Y/n was a whisper on everyone in New York's lips, she practically ran the state, for the most part. She was only twenty-five and getting ready to find her third husband, she sat behind the desk where her father, and then her second husband sat once, and now she did. She looked through files about men who were a part of other mafia families, it wasn’t that she wanted to get married again, hell she only ever wanted the first marriage she had, this was the fact that it looked good if she were married.
As she was swirling whisky in a glass with ice, making them clink together, Y/n wanted to laugh to herself, here she was doing this when people her age were out partying and vapidly dating, but she couldn’t do that because of her father. She could have lived her life the way she wanted with her first husband, but her father ‘got rid’ of him, and then married her off. It hurt at first but now she was the one at the top of the food chain and no one would take that from her, in her mind by now she deserved this for what she had to go through. “Andy, I found a guy.” She said before handing him the file of the man she chose.
Bucky stood in the garage of his house, while music blasted from behind the black 1973 Plymouth ’Cuda his hands were covered in grease from the car in front of him. He didn’t notice the car pulling up in front of his home, and soon the music's loud volume dissipated. Bucky looked around trying to find who had turned the radio down. “James.” He turned to where his brother stood behind him, as one of the many body guards walked out from behind the car.
“What do you want, Thomas?” He asked as he turned to lead his brother into his modest size house. “It must be big business, if you're making your way out to Indiana, from New York.”
“How do you know it’s business?” Thomas asked incredulously as he leaned against the counter while Bucky washed his hands in the sink.
Bucky scoffed. “The only time you ever contact me is because of something with business, and that usually would be over the phone.” They only would see each other in person if it was something Bucky had to be at, and that was him usually flying out there.
Thomas sighed. “Y/n Carter’s right hand informed me that she is interested in meeting you, over something important.”
Bucky’s breath stopped for a moment. He knew Y/n, saw her around at the parties, with her husband, Henry Field. “What does she want to speak with me about?” Bucky was not going to do this blindly, he knew all too well the risks that his family chose to take being in this life.
“She wants me to keep it on the low before telling anyone including you, I’m going to give you until tomorrow morning to get ready to head to New York.” Thomas told him seriously.
Bucky’s eyes followed his brother as he walked back through the garage, and back out front to his large SUV, Bucky stayed leaning against the counter in front of the sink. He walked to his fridge and pulled out a beer, he closed his garage door as he drank, he went through what he thought about what Y/n could want to meet with him about. He began packing some things, this meeting that Y/n wanted was intimidating, since usually, the women entwined in the mafia didn’t do things usually in relation to business.
Y/n waited knowing that James, and Thomas Barnes would be walking through her office doors any minute now, her cold e/c  eyes looking at the door as it opened, Andy, Thomas and James walked in. “Could I offer you gentlemen a drink?” Y/n asked, looking at them, the guest answered with a nod, as she handed them the drinks and took her seat in the large chair again, her attention went to James. “Mr. Barnes, I assume you are wondering why I’ve asked for you here?” James nodded, at the question. “My husband, Mr. Field passed away a year ago.” It was no secret that James had moved far away from his family to Indiana, so Y/n told him the quick refresher without a quiver of any emotion.
“I’m sorry for your loss Mis. Carter.” He said as if she and her second husband cared for one another, she smiled and nodded taking the sympathy he gave her.
“Thank you, but that's not why we really are here today, I am now the head of my family, James, and your family,” Her eyes glanced at Thomas who already knew about her proposition to marry James. “Has a lot of respect in our line of business, I need a new husband, and I wanted to meet with you to propose the idea.”
Bucky’s eyes widened, not in a million years did he think this was what this meeting would be about. Thomas knew that Bucky wouldn’t have been so willing to agree, it was a similar reason for why he had stepped down from being the head of the Barnes family. Thomas looked at his older brother with a begging gaze. “Let me speak with my brother for a moment, Mis. Carter.” Bucky stood, his brother did the same after him, Y/n nodded in understanding, Thomas knew that by the end of the meeting Y/n wanted an answer from his brother. “What the hell was that?” Bucky asked after they were concealed alone.
“James, you haven't been in New York for two years, things change, and Y/n has laid claim over a majority of New York in her short time as the leader of the Carter Family.” Thomas explained. “I don’t know if you actually have a choice in this, when she called about this after Andy Came to the house, she sounded determined, and you're thirty-six James, I think this is the best time you're ever going to get to ever to agree.”
“I didn’t agree when dad tried, why should I agree when you are trying?” Bucky asked, looking at his brother.
“Because this time, I don’t have a choice to step up for you James, you owe me, you promised when you ran off that if I took the lead, married the girl, and so on you’d owe me this is me turning that in.” Thomas reminded his brother of the deal they made late one night after Bucky had been given an ultimatum to not return as lead of the family, or be married and do that.
Bucky sighed. “I’ve helped you when needed. Is that not enough?” He looked down at the nice flooring that either Y/n or one of her grandparents chose.
“You told me you owed me, I know how to run the business. I've been doing it since I was twenty-three. I’m now more capable than you, now that I’ve been running it for twelve years.”  Thomas’s point was well chosen as he spoke. “I need you to do this, because it will help, and then after this I will not ask you for anything again.”
Bucky sighed leaving the room shaking his head, as he made his way to the nearby office. “Mis. Carter, I’ll take your offer, I do have a few things you and I should sort out sooner than later.”
“I will arrange another meeting before the wedding, so we can figure that out for you.” She agreed, Bucky was beginning to think Y/n didn’t know emotion throughout this meeting. She spoke very calmly and collected, and as if she scripted the whole thing. “I’ll be seeing you around Mr. Barnes.” She said, shaking his hand, allowing him to leave.
Bucky walked out of the room finding Thomas waiting in the hallway, with a nervous look. “I owed you, Thomas, now I have no debt to you and you have no debt to me.” Bucky told his brother as he left the large mansion.

The Girl in the Record Store - Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson x Metalhead! Reader
Chapter Summary: It's your first day at Hawkins High, and it's just as chaotic as Eddie warned you it would be. He's there to help you navigate it, though.
Warnings: Angst, bullying, emotional, lmk if there's anything else I don't think there is!.
A/N: I try not to use (Y/N) in my writing, so he usually uses pet names instead even though they're not dating yet. I use petnames with people casually so I don't know if it's awkward or not, I'm sorry if it is!"
Waking up in the damp, humid, Indiana heat is something I don't think I'll ever get used too. I rip my sweat-soaked sheets off my body as fast as I can. Cracking my neck, I begrudgingly pull myself out of bed.
The thought of stepping foot into Hawkins High makes me want to vomit. Of course, I was eager to see Eddie again. We'd talked over the phone many times, and as happy as that made me, I miss that sweet smile that adorns his face. I miss the smirk that would lift his features while we spoke; I could basically hear it overtaking his lips we spoke over the phone.
I don't spend too much time getting ready, just powdering on some makeup and pulling on a simple, little black dress, leather jacket to match. I get into the car my dad had given me, a black 1969 Plymouth Barracuda, and start her up.
When I pull into the parking lot, I sling my backpack over my shoulders and hold my jacket around my forearm. A beige and brown van pulls in beside me. Eddie jumps out of the sliding door and smiles.
"Eddie!" I squeal, jumping back. "You scared the shit out of me!" I giggle, smacking his chest. He grabs his heart.
"Oh! Sweetheart!" He leans back. "You wound me," I laugh, rolling my eyes. I wander away from him, not looking back. "Do you have your schedule?" He asks, running up behind me.
"Yeah," I smile, handing it to him. "Do we have any classes together?"
"A couple, but they're both at the end of the day. You're gonna have to wait until after lunch."
"At least it's something!" My futile attempts to be optimistic are in vain. "Can you show me where Mr Latters class is?"
"Oh, Mr Latter? He's tough."
As he walks me to my class, all my jittery gaze will focus on is my peers stares, they're laced with venom. I lock eyes with one of the cheerleaders, but my gentle smile was met with a laugh. Eddie's voice, right next to my ear, feels drowned out and far away, in a catatonic state. I yearned for butterflies in my stomach, but I'm agonized with hornets stinging my guts.
"Sweetheart?" Eddie calls out for me, dragging me out of my stupor. I look up, we're outside of my class. "Hey! You okay?" He reaches his hand out for my shoulder. I nod.
"Yeah, I'm just a bit nervous," A feeble smile overtakes my lips, my eyes, however, still had hot tears welling in their ducts.
"You'll be fine, the assholes at this school won't do anything,"
"Thank you Eddie," I breathed, air barely escaped past my swelling heart and lungs, ready to split my figure in half.
"Go get 'em tiger!" He gently pushes me through the doorway, I giggle. Everyone's eyes on me as I walk in is definetely a bit jarring, but I just take a seat in the back of the class.
The first day at a new school might be the most unbearable thing I've experienced in my life so far. Having to introduce yourself everytime you walk into a room gets tiring. Hearing the hushed yet pointed laughs directed at me stung.
I was being circled by hyenas, and all I had to push them away was my pride. When the bell rang, I sped my way to the cafeteria, I look around for Eddie and his friends. I wasn't allowed to look for long though, it'd be too easy if I actually got to see them. Three tall guys and a cheerleader stand like a wall in front of me, the hyenas finally pounced.
"Nice to see the freaks have a new little freakette to hang out with," The blonde one laughs. His hubris was almost pitiful. I push to walk around him, but another guy blocks me from leaving. The cheerleader cackles.
"Freakette! Look at her that dress too, she'll probably be passed around by them. She's the only slut even willing to converse with that cult," we're similar heights, but it feels like she's looming over me.
Back at home, I'd probably stand my ground, even throw a punch or two, but I froze. "I'm not a slut," I hissed, barely loud enough for them to hear it.
"What was that?" the cheerleader slowly stalks towards me. Their predatory presence is enough to pierce my nerves, I can't help but shift back. If this was a one on one standoff, I'd be able to fend for myself, but the vulturine gaze all of them are holding over me is too much, I can't steer them away. After shifting back for a while, I feel hands on my arms.
"Actually, she said she's not a slut," Eddie snaps. I feel him pull me back, away from the instigators.
"Awww, the freak stepped in for his little freakette!" The blonde snickers. I pull myself away from Eddie and storm off, through the side doors, and to the parking lot. I swing open my car door and lean over the steering wheel. I look up to see Eddie jogging towards me. He leans into the passenger side window.
"Can I come in?"
"Yeah, of course," he opens the door and sits in the seat next to me.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I should've stepped in sooner, I-"
"It's fine Eddie," I dont mean to cut him off, but listening to him apologize made me feel worse. "God, I don't know how I'm ever going to step back in there," I chuckle, but my face is burning up red.
He looks down at his lap, fiddling with his hands before covering his mouth. "I'm sure you'll be fine, I'll be there for you next time, alright?"
"It's okay, Eddie, you don't have to fight my battles for me like that," I sigh. I play with the charm on my choker, my father had made it for me so long ago. He said it made me look mean and scary, like the badass little rockstar I am, that all the kids at my school wouldn't fuck with me when I wore it. That worked when I was a young kid, but not when you're 18.
"I guess I've just been fighting them off for years and I'm used to it, I'm sorry," He chuckles a little. "I don't know what your home town was like, but this is what small town Indiana is. I'm really trying to graduate this year, I wanna get out. All this cult talk and being an outsider since middle school, it's shit."
"Shit," I repeat. Looking up at him. "Where do you wanna go?"
"Fuck, anywhere that isn't here," He exasperated, sputtering into a smile. "C'mon, let's go back inside, you can't back down on your first day."
"I don't know," I trail off. He wraps and arm around me, and all the tenseness in my body seeps away. My soul was at ease in his presence, for the first time in my whole life.
"I haven't know you for very long, but I know you're strong, especially stronger than them," He looks deep into my eyes, a sweet smile laid on his lips. I sigh, but I can't help cracking one in return.
"Fine, let's go.
"Atta' girl!"
With a red dot on my back, I walk back into the school. The hyena’s still circled, but this time, I had a lion to fight them off for me. I got to spend the rest of my day with Eddie, at least until had to go back to work.
Thanks for reading!!!
its a little bit of a rushed ending but i didn’t know what to do 😭😭

I took a day-trip yesterday and made my way up north to Blueberry Cottage Yarn and Wool in Plymouth, Indiana.
The staff there was so friendly and helpful! They have a truly incredible (and reasonably priced) selection of yarns, patterns, classes, and notions.

I just couldn't walk away without a mini-haul. I'll definitely be going there next time I need to re-stock!

Common Dreams
May 5, 2023
"There's now no question that neonicotinoids play an outsized role in our heartbreaking extinction crisis," said one advocate. The EPA must "ban these pesticides so future generations don't live in a world without bees and butterflies and the plants that depend on them."
A newly published assessment from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency warns that three of the most commonly used neonicotinoid insecticides threaten the continued existence of more than 200 endangered plant and animal species.
"The EPA's analysis shows we've got a five-alarm fire on our hands, and there's now no question that neonicotinoids play an outsized role in our heartbreaking extinction crisis," Lori Ann Burd, environmental health director at the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), said Friday in a statement.
"The EPA has to use the authority it has to take fast action to ban these pesticides," said Burd, "so future generations don't live in a world without bees and butterflies and the plants that depend on them."
The agency's new analysis found that clothianidin, imidacloprid, and thiamethoxam likely jeopardize the continued existence of 166, 199, and 204 plants and animals protected under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), respectively. This includes 25 distinct insects, more than 160 plants reliant on insect pollination, and dozens of fish, birds, and invertebrates.
"The Biden administration will have the stain of extinction on its hands if it doesn't muster the courage to stand up to Big Ag and ban these chemicals."
Species being put at risk of extinction include the whooping crane, Indiana bat, Plymouth redbelly turtle, yellow larkspur, Attwater's greater prairie-chicken, rusty patched bumblebee, Karner blue butterfly, American burying beetle, Western prairie fringed orchid, vernal pool fairy shrimp, and the spring pygmy sunfish.
"The EPA confirmed what we have been warning about for years—these neonicotinoid insecticides pose an existential threat to many endangered species and seriously undermine biodiversity," Sylvia Wu, senior attorney at the Center for Food Safety (CFS), said in a statement. "Unfortunately, this dire news is what we have told EPA all along. EPA should be ashamed that it still has yet to ban these life-threatening pesticides."
The EPA is well aware of the risks associated with the three neonicotinoids in question. One year ago, the agency released biological evaluations showing that the vast majority of endangered species are likely harmed by clothianidin (1,225 species, or 67% of the ESA list), imidacloprid (1,445, 79%), and thiamethoxam (1,396, 77%). Its new analysis focuses on which imperiled species and critical habitats are likely to be driven extinct by the trio of insecticides.
As CBD pointed out: "For decades the EPA has refused to comply with its Endangered Species Act obligations to assess pesticides' harms to protected species. The agency was finally forced to do the biological evaluations by legal agreements with the Center for Food Safety and the Natural Resources Defense Council. After losing many lawsuits on this matter, the EPA has committed to work toward complying with the act."
"Given the Fish and Wildlife Service's refusal to lift a finger to protect endangered species from pesticides, we commend the EPA for completing this analysis and revealing the disturbing reality of the massive threat these pesticides pose," said Burd. "The Biden administration will have the stain of extinction on its hands if it doesn't muster the courage to stand up to Big Ag and ban these chemicals."
CFS science director Bill Freese said that "while we welcome EPA's overdue action on this issue, we are closely examining the agency's analysis to determine whether still more species are jeopardized by these incredibly potent and ubiquitous insecticides."
As CFS explained:
Chemically similar to nicotine, neonicotinoids kill insects by disrupting their nervous systems. Just billionths of a gram can kill or impair honeybees. Introduced in the 1990s, neonicotinoids have rapidly become the most widely used insecticides in the world. Neonics can be sprayed or applied to soil, but by far the biggest use is application to seeds. The neonic seed coating is absorbed by the growing seedling and makes the entire plant toxic. CFS has a separate case challenging EPA's regulation of these seed coatings. Bees and other pollinators are harmed by exposure to neonic-contaminated nectar and pollen, with studies demonstrating disruptions in flight ability, impaired growth and reproduction as well as weakened immunity. Neonic-contaminated seed dust generated during planting operations causes huge bee kills, while pollinators also die from direct exposure to spray. Neonics are also persistent (break down slowly), and run off into waterways, threatening aquatic organisms. EPA has determined that neonics likely harm all 38 threatened and endangered amphibian species in the U.S., among hundreds of other organisms. Birds are also at risk, and can die from eating just one to several treated seeds.
Neonicotinoids have long been prohibited in the European Union, but as recently as a few months ago, a loophole enabled governments to grant emergency derogations temporarily permitting the use of seeds coated with these and other banned insecticides. In January, the E.U.'s highest court closed the loophole for neonicotinoid-treated seeds—a decision the post-Brexit United Kingdom refused to emulate.
In the U.S., neonicotinoids continue to be used on hundreds of millions of acres of agricultural land, contributing to an estimated 89% decline in the American bumblebee population over the past 20 years.
According to Freese, "EPA has thus far given a free pass to neonicotinoids coated on corn and other crop seeds—which represent by far their largest use—that make seedlings toxic to pollinators and other beneficial insects."
"Our expert wildlife agencies—the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service—have the final say on this matter," Freese added, "and may well find that neonicotinoids put even more species at risk of extinction."
A 2019 scientific review of the catastrophic global decline of insects made clear that a "serious reduction in pesticide usage" is essential to prevent the extinction of up to 41% of the world's insects in the coming decades.

Character Introductions - The 33rd Infantry Division.
The members of the 33rd Infantry in the upcoming Terraphobia series.
The 33rd Infantry is led by Hog Squad, a squad of five people, although the entire division consists of over 250 men!
Hog Squad Membership
SGT. Piggy - A wall of a human being, standing at over 6 foot and as broad as a barn he is without a doubt the scariest man in the entire division if not the scariest man alive. Named for a birth defect causing his nose to resemble that of a pigs. He grew up in the small town of Plymouth, Indiana, and left to fight in WWI after his mother began to lose her mind. He’s obsessive about maintaining his gear, you would be hard-presses to find a crack in his gas mask, a scratch or dent on his helmet, or a tear in his uniform.
CPL. Fox - Standing at 5’5” with a toned body and an inexplicable need to be an asshole is Corporal Fox. Named such because of his agility, and his tendency to evade everyone during training events. Some swore there had to be tunnels because of how Fox would disappear and reappear. Fox hails from Medford, Oregon, and enlisted to make his parents proud.
LCPL. Legs - Having had his top half blown off in the war, and now just being a walking and talking pair of legs, people have realized where he comes from and what he does are kind of irrelevant, and that a magical pair of legs can kind of do whatever it wants. He sleeps in the closet.
PFC. Ram - Coming in at 6’ even, he is the corn fed farm-boy from Missouri, and while he isn’t exactly the brightest, he’s usually the most eager and willing to deal with a problem a head-on, sometimes to his own detriment.
PFC. Macaw - Standing at 5’6” he’s a smart ass that could give Fox a run for his money. He’s rarely content to sit around and do nothing, and prefers to plan on the fly. He grew up in the cold of Minnesota, and learned to survive on backpacking trips with his dad, the reason he enlisted is unclear.

Inaugural Mopar Event Excites from Start to Finish
Tumblr media
With ambition and anticipation, Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio staged its Inaugural Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance, Sept. 22-24, 2023 and by all accounts, it was an extraordinary event. Produced and presented by Summit Motorsports Park with Mopar enthusiasts in mind, it featured three days of racing, a Fun Field Car Show, swap meet, car corral, manufacturers’ midway, concert by Trainwreck Country Band and fireworks. “We couldn’t be happier with our Inaugural Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance,” said Bill Bader Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. “Our team spent several months organizing this event, and we all wanted it to be successful, and we are all very grateful that it was. We had a tremendous turnout, and we look forward to an even bigger event next year. The planning starts now.” On Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, the final round of eliminations in Indy Cylinder Head No Box saw Ron Hicks of Leo, Indiana, rip off a .001 reaction time and race to a 12.45 to defeat Cory Blackford of Toledo, Ohio, who stopped the clocks at 9.89. In Box, Randy Chestnut recorded a .007 on the tree and took the win with a 6.13 over Keith Meador, who went through the traps at 6.16. On Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, the final round of eliminations in Koffel’s Place Super Pro put the spotlight on Gene Nagy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Cliff Motes of Logan, West Virginia. They inched into the beams before blasting off, and Nagy came out on top with a 4.70 to Motes’ 6.59. In CRT Transmissions Pro, Marcus King of Republic, Ohio and Mike Walwood of Parma, Ohio motored up to the starting line, and King secured the win with a 9.60 elapsed time to Walwood’s 9.85. AA Transmission Hemi Super Stock saw Bob Marshall of Columbus, Ohio and Ron Gallagher of Whitby, Ontario, turn on their red lights, and Marshall won as his light was a bit less red than Gallagher’s. In Mancini Racing Nostalgia Super Stock, Doug Wright of Waterford, Michigan and Mike DeChicco of Ostrander, Ohio put dial-ins on their classic cars before Wright wrapped up the win with a 9.43 to DeChicco’s 11.46. Dan Trainer of Orient, Ohio and Dan Brewer of West Milton, Ohio took the stage for the TTI Exhaust Sportsman final round of eliminations, and Trainer wrapped up the win when Brewer illuminated the red light, with a mere -.005, at the hit. On Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, the final round of eliminations in FireCore 50 Top Gun Full-Bodied saw Jeff Goebel of Stratford, Ontario, flat-foot the pedal on his Duster to a 4.39 for the win over Chris Wheatcraft of Jamestown, Ohio, who clocked a 4.84 in his Demon. In FireCore 50 Top Gun Open-Bodied, Bryan Keller cruised to a 3.70 to earn his trip to the Summit Motorsports Park Winner’s Circle over Keith McLennan, who was .004 at the hit but had to get out of the throttle. Unfortunately, a continuous mist on Sunday evening caused the remaining rounds for other categories to be cancelled.  As an added element to the event, Manufacturers’ Choice Car Show Awards were given during a ceremony on the starting line. The winners were Jerry Imhoff’s 1970 Duster (chosen by Arrington Performance); Rick and Nicole Janosik’s 1973 Challenger (chosen by Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram); Mark Charlton’s 1963 Plymouth Wagon Max Wedge (chosen by Mancini Racing); Pam and Phil Helms’ 1972 Roadrunner Satellite (chosen by Koffel’s Place); Dave Taylor’s 1962 Fury (chosen by CRT Transmissions); Bill Watkins’ 1969 Barracuda (chosen by Moto Lenz Photos); Joe and Pam Mazzola’s 1970 Barracuda (chosen by Indy Cylinder Heads); Paul and Rose Prescott’s 1969 Charger Daytona (chosen by Harland Sharp); Francis McManamon’s 1966 Belvedere II Wagon (chose by FireCore 50) and Randy Slovikosky’s 1978 Trail Duster (chosen by Dornan’s Sales & Service)  As racers and race fans who were at the event over the weekend heard, Bader Jr. has happily announced that the 2nd Annual Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance will be Sept. 19-22, 2024, and as a new addition, a Gen III Hemi category will be part of the lineup.  “This event has the ingredients to be enormous, and we are eager to see where we can go from here,” said Bader Jr.  Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio.
