good news: the tiktok tag seems to be getting turned back to the right fandom again. while it's a slow process, I'm seeing a lot more videos about the book in the tag than last week
that's good!!! actually relevant to another ask I got
Tumblr media
if tiktok is going good, my worry is twitter, I would rather not interact with hazbintwt on my main (and I don't really wanna make an alt just for that) so if anyone on hazbintwt could help to spread about the clashing with the radio silence book fandom it'd be appreciated!
and I give full permission to repost my post about it on tiktok and twitter (be it screenshots or anything) if it'll help to spread awareness about the tagging issue on those sites
regarding reaching out to bigger radiostatic accounts there, it's up to any of y'all if you're willing to cause I really do not want to interact with hazbin on twitter and I don't have tiktok, but it would be absolutely appreciated if any of you did!!

I'm switching between anger and absolute despair right now.
This isn't the first time I've seen something like this happen. Fuck, it's happened to me. I had to delete one of my oldest AO3 accounts because of the nonstop harassment I would get from people who just couldn't be fucked to read the tags or use the back button.
Yes, I am devastated that all of Glimmer's fics are gone. But I'm also pissed as fuck that it got to this point. That people thought it was somehow "okay" to treat another human being like this.
I'm so tired of the whole "well, fandoms are toxic" bullshit. No, it doesn't have to be like this. Fandoms don't have to be toxic. This behavior is inexcusable and unjustifiable. I am so heartbroken over the fact that I have to see yet another one of my favorite authors being forced to take a step back for their mental well-being.
It should never have to get to this point. Never.
I'm so sorry this happened to you, Glimmer. You didn't deserve any of this. I'm also sorry I wasn't more vocal about how much I loved your fics. Genuinely, I hope that you get better soon and that you're in a better place mentally.

guess who managed to mention dnp in his a level media exam 🔥🔥
#okay it was relevant i promise#basically okay the question was about to what extent is it vital for media products to identify and address a target audience to be#successful and we study 2 radio products#one is newsbeat which is by the bbc it's like a news radio show that's meant to target age 15-29#but the average listener is 30#so . it is Not effectively targeting its audience#it gives . how do you do fellow kids#like it tries really really hard to appeal to young adults/teenagers but it's . painful to listen to sometimes#the bbc have been trying to target this age bracket coz it's the one they don't have a secure audience in#I SAID that they used to have a slightly bigger younger audience in the early 2010s#bcos they had the dan and phil show on radio 1 which was very popular and attracted their mainly teenage/young adult presold audience#they used the popularity of the internet to their advantage by having dnp run a show#but now they've lost a lot of their younger audience To social media platforms#as now what are called digital natives in media (people who have grown up with the internet/don't really remember a time before it)#for the most part prefer to get their news off social media rather than radio#a lot of this is general i know not Every young person Hates radio#but in general it's losing popularity esp amongst younger target audiences#media 🔥🔥🔥🔥#that was only like . a mention in one paragraph tho#coz unfortunately we don't study dnps radio show we study Newsbeat 😔#anyway the exam was overall good for the most part#yay :3#joeyposting

Christians, stop right now and go to Relevant Radio, click podcast for 18 August 2022 Cale Clarke’s FaithExplained and listen at least to the final minutes about the serpent, the garden, Jesus, His cruxifiction and theEucharist.
The whole podcast is worth listening to but at least do yourself the favor of listening to the last ten minutes

human contradiction
a symbolic piece of jet set radio art that is so mired in headcanon/au stuff that the symbolism has no basis in canon and its halfway to nonsense. this is a picture of Beat
i actually had this art sitting around in my files for like half a year because i felt, like, Embarrassed to post this. but life is too short not to embrace the ouroboros of hypfix bullshit and i also want it out of my to post folder

Matt on his lyricism being both personal and political
"On this song [Reapers], it's just a straight up analogy; I'm using real-life military drones, these remote controlled killing things, killing machines, to kind of represent these forces that could obviously target us all for nefarious purposes and stuff, and uh, yeah, it's pretty dark lyrically.
I threw the word "babe" in, to throw everyone off, because then that way you can sort of, almost make it be a metaphorical relationship song as well, you know?
So I like the songs to have different layers to them: both the personal but also this sort of political element to them, and trying to get both those themes to go throughout all the songs [on Drones] was one of the things I was trying to get happening. So that's why you may hear the odd word "babe" appearing every now and again, like what does that mean? That's the sort of personal side to the album, I guess."
This is quite fascinating to me, Matt talks a bit about the versatility of Muse's songs, not wanting to tie them down to just being purely political songs, but also once again, being a metaphorical abusive/controlling/trapped relationship dynamic thing, which is lyrically, a mark of some of Muse's best overall songs. Interesting.
Later while talking about The Handler, Matt also says that he deliberately kept it quite ambiguous what "dark forces" the protagonist recognises is controlling their life and begins to resist: "dark forces— in real life, in their head, or wherever you want it to be: I've tried to keep the album a little bit ambiguous so it's not completely in the military world, the fantasy world or the psychology world".
Which again brings me back to why Muse connect so strongly with so many people across the world: hey really just make songs that you can make your own, and in some ways by not dictating the details of your struggles, feelings and situations, Muse really are more personal in their writing to fans. You might ask, how on earth do you have millions of people connecting to a non-specific, even clichéd call-to-arms?Ask any of the millions of people that have been deeply touched and given strength by a Muse song!
