All LGBTQIA+ Sing Characters Headcanons
Out of all 63 canon characters that we actually get to know a bit about, I headcanon 55 of them are LGBTQIA+. Why? One, why not, two, they told me themselves, and three... this is legitimately a franchise about theatre kids, of course majority are gonna be fruity.
Anyways, here we go!
---------------------------------
Meena Amari - Bisexual Trans Woman (She/Her)
- publicly came out two years before Sing 1 and her family was extremely supportive
- was a member of a LGBTQ+ support club when she was in school
Darius Andeno - Unlabled (He/Him)
- honestly just never has tried to labeled his sexuality and is too lazy to start now
- dating Harry for around a year and a half at the time of Sing 2
Hobbs Atene - Omnisexual (He/Him)
- happily married to his spouse with three kids
- was the first person Eddie ever came out to as a kid
Ash Batalla - Bisexual Demi-Girl (She/They)
- came out to her bio family as a teenager which went horribly
- has coached several others in the troupe through identity crises
Mike Bianchi - Biromantic (He/Him)
- so deep in the closet that he’s in Narnia at this point
- legit thinks everyone is like this she is wrong)
Nancy Bianchi - Graysexual (She/Her)
- didn’t really understand her own identity until she started doing research in case her future kid/s came out
- also legit thought everyone is like this (she was also wrong)
Clay Calloway - Bisexual Trans Masc (He/They)
- one of the first public LGBTQ+ rockstars
- has gotten into fights protecting queer fans from protestors
Ruby Calloway - Pansexual Trans Woman (She/Her)
- she and Clay are the og T4T couple in this series
- worked as a marketing agent almost exclusively with young queer artists
Jimmy Crystal - Bisexual (He/Him)
- tied with Mike for the character with the most internalized homophobia
- was the only one at Crystal Entertainment to not know about Jerry’s crush
Porsha Crystal - Gender Questioning Pansexual (She/Her)
- came out as a younger teenager to her dad’s bodyguards first as “practice”
- started questioning her gender during the Majestic run of Out of This World
Barry Frost - Bisexual (He/Him)
- was outed as a young teenager and was bullied a lot
- he was the first of the gang to realize that Johnny was queer
Norman Harrison - Biromantic (He/Him)
- he and Rosita both came out in college and to each other first
- pan4bi Rosita and Norman is so important to me idk
Gunter Järvinen - Aromantic Homosexual Trans Man (He/Him)
- came out as a kid and transitioned before moving to the US
- genuinely gets confused and slightly worried when someone tries to describe romantic attraction to him
Klaus Kickenclobber - Gay (He/Him)
- been out for years
- that’s all you’re getting because that’s all I thought of
Suki Lane - AroAce (She/Her)
- realized she was AroAce as a teen but just didn’t come out for a few years due to her family not being accepting
- when she did come out, her honorary cousins pointed out that she dressed like the AroAce flag, which they found way funnier than she did
Buster Moon - Gay Trans Man (He/Him)
- he came out as a young kid and his dad was super supportive
- has been dating Eddie since university
Charley Moon (Buster’s Dad) - Greyromantic (He/Him)
- did not realize he was greyromantic til he was in his 50s
- another prime example of “but everyone’s like this”
Eddie Noodleman - Bisexual (He/Him)
- came out to his family as a university student after coming out to Hobbs as a teen
- legit flipped a coin with Buster to see who would propose
Nana Noodleman - Asexual Lesbian (She/Her)
- she was pretty open with her identity her entire career and was well known for not taking any kind of harassment at her shows
- adopted her daughter on her own in her 40s
Harry Ocheing - Intersex Gay (They/He)
- came out as a kid to their siblings
- super supportive of other performers when they come out
Nooshy Peart - Genderfluid Lesbian (They/She)
- came out as a teenager and left home right after, bit is still in contact with her siblings who are supportive
- Marcus was the first supportive parent they ever had
Rosita Pèrez-Harrison - Pansexual (She/Her)
- came out to her college friends before anyone else
- buys all the troupe pride gear if they want or need any
Stan Phillips - Unlabled (He/Him)
- decidedly unlabeled and happy about it
- he protected Barry from bullies when they were kids, which is how they met
Alfonso Romano-Hassan - Biromantic (He/Him)
- did not realize he was biromantic until talking to Meena about her being bi a few months into dating
- the creator of bi wife energy lets be honest
Mizuki Satō - Nonbinary Lesbian (They/She)
- moved states away from their family after coming out in their twenties
- she has a long term girlfriend of three years
Jerry Swell - Gay (He/Him)
- came out in his late 20s
- had a crush on his boss since he started working for him
Johnny Taylor - Gay Demi-Boy (He/They)
- came out to his family a few months before Sing 2 despite the closet being made of glass with no doors for years
- found out that he was legit the last person to know he was gay out of his entire family
Marcus Taylor - Demisexual (He/Him)
- figured out that he was demisexual after researching how to be more supportive of Johnny
- married an omnisexual woman and was a very vocal ally since he was a teen
Ryan Willis - Gay (He/Him)
- came out to his moms as a really young kid and legit forgot about it until he tried to come out years later and they just said that they knew already
- had a crush on Johnny since meeting him but actually hid it for several months pretty well
Garry Wishmann - Asexual Trans Man (He/Him)
- came out in his late teens
- owns a ton of pun centered asexual shirts

Well This Looks Pretty Damn Cool!
youtube
At long last... NIMONA, visually in motion! And a concrete release date, too. June 30th. Same day as DreamWorks' RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN, which will be rolling in theaters. I wish we could this very gorgeous and dynamic-looking picture on the big screen too, but... Oh well...
Anyways, not much for me to say other than it looks every bit as cool as I imagined. Another CG-but-painted-looking movie, with some very smooth work and such a cool look. It looks way more like a classic 2D animated picture, or a really painterly indie game.
Arriving now, this picture was about 3/4 done in animation before the studio it originated from, Blue Sky Studios, was shut down by The Walt Disney Company's former CEO. I'd like to think a lot of what we're seeing here was laid down in 2020/early 2021, so in a way, it was doing some neat stuff before other neat stuff came out. Namely THE MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES, ARCANE: LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, and PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH. The picture was in the works for a while, too, under FEAST director Patrick Osborne at first (later taken over by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, of SPIES IN DISGUISE), and I'd assume it was always aiming for this kind of look, pre-SPIDER-VERSE even.
It's also refreshing to see a big-time animated movie with more of a, shall I say... Mischievous bent to it? Not quite moral protagonist, for starters, and that's on full display here in the trailer... if the first-look images released in the lead-up to this trailer's release didn't already spell it out for you. That smile of hers just got more and more (delightfully) devilish with each new image. That's good, we need more variety in PG-level stories. Nothing wrong with protagonists who are a little bit on the bad side. Worked okay enough for DESPICABLE ME and MEGAMIND. From the graphic novel synopsis, it seems like it's going to be a very subversive take on good and evil, if the law is actually right or not (very timely, I'd say), etc. Maybe our leads aren't so bad after all, I've got some reading to do!
I still consider this to be a Blue Sky movie, their final film - partially... A bittersweet coda to their long existence. The movie was 75% done before the plug was pulled, and reports have said that the crew did NOT start from scratch after production resumed... and I'd imagine a lot of what was finished was kept in the movie despite some things I've heard it about being significantly retooled after Annapurna and Netflix picked it up. I'd imagine there were some things the directors and writing team could get away with there that they couldn't under Disney. There were reports from former Blue Sky crew members that Disney higher ups did push back on things in the movie. Keep in mind, Disney was going to release Pixar's LIGHTYEAR without the lesbian kiss - a barely second-long scene, until they faced pressure due to the former CEO's initial support of that wet-sandwich Florida governor's draconian anti-LGBTQIA+ nonsense. STRANGE WORLD, as we all know, was straight up dumped with very muted fanfare. NIMONA's poster curiously lists Robert L. Baird and Lloyd Taylor as the writers. Years prior, the movie was being written by Marc Haimes, a writer on Shannon Tindle's meditative Laika wonder KUBO & THE TWO STRINGS. (Just so you know, that picture was largely taken away from him.) Haimes is credited as "Story by", including a curiously large amount of people including the two screenwriters and the two directors, in addition to two other people: Pamela Ribon and Keith Bunin... That's... Quite a lot of writers on this one.
Either way, I'm excited nonetheless. Forward-thinking visuals, LGBTQIA+ representation, a seemingly new kind of story for this animated feature format, something a little edgier... Might just be "the one that got away" from Disney, may even cost them their usual Oscar win come this winter. I will consider this film to be Blue Sky's swan song, I hope they get some kind of mention in the credits...
Speaking of Disney... Not cool that they're flat-out removing movies and shows from Disney+, amidst a writer's strike, and some with LGBTQIA+ themes and content... Right before Pride Month. I don't understand why removing something they made and/or own from a service, and having it not be available anywhere else, helps anybody. Them, or the market... At the very least, they can put some of these movies, such as the Howard Ashman documentary HOWARD, on physical media. Nasty side effects of what David Zaslav did to Warner Bros.' library and all the content purges happening under his leadership there. Capitalism, how you don't make any sense...
Somewhere buried in all the Cannes Film Festival news is the selling of an animated feature called THE GROWCODILE, a little romp about a young girl hiding her ever-growing pet croc from her shoe store-owning father, and the adventure she goes on with her grandfather to give the animal a new home. It's based on a book, and will be directed by Cartoon Saloon veterans Joost Van Den Bosch and Erik Verkerk.
What else? Awkwafina has been cast in KUNG FU PANDA 4... Apparently. I'm not sure how reputable "The Hollywood Handle" is, a site I've barely ever heard of... but if she's onboard, I wonder who she will be voicing. She was, after all, in DreamWorks' own THE BAD GUYS as Ms. Tarantula. The villainous Chameleon is said to be a female character, so I wouldn't be surprised if she plays the main antagonist in this. From bad guy to really bad guy.
That's pretty much all the big animation news I can think of, but... Yeah... NIMONA, finally around the corner, and we finally get to see how it actually moves and plays out...

Hi! I love your writing and I wanted to know if you could do one where the reader is trans masc and their dad is aizawa And no of 1a knows (except aizawa) until someone who went to school with them starts bullying them, and publicly outs them. And so aizawa makes a really big deal, and accidentally mentions that the reader is his kid, But everyone in 1a supports them and are more shocked when they find out their dad is aizawa. Thank you!!!! I know it's weird I just want validation tbh (´-﹏-`;)
Hi hi hi !! I wasn’t sure if this ask requested male pronouns (bc of the use of the word ‘trans masc’) or GN pronouns (bc of the use of the word ‘they’ across the request) feel free to educate me on that!! But for now, I used Male Pronouns!
——————
Platonic! Aizawas trans male kid gets outed
⚠️warnings - mentions of outing, deadnaming, me antagonizing shindo bc haha I needed a bad guy-
Pronouns - male, he/him

Loading off the bus, (Y/n) stretched his arms and let out a huff. He rubbed at his eyes, and activated his quirk slightly to see if it still worked. It wasn’t like it was going to go away, but it became habit to see if he could still do it after a long time or not. A useless habit, you could say.
Though, it was important he still had his quirk, since today was the day he was going to take the Provincial Licensing Exam. Along with his classmates.
(Y/n) strolled around the area, being sure not to stray too far away from his own class and bus. There seemed to be many schools here. Most of them, upperclassmen. (Y/n) swallowed the lump in his throat and stalked up to Kirishima to calm his nerves.
Kirishima spotted him, giving him a curt slap on the back. (Y/n) coughed, adjusting his hero costumes chest area.
“Yo! Aren’t you excited for this thing? Whaddya think we’re gonna do?”
(Y/n) let out a timid laugh, his voice noticeably deep, but almost borderline androgynous. Like he was trying to force it to go lower than it naturally was. An ear perked up from somewhere behind (Y/n). “Yeah, I’m getting kinda pumped u-“
“Well-I certainly wasn’t expecting you to be here.”
That sickeningly sweet voice made (Y/n) scrunch up his nose. He didn’t turn around. Nevertheless, the voice kept going. “Eh, well, that’s a lie. Your face was practically plastered everywhere on tv.”
“Tell me-how’s it feel to go to the famous UA, Sayaka-chan?”
(Y/n) kept his eyes fixated on the ground, still facing Kirishima as he looked between the two, confused.
“Uh-I think you got the wrong guy, dude. This dudes well...a dude.”
“Mm?” The boy was taken aback, before smirking and leaning next to (Y/n’s) ear. He said, rather loudly, “You didn’t tell them, Sayaka?”
“Shut up, Shindo.” (Y/n) voice was quiet. It wasn’t as deep as it was ‘normally’, but it sounded very much less strained. Kirishima seemed to catch on, though he said nothing, out of respect. Though, Shindo did the exact opposite.
“Don’t be so rude, Yaka-chan! I’m just saying hi to my old friend!” Shindo turned to Kirishima, as the UA students started noticing their little show. That-and a scruffy man, who was now completely ignoring what Ms Joke was saying to turn his ears on hyperfocus. “Don’t mind her. I guess she’s on her period today or something.”
“Ne-what’s happing here? Do you know (Y/n)-kun or something?” Mina said. (Y/n) cringed at hearing his name. He knew Shindo was going to say it. Don’t say it. Don’t-
“(Y/n)? That’s the name Sayaka-chan goes by these days?”
His seemingly friendly smile made (Y/n) want to puke. Mina titled her head. “Sayaka? You probably have the wrong person. This is (Y/n).”
Shindo turned to (Y/n), his dirty, smug glare being hidden behind a innocent, confused smile. “You really didn’t tell them, Sayaka?”
Shindo took a deep breath in. (Y/n) pursed his lips. “Don’t fucking-“
“Sayaka here,” Shindo slung an arm around the boy. “She’s a crossdresser. She’s ‘trans’. Isn’t that great?”
(Y/n) noticeably stiffened, biting his lip harshly and keeping his eyes pointed harshly at the ground like it was the only way to keep tears from flowing. He clenched his knuckles in embarrassment.
Before (Y/n), Mina, or Kirishima could say something, a hunched over, dark figure placed a hand on Shindo’s shoulder. His nice boy smile dropped. Aizawa, uncharacteristically, looked like he was seething.
“Shindo. Kid. Get away from my son. Before I find your teacher.”
Kirishimas eyes widened while Mina gasped. Son? Shindo bit back a snarl. He smiled irritably and put his sweet tone back on. “What? I’m just talking to Sayaka-chan-“
“His name is (Y/n). If you really want to be a hero, I suggest not being a nuisance to my son or any of my students.” Aizawa grumbled.
Shindo scoffed. “I’m sorry I offended you, mr...scruffy man. I’m not sure which son you’re talking about, though. Don’t you have a daughter-?”
Aizawa reached for his capture weapon, eyes glaring a Ruby red. Shindou was about to lurch forward when Ms Joke stepped in between the two. She huffed, turning to Shindo first.
“Shindo-kun, should you be changing into your hero costume about now? Go do that! The class already went ahead without you!”
Shindo gasped, his persona back on like a mask. “Oh! That’s right! I’m sorry Miss! See you guys! Do your best!”
Shindo turned to (Y/n), in a low whisper. “See you, Sayaka.” And timpered off. Ms Joke turned to Aizawa.
“And you!” She put her arms on her hips. “Just because your kid’s being teased a bit doesn’t mean you have to reach for your weapon!”
Aizawa seemingly let go of his scarf he’d been clutching for a while now. His hair flopped down and framed his face once more. “He wasn’t teasing. He’s been bullying my son since his 2nd year of middle school.”
(Y/n) was awkwardly standing behind Aizawa. Since they had no intention of bringing him in personally to the conversation, he shoved his hands into his pockets. It was then he noticed the majority of 1A staring at him.
He paled. Flashbacks of Shindo publicly outing him whipped by his mind, along with the way he hid his disgusted glare when he came out as trans initially in his 2nd year of middle school. It was his third year and (y/n’s) second year, Shindo being one of (y/n’s) closest friends until he became a ‘crossdresser’.
Were his new UA classmates going to to treat him the same? Would all the girls and boys be hesitant to undress themselves with him nearby, because he’s a “lesbian/girl perving on the guys”? Was he going to have to mend all of these relationships from the start again? A bottomless pit dug into his stomach. He didn’t want that.
Stagnant air filled the atmosphere as everyone stared at (y/n). Already thinking of excuses, explanations, anything, he opened his mouth to speak.
“I-“
“You’re Aizawa’s son?!” Kaminari yelled, pointing a finger at (y/n). (Y/n) blinked, letting out a confused “eh?”
Mina popped in, flailing her arms in the air like Iida, but less stiff. “Dude! That’s so cool! You think you can tell him to round my 48 into a 90 from last weeks quiz?!”
Slowly but surely, his classmates started crowding around him, all talking at once. There were “Ohh-I can see the resemblance now!”s and “dude how are you still alive?!”s. Everyone seemed to forget what Shindo was talking about.
(Y/n) stood silent. “You guys...aren’t going to mention it?”
Most everyone stopped talking. Sero stepped forward. “Does it really matter? Your still our classmate, man. Plus, Aizawas your fuckin’ dad.”
Murmurs of agreement mused out from the surrounding crowd of UA students. (Y/n) smiled, attempting to answer every question about him or Aizawa as possible.
Ms Joke whistled from far away. Aizawa sleepily lolled his head towards her away from watching his son carefully, seeing if any students acted rudely in anyway.
“So your class didn’t know he was...y’know.”
“Mm.” Aizawa hummed. “Though, they seem to be more interested in him being my son than him not being ‘born a son’. M’glad that they’re bothering him instead of me. But knowing them, they’ll probably ask me some things after the exam.”
“I’m not meaning this in any mean way, but,” Ms Joke was oddly serious. “How are you so fine with this...change? It’s not like I’m saying it’s wrong, no, but you accepted it rather quickly and his transition happened pretty much overnight.”
“Does it really matter if he’s a boy or a girl or not? He’s still a pain in the ass. You don’t need a specific gender to be a problem child. As long as he’s keeping up with hero training and classes, I don’t really care.”
Aizawas eyes betrayed his words. They were dry, as usual, but they observed his students every move, every word they throw at his kid like he was stalking his prey. Like he was subtly saying “Say one misgendering thing, and I’ll expel you.”
In the end, Aizawa was a big softie. His child was happy, and that was fine by him. And, he’s less to deal with when he’s happy. His words, not mine. Ms Joke sighed, knowing her answer, and faced forward.
“Go out with me!”
“Go to hell.”

I think you've mentioned this before but thinking more about it now, it really is a shame most of the villains are disabled so the two disabled heroes spend more time beating them up/acting as foils rather than talking about their experiences and finding solidarity. A talk between Yang and Ironwood in early V7 would've been nice, at the very least.
Agreed. Fans are right to point out that RWBY's disability rep is more complicated than a blanket "All the bad guys are disabled while none of the heroes are so that's bad" situation, but including some version of representation isn't the same way as writing that rep well. If it were, we'd all be satisfied with a Word of God announcement that dead Pilot Boi was gay, a hastily redeemed, would-be murderer of our protagonist's parents lesbian, two background queer women who disappeared, a wink from Clover before he's killed off, and the seemingly endless teasing of Blake/Yang. As the queer rep attests, sometimes including sprinkles can feel worse than getting nothing at all, simply because you understand that the writers understand that diversity is meant to be there... but they're clearly not willing to commit to it. That's how I'm feeling about RWBY's disability rep now. You would have gotten a very different response from me back in Volume 3-6, when Yang was having her arc (messy as it was in places), Ironwood was still a good guy, and Maria was poised to be Ruby's beloved, significant mentor. Yet now, many fans point to these characters without considering where they've ended up: Yang viewing her arm as "extra," Ironwood a bad guy whose villainy was visually depicted through his lost arm, Maria a useless character who was so forgotten by the narrative we never even got confirmation of whether she's alive - and not in a deliberate, cliffhanger manner. Same with Pietro. Penny's android body was stripped away and then she was murdered, again. Cinder remains as crazy-evil as she was before, rejecting that glimpse at development. Mercury has been shuffled off to Vacuo. Who are we left with in the main story? Neo? There's a reason why the fandom is unironically worried that she'll suddenly be able to speak during Volume 9.
RWBY was never blazing a trail for disability rep, but there was a point where it was doing a whole lot better than it is now. Yes, there were always problems - such as many fans' anger and discomfort over Tai's comments - but we didn't use to have a story where disability was deliberately used as a marker of evilness, where it was denied or erased in the heroes to separate them from that supposed taint, and the rest of the disabled cast was either forgotten or written out of the story. A talk between Yang and Ironwood would have been fantastic, something I expected given that he's the one who gave her the arm... but that talk would have required a version of RWBY that isn't currently treating disability as something to be ashamed of. I thought we had that story, years ago, yet Volume 8 thoroughly proved me wrong. Having Yang and Ironwood connect over their shared trauma would have necessitated an empathy for Ironwood the story outright rejected, as well as an acceptance of diversity that no longer exists. I really don't care about the allusions RWBY is supposedly following (they're not), because intention aside, Penny's arc was a complete rejection of physical difference. She "had" to become human to achieve happiness - no matter that she never expressed a desire for that, that there were other ways to save her, that she died anyway - and combined with Yang's rejection and the overt - reaffirmed by Word of God - writing that Ironwood's disability is what made him into a monster... how else are we supposed to take that collection of choices? That RWBY supports diversity? Far from it. A talk between Ironwood and Yang, oh so sadly, belongs to a version of RWBY that didn't reject diversity for uniformity and wasn't using disability as another cheap way of showing supposed evilness. This design was always meant to be something we shied away from, feared, and found distasteful. Given where RWBY has ended up, where they were planning to go all along in these last two volumes (if their comments are to be believed), I'm not at all surprised we missed out on those conversations. It's the antithesis of the message they were pushing, whether they consciously realized it or not: that difference is no longer something to celebrate.

Queen Glory of the RainWings
Ye of terrible governmental implications! The replacement Dragonet of Destiny, her Majesty of the Rain Forest, and who knows what else. There’s a lot to be said about Glory, a victim of abuse, a part in the cycle of violence, and the child who knew better than an entire queendom of dragons. Glory is an unfortunate character, both personally and in the story as a whole.
I have a lot of opinions about Glory. Bless yourself upon them if you deserve so.
Design Headcanon
Despite appearing colorful and bright, especially among her fellow dull scaled siblings, her scales are much plainer than a traditional RainWing’s. Most of which tend to have terribly neon scales correlating with their emotions. Glory tends to have disgusted green and irritable red scales reflecting her mood. The yellow is simply an accent, but mistaken by her subjects as muted amusement. Her scales easily flinch along to her emotions, but she finds that showing these colors gains the respect of her subjects, rather than lose it like she did with the guardians, who never truly did pick up on what these colors meant.
Glory has inspiration from a few different animals. Chameleons are out of the way. She also has a similar “beak” to a swan, a dark area on her face that she simply can’t change the color of. She also has dexterous claw talons, excellent for gripping onto trees or delicate dexterity. And the oddest thing about RainWings is that they initially appear wingless, similar to a draco lizard. RainWing ribs expand and and glide rather than the intense flying that most dragons do, which made her appear weaker than her fellow dragonets of destiny. She always keeps her wings flared, which is risky and makes her underside vulnerable, but it was better than being called a wingless serpent by her guardians.
Glory is a very cautious individual. She doesn’t walk until she knows where she’s going. She won’t begin to walk until she’s sure she can get there confidently. Glory is surprisingly prideful and avoids not to waste her breath, even if she chooses the wrong battles to fight.
Implication of Heritage
If I were to write Glory, I would completely boot out the idea that Glory was biologically destined for the throne. The whole moment where Grandeur spills her guts and explains the whole narrow-minded royal blood idea, that was stupid. Because it implies that all overcoming of adversity will be rewarded with the fact that all those who deserve it will be rewarded with their desires, not for hard work they used to achieve those goals, but simply because they’re supposed to.
Instead, I would make Kinkajou a convenient character in the scene to have a moment of importance, but it doesn’t mean she’ll be the new queen. But I’ll get to that later on. Grandeur will recognize Glory’s selfless and initiative as the prime reason she is more deserving to be queen. The idea that she’s fighting so desperately to help the NightWing prisoners, and that’s reflected by how she puts away the chance to win the Queen Competition for the life of this little dragonet.
Glory should have been Queen through initiative and new perspective, not the idea that she was “smarter” than the RainWings or that the RainWings were too “lazy” to have a functioning leader. She should have been a respectable character who overcomes her biting remarks to be truly selfless, put aside her needs and desires to help this tribe. Be the leader that Sunny would look up to.
Miscellaneous Thoughts
Glory doesn’t honestly get the proper respect as a grumpy character considering the trauma she’s went through and considering her entire life has been ruined as those who raised her repeatedly told her she shouldn’t exist and that they ought to kill her. Not as an empty threat! The acceptance of her situation seemed so understated (until it was revealed she had a plan) and no one really respects that she had the shortest end of the stick compared to the other Dragonets of Destiny.
Along with that, I feel like it’d be interesting if Glory had an innate distrust or fear or SOMETHING of SkyWings. After being berated by a SkyWing guardian, being meant to be a SkyWing her whole life, Clay unintentionally claiming Peril as the missing SkyWing, and being prisoner and biggest prize of Queen Scarlet of the SkyWings, I don’t see why she wouldn’t be a little more afraid or hostile in a scenario with one.
One headcanon of mine is that Glory has narcolepsy, a byproduct of not getting enough sun as a sun dependent tribe. She frequently lost control of her muscles during sparring practice with Kestrel, leading her to slither helplessly and worsen her image. She pardoned her sleepiness through consistent naps Under the Mountain, but it became harder to excuse after they left the mountain. Once the sun hit her scales on the marble tree in Scarlet’s clutches, she finally gave in and slept for a majority of that time, otherwise overwhelmed and unable to move. Unfortunately, along with classic form of narcolepsy, Glory also has hallucinations. She often interprets her hallucinations as Kestrel or Queen Scarlet, long after their deaths. Despite denying special treatment as the RainWing Queen, she does give into sun times to satiate the urge in her to rest.
Narcolepsy is also described as being triggered by high surges of emotion. Another reason why Glory does her best to suppress her emotions, to stay in control of her consciousness.
It can negatively affect relationships with other people by being triggered during these surges of emotion and as a result, Glory is not quite as emotionally connected to her siblings as the others are. As the consequences of the war subsides, she wishes to try making up for lost time and finally respond to her narcolepsy instead of be frustrated and angry with it.
Glory’s reign of the Rain Forest Queendom is characterized not by her inherent intelligence over the other RainWings. In fact, a majority of the beginning of her rule is learning the rich history and important traditions of RainWings from Duke Handsome. Due to her unfamiliarity with oral history, her first order is to try and record as much history and as many orders as possible to keep the RainWings’ respect and learn about her own culture.
As well as that, Glory steels herself, with the sympathy of her siblings, Prince Jambu, Duke Handsome, and the other Queens, when ruling the NightWings. So easily could she take out her anger on these innocent victims of their own actions. But in the end, she learns it’s more important to be the bigger person and move forward in peace, not dwell in hatred.
Despite that, Glory is still apprehensive before directly meeting with SkyWing figures such as Queen Ruby.
Glory and Tsunami probably have the closest relationship out of any of the other Dragonets of Destiny. Tsunami looks up to Glory as a queen and Glory makes fun of her lack of royal blood for it. Tsunami, after apprenticing with General Shark, also assists in the disciplining and order in the Rain Forest Queendom. Tsunami, Sunny, and Glory are the main royalty figures establishing a fairer justice system in the Rain Forest so there are no more Chameleons and that individuals like Mastermind have a place to go.
LGBT+ Headcanons
Glory, for a large part of the story we see her, is probably questioning her orientation. She’s never felt the right to be loved and never been able to emotionally connect with anyone enough to feel worthy of affection. Eventually, she comes out as a lesbian! Proudly leading her two tribes with acceptance and understanding. The Rain Forest proudly leads the largest Pride Parades with the SandWing queendom following closely behind. (Which means Deathbringer x Glory is not canon in my headcanons! He can ROT.)
Glory is also a trans woman! She did not embrace it easily with the role models she had growing up. She had always been told she was born incorrectly (for OTHER reasons, but it’s for the metaphor), but with the unconditional support from her siblings, especially her solidarity with Starflight, she was able to come to terms with her identity and be even more prideful because of it. Fully taking her destiny and her life into her own talons has empowered her more than anything after the events of the SandWing War of Succession.

Name: Elizabeth Donnelly
Status: Alive
Type of Relationship: Extremely close
Occupation: Bureau Chief ADA later became a judge.
Background:
While she hated her marriage to James Staton, only do it to fit societal norms at the time and the pregnancy wasn’t planned nor truly wanted at the time…Sam was the best thing to every happen to her. Liz never knew you could love someone so much until she held her child for the first time, right then and there she swore nothing would ever happen to this child as long as it was in her power to stop it.
By the time Sam was five, the divorce was happening. James had caught small instances of Sam “not being normal” and had taken action which led to Liz wanting to kill the man when she found out. Her child was more important than what the world would think of two high old families getting a divorce.
While she appeared married to her work from that point on, those who truly knew her—knew Sam was the center of her world. Always making sure to be home in time to tuck Sam in no matter how late it meant she’d be up or how early she’d have to wake to finish her work. Being a single mother, as she’d finally won full custody, and being in the DA’s office wasn’t easy. Every sporting event or school event, Liz found a way to be there. While she would have loved to have Sam take her last name, she knew having the Donnelly name would put a target on her child’s back—especially with how Liz was climbing rank quickly in the DA’s office.
Sam grew up around lawyers and spent a lot of time in the DA’s office, doing homework or studying in Liz’s office. While most would find it distracting, Liz more than loved having Sam with her. By the time Sam was ten she knew more than a graduate law student did about the system and inner workings of it.
By fifteen Sam knew for a fact so much was wrong with their body. Liz knew much sooner than the child had ever admitted to her. Most would think the woman would flip as her husband had but that promise the day Sam was born caused her to be extremely supportive and taking the journey with her child. Liz knew it would cause hardships for Sam and didn’t want to be one of them. So when she found Sam cutting her hair, tears steaming down her face…Liz took the scissors from her and finished it herself.
When college rolled around Sam was accepted into every school she applied for, Harvard being the one she truly wanted because a friend (cough Alex cough) who had never judged them was going to for law. While Liz secretly prayed Sam would go into law she never pressured it. Sam gradated near the top of their class with a major in criminal justice and minor in law.
They then went through the academy, climbing quickly to detective and being assigned in SVU.
Alex Cabet, Don Craigan, Jack McCoy, and a few others either of old money or being there when Liz was climbing rank know Sam is Liz’ child but everyone keeps it to themselves as both have expressed no one really needs to know the truth.
Both are extremely protective of each other and would do anything for the other.

Since making this post I can’t stop going insane over Morgana and Sam parallels, from the most literal, like their powers starting with prophetic nightmares, to the queer allegories of it all, and mostly how the people who were supposed to support them the most ended up driving them away
These bastards
Tumblr media
The first to fail them, and who failed them the most, are of course the fathers. Obsessed with revenge for their late wives and filled with hate for anything that resembles magic/monsters. The line from Morgana that really gets me is he hates magic more than he cares for me, and considering John was ready to kill Sammy “if needed be”, I’d say it applies. Morgana and Sam were also the children willing to openly rebel when they disagreed with their fathers, as opposed to Arthur and Dean, the “good sons” and good soldiers.
(Of course, if we take powers as an allegory for queerness, that feeling that this is the limit where the supposed unconditionality of a parent’s love stops, feels very familiar)
The misguided attempts
Tumblr media
I’m not sure if this is controversial but it shouldn’t be, Merlin and Dean, despite their intentions, also failed to provide the support Morgana and Sam needed. Merlin took her to the druids, he kept her secret, but ultimately chose self preservation, he could’ve put an end to her loneliness and fear by telling the truth, but didn’t. Dean couldn’t disguise how afraid Sam’s powers made him, and gave Sam plenty of reason to believe he couldn’t be trusted, that honesty would be punished (as it was, when Dean eventually found out about Ruby and the Demon blood).
The powerful
The angels and the dragons, powerful entities repeating the prophecy that Sam and Morgana were destined for evil, whispering it in Dean’s and Merlin’s ear
The (not so) wise men
Bobby and Gaius. that’s it.
“But they’re evil”
Tumblr media
In comes Morgause and Ruby, the first people to accept them, all of them, powers included. The first ones to tell them powers shouldn’t be hidden or repressed, that there wasn’t anything inherently wrong with them. “But they’re evil”, sure, but they when everyone else drove Morgana and Sam away, they were there. Honestly, how could it have gone any other way?
The narrative
Perhaps the most infuriating part of all of it is the narrative itself isn’t kind to either of them. Merlin tries to make the point that magic isn’t evil, it can be used for good or bad, it depends on people’s choices, but in order to highlight Merlin as the good they need to punish Morgana as the bad, how much choice did she really have though? Their circunstances were completely different, she didn’t have Gaius, she didn’t have a prophecy on her side.
And Supernatural, god only knows what the fuck they were trying to say, at points it seemed like they were trying to go with “monsters aren’t always bad”, but somehow they always had to be killed anyways. Sam didn’t choose having demon blood, he didn’t choose having his life manipulated by Lucifer from the start, but he did choose to try and do good with all of it, he learned how to use his powers so he could exorcise demons without hurting innocent people, and Ruby could show him how to do that. And still, to highlight Dean as the right one here, he is locked and blamed and punished, over and over.
In summary: I’m a lesbian and have a lot of thoughts.

Interesting that you mention the Danvers vs Dansen because it wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago that I finished S4 that I saw that Alex was actually going to adopt and then the adoption fell through and Kelly was with her through all that and Kara didn't mention it once (I now realize)! That was a big traumatic moment and a big part of Alex's story and she shared it entirely with Kelly, who for some reason (plot) after having just met her decided that she was going with her to Coastal City to meet the baby and then the birth mother decided to keep them. Now I understand why they needed to build Dansen and delay the adoption plot, but damn was that a lot of emotional lifting being done by a potential (at this point) partner. So I guess what I'm saying is that there is some very poignant storyline already uniquely Dansen, since the adoption seems like a plot that will be theirs alone, not Danvers sister related
.
Yeah, it’s kind of interesting to think that adoption has kind of like always felt like a very Alex storyline rather than an Alex and Kara storyline. Of course it first was a big issue between Sanvers, then imo the next big moment came between Alex and J’onn on the topic? I think Alex was on Argo at that time? And then we see Alex fill out adoption papers on her own?
Like obviously Kara is informed and thinks Alex would make a great mom, but it doesn’t really feel like something she is directly involved in. Which to me points against an “autie Kara” ending (similarly how Kara didn’t really take part as much in the Alex/Ruby bonding stuff and didn’t really do a ton of boding with Ruby directly (even though that would have been a potentially interesting story, if Ruby has alien DNA too)).
I find that really interesting. Especially if one thinks about the popularity of Swanqueen and how at least some part of seemed to be built around the concept of “a boy with two mommies”. By comparison, imo it has never felt like “Alex AND Kara are adopting a kid”, it always felt like Alex’s thing and Kara is sort of at a friendly supportive distance to it.
I guess that’s why to me it has always felt like Alex + baby felt a bit like Alex replacing Kara. Like she spent her life caring for Kara, but Kara is outgrowing her, is her own person now and now Alex is heaping her motherly energy on a child.
I have felt from the start that the writers were very serious about Dansen. And I fully think they are serious this season about giving Alex her “have it all” ending, what is have it all by their definition. She will finally get her kid and she has the loving partner who is willing to support her in this in Kelly.
It’s one of the many reasons why a Kara leaving ending feels to emotional fitting for me. Alex is forming her own family and is releasing Kara from her direct control.
Particularly in seasons 2 and 3, Alex and Kara’s romantic storylines paralleled each other heavily. Alex having her first real because lesbian relationship versus Kara having her first real proper relationship, both relationships ending in tragedy and season 3 dedicating a lot of airtime to the both of them grieving those relationships. If season 6 dedicates a lot of stuff to Dansen wedding and Dansen adoption, it would make sense that Kara is mulling over her own life and choosing something new for herself, whatever that might be.
I know a lot of people don’t want it, but imo there is a lot of love there too in the concept of “I’m releasing you into your new life, with love/our hearts will always be connected”. Kara just isn’t the needy lonely girl anymore and arguably she hasn’t been for a while. See the beginning of season 2 where Kara tried to leave for a second with Clark and Alex is the one who goes needy and can’t let her go.
I’m very excited about the potential Kara/Kelly centric episode and i’m hoping for a lot of bonding and Kara praising her. Dansen was kind of there building up in the background in season 5, but I have great hopes for them and particularly Kelly this season and that they really want to do right by her. IMO she already did some great heavy lifting in being the normal person point of view character in 6x07. I can easily picture Kelly/Kara being about Kara being thankful for Kelly’s place in Alex’s life and communicating to us why Dansen is so great.
Also really hoping for Kara getting involved in the wedding preparations (even though I would want the wedding to be heavily about Dansen and Dansen choosing it for themselves, not something that comes out of pressure).
Based on spoilers, I also expect quality just Dansen stuff about Kelly’s ascent to vigilante and if the adoption comes around, I also hope for that to be heavily centered around the two of them, because as you said, that’s how they started out.
Basically I’m hoping for in addition to a Danversisters love letter, for a major Dansen love letter too because in the end, I think she is supposed to represent Alex’s happy ending, so I think the show need to make a stab at showing to us why we should be happy about it (and Kelly in Fear Knot imo was a great start in regards to getting really meaty scenes rather than stuff that is very plot driven or a bit rushed against other plot points).
But yes, Dansen, the way they write Dansen and the adoption storyline is a major reason why a Kara leaving, graduating ending feels so plausible to me.
Sure, I could be wrong, but either way, I’ve decided to be happy about Dansen, because to me that feels like the most surefire bet in regard to them getting quality material. IMO Sanvers had a ton of explosive chemistry. While Dansen imo only got the occasional moment to shine (you have moments of hotness like Kelly checking out Alex’s new vigilante outfit, you have a not of nice and supportive stuff, they are finally get not only blinks of big romance, but actually meatier versions of it) I look forward to getting that explanded.
1.) Flo isn’t coming back and even if she were to come back imo the show has made enough cases for how Maggie would be a great match for what Alex wants. So it’s a moot point.
2.) I love Alex and I want her to be happy.
3.) I really like Kelly as a character and Azie just seems like the sweatest person ever.
And like I said, I’m hoping for a lot more broad quality content in the build up to the happy ending. They had good moments before, but I’m hoping for some real feasts rather than just the occasional nice bits. (even though Covid makes me pessimistic in regards to getting a sex scene in the same vein of Sanvers, even though I think it would be really cool).

Kay’s Questioning Adventure! Chapter 3: 1 Year, 1 Boy, and a Mom.
Note: Italics = Japanese.
-----------
FATALITY! SUB ZERO WINS!
I stare at the screen, seeing who won.
Sighing, I sulk back into the couch and scrunch up my face.
‘That’s-’
“6 - 2! Are you sure you’re good at Mortal Kombat? What happened to those skills you were talking about?”
Gripping the controller, ‘I only played against hard bots..’
“Maal, aren’t you being a bit rude? I have skills, I-I-I just need to warm up! Once I warm up I promise I can beat you..”
He looks at me with the face saying ‘I know you’re lying’.
After a few seconds, he chuckles and puts me in a small hug. “Awww, Is my little bean upset that I keep beating them at their own game?” I glare at him, “You better be lucky I love you. Dork..”
“English please! I only know anime words!”
I grab his arm and squeeze it, “YOU KNOW WHAT I’M SAYING!! STOP TRYING TO GET ME TO TALK IN ENGLISH ALL THE TIME!”
He grabs my wrist trying to get me to stop breaking his arm, “IM SORRY! IM SORRY!”
Sighing again, I let go of his arm and reach over to grab my phone. Maal rubs his arm while mumbling curses under his breath, “You got one hell of a grip right there..”
He realized I didn’t respond and just staring at my phone. “Hey bean? What you got..” He leans over and sees what I see. At the same time we say-
“Oh..”
“Dear.”
Imagine: You're in a dark spacious room with the only light source being flashed on you. Then one by one, lights being to flash on different sexualities/genders. you see your peers/fictional characters in their respect areas, and they all reach out their hands to you. You're confused, but no longer scared. Now the question is, which one will you choose?
Heh, It’s me again! This chapter is somewhat special! So I’m introducing 2 new characters. As you saw earlier, you see a guy names Maal! That’s just his nickname. So that ‘Maal’ guy is well, my partner! That’s not his actual name, it’s actually Jamaal. wOaH- an American? African American to be exact!
Now, what’s the problem this chapter? Well, let’s find out..
-----------
“Hey! Hey! Hey! No need for pushing! And do I really have to go UNDER the bed again?!”
“Yes you have to go under the bed! You know this already! We’ve been doing this for 3 years!” I continue pushing him towards my room, I CAN’T let her see him! I’m not ready!
Maal stops walking which makes me bump into him, “Why can’t she just meet me already? I feel like we’ve been kept a secret for too long.”
“We haven’t been kept a secret, Mariyah and our friends already know we’re together. Hell! Even your parents know! I’m just not ready for her to meet you yet.. Plus I haven’t even told her I’m.. You know..”
I feel 2 arms wrap around me, “I know you’re scared, I know. But she can’t really do anything. What is she gonna do? Ground you? She can go kick rocks with..?”
Chuckling I finish his sentence, “With an open toe shoe.. thanks Maal.”
He gives me a smile, “That’s what I’m here for, now, can I meet her?”
“You’re going under the bed.”
-----------
I go towards the door once I hear a knock on it, I peep through the hole and open the door.
“Heeey Momma!”
“Hi sweetie, I see you’re playing Mortal Kombat again.”
I look over to the TV, Ah! I forgot that was on the screen!
“Were you playing with someone?”
“Yep! Mariyah! You just missed her.”
That was a close one, I move aside to let her in.
I just realized how short she was again..
She goes to sit on the couch in the living room, I sit right next to her and change it to a regular channel.
“Sooo... What are you doing here?” I look over towards her to see her scrolling through her phone. I hope she doesn’t ask to go to my room, I didn’t put him under the bed because I’m not that cruel.
“I just wanted to see my daughter of course. Why? Are you busy?” She puts her phone down and looks at me.
“N-No! I was just wondering because you didn’t inform me before coming over today!” I put my hands up in defense, leaning over, I grab the remote and flip through some channels. Just to avoid eye contact.
“Hmph, okay. Let’s watch that show you like so much, you know, the one with the boy who has a gem on his belly button.”
Ah! Steven Universe! I love that show!
I look for Steven Universe and click on my favorite episode ‘The Answer’
As we watch through the episode, my mom’s mood changes.
“What’s wrong? You seem upset.” She sighs and pauses the episode, “Garnet is a fusion right? Aren’t Ruby and Sapphire girls?”
“Well, gems don’t really have genders.. but if you had to choose a gender, they’re most likely girls. Is there a problem?”
Her face scrunches up a bit, “YEAH, It’s a huge problem actually. Why are they showing 2 lesbians on a kids show?! It’s a kids show! Plus it’s just.. ew.”
I sigh, maybe I shouldn’t have picked this episode.. I forgot how much of a homophobe she was. I guess today isn’t the right day. Blocking out her constant complaints, I think about how much I wish she wasn’t like this. Can’t she just understand that we’re human to?
-----------
“Bye bye! Have a safe ride!” I wave outside the door to my mom as she leaves.
When she finally leaves, I close the door and sigh. Sliding down the door, I feel my throat burn and my face scrunches up.
Shit, I’m about to cry.
I feel 2 arms lift me up off of the ground and drag me to the soft couch cushions.
Pulling me into a hug, I let it all out.
“It’s alright, It’s alright.. Let it all out..” He keeps comforting me, over, and over again. I wrap my arms around his torso and keep on crying. Jesus, I really am a crybaby.
“I know it’s hard to tell her, you’re not ready yet.. Just know I’m here to support you 100% Me and the crew.” Rubbing circles on my back, trying to calm me down. “Look at me.”
I look up, feeling a soft peck on my forehead. “Come on, let’s go to your room. We can binge JoJo if you want, I still have to catch up on part 5.”
Wiping my eyes, I smile at him a bit. He stands up, making me stand up with him, and we walk to my room.
“Are you spending the night?”
“Hell yeah.”
“Can I bring out my Kakashi body pillow?”
“Fuck no.”
Happy 4 years Maal, you’re always there for me. <3

why mlm relationships are never shown in kid’s shows
I wrote this angry and exhausted. good luck.
With the exception of Bow’s dads and Benson and Troy from Kipo, I struggle to name a canon mlm relationship in an animated kid’s show. And yet, there seems to be an endless amount of lesbian relationships- Marceline and Bubblegum, Catra and Adora, Ruby and Sapphire, plus a shit ton more from She-Ra alone. Don’t get me wrong, this is a huge step for queer people everywhere, and I am so grateful to grow up in this generation and witness this acceptance. And although the relationships between Troy and Benton, as well as George and Lance are both very sweet, neither have the growth and emotional connection formed in any other relationship I’ve seen on screen. And don’t get me started on how much Voltron fucked up queer characters. Good lord, talk about burry your gays.
But back to my point. Why are male relationships so rarely shown on screen, and almost never portrayed in the same light as lesbian or heterosexual couples? As far as I can count, there have been about two mlm kisses on a kid’s show, and I don;t want to count Voltron, because it was shit. So why?
At first, having a lesbian couple on screen was shocking, and many Karens flipped their shit and rushed their children off to church when they saw Steven Universe episode 49 for the first time in 2015. And over time, it became more and more acceptable, with masterpieces like The Legend Of Korra, She-Ra, The Owl House, and Adventure Time. But it wasn’t until early 2016 that there was a confirmed mlm couple on screen (Deputy Durland and Sheriff Blubbs), and even then, there was no kiss, and they were always side characters with probably no more than an hour of screen time total.
Oversexualization of lesbians is a huge issue for the wlw community, from inaccurate porn to asking for threesomes on the street (a lot of people, mainly men, are really fucked up). But two women can hold hands in public, and still be considered “just friends,” but the second two men do it, they’ve got assholes screaming about how they’re going to hell. And yet, oversexualization of gay men is also a huge issue, mainly for straight women. I cannot tell you how many straight ladies i know want a Gay Best Friend. They think it’s hot, exciting, sexy, when two men kiss. They think it’s hot to be “sinful.” They pretend to be supportive, but are really just in it for their own fantasy. Most of the mlm novels I’ve ever read are written by straight women.
Back to my point, again. There’s a stereotype pushed on gay men to be sexy and horny all the time. To be feminine, and basically be throwing themself on every man in sight. It’s so hurtful. People form assumptions about people based on how they act, but if he hadn’t come out, I never would’ve expected Benson to be queer. He was done so well, not oversexualized, not made creepy or stereotypical in any way. Even his romance did so well, which is where things sometimes fall apart in terms of representation.
People (mainly Karens) think it’s a terrible influence on children to have queer shows, because they don;t want their children to grow up queer at all. Lesbian relationships are more accepted by most people, because women are “supposed to be sensitive” and “it’s ok, it’s just a phase.” But once it’s a queer man, it’s more “ugh, you’re a freak and a sinner!!” because men are supposed to be emotionless machines, right? (WRONG). And once you put oversexualiztation into the mix, gay men are being pulled into a spiral of stereotypes and toxic masculinity.
And, it’s not just that. We write what we experience. Straight men write straight men (that tend to come across as queer in non-kid shows, like Sherlock or Supernatural). Queer people write queer people, and I cannot think of a single gay man who has written a script for any kid’s animation show. To quote a tumblr post I once saw, “mlm non-canon relationships tend to dominate fandoms because straight men have no fucking clue how to make women correctly.” Not their exact words, just what I remember. If queer women, or just actually accepting women, write queer characters, it’ll be easier to portray them as female, like how it’s easy for me to write trans masc characters. I would have serious trouble writing, say, a 50 year old straight woman, because I can’t project myself onto her in any way. People write what they know, what they understand.
So. Why? Because if a film studio were to allow a gay man to write a script, there would be a high chance it wouldn;t be aired as a children’s show, as most people consider mlm relationships to be all about sex, and definitely cannot be a cute magical romance, like Ruby and Sapphire. Or, if they were to air a cute gay magical romance, it wouldn’t be written by a gay man. It would be written by some straight women who probably thinks about gay sex more than her own partner. There would be too many stereotypes pushed on the kids, like being feminine, or having a straight girl for a best friend, and make it worse than Voltron.
I love all the shows with queer characters in it. They make me feel right at home. But I would love more mlm romance, for me to feel that home feeling, and for young gay boys to see themselves represented on screen as a real person, and not an afterthought.

Stop Settling for Less than Good Enough LGBT representation
Earlier this year I did a video on Bury Your Gays and Hiding Your Gays, two tropes where creators will either have their characters keep their homosexuality  ambiguous or use death in order to cover it up as soon as they introduce the idea of a character being gay.
Not too long ago, Young Justice released an episode where two character, Bart Allen and Eduardo Dorado Jr., were supposedly on a date. When I heard about this I wanted to check out the episode out of curiosity and also because I like Impulse. Loved him since the original Young Justice comic series by Peter David. But I was mostly skeptical. Turns out I had every right to be skeptical.
What was so offensive about it? During the first half of the episode, several characters members were allowed to show how in love they are, holding hands, kissing, and basically show that they were on a date. It was clear this was a couples day out. Although Static commented on how he really needed a girlfriend and that he felt like an extra wheel.
Bart and Eduardo interact a bit, ride the same bumper car together, and try and share some cotton candy. But it’s so frustrating because there is nothing substantial.
What supports the idea of Bart and Eduardo? The fact Static felt like an extra wheel but did not mention Bart and Eduardo. He wouldn’t need to say that if he could just hang with the two and not feel left out.
Also Greg Wiseman has been “subtly” entertaining the idea of LGBT characters on the show via twitter. Mostly liking people’s tweets talking about how excited they are about the (supposed) new paring.
This is infuriating on so many levels. How is it that all the other straight characters on the show can show off how in love they are, hugging, holding hands, and kissing yet the supposed gay couple cannot. And Greg Wiseman seems to entertaining the idea but without saying anything definitive. Which feels very unsettling because I like Wiseman’s work but I would hate if he went the same route as JDS and Montgomery from Voltron. Have gay representation but keep is so vague and expect praise and admiration for how “ground breaking” their work is.
And from what I hear, Bart and Eduardo are on a self-destruction route. Oh goodie, why do I feel like this is Shiro all over again?!
Guys, we need to stop settling for less. We deserve better. Vague hints at gay relationships are not good enough. And praising creators for limp handed and at worst clearly offensive attempts at gay representation does not help. It just makes them complacent when they don’t feel like they got something wrong. We deserve to see gay character, gay superhero characters hug, hold hands, kiss, call each other boyfriends or girlfriends as openly as straight characters.
And Young Justice has even less of an excuse if it wants to be “more grown up” or “taken seriously” especially when gay representation is simpler than you think. I’ve said how simple it is in my videos, you just need to commit. If you can write all these straight relationships then you can write, at least, ONE gay couple. That’s how easy it is.
For a show that people gush about how serious and more grown up it is and how complex it is, it says a lot when a show like Loud House can do something so simple as to portray two teenage girls on a date and call it a “date” and have each other blush at each other, make cheesy love poems, giving a heart-shaped guitar pick, and talk about how they wanna experience new things together.Friends even being fully supportive and knowing it is a date too!
Sure, there was no kiss, but it’s a frak tone more progress than what we’ve been getting from Voltron or Young Justice.
Ruby and Sapphire from Steven Universe have never said “I love you” even once. And we constantly use the fact that the gems are genderless as an excuse instead of handling the idea of them being gay directly.
JUST SAY BOYFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND, WIFE, HUSBAND!
Heck Rooster Teeth had a married lesbian couple and didn’t waffle around it and it was SO SIMPLE. They’re being schooled by Rooster Teeth! OMG!
And before anyone makes a fuss over how angry I am, first off, frak off. Two, as a gay person you can imagine my discontent when walked into this episode, with some hope one of my favorite Teen Titans and YJ members was supposedly going on a date with another guy (btw we don’t need to follow the comics 100%)  and that maybe the talented Wiseman could do it right, but instead all I get more vagary about a gay couple’s relationship while all the straight characters can be causal about their relationships and be open about it. All it does it make your gay fans feel exploited or alienated. Consider how many gay people felt like how I felt, the feeling of having to keep your relationship on the down-low while all your straight friends can freely and openly show off how in love they are.
It’s not good enough anymore guys. Vague hints are not good enough. Confirmation via twitter outside of the show is not good enough. Characters being put through the meat grinder is not good enough. We’ve been waiting for so long, we’ve been writing relationships since the dawn of time.
We can do better. It’s not a matter of skill, it’s whether or not a creator is willing to commit and get off their ass.
And you can bet hat a lot of people were angry about Bart and Eduardo. Sure some people were trying to stay positive and give Wiseman the benefit of the doubt but even their good faith is waning. It’s not good enough.
Stop settling for less.

Tumblr media
Welcome back, everyone! Today’s recap is surprisingly positive. I liked a lot of what we got in Chapter One, with the biggest complaint being the sheer amount of Sun-bashing throughout. On the one hand it does decent things for Coco’s characterization, on the other hand… we’ve really got to rake one character across the coals in order to forward another? It’s a mixed bag, but we’ll get to all that.
Initially we open on SSSN and CFVY having breakfast together. Which Coco is surprised to find herself enjoying. In fact, she’s enjoying it so much that she’s called out for laughing/smiling too much.
“I thought you boys liked it when girls smiled,” she said.
Honestly? I’m here for the lesbian weaponizing that against a bunch of guys. I’ve been told to smile so much in my life that I too would get snarky if I was then told to stop. I can be petty that way.
Of course, Coco isn’t really the victim here. She’s specifically laughing at the fact that her team needed to help Sun out last night, which is not only mean (I do support the boys telling her to knock it off even while I support snarky quips about smiling) but also flies in the face of everything huntsmen are supposed to represent. I’m honestly surprised by the amount of disdain for teamwork throughout both the web-series and this book so far. It’s like Ozpin tried to teach his students – and the audience – that teamwork is a necessary skill by creating literal teams… but instead of learning that every huntsmen in training went, “Great! Now that we have these teams we’ll never need to work with anyone else ever.” There’s obviously some leeway here in regards to how Team RWBY became Team RNJR and then Team RWBYJNR(+O), but their mega team has the same ‘us vs. the world’ attitude that Coco displays here. Factor in the team partners and it feels like everyone missed the memo about working with others being a good thing.
We’ll see this again just a little farther along, when Coco mentally complains about how SSSN only “assisted” them previously, not “rescued.” It’s the same distinction Sun made in the prologue: You didn’t save me. Even though they did. Coco is more concerned with how SSSN is tarnishing the “shine” of their reputation, rather than how they helped her or how she, in turn, could help them. Whenever the main story insists that the antagonist of the week is dividing the world for Salem, I want to point very emphatically to the heroes who are supposed to be enacting that unification... but aren’t. If they can’t even admit that a peer helped them without scrambling to assuage that supposed blow to their pride, how are they ever going to deal with the actual, weighty ethics of these problems? The ‘my way or the highway’ attitude we’ve seen Ruby display starts here. Everything is black and white. It’s simply not possible for them to be impressive, capable fighters and in need of rescue now and again. Therefore no rescue took place and peers – however subtly – are viewed as competition at best, potential enemies at worst. When you take these teens out of school and put them in, say, a military environment where your peers have incredibly difficult decisions to make… that’s where problems crop up.
I also think it’s worth acknowledging that Sun was in legitimate danger last night. Unknown adversaries + an inability to combat them = potential death. Sun even comments in the prologue that he has to keep a close eye on his aura because otherwise he might come out of this encounter seriously injured. It reads as continually strange to me that characters who just lived through a major battle still have the confidence and naivete needed to view Sun’s encounter as a hilarious one-upmanship. ‘Ha! My team had to save you~’ should not be the reaction of kids who now fully understand the ‘save you’ part. The world is dangerous and unpredictable. People have died. Sun himself could have died or just (“just”) been hurt. What’s funny about that?
Meanwhile, the rest of SSSN is pretty pissed. Neptune likewise thinks Sun getting beat up “on your own turf” is funny, but Coco notices his angry tone. She wonders “if he meant he wished he’d been there to watch more than help.” So yeah, really pissed. What stands out to me though is that these are just feelings. The act of thinking and saying horrible things – “If you were one of my men I’d have you shot” – is not the same thing as actually acting them out, or allowing them to happen. I have no doubt that if Sun were in trouble Neptune would do everything he could to help him. The SSSN group would not literally stand by and watch a teammate get beat up… which just re-emphasizes for me how horrible Team RWBY’s actions were in Volume 6, watching indifferently as Ozpin begged, cried, and was attacked. For all this book’s problems, there’s a lot in this chapter that I wish we’d seen with Team RWBY. A moment where the group implied they were angry enough to abandon Ozpin but not actually doing that would have made a massive difference.
Coco notices Neptune’s meaning, but “she doubted Sun had the awareness to see that.” From here on out the Sun-bashing picks up and it’s… a lot. Far too much in my opinion. She mentally claims that Sun attaches himself to better teams to “make up for the fact that he and his own team were mediocre at best” even though, to my recollection, we haven’t seen any evidence of this. SSSN has potential, but only if they get a strong leader. Meaning, in her opinion, not Sun. He’s “too unstable, too unreliable” and Coco doesn’t even like eating with him most days, especially since she blames him for messing with her team’s morale. There’s exactly one moment where she agrees with him… and feels the need to remind herself (the reader) that it’s just this once. She also has little qualms about saying at least some of this to his face.
“But it is our business,” Coco added. “We don’t need you. No offense.”
Scarlet stood. “Why would I take offense?” he asked. “Just because you think you’re too good for us.”
Me experiencing the second-hand discomfort:
Tumblr media
WOW that’s a lot of anti-Sun sentiment. As mentioned at the start, I do think this work brings some value to the story. Meaning, characters are allowed to dislike other characters and it helps make Coco a well-rounded person to show that she has this flaw of being judgmental and overly critical. We know it’s a flaw because of how her team reacts to her comment:
Coco glanced at her team. Velvet avoided looking at her, which meant she wasn’t on the same page this time. Yatsuhashi looked uncomfortable, but he kind of always did during personal conflicts. And Fox—
“It wouldn’t hurt to have some reinforcements,” Fox sent, using his telepathic Semblance, presumably just to her.
“I don’t disagree,” Coco sent back. “If it was the right team.”
This is good! Velvet and Yatsuhashi’s body language tells us they don’t fully agree with Coco, if at all. Fox is comfortable enough to push back some and suggest that they could use the support. Coco, in turn, doesn’t brush him off. She still holds the opinion that Sun and his team aren’t the “right” kind of support, but she’s not rigid in her stance. She values her team’s opinions and is flexible enough to start accommodating them, even when they bump up against such an intense bias. Later in the conversation, Coco will outright ask for Velvet’s opinion and, based on that, changes her decision:
“What do you think, Velvet?” Coco sent.
Velvet was quiet for a while before she lifted her eyes and looked directly at Coco. She smiled. “I like proving people wrong.”
This is the sort of work I wish we were getting with Team RWBY. Behold! The leader can be wrong! Her team doesn’t always agree with her! They tell her as much and she takes those complaints seriously, resulting in a change! It’s such a sharp contrast to Blake’s elevator promise, the group keeping dead quiet as Ruby lied, everyone just shrugging off their supposed discomfort with that, Blake and Yang spilling secrets to Robyn and the team apparently doesn’t care… The writing could take some tips from this scene here.
However, all of this only comes about through that intense Sun-bashing. Which, coupled with the opening that was hyper-focused on showing how inept he supposedly is, is A Lot. It’s great to round-out Coco like this, it’s just too bad it came at Sun’s expense. Anyone who is a fan of his isn’t going to enjoy another character given so much space to criticize him with comparatively little disagreement, given that Sun’s team is also mad at him right now. He has no support here, to the point where any defense is given the ‘but you’re not totally wrong’ caveat.
“And you’re not exactly the best and brightest student at Shade,” she added silently.
“Harsh,” Fox sent.
Okay, so she hadn’t thought it silently enough.
“But fair,” Fox added.
I know I wouldn’t enjoy reading that about one of my faves. Indeed, I’ve already sat through it. It’s not enjoyable.
(Aside #1: I want more info about how Fox’s semblance works. Specifically, I want to know how others send him a message. It’s clear here that Coco didn’t mean for him to hear that thought, so did she accidentally do something to send it to him? What does it mean to think it “silently enough” that Fox won’t pick up on it? Is it a matter of “speaking” deliberately inside your head? Or does he have the potential to hear any thought passing by? Which would be one hell of a privacy issue…)
Not much happens plot-wise during all this. It’s mostly Coco’s thoughts with that dash of disagreement regarding whether SSSN should help out. We do learn, however, that “the native Vacuans called them weak for abandoning Beacon Academy” and uh…
Tumblr media
I hope I don’t need to explain how getting overrun isn’t the same thing as “abandoning” their school. However, this does cast the prologue in a new light. If Vacuo is THAT obsessed with standing your ground, was Sun’s clan just outliers for deciding to move? Obviously you can’t paint a whole kingdom with one brush, but it feels weird to get wise ‘Some battles you can’t win’ advice in one chapter and then in the next learn that (apparently) most Vacuans are so stubborn they view a tragic defeat as abandonment.
The conversation segues into how Headmaster Theodore hasn’t done anything about the Crown yet, but Coco is more shocked that Sun refers to him as “Theo.” As someone who grew up calling teachers – including principals – by their first name, this made me laugh.
That aside, Sun clearly has some connection to the headmaster. Something from the first book I missed? Entirely possible. I’m figuring this out as I go. The important bit is how the conversation actually tackles student agency vs. responsibility. Or, whether a bunch of unlicensed teens should be getting involved in a dangerous mission they already handed off to the professionals:
“Keeping us in the dark isn’t going to help anyone,” Coco said.
“You keep forgetting,” Scarlet scoffed. “We’re just students.”
“We’re already better than a lot of trained Huntsmen,” Coco said.
“But we still have a lot to learn. And we’ve already failed to defend one school.”
Coco corrected him. “We were all taken by surprise. Haven fared better.”
“Most of us weren’t even there, and I still wouldn’t call that a win,” Scarlet replied.
I appreciate that both sides are given weight here. Scarlet and Coco are allowed to make points as equals. Obviously given that this is a fighting story with students as protagonists, the plot is going to find ways for them to get involved. I’m not at all surprised that, by the end of the chapter, they’ve re-established the “need” to investigate despite being told that at least one fully-trained huntsmen was already handling it. We have to have a story. However, we can’t ignore the in-world fact that yes, they are just students. No, they’re not better than a lot of trained huntsmen (some, sure, but Qrow could kick their ass). They did get in over their heads. And “we were taken by surprise” isn’t the defense Coco seems to think it is. If you can’t handle a surprise attack... you’re not ready. To ignore all this is to write characters who come across as arrogant to the point of delusion. By having at least one person point out the flaws in this thinking, they read much more like young people trying to make a difference and letting that drive/impulsivity carry them a bit too far. That’s relatable – and engaging. This is more work I’d like to see with Team RWBY. Less, “That was before you trained us” and more “You keep forgetting, we’re just students.” It’s the heroes who are perceived as “just” something and manage to save the day anyway that’s exciting. Not the heroes who come sauntering in proclaiming that they’re the best ever and then manage to scrape by because the plot ensured they would. Or again, make one or two characters like that. Not an entire team.
(Aside #2: Sometime during all this Fox is referred to as “Fox Alistair.” Why the last name in the middle of a scene??)
So the whole group is upset that the headmaster doesn’t appear to be doing anything. Sun wants to help and feels strongly that they need it. Coco is adamant that they may need help, but not from him. During the course of this the Great War is brought up and the long-standing bias it has produced:
“The Great War again.” Coco shook her head. “Ancient history. Let it go.”
“Easy for you to say,” Sun said. “But have you let go of what happened to Beacon?” He sat down and put his hands together. “You. Need. Us.”
I get the point that Sun is making but uh… those aren’t the same thing. As Professor Rumpole will acknowledge in just a bit, even something from fifty years ago can feel like “ancient history” to someone who didn’t live through it. A war that ended eighty years ago – and began a decade before that – simply isn’t going to resonate emotionally with the new generation. They’ll feel the impact of it, but it’s still different. Trying to compare a kingdom’s attachment to something that happened a literal lifetime ago to the tragedy that they all personally experienced a year ago is unfair. It’s like if someone rightfully pointed out, “Hey, I want to acknowledge that the people down the street shouldn’t automatically hate me for something my grandfather did to their grandfather” and the response to that was, “Yeah but last year someone did something horrible to you and you haven’t let that go, so…” You’re talking about two very different situations, not to mention trying to use that trauma as leverage. Coco gets mad at Rumpole for doing the same thing in class: don’t use the fall of our school as a point for your argument.
This whole chapter has a running theme of history and its impact, including a dual joke from Fox about “those who miss history are doomed to repeat it” (that is: the old adage of learning from past mistakes as well at the fact that if they miss their literal history class they’ll need to repeat the course). Which, taking the novel as a whole, is presumably reflective of these two teams. I may take issue with the pervasive perspective that huntsmen can get by on their own, but the fact is that Sun and Coco do work together, despite the complaints. It’s right there on the cover. So we have this larger setup of kingdoms fighting and the ways that this is still negatively impacting the next generation. Now here that generation comes along, struggling with but ultimately overcoming that hurdle. We will work together. We will choose to trust one another, hard as that is. It’s – again – a better example of the younger generation surpassing their elders than what the web-series has managed to give us lately.
Right now, Coco is only agreeing to work with SSSN because she intends to avoid problems, not because she thinks they’ll be a benefit to her: “It made sense to combine their efforts—if only to make sure Sun didn’t get in their way, or to make sure Scarlet didn’t rat them out to Rumpole.” It’s a horrible thing to think about someone, let alone a someone who is meant to be a friend. However, the hope is that Coco grows over the course of the novel. I certainly hope poor Sun doesn’t spend 200+ pages helping her only for Coco to come out the other side still holding such a low opinion of him…
So we get a bit more about how scary Coco can come across as, how much she enjoys that, and how “This whole ‘accepting help’ thing wasn’t exactly her style.” We get it. The powerful huntsmen never need help, etc. etc. Maybe I’m just a community-driven gremlin but I find this concept of extreme individuality to be terrifying. Accepting help is absolutely my style. Please help me. For the love of God, if anyone can make this world a little more manageable I will take it.
I’m not a cool girl like Coco though. Maybe that’s the difference.
Tumblr media
The group finally goes to history class where they hold their heads high despite coming in late. No, no, no. No feeling pride over disrespect. Rumpole has every right to be shaking her head at them. You’re late because something came up, you accidentally slept in, etc.? That’s life. You’re late because you couldn’t be bothered to arrive on time and think you shouldn’t feel any guilt over that? C’mon.
All of which segues into how Coco was in “her share of disciplinary meetings” back at Beacon. In contrast to the head-held-high attitude though, Coco admits to herself that she found the feedback valuable. As she moves through thoughts about how she totally doesn’t need praise, Fox corrects her:
“I don’t need eyesight to know you’re great, Coco. But maybe those shades of yours have been distorting how you see things. Try taking them off once in a while. You’d be surprised to learn there are lots of people outside of our team worthy of praise.”
I am legitimately enjoying a main character – a leader no less – getting kindly called out for their inaccurate perspective. That’s what we want!! Growth!!! Especially since Fox neatly ties this back to the real conflict at hand: “You’d be surprised to learn there are lots of people outside our team worthy of praise.” Indeed, Coco does try taking off her glasses (horrible as that metaphor is. Like... it’s really awkward) and is then able to articulate just how much she appreciates Rumpole. I’m not going to lie, reading a scene where someone over 30 is praised and respected did my heart some good.
(Aside #3: I’m having trouble reconciling this Fox with the one I know is going to appear later with Neptune. It’s quite a leap to go from wise ‘Other people are worthy of praise’ to being so uncaring you’ll advocate for the continued torture of a peer...)
We move through Coco’s admiration for Rumpole’s fashion and how that reflects her personality: stylish but, at the end of the day, practical. We get some nice details about Fox keeping the team awake and giving them answers with his semblance, which is exactly the way I would expect students to use telepathy in class (alongside singing annoying songs to piss each other off, reading aloud memes they’re looking up on their phones, desperately asking what the hell the teacher just said because oh god it’s going to be on the exam isn’t it?) Eventually all this leads to Coco subtly calling out Rumpole for – supposedly – not investigating the Crown. Hey, teach. Why are we learning about this time period now? Don’t you want to talk about when the crown was the center of authority around here?
It's subtle… ish.
Tumblr media
Message received, Rumpole speaks with them after class to explain that she hasn’t brought this to the headmaster yet because he’s got too much on his plate. Instead she’s investigating it personally and will fill Theodore in when she has something substantial. Coco, while pleased that Rumpole hasn’t completely blown them off, is insistent that dealing with today’s problems is all that matters. Who cares about tomorrow?
“That’s a luxury you have as a Huntress in training. Theodore has to be concerned with both today and tomorrow.”
Ding ding ding! This is Team RWBY’s problem too. What do you mean we can’t just solve this problem here and now? I want to fight today, no matter what that might do to tomorrow. Meanwhile, Ozpin isn’t just thinking about tomorrow, but generations of tomorrows. This is a luxury that only the very young and the ones without responsibility can have. Make them fight for a thousand years and they’ll start caring about what the next thousand will look like. Give them the weight of a kingdom and watch them weigh decisions when, suddenly, it’s no longer just their own lives they’re risking. God I hope Team RWBY starts realizing this in Volume 8…
The only downside is that Rumpole provides all this via more shade thrown (partly) at Ozpin: “The headmasters of the other schools have been reckless, negligent, or overprotective.” Thus far, the people of Vacuo seem quite happy to assume they would have done better in Beacon’s place. Well, if I were at Beacon I simply wouldn’t have abandoned it. If Theodore was headmaster there it simply wouldn’t have fallen. That’s a luxury of Rumpole’s own: the ability to stand safe in a currently untouched kingdom and assume that, if put in the same position, she and her people would have come out for the better.
She continues with,
“Theo’s first priority will always be helping you reach your full potential, making you strong enough to survive anything that comes your way. He has your best interest in mind, no matter where you come from or where you started your training. Who else can say that?”
Uh… Ozpin?

Absolutely Ozpin.
However, Rumpole does provide good reasons for why the group should hang back. Not just the “You’re students” argument but also an acknowledgement that she has very sensitive leads going. Getting others involved might jeopardize that. Of course, they interpret all this as Rumpole just telling them to be cautious. Get involved, just don’t get caught. As mentioned above, this was inevitable. There’s no story without the group’s involvement and coming up with ways that they oh so unexpectedly (conveniently) end up involved without intending to be can get very old, very fast. So I get it. Let’s just hope that they go about this in a way that doesn’t make them seem like completely over-confident fools.
So all in all not a bad chapter. At least comparatively. If you’re able to overlook the Sun-bashing and the execution of some ideas (the prose is still incredibly messy in places) there’s actually a lot of work here that I appreciate. Work I’d really love to see implemented into the web-series. To be frank, it’s not that I think this is all particularly good… just not particularly bad either. Good for RWBY, shall we say. In another franchise I’d be heavily disappointed in this, but for a series with so many other flaws lately? Seeing just an inkling of this complexity is a relief. Even if the details grate.
Only question is, can the novel maintain this low-bar standard all the way through? Based on public reaction I’m gonna guess no…
But we shall see! 💜

The Hypocrisy of the argument "this ship is forced"
Lately I have realized that a part of the fandom is very hypocritical when they say "this ship is forced" because they only apply it when the couple is (lesbian)
Now that the BB is almost canon, they are very scared and they are throwing shit to Whiterose (when they did not do it before) because they are realizing that this volume they have had a lot of focus ... but let's analyze which are the ship forced and that the fandom would not say anything if it becomes "canon".
I remember that the video that made me think that most of Straight ship with Weiss were forced was this:
Tumblr media
do not get me wrong (I know that Calix is super positive, multishipper and one of the best youtuber of RWBY) ... but in that video as his teammate Hunter pointed out, she had to create a fanfic so that the dynamics of Weiss and Neptune worked, even ignoring many things established in the canon.
Now let's look at the date (2017) even with the latest volumes and with all the character development of Weiss ... there are people who want Weiss to be with Neptune (not because they like the couple) but because they want the Whiterose not to be a canon couple,,,but there are others who would not call that "forced"
let's look at a more updated case of one of my favorite youtuber (not that he is talking badly about Whiterose ... but sometimes even the "experts" get more stupid arguments for "normal" ship)
Tumblr media
When I read this, I said to myself, Really? Weiss and Jaune in 6 volumes have only had 9 minutes on screen (most were in the first 2 volumes) where she rejected him in a very cruel way ... then when she at least became his friend (almost did not talk whit him)
in fact the moments that could at least give them "development" made Weiss focused on Ruby.
The end of Vol 5 is a clear example where Weiss did not dedicate 1 minute of his time to Jaune (or even to thank him)
Tumblr media
Not to mention the Vol 6 ... I mean literally this was Weiss in that Vol (no development or even talk with Jaune)
Tumblr media
It's sad that even Blake was more affective with Jaune than Weiss ... but still there are people who say "Weiss and Jaune are going to end up together". Where do they get that from? In what universe would that ship not be forced?
Tumblr media
I mean even the argument of the "big family" is ridiculous (taken from a fanfic) ... first that works best with Ruby and Weiss for 2 simple reasons:
Ruby is the person who brings more happiness to Weiss (that's undeniable) ... so Weiss does not need Jaune because the show itself establishes it that way.
In family dynamics ... Tai is the opposite of Jacques and really the "loving family" does not work ... because like Jaune sister (Ruby and Weiss would have to move since you can not live with their parents forever)
Tumblr media
I've even seen people who ship Weiss and Sun on Reddit (even on Tumblr and some are Bumbleby fans who for some reason promote this so the fandom will forget the Blakesun)
They prefer that Weiss be with Sun (they say that the Ship has "Potential) I mean WTF ... they prefer that to Weiss not being straight
literally they only have 2 minutes to talk, zero development, zero interest ... it's literally the same example as with Neptune but worse (you'd have to create a fanfic and clearly make Weiss act out of character because as we can see his link is with Ruby and this volume made it clearer) ... if that is not "forced"  then I do not know what it is.
Tumblr media
I'll clarify something before they misunderstand me ... we all have the freedom to match couples what we want, it's the beauty of the shipping...but if you come with those ship that are bad (objectively speaking) you have no right to say that another ship with development, time on screen and that the narrative gives meaning is "forced"
Literally the only straight ship that at least would not be "forced" if they give more development would be the Lancaster ... in fact the Lancaster is similar to the Whiterose with the difference that it has less screen time, less important moments.
Tumblr media
But it's still a thousand times better than the other Weiss straight pairings
The fandom and the Whiterose
Even though the Whiterose is one of the most popular ship of RWBY and with better development still there are people who say "forced" if the ship becomes canon
Literally the Whiterose is the ship with more time on screen
Tumblr media
the new official RWBY manga that is telling the same story of the show (but more developed) is giving the Whiterose a very special and clear focus giving very obvious moments in this dynamic
Tumblr media
Not only this ship has more time on screen than all the others ... but it is evident how the Weiss character has become so close to Ruby (as it never was with another character)
Many of the moments between Weiss and Ruby had happened between Weiss and a guy many of the fandom would say "are canon" or they would say "Weiss is starting to feel something for that guy" without hesitation
Tumblr media
In addition to each volume its dynamic is changing ... but still there are people who say "this is forced" "are putting agenda" or "The Bumbleby is already canon... why they want to transform a straight character into homosexual?"
Weiss is as "straight" as Blake or Yang
Tumblr media
Monty video on this subject is quite clear ... it does not matter if the couple is “straight or homosexual" if they have development in the narrative then it's fine (part of being young is "self-discovery")
Tumblr media
For something the BB is almost canon, because events led them to develop feelings (it's simple) to classify them as "straight" is silly and Monty himself clarifies it there
So stop saying nonsense like
"The Whiterose can not happen because ...she straight"  "The Whiterose is forced not like the straight ship of the show" "They can not develop anything because if not everyone in the RWBY team would be lesbians and that would be supporting political agenda"
I hope you liked this review ... saying this I say goodbye and I wish you good day

The global icon penned an open letter in support of the Equality Act. After staying silent during the 2016 election, Swift has changed course in a big way.
Amy Zimmerman June 2, 2019
This Pride, Taylor Swift is coming out… as a vocal ally.A few years ago, it would have been impossible to imagine the famously brand-obsessed pop star urging her fans to write their senators. But late Friday, the woman behind girl-squad feminism and politely ignoring her neo-Nazi admirers finally took a stand. The fact that that stand was advocating on behalf of the Equality Act—which recently passed the House and must now be approved by the GOP-controlled Senate—and expounding on the importance of protections for LGBTQ Americans was not lost on some of Swift’s biggest fans.
Tumblr media
But before we get to Kaylor (the portmanteau for Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift’s hypothetical romantic relationship) and some of the more conspiratorial corners of Taylor Swift's fan base, let’s talk activist Taylor Alison.
Just a few album cycles ago, Swift was getting called out for her political silence. Her reticence to tell fans who she was voting for in 2016 stuck out as particularly craven. Given Swift’s background as a country-to-pop crossover artist, it’s easy to guess at her rationale. Considering a Venn diagram of country fans and Trump supporters, Swift may have understandably chosen to put her Hillary Clinton cape back in the closet so as not to piss off paying customers (when it comes to her brand and her career, Swift is a smart lady). But in the midst of an increasingly dystopian Trump era, her apoliticism has aged poorly. Either the singer sensed the woker Swifties turning against her, or she simply could not stomach doing nothing.
Whatever her motives, last year Swift shocked her followers by publicly endorsing two Democrats and strongly disavowing Republican Marsha Blackburn for Senate. “She voted against equal pay for women,” Swift informed her followers. “She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry.” The singer declared, “These are not MY Tennessee values.”
Watching Taylor Swift weigh in on the midterms was about as disorienting as watching her walk away from paparazzi backwards. And just like her crab walk, Taylor’s activism has quickly become commonplace.
Her latest statements are in many ways a continuation of the priorities she expressed last year, when she declared that, “any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG.” But, in addition to being as well-intentioned and strongly-worded as her previous political forays, Swift’s latest statement has the added bonus of being gay as hell. Printed on the rainbow pastel color palette that the pop star’s been so fond of lately, Swift’s post intersperses sincere exhortations with rainbow emojis. Writing about the Equality Act, “Which would protect LGBTQ people from discrimination in their places of work, homes, schools, and other public accommodations,” Swift explains that, “I’ve decided to kick off Pride Month by writing a letter to one of my senators to explain how strongly I feel that the Equality Act should be passed.” (The Trump White House has voiced their opposition to the Equality Act, as it continues to roll back protections against LGBTQ citizens.)
Swift goes on to reveal that she has created a Change.org petitionfor Senate support of the Equality Act, which you can find in her recently updated Twitter bio (so far, nearly 80,000 people have signed it). In her post, Swift also included a copy of the letter she sent to her senator as a template for fans to pressure their own elected officials.
“Let’s show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally,” Swift concluded.

The pop star’s thoughtful remarks have caused a vocal subsection of her fan base to lose their shit. Yes, Kaylor shippers do exist, as do diehard fans who have interpreted many of Swift’s recent actions as covert queer messages. For years now, sleuths have attempted to prove that Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss were totally a thing (skeptics should listen to “Dress” and then get back to me). But as Swift teased her new music in April, #Gaylor conjecture reached an all-time high. At Vulture, Jill Gutowitz faithfully gathered Swift’s breadcrumbs, many of which fell on a spectrum from subtly to overtly Sapphic.
“Sometimes I think about men who sanctimoniously say their favorite movie is The Prestige and I’m like, you frauds could never handle a Taylor Swift pre-album clue trail,” Gutowitz wrote. In a piece titled “Why So Many of Us Believed Taylor Swift Was Coming Out,” BuzzFeed’s Shannon Keating summarized, Kissgate. All those rainbows! Swapped lyrics featuring female pronouns. Lyrics that just seem really gay. The cats. The donations to LGBT causes. That performance with Hayley Kiyoko. Today, April 26, the day of Taylor Swift’s long-awaited announcement, is literally Lesbian Visibility Day.”
Unfortunately for us believers, “Me” was just a music video—albeit, a very gay music video featuring “pansexual icon” Brendon Urie and a phalanx of ladies in pastel suits (is this camp?!). “The gayest not-gay thing we’ve ever seen,” indeed. Now that Taylor Swift’s totally rainbow Twitter profile reads “Support the Equality Act,” it’ll be near impossible to dissuade #Gaylor truthers—and it’s hard to imagine that Swift doesn’t know exactly what she’s doing.
“I really thought Taylor was coming out this time,” Shannon Keating concluded after the “Me” letdown. “I really did! Now, there’s a big part of me — the grouchy and cynical part — that feels like the rollout for Taylor’s new song and video was a calculated attempt to queerbait us all before she turned on her glittery heels and announced that ‘Me’ would be… the soundtrack to more of the NFL draft. But there’s another part of me that has to grudgingly respect how she whipped a bunch of full-grown gays who ‘don’t really care about Taylor Swift’ into such a frenzy.”
As long as Swift is using her outsized influence to fight for LGBTQ causes, she can go ahead and keep us guessing.
