Chapter 336: Calls of Comfort
It took Tony, Phillip and Ted nearly an hour to get little Emily down for her nap, so all three were relieved as they tip-toed downstairs to talk.
“You still haven’t heard from Steph and Theresa?” Ted asked as they entered the library. “That is unsettling. When was the last time you spoke to them?”
“Last night,” Tony said, “but they were both pretty cryptic about what was going on. It seems they found Ruth alive and well, but I got the impression there was more going on than they would say. I tried calling them earlier, but couldn’t get through.”
“Well, if they’re in the desert, they probably don’t have cell service,” Ted said. “I’m sure they’re fine.”
“I hope so,” Phillip said. “But with those two, one never knows what messes they’ll find themselves in. They’re both too headstrong for their own good.”
“You’re telling me,” Tony said, shaking his head. “I should have gone with them. I’ll never forgive myself if something happens to either of them.”
Phillip’s phone began to ring. He glanced at the screen and grinned.
“Speak of the devil,” he said, answering the call. “Steph? Are you okay? I’ve been calling for hours.”
Tony’s phone rang as well, and he stepped away to answer it.
“Hey,” he said. “It’s about time you called back. Where have you been?”
Ted smiled as he watched both men slide into easy conversations with the women they loved. Yet he couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as he thought of Jackson. Torenth never seemed so far away as it did now.
Resolved, he stepped into the hall and dialed.
“Jack?” he asked. “No, everything’s fine. I just really needed to hear your voice. I really miss you.”
“I miss you, too,” Jack replied.
“So how was your trip?” Ted asked. “Sounds like you made it home okay.”
“Oh, the trip was fine,” Jack replied. “But the rest of the day was … interesting, to say the least.”
“What happened?” Ted asked.
Quickly, Jack described the meeting with his parents.
“So are you excited to be getting out on your own?” Ted asked. “You have to be glad about getting out from under your father’s thumb.”
“I’m warming up to the idea,” Jack replied. “Initially, I was worried about money, but the more I think about it, the less I think it’ll be an issue. After all, just think about all the money we’ll save on hotel rooms!”
Ted burst out laughing.

The one thing about Reese in phase 1 is that she didn't want to wear one spike bracelet and call it a day. She wanted to look like she was a spike strip and then some. She was never allowed to be herself around her family, because they were all rich preppy crunchy mom type people who basically BANNED anything sharp and then the color black. So yeah, Reese wanted to rebel of course. And given that she was able to spend more once she joined gorillaz, she would go all out. I'm talking even if it was in a practice session she'd be showing up like this.

Previous Post....
Rise n grind, sailors. It's time for Tiff.
Honestly, that coffin looks so comfy.
Woke her ass up while Captain sleeps on the couch downstairs.
As we do in this household, upon wake we must do our nightly inappropriate hissing. I've never really looked at her from the side like this, but yeah, still cute.
She woke up really pissed off and starts storming around the house. My vampires never really have to sleep in this game because I abuse the hell out of that Dark Meditation option, but I would assume this is a usual occurrence for Tiff when she gets out of bed.
Wakes up, then straight to the computer. #me
...even though Captain is terrified of it. I will never understand why it's the computer specifically that sets him off, because the TV is perfectly fine by him. It's probably a bug or some shit like that, but I cannonize that it's just a lil quirk that our pet has.
I gave Tiff a new fit and clicked on her coffin out of curiosity, and I deadass never knew that epitaphs were a thing on these things. She didn't have one on hers, and that wouldn't do...
I also didn't know that there were pre-written epitaphs that were randomized when you clicked the Engrave Epitaph option.
Can't beat the classics...
Tiff approves.
This gorgeous, randomly-generated creature showed up on our doorstep. Never met her before, but hey, free blood, so we invited her inside. I've mentioned this already, but I'm going through the process of making-over all the ugly townies to fit my liking. So I gave her a little re-do.
So, her name is Jordan. I didn't change her face or body at all; I only made her less awful, fashion-wise. I actually fell in love with her while I was doing her over. I think she might be ghoul material...
Tiff put her through an interview of sorts, and I think she approves. Jordan has the Outgoing and Party Animal traits, so I think that if we were to have her move in to the Vanderhall household, she could possibly bring over some snacks.
She's sweet, she's cool, she's thick as hell... as far as I'm concerned, she meets all the criteria for a potential ghoul.
And, she's willing to listen to Tiff go off about all her anger problems. I don't know about Tiffany, but I am completely sold on this woman.
Have you ever seen a vampire so sad despite the prospect of a potential unlimited bloodbag? I have, and now you have, too.

Chapter 333: A Historic Discovery (Pt. 2)
TW: This chapter includes a man being shot and the threat of death to others. If you would prefer not to view these images, simply reach out and I can provide you a summary.
Spinning, they faced three armed men. Ruth recognized the two men in back instantly as the men who had abducted her. The third – who was more recognizable to Theresa and Stephanie – stepped forward with a sneer.
“Inspector Valsan?” Theresa asked. “What are you doing here?”
“He’s here to stop us, Theresa,” Ruth said. “These are the men who kidnapped me.”
“It was unwise of you to run, doctor,” Valsan said, shaking his head. “You had to have known we’d find you.”
“But you’re an officer of the law,” Stephanie said.
“Yes, and an underpaid one at that,” Valsan replied. “However, this remarkable discovery will remedy that, your highness.”
“So you plan on taking all of it for yourself,” Ruth said, bitterly. “All of this treasure – which rightly belongs to the people of Egypt! It belongs in a museum – not private collections. But I guess that doesn’t mean anything to you, does it?”
“Not a thing, doctor,” Valsan replied. “I have spent my entire life in service to the people of Egypt, and as I approach retirement, I find that I have nothing to show for it. Nothing! The state owes me, after all I’ve done. And I mean to collect on that debt – one way or another.”
“But how did you find out about any of this?” Ruth asked. “I never told anyone about the amulet or the tomb!”
“Ah, but you did, doctor,” Valsan said.
Valsan slowly turned to look at Sullah, who grinned like a mischievous child.
“I’m sorry, old friend, but I’m getting older, too,” he said. “Too old to continue digging in the sand for much longer. When you told me of the amulet and your suspicions about the tomb, I thought this might be my only chance to retire in style.”
“Sullah,” Ruth said, stunned, as Sullah moved to join their captors. “How could you? I’ve known you for twenty-five years! I thought you were my friend!”
“Well, that was your mistake,” Sullah said, bitterly. “Look at all this, Ruth! Just one of these artifacts will allow me to live like a pharaoh myself for the rest of my life! So yes – I agreed to help Inspector Valsan. No one was supposed to get hurt. But you just couldn’t leave well enough alone, could you?”
“What do you mean by that?” Ruth asked.
“He means, doctor, that we cannot allow you or your young helpers to leave this place alive,” Valsan said.
“I would like to select my artifact and leave now, per our agreement” Sullah said, uncomfortably. “I do not wish to part of any murder.”
“Too late, Sullah,” Valsan replied. “You’re already a part of at least one, you see. For such a smart man, you were quite a fool to think I would let you live.”
Valsan turned the gun on Sullah and fired, point blank, at the man’s chest.
A look of shock spread across Sullah’s face, mirroring the growing blood stain on his chest. Then he collapsed to the floor, dead.
