How does the spooder sleep?
Tumblr media
A study on drider sleep positions.
The belly sleeper - not as comfy as it looks - looks like you face planted - standing up is fast
2. The side sleeper - comfy - spider leg salad 3. The dead spider - you look pretty dead - comfy for the drow spine - standing up involves a lot of wriggling
4. The sleeping giraffe - hella cute - spine will hurt tho

Arachnophilia (Part One)
Drider!Miguel O'Hara x Reader (+18)
Chapter Masterlist 🕷️
Tumblr media
You're a new recruit to the spider society, and you've just been sent on your first mission on one condition: Do not contact Miguel's variant in this universe. When your mission goes wrong you break that rule very quickly, desperate for help, only to find that Miguel's variant here is not what you expected. He's stoic but kind, awkward but sincere, and he's also an enormous human-spider hybrid: A drider, both human and arachnid. You decide to continue seeing Miguel in secret, with the rest of the society unaware. You really want to stay friends after all. That is, until Miguel suddenly goes into a rut. Word count: 2457 Notes: fun little thing i cooked up while ill and after being inspired by a mutuals work. chap 1 + 2 set up and characters meeting, chap 3 and onward is the smut, enjoy x
‘Hey! You got a mission!’
You glanced up from your desk and peeped around your holographic screen, curiously perusing for whoever had called. A mission? Who was it this time?
You spotted Jess making her way down the opposite hall to you, her eyes scanning the other desks. Ah, of course, you knew her voice anywhere. So this was an elite mission. With your curiosity now fully peeked you slyly leaned your chair even further out into the corridor, eyes peeled to try and see who she went towards.
One of the new Peters, perhaps? They were always clambering for a mission. Or perhaps the new Gwen? She certainly thought she deserved a solo mission, and she wasn’t even wrong.
You became so enraptured with your own office snooping that you entirely missed Jess as she walked up behind you.
‘You okay there?’
You jumped in your chair and nearly fell to the floor, only barely catching yourself on the rim of your desk. ‘AH- Oh, hi! Yes! Yes, all good. All- fine. What is up, boss?’
Jess flatly squared her hands on her hips. ‘I was literally calling you with exactly what is up’ she noted drolly. ‘You got a mission.’
You felt your shoulders tense as your stomach dropped. Your fear must have been clear because Jess immediately raised a brow.
You were getting sent out? Finally? You?
You swallowed down the growing lump in your throat. It was a justified fear, at least in your mind, as if this was true this would be your first big mission for the Spider Society. No more fighting minor crime in your own home city, now you were patrolling the multiverse.
‘Well?’
You jumped a second time as Jess interrupted your thoughts. It was very clear that you were wasting her time.
‘Oh! Ah, shit- yes, sorry.’ In a hurry you pushed your chair back and hopped to your feet, struggling to look as professional as you could. Jess’s face hardly moved. She seemed to be eyeing you up, making tiny little conclusions in her mind that you couldn’t see.
Luckily that didn’t last. Her face quickly changed back to that casual smile, and with a wave of her hand she beckoned you to follow. ‘My god you’re tightly wound. They were right. Come on!’
You quickly powered down the PC you’d been doing busywork on and rushed to follow her.
‘I thought Miguel was the only Spider who didn’t have senses. I've never seen another spider surprised like that’ Jess noted over her shoulder as you followed. You opened your mouth to reply but were cut off as you both exited the research block, with the sliding doors revealing a bright and blinding midday sun beaming down through the glass walls above. You shielded your eyes and hurried to catch up.
‘I do have senses, sorry, just- I’m still getting used to being here. I thought I lost it, actually, funny story, but uh- no, see I don’t know if you ever got told this, but apparently, I heard from one of the older Peter’s there’s this unofficial but pretty established thing called sense fatigue.’
‘Ahuh.’ Jess was obviously just trying to get to Miguel’s office as quickly as possible at this point, but you didn’t notice. You continued rambling.
‘It’s like whisker fatigue on cats, did you know cats got that? So spiders, we’re so used to being the only ones with senses, that when you first join the society it kinda exhausts your senses being around SO many other people that it stops working as well. I think that’s what’s happening to me. Did that ever happen to you?’
‘Nope.’
Jess’s curt response didn’t dampen your spirits. You eagerly jogged along the final main beam towards the go-home machine, jumping and dodging the other spiders as they went by.
‘Huh! Well that’s why you’re an elite, probably, right? Along with other reasons, I’m sure.’
‘Many other reasons’ Jess said.
‘But uh- I’m sure it’s fine. It’s better at home so, won’t affect me on the mission.’
‘Let’s hope not.’
With that being the final word Jess led you down the corridor towards Miguel’s office. It was darker there than the rest of the HQ, down in these tight-knit spaces covered in half-made junk and unfinished tech. You had to jump over multiple loose wires and metal plates to get to the door.
‘Miguel! I got who you asked for!’
You scurried up to Jess’s back as you both entered into Miguel’s domain. It was enormous in scope, dark and shadowed with jagged metal spires reaching so far up that you couldn’t see where they ended. In the centre of the room was that signature floating desk, and on that signature floating desk was the man himself.
Miguel O’Hara, slouched over his desk with his hackles raised and his neck bent.
‘Miguel! I brought ‘em over.’
Jess’s call caused him to pause. He was midway through typing something.
‘The new one?’
His voice was smooth, gruff and cold. It sent a shiver down your spine.
‘Yep. The new one.’
With a grunt Miguel finished typing and turned to face you. You jumped as he dropped down from his desk to the floor.
God he was pretty. You felt your heart thud a little harder as he stared down at you, hands carefully placed on his hips to highlight his shoulders.
No, not pretty. He was beautiful. You struggled to stand up a little taller.
‘Hi! Hello, ah- sir, you wanted me for a mission?’
Miguel looked you up and down like he could see through to your very soul. It was very strangely violating to be stared at by those cold red eyes. After giving you the up and down he turned and manifested a new screen at his back.
‘You’re going to E-298. There’s a vulture anomaly.’
‘Ah! Alright. Sounds, do-able. Who am I with?’
‘No one.’
You blanked. Your mouth moved but no words came out. ‘No- no one? Sir?’
Miguel grunted. ‘Somethings up. Almost everyone right now is busy, there’s anomalies everywhere, which is why I’m sending you to clear this up.’
‘Uh- I mean, Jess, is—’
‘Jess is coming with me to deal with an anomaly hole in E-345’ Miguel barked, quickly cutting you off. You pursed your lips on any further complaints.
‘Just subdue and cage the bad guy, then send him back here. Lyla will deal with any larger anomalies. Can you handle that?’
You shuffled your feet to hide how hot you felt. You shouldn’t be indulging this, but your body was reacting quite strangely to being ordered around by the larger man.
‘Ah- yes, sir’ you replied. Miguel nodded his approval, and you ate it up.
‘Good. I’ll need you to head out immediately.’
When Miguel failed to say anything else you assumed that it was time to go, and quickly turned to leave. Short and brief, you thought, what more could you expect though? He was a busy man after all.
But then Miguel spoke again.
‘Wait!’
You paused and turned to see Miguel holding up a single claw. His eyes were narrowed, his brows knotted in a way that was unusually intense even for him. You hated the way you cowered under his shadow.
‘I- I don’t usually bring this up, but, you’re… new, so I want to warn you’ he said, his voice going low. You noticed his nose flaring as he came closer, almost like he was breathing something in. You stood rigid beneath his enormous body. ‘This universe you’re going to, is- home to one of my variants.’
Your eyes widened a little, your mouth forming a soft ‘oh’. ‘Ah! Okay! Is, will you- or, he, I guess- will he be helping—’
‘Stay away from him’ Miguel barked. ‘My variations are not to be trusted. Understood?’
You slowly closed your mouth, giving a short nod.
‘Yes, sir. Of course.’ You pursed your lips as Miguel returned the nod. He slunk back to his office without a second word, and you followed Jess out of the office.
….
Later that day
...
‘God- damn it!’
You stumbled across the street floor, hand clutched to your side. You were hiding in a back alley of a smoking building, your body covered in dust and debris. The muted, muffled screams of a frustrated vulture filled the otherwise empty street.
With a grunt you pressed your back to the wall of the opposing building. It was dark here and the bricks were wet against your suit. You forcefully and awkwardly pulled your mask aside to breath.
Your fight with the vulture hadn’t gone as planned. You’d started out well enough, but that’d just made you cocky. In an attempt to do your best you’d overstretched your web mechanism to the point of jamming it, and you’d soon been overpowered by your feathery opponent.
A few tosses into the wall had bruised at least one rib, and your muscles were straining to even stand.
‘I need… back up…’
It hurt to admit, but you had no other choice. You raised your portal watch and began scanning for anyone you could call for help.
You scrolled, and scanned, and scrolled and scanned until your finger hurt from scrolling. Your movements grew more frantic as your gut began to sink. No, no, no. You could feel your panic rising. Every spider you brought up had an X beside them, meaning they were out of reach for contact.
‘Shit- Shit! Everyone?! It’s really everyone?!’
X after X after X. there was no one who could help you now.
With a soft whine you sank back against the wall, gripping its sides for stability. This was bad, this was REALLY bad. Really, REALLY bad.
You gently cracked your knuckle against the damp bricks at your back. Idiot, you thought. Why had Miguel thought you were worthy to be in this society? Why had you taken the position at all?
In that moment, you felt very much alone.
But, wait. You weren’t the only spider in this universe, right?
Your eyes trailed down to your watch where it’d fallen on Miguel. His symbol for availability was red like the others, but it reminded you of what he’d said. He had a variant here.
Miguel said his variants weren’t to be trusted, but, why? It was strange for him to be so cagey with information like that. Miguel was famously too honest, too blunt, often to his detriment. He only left stuff out if it was inconvenient.
So, what was the issue? Your mind had, at first, gone to the worst possibilities. That he was a mad scientist, or a venom variation, or was so messed up by the DNA splicing that he was incapable of reason.
That didn’t have to be the case though, did it? Perhaps it was something else.
You unceremoniously scrambled to check your things. You had your weapons. You had your watch. Surely if he was dangerous you could just escape, and you could apologize to Miguel later for not listening to him.
Besides, what choice did you have? Either you failed to get the vulture and went back in disgrace, or it turned out Miguel’s variant is a bad guy and you go home in disgrace again. The only good option was the reveal that Miguel’s variant was just, weird, or made him feel inadequate, or wanted $10 for helping out. Thing’s that Miguel could conceivably view as making him unworthy to be a spider society member.
With that desperate cope you made up your mind. You drew your watch to your lips and whispered.
‘Lyla? Hey, Lyla?’
‘What’s up, newbie.’
The snazzy little AI appeared on your wrist, eagerly pacing back and forth as she waited for orders. You swallowed hard; it was now or never.
‘Ah- you, can trace people in this universe, right?’
‘Yep.’
‘You could, theoretically, trace any spiders here?’
‘Yeeeppp.’
‘Could… could you uh, please, trace the Miguel O’Hara in this universe, for me?’
At that Lyla paused. She spun on her heel with dramatic flair, her glasses falling down her nose without her even touching them. She looked surprised.
‘Wow! Didn’t take you for a risky little sneak.’
‘I’m not! I’m just- I need some help and everyone else is busy.’
‘Ahuh. Whatever you say, I don’t care. Honestly I’m just excited someone asked me. I’ve wanted to see his freaky variants for years, but he won’t ever let me look it up. Since you asked though, I got immunity.’
You tried not to think too much about the implications of what she’d said. You lay back and waited for Lyla to complete her scan, all while very aware of the vulture’s continued destruction going on in the building beside you. For now he was contained in there, as you’d put up a light shield, but that wouldn’t last forever.
Please let this work, you pleaded internally. Please.
‘Aha! Got ‘im.’
You let out a sigh of relief as Lyla re-appeared. ‘Great! Where is he?’
‘He’s close’ Lyla cooed, waving a fake document in front of you that was too small to read. You gestured with your hand for her to hurry up.
‘Yes! Okay! Where?’
‘The pine forest park just beyond the city line, to the north. Looks like he’s pretty deep in there.’
You felt your enthusiasm die just a little. He was in a forest? Why? You felt a little pang of anxiety in your gut about this whole thing, but you quickly shut it down as the vulture’s rampage grew louder. No, it was probably fine. Maybe he just had a hidden base in the woods, that was normal, right?
Besides, you didn’t have time to spare. Either he helped or didn’t, and if he didn’t want to help you needed to know that sooner than later.
‘Okay. Thanks Lyla, I owe you.’
‘Everyone does.’
Lyla zipped out of existence as you swung yourself back into the open air, flinging your body way above the city skyline. Up here, with the clear sky and wide-open city scape, you immediately spotted what Lyla had been talking about: an enormous pine forest way off in the distance, hugging the cities edge like a sleeping bear. It looked thick, untamed, and its edges were dark beneath the clouds of an oncoming storm.
You swung your way through the streets and watched the trees grow closer.
‘Alright’ you whispered, your body soaring through the sky. ‘Let’s meet the new Mr O’Hara.' Link to part two!

Chaos Witch Arachne Queen - CR19 Aberration
A powerful drider boss with fire powers, based on Quelaag from Dark Souls.
Tumblr media
Artwork by Robotico2 at DeviantArt.
This is my 200th post on this blog, so I thought I’d release something pretty over-the-top.
Quelaag is a lava-spewing arachne boss from Dark Souls 1.  I like driders, I like the idea of unique driders that have been granted special powers, and I thought that translating this boss fight to Pathfinder would work really well - maybe better than it works in Dark Souls, honestly, considering that game’s janky movement and how difficult its camera makes it to see the floor.
Unlike typical driders which all have the upper body of drow, the Chaos Witch Arachne Queen is a fair-skinned surface elf - thus the term “drider” isn’t actually accurate for her.  Her mother, consorting with the demon lord Flauros in an attempt to forcibly bring light to the Darklands - one of the same demon lords that the drow worship as deities - was overwhelmed by the demonic powers she touched.  She was destroyed, and in the process, cursed her daughters with the same kind of arachnid transformation that affects driders.  The Chaos Witch Arachne Queen now attempts to light the dark caverns with her chaos flames.  Drow and other driders consider her and her followers to be enemy invaders.
The name “chaos witch” comes from Queelag’s title in Dark Souls, and I kept it even though I made this monster a cleric.  She’s not a witch herself, but her followers are witches, taking her as their patron and gaining the power of the chaos flames.
Note that obsidian weapons are normally fragile, but magic obsidian weapons are unaffected by the fragile penalties and work like any other weapon except that their hardness is halved (2 instead of 5, in this case).
Chaos Witch Arachne Queen - CR 19
Embedded into the back of this massive burning spider is the upper body of a pale-skinned woman with dark hair and distinctly elven features.  Lava drips from the spider’s mouth, and flames erupt from the cracks between the segments of exoskeleton covering the arachnid body.  All together, this aberration stands perhaps fourteen feet tall and twenty feet wide, and could easily stretch out to twice those dimensions if needed.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Divine Chaos Protection (Su) Once per hour, when a creature within 60 ft. of the chaos witch arachne queen makes any d20 roll, after the results of the roll are revealed, she can force the d20 to be rerolled with either a +1d20 or -1d20 bonus (her choice).  After she does so, she loses her spell resistance for the next hour.
Fire Bolts (Su) As a standard action, a chaos witch arachne queen can unleash 4 scorching bolts of divine fire from her outstretched hand.  Each bolt targets a single foe within 60 feet as a ranged touch attack (typically with +21 to hit).  If she hits the foe, the fire bolt deals 2d6+8 points of fire damage and leaves the target vulnerable to fire until the end of her next turn.
Magma Touch (Su) A chaos witch arachne queen deals an additional 6d6 fire damage whenever she succeeds on a melee attack, including her bite attack, combat maneuvers, and touch attacks.  This damage is already included in her melee attacks in her statistics above.
Mental Resilience A chaos witch arachne queen’s headband of mental resilience allows her to ignore the first 5 points of ability damage or drain she takes per day.
Poison (Ex) Bite—injury; save Fort DC 30; frequency 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d3 Str and Wis; cure 2 saves. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Profanity of the Flames (Su) A chaos witch arachne queen gains a profane bonus to her AC and all of her damage rolls equal to her Wisdom bonus.  This is already calculated into her statistics and abilities.
Spells A chaos witch arachne queen casts spells as a 15th-level cleric with the fire and chaos domains, but does not gain any other class abilities.
Spew Magma (Ex) Three times per day, a chaos witch arachne queen can spew a large pool of magma over the ground around her.  Creatures within a 40-foot cone and within a 20-foot radius around the chaos witch arachne queen take 16d6 fire damage.  A DC 30 Reflex save halves this damage.  Additionally, the ground in that area becomes coated in magma, dealing 8d6 fire damage to any creature that enters the magma-coated area or ends its turn in it, with no saving throw.  A creature that leaves the area of magma continues to take 2d6 fire damage per round at the start of each of its turns for 1d3 rounds as it burns.  The magma fills the affected area to a depth of 2-3 inches and counts as difficult terrain.  After 29 rounds, the magma hardens and is safe to touch.
After a chaos witch arachne queen has used this ability, she cannot use it again on her next turn.
Undersized Weapons (Ex) Although a chaos witch arachne queen is Gargantuan, her upper torso is the same size as that of a Medium humanoid’s upper torso.  As a result, she wields weapons as if she were three size categories smaller than her actual size (typically Medium).

for OC questions: roll 2d20 four times for both cuthbrand and sylric :3c
CUÐBRAND - human revenant vengeance paladin
5. what is a specific, defining physical feature that they have?
his nose is my favorite part of him to draw! it’s been broken a few times and has healed a little wonky. I like characters with unique noses, they’re very fun!
13. what does their handwriting look like?
it’s not the best, but it's legible - definitely quite angular with very few curved lines. I’m pretty sure I decided that he’s ambidextrous, but he prefers to write with his right hand to avoid smudges.
22. if they were to have a social media profile, what would it look like? the username, bio, type of thing they’d post about, etc.
he has an active grindr, other than that he might have a facebook page he never uses except to lurk in groups? he wouldn't be technologically illiterate, but he would actively try to avoid social media.
no, wait. he has reddit but only posts about fishing, foraging, and camping.
37. what is their zodiac sign?
he’s a leo! he was born on august 13th.
SYLRIC - drider whispers bard
11. what does a usual outfit of theirs look like?
sylric enjoys the finer things in life - he’s worked very hard to surround himself and his fiancé darling with luxury. he enjoys quality fabrics, especially the ones that darling has embroidered, and he makes his own lace. his taste is fairly baroque (which extends to his opinions on interior design) and he usually wears very richly ornamented doublets or a matched vest and coat. and a big feathery hat, of course.
12. do they tend to hold a lot of tension in their body? if so, where?
sylric carries most of his tension in his shoulders and back, which wasn’t designed to be magically attached to a giant spider body. he sprawls out on the floor with his torso on the bed to sleep most nights to try and relax.
15. when was the last time they cried?
if it wasn’t the last time he and darling went adventuring separately, it was probably fake-crying at the antique store to get a sympathy discount <3 he has no shame
26. do they like to collect things? if so, what?
he collects useless glass and china knickknacks, mostly shaped like various classic D&D creatures - he has a whole windowsill of just mimics. (I picture them as similar to the wade whimsies/red rose tea figurines and glass birds that every grandma collects!)

Having started my 2nd DND campaign about two and a half months ago-I thought I'd share how it's going.
After finishing our curse of strahd campaign my players were more than excited to get started with our homebrew campaign (which I decided to throw together after wotc pulled that shit with the ogl a bit ago) but the world was nowhere near finished so my players actually helped me build the world. Making gods, lore, prominent NPCs and even helping me with the world's timeline to some extent. I honestly feel like I got away with dumping the majority of world building onto them! (Which isn't true in the slightest but they helped like so much omg)
We started our session 0 with boundaries and expectations as well as adding some safe words people can use if things are getting uncomfortable. Which so far hasn't been used but I check in regularly anyway.
Session 1-3 we introduced everyone
Ukko- the fallen aasmair cleric of Anaca(the matron of the wilds)
Jolene- the tiefling artificer sorcerer (who owns a shop and has split custody of their nibbling Archie)
Colt- the forest gnome druid (not a follower of Anaca strictly but is following behind Ukko on a Spiritual journey)
Cas- the changeling bard who accidentally stumbled I to the material plane and is now incredibly confused why they can see and talk to ghosts and is now disguised as a human
Iona- the tiefling bard who is currently being exploited by the internship they have at the local Athenaeum (it's like a library/magic school roll with it)
Anyway - through a series of weird events the party discovers that people are being turned into animals by some miracle elixir! They track down the source- a green hag in the woods disguised as an old lady- they take her down and bring her in for a reward and then they spend the evening celebrating at a fancy inn :)
Session 4-5 was a sort of interlude where I was feeling out the next adventure I kept tossing them plot hooks but nothing stuck so they spent this time running Jolene's shop (an antique store that's a cover for illegal gun sales)
Session 6-8
We began with a time skip of about a week to get to the weekend that Jolene's nibbling comes over. Archie is like 14 and going through teifling puberty ( they started out human and are slowly becoming a teifling cuz of a bloodline thing) and they are introduced to the party at ✨ fantasy Red Robin's ✨ where while having a wonderful time - Cas saw the ghost of a pirate -who immediately clocked that Cas can see him- and he began harassing them into helping him get back to his ship! After some Scooby Doo hijinks of trying to convince the party that there's a g-g-g-ghost everyone decides to help the ghost but unsure of how to find a ship in a landlocked city they wait till the next day so colt can cast "locate object". Eventually they find their way to the underground trolley system of the city and find an abandoned tunnel leading to a cave system that's just covered in spiders. They end up getting past the illusion puzzle meant to take up at least 10 minutes in 2 minutes and find a room filled with giant spiders!
After the spiders are epically dispatched the party debates what all these spiders down here mean- one of the players brings up the water that's on the floor and discovers it's salty which makes no fuckin sense under a land locked city and while discussing if they should go to the next room they hear a voice from above say "looks like it's dinner time" and they look up to see a Drider on the ceiling of the cave
Next session we'll be starting in combat with the Drider ready to kick some ass 🕸️🕷️🤗 the PC of Ukko has been absolutely enthralled with the meaning of the underdarks existence in tbe world -which hasn't been mentioned before - but he absolutely adores the underdark :) did i mention they're all lvl 3? I'm pretty sure they can handle it

Lost the question prompts but heres a thing:
1.) Game Master, Player or both? Why?
I play both, but I'm willing to GM, so I GM pretty often
2.) When did you start role playing? How old were you?
I started roleplaying when I was yet able to read playing 3.x
3.) What was the first role playing book you ever owned?
Something in the 3.x range of Dnd
4.) Describe the first game you ever ran or played in.
I dont think I literally could, but one of the earliest I *can* I was playing a Drow Sorcerer in 4e who would eventually develop into one of my main player characters a Drow Ranger/Cleric multiclass called Eilthaea Waeglyl. It was a very rotate in and out sort of game because it was mostly an excuse to go over a friend's house in high school and smoke weed. The game itself was secondary or even tertiary to just hanging out
5.) Which system did you grow up with?
I grew up with DnD 3.x. We had a couple of 2e books we used with no distinction. But it was just my siblings and I playing action figures with a little bit of random chance and basic math thrown in.
6.) Which system do you play now?
I am currently playing Pathfinder 2e and Vampire the Masquerade as well as a couple very loosely ruled play by post rps
7.) Longest campaign you’ve run or played in?
A nonsense descriptor. I bring aspects of old stories into new ones at any time. Tommy Baker/McDonnell has a huge story across multiple game systems and genres. But most of my games are generally pretty short
8.) Where did you meet your current gaming group?
Vamplr. Both my current Pathfinder and VtM games are with the same general group of people
9.) Strategic combat or dramatic plotlines?
I like both. When I DM, I often leave the drama to the players because my DM style is basically to have fun playing a war game but when I'm a player I often prefer to do dramatic plotlines
10.) Favorite RPG genre?
I like some fantasy/horror. I would really like to play a gaslight fantasy game in Pathfinder with maybe some cosmic horror elements, but I dont think I could DM that. If anyone wants to run something like that, hmu
11.) Your first character.
A human rogue who always wanted to talk the monsters down. It never worked
12.) Your favorite character.
Hard choice... I think in a lot of ways I've outgrown Tommy, but he has been a lot of fun to play. I also really like a Half-Drow Oracle I made for PF1 who didn't port very cleanly to PF2, but I don't think I ever actually got to play her in a game so I don't know if she counts.
13.) Your most ridiculous character.
Gohma Waeglyl. Eilthaea's Spider Animal Companion blessed by Eilistraee and transformed into a Drider Paladin who picked up where Eilthaea left off when he got killed in a den of Vampires. She has a 6 intelligence (which is fucking genius for a spider, by the way) and she's a lesbian (does spider have puspuss?)
14.) The best in-character line you’ve ever had.
I don't know, but I remember bringing my brothers to tears a couple of times.
15.) Your most epic death.
Eilthaea holding off a group of Vampires in a cave during a TPK allowing his animal companion and an NPC (who became the new party) to escape and continue the mission (after some time where the NPC awakens as an Oracle and the spider animal companion goes into a cocoon and metamorphoses into a Drider
16.) Your most disappointing death.
Probably generic human rogue #84 dying yet again because he tried to talk to a goblin
17.) Something that shouldn’t have worked, but did.
Oh, probably something from the Tampa by Night Chronicle... instance after instance of "we shouldn't have survived" exacerbated by a failed homebrew merit that just kept making bad shit happen
18.) Something that went hilariously awry.
When we tried to have a pool party with the Lasombra Primogen and our coterie's Lasombra frenzied and tried to deathroll the chap
19.) Your most memorable in-character moment.
Plenty of memorable moments between Tommy and Hazel... but honestly Eilthaea's death has to take the cake
20.) The coolest item you ever got and how you came to possess it.
My games never have a huge focus on items and gear.
21.) Your favorite NPC and how the party reacted to him/her
MEEPO and adopting him (oh actually I did get to play Ghuanerel once. But she was a little nerfed. Unable to be deaf as she should be)
22.) A game you wish you could run or want to run someday.
That Gaslight Fantasy Cosmic Horror game lbr
23.) Something you made up on the spot.
I made up an on the spot consequence for getting multiple crits taking down the cursed tree at the end of Sunless Citadel (when I ran it) where the tree and its roots completely disintegrate taking the entire citadel down around them (they had all recently earned a boon from Pharasma so they had a 1up in the bank.)
24.) Your most successful game.
Probably the PF2 game currently (ish) going on. I need to get that back up and running (one of my player characters got a small dose of brain cancer and we had to go on hiatus for a bit)
25.) Your least successful game.
When I tried to be a PC in sunless citadel
26.) The craziest thing your players have ever done, and how it affected your plans.
I ran a chronicle where my players fled the city and went to England to avoid the BBEG of the chronicle and I had no idea what to next and had to end the game
27.) Your favorite setting or game location.
I really like Golarion/the Pathfinder setting and I want to play some games in Absalom
28.) Your creative process when you plan a game.
Right now, I'm kind of playtesting the Pathfinder 2e rules a bit so I took existing modules and strung them together using player backstory as hooks.
29.) The best / worst character concept you’ve ever heard.
Vegan Carnist (House Carna Tremere with the Farmer predator style. That's the whole concept)
30.) What makes GMing fun for you.
Seeing my players excited to find out what's happening next

i wonder how the uppermoons would react to Rui's new drider mom
[for ref, since i never told you, Driders are usually from 6ft to 7ft in height]
Hm so do I...
☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆•☆
Daki and Gyutaro would be her other children apart from the spider family. It is a must for her to visit the Red light district 3 times a week before Daki has a tantrum and Gyutaro doesn't start insulting you the next time he sees you
Daki is your little brat. It is a must for her to get your attention at least 58 times an hour. Since you can't really wear clothes due to your body being half a damn spider, you pick out clothes for her and complement how pretty she looks in all of them
Loves your hugs, if you don't give it to her, she'll do it herself.
Gyutaro is your little sweetheart.. at times. You are the only reason why he isn't so insecure about himself your really positive when it comes to him.
You love to compliment him on the littlest things. But then again you can't help it.. he's just so sweet to you.
He hates loves it when you hug him. Your full of warmth and he's not used to it
Kaigaku is interesting... no matter how much love you give this guy, he always turns it in some way of insulting him
You compliment him? "What!? So my swordsmen skills weren't good enough yesterday!? Oh fuck off you spider freak! Why the fuck are even that fucking tall? Spider looking ass bitch! Jesus I bet you were a ugly human for Muzan to make you look like that"
You wanna hug him? "Why the fuck are you touching me you freak! Your lower half just fucking pricked me in 13 different ways. Aren't you a damn spider!? Doesn't that mean you just fucking poisoned me? What are you trying to do kill me?!"
Yeah it's going to take a while before he gets used to you
Gyokko he likes how big and strange your body is.
It'll look good on a pot-
Pulls you aside so he can try to re-shape your body onto a pot, or just straight up admires your body.
"Your body is so strange.. it's so ugly"
"Excuse-"
"It's beautiful!! But still ugly... can I rip your left leg off? Or the back half? I need it for a pot"
Hantengu is a scared peice of shit- and the way you look only scares him more.
AND your 7ft tall??
Yeah no- balling his fucking eyes out in the corner
Sekido (Anger) and Zohakuten (Hate) Don't really have a thought about you
They either do what Kaigaku does, or they actually enjoys your company and compliments but they don't know how to express it
Karaku (Relaxed) and Urgoi (Delight) Love how Freaky you look. They often bother you every chance they get.
You don't mind this, and they take advantage if that. They could annoy you all day and night and you still wouldn't be annoyed
Aizetsu (Sorrow) Really enjoys your company, and he likes to have small talks with you despite your huge and semi terrifying demeanor
He sometimes asks if you'll ever try and attack him or if he could touch your body
Nakime thinks your a lovely... spider mom, thing-
Likes your lower body, the way it moves every time your walking
She finds it interesting
Of course your going to compliment her playing her biwa
She feels so loved when you compliment her on her playing, when you compliment her it sounds so genuine.
Every time she sees you she starts to play her biwa just for you
Akaza Punches the living shit out of Douma when he tries to fish compliments out of you
You make him feel strong everytime you compliment him on his techniques/Demon art
Constantly would like to know where you are, he wants you to watch him as he trains, fights, and create new fighting techniques.
He tries his best not to freak out when you give him physical affection
The most you do is hug him and he had absolutely no idea how to react to this.
Give him a couple weeks he'll get used to it eventually
Douma Is already complimenting you, not only on your hight, but on you beauty as well
Usually goes over to you to fish for compliments, But Akaza is usually their to punch his head off
Once you do get the chance, you'll follow him on missions and watch him fight slayers.
This guy loves to show off, so everytime he makes a ice clone thing, or when he wins a fight against a slayer, or when the Slayer misses him by a inch
He'll look back at you and go like
"Wasn't that eye catching [Name]? Please tell me how wonderful I am at my demon art!!"
Kokushibo does not like the fact your taller then him. But he won't say anything.
You give off this very warm and welcoming presence and he's not sure of he should enjoy it or not
He finds it weird that you constantly compliment him on almost everything
Are you doing this because your lower half is so terrifying that complimenting others is the only way to make you feel better?
Or are you just being nice?
Very confused
Doesn't really like physical affection form you
It's not you, it's him-
He enjoys your company a lot, but is really confused how you were created
Was it lowermoon 5 that did this? Or was it Muzan?
He thinks about this for a really long time
Muzan is very confused
One- Did Rui do this?
Two, Where did you come? And are you a demon?
He does not remember giving blood to someone and they turned out like this
Was it a lowlife demon? Great now he has to searching
Wait until he finds out your not even a demon
Now he's really confused
What are you then?
Where did you come from?
Why do you look like Rui's older brother
After a while, he'll start using your blood for experiments
Mixing it with his own to see what happens
You want to question why, but instead you start compliment him on how smart and creative he is
Ok now you have to be next to Muzan 15 times a week
I don't make the rules, he does.

What tyepes and how elves do you have in your homebrew d&d??! Like the worldbuilding is huge, and hope I don't bother you by asking.
I don’t mind the questions, honestly! But be ready for an INCREDIBLY long read because I love elves and I might as well go into detail with them, and most of the information and brain thoughts can be found under the read more!
Anyway, I have 3 different realms. Manala, which is my Homebrew D&D world, The “It’s an Odd Kind of Fairytale Universe” which... is my webcomic’s universe (I still haven’t named the realm OTL) and Ozarathan, which is the Elf Only Universe.
Manala is the one I’ll focus on since you asked D&D homebrew but I’ll touch on the other two as well. Ozarathan’s elf types are a mix between the Manala and IAOKOFT elves but with SOME differences.
Now... onto my D&D elves!
Tumblr media
Manala has 10 types of elves. Here, we have 9 pictured, and those are the actual playable races. I’ll get to the last ones once I’ve explained these ones!
Manala has 2 categories of elves. True Elves and False Elves. False Elves are Wood Elves and Sea Elves, the rest are all True Elves. The reason for this categorization is that Wood Elves came to be when Eladrin mixed with Amali (beastfolk, essentially kemonomimi) and Sea Elves came to be when Eladrin mixed with Triton. They have plenty of elven blood, but they’re removed enough that they have their own cultures and are not as afflicted by The Hunt as True Elves are.
The Hunt is something all True Elves suffer from and it’s an innate bloodthirst. Elves on Manala are incredibly unhinged, especially Eladrin and Shadar Kai, who were the first Elves to be created onto Manala, and Shadar Kai especially just tend to start eating prey while it’s still alive. The others at least have the decency to kill the thing before starting to eat it. Most elves enjoy raw meat, and if it’s still warm from the hunt that’s even better.
That being said, High Elves (so Sun Elves, Moon Elves and Drow) try to move away from being so overcome by the Hunt that they immerse themselves into practising the arts, and most modern High Elves don’t even experience the Hunt anymore... unless they actually go out to hunt. Which they don’t, because they either raise livestock or assign certain individuals to hunt so that not everyone turns into chaotic bloodthirsty morons. Sea Elves have no remnants of The Hunt, and Wood Elves experience it in a completely different way. They don’t revel in the kill, they revel in the hunt itself and a hunting party can spend weeks away from home tracking down some kind of behemoth, running it ragged until it dies from stress.
True Elves also have mostly matriarchal societies, and most men dress in very revealing ways. Piercings and Tattoos are common across all True Elves, and preference of Fabric depends on region and subrace, with High Elves and Eladrin enjoying silken and loose flowing fabrics that move well, and Shadar Kai preferring leathers and wool to fight away the harsh cold of the Shadowfell.
Now... onto more specific explanations of the races!
Shadar Kai. Shadar Kai are one of the two Original Races of Elves. They were created alongside Eladrin, and at first were put into the Material Plane before the Creators decided to split the Material plane into 3, which resulted in the creation of the Shadowfell and Feywilds. Shadar Kai are definitely the most unpredictable of the elves, The Hunt is incredibly strong in them, and as such they get very distracted by that need to go out and kill some poor beast. Because of this, the Shadowfell is relatively safe where Elven societies exist, pretty much anything that’s deemed a danger is ripped apart. Their Shadowfell sister-race, the Shadow Orcs, keep them at an arm’s distance, but even if there’s surface bickering, but the two races are very close and if a larger enemy comes, the two team up and their combined forces easily dispatch any dangers.
Tumblr media
Shadar Kai are the largest of all the elves. Stronger, more ferocious, and definitely way more extreme. Their society employs very Art Deco styles, unlike the other Elves who prefer the more fluid Art Nouveau looking styles. Shadar Kai have tons of piercings, and as they come of age, they get large geometric tattoos that cover their entire bodies to separate the youngins from adults. Shadar Kai do not have very colourful natural colours. Their eyecolour ranges from all tones from white to black, and occasionally very pale colours of any kind. Their Sclera tends to range from grey to black. Skintones range from black to white, and this is true for their hair too. The exception is with Ghost Shadar Kai, who are born pure white except for their sclera, and the result is a very jarring humanoid. They have feathery growths adorning their skin, mostly on the face, but down the back, on the shoulders and neck, as well as forearms is also common.
Up next are the Eladrin, who are really crazy and obviously very very horny because they ended up creating the false elves all on their own. They’re native to the Feywild, but very often travel to the Material Plane, so Eladrin are much more common than Shadar Kai. Like their Shadowfell counterparts, they have growths as well, but it ranges wildly from individual to individual, and even their season.
Tumblr media
Eladrin can be pretty much any colour, and often have skin markings. They’re a colourful bunch. Eladrin men tend to be VERY ostentatious, and the less actually properly covering their skin, the better. But don’t let the bright colours, horniness and smaller size distract you, because the Eladrin are only marginally better than Shadar Kai when it comes to dealing with the Hunt. They’re a bunch of party animals but will definitely rip your throat out if they feel threatened.
Surface High Elves are the best at taking care of their Hunt instinct, and actually have it so under wraps that they have extensive cities filled with so much art of all kind that they make other races forget that Elves are actually nuts. Surface High Elves developed after certain clans of Eladrins began losing their connections to the Feywild after spending extensive amounts of time on the Material Plane.
Tumblr media
(Elerath isn’t a Sun Elf but he presents himself as such)
The men dress a LITTLE more sensibly, but the sheer variety of High Elf fashion can lead to some... weird clothing choices. Surface High Elves don’t have the jewel tone range of their Eladrin cousins, but still come in all kinds of skintones, hair colours and eye colours. They do not have any growths of any kind, and actually have super soft skin! (poking elf cheeks is super satisfying) The main difference between Sun and Moon Elves is mostly their colour schemes and sleep cycles. Sun Elves are diurnal, Moon elves are nocturnal.
Drow developed from an offshoot of Surface High Elves when they travelled into the Underdark to protect the Surface from Aberrations that had started migrating to the surface and causing chaos. Unlike canon Drow, Drow on Manala are not as bad with their overwhelming misandry and the whole “treating men like garbage” thing doesn’t exist. They’re still strongly matriarchal, and men are held to a different standard, but in a completely different way. Drow men are THE most beautiful group of elves in the entire world, and most high ranking ladies have harems of handsome men who they protect with such overwhelming ferocity that it almost rivals that of Shadar Kai. So I guess Drow men still get the short end of the stick but hey, at least they get pampered?? (But if you’re a handsome man, your chances of getting out into the world is... almost nil)
Tumblr media
The Drow are zealous worshipers of The Spider, the Archfey of Weaving, Protection and Good Fortune, and due to this, they work in tandem with various Drider, who in this setting are natural Fey creatures, not drow dudes who fucked up a weird and complicated ritual. (Can you tell that I hate canon Drow culture? Because I really do. Drow have such great potential so here I am, turning things on its head)
Drow skintones range from white to charcoal, and sometimes have a slight purple tone. Eye colours tend to be jewel tones, but yellows, oranges and greens are very uncommon. Hair ranges from white to black, but can also be bright purple.  The exception is with ghost drow, who are pure white. Even their pupils are difficult to distinguish from their iris so they look super jarring.
Wood Elves are a fun bunch. They don’t mingle with other elves as much, not do they associate with Amali much, but they have good relations with both. Most Wood Elf cities are hidden from the world at large since they tend to just keep to themselves and protect nature from other races, and to protect the other races from whatever lurks in the forest.
Tumblr media
They have ears with extra lobes attached, and many also have fur on the tips and the back of the ears. Some individuals even have furry manes that run down their spines! Their colours are basically any shade of brown you can imagine. They span the entire human gamut, also include greys, and sometimes are a little too yellow or red toned to be completely right. They also sometimes have stripes or spots on their skins!
Then there’s the Sea Elves! Unlike other elves, Sea Elves are not mammalian. They lack breasts, and their young can eat fish pretty much as soon as they’re born. Sea Elf Babies are born very small, but more developed and take a while longer to get to their adult sizes since Sea Elves are quite large when it comes to elves. They have patches of scales on their skin, and gills. They can breathe both above and underwater, and most large Sea Elf societies are underwater, built into cliffs by the coast
Tumblr media
Any colour a fish is, they can be. As such, Sea Elves are seen as very striking individuals if they come from more tropical seas, and they become very sought after courtesans.
Elves in general are really horny. Unlike most media where elves are seen as aloof and standoffish and holier-than-thou because of their beauty and long lifespans, on Manala, ALL elf subraces are pretty easy to seduce. They enjoy the attention, and as a result, the entire realm is filled with half-elves of ALL kinds of mixtures. Also, gender is so fluid in elven society. An Elf picks how they present themselves and because of the ease at which magic is available, they can sculpt their bodies to fit how they wish to be seen. Elves said Trans Rights.
Now... there’s one type of elf I didn’t touch on, and those are the Aetherians. The Aetherians don’t play much of a role on Manala because they’ve actually left. Aetherians are essentially Space Elves and they have WEIRD crazy powers. They’re the creators of the realm, but after they deemed their newest project complete enough, they left. Well. Most of them did. Two of them remain in the Realm but I’m not going to reveal their identities.
Tumblr media
Aetherians are HUGE. They’re like. 9-10 feet tall, and have geometric grooves in their skin that glow. They also have floating crowns of shards above their heads. They’re a mystery, and were involved in the creation of the world, but aside from that almost nothing is known of them.
So uhhh yeah. Those are my D&D elves.
I’ll add a little bonus section of the Ozarathan Elves here as well because that’s fun:
Tumblr media
I haven’t finished drawing the lineup so the anatomy is whack on some of these here’s a general idea of their sizes??
(Also in IAOKOFT) The Solarians – slightly scorched skin, tanned, warm grey/brownish sclera, live in high mountains, art deco style, very isolationist.
(Also in IAOKOFT) The Umbrals - Reskinned Manala Shadar Kai and Ghost Shadar Kai, cousins to Umbrals, very similar aesthetics
The Vokorians- Reskinned Manala Wood Elves. They have the same fluffy ears but also have tails.
The Hush-Hush – Reskinned Manala Drow and Ghost Drow, but also have tails.
The Maritimians- Scaled Skin in parts, fins and gills, often have tails. Freshwater and Saltwater varieties exist.
(Also in IAOKOFT) The Zephyrians- Elves with small wings. Often have feathering on their bodies, and also have feathered tails. Live in moving cities that get moved by the wind. Nomadic.
(Also in IAOKOFT) The Uzarians- High Elves, the most typical elves.
(Also in IAOKOFT) The Duneriders- Desert elves. Grey sclera, dark skin, have marks, offshoot of Solarians, but have rounded highly mobile ears.

Art Fight!
Was leaving posting this until July, but saw one of my arch rivals (@thefrogwild) post theirs, so figured I'd post mine too!
Username; VenaPrincess
Friendly Fire? Yup! Though I prefer not to though.
Revenge? Always.
I attack; Pretty much everyone <3 I make an effort to draw animals/anthros, so please make an effort to draw my human characters.
See you on the battlefield!
-
Featured Characters;
Lucius; The antagonist of my stories. A dark and foreboding figure with powers over darkness, and mirror-portals. Hidden behind his fringe, are many eyes that allow him to see through his mirrors, which are often strategically placed and hidden in various locations. His emblem is a snake with peacock feathers around it.
Rakni; A young and naive Drider (Spider girl) with a passion for weaving, always using her spider silk to create amazing designs, including her dresses. She can summon a large spider to protect her, and has a huge crush on Lucius, which he uses to his advantage.
Jacqueline; I'm putting her in the spotlight because of my team. She's a cyborg who creates all her own electronics and prosthetics, a highly intelligent engineer who just likes tinkering with her gadgets.
Antares; Same species as Lucius, but with the opposite spectrum of abilities. While Lucius works with shadows, Antares is more light focused. However he is permanently mute due to an accident with his brother Elaxi, which resulted in losing his tongue.
Marie; A new character I created for a tabletop. She has burn scars over the majority of her body, can transform into a giant spider, and regenerate from most injuries. She's a semi-famous artist who is also highly skilled in martial arts. Unfortunately, due to her appearance, she doesn't leave the house much.

Male Drider Boyfriend: Nyraen
Warning: Mood board isn’t for those who are a fan of spiders. Arachnophobes are warned!
Part 1 (YOU’RE HERE) - Part 2 - Part 3
Tumblr media
Web to Your Heart
For most of your life, you believed that fate had already been written for you to take: a journey to venture where you needed to get to, with no knowing what route it would lead you down.
You believed that that was the same for people: that certain people in your life had been written into your life for you to meet along the way. Some you would come to befriend, some to fall in love with, but there were few who would be there and leave before you even had the chance to say goodbye.
For you, in your little life you lived, you chose to live it simply: opting to farming and living outside of nearby towns, tending to live alone than occupy your life with others. You had always been like that; tending to yourself and your crops.
You couldn't admit there were highs and lows, but you enjoyed the times to find yourself and escape from the rest of the world, with no-one knowing you existed.
That was what you had lived by for years until you had found yourself with the feeling of being watched. As if someone was going out of their way to watch over you. It was at first unnoticeable, and you shook it off as just being sceptical, but over the days passing, you found yourself feeling more certain that there was someone or something there.
You felt it most when you were travelling back from your harvests, bringing back your goods on a small cart you dragged on wheels. Although it would be late at night, you had a small trusty lantern as your guide home.
It was scary times, travelling along dusty bleak roads, with trees twisted and as tall as mountains, curving in so you felt trapped. It was, however, the only route you knew home, and you couldn’t trust any other way that could get your lost.
You had heard stories from your grandmother telling you of old tales, of mountain hill gnolls and cannibals hiding in the darkness, all some you had come to believe when you were young but now, were all just stories to make sure you wouldn’t misbehave.
You had never run into anything as mythical or supernatural on your many journeys home, and never once did you think you would. You had places to go and things to do, and you thought they would too.
You, however, didn’t expect to meet one that certain night.
It seemed normal at first, walking along and pulling your cart behind you with both your arms down the dark road, shadows and the abyss surrounding you, and the source of the ground acting as the light to help you see.
You thought not much of it, again, the odd occurrence came again when you passed under some thick foliage and trees, not being able to see up into the branches, you could feel something with its eyes burning into the back of your head.
Slightly aware now, you picked up the pace, seemingly being a bit more careless with where you were walking until you accidentally tripped, sending yourself forward and the cart in your arms to fall out, all items falling to the ground in a clatter.
“Oh, gods.” You hissed to yourself quietly, not bothering to check yourself over, rummaging on the ground, you scrambled to pick everything that had dropped, wildly and messily, you tried doing so you could get back home quicker.
A large snap came from behind you, and in your rush of all of your senses heightened, you froze, grabbing your small lantern hastily and looking around to see what lurked.
Nothing you could see, all shrubs and tall high trees and skinny branches, you couldn’t help but feel more nervous. I’m overthinking this. You thought to yourself. There’s nothing here with me.
When you had collected your things, you set your lantern back into place, ready to carry on moving, when a large noise of the branches to your right swayed, the wind cried and danced through the air, catching at your hair to blow behind your neck.
You shook your head dismissively, “If something wanted to kill you, they would’ve done it by now.”
“I would never harm such a thing so small like you.” Called from the darkness.
You shrieked, turning around swiftly, lantern in hand and squinting into the darkness in front of you. “Who’s there? I-If you need anything, I have only food-”
An amused laugh came from the abyss before you, and still, you could not see much. His voice called itself softly and silvery along the air to you, like the wind itself. “I haven't come for food, I was more interested in the little one wandering alone in a place like this.”
His voice was enticing, lulling and smooth as if he was singing a lullaby. You couldn’t help but be strangely drawn to him. “I-I was going home...” You stopped yourself from spilling too much detail of where you lived.
“Hmm, but you’re quite far from your home aren’t you kitten? Bad things hide in the shadows, waiting for pretty things like you walking around.”
You gulped, taking a step back, grabbing at the lantern as you were sure to almost flee. The cart can wait, I need can collect it come the morrow. “I sure must be leaving then. It is quite f-frightful out here.”
“Frightful yes, beautiful too. Still, a shame you must leave so soon, I enjoy looking at you.”
You were taken back by his honest words, anyone else would’ve thought of them as creepy, but you were still shy in thinking something thought of you as becoming or attractive.
You took a weary giggle to yourself, bashful. “Erm.. do you live out here?”
“No,” he pleasantly sang, “but I live close by. Although, I have seen you here most often, wandering each day alone.”
You nodded, now it had dawned on you, this person could’ve been watching you. Your head glanced back and forth towards the rest of the broken path behind you, your path to getting home. “I should really be getting home now.”
“Not without telling me your name?” He whispered. “A pretty thing like yourself should have a pretty name to share, hmm?”
You uncertainly told him your name, and he hummed it back to you like a ghost calling for your name. You couldn’t help but shudder by the way he spoke your name. “Do you have a name?”
“I do, but I think it would be most difficult to pronounce, it’s not... a human name so to say.”
You froze on your spot, not human? Every alarm bell was ringing in your head, screaming for you to flee, but you foolishly thought the only thing you could do was question his words. “Not human-like you’re not... human?”
If you could see, you would've believed he was smiling, and through the rumbling and rustling of trees, the figure emerged, one that appeared into the light of your lantern so gracefully.
He had light grey skin, smooth from the upper half of his body with a toned torso and two human arms and long nails attached. His hair, like woven silver, flowed long past his shoulders, guarding his many eyes along his face, all black sclera and pupils as red as rubies. Four you could count. And when you looked down, instead of seeing his upper body connect to two legs, you saw that his torso was connected to the many dark spindly legs with eight limbs.
His bottom half was of a large spider, with a grey underbelly and coal-black hairy legs as long and large as swords. He was huge, crouched before you with his hairy long spider legs bent. You watched in silence as he entered from the shrubs he was hiding behind.
He took in your reaction, many eyes watching and from where you stood, the lantern light caught the small mandibles for teeth, sharp as knives. His overall look wasn’t scary; it had been the fact that you had been blind that a massive drider was living in the woods without you being aware. You had unintentionally gulped at the thought, giving the drider perhaps the wrong impression, a disappointed look fell on his face.
“I frighten you, don’t I?” He merely whispered, looking glum, his pale eyebrows frowning. “No, I-I... it’s just--- you’re-” you blubbered, tying to find the right words correctly, before blurting out something embarrassing. “You’re beautiful.”
He snorted, and had you been aware, you swore you could see a deep blush to his high cheekbones. “You flatter me, kitten, but never have I heard such a compliment like yours.”
You seemed stunned, although he seemed rather scary at first, you never were afraid of spiders- maybe if you had been, you wouldn’t have been able to make conversation with him so easy.
“I mean it... I just--- how long have you been watching me?”
He took a pause for a moment. “I’ve seen people come and go, but never has a human come so far out of their way to live outside of a town. You’ve intrigued me.”
You watched him silently, thinking for the right words. He had been there for who knew how long, watching you from the shadows each day. It did creep you out a bit, but it wasn’t every day you could say you got the attention of another; certainly someone attractive in your eyes.
The drider continued, looking up briefly to raise his head. “It is late, and I would feel better knowing you were home safely.” From the corner of your eyes, he had something in his hand, reaching out, he handed it to you. A singular rose. In your moments of everything passing so quickly, you were surprised by the simple yet thoughtful gift.
“Your name... can you give me your name now?” You called to him.
“Nyraen you may call me kitten.” He spoke, his voice so soft you thought you had nearly missed what he had said. You repeated it, carefully looking around yourself again when you were unsure about whether it was still safe to venture back home. You preferred getting home when it was still light outside, but by now, twilight had come and you could hear the life of the night come alive.
“W-Would you take me home? Help me--- just in case, it’s a bit darker than I imagined.”
Nyraen gave you a sympathetic smile, leaning closer to you face for a moment, and when you thought he would lean away, he didn’t. From this far up close to his face, you could see just truly how beautiful his eyes were, and just his entire face in general.
“If I am to help you, you must give me something in return. An eye for an eye.” He suggested. You wondered what he meant by that? Could you put your trust straight away into a stranger? You were going to have to risk it. Nodding you spoke. “What is it you want?”
He smiled and smoothly took a lock of your hair and stroked it between his clawed fingers. “A simple kiss is all I ask for, pretty thing. Just a kiss.”
It seemed innocent enough but had he known you had never kissed anyone before, you were more scared to be just giving him one as a whim. Giving in, you agreed, taking the initiative.
He watched with watchful eyes, letting you come up to him, as he helped in bending down further to your height. You still found yourself having to stand on your toes to reach his face, pulling his face close as you pressed your lips against his in what you hoped would just be a simple and short smooch.
But when you tried to pull away as quickly as it had happened, Nyraen went to clutch at your head, pulling you back to his lips, a large gasp coming from you as he kissed you with more vigour.
His lips were cool against your warm ones, but soft and kissable, leaving your knees like jelly as you tried keeping yourself stable. He held you still in his arms, kissing you roughly, swiping his tongue along your bottom lip as he took the room to kiss you with his tongue.
You were smooching a drider in the middle of the night- you had come to realise - and as much as you enjoyed the thrill and wildness, you pulled away, breathily as if he was a drug you needed.
Nyraen continued kissing at your flesh, mumbling incoherently “Oh, oh you taste so sweet. Like nectar from a blossomed fruit.” He pressed feverish kisses to your neck and jaw, leaving the warmth like you had been burnt.
Hovering at your lips once again, he nipped at them, “Allow me another my sweet.” You couldn’t say no to his words of fancy and gave him a kiss you both knew you wanted.
Kissing a stranger was something you definitely didn’t think you would be doing. Nyraen swiped his tongue across your lips again, and this time with his long mandibles, he nibbled across your bottom lip and the inside of it, before sinking them into your flesh as you drank at whatever he was putting into your body.
Your mind was screaming to panic, for you thought that this was his way of getting you into his trap; a spider’s web with you as his prey. You started struggling to get out of his grip, whimpering as you tasted at the poison on his lips; sweet as a forbidden fruit.
He murmured against your lips, trying to keep you calm, as a heavy blanket of tiredness seemed to fall over you, lulling you to try and sleep. With your movements growing sluggish, you finally went to pull away, as darkness pulled you into darkness.
When you woke up, you weren’t in the middle of the dark forest on a broken small path, but in your bed, tucked neatly under the duvet and rest as if you had the oddest of dreams. There was no Nyraen; the drider who name you now know, and you had come to believe it had just been a dream.
A dream. You thought glumly; A dream I didn’t want to end. You sat up from your bed, morning light pouring in from your open window as you looked to see something you hadn’t noticed at first from when you had awoken.
It was oddly small, sitting perfectly but visible beside your long mirror, a long silvery net of a spider’s web from the wall to the mirror stand, and the webs had been stretched and pulled in ways to form words.
‘Until next time my sweet. N’
You had come to look forward to meeting your little friend once again.

I enjoyed writing this, and I want to write a part 2 soon! Hope you enjoyed yourself! Thank you!

Drider Infant - CR 1/4 Aberration
Fuel for your Reddit arguments about paladins killing babies of monstrous species.
Tumblr media
Artwork by 0loo on DeviantArt.
Driders are pretty deadly from birth, and instinctually attack and devour other creatures they see, including their own siblings if there’s no other food available.  However, spider eggs come in large groups, and drider infants will work together to take down a target, surrounding their prey and using a combination of aid another checks, flanking, and their web ability to give them a semi-reasonable chance to hit.
This creature is mainly intended for a situation where the players encounter a clutch of drider eggs, and they start hatching, perhaps because the PCs accidentally break them open during a fight with the mother.  But hey, if your “good-aligned” party decides to annihilate the drider nursery, I guess it’s useful for that too.
Drider Infant - CR 1/4

RELENTLESS SPOILERS (someone help)
Spoilers for R.A SALVATORE’S RELENTLESS  Pretty big (confusing) spoilers if you haven’t finished the book.  If you have finished the book, please help me understand Sorry, that this is ramble-y. I just finished the book and I had a lot of questions.
Am I just not getting this “infection” angle the book is going for?
Lolth was a goddess, perhaps, but also perhaps, a demon, and a being with a physical form. But she was also much more than all that. A bit of Lolth was inside every reasoning being, usually dormant, but like a disease or infection, it could awaken. ((p317))
I’m sorry but what?? Inside every reasoning being yet, predominantly, only the Drow are suffering from said “infection”? I don’t understand how that could make any sort of sense. As if the Drow are the only people living in conditions in which the infection could awaken? Am I not understanding or am I missing something??
UH and the “revelations” that Yvonnel and (especially) Quenthel have are actually kind of frustrating? Why does the Matron Mother of Menzoberranzan  so readily turn on her goddess? Because the original Yvonnel wasn’t a monster from day one? Supposedly, original Yvonnel’s memories stretch back to the founding/beginning of Menzoberranzan in which, her earliest memories she experienced hope, freedom, and joy. ((p400)) But, in the current canon, the city was founded in -3917 DR and Yvonnel was born -685 DR. That doesn’t strike me as the being as her being present for the city’s founding… On page 430 new Yvonnel monologues about how bonded all the Drow were, treating each other like family, and the Conclave (now called the Ruling Council) was there to talk about/address the concerns of all Drow.
“And it was Lady Lolth who led us there, before she was called the Spider Queen.” ((p400))
So, are the Crown Wars and the Dark Seldarine getting retconned??
Also it would have been better, in my opinion, if OTHER deities were given to the Drow as an option? Like using Eilistraee or Vhaeraun or hell, adding in something new. The whole scene with new Yvonnel and Quenthel restoring the driders would have been much better if it was handled differently, ie the aid of another God/Goddess. Give the Drow some options? Gods are an established thing in the Realms so them denouncing Lolth and casting a spell to cure all of the driders is so confusing to me? How does that work? Why?? I get Drizzt not adhering to any deity but not EVERY DROW needs to be like him? In the context of the world it doesn’t make sense to me. It’s divine magic. It has to be granted by something. It feels cheap and gimmicky. ~~Oooh the veil has been lifted~~ Lolth is just an infection~~ The truth has set you free and given you magically powers~~ (Bleh)
Also, if Lolth doesn’t care then why the hell was it such a big deal that Drizzt didn’t kill that elven child?? He can literally denounce Lolth to her face but sparing a life? INEXCUSABLE. The whole house is in Lolth’s disfavour, a thing confirmed by multiple sources in this book. It wasn’t retconned to be a paranoid delusion of Malice or anything. Why is the infection mad????? Because lolz chaos xD?? Plot armour only involvement??
AND on pages 288-291, the yochlols are discussing the possibility that Lolth is going to be mad at them for their antics. Why is an infection that is primarily concerned with spreading itself going to be pressed about any of this? The way they speak about Lolth is way more akin to a lore traditional Goddess than some infection. It’s not adding up for me.
Jarlaxle at the end makes a point about the only people 100% buying into this are Kimmuriel (who felt really OOC towards the end), new Yvonnel, and Quenthel . All people that have had their minds messed with by the Illithid. More specifically he brings up Gromph, who brought Methil El Viddenvelp back into the fold, hinting that he believes Gromph could have been led to by Lolth to do so as he is often in the company of handmaidens and demons. ((p432)) Honestly this theory is more believable to me? Unless there is a lot of retcon I don’t see how this infection angle works. There is literally no reason for ONLY the Drow(mostly) to be worshipping Lolth if this “infection” lies dormant in every reasoning being. This doesn’t make the Drow nuanced or give them an interesting alternative path, in my opinion. The idea that there are these 3 megamind, enlightened people that are going to overthrow systematic oppression because they remembered some feelings from a “long” time ago is ridiculous to me.
I don’t know. If someone read the Lolth is a disease/infection thing and liked it or thought that it would be a good direction to go with the Drow, please explain it to me. I am genuinely interested in hearing what you have to say. I do agree that the Drow need more than Lolth and the sexist/evil trope. I guess I was hoping for more inclusions of alternative gods/goddesses/cities? Or atleast some sort of genuine movement in which the common, average Drow starts to rethink the way they live and change happens from there? NOT LITERALLY THE MOST POWERFUL CHARACTERS GOING, “LOLTH IS CANCELLED”
(again, sorry for the ramble but if anyone could help me make sense of this I would appreciate it)
