JSYK, the nun known as Mother Theresa was a horrible women who let people suffer and die to boost her own image. She received millions in donations but refused to upgrade her facilities. People suffering from curable illnesses were allowed to die. No doctors were on hand at her hospices, needles were reused, and the dying underwent forced baptisms. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
She ran her sect like a cult, and actually had the audacity to say: ""I think it is very beautiful for the poor to accept their lot, to share it with the passion of Christ. I think the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people."
She was essentially obsessed with how being around poor people made her look and barely used any of the money she received to help them. Nuns in her sect also suffered from cultish abuses. She's been treated as a saint because no one in the Catholic church looks to deep.
One of my hyperfixations is learning about the unusual ways that saints got martyred, but it's a little tough for me to remember them all. I might remember methods, but pairing them with names is more difficult.
Thus, I propose a "Gashlycrumb Tinies" adaptation with saints.
A is for Agatha, her chest laid bare
B is for Bartholomew, skin cut and pared
Not a polished rhyming scheme; just quick, off-the-top-of-my-head. [Agatha's breasts were cut off; Bartholomew was flayed alive.]
It might be tougher to fill the alphabet, like with X and Z. And I want to keep it to the martyred saints, as the rhymes will focus on their deaths/tortures. Some might get 2 lines, like Sebastian, because I love him so.
S is for Sebastian, tied up and skewered
Survived with Irene, then died in the sewers.
Or maybe each should get a couplet like that?
As for illustrations, I'll stick with public-domain illustrations from yester-year. My brain will make the connection easier with images that already exist. Plus, this is just for funsies, not for publication. (If I ever pair up with an artist and publish, they'd have to have the stomach for such ghastly scenes.)
“If I cannot see the brilliance of your Face or hear your sweet voice, O my God, I can live by your grace, I can rest on your Sacred Heart!”
St Therese of Lisieux
I believe this is post renaissance era Catholic religious painting of St. Theresa of Avila clutching the Crucifix during prayer. I don't know the name of the artist.

Maria was something of a control freak in life, though as a Servant, she's trying her best to get past this quirk of hers. Luckily, it was never so bad as to seriously strain her relationships with others, but even now, she has a tendency to grow less composed the more she loses control over a situation. Despite this, she doesn't externally show it, but it can be seen in how she'll make decisions more hastily without thinking them through, and how she'll rush to regain control, only to likely make things even worse.
This is the primary reason she's so intent on working past these tendencies of hers, as she's come to realize how detrimental having a desire to keep everything in check can be, as things can and will likely go wrong at some point, regardless of one's best attempts to prevent it.
