Day 9 - Novena for Rain
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Dear Lord, we thank You and praise You for the many ways You provide for us. We humbly ask that You send rain to all areas that need it.
We know that all good things come from You and that You provide all that we need. Even in the midst of suffering, we should strive to thank You and have a proper spirit of gratitude for all that You give to us.
Please provide the rain that we need for comfortable living, and we particularly ask today that You help us and all who are suffering from drought to be truly grateful to You for Your many blessings.
Help us to always bring all of our needs to You in confidence. Give us the grace to grow in true intimacy with You each day of our lives.
And we especially ask in this novena for (mention your intentions here).
Lord, hear our prayers!

Children, like adults, were caught up in war fever after hostilities broke out in August 1914. Many wanted to join the Army, including nine-year-old Alfie Knight from Dublin. Alfie wrote this letter to Secretary of State for War Lord Kitchener, volunteering as a front-line despatch rider. In a reply sent by his private secretary, Lord Kitchener thanked Alfie for his offer, but explained that he was 'not yet quite old enough to go to the front'.
