Puyo Puyo Drama CD #8-2: Ecolo and the Puppy (ENG Translation)

This is a good time to mention that the Drama CD stories are not in chronological order and for most of them, it is hard to tell when exactly they take place. You will see why this is important to keep in mind for this track in particular.

INTRO

Ringo: Ecolo and the Puppy

STORY

Ecolo: *humming a melody~*

Ecolo: Alright, where should I hang out to play today? Taking a stroll through spacetime sounds fun, but I could also just do what I always do pay Ringo a visit! That’d be nice~ *more humming*

???: *whimper*

Ecolo: *humming, continued* … Huh?

???: *sad whine*

Ecolo: Oh, wow… What’s the small thing squirming around under that bridge…?

[Puyo Battle SFX]

Ringo: Solved it! Got it!

Maguro: Check this out! Here it comes!

Ringo: Permutation!

Maguro: Butterfly Dance!

Ecolo: Hey there~~!!

Ringo&Maguro: HUH!?

[Sound of a ton of Nuisance Puyo crashing down]

Ringo: Ow, ow, ow, ow, OUCH!

Maguro: Oh no…!★

Ecolo: Hey, you guys, lookie what I got~!!

Ringo: Ecolo, c’mon! You can’t just barge through the clubroom window in the middle of our Puyo battle!!

Maguro: Looks like all the Nuisance Puyo we were building up came crashing down all at once, huh…★

Risukuma: You will have to declare the battle a draw, it seems.

Ecolo: Oh, who cares about that! Anyway, look at this thing~!

Puppy: *miserable whine*

Ringo: I-Is that… a puppy? Awww!

Maguro: Wow, the lil’ guy sure is cute★

Risukuma: I have never seen a breed like this before. It might be some manner of mix.

Ringo: Hey, Ecolo, where’d you even get that doggy from?

Ecolo: Oh, it didn’t look like it had anything better to do, so I gave it a ride here!

Ringo: *terrified* W-W-What’s THAT supposed to mean!? Don’t tell me you just went and grabbed a dog from someone’s house…!?

Ecolo: You got it all wrong! It was sitting under some bridge, shivering something fierce!

Ringo: Huh…?

Maguro: So what you’re saying is that it’s probably a stray, I guess…

Ecolo: A “stray”?

Puppy: *whine, yipping!*

Ecolo: AH! HEY! Don’t just try to run off on me…!!

Ringo: Hey, Ecolo, listen. Stray dogs are often dogs that were abandoned by their owners.

Ecolo: Huh?

Ringo: That’s probably why it is on edge. It might be suffering from anxiety.

Maguro: Yeah, you might wanna be a little bit more gentle with it…★

Ecolo: It’s anxious…? That’s so rude! I wasn’t even trying to do anything bad to it!!

Puppy: *yipping*

Ringo: Ecolo! Stop it!!

Maguro: It’s still a baby, it doesn’t understand what you’re doing, or anything, for that matter.

Ecolo: What’s there not to understand, huh!?

Puppy: *whimper*

Risukuma: Mhmm… I would say that it appears to be hungry. How about we attempted to feed it for now?

Ringo: You’re right. Maybe it will be less anxious on a full stomach.

Ecolo: Food, huh? Food… Oh, hey, Ringo! Hand over your apple!

Ringo: As if! Dogs don’t even eat apples!

Ecolo: Whaaaat? Picky, aren’t we…

Risukuma: We happen to have some cans of tuna and other foods here in the clubroom. Should we use one of those?

Ecolo: Will it really eat that stuff!? *SFX of can being peeled open* Heeeey, lil’ guy, you want some of this~?

Puppy: *curious puppy noises* *eating puppy noises*

Ecolo: Ahah! Wow, it ate it!

Maguro: And it’s eating really fast too. It must’ve been starving, poor thing.

Ecolo: Whoa… Eating for your life, huh? ….Wooow…. Huuuuh…? Hmm…. Ahaha! You wanna have some more food?

Puppy: *agreeing puppy noise*

Ecolo: Ahaha! Your voice is so funny~!

Ringo: Oh, wow, this might…

Maguro: Um, Ringo…?

Ringo: AAAALRIGHT, ECOLO! The others and I will be off now~!

Ecolo: Huh!?

Ringo: So take good care of the little guy, okay~?

Ecolo: T-T-TAKING CARE…??? ME???

Ringo: I mean, it doesn’t have an owner, right? It’s completely helpless on its own! It needs someone to look after it for a bit.

Maguro: Hm… Okay, I’ll be going home too★

Risukuma: And I, too, shall abscond for the day.

Ecolo: What? WHAT!?

Ringo: Alright, Ecolo! See ya~~!

[Footsteps of everyone leaving]

Ecolo: What… WHAAAAAAT!?!?!?

[Later]

Puppy: *whine*

Ecolo: Tch… I just wanted to show Ringo the funny, shivering furball I found! Why am I stuck doing this now!?

Puppy: *whine*

Ecolo: Urgh, let’s just ditch this thing here…

Puppy: *sad whine*

Ecolo: Don’t you give me that look! I’ve got better things to do, y’know! More fun things, and… Huh? Eww, something stinks… And why’s the floor all wet now? HUH!? Don’t tell me you peed yourself!? STOP IT!!

Puppy: *miserable whine*

Ecolo: Huh!? Why are you shivering again now? Are you cold? Are you hungry?

Puppy: *whine*

Ecolo: Uhh… What’s your problem…!!!

[The next day, birds are singing]

Ringo: Morning, Maguro~!

Maguro: Morning, Ringo!★

Ringo: You sure are up early today~

Maguro: Could say the same ‘bout you!★

Ringo: Eheheh! Guess you also wanted to and check out the situation in the clubroom, huh?

Maguro: Yep★

Ringo: I sure was surprised to see Ecolo, of all people, pick up a stray dog. I wonder how he’s been handling taking care of it so far~

Maguro: I sure hope he didn’t just dropkick it outta the clubroom window…

Ringo: Oh, you don’t gotta worry about that. I know he doesn’t seem like it, but Ecolo’s actually pretty…

[They open the clubroom door]

Ringo: Hey, Ecolo! Good morning!

Maguro: I hope the puppy is okay★

Ringo: Wait… They’re not here!

Maguro: Where did they go!?

Ringo: Ahhh, uhhh, ehhh… um… Huh!

Maguro: What, what’s happening?★

Ringo: You see that black puddle over there in the corner!? I… I think that’s Ecolo!

Maguro: WAAAAH!? T-Then…

Puppy: Woof! Woof, woof!

Maguro: T-That dog just came leaping out of the puddle!!!

Ecolo: *snor*

Ringo: I think Ecolo’s asleep…

Ecolo: Uhhh… Nooo… don’t pee yourself… go to sleeeep…. uhh…

Ringo: Ahaha! He’s still taking care of the puppy in his dreams!

Maguro: Looks like he used tissue paper to clean up the messes. There’s still some dog footprints all over here…Guess last night was dedicated to battling the little one’s bowels★

Puppy: Woof, woof, woof!

Ringo: Look at that doggy running circles around Ecolo!

Maguro: Guess I really didn’t need to worry, huh…★

Ecolo: Uhh… c’mon here where it's warm… stop shivering… uh…

Ringo: Yeah. Anyway, let’s let him rest for now…

[They close the door again.]

Puppy: WAFF! Woof, woof, woof! Woof!

Ecolo: Look, it’s a Puyo! Fetch!!

Puppy: Yip, yip!!

[dog running]

Ecolo: Hey, I said “fetch”! Not “catch and run off”!!

Puppy: Yip, yip! Woof? Woof-woof!

Ecolo: OH, C’MON!!!

Ringo: Ahh, it’s so peaceful these days~

Maguro: Can’t disagree there…★

Risukuma: Before we knew it, watching those two play by the riverbench has become part of our daily routine.

Ringo: That dog has really grown fond of Ecolo, too…

Ecolo: Alright, now, sit! …I said ‘sit’!

Puppy: Woof, woof!

Ecolo: Oh, c’mon!

Ringo: Ahahaha! Hey, Ecolo! You got trouble with obedience training?

Ecolo: And how! I mean, they got the easy tricks down by now, but…

Ringo: Oh, like what? Please demonstrate!

Ecolo: Sure, okay! Let’s go… Hey, Puppy! Do a 5-chain!

Ringo&Maguro&RIsukuma: What?

[Puyo Battle SFX]

Puppy: Woof! Wo-woof! Wowowooof! Wowowowoooof! Wohoooof!

Ecolo: Goood! Great job~!

Puppy: *happy puppy noises*

Maguro: That’s… not the skill-level you usually go for when training your dog…★

Ecolo: I was thinking about teaching them how to talk next!

Ringo: *laughing* Ecolo, dogs can’t talk!

Ecolo: Huh!? Are you serious?

Puppy: Yiiiip?

Ecolo: Whaaaat? I thought for sure they’d learn how to talk when they grow up! I was so looking forward to that too! Hey, hey, are you sure you can’t talk? Hey, try saying my name! Say ‘Ecolo’! ‘E-co-lo’!

Puppy: *confused whine*

Ecolo: We really won’t be able to talk? Nooo….!

Ringo: Uhm… A-Anyway, Ecolo! Do you have a name for the lil’ guy already?

Ecolo: A name…? Can’t I just keep calling them ‘puppy’?

Maguro: Then how are you gonna tell them apart from other puppies? You should really give them a name that’s all their own★

Ecolo: Uh? Uhm… Uhm… You pick one, Ringo!

Ringo: Okay! ‘Good-boy-Ecolo-found-ington’!

Maguro: Hey, Ecolo, maaaaybe relying on Ringo for names is kinda a bad idea...★

Ringo: You wanna say that again to my face, Mags?

Risukuma: You should probably give them a name that is easier to say and memorize.

Ecolo: Alright, then I’m gonna shorten it to “Ecomaru”~!

[Translator’s note: “-maru” is a common name ending for old-fashioned boy’s names in Japan. Ringo’s original suggestion here contained it. Dogs tend to be given old-fashioned names in Japan.]

Puppy: Woof! Woof-woof!

Ecolo: Ahahaha! That settles it! You’re Ecomaru now~!

[Rain SFX]

Ringo: It’s raining~♪ It’s raining~♪ It’s R-A-I-N-ing~! Just a raining afternoon in the physics-clubroom~It’s raining~♪

Risukuma: It is rather chilly outside today, wouldn’t you agree?

Maguro: I wonder if Ecomaru will be okay?

Risukuma: They have a reliable chaperone with them. I am sure they will be fine.

Ringo: You’re right! …Eheheheheh!

Maguro: You sure seem to be in a good mood today, Ringo.

Ringo: I mean, look at how much progress Ecolo’s made! He’s being so kind and gentle with Ecomaru.

Maguro: Yeah, you’re right★

Ringo: I mean, don’t get me wrong, I feel sorry for that puppy for having been abandoned, but I am really glad Ecolo met them. He hasn’t been up to his usual weird pranks at all anymore lately. Just watching the two of them together makes me really happy!

Maguro: That’s true. I do hope things stay this way★

[Rain SFX get louder]

Risukuma: Hm? I believe the rain has gotten a little stronger. I shall close the window for no-… Ooof!!

[Something shoots by]

Maguro: R-Risukuma! Are you okay!?

Ringo: Sounded like something shot at him! Wait… is that… an arrow with a letter on it!?

Risukuma: Y-Yes. There is no need to be alarmed. This is a letter from an acquaintance of mine. Let me see what it says… “I will be arriving shortly…?” Oh my, it sure has been a while.

Ringo: A-An acquaintance? Ris, who is that acquaintance, exactly?

Risukuma: Well, you see… Oh, it appears they have already arrived.

Ringo&Maguro: Huh?

[Sci-Fi SFX]

Ecolo: It’s sure pouring down today. Let’s wait it out under this bridge for a while~!

Puppy: Woof!

Ecolo: So, hey, Ecomaru?

Puppy: Yi~p?

Ecolo: Ringo said that you were abandoned, right?

Puppy: Yip?

Ecolo: So everybody forgot about you, and then you were all on your own?

Puppy: *whine*

Ecolo: Then I guess you’re the same as I was a while ago…

Puppy: Yipyipyipyip!!

Ecolo: Ahaha! Hey, don’t jump around, I’m being serious here! I’m ticklish… Ahaha… Anyway, it used to be the same for me. I was always on my own. And I thought I was fine that way.

Puppy: *questioning whine*

Ecolo: But you know, I’ve been having so much fun lately! Every day, there’s others around me. There’s people who go out of their way to remember I exist for me. And that’s why…

Puppy: Woof!

Ecolo: There’s so many fun things I wanna teach you, Ecomaru!

Puppy: Woof, woof!

Ecolo: Because you’re special, okay?

Puppy: Woof! Woooo~

Ecolo: Ahahahaha!

Puppy: Woof-woof, woof!

Ecolo: Huh?

Puppy: Woof-woof-woof! *excited yipping*

Ecolo: Huh, E-Ecomaru! What’s wrong!? You can’t just run out into the rain!

Ecolo: Wait… What is that!?

[Sci-Fi SFX, like an UFO is landing]

???: Would you happen to be called “Ecolo”?

Ecolo: Who… are you? You look a lot like Ecomaru…

???: We are from an extraterrestrial species that happens to resemble this planet's “dogs”. I am this child’s parent. We unfortunately got separated when they went astray during a sightseeing trip to earth. I have been looking for them ever since.

Puppy: *excited yipping and whining*

Alien: Ahaha… I see how it is. Did you miss home? My poor child.

Ecolo: Huh? …Ecomaru?

Alien: Ecolo, I must thank you for taking such good care of my child. You have my gratitude.

Ecolo: HOLD UP! So you’re just gonna… take them away!?

Alien: Uhm… Yes?

Ecolo: But, Ecomaru! I told you, didn’t I!? There’s still so many fun things I want to teach you…!

Puppy: *sad whine*

Ecolo: *screaming* Come here! Let’s go back together! I still want to play! I still want to play with you!!

Puppy: *whining*

Ecolo: *weakly* No… Please, no…

[Ecolo lowers his voice here.]

Ecolo: Alright… If you don’t want to play with me, I’ll have to make you play with me…!

Alien: …Ecolo!?

[Puyo SFX]

Ecolo: *sounding pissed* Let’s go… good. Pretty nice…!

Puppy: *yipping*

Ecolo: LOVELY TRICK!

[Ringo comes running]

Ringo: ECOLO, NO! NO, NO, STOP IT!

Ringo: …INTEGRAL!

[Ringo fires her spell and blocks Ecolo’s. It sounds like she’s taking the blow for the aliens too.]

Ecolo: What… Ringo?

Ringo: Ouch, ouch, that hurt…

Ecolo: Ringo! Don’t get in my way!

Ringo: Ecolo…

Ecolo: RINGO!

Ringo: I’m so sorry. We were the ones who told Ecomaru’s parents that you were out here.

Ecolo: What…?

Ringo: …Ecolo… Look…

Ecolo: Oh. I… get it…

Ringo: I’m so sorry…

Ecolo: They… have a home… a place they belong…

Ringo: *crying* I’m sorry! I’m so, so sorry…!

Ecolo: …It’s okay. I’m used to this anyway. Bye bye, Ecomaru. It’s fine. Just go and forget about me.

Ringo: *trembling voice* Ecolo…

Puppy: *whining* …Yip! Yip, yip, YIP!

Ecolo: What is it?

Puppy: Yip! E…Eco… Ecolo…!

Ecolo: Huh…?

Alien: Oh my… Ecolo. This was the first time my child has spoken a word. Their first word was your name!

Puppy: Ecolo! Ecolo!

Ecolo: Ecomaru…

Alien: I am sure they are trying to tell you that they will never forget you…

Puppy: Ecolo! Five-chaaaain!

Ecolo: …Ahaha. Ahaha, hahahaha! Yeah… Thank you, Ecomaru!

[UFO leaves SFX]

[Footsteps]

Maguro: Ringo! I-Is everything alright!?

Risukuma: What happened to Ecomaru?

Ringo: Oh… Maguro. Ris. Ecomaru already left, I’m afraid.

Risukuma: I see…

Maguro: S-So… How’s Ecolo taking it…?

Ringo: I… think he’ll be okay. Yeah. He’ll be just fine…

[Another day]

Ecolo: Heyo, Ringo! I’m swinging by for a visit~!

[EXPLOSION]

Ringo: GYAAH! ..Urgh! Ecolo! Could you NOT just come barging into the clubroom while I’m in the middle of an experiment!?

Maguro: Yeah, somebody could lose an eye!★

Ecolo: What are you guys up to today?

Ringo: Oh, I’m using the legendary art of alchemy to try and make a philosopher’s stone!

Ecolo: Wow! A classic!

Ringo: Hey, Maguro! Could you mix the yuzu-jam and salted sesame seeds over there into that glass of soy-sauce pickled nori, please?

Maguro: Pretty plebeian ingredient-selection, but okay★

[Door opens]

Risukuma: Why, hello everyone. It is nice to see we are all in one place today.

Ringo: Oh, hey, Ris!

Maguro: What’s that you got in your hand there? Wait! Isn’t that the same thing as back when…

Risukuma: This arrow-mail arrived at my place yesterday in the dead of night.

Ecolo: What’s up with this thing?

Risukuma: It is a message from Ecomaru’s parents. They wanted to inform us of how Ecomaru has been doing as of late.

Ecolo: Huh!?

Ringo: C-c’mon, Ris, read it out loud! Quick, quick!

Risukuma: Very well. Ahem… Let me begin.

Ecolo: I wonder if Ecomaru is doing well~?

Risukuma: Woof, woof, woof. Yip, yippity, yip. Snif, snif, bark.

Maguro: Hey, um… Ris?★

Ringo&Ecolo: We won’t get a thing if you read it in their language!!

Ok first of all Klug is the German word for smart.

And Klug is a nerd

He's seems something of a superiority complex. However, that book is important. The book of sealing. It houses half of a demon known as the Crimson Spirit.

Klug checked it out to study it, however, thanks to Lemres, the spirit was unleashed and he was possessed

But the worst part? No one seemed to care. The demon was resealed on accident.

He played it off like "that was a controlled experiment" but it was traumatizing.

He holds onto the book in hopes one day he can control its power.

Turns out he is very insecure. The lyrical version of his song in Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversay shows this pretty well, as does his route where he gets drunk (don't drink random potions) and at one point vents his insecurities at Amitie due to this

He generally has this "I'm better than you" air, but he's deeply insecure and wants to be a great Dark Mage one day

Whenever Katsuki came to Izuku’s door waving his Switch with an invitation to play a game long after his bedtime, it was always clear that something was bothering the blond. He worked through whatever was causing him duress by kicking Izuku’s butt at a video game of his choosing—better than the alternative of literally kicking his butt and risking them both having house arrest again, or worse.

Sometimes they would even talk about it. Not always; sometimes Katsuki would just stew in his feelings, and over time they would dissipate as he got lost in the game, but other times the thoughts would be too much and he would end up venting to Izuku about whatever was on his mind. He was proud, knowing that their relationship was at a point where Katsuki trusted him with his innermost thoughts.

So when his rival/friend showed up at his doorstep with a challenge of Puyo Puyo Tetris of all things, Izuku didn’t pry. He just let him in, grabbed his own console, and waited to see what Katsuki had to say this time.

“What do you think of Kirishima?”

Except that wasn’t what Izuku had been expecting at all. A random student who had particularly annoyed him during the day, poking fun at his past? Sure. An assignment he was nervous about? Maybe. But this?

His thumbs fumbled over the joystick, and the long piece he’d been about to place slammed down on the wrong spot, not getting the Tetris he wanted and also blocking up his next few moves. Next to him on the bed, Katsuku gave a derisive snort before sending several rows of garbage to Izuku’s screen.

“Aw man…” Izuku worked to clear some of it away before addressing the previous question. “What do you mean, what do I think of Kirishima?”

“I mean, what do you think of him?”

Izuku gave him a look. “That doesn’t clear anything up, Kacchan.”

“Just answer the damn question, nerd.”

“Well…” He ruminated on the question for a moment, the only sound between them the click of tetriminos slamming down and their characters’ battle cries. “...he’s a really nice person, and an amazing hero. I’ve noticed he’s been getting better in terms of his self-esteem in regards to his quirk, so he’s been able to push himself farther than he has before when he’s creating new ultimate moves—there was one I saw him trying out in training the other day and it was so cool! I forgot to ask him about it, I should do that tomorrow-”

“Deku,” Katsuki cut in, voice dripping with exasperation. Better than the fury he’d often aimed at him at the start of the year.

Still, Izuku flushed in embarrassment and muttered out a “sorry” before continuing. “But yeah, he’s a very capable hero, he’ll make it into the top ten for sure, especially since he’s so compassionate and gets along with pretty much anybody…but what do you think of him?”

Katsuki didn’t immediately answer. He also started making mistakes as he played, ones he usually wouldn’t. Izuku snuck a glance over; Katsuki’s eyes were locked onto the screen, but he looked distracted, his thumbs fumbling over the controls. What was most damning though was the bright red blush that stained his cheeks, illuminated by the flashing lights of the game.

Interesting.

Izuku paused the game, and that got Katsuki to snap out of his daze as he glared at the younger boy. “Oi, what the-”

“Kacchan, do you like Kirishima?”

Katsuki sputtered, “The fuck? Why the hell would I like that shitty-haired bastard?”

Izuku might have believed him if not for the flush spreading to the rest of Katsuki face and ears. Izuku cocked an eyebrow, looking at Katsuki in disbelief.

“I don’t!” Katsuki said, his voice rising a pitch in defense. “He’s a dumbass and a fucking himbo that I gotta help with class every goddamn day, and he always calls me ‘manly’ and shit whenever I do anything, which doesn’t make sense because all I did was explain basic fucking trig or some shit! And he’s always obsessing over his shitty hair and making sure his roots don’t show, and he makes me check them to make sure they’re not—which I do, otherwise I’m gonna hear his whining for the rest of the day. And he’s fucking smiley at anything that movies, like at the dogs he sees on patrol and when I make him something he likes for dinner and it’s fucking annoying! So no, for you information Deku, I don’t like that bastard.”

Katsuki’s chest was heaving from exertion after his miniature tirade, the red still ever present on his cheeks. Izuku just hummed, nodded, and with complete confidence said, “You know, that’s a lot of stuff to note about somebody you don’t like.”

Katsuki balked, opened his mouth, closed it, glared at Izuku with the power of a 100% Detroit Smash, before averting his gaze with a frown that looked more like a pout. “Fuck you.”

Izuku held back a snort, instead turning to fully face Katsuki. “I think it’s okay if you like Kirishima, you know. And I think you two would be a good match for each other! You’re already really good friends, and you balance each other out.”

While a small part of Izuku was a little envious of the friendship Katsuki had with Kirishima when their own had been shaky for the better part of ten years and was only starting to get better recently, the rest of him was glad that Katsuki had somebody like the redhead. Somebody who cared for him wholly, not for his quirk or his intelligence, but for him, rough edges and curse-riddled sentences and all.

“Whatever,” Katsuki mumbled shortly, but Izuku didn’t miss the soft look in his red gaze as he stared down at his lap, the small smile tugging at his lips. It only lasted for a brief moment before he was snatching his Switch back up, competitive smirk back on his face. “C’mon, lemme beat your ass real quick so I can go to bed.”

Izuku rolled his eyes but complied anyway. “You can’t beat me that easily, I’m good at this game t- how did you already send trash over?!”

Katsuki’s cackling could probably be heard across the entire second floor of the dorms. But he seemed better, so Izuku didn’t complain about the absolutely insane amount of garbage he had to clean up now. Not much, anyway.

“Hey, Midoriya!”

Izuku looked back, pausing in his walk back to the dorms as he saw Kirishima jogging up to him. “Hi Kirishima! Is everything okay?”

The redhead stopped next to him, slightly panting. Still, he had his usual bright smile as he nodded. “Yeah, everything’s fine! But um-” His smile turned sheepish then, his hand going up to scratch the back of his neck like he tended to do when he was nervous. “Is it cool if I talk to you for a minute? Alone…?”

His eyes flicked up to look over Izuku’s shoulder, and he looked back as well; Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, and Tsuyu, who he had been walking with, were all still there, watching the exchange unfold. “Oh, sure. I”ll meet you guys back at the dorms.” He waved after his friends as they continued walking, and Izuku and Kirishima fell into step a ways back, trailing behind the rest of the class. “So, what’s going on?” It was a little strange for Kirishima to be coming to Izuku for help with something. Not that he minded, of course not! He was honored that his classmates felt that they could come to him in times of need, a far cry from middle school. But usually Kirishima would go to Katsuki, or Kaminari, or any of the rest of his own friend group.

“Nothing much.” Kirishima still looked nervous, and there was also a light pink tint to his cheeks now. “I just wanted to ask you something about Bakugou, since you’ve known him the longest and all.”

Ah. That made a lot more sense. It made Izuku more curious, though. “Okay…what about him? I don’t think he’d be very happy if I gave you embarrassing stories from our childhood.”

“Nah, it’s not that!” Kirishima laughed, before gaining a thoughtful expression. “I wouldn’t mind getting some of those, though, just between the two of us. But no, uh, I-I wanted to know how to impress him.”

Izuku blinked up at him. “Impress Kacchan?”

“Y-Yeah! Just, y’know, out of curiosity.” By his darkening face and the skin visible between his fingers that were still over the back of his neck, Izuku could deduce that Kirishima wanted to know for more than curiosity’s sake.

Izuku’s gaze drifted ahead, finding Katsuki near the front of the group. He was with Kaminari and Ashido, and even from this distance Izuku could tell that they were purposefully annoying him, Katsuki’s shouts heard several feet away, though the words were indecipherable. It wouldn’t have been as bad if Kirishima were up there with him instead of back here with Izuku, the redhead possessing a gift to mollify even the loudest Baku-rages without making Katsuki feel like he was in the wrong.

And that was the thing. Throughout their first year Izuku has seen the depth of Kirishima’s influence on Katsuki, their influence on each other. There was a hard-earned trust formed early on, an understanding of each other that Katsuki might not have initially noticed but it was still there. It was how they got along so well, how Kamino had ended in the best outcome imaginable. They just got each other. And after his talk with Katsuki the other night…

Kirishima was wanting to impress Katsuki, but he was the last person who needed to. Because he already had.

“Why don’t you try being yourself?” Izuku said aloud.

“Myself?” Kirishima’s head tilted, confusion evident on his face. “Why would he be impressed with just myself?”

Kacchan was right, he really is a himbo, Izuku thought.

“Well, Kacchan already likes you enough to call you his friend—not that he would use those exact words since he still acts like he’s allergic to friendship—and he seems closer to you than everybody else, so…” Izuku shrugged. “Yeah.”

Kirishima stared at Izuku with wide eyes like he’d told him the secrets of the universe—or maybe even those aforementioned embarrassing Katsuki stories—his mouth slightly agape, before his gaze was drawn to the boy in question. Katsuki had finally managed to fend off Kaminari and Ashido, and he was stomping up the stairs to the doors of Heights Alliance. Before he went inside his gaze turned out to the school grounds, narrowed eyes sweeping the class before they landed on the redhead. They held each other’s gaze for a brief moment, but it was long enough for Izuku to see the happy grin on Kirishima’s face as he waved, the softening of Katsuki’s eyes and the reddening of his cheeks as he gave a little wave back before hurrying inside.

Kirishima lowered his hand, staring after the closing door with a look Izuku could only describe as positively lovesick, drooping eyes, dopey smile and all. “Yeah…maybe you’re right.” He turned a giddy smile Izuku’s way. “Thanks, man! I really appreciate it!” And with a hard clap of a hand on Izuku shoulder Kirishima was running off toward Heights Alliance. Chasing Katsuki down, no doubt.

Izuku shook his head as he watched him go, but he couldn’t help but smile. Katsuki and Kirishima really would be good for each other. Izuku just hoped that their conversations with him would help them confess their feelings for the other sooner rather than later.

Welcome! to our little side-blog, made to house our,,, EXTREMELY "family friendly" Baldur's Gate 3 exploits featuring two Puyo Puyo nerds slotting even worse versions of their two favorite characters (but not the worst! haha); Tav Sig (@iknowicanbutwhy) and Tav Schezo (@teaspoonofdragons).

Helloo! :) anon is back after what feels like a while but probably isn’t :’) Can I make a request for and arcade date with Toya whose S/O who loves going to arcades but kinda sucks at all the games so Toya has to teach them how to play them better? Arcade date with Toya!

It's been a week since you went to the arcade with Toya. You were awestruck when he excelled at all the video games he played, even your favorites. Too bad you sucked at them, but luckily, he was there to teach you.

"Ah, y/n. I think you should put that there, it would really benefit," his soft voice informed you, gray eyes fixated on the screen.

Now you were returning to that same arcade a week later with more skill from practicing. You smiled to yourself as you walked in the building and waved to Toya. He waved back and you run up to go meet him.

"Toya! Why don't we go play [favorite game]?" You suggested. He smiled and you two ran over to the game.

After fifteen minutes, your eyes glimmered as you saw the words high score on the screen.

"Toya, we did it!" You exclaimed and hugged him. He smiled, hugging you back. The tickets came out of the machine, and you two went over to buy something from the ticket shop. Your eyes scanned the prize wall, looking for something to buy until you laid your eyes on something: a green puyo plush. You looked at the tickets in your hand, just enough to buy the plush. And you did.

"This is for me?" Toya asked you. You nodded, "Thank you," he brought you close and kissed your forehead.

The next time you came over, you laid down on his bed, and the first thing you noticed was a plush. The green puyo one you bought for him. You grabbed it and hugged it as you smiled to yourself.

How did you get into Fire Emblem? Older brother has exposed me to many franchises I liked, with this time being him showing me a bit of FE7 on his totally legal GBA. From there I eventually played it myself but first got to complete Awakening later on and it snowballed from there.

What Fire Emblem games have you played? All of them barring FE1, 3, 5, and Three Hopes. FE4 is also technically there but I have attempted to start it many times; oh and FE12 as well.

If you were an Engage character, which Emblem would you Engage with? Sigurd would be my pure gameplay pick, but Ike would be really fun to vibe with [he's probably my favorite lord behind Alm!]

How did you find TOA? Short story: N. Longer-ish story: I started to desire trying to RP again, especially with my rekindled interest in FE thanks to Engage's reception, and then I begun hanging out with N more and he told me more about this place. Yeah, said it was only longer-ish.

Current TOA muses: Mae, Sonya

Who was your first TOA muse? If you don’t have them anymore, could you see yourself picking them up again? Mae is someone I saw (not too highly) placed on 2022-2023's Most Wanted list and I knew I wanted to do an Echoes muse to start. I don't know if they mesh with my own personality/style well, but they are definitely fun to play around with still. :>

Have you had any other TOA muses? Shamir was a short project that got smashed up due to a busy summer/nerves, but I do want to visit her again someday. Her voice and personality is very strong, but might not be for me.

Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards? Magic cool. Pegasus knights cool. Sword people cool! Personality-wise, I think I try to veer more toward social muses, which like I said w/ Mae doesn't really fit me in real life but...hehe.

What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? I'm still trying to find a general vibe, but I really do like writing scenarios that deep-dive into muses' thoughts, like...not 100% angst, but still not light?

Favorite TOA-related memory: I'm still young but running in right as everyone started kissing each other and being able to join was...very good.

Got any delusions that didn’t see the light of day in TOA that you’d like to share? I somewhat shown off my more out-there delusions via tier lists (highlights being Yglr from a very brief attempt to bandwagon from FEH Book II hype before reminding myself why I hate bandwagoning) and I made my interest in Citrinne pretty public, but currently (when I am NOT getting absorbed into Alm-route side material oh god spare me please) I am desiring Anna Fire Emblem. No specification on which one, because that's part of the fun for me too :)

dreamt tonight i was playing a game like among us that expected you to actually play in real time. like one event passes, the group sits for discussion, then the decision is made and you wait until the next full day to pass and then come back and play. there was also no form of contact and none of us knew how to get there. so essentially if you wanted to play you were expected to never leave.

the setting of this area was like a heavily decorated middle school library setup. like a teacher us trying to make kids interested in reading by setting up cool coves for information and draping the areas not important in cloth and decoration. more specifically it was designed like a dark teal alien/spaceship environment, with pops of radioactive green coloring and divided into several circular coves.

over time this group, instead of dwindling in numbers, grew larger and larger until it became the size of a small village. the original host became the leader and progressively more and more preachy, but he was always right and so the people followed him.

at one point he predicts an attack from outside forces. i cant remember the specifics of what the attack was, because how it was "solved" baffled me more than anything. i was at some point taken into a dreamscape (within this dreamscape) where i was set in front of a large cottage overgrown with foliage and sitting in a large wooded clearing. important to note im not actually "there" im just. observing. like a camera. i watch as two versions of me walk up to the house, pause for a while, and then are approached by me as one person, but twice the size. i literally have no idea what the specifics were of what this meant but i know that somehow this was the solution to ending that invasion and it was like some sort of. ascension type of thing. also all three of these figures looked like ally puyo puyo (NOT rafisol ever but only ally)

helpful advice for madou saturn if you can't read japanese but your autism demands that you absorb everything on the disc into your genome

courtesy of a guy who's beaten the game multiple times and is now attempting to datamine it

heads up: this is a work in progress. I’ll be updating as i replay the game. currently i’m writing from memory or copying from other sources (linked at the bottom)

first off

sleeping in arle’s bed refills the entire party’s health

press the right shoulder button to show enemy health bars. doesn't work on bosses

beating the game adds a star to the save file, which increases the difficulty and adds some extra content. you have to play it at least twice if you want all the cgs because of draco and witch’s routes having two exclusives each

immediately after the falling star cutscene light the fireplace in arle’s house, then interact with it from the right-front. that’ll open the basement, which has good items behind doors that can be opened by specific party members

random tips

there’s items hidden behind almost every house

certain enemies can be one-shotted automatically by specific attacks. for instance, sword of darkness OHKOs star puyos, and haganshou OHKOs rock puyos. omae ga hoshii also has a chance to OHKO non-boss enemies

in kokochoi there's a shopkeeper that sells powerful gloves for less than he buys them back for. momomo hangs out in the same town and sells some good shit so take advantage

when momomo joins your party backtrack and have him talk to every traveling merchant you can find. they'll give you free items

also with momomo in the party toss gold into the fountain in refresh town for some armor/weapon stars

there’s a few objects that rulue can punch for extra items. list to be added

Draco: can grab things from high ledges

Witch: repairs rusty/dented objects

Momomo: opens a shop menu

Lagnus: refills the party’s special meters

also the plant in arle’s house reacts to most abilities. i dont think there’s a reason for it but it’s kinda funny

most of these really just boil down to ‘talk to a particular npc as a particular character’

-before rulue joins the party, raid her room (the locked door in her mansion) as mino and take the star knuckles and sun dress

-a cool friendly nice friend buddy guy is hiding behind the bar in refresh town

-after beating the game once, sleep in arle’s bed with lagnus in the party

-the a.b.g has a bunch of dialogue. idk what it says tho

secret items

in hott village look behind the signpost, then search around the well for a magic crystal

once baby lagnus is freed, go to satan’s tower and look under the throne for some goodies for rulue

in kaiso use draco’s jump behind one of the houses for an onion earring

after beating the game once, bonk one of the rocks in kaiso five times as rulue and a secret room will open

puzzles that don’t translate

during the detective event go to the house in the middle. i encourage you to get it wrong at least once tho because schezo getting beat up is funny

after the detective event when ladies are giving you riddles, pick the middle option for the first (the one with the 3s in the text), the top for the second, and the top again for the third

when CG#13 is shown (the one where schezo is being interrogated near a cave exit) pick the first option, the third twice, the middle once, then the first again.

during the recap in the crystal prison, pick the last option. though there’s no punishment for getting it wrong aside from rulue chewing you out
