Reblogging to show off pictures of my bear, Since. She's a "Spanky" bear by Gund. The brown one is her twin, Gus, who was my mom's bear. They've been in the family for about 30ish years now.

I ended up with the "Memories to Cherish" Wink dress!
(Original post was from August 2014; my pic is from Jan 2015)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey, putting them all in one post today, with a link to my whole Etsy shop.
These all came from a craft panel with…uh…photo frames for quilts. (Apparently you’re meant to attach the quilted frames, along three sides, to the quilted quilt, then insert photos into those.  Yeah.)  As you can see, I attempted to turn “cloth picture frames” into “small border prints,” as well as using the ‘accent pictures’ for the Winks graphics.  And there was enough of the larger border print to make three different sizes (MH, Blythe/Pullip, and Fashionistas/Liv), which made me happy.
Hope you like these, too!

late-night-note - mouse trouble
I noticed my wireless mouse's clicky buttons weren't interpreting signals well tongiht, so I decided to open it up and shake out any debris. Yup, had a few choice dust bunnies just under the clicky bits. Easy fix!
Except... I had to move the scroll wheel to get to the bits. Dislodged that and the scroll-spring also came out. Pretty sure I faced this exact problem last summer. I distinctly remember looking up the solution on my phone, while the mouse was disassembled.
Pulled up the same tutorial, put the spring back in place. Uh, it's only hitting the rubbery edge and not the inner ratchet texture? Hm, maybe the wire got bent a bit wrong? Bendy wire, nope still not working. Maybe it needs to slide further over? Nope, that lets the spring sproing out of place.
Idk what else to do. Fussing around with the placement isn't getting me anywhere, even when I get it like the tutorial pictures. I can live without a scroll wheel. Hell, I didn't even have a right-click button when I first started using a computer! (Ye olde macintosh)
Here's the tutorial I used. I don't think mine is this exact model, but it's pretty close. There isn't a notch for the shorter leg of the spring to rest upon, so I just had it within that space. If someone wants to help, I can edit a pic to explain where things are.
Next step is to check my archive to see what solution I found. Otherwise, I'm shrugging it off for now. (Scrolling still works, just not precise)

Follow-up to my previous post
The fish fry thing was testing my patience, regarding irritating sensory stuff. The smell was starting to get to me, but the last straw was the live band starting up. Not as close to our window as last year, but still friggen close.
LL-J was the one who spoke up first about leaving early. A few minutes later, LL-K came in; she said our plan was a good one. (Also confirmed that she will help me with sewing later, yay.) We were out of there by 12:30pm. And we open at 10am, mind you.
We had a slight argument about the alarm, as we were leaving. The alarm covers certain interior rooms but not the front door. J argued the fish-people would take care of it, since they still were going in and out of the building. I said, "Fine, I'll call my dad to confirm and take care of it. You guys can leave first." Called, confirmed. I've resisted texting "I told you so" at LEAST 3 times, so I deserve a reward for that.
Came home, recapped the story with dad. My tone was very irritated, and I had to note that I was overwhelmed. There was a very good video I saw on yt that came to mind at that moment, relating to outward expression of frustration not equaling how a person feels internally, during an autistic meltdown/breakdown.

Prepared but wish I didn't have to be - April 27, 2024
There's a fish fry for a local org happening today. They're using the gym, but they have the cooking equipment set up right outside the wall that adjoins the library. Tons of people walking by outside, lots of chatter. I don't know if they'll have live music set up again, as it's not quite 10:30am.
It's so quiet and dead here most days. We're lucky if someone comes in to ask for directions; there's just no traffic in here and no demand from the community. So now the pendulum swings the other way. Eek!
I'm like 85% better than I was Tuesday. Little on-edge from the crowd and noise. But that's what headphones are for, right? Along with my "emotional support animal", Since.
If I feel better, I'll get back to last night's mending. If not, I'll stick with phone games all day.

middle-of-the-night notes - april 26-27, 2024
Ah shit, I just remembered the local fish people are doing their fish fry today (Saturday, April 27th). That means we'll get a crowd of people that stop by to check out the library. Really hoping they don't set up the live-music right outside my window again.
In other news, I made the foolish move of trying to sew with black thread on black fabric after dark tonight. Classic! Figured that fixing the holes on a thrifted band t-shirt would be a step towards the upcoming drawstring bag project. Like, a low-impact way to ease myself back into the crafting mindset.
Tumblr media
This shirt was bigger than the Gleamer shirt and less soft. Idk how those holes formed, as they seem more like cuts or snags than general wear. (Most are on one sleeve, but there was another on the back of the collar?)
Not giving a shit about how "bad" it might look, but not making them incredibly noticeable. I briefly considered stitching with neon-green thread, to match the graphic.
It's big enough to be a sleep-shirt, though I'd need to break it in a bit. I'll probably wear it out-and-about a couple times before it becomes pjs. Need to buy more pajama shirts, though, so I can cull my old stash of worn out Threadless shirts. ======
Waking up Friday afternoon, I was shaking a little bit; trembling, not like Tuesday's crunches. Did fine in the shower, thankfully; no dizziness. Still feeling like I need to be squished or pressed, especially my limbs. I tried running my hands up and down my arms, but then I kept pressing my muscles too hard with an unintentionally strong grip. Kinda felt bruised afterwards.
I'll probably still take Since (my bear) with me to the library again. I'm grateful that the library is so chill and casual.

God help me, I had the brief idea to do the celtic knot from the reverse-side of this pattern, as part of my current drawstring bag project.

Four of my Rainburst Embroidery biscornus front and reverse
I used the “compass” and “blue butterflies” patterns from Rainburst Embroidery on etsy. I probably should’ve flipped the butterfly one to show the reverse side, like I did with the others.

a small note of craft progress
Hookay, got the fabric for this upcoming pouch all ironed. Starting to think I chose the wrong liner fabric, because it easily gathers static and easily wrinkles. I do have another plain-white cotton, which is thinner and more dense than the evenweave fabric I'll be stitching on.
When I sew the panels together, I think I'll ask LL-K to do it for me, on her sewing machine. It's such a quick project, if I were more fluent and practiced in sewing skills, particularly with a machine. My skill-set is more the embroidery, really.
As I ironed the fabric, I kept thinking it'd still be fine to do regular embroidery, rather than cross stitch. Thing is, if I deviate from my plan, it's just the craft equivalent of "plot bunnies". Keeping my brain focused is reeeeally tough.
I've promised myself that I can do the Urban Threads Talisman designs for myself. (I already have the crescent and hamsa printed out, but the medallion and feathers are tempting, too.) If I'm still feeling regular-stitchy after the triple stress of finishing this project, then I'll "treat" myself.
Aside from a potential "treat", I only have one other "negotiation" with myself: if I can't finish it by the 8th, I will send it by mail, even though I really don't want to do that.
I'm a little light-headed and sweaty, after working with the iron. Will likely jump in the shower sometime later today. Need to work on putting away clean laundry soon, too.

daily notes - april 25, 2024
Went to bed by 3:30am, woke around noon-ish; up and medicated after 1pm. Returned to bed for a nap around 3-something. It just gets sleepy around here at that time of day.
Working on some hand-washing laundry tonight. Washed the outer fabric for my drawstring bag. Lining fabric wasn't dusty, so it's waiting to be ironed with the outer fabric. Slipper socks and tights are now drying; "professional" bra is soaking. (That's like, proper underwire, for when I really need to look nice. It's the best-fitting one I have, and it's still not perfect. Oof.)
Moscow caught a field mouse in the living room, paraded it to the kitchen and back, then let it go again. It ran off, so I'm waiting for it to reappear. Like previous years, I'll catch it with the cup-and-magazine method. The living room's overhead lights are on, so I can see, but boy they hurt. I like living in my dark cave at night. Night is best, because the lights are less noisy.

daily notes - april 24, 2024
Good counseling today. Mainly confirming how I put all my coping techniques into practice. I said, it's like a practical test to apply all the theory I've learned over the years. I did pick up that I've had more days of needing my bear (Since) at the library with me, feeling tired and touch-sensitive as well.
After being so wound-up yesterday and on-edge for counseling, I didn't bother going to bed until sometime this afternoon. A few hours of sleep, but I'm still wound-up. Still using coping strategies: I'm squishing my Woolrich sweater in my hands a lot tonight.
Tidied up the living room a tiny bit - mainly picking up trash. Found my phone case that I misplaced; it was between couch cushions. Found the fabric for the embroidered drawstring bag; will wash that by hand soon, then iron it and the lining fabric.
Also found the slicker brush I bought specifically for use on stuffed animals. Brushed some of Since's fur, and the difference is pretty amazing. She needs to be washed again; her paws have accumulated dirt from all the hand-holding. Need to adjust her stuffing, too; needs more in the booty area, as it had mostly settled in the chest/torso.
Next appointment is almost a month from now. Now that I've got a much better handle on my stresses, the longer time between appointments is perfect. And like I've said before, it gives me more time to sort out my thoughts.
