Minnesota Wild Crack Fic
Short synopsis:
Ryan Suter insults Kirill’s go-to meal of sprats in tomato sauce on “little bit” bread and hilarity ensues.
Tumblr media
“You cannot be serious...” Ryan spluttered as he scowled straight across the table at Kirill, who had an impish grin decorating his face and looked far too pleased with himself.
The Russian was looking like the cat who got the canary, fried it, and ate it on a piece of wholewheat toast—just like Suter was about to do with Kirill’s beloved Sprats.
“You can’t be serious!” Ryan repeated, panic delicately lacing the outskirts of his voice as Kirill held his gaze, unblinking. Ryan narrowed his eyes at the rookie, hoping to unnerve the younger man, but Kirill just lifted his free hand to wiggle his fingers in a suggestive wave, a smile just barely glancing his lips and a mischievous twinkle flickering in his eyes.
“Yes,” Kirill deadpanned, his Russian accent adding a lilt to every word as he hummed them out with a focused precision.
“Yes, am serious. Eat sprats... with tomato sauce. Little bit bread. It’s so good.” Kirill glanced briefly at the small tin that he held in his hand, tossing it up in the air and catching it again, his eyes darting between the airborne tin can and the now very nervous Ryan Suter standing in front of him.
Kirill’s serious tone and stoic demeanor would have had the team completely fooled if it weren’t for the barely-suppressed smirk that appeared on his face every time Suter looked away. As it was, the team fought off smiles of their own, opting instead for aloof glances and barely-there glares in Suter’s general direction.
Kirill looked back up at Suter expectantly, who, rather than meeting his gaze, was instead looking pleadingly at his teammates, frantically trying to communicate an S.O.S. signal with his eyes that no one cared to even look for.
“Zucc! Help me out here!” Ryan muttered, his eyes not leaving the tin in the rookie’s hand. He was now desperately trying to avoid sampling the dish that Kirill kept insisting was “so good.”
“Sorry Ryan,” Mats shrugged, not looking remotely sorry, the fucker. “You insulted his food, so it’s only fair you know what you’re insulting.”
Mats glanced at Kirill, who gave him an approving nod, and Mats almost imperceptibly puffed his chest, probably feeling rather proud of himself.
Ryan wasn’t quite sure what there was to be proud of, but to be fair, he did have bigger things to worry about at the moment, like, for example, the now present and almost overwhelmingly pungent smell of fish and tomatoes that accompanied the subtle scent of toasted bread.
Ryan let out one last “Zach, Please!”to the group of selective listeners that had wandered toward the rookie’s living room as the wafting smell of fish took over the kitchen.
Parise just looked over at him, and exhaled a noncommittal noise that said loud and clear that Ryan was on his own.
“fuuuuuuuuck!” Suter groaned as Kirill gently pushed the plate toward him, Ryan’s tastebuds already bracing for the crash landing that was just moments away from his mouth.
Kirill looked at Suter, then down at the plate, and then back at Suter, before nodding affirmatively and stepping back to watch the shitshow that was about to go down.
Ryan shuddered involuntarily and let out a whimper that, if you were to ask him about it, he would deny for the rest of eternity that that sound ever came out of him.
He hesitantly picked up the piece of bread, inspecting it carefully, for what, he wasn’t sure, before swallowing nervously and closing his eyes.
In the background, the entire team waited with baited breaths to see what unfortunate fate was awaiting their beloved, kwik trip enthusiast teammate.
Ryan held the sprats on toast up to his mouth, took a deep breath, imagined it was his favorite kwik trip dish, spicy chicken penne, and took a bite.
What followed after, well, it depends on who you heard the story from, I guess.
According to Parise, Suter immediately gagged and took off to the bathroom to empty his stomach of the fishy flavor.
In Ryan’s mind, he bravely chewed and swallowed at least a few bites, before courteously offering up the rest to the other members of the team, who were gone from the vicinity before Suter could even finish his sentence.
And according to Kirill? Well, let’s just say that Ryan never poked fun at the Russian’s choice of food again. But if you listen closely, sometimes you can still hear the faint whimpers of Ryan Suter, as he learned one valuable lesson that day.
Never mess with the Siberian Sniper.

"They only had wholewheat pasta."
Domine walks past and retches. Omnis pales.
"Are you sure, Facet?" Omnis is terrified by the prospect of eating wholwheat pasta.
"Did you get icecream?" Domine has their priorities . . . Odd.
"Yup. Wholewheat. They had normal Penne Lisci, but that stuff is awful. Oh, yeah, got the icecream. And the pads."
"Fuck this, get the pasta machine out. We're making pasta."
"I got kitchen roll too."

How Decathlon, Asos and Aldi are making their businesses more sustainable
Tumblr media
With sustainability now a priority for many shoppers, Top500 retailers are innovating to cut their carbon footprints. Asos, Decathlon and Aldi are the latest to unveil new initiatives.
Asos to deliver customers’ ‘preloved’ clothing to charity shops
Asos customers who are expecting a delivery from the retailer can opt to donate the clothes they no longer want to a charity shop using the DPD delivery service.
DPD ReLove got underway as charity shops reopened last week, with Asos offering it at launch. Shoppers can use the YourDPD app to donate their preloved clothing to one of five charities when they are expecting a DPD delivery. DPD then collects the parcel when they drop off the delivery, either from the customer or the customer’s prearranged safe place, and sends it on the charity, whether Scope, Marie Curie, The British Red Cross or more. The partnership aims to give shoppers a more responsible option to dispose of their secondhand clothing, diverting them from landfill.
Patrik Silén, chief strategy officer at Asos, says: “Our focus has always been on providing our customers with an outstanding retail experience, and a key element of that is giving them opportunities to shop with us more responsibly. We know that our customers are very active in donating their pre-loved clothing and that they see it as a great way of keeping products in use and out of landfill, so partnering with DPD on the ReLove initiative is a natural fit for us. We’re proud to be joining forces with the team to drive sustainable solutions and look forward to seeing our customers’ response over the coming weeks.”
Olly Craughan, DPD’s head of CSR says: “DPD leads the way on sustainability in the delivery space and I’m incredibly proud of the team for getting behind initiatives like this. We are continuing to invest in the decarbonisation of our fleet, but the challenge is about much more than just buying electric vehicles. We want to go a lot further. It is about pushing ourselves to look at every aspect of our operation to find the green alternative and the smarter way of doing things.
“ReLove is another way for us to help cut carbon emissions, reduce waste and raise money for charities at the same time. It is also great to team up with Asos on another really smart solution for their customers. We’re already delivering to these addresses, so it means one less trip and less miles travelled overall. The DPD app now has over nine million users, and it has become a really powerful tool for us. It plays a key role in helping us deliver a fantastic service for customers and it is driving innovation like this.”
Asos is a Leading retailer in RXUK Top500 research.
Decathlon Second Life
Decathlon is repairing and recycling used sports equipment for sale online and in its shops through its Second Life project. The retailer, ranked Top150 in RXUK Top500 research, will initially mean see technicians repair and refurbish project from bikes, scooters and fitness equipment to tents, before grading them between A (light marks) and D (replacement parts used) and selling them at a discount of between 10% and 40%. Decathlon hopes to save 40,000kg of CO2 in 12 months through the project.
Nick Connell, project leader of the Decathlon Second Life project in the UK, says: “Our planet is worth protecting and we all need to accelerate in taking action to reduce our environmental impact. As a business with big production demands we have to act now. By recycling, repairing and reusing products we’re adding another key action to our wider sustainability project.
"At the same time we need to fulfil our company purpose to provide everyone in the UK with access to happier and healthier lifestyles, whether that be physically or financially. Therefore Second Life will benefit both our planet and our customers’ pockets.”
Eric Mazillier, chief executive of Decathlon UK, says the move is “an important first step in the changing approach to our business model we are assessing what it really means to create value in society and our local communities.”
Decathlon UK sells online and through more than 40 shops. Its parent company was founded in 1976 in Lille, France.
  Aldi trials packaging-free products
Supermarket Aldi is testing whether its shoppers will buy staple products loose as it launches its first packaging-free groceries trial. Shoppers at its Ulverton, Cumbria shop can now buy basmati and brown rice, penne pasta, and wholewheat fusilli pasta loose. Customers can use free recyclable paper bags to take the staples away as the discount supermarket looks to see if there is any appetite for this way of selling. If there is, Aldi says it could remove more than 130 tonnes of plastic from its stores each year. Last year, it said it would halve its plastic packaging by 2025, removing 74,000 tonnes of packaging from products over the next five years.
Richard Gorman, plastics and packaging director at Aldi, said: “Customers at our Ulverston store can now buy the same high-quality items they know and love, while also cutting down on plastic packaging.
“We’re always looking for new ways to reduce waste plastic and limit packaging, as many of our shoppers are increasingly conscious of the environment and their impact on it. We hope local customers embrace the trial and we will use their feedback to inform any future plans around refillable products.”
Aldi, a Top50 retailer in RXUK Top500 research, says it has been carbon neutral since January 2019 and now aims to package its own label products in recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging by 2022, and branded products by 2025.

Pasta bowls are for those busy days where you need and extra portion of comforting goodness 😌. I used wholewheat penne, tomato sauce, zucchini, carrots, some leftover vegan bread spread, garlic, fresh basil and smoked tofu (would highly recommend!) 🌿. Not pictured but essential: Nutritional yeast to sprinkle on top! ✨

Mushroom & cauliflower penne  - Jamie Oliver
Note: Instead of doing penne you can do 3/4 C of lentils. This recipe makes enough for two portions and a small amount of leftovers for 2 people. Maybe double the amount if you want a substantial amount of leftovers.
Pretty easy for one person to make by themselves.
Ingredients
2 cloves of garlic
1 onion
1 fresh red chilli
15 g fresh thyme
250 g chestnut mushrooms
320 g cauliflower
olive oil
200 g wholewheat penne
15 g fresh flat-leaf parsley
100 g ricotta cheese
1 lemon
20 g Parmesan cheese
Directions
Fill a large pan with salted water, place on a high heat and bring to the boil.
Meanwhile, peel and finely slice the garlic and onion, then halve, deseed and finely slice the chilli. Pick the thyme leaves.
Trim and slice three-quarters of the mushrooms. Trim the cauliflower, remove and discard the leaves, then chop the cauliflower florets and stalk into small chunks.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wide saucepan on a medium heat, add the garlic, onion, chilli and thyme, then cook gently for 10 minutes, or until golden.
Add the sliced mushrooms and cauliflower, cover with a lid and cook gently for about 10 minutes, or until softened.
Meanwhile, add the pasta to the boiling water and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until al dente – this means it’s cooked, but still has a bit of bite.
Meanwhile, pick and finely chop the parsley leaves. Trim and very finely slice the remaining mushrooms.
Once softened, mash the cauliflower mixture with a fork until broken down, but still with a bit of texture. Stir in the ricotta, then season to taste with sea salt, black pepper and the juice from half the lemon.
Reserving a cupful of the cooking water, drain the pasta and return it to the pan, off the heat. Tip in the sauce and stir well, adding splashes of the cooking water to loosen, if needed. Taste and season with salt, pepper and the remaining lemon juice.
Stir in the sliced raw mushrooms, most of the Parmesan cheese and half of the parsley leaves. Serve with the remaining chopped parsley and cheese sprinkled on top.
