fix-it fic for me is literally just either "holy shit canon really glorified this guy's horrible behavior so I've gotta give their love interest/friends a better ending" (i.e. glee, ofmd, etc.) or it's "i can feel the author's unintentional prejudices/hang-ups/etc. digging their fingernails all over the writing of this character that had so much potential so I've gotta wrest them away and fix some shit" (i.e. doctor who, avengers, once upon a time, the magicians, supernatural, narnia, etc.)

Rooting for characters to be good for good’s sake is boring. I’m real so I have to be good for good’s sake which is okay, but fuck if I need my characters in made up realities that don’t exist to be good even when the world is bad to them or they have the opportunity to be more interesting as monsters or tyrants or just straight up assholes. Ship people who are toxic. Fuck monsters. Kill people. Have fun. It’s fiction, that’s the point. Do what you have to do to be a good person in the real world who doesn’t do shitty things to other people or support people who do shitty things.

He spends a lot more time in camp Chitaqua. Yes, his future self is a bossy asshole, but what surprises him even more, is future Castiel being... Well, besides very much different, not very much friendly. Certain aspects of his attitude and some new habits, that Dean’s got “lucky” to witness, cause too many questions in Dean's head. Including some about his own feels. Piece by piece, he finds answers. He's not fond of them. ------------------------------ Chapter 7: South-east point He rubs a hand over his face and laughs silently.

“So please, don’t ask me what do I want. I can’t have it either way… And please, don’t tell me you don’t have any hope,” he finally rises his eyes on Dean. They look black. “Don’t. Cause that’s the only thing that matters. For you to hope. For something else. For another option, for another future. For a little hint, that none of us have thought of yet... Just hope, okay?”

He tilts his head to the side, just as he used to. He smiles. And Dean has never seen anything more heart-wrecking in his whole damn life.

“Just hope. Maybe all this time travel shit will give you some clue, at last? And when you’re back at your timeline… Maybe things will go in some other way. Maybe we all can be saved. And maybe, that awkward, scared feathery dude, that stands now there somewhere, hiding from his own kind, will have more... luck. I’ve made this hot take before, here are my canonical reasons why:

Overprotective big brother

Fights demons as their job

have both been to hell

both have had crushes on their best friend

Both have aesthetics and maintain them at all costs

Very scary to others and complete dorks in front of family

Adopts children all the time, sees child and then it is theirs. Older sibling instincts kick in.

Both have daddy issues

Self sacrificing all the time. It is their go to no matter the severity of the situation.

have a thing for dudes with special magic powers

Both fight the occasional vampire or werewolf.

Both have a vampire friend (Lily and Benny)

Don’t like new people in their circle and are skeptical at first but once they are in they will protect them. (Clary and Jack)

Both are angsty like all the time

Both go along with crazy plans their brothers have come up with but will complain about how dumb it is the whole time.

This fic focuses on Cas really struggling mentally after Lucifer's possession of him, and Dean flailing while trying to help him, and on top of that Cas is losing his grace. I was talking about this fic with Doe yesterday... it is seriously so memorable but I don't want to spoil too much

Basically this fic shows how Cas tries to reconcile what ended up happening to Jack in season 15 with his love for Dean, something I think is really hard to do but this fic does well :))

A Winter’s Tale by NorthernSparrow

This fic isn't really toxic persay, but it chronicles Cas' time being homeless in a journal he wrote in. It's also kind of a gen fic. I just love this one because it hurts so much to read but it's so well written. This author is really good at fleshing out details about the world, so I've read most of their fics.

I Shall Not Want by domesticadventures

Now that I like Sam so much, this fic is special to me because it deals a lot with Dean and Sam's codependency issues hahaha. The fic also has a lot of Cas struggling to be human, which is one of my favorite things.

This is a post 15x18 fic where Dean sleeps with Cas out of gratefulness / because he thinks it will keep Cas from leaving him. This one is popular so you might have seen it before.

Another fic with Human-ish Cas and miscommunication issues <3 I haven't read this in a while so I don't remember much but it's good.

I think this fic is the most similar to With Understanding in terms of the alternate universe, the psychological horror, and the subject matter, but I don't want to reveal too much about the plot :))

Hello! I love your blog, you guys are such lifesavers! I am searching for a particular type of fic. I’m looking for a story where Dean and Cas get together during the fic, and after they get together one of them gets hurt. I would especially love if it is a case!fic and if Cas is human and panics when he realises he can’t heal Dean. One that comes to mind but does not have human!cas is “One Cold Night” by xylodemon. Any others that come to mind would be greatly appreciated! Thank you xx

There's plenty of fics where Dean or Cas are injured and the other one is going out of their mind, but the tricky part here is that the harm has to happen after they got together. That narrows down possible recs.

Kung Fu Grip by 8sword - post canon, established relationship and Dean is de-aged by spell to his 17 yo body.

All The Nights by NorthernSparrow - season 15, they're opposite of together, rather, right after the divorce arc. But Dean is injured and they are isolated together.

On Drowning by domesticadventures - Cas almost drowned, Dean almost lost his mind. Season 10, human Cas, before the relationship.

3. What fandoms do you write for? Spn, tho back in the day i wrote weird ass crossover things for some games + comics + films and manga lmao. and none of those were in english

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

dressing down, shotgunning gone right, a couple of firsts, dancing moves, chipped coin

5. Do you respond to comments? i try to respond to all of them, even if with just a thank you, and i cherish them all very much

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? umm for now it's dancing moves i guess? because it's very open and they're nowhere near done resolving their issues

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? a couple of firsts. they will be fine and they will have a lot of sex :3

8. Do you get hate on fics? not that i know of? i mean in the comments everybody is very nice :')

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? WELL. the thing is. i only read and write fics with smut because yolo carpe diem and i love smut and i think when it's well written it adds A LOT to the characters. or i just want to read steamy stuff for my own benefit hehe. anyway yes i write it and it can be anything really, but usually it's on the verge of desperate and they're very obsessed with each other. i'm also a monsterfucker and love wing kink so that too. aaand i like writing d/s dynamics <3

10. Do you write crossovers? in my earlier days - yes, i've written a couple but it's just some bits somewhere in my folders and only one person besides me saw them. in spn fandom i'm not really interested in it

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? destiel (duh) and mckirk (so many years have passed and yet they still hold a place in my heart)

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? idk i have hope that i will be able to finish them all eventually. but probably the 'Skating Gays' fic because i can't focus enough to do a proper research on all figure skating shit and i don't want to write it half blindly and also in my head it's like at least 40k long and it intimidates me because i usually write much shorter stuff

16. What are your writing strengths? dialogues and smut (or i hope so at least)

17. What are your writing weaknesses? can't stay motivated and focused to write Big Works and probs the whole 'what's around the characters' descriptions

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i'm bilingual myself with knowledge of bits and pieces in other languages and it doesn't bother me even if it's in a language i don't know, it can even be left without any footnotes if the meaning of this bit is for the audience/another character to fail to understand the character speaking. other than that i can read the translated text and be okay

19. First fandom you wrote for? hmm. hard to remember but if we're digging deep enough it was probably tsubasa reservoir chronicle

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? i love all of them? i put my whole pussy in all of them and i enjoy them after. but IF i have to choose...dancing moves and dressing down probably. still. HARD
