeling i manage to write without a doubt !!!! dialogue and pacing. i don’t have the best dialogue or the pacing or the length for fics but i’m working on all of those !!

15. what work of yours has your favorite ‘verse/world building? how did you come up with it?

still a wip so i can’t tell you much except that it’s a proper treat. will write this once i’ve posted that fic !!

16. what font and size do you write in? single spaced or double?

*nervous laughter* the font changes from fic to fic — crush is comic sans, size 11. October was Lora, 11. Twisted in bedsheets is courier new, 11. stargazing is spectral, 11. so yeah — whatever the fic demands. single spaced !!!! except when i’m overwhelmed i do double spaces.

17. what is a typo(s) you find yourself making consistently?

I Cannot Type. if you think i can — congratulations you were fooled. autocorrect is the loml.

18. (if applicable) do you separate fic writing from fandom?

of course !!!! i basically do not exist out of my writing.

19. what emotion is your favorite to write? which is the most difficult?

pain, pining, longing. lust.

20. what is one thing you hope readers always take away from your works?

we’re all fucked up but we’re trying and trying sometimes is enough. you shouldn’t spend your life carved out around one person. it’s okay to ask for help and need a shoulder to lean on. i hope these come across in my future fics !!!!

21. what is the best and worst writing advice you’ve ever received?

bold of you to assume i’ve ever received advice.

22. which one of your works would you most want to see turned into a film/television show?

a new fic. will update the answer once that fic is out !!!!!

chronologically. i can’t do out of order. i do have a page full of scribbles but they are to tell me the order sjakmd.

if it’s constructive then well. no thick skin tbh. makes me feel as if i need validation from someone else on my art which isn’t necessary but my brain is wired to seek it and it’s a hassle.

25. what is the advice you would give to someone who is looking to start writing?

write everything you would want to read. write it bad, don’t worry about the quality. don’t worry about the audience. end of the day, it should be something you can turn to for comfort not something that makes you feel bad.

26. what kind of feedback on your work always makes your day?

people telling me they like my writing and it could take them out of this world for a few minutes !!!!!

27. which fic ‘verse of your own would you most like to exist in? which fic’s characters would you most like to befriend?

probably crush verse !!!! harry — his is probably the one character where i dump most of me in.

under read more bc i was not capable of keeping my answers brief this time around

why did you choose your url?

this...was supposed to be a short explanation but it turned into quite a tale so strap in i guess because we are going on a ride. back in 2017 i was just getting into musical theatre rp and i was still feeling too shy to really talk to anyone ooc so i would just wait for people i wanted to interact with to post starter calls so i could just do things in character with them the easy way. So i did this with my friend cam, who posted a starter for me using a lyric from If I Could Tell Her. she linked the song so i could listen to it, so i did and i went ‘wait a minute, is that Ben Platt from Pitch Perfect?? (and other things too, but i only recognized his voice at the time bc of the acappella girl movies)’ and yes it certainly was.

i had zero idea what the plot of Dear Evan Hansen was about at that point, and for some reason based off Just That One Song and the poster art of who i assumed was Some Guy in a Polo Shirt i started to think it was about some jock guy who broke his arm and had an emo/goth friend who had either died or gone missing under mysterious circumstances. also i intuited that Evan had a crush on his friend’s sister but he couldn’t tell her that directly or his emo friend would kick his ass. so i was like mostly wrong, but a little bit right.

oh and i knew jared and alana were characters from the show bc cam said that they were i think?? but i had no idea what their role was. so after listening to if i could tell her, i listened to good for you and all i really got out of that was that evan the apparently not-jock guy had done...something... that really hurt jared and alana. and at that point i finally decided to go look up a plot synopsis and i found out i was waaay off base. but honestly this is why cast recordings should include scene dialogue in the songs bc otherwise you just get soundtracks like dear evan hansen where the songs have like. zero context. we really just go from waving through a window to for forever to sincerely me without like. any reason as to what is happening huh. It’s honestly not a surprise anymore that all those people on twitter had no idea the plot isn’t about gay teenagers.

anyways. cam was writing jared and she made a post at one point about wishing somebody would write alana and i was like ‘oh i could do that!’ (after i had actually Seen a bootleg and finally knew what the whole story was, of course) so i made a multimuse rp blog featuring alana beck, nabulungi hatimbi, chloe valentine and some other characters, and cam started sharing her headcanons with me that alana is trans, jared and alana were close friends when they were little kids but they sort of drifted apart as they got older and their priorities in life changed, jared was the first person alana came out to when she realized she’s trans, etc.

one night i started talking about wanting to pick a more theatre-relevant url for my blog and trans-[character name] urls were getting pretty popular, and at least 3 of the friends i made through rp had changed theirs to coordinating trans-[character name] and i think it was cam suggested i should make mine be trans-alana so i did. eventually i realized the unhyphenated version was available so i changed it to transalana with no hyphen and i have lived here ever since. sometimes i think about changing it but i feel like transalana has become a part of My Brand and i am not so great with coming up with cool names for things.

any side blogs? if you have them, name them and why you have them

in theory, i have sideblogs... i don’t really use them, but of the ones i do have, there is:

emsbookblog - this was supposed to be where i would post excerpts of the book that i’m working on, but i think i did that maybe one time roughly 2 years ago and then promptly forgot about it/got nervous about my writing and was scared to share anything else. the rest of the stuff that is there is assorted writing tips. i don’t really know what to do with it now. i probably should post all my little thoughts about em and anita and caleb there instead of infodumping on my main from time to time, but if i do that then i have to promo a sideblog and direct people over to it which is always annoying to me when i could just do it on this blog which is much easier

dearnovelhansen - this is basically no longer used, but was a sideblog i made specifically to talk/complain about the novel adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen which was about 3 years ago?? maybe? i can’t be trusted to understand the passage of time. but to summarize: i thought it was an honor just to have the story be made more accessible since many of us couldn’t see the stage performance, but i hated a lot of the creative liberties that were taken. my main grumbles are that everyone who isn’t evan or connor is done so dirty in the novel. connor’s still kind of done dirty in the book, but not as much as like. heidi, alana, jared, and zoe are.

horseisle3 - this one was meant to be a place where i could just enthusiastically post screenshots from hi3, but instead it turned into a blog where i occasionally reblog other players’ hi3 content and bitch about how bad the game admins are bc hi3 is the tumblr famous (infamous?) homophobic horse game. the game where it was once okay to call your club store the gulag bc according to their head of hr, ‘it’s just a russian word for prison’ but you can’t say ‘im gay’ without somebody accusing you of corrupting young children who play the game. unfortunately there aren’t very many good interactive horse games out there, so this one is still about as good as it gets. it’s either that or star stable and i don’t care about star stable.

mlaenie - i’ve had this url saved for i don’t even know how long. way way way back in the day when i wanted to escape from the clutches of the onceler fandom i abandoned my first blog where i basically had an alter ego i guess?? and i decided to just be myself on the new blog. i don’t fully remember who came up with it, but one of my sister’s mutuals suggested that if you scrambled the letters in your name you could come up with aesthetic-looking urls. so lauren’s url became lrauen, and to match with her mine became mlaenie, which i abandoned on tumblr after about a year or so? but have continued to use as my main username on twitter, reddit, youtube, xbox, steam, and discord. i barely ever use any of these accounts aside from twitter, steam, and xbox, but yeah. so i’ve decided to try and turn this empty sideblog into a place for video game thoughts maybe. we’ll see how long it lasts this time around.

how long have you been on tumblr?

i made my first tumblr account in december of 2010, but i didn’t understand how to use it at all or how to customize my theme to look cool and unique so i quickly abandoned it. i made a new account in september of 2011 after some kids at school and my sister told me i should and i have been trapped here with varying degrees of activity/inactivity ever since. i have witnessed the rise and fall of the lorax/onceler fandom, hyperfocused on lord of the rings, star wars and back to the future all at the same time, and for the past 4 years i’ve mostly been a musical theatre blog with assorted other fandom stuff mixed in. i feel i have seen everything and nothing, but mostly i’m just tired and bored.

do you have a queue tag?

no bc i don’t use a queue. i’ve tried using it in the past but i irrationally feel pressured to sustain a coherent theme to queued posts and my brain simply does not vibe with that so i just don’t use it at all anymore. Instead i instantly reblog or post several unrelated thoughts in succession and then don’t post again at all for 3 days. the way god intended

why did you start your blog in the first place?

my very first blog was intended to be a place for me to post all of my petz 5 animals’ profile info, but i didn’t have any understanding of how coding worked at all and i don’t think i really wanted to learn, either. so it just sat there, unused. my second attempt at blogging was as a classic rock fandom person, so as you can probably imagine i was pretty pretentious about ‘modern pop’ vs the beatles, the rolling stones, the who, the monkees, and so on. and then i slowly devolved into a lorax fandom blog and everything went to shit so i made a new blog for lord of the rings/the hobbit which later evolved to include star wars and back to the future blogging. and then for the past 4 years i’ve been mainly a musical theatre blog with other random stuff i like thrown haphazardly into the pot. wonderful.

why did you choose your icon/pfp?

because my url is transalana and two of my most prominent lgbt headcanons are that alana beck is trans and a lesbian. i gotta be shouting out @kinqmike though bc she’s the one i adopted the trans alana beck headcanon from in the first place!

why did you choose your header?

in 2017 i was hyperfixating on Dear Evan Hansen (and Be More Chill, but there weren’t many gif-able videos then considering it ran for a month in New Jersey in 2015 and there was only one yet-to-resurface 35 minute bootleg) so i just grabbed a random gif off of google. i really should get to replacing it with a new header of my own though. i just don’t know what i should do for it.

what’s your post with the most notes?

i have lost track of how many notes it has (i think it’s somewhere around 200 now?) but when Will Roland and George Salazar performed Two Player Game on Good Morning America, i posted a screencap of their Jeremy and Michael along with that one quiz answer meme that says stuff like ‘i want to see it grow up healthy’. i didn’t tag it with any ship names or anything because i was anxious about having it show up in the tags, but somebody who reblogged it from me did tag it as boyf riends and i firmly believe it took off because of that. i don’t think i make posts that are relevant enough to amass thousands of notes, even by accident. which is probably a good thing bc if i did i would have to block so many of them.

how many followers do you have?

on this blog? 175 according to the counter. how many of those are still real people and how many are bots and abandoned accounts? i have no idea.

how many people do you follow?

i try to keep it somewhere around 200. i think i’m sitting at 180 right now but i kind of need to go through and clear out the really inactive blogs.

have you made a shitpost?

let’s think about this for a second. i’ve been on tumblr for nearly 10 years. you might even be able to say i’ve made more than one. they’re just not what you would call...popular shitposts.

how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ post?

that stuff makes me so incredibly anxious that i have to fight the urge to want to yeet my laptop or mobile device through the closest window whenever i read it, so i try very hard to avoid any sort of ‘if you don’t reblog this, i’m judging you’ posts. i find them very manipulative and not particularly helpful

do you like tag games?

yeah babey!! i just frequently forget to do them, but please know that if you have ever tagged me in a tag game i felt incredibly touched by the gesture and the @mention even if i completely forgot to do the thing afterward

do you like ask games?

i do! but also rip to literally anyone who has ever sent me an ask meme bc it takes me so long to answer them. i’m still working on a micro fic prompt from a few weeks ago. also, horrified to realized that it has in fact been a few weeks and not 3 days anymore.

do you have a crush on a mutual?

in any sort of romantic connotation? no. not that i’m aware of. there are mutuals that i have friend crushes on where i want to be friends with them but i get so anxious when it comes to meeting new people that usually nothing ever comes of it. i’m really not good at small talk or other casual conversation either which, as you may or may not be able to imagine, sucks. i just wanna skip over all of the awkward introductions and ‘hey how are you, how is life, what are you doing with yourself?’ stuff. not because i don’t care about it. i do, but i think most of my friends/the people i want to be my friends are also depressed and anxious so asking these basic questions about life tends to uh. make us all nervous. and i don’t do much with my life so i always have the most boring answers anyways.

happy weekend dearest!

other than the snow angels, i haven’t done much.,, just been cozying it up with coffee and blankets at home hehe. 30 degrees... amazing. ideal feeling like a rotisserie chicken weather. 😌 bc of global warming we’ve been having some great summers these past few years. it even gets to 30 degrees as well which was unheard of tbh.

Touya Todoroki being your favorite sibling and you reminding those times together, wondering if he’ll ever come back.

warning : bit of angst

this one shot follows the theory that Dabi is Touya Todoroki.

in this, you are Shoto's twin, sister or brother idc, whether you look like him or not, and you have both quirks just like him, except that you've been using your fire along with your ice.

Your twin brother and you had a special link, since your were twins. However, your favorite brother was still Touya. Indeed, even when you and Shoto were forced to train with your dad instead of playing with your siblings, you spent all of your free time with Touya. He couldn't tell neither why he liked you that much, but you were his favorite sibling as well.

Throughout time, as Shoto was seeking for attention from your mother, you were seeking attention from Touya. Fuyumi and Natsuo liked both Shoto and you as well, but they couldn't deny that you seemed to prefer their brother and Shoto preferred to stay with his mom.

You actually thought that your mom couldn't give hugs and kisses to the both of you, and you weren't mad at her -since she was still giving motherly love to you sometimes- because you had all of that with Touya.

Once your dad was training you and he had walked away to go to the restroom. You were panting, and Shoto was with your mom. Endeavour liked to train one of his twin at a time. Touya sneaked in the room. ''Hey, you wanna watch a movie with me ? You choose !'' You started to smile, but then you heard the restroom door opening. ''But dad...'' Touya picked you up and started to run, giggling. ''We won't tell !''

To this day, you still didn't know what happened to Touya when your dad found out, but you knew that nothing had happened to you. Whatever, going back to the movie. You chose a random movie you had never watched before, and you loved the background music : La vie en rose. You kept humming it since then, at the point that the whole house was humming it randomly.

Once, you dad had been very harsh to you, since your quirk had shown up. Even worse, he had sent your mom to the hospital after she had burnt Shoto's face. You had kept hugging him and kissing his cheek, under the bandage he had on his eye.

But when the first night without your mom in the house happened, you weren't able to sleep. You spent your time crying. Fuyumi did try to cheer you up, along with Shoto -since you twins were sleeping in the same bedroom at this time- but nothing could help. Even though you weren't as close to your mom as Shoto was, she was still your mommy.

After ending up in tears as well, Fuyumi woke Touya up. ''We need your help to calm (Y/N) down. They can't sleep, they have been crying for hours, and I've been crying since like 1 hour trying to cheer them up. Natsuo didn't even try...'' Touya sighed, ruffling his sister's hair.

He made his way to your room. ''Shoto, you can sleep in my bed if you want. It's calm there, I'll sleep with (Y/N).'' Shoto nodded and made his way to Touya's room. Meanwhile, your older brother laid on your bed, hugging you. He whispered some sweet words in your ear, rubbing your back and your hair. After some time you had calmed down a bit, he kissed your forehead and started to hum La vie en rose.

''Why didn't I think about it...'' Fuyumi commented. Touya looked up to see that she had been watching the both of you for some time. ''It wouldn't have worked this much. I've watched it with them, it counts more.'' Harsh, but true. At some point, you also started to hum it with a quiet voice, making Touya giggle. You fell asleep in his arms.

''Stop daydreaming, Fuyumi said dinner was ready.'' You heard Shoto tell you. He was quite used to you lost in your mind, even if he never asked what you were thinking about. Endeavor was on patrol, and you actually enjoyed those times with your siblings. But, without Touya. He was a taboo word. All your siblings know you must've been more hurt when he never came back than when your mom was sent to the hospital.

You could see your mom, you knew where she was. But no sign of Touya since that heated argument with your dad. You couldn't even say bye. It had been like 3 years from now. You hoped he wasn't dead and that he was still thinking about you. Still lost in your mind, you hadn't noticed that your older siblings had went back to the living room, living you and Shoto alone, since he was washing the dishes.

''Shoto ? Can we talk about Touya ?'' You knew if you needed to talk about the taboo word with someone, it had to be with Shoto. After all, you had this strong link twins have.

''Okay. But if I start to get mad about it, I'll stop. Agree ?'' You nodded, and started to help him with the dishes. ''I have a theory. He could've texted us and stuff, right ? -He's not dead, (Y/N). -That is... not my theory.'' Shoto raised an eyebrow. ''What if he turned a villain ? I mean, he hated dad he wants to avenge himself so he became what dad despises ! And he doesn't text us and stuff because we could know his position and he doesn't want to put us in trouble neither ?''

Shoto rolled his eyes. ''Cute theory, but Touya isn't dumb enough to do that.'' You just groaned. ''I'm sure even if he didn't become a villain he doesn't want to text us or to be related to us so we won't get in trouble. Maybe he got kidnapped by villains.’’ You said. But he wasn’t convinced. ‘’After all this time, he would've been home. Even your first theory was more possible than this one. I just think he walked away and moved out of Japan, and if he can't text us it's because he doesn't have money.''

Maybe, but Shoto missed a point. ''Social medias are free, he would've talked to us at least !'' Seeing your twin brother washing the dishes without looking at you, with an unbothered expression, you didn't continue. You just kept washing the dishes as well, silent.

Some days later, you were in your room -Touya's former room. Of course you were the one who had moved to his room when he decided to never come back. It was pretty late and the lights of your room were still on, so you decided to wear your pyjamas instead of staying half naked, in case people could see you from outside. You were using earphones, as you didn't want to wake up the whole house.

However, you felt like you were hearing something over the music you were listening, so you stopped your music and withdrew your earphones. And you were right ; some seconds later, you heard someone from outside.

You wanted to brush it off until you heard the person humming. Humming La vie en rose. You ran to your window, hoping it was Touya. But you just saw the back of a tall man, with a huge cloak and black hair. Well, it's a famous song, everybody knows it. You just switched off the light and went back to bed.

It was now your birthday. You had visited your mom with Shoto earlier that day, and she had remembered ! Since she couldn't move from her hospital room, she had asked Fuyumi to buy the presents she wanted to offer you. She wished you a happy birthday and she had baked a tiny cake with the help of a nurse she considered as a friend, and Shoto, you and your mom ate it in her room.

You were in the 1-B class, since Shoto and you had asked not to be in the same class, but your classmates and his had organized a little something for you when you walked out the hospital. They had some presents for you, and they had organized a little party at Momo's house for you two.

You stayed there until it was starting to get dark, since you both wanted to celebrate it with your siblings as well. As usual, Fuyumi and Natsuo had prepared some balloons everywhere around the house, and you both had presents on your beds. They had managed to make Endeavor wear a birthday hat, which made you laugh while Shoto just snorted a bit.

The whole evening was great, and even your dad wasn't a pain in the ass. He was less and less a pain in the ass though, now that Shoto agreed to finally use his power. You ate cake once more, kind of forcing yourself since you guys had 3 celebrations already, but Fuyumi had put a lot of effort into the cake, and you didn't want to hurt her.

Everyone was watching TV, but you stopped watching when you received a notification on your phone. Your heart stopped beating when you read ''Touya 😎🤙🏻''. Someone should've hacked his phone or something. But you opened the text anyway.

Unconsciously, you had started to cry. It was him, not someone who had hacked his phone. You did as he said and didn't answer, even though you had many many questions to ask him, and wanted to thank him.

''What's wrong ?'' Shoto asked. That's when you understood he hadn't received it. Touya had only texted you. You just giggled, wiping your tears away. ''Sorry, I'm just tired, I guess I need some sleep.'' Natsuo giggled as well. ''You had a pretty exhausting day, yeah. Goodnight !'' They all waved at you and you waved as well, going to your room.

You read the texts all over and over again, crying even more since now you were alone and nobody could see you. Maybe he was the guy with the black hair, he could've changed his look so nobody would recognize him, after all. But you couldn't ask him. If he told you not to answer, he had reasons. You just kept listening to the song he had sent to you, singing along with it, a huge smile on your face, until you fell asleep.

i want to share my playlists but a) don’t feel like making covers for all of them just yet and b) don’t wanna inundate my blog with playlist posts, but they are relevant to my art cause they help with Drawing Emotions n stuff so i’m still posting them on this blog

i’ll stick the links under the cut so i can keep adding to them, since i make them as i find more songs that fit and clicking a read more conveniently always links back to the original post, so 👌

also there are some notes bc thought processes are fun

am archives stuff

this playlist is p much just all the music that gets me in the Sad AM Archives Mood for drawing anything in like. the latter half-ish of the episodes. lyrically there isn’t a whole lot of relevance it just gets me in the right headspace for drawing The Emotions (edit: a lot of these songs have become lyrically relevant since i made this post. i’m crying all the time over every song i listen to. goddammit.)

also there is one song (not on this playlist anymore) that i put on loop for drawing specifically Helen and that’s The Mind Electric-- again, more mood relevance than lyrical relevance, though the title is. oddly accurate

honorable mention: black pear tree by the mountain goats and kaki king cause it’s not on spotify but hot damn

joan/owen

it’s just a lot of sad, pine-y love songs. honestly it’s mostly from owen’s perspective cause there’s been a lot of that lately, and as far as i can tell owen’s where most of the love was coming from in this relationship anyway

share your address- ben platt: frankly, almost all of ben platt’s music gives me strong owen vibes, with a few exceptions. this one’s just owen being super in love. that’s the whole thing.

flaws- bastille: there’s a lot about this song that’s perfect for these two but two sections in particular: “When all of your flaws and all of my flaws/Are laid out one by one/The wonderful part of the mess that we made/We pick ourselves undone” and “All of your flaws and all of my flaws/When they have been exhumed/We'll see that we need them to be who we are/Without them we'd be doomed”

the first bit because of everything with Mark, and the second bit because of the last few episodes and the whole “maybe making the mistakes we have makes us uniquely suited to do better in the future” thing

quiet light- the national: owen, post-breakup, probably. the whole thing is good, but “Between you and me/I still fall apart at the thought of your voice” is the part that convinced me to put it here.

title and registration- death cab for cutie: i had this one stuck in my head while drawing owen at one point i think, and then it kinda just. hit me how well it worked. “There's no blame for how our love did slowly fade/And now that it's gone, it's like it wasn't there at all/And here I rest where disappointment and regret collide/Lying awake at night”

better- ben platt: yeah it’s ben platt again and i can’t even point to specific lyrics it’s just the whole song. this one’s on owen’s main playlist too but it had to be here

you can do better than me- death cab for cutie: not sure about the first verse, but the rest of the song?? fuck

tompkins square park- mumford and sons: also a song that’s on owen’s main playlist, but it’s on this playlist because after am archives 15 it’s destroying me.

i don’t wanna love somebody else- a great big world: gonna let the lyrics speak for themselves: Oh, we left it all unspoken/Oh, we buried it alive/And now it's screaming in my head/Oh, I shouldn't go on hoping/Oh, that you will change your mind/And one day we could start again/Well I don't care if loneliness kills me/I don't wanna love somebody else

i know i’ve linked to this one before on my blog (the notes are here if you want them) but i’m sticking it in the masterpost anyway

this one exists cause a) i draw him a lot and b) there wasn’t a playlist for owen, which is a decision i respect, but also the one song we do have for him kind of. doesn’t help me draw him. i feel like it makes it harder for me to draw him? the song suits him, lyrics-wise, and i understand why it’s his song, but also there’s a lot tone-wise that just takes me out of drawing him a bit. idk why. anyway here’s a playlist

i made this one cause the official mark playlist was Happy Mark Songs, which is great and i’m glad he gets happy songs, but also i very rarely draw him happy (sorry mark i swear ily) and i needed a playlist of Sad Mark Songs. side note: i probably could have added like half the radical face discography to this playlist

paint’s peeling- rilo kiley: there’s a lot about this song that fits, but one line specifically that put this song on the playlist: And, oh, I'm not going back to the assholes that made me

i hate u, i love u- gnash (ft. olivia brian): see damien’s notes on this song, i wrote those before i wrote mark’s and it’s on both playlists for the same reasons

hard of hearing- radical face: holy shit

dead ends- radical face: also holy shit

personal giants (alternate reality version)- radical face: stop me if you’ve heard this before, but: holy shit. also this is totally a mark and joan song. maybe mark and sam also. just mark looking up to all the people who have ever loved him in any way

something good can work- two door cinema club: took this one from his official playlist; i love two door cinema club so i felt like i had to

a better son/daughter- rilo kiley: added this one after episode 14 of the am archives cause i re-discovered rilo kiley like right before that episode came out and aaaaaaaaa

older- ben platt: it’s sad in a Mark Way. idk how else to describe it.

mistakes we knew we were making- straylight run: i know i say this a lot but like......... it’s the whole song. look at the lyrics and try to tell me this isn’t a mark song.

stage 4 fear of trying- frank iero: “and i found some scars in places i have never shown to anyone/i don't know why it took so long to get back home/"if you could hear the dreams i've had my dear..."/yeah i know you've heard that line before/but if i had the chance to scream all the things i've underlined”

still feel- half alive: yeah ok so this is a more upbeat one but it needed to be here. again, a lot about this song works, but like. “Trying to recognize myself when I feel I've been replaced” is the line that got it here

ok ok- half alive: the lyrics kinda work, but honestly, it just Felt Like A Mark Song to me.

it’s either this playlist or, just, The Entire Bastille Discography, cause for some reason their music really suits him imo. this one and the owen one are the ones i consider closest to being complete.

bloody shirt- to kill a king: idk where to even start with this song tbh like i think the lyrics are just his entire post-safehouse arc so it’s definitely something i’ve listened to a lot while drawing him

blame- bastille: another post-safehouse one but this one very specifically links back to the Get The Hell Out conversation him and mark have; fall upon your knees, saying, "this is my body and soul here"/fall and begging, pleading, "you've got the power and control"/don't pin it all on me

reaper man- mother mother: this one’s from the Official Playlist™ and it’s here for p much the same reasons it’s on the official one, with the addition of it helps me draw him. it’s also the only one that i think does from that playlist? which isn’t me bad-mouthing the playlist, i feel like the songs definitely suit him, but again: suiting him and helping me draw him are two very different things

gold- imagine dragons: yeah again it’s just the whole damn song

look what you made me do- our last night (cover): i think lauren shippen posted about this being a damien song on either her blog or the bright sessions blog at one point? and shortly after that this cover showed up in my recommended videos so that’s how that happened

birthright- celldweller: i don’t even remember how i thought of this song while i was making the playlist given it’d been literal years since i listened to celldweller but it worked and it’s here

the hearse- matt maeson: the stripped version of this song is on owen’s playlist because it sounded kind of sad/apologetic; this one doesn’t. this one is still kinda sad but it’s angrier. it’s leaning more towards mark/damien territory; i stuck a couple of those songs on this playlist because a) i don’t draw mark/damien much and b) in the rare cases i do, the official playlist works for me
