I came here to msg you about something else but then saw your post about UA and THANK YOUUU! You said it so well that she being a talented writer who writes "empowered" women on the surface makes the problematic themes she sneaks in even more sinister. Anywz coming back, I always find the Mayapret videos so well directed/conceived no matter who shoots them. I mean they aren't groundbreaking or anything, but I find them so aesthetically pleasing and they all have a distinctive "look" to them.

IT'S ALWAYS COMPLICATED FOR ME WHEN IT COMES TO UA!!! like yes YES her sneaking in her own problematic propagandish themes in her writing genuinely puts me off but then she also is capable of writing some of the most beautiful and heart wrenching scenes and phrases that fully shake my brain. it isn't as evident in her screenplays as it is in her novels. i have stopped calling her my favorite writer long ago but i'd be lying if i say I don't immediately get a little excited when I see her starting a new novel. her dramas don't spark that interest for me.

honestly I feel Maya, after having worked with different designers over her career and modelling for their campaigns, has now found what aesthetic works. since Maya herself has creative control over what goes on Mayapret, she brings her own personal experience on the board and has the advantage of getting those people on board who are best able to translate what she wants for this brand to be. it's good. i like what MP does for itself.
